Please don’t waste your money here, the prices are absolutely absurd how dare them charge $35 for a freaking poke bowl. It’s literally rice, very little veggies, and tuna. The prices at this place are insanely high for the quality of food, I won’t even talk about the sushi. If you’re going to spend this much on food I would pick a place with a more quality experience.
Plenty of parking around the storefront. Can seat large parties or individuals. Masks are currently required for the store. Has a large selection of drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), they also have boba teas and desserts. Mixture of Japanese and Thai foods and more. The employees are kind and service is fast. Quick to check up on patrons. Great environment and clean. Dishes are generally large and inexpensive. Offers Dine-in and Take-out.Highly recommend if you are in the area.
Low quality restaurant. Nice design. Personal a little bit rude maybe because was end of the day. High pricing with low quality something to eat. Shrimps was siting on the shelf for days , seems like just warmed up from freezer. Vegetables also not fresh. This is just another one wok to go place. Ordered Teriyaki shrimp for $26 with noodles with a lot of sugar inside.
Yummy Japanese hibachi restaurant with entertaining chefs and excellent service. Our son turned seven years old and really enjoyed the experience. The friendly staff brought a special mini ice cream cake with a candle and pounded a traditional Asian drum while we sang a happy birthday song.
This place is a must go for any hibachi/sushi lover in the Watertown NY area. The atmosphere is very nice and the restaurant is very clean.Every time I come home I go out here at least once. The beers are cold, saki is hot.. Sushi is fresh and the portions on the hibachi are massive. Its hard to go home hungry. If youre in town and like Japanese cuisine, check this place out!The only ding I can give this place is that it can get expensive pretty fast, so be sure to check the prices on everything.
Prices were reasonable and our cook did a great job and kept the table entertained. We thought our food was pretty good too. My only complaint is that there were multiple parties at the the hibachi. We all checked into yelp and there was a 10% OFF coupon. They would not honor it? Said only one group at a table could use it? What does another group at the table using a coupon have to do with me using a coupon? Waitress said the manager said no. Ridiculous.
Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere, and fantastic cooks! They have a huge selection of food. The cooks are very entertaining and are extremely good at what they do. The food is cooked in a very timely manner too. Definitely go here if youre looking for good asian food!
Food and performance were okay, but for the price I would not go out of my way to return. The portions were okay but nothing outstanding as it was all finished there. It was a unique experience but having never been to a hibachi I got no direction nor was I offered assistance by staff. Thankfully I was able to rely on assistance from other experienced diners and others in my party to help.
Wonderful cooked food, a bit expensive but nice portions. The hibachi cooks are all fun and lively! It is quite loud in there with all the cheering and gong banging so I wouldnt recommend if you have anxiety or are just sensitive to loud sounds. Only downside to this place was the rude girl at the front who seated us.
The food was pretty good. Had hibachi and rolls. My only concern was the soy sauce. I had two rolls and they gave two sachets of soy sauce instead of it being in the containers. Hard to mix wasabi and soy sauce when you don’t have those containers. Not the best hibachi but not the worst. Was not asked how I like my steak but it was still pretty good.
Ive never personally been to a restaurant where the food can be prepared right in front of you at your table until today. It was a very cool experience and the chefs were very talented. Food was good and unique, portions are large enough to where you wont leave here hungry. Wouldnt recommend going here with a large group unless you plan on splitting the bill, cause the price can be higher than youd expect. All around a great experience and I would definitely consider revisiting.
One of our go-to’s whenever we’re visiting the Watertown area. Talented, professional, and friendly showmanship combined with consistently high quality cuisine. We often get the Hibachi Teriyaki Chicken and Hibachi Teriyaki Steak (and sometimes upgrade to the Filet Mignon, an extra special treat). Their nice selection of Japanese and other beers are complimented by well-crafted mixed drinks that are poured with a strong hand (in a nice way) not weak or watered down. Very nice staff throughout and every time.
My wife and I have been here several times, and have never had a bad meal. We of course sit at the hibachi tables, though they do have regular dining as well. The show is great (captivating our 2 year old) and the food is better. If you are into calamari, it is cooked very well on the hibachi. I would definitely recommend this place.
Hibachi chef was amazing, great entertainment and great food. However, the server was severely annoying, not even 5 minutes pass, she was rushing to get our drinks. Rushed us to order our food, asked if we were ready to order...hadn’t even been 10 MINUTES, we weren’t sat with napkins and tableware, she even served us our sushi appetizer with no soy sauce, no chopsticks, so we ate it like finger food.
Very nice Hibachi and Japanese steakhouse. I got three different types of sushi plus the teriyaki scallops. They were a bit frugal with the scallops, bit everything tasted good. The chef/entertainment was decent, but not on the top of his game. All-in-all, my family and I had a good time and enjoyed the food. We would return and would recommend it to others.
The restaurant is located in Watertown, NY, off highway 81. A small restaurant on a Sunday afternoon, was busy, considering covid times and Sunday afternoon. Staff was wearing mask, I had a small miso soup with bits of soft tofu, it was good. My family ordered noodles with beef and sea food in a noodle miso broth. They liked. Service was quick and good.
My boyfriend and I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The bartender was so sweet, and her drinks were excellent. Our chef was so much fun, and energized that it was contagious! And the food, oh my goodness, was AMAZING! We will most definitely be recommending this place to all of our friends and family!!
I love Japanese food but I expected better. It is very pricey and they don’t serve much of their food. I ordered the sushi sashimi boat for 2 and I was disappointed because we didn’t even get the choice to pick one of our items. The kids meals were not good choices either. I’ve had much better sushi in this area. But I’m glad I finally convinced myself to try it out. Not my kind of place
Came for sushi and the sushi was more like an appetizer than a plate for the price. Had Udon as well and it wasnt impressive compared to even the heat up ready to eat bowls. The mongolian that I had was good but tasted as a premade packaged item. This place seems to be the only hibachi grill in town, sadly that means they have no competition. If there was, this painted pig would fail.
The sushi is very good.. the hibachi grill is always fun.. the food is relatively quick and there is a huge selection of choices in Sushi... Only thing I would say is that their sweet potato roll always seems to be under cooked.. they need to cook the sweet potato more before rolling it into the sushi roll
I will never go back to Ruyi Japanese Steak House!!!Prices are really high, service is the worst and they charge you a high fixed tip on parties of 4 or more.I took my family to dinner there because Ive heard the food was really good and since it was my wifes birthday I thought it would be the perfect time to give them a try.Everything started fine, the hostess was really quick and took us to a Hibachi table., it was 5 of us so the table was almost full. Then the wait, it took the waitress about 40 minutes just to get our drinks and then another 20 minutes to get our order which she wrote down on her HAND.Then she came back 15 minutes later asking us for our order again because she accidentally washed her hand off and lost the order. And then finally the cooks showed up at our table which they put up quite of a fun show. And yes the food was really good. When it was time to pay there was a $34 tip included in the bill and when I asked the waitress she said that a tip is included on all parties of 4 or more, which I think its completely ridiculous. So that means that the more business you bring them the more they charge you?CONCLUSIONThe food is good but their service is a huge joke I will never bring my family to that place ever again.
We went as a group in December of 2019, please make sure you dress warm as it was freezing cold. Our whole group had complained about the temperature of the room. As for the hibachi part it was fun the guy we had was kind of bland and not as entertaining as some of other guys there. The food was amazing as always. We will be back in the future.
The food here was fantastic! The chef was skilled and the service was great as well. I cant wait to go back to try some other dishes. The only down side was that the restaurant was freezing when we got there for dinner. We did show up early, so they may have just opened the restaurant.
We sat at the sushi bar and had the best time. Wonderful flow of sushi and super friendly staff. The chefs were spot on! The yellowtail was so very good and everything so fresh! Probably one of the best sushi rice Ive ever had. Great ambiance! Plenty of people having fun at the hibachi grill behind and cool decor. We will return!
The food is expensive & they don’t serve you very much... There is no return policy, so if you want to change your drink because you didn’t like it you still have to pay for it. The waitresses don’t check often for refills & bad service. Gave this place a few tries & it gets worse every time I go.The sushi we ordered was good though.
Ever since moving away from Fort Drum my husband and I cant find sushi that compares to this one. Ill go to restaurants and show the waitress their menu to find me something comparable to their amazing sushi but no one can ever live up to it! This place sure made my sushi expectations high. Friendly staff too. Miss this place so much.
Great experience! They do tricks with food and the experience expands if your party/group participates in the trucks and antics. Didnt give it 5☆ because they only did 5 tricks total and in my better experiences there were 10 or more. This is a place where you play with your food!
The overall experience was fantastic. Ive never been to a hibachi before and the chef was very entertaining and enthusiastic. The reason Im giving 3 stars is because as they offer a military discount, they asked for my Military Dependent ID( which is fine, dont mind), what the problem was is that the waitress took the IDs and walked away with them and had them in her possession and showing some other dude them and didnt give them back for another 10 minutes. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE A MILITARY ID BEHIND CLOSED DOORS AND AWAY FROM THE PATRONS. There is VERY sensitive information on a military ID. But overall the food and service was great.
Specifically asked and even described the tempura roll I wanted, I got regular sushi, disappointed Portion sizes small, prices expensive vs quality , requested plates, no plates were available , I was told the containers doubled as plates 😱 staff very courteous and polite
My favorite place to eat. I absolutely love the hibachi and the options they have on the japenese sodas. The sodas are a must. This is a great place to go for special events and dates however warning it may be a little pricey, but you definetly get what you pay for and a show too!!!. The decor and cleanliness of this restaraunt are also very pleasing. I highly recommend this to everyone!!
I wish I could give zero stars, it was my First time and it was the worst experience Ive ever had in my entire life.Youll be sitting there at the table wondering where your waitress is and after almost an hour when youre ready to leave the darn place she decides to show up.And at the end when its time to pay the bill you get charged a tip which is not optional. They just add it to your bill and youre stuck with it.This is the first restaurant Ive been with such long wait at the table and on top of that they charge you a fixed tip, I asked the waitress about the tip that I didnt authorize and she said that you get charged a tip automatically on parties of four or more, I mean who the hell does that!!!? She charged me $40 in tips only.So basically the more business you bring them the more they will charge you on top of your bill, completely ridiculous.Well definitely never go back in there, theyre just out to get your money, be aware.
Tonight we got take out at around 9 pm, there was only 1 car in the parking lot, so they clearly were not busy. My ginger salad had 2 long hairs and a mysterious piece of canned pineapple (which these salads never come with pineapple, ever.) So I had called to make them aware of it and was told that they now are putting pineapple in their ginger salads and that I could come back for another salad. Obviously I picked this up because I do not live in Watertown, so driving back for a salad would be silly. For the inconvenience, they could have been a little nicer and offered something for the next visit. Seems to me like whoever made this salad scraped the remains off of another plate. Highly disgusted and disappointed. Used to love eating here and thought it was the best in town but the past few experiences have not been as pleasing, hence the poor review. Will go to Mizu Machi from now on. Heres a tip though, you should make sure your employees are handling the food properly and work on your customer service skills!
I had the fortune to get to know the staff, who have all quit since realizing the repulsiveness of this restaurant. They recycle food off of previous tables, especially salads and soups, so unless it has been cooked in front of you its probably part of someone elses meal. The menu prices are not the actual prices, the price of your meal is subject to change while you eat, and if something goes wrong, like if your order came out wrong, it will be the customers fault, and the management is racist to anyone who is not asian. So the non-asian workers their likely have not been paid. And if you think your tip helps, it doesnt, the manager collects all the tip money and redistributes the tip money amongst more deserving employees it pains me because I do like the food, and I used to think very highly of this restaurant, but the more iv eating here the more iv realized how poor this place is
At first I was hesitant because the place did not look too appealing. The service was a little slow at first but omfg the food here was incredible. An orgasm in your freaking mouth. I forgive you guys for Dec 7th, and recommend everyone in the local area to indulge in this great feast.

2022-01-22This place is definitely mid. 2nd time coming here after considering giving it another chance to redeem itself after the first time. And I regret that decision. We spent $91 dollars here, and out of all the things we tried the ONLY thing I liked was the soft crab shell entree. The noodles were nasty, so was the fish. The fried rice mediocre. Even the vegetables were gross, how do you mess that up? The sprite I ordered tasted old, like fountain water. Obviously I know how where the sprite comes from, so I would know that they haven’t cleaned those nozzles out. Yikes. For the people saying this place is amazing obviously haven’t tried many Japanese places in their life time. And this place IS NOT IT. Go somewhere else. Even the buffet (although Chinese food, not authentic) is better than this. Save ya moneys. I was disappointed and still hungry.

2022-04-11We were seated quickly, with menus by the host. The host was very polite and helpful. We didnt see our server for approximately 20, at which time, he took our drink order, didnt bring them for another 20 minutes. The restaurant was not busy, in fact some of the staff were just sitting around doing nothing. The server dropped off our drinks, and walked away. We were ready to order but didnt have the chance to say so. He finally returned approximately 15 min later, took the order, and walked off. He quickly returned with our soup and salads. We waited 25 min. more for our entrees. They were terrible! The fried rice was old, cold, and very dry. The teriyaki dishes were flavorless, the vegetables were raw, and the meat was severely undercooked. My son ordered the sushi, and it was like convenient store quality. It had a funky smell and taste. So, bottom line is, we spent $175 that they automatically added an 18% tip to, and left it all on the table. Wasted more than 2 hours of my life, Ill never get back and good money on rotten food. Ill never go again, or recommend that anyone go. Oh, almost forgot the chef side tables. They whack those knives so hard on the stove top the noise gave me a headache. The noise is exceptionally loud, overbearing, to say the least. NO handicap parking, or seating.

2021-08-23Fresh and tasty, a little on the bland side; needs more seasoning (should definitely engage guest on this).Reasonably priced.Convenient location off the main street.Very dark and gloomy atmosphere; could definitely use some updates. Our server couldnt answer our questions about certain menu items and didnt offer to go find out.Our Hibachi chef was ok but I observed a better performance and presentation from the chef for another party.

2022-06-23Stopped in on Fathers Day expecting a long wait but we were seated quickly, and served quickly. Our hibachi chef was amazing and very friendly. Our 6 yr old loved her experience and had a blast catching vegetables in her mouth. The food was delicious, fillet mignon, lobster, and scallops cooked beautifully.

2022-04-13Hands down the best restaurant Ive been to with my family since we got to Watertown. Probably one of the only restaurants worth visiting again. Service and seating were prompt. Our food was delicious and well-seasoned, and our chef was engaging and friendly. 10/10 will be back! Absolutely no complaints.

2022-07-07I went back to Ruyi after our mishap this past weekend. I stand corrected. The Manager was genuinely apologetic for the mistake, taking full responsibility. This time I ate on the premises. The service was and always is Excellent! The sushi was very, very good. Very good. Compliments to Ruyi for making things Oshi!

2022-04-19Amazing food! Amazing show! I could not say enough about the experience. Only mishap the chef dropped a pad of hot butter on one of the party members in my group. Truly no harm no foul and we played it off as part of the experience! Please concider this a dinner stop for your travel
