I like the food here, you get great portions at pretty normal prices. Whats not great is that the spicy food that Ive had from them has not been spicy. That along with the placement of the restaurant, though that cant be helped. The noodles are truly the best item to get from their menu. The restaurant itself is nothing extremely special. It has a nice ambiance and is not bad at all for a quick bite with a friend or too. It is definitely a really casual setting.
Been eyeing this place for a few years now and the interest had unfortunately been for nothing. From a price point perspective, weve eaten at almost every level of Chinese restaurant and the food here is too pricey for the quality and taste. Our order of General Tso Chicken lunch special, Mapfo Tofu, and a Bok Choy with Mushroom dish came to around $35 with tax, but it tasted more in the $20 -- maybe $25 -- range. Maybe their noodle and noodle soup dishes are better but General Tso is a Chinese restaurant staple that shouldnt taste funny. We had a ton of leftover and threw out everything. Thats the first time we ever did that to Chinese leftover, and is a good indication of how the dishes tasted.
I celebrated my nomination this evening in this delicious restaurant. happy to tell that it was a sensational evening and the venue was certainly the reason for this happy celebration. The waiters participated in a splendid style, the meals were delicious and my friends were so cheerful. We shall no dout come back again for more joyful events. thanks very much.
The food here is really good and the place itself has a very relaxing vibe to it. But sadly whenever i order from the store the delivery driver is really rude. Hes the one in the pikachu dodge charger. Always giving attitude whenever he delivers. I even tipped once and he wasnt happy with the amount i gave. You guys should really do something about it, i dont understand how you can be so greedy while you drive a car like that.
Good amount of food for the price. Sitting area is a bit small, looks more like a take out restaurant but the food quality is definitely not take-out at all, its MUCH better. I ordered chicken with spicy green peppers and it was amazing. Super spicy, which I like, and the chicken was all dark meat (Im usually not crazy about dark meat but this was super tender and very good)
Really fast service although my friends and I were basically the only ones in the restaurant on a snowy night. This is a small restaurant but nice interior with cute lights up for the holidays. I ordered the Winter Cabbage and Shredded Pork Soup noodles and scallion pancakes. The scallion pancakes were oily but good texture. The soup and noodles were really delicious though! I will definitely visit again on a cold night in which Im craving noodles and soup!
Dont expect a five star dining experience at Chinese take out prices and you will not be disappointed. This place has the typical Americanized Chinese food. It also has noodles and some hearty Chinese soups like beef stewOverall the food is good and you will be happy. Most of the people do takeout although they do have a few tables you can eat at. They deliver food to your table but I would not call it table service.
Ordered spare ribs today and the center was refrigerator cold! Couldnt believe it! This was the second time this happened. I took it back and they said they would remake them. They gave me the spare ribs back a little warmer on the outside, but still refrigerator cold in the center. Got my money back. This is so disappointing!
Food was alright. Portions are less in quantity than the average Chinese food restaurant. Also they use compartmentalized plates to separate combination meals which can be a good thing if youre into that but it also just gives them a way to give you less food and make it look like more. We were given thousand island dressing for some reason when we asked for spicy mustard packets. Delivery guy was rude. I left specific instructions on which door to go to and he apparently didnt read them and went to the wrong door. When I got to the door he proceeded to tell me about how inconvenienced he was and how he called so many times even though I only received one call. I told him he went to the wrong door and he just kept on complaining so I just ended the interaction right there because there was no point in talking to him.
Place isnt as convenient to get to as the other Chinese restaurants near the station, but the food makes up for it. Very authentic Chinese cuisine and the prices are reasonable. There are a variety of Chinese dishes at this place, so you can get a little of everything. Definitely try the fried rice and noodles at this place.
As a Chinese, Im very confident to say that I can tell if the Chinese food is good or not. The food is delicious and fresh. I go there 3-5 times every week. I think it must be the best Chinese restaurant in this area. Because its tip-free, what high profile service do you expect? Just order, get it and finish. I recommend this place and hope you love it too.
Average Chinese food. Some of the commonly ordered dishes are precooked so when people order them, they just heat it up so you sometimes receive your food very quickly. I dont really mind about that because the price is cheap and fast noodle is the same thing. Also, this is way healthier than american fast food.
Authentic! So delicious. Tastes just like near my hometown areas chinese food. The staff are always really nice and the food is always hot and fresh to order. My favorite is the beef chow fun and they make a mean roast pork noodle too. The roast pork isnt all fatty and greatly seasoned! The fried dumplings have a great dough to meat ratio and it is each a perfect bite! I always come here first for a quick chinese fix when I start to miss home during the school year!
I do not know what is happening at Ten89. Ive been ordering from this restaurant since they opened. I typically order one out of three of their menu items, and they were always a good balance of ingredients and flavor. The last two weeks they have been inconsistent.Last week I ordered shrimp lo mein to share, 2 shrimp rolls, tomato egg drop soup and pan fried pork dumplings. The shrimp lo mein had plenty of small, quarter-sized shrimp and pork dumplings were good; the egg rolls were mediocre, tomato egg drop soup thin. This week I ordered shrimp lo mein to share, 2 spring rolls and pan fried pork dumplings. There were a total of 8 quarter-sized shrimp in the container. The spring rolls were worse than the egg rolls, and we were given scallion pancakes instead of the dumplings. Both the scallion pancakes and spring rolls were very oily.Disappointing. Given there are so many Chinese restaurants, noodle and dumpling houses in the area, Ten89 needs to up their game.
Ten89 handled a catering event for my business with 100 attendees. The food was delivered promptly, they helped with set-up, and our guest raved about the food. It made for a great even and I recommend them to anyone looking to serve a large group of people without breaking the bank!
This noodle shop opened up over a year ago, and has been a great asset to the Universitys student community. The food here is delicious, but some may consider it pricey compared to some chinese take out places, but honestly, its worth it.Most of the time I usually grab a noodle bowl, but occasionally the fried rice is always a nice change up.There are no waiters to serve you, but there is a cashier who takes your order and wipes the table. The interior is very nice and well kept, the design is very well thought out and feels nice and cozy. Im not sure about WiFi, but they do offer chinese satellite television in case youre one to watch chinese TV while you eat or wait for your food. While there are way better chinese food locations, this is one of the better ones, especially in Long Island and within walking distance of Stony Brook Universitys campus, which has a large asian population. If you want some chinese food that isnt campus made, this is a a good place to go.
After hearing rave reviews about this place, my two friends and I had the Chicken Pad Thai this afternoon. When the food came out the chicken was a grey-ish color. There was something in my meal that was really soft and mushy - almost like a terrible cheese taste with a consistency that stuck to your teeth and left a film (it was NOT Tofu). An hour and a half after eating here, two out of three of us has thrown up and it looks like we all have food poisoning. NEVER going back here again. We will stick with Thai Gourmet out on 347 in Port Jeff Station - have never gotten sick after eating there.
The portion for a plate of Pad Thai is very generous for the price. It seems to come with chicken by default so vegetarians be sure to mention you want it with no meat! They also add sriracha sauce by default which I found delicious but others might want to be aware of.
Ordered an on-campus delivery on a Friday night around 8:15 PM. Firstly, they had 15 USD minimum order for delivery. But that is ok. It is their policy. But they did not tell me that I need to wait for 45 minutes for the order to be delivered. I have had food from them before at the location and I am content with the food quality so the wait wouldnt been much of an issue. But the delivery man could not find the dorm building and wanted me to come outside in the cold. By the time I got out putting on warm clothes as it was a freezing night, he was gone. There was no car to be seen with the 1089 noodle house logo or any idling car either. After calling them up, he came back and called me. When I replied that how could you not find the building, he gave me an immense attitude and told me whether I want the food or not. Then he hung up the phone on my face. I will rethink twice or thrice before I give them business again.
I used to order from them but now I switched to King Wah Delivery since they had a strict policy of not being able to deliver the food because I am 50cents short of their delivery minimum. Food was average but slightly too oily and honestly I am glad I switched. Not only did the person had sass with me on the phone for missing the 50 cents for minimum delivery but they seemed pleased that I decided to cancel the order. Even though I was a regular customer, (since their food was enough to get me through the weekend) they do not care for quality service because they Have a lot of regular customers. Well fine I will help them out by dropping that number by two since both me and my gf do not appreciate their services any longer. The King Wah delivery was able to make the same order (at a lower price) without any trouble, and it even came with a box and more utensils than this place. King Wah Ftw. Pce out Noodle house(alot of 10-89 menu items is not worth the $) =p
Not what it used to be. i came here before and had the braised beef noodle soup and it was decent, not the greatest but good stony brook, i wouldve rated it a 3 star back then but im going to rate it 1 star now. i ordered the braised beef noodle soup and received a bowl of noodles in water soup + 3 thin slices of cheap meat. the meat used to be hearty and chunky. the soup used to at least be beef soup. now its water soup, literally clear. what did i just eat. save yourself the trouble and eat somewhere else. dont waste your money here.
Its the worst staff i ever saw in new York. Very Bad behavior with 1st time customer. They couldnt explain what they are trying to say. Thry even shout for just getting questions about customized menu options. They wouldnt survive more in business if this is the behavior they continue with.
The taste is very good, and I often eat their takeaway. Although this shop is small, it is definitely worth visiting. The location is very suitable for the students from Stony Brook University next to come to eat here. I especially recommend their rice bowl series, which is delicious and large.

2022-05-06They claim to be a noodle house while they excel in stir-fried Chinese platters! Their dishes have a wide variety of different tastes and flavours cooked to perfection within the limits of affordable quick meals. I strongly recommend the basil fried rice, eggplant chicken and chili beef stir fry as my favorites, you dont find more tender & juicy stir-fried chicken breasts anywhere else.By the way, they are very generous with their portions!

2021-08-24Small place but really good food! Wait wasnt too long. You can sit in and take out, but they dont allow outside food but that isnt an issue. Its also a lot of food for your money, not too expensive. I got the Shangri-La style noodles (these are spicy), pan fried dumplings, an herbal tea, and a soy egg, absolutely delicious.

2019-03-13Pictured:Lunch Special: Eggplant with Garlic Sauce + Choice of soupEggplant came out great! Note that this may not be vegetarian due to the fired rice (had egg in it). Rice was a bit greasy, and there was a bit too much rice for me personally.Lunch Special: Sesame Chicken + Choice of soupStandard Americanized Chinese food. Again, the rice was a greasy, and there was far more rice than ideal.Wonton Soup:Pretty good soup. Broth was good, wontons were good.Appetizer: Scallion PancakesOkay serving size for the price. Definitely recommend the sauce- the pancakes are a bit bland otherwise. Pancakes looked to be fried as well, and were crisp. They also had Ramune available, which is always nice

2022-02-07I have tried food from four Chinese restaurants in the area. When most of us think of Chinese food, we think of Chinese-American fare like General Tso, Sesame Chicken, Beef with Broccoli, and Egg Rolls. Thats what I am after when I order Chinese. It seems the restaurants in this area have gotten a bit pretentious in the few years I was away from New York. The three other restaurants I found managed to screw up the winning formula of Salt/MSG + Fat + Sugar = delicious and all seem to adjust the classics with their own takes that actually remove from the experience. Some of them were delicious at first, but quickly wear you down until you can no longer enjoy eating their food.So far I tried the Sesame Chicken and Fried Rice, Beef and Broccoli and White Rice, the Egg Roll, and Roast Pork Lo Mein. The Sesame Chicken is good-tasting, but the fry resulted in an exterior that went beyond crunchy until it was difficult to chew. This was the worst performer. The white rice in my opinion is a lot better than the fried rice, and the white rice is the best of all the four restaurants (I ate it all, which is unusual for me). Usually I find Chinese fried rice delicious and my own homecooked fried rice boring and traditional, but the fried rice they provided was almost exactly what youd make by following an online recipe. It is probably a lot healthier however.Next was the Beef and Broccoli. The smell made me think I made a mistake ordering because it doesnt have the good aroma that I expected upon cracking it open, but the flavor was amazing. They could afford to work on aromatics, but that wont stop me from ordering it again. My favorite was the Lo Mein, which you really cant go wrong with. The prices of these meals were even better than the competition, and the portions seem to even be greater at a lesser price. As for the egg-roll... it wasnt as bad as other restaurants but still nothing Id go out of my way to order. The food is actually a 4/5 for me, but price/speed/service bump it up. Chinese delivery is one of the few services that will still accept cash and I value that as a customer.

2021-10-04Best general tsos chicken in the area! Flavor and texture wise its unbeatable, but when it comes to value, there is slightly more breading on the chicken, but the taste more than makes up for it.
