My issue with this place is not the food or the service. They are pretty a well oiled machine, the ingredients are all very solid, nothing overly crazy in terms of high quality but very standard, I think the inherent problem is the prices are very high but its probably because of the location. I can only imagine what rent here costs at a prime location so I take into account that they need to cover operating costs but for this type of food I get disappointed paying so much.
Im not gonna lie, I have pretty much no idea what we ordered here, despite my best efforts to understand (we later noticed there was a guide we could have looked at, well do that next time lol). But it was delicious nonetheless. I know we got pork and chicken, and I think beef mixed in there. I understood like 2 vegetables maybe out of like 10. But it was really fun to experiment and share the delicious concoction that emerged from the kitchen! Ours turned out relatively small, but some tables had a huge pan that a bunch of them were sharing. Pricing is by weight, with different pricing for the meats vs the veggies (weighed separately). No idea what the price per weight was, but ours came out to $38 and was pretty filling for two adults and two small kids
I know it’s been a hard time for the restaurant industry and I’d love to be more supportive.... but charged utensil for indoor dining when what you provided were the disposable plates, bowls and chopsticks?! The dry hot pot is very greasy and not flavorful AT ALL. First came here two years ago and was loving this place, came back today and was absolutely disappointed. The staff was mopping the floor while there were me and another group still eating (in the afternoon, not even close to their closing time), very very unhygienic
I 💗LOVE💗 this restaurant!!!! This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in NYC. This is dry pot - which means basically stir fry. WARNING: Some of the staff here speak very little English. (This is how you know it is authentic Chinese.) This is a hard restaurant to navigate as well. No waiters. Basically you go to the food bar. Tell the food bar attendandant how many people will be eating out of your bowl. Is this bowl just for yourself or are you and your friends eating out of the same salad bowl? Then tell her what ingredients you want in your bowl. The server will grab enough of each ingredient for the amount of people you told her. Meat goes into a separate bowl then vegetables because they are priced differently. Then when they ring you up they will ask you if you want mild, medium, or spicey. I always say medium which is more medium/spicey. The food comes out cooked 15 mins later with a bowl of rice and it is delicious! I always get the same combo of tilapia, quail egg, kidney, bok choi , black mushroom, lotus root, rice noodle, and sometimes seaweed knots.
This place is close to my school. I always order from here and it’s so good. It’s the first place I’ve tried Chinese dry hot pot and now that I’ve moved out of school I can’t find another place I’m New York that compares. I wish they delivered to my location now but I’m too far away. I 100% recommend this place. Pick the meat and veggies that you want. The iced tea is good too!
Dry hot pot has overwhelming choice at first (like a salad bar of veggies, doubled for meats!) but ask for help, they are friendly and have an ingredients map. Meat and veggies are weighed and priced separately then totaled. Felt slightly pricey (I paid $22 for 4 veggies, 2 meats and a beer) but realistically it was a 2 portion size and I could select less next visit. Tasty and quick, ample seating, convenient to public transit. I tried 50/100 scale heat (“spicy”) and it was the right choice - I like spicy but not overpowering.
Ordered the dried hot pot only this time. Decent food with decent price. Averagely $15 for each. Taste as good as the similar restaurants in Manhattan Chinatown and Flushing. It is a popular dining place for students from Columbia University. Will try their roasted fish next time.
Nice addition/replacement in my old neighborhood (lived around the corner from 1983-1986, when this space was Cannons Pub, reportedly from mid-1930s until its demise in 2004). Shrimp hot pot for $13 was plentiful and tasty. Mango smoothie also good, and helped offset the spiciness (which I had requested). Very nice Sunday brunch -- or other meal --for anyone.
The soup is not good...its just water with no flavor and if you get spicy its just spicy water. Go for the noodles. This place is always packed and there is no one to tell you where to sit. On a bright note, the workers were super nice to me. Despite being crowded they took the time to explain a couple things about the menu to me. Another good thing about this place is if you love veggies then you get a great amount for what you pay for in the soup.
I ordered the beef hot pot with soup ($9.99), and it didn’t disappoint. This is pretty good sichuan food considering the location. The hot pot comes with a generous portion of beef and other veggies and noodles. The broth is well seasoned and quite tasty! The staff is also friendly, but then can be quite loud.
This place is amazing. I have been here like 4 times in the last 2 months. The flavor of the sauce in the dried hot pot is really good. And you can have bubble tea with your food. The food is prepared in about 7 min after you choose what you want in the pot. My mom says its like you are going into a market. I would recommend this place if you like Chinese or Japanese food or any other Asian cuisine.
We were excited about it but were very disappointed. The fresh carrot juice was good, but the dry pot itself was really not. I had lots of dry pot in North Carolina, where there are a lot less Chinese people but the dry pot places were a lot better. I have to say with the right sauce from the supermarket I could make better dry pot than this:(
The restaurant is always crowded, but not because it is popular. The cashier is extremely inefficient and keeps picking up the phone. The waiter picking vegetable and meat answers the phone with her gloves on and do not change her gloves after. It is terrible. We later give it a second chance by ordering delivery. However, it takes one and a half hour for the food to deliver while the estimates says 30 minutes. We ordered two serves of rice but we only receive one. I asked the courier why there is only one serve of rice. He answered with a unpleasant and disrespectful tone saying you have to specify when ordering, which I triple checked. The restaurant who pays no attention to customer service and customers health deserves a one star and I recommend you not going to this restaurant.
I usually dont care for spots like these, especially boiling point, but this place was pretty good! I got the cheese milk hot 108 Food Dried Hot Pot with mild spice. The flavor was great with a lot of meats/ veggies in there. I would definitely come back again when I crave hot 108 Food Dried Hot Pot!
So glad I no longer have to trek it to Flushing to have delicious authentic dry hot pot! Go prepared to eat a lot or bring home left overs. Even mild is spicy, so be prepared for that too.Your taste buds will be happy. It is a little daunting to order for the first time as the choices seem confusing. The dry hotpot was very flavorful. The ma-po tofu did pack quite a bit of heat. Overall, great food experience but didnt care for much that water is served in a small disposable plastic cup.
I absolutely loved my dried hotpot. If you have ever had hotpot, you are not sure if have undercooked it in which case its unhygienic to eat it or overcooked it in which case it doesnt taste so good. The dried hotpot takes care of all that. I ordered mild spicy and it was pretty good. My friend who does not handle spice so well could have used a little less spice I suppose. However they were announcing the order numbers in Chinese and we had to personally goto the counter to check if it was our order a couple of times. Seating is ample and location is pretty nice. Its good for groups of people as well.
Large open space with lots of tables and chairs and self service. To order food you go up to an open counter with a choice of meat, seafood and vegetables and pick what you want. They cook it out for you with Schezuan sauces at your desired spice level and call out your number. Also have a menu to choose from and a range of bubble tea. Extremely authentic, healthy and tasty. A little pricey.
Great Chinese food in the area, youll see many Chinese international students from Columbia here. Its somewhat pricey for dried hotpot—expect to spend around $18 per person. Its very authentically Chinese, you wont be able to find dried hotpot elsewhere in NYC outside of Flushing. Bring friends!
The food takes good - but be careful, whoever is managing the kitchen is not very honest. You pay for a pound of fish, and when the hotpot comes out. its only a few pieces! You pay for pound of pork, and its much less meat when it comes out cooked. Be careful! Tasty but dishonest!
I was very surprised and this is a pretty legit spot in Harlem. There is no longer a need to go to flushing!! Quick service and price was also pretty reasonable. Portions are okay although I wish they did give a little more beef, it was good and definitely worth the trek crosstown. Now if only they delivered to 5th Ave !
We usually call it fire pot but dried hot pot also makes sense. Think hot pot but with no liquid and and all the ingredients mixed together. The restaurant is more like a food court setting. Flavor is okay and facility is generally clean. I would only go there for a casual lunch.
Despite the borderline garish stereotypical decor hung all over this restaurant, 108 Food Dried Hot Pot offers an authentic and varied experience for those curious about currently trending Chinese cuisine. Vegetables are 9 dollars a pound and meat is 11, and they weigh these separately so you can get both! The spices levels here are pretty mild so dont be scared to go big. Great for a night out, a quick bite, or even take out.
Sanitation is very questionable. They put the receipt in the same bowl with the selected ingredients, and they picked up a plastic bag from the floor and placed it on top of the ingredients. I was eating 30 minutes before the closing time, but they started putting all the chairs up and swapping the floor with pungent, unpleasant detergent—I could not finish the food because of the strong chloride smell. They seriously need to get a health inspection.
Oh man so legit, so convenient. Dry hot pot is a really popular trend in flushing, and Im so glad it is available now near Columbia. Morningside heights is really turning into an Outpost for Chinese food. International students have a higher standard for international food :)
The delivery guy will ask you for tips. If you give less than 10% , he will even ask for more! And he said he parked his car outside so that he could not deliver your food to you apt, instead he has time to wait for you at the front gate of your apt and ask you for tips! When you call the store and complain about this, they don’t really care, and they also insist you should pay tips, and should pay more than 10%. When does paying tips become a have-to -do things? Oh, btw, if you don’t pay “enough” tips, the deliver guy takes away your food, even if you paid for it! What a shame!!! They don’t care about their notorious reputation!
Horrible place many rats passing by and by far unsanitary. The workers are so rude and they dont clean there bowls with just water but hey people would just eat anywhere what do they care there kitchen must be as dirty as theres they was rated a D and now they can to fix a few things to open back up.
I went to eat Gongcha and found it by accident! Worried about the taste, I went in, but it was delicious. I ordered QQ Passion Fruit and QQ Mango. If you order one, you get one for $1.99! And its Only Cash! There is a lot of it and it tastes better than Gongcha, really tastes like eating locally..!

2022-06-12One of my favorite spots in NYC. The dry pot bowl offers the perfect comfort food. I usually add extra extra fish because they deep fry it before mixing with the stirfry. I can just eat the fish only everyday. In fact, their fish fillet with chili pepper is exactly that. Spice level 80 is perfect for me. 100 can sometimes interfere with my enjoyment of the meal.My husband and I went here almost every week during the pandemic to order our takeout bowl, sometimes wed just eat in the car. And ever since they reopened for dine-in weve been there too. Price is reasonable. Usually a bowl for 2 is around $50. We go crazy often and end up spending $60-70 which means wed be rolling out those days. Rice refills are free.

2022-02-25Very confusing restaurant the two times I have been. A majority of the staff only really speaks Chinese which is interesting, but it made it confusing to order especially with how part of the restaurant is a chipotle style make your own bowl thing. I want to rate it a 4 but I feel like its racist to rate it a 4 because of how the staff speaks Mandrin so Im giving it a 5. It is neat and the food is pretty good. Would check it out if youre into that thing. Artsy upper west side.

2021-05-15Great place and has really good food! You can pick what meat/veggies you want and they cook it right then and there for you. We ate family style but you could probably also get separate bowls. The boba is pretty good too. They are open for indoor and outdoor dining currently.

2019-05-04Food was flavourful but a bit oily. I like the cabbage with pork belly, though pork belly was a bit dry. Dry hot pot was good and you can pick the ingredients and the spiciness level you want. I also tried the hot pot soup. Beef was like boiled beef, not as tasty as in dry hot pot, though the noodle was not bad. Recommend stick to dry hot pot.

2020-07-17I had the dry fish fillets. It had carrot slices, bell peppers, onions, and the spicy peppers + came with a side of rice. It was a touch oily but otherwise great! I would enjoy more spicy but this was still a good amount. The menu looks really good; Ill definitely be back!

2021-05-23This place is hella good. This is the mild dry hot pot with pork belly and shrimp. Mild is good for ppl that don’t like spicy, for Asians I recommend medium or spicier.10/10 would come again and recommend.

2019-07-13Really fun place to share a meal with your significant other :) They have a build your own dried hot pot station where you can select various meats, tofus and vegetable options which they then take and stir fry in an amazing medley of sauces and spices. I got the 50% spice level which was just the right amount of spice for me. However, they have a wide variety of spice levels. They also have a huge variety of bubble and milk teas. Overall, my experience was great and my server at the build a hot pot station was very nice and informative, I liked it alot! Give it a try!

2018-09-15I love this place! Tastes just like food I had when I was in China. I plan on going back here many times. Also, they have a mini bubble tea shop inside the restaurant, so there are really two great places in one here.
