This was my second time here and can totally say it was just as good as the first. We ordered a couple of appetizers to share: Fried Tomatoes, Chips & Artichoke dip and Oysters. The apps came out pretty quickly and were all delicious. The fried tomatoes were really nice and crunchy on the outside and sweet and chewy on the inside. Our food came out just as we were finishing our appetizers, perfectly timed I must say. We ordered, the noodles, lasagna, filet mignon and sea bass. Each one of these dishes were damn near perfect, everyone was super pleased with their food and left not a single piece behind. I had the sea bass and it was cooked just right, laid on top of an amazing pistachio sauce with grilled broccoli on the side. It was just the right amount of food to fill you up but not make you feel overly heavy afterwards.I cant wait to come back again and try yet another amazing dish from this place.
A really fun spot with live music, solid food, and good vibes. we got the fried chicken, veggie jambalaya, burger, and duck poutine. the veggie jambalaya and duck poutine were our favorites… also the beignets were delicious! the service was also great and all the staff were very friendly. i would definitely recommend a night at 1803.
An amazing Cajun restaurant with lively jazz!I never thought Americans had a traditional fried rice dish (Jambalaya), and what surprised me more was it tastes really east-asian, ofc I really enjoyed it. We also ordered their XO sauce noodle and charbroiled oysters, they were so flavourful that my picky gf loved them too (well it became salty at the end she said). What I liked the most was the vivid ambience, I must say the jazz suited this place really well and we both vibed with it.If you want to try Cajun food or you want to listen to jazz, this place will def meet ur expectations.
Where to begin. The restaurant is themed after New Orleans and their famous cuisine. I attended dinner on a Saturday evening. Reservations are a must! The live jazz band was a beautiful touch to the food that i ordered. I ate the Cajun grilled oysters and Mac & cheese. To state that the oysters were seasoned to perfection is an understatement. The oysters were ordered twice, one for me and one for the table to avoid sharing. The Mac & Cheese was a blend of cheeses that included gouda and bread crumbs on top.I also indulged on the cheesecake that was underwhelming with a 50/50 ratio of pie to crust. Such thick crust took away from the dessert experience. Cheesecake not pictured.
A friend was raving about this place so a group of us decided to have a birthday brunch here today and it didnt disappoint. We had a lovely time. There is outdoor seating but we chose to sit inside on the little balcony. The decor (which I dont usually comment on) was fun, and they also had live jazz which was wonderful and they sang happy birthday to my friend. Now for the food:The pitchers of passion fruit mimosas were great. The roasted Brussel sprouts devine. I ordered the poutine which comes with (melt in your mouth) duck and fries, gravy, and sunny side eggs. It was great. The Mac and Cheese also included herbs which was interesting. Not bad just different.A friend ordered the vegan burger which was delicious but has a spicy sauce which was a bit too spicy (so beware). The chicken and waffles were good but its only served with dark meat so if you prefer white try the chicken sandwich instead. The pulled pork sandwich is very good and so where the fries. The scrambled eggs were good, fluffy and yet creamy. The biscuits came steaming hot with butter and jam definitely try them! Finally, our waitress (Ena/Ina) was amazing, she answered all our questions and even asked if anyone had allergies. She checked with us regularly, gave great suggestions and tips, and even helped plate the cake we bought from a local bakery.Overall a great place to go for good food and live music. Definitely add it to your list
The fried chicken here had the perfect amount of saltiness and crisp - I honestly didn’t expect it to be that good and that’s exactly why I’m coming back here. We also ordered the red snapper ceviche and charbroiled oysters and they are seasoned to PERFECTION. We ate every last bit.For the drinks we ordered several Jean Lafitte’s which are so sweet and really get them job done.My only recommendation for this place is to not order the Bouillabaisse, it literally tastes like wet dog, hence the 4/5 stars. Everything else on the menu is divine though. Can’t wait go back!
The jalapeño appetizer didn’t even have a taste, I’d never get it again.Salad was pretty good, it has sour taste and the goat cheese was a really good addition. The desert was also good, but I’d expect it to be same as on the menu, yet it has less chocolate… I wasn’t a fan of thatOverall, the food is mediocre, (at lest what I tasted) service is good and place needs to be cleaner.Hope it improves.
1803 NYC was the perfect restaurant to get me in the Mardi Gras spirit. The decor had character and depth giving you the New Orleans vibe of Frenchmen Street. The food was surprisingly good. My favorite was the poutine and gumbo. Definitely will be back to try more items on the menu. Laissez le bon temps rouler!
Cute, little, lively spot! I had the Goat cheese salad, grilled shrimp, and tuna tartare. The Goat cheese salad was so gooood with the crusted pistachios. The grilled shrimp were BIG and juicy. The Tuna tartare was fresh. Others in my group had the Fried Chicken which was kinda bland not what you would expect from. Cajun Creole spot.
A bit saddened. Gumbo is awful. Not New Orleans flavor-inspired. It tastes more like a tomato stew with shrimp in it. Which you might not pick up on if you’re unfamiliar with gumbo. I don’t taste the soul or anything Cajun. I would return for a drink or light, social appetizer. But the chef should make some friends from the bayou and tweak that recipe a little bit.
I hesitate to call this restaurant the best fun restaurant in NYC because frankly there are just so many incredible restaurants in this city, there’s no way I’m going to know about all of them! An every day a new one pops out that makes the decision harder :) BUT honestly 1803 is really really up there in top fun list because they also have live amazing jazz music 🎶 🎼. A casual, fun , environment with good food and great music that can truly turn your night to a happy night and you can really have a good time. 💃🏻 🕺🏻 🎶 🤩
Celebrating my Birthday in NYC. Had a taste for authentic Cajun cuisine. Made reservations at 7:30 p.m. got lost on the subway. It seemed like forever, but Felix (one of the wait staff) was very patient and accommodating. He pushed our reservations back and even called to check on us. Once we arrived, he knew immediately who I was and greeted us with his beautiful smile. Tiffany (our waitress) was EVERYTHING!! We love her energy and smile. She was a breathe of fresh air. Please see Tiffany when you visit, she will take care of you. Happy Birthday Tiffany!♈ The owner T. from Israel (so sorry, couldnt remember to spell your name). Hes the best!! He treated us like family, helped wishing me happy birthday, gave us his signature shot (soooooooo good by the way), and the staff sang happy birthday to me. The food was out of this world. I had the jambalaya. The flavors were beautiful in my mouth with all of the richness and flavors combined. I also ordered a Mojito which was awesome as well. This restaurant also had a live band as well which was phenomenal to hear. The area where the restaurant is located is beautiful. Thank you for making my birthday special and I cannot wait to come back again.
Highs: Baked oysters, Gumbo, **Sweet potato mash, Bread Pudding. Not so much: Cajun escargot was a like gamey, Duck breast was a bit over cooked.Overall the menu items that were good, were so good that they outshined the lows. **The Sweet potato mash, was the best Ive ever had, it was very fluffy and tasty unlike the usual hefty sugar bomb.Service was good and will repeat to try other items.
Loved the ambience and indoor decor of the place. Cocktails were great. The live band on the balcony is good entertainment. We got the jambalaya (a favorite of the place) but was disappointing it lacked spices and proper flavor like true creole cooking. Also got the friend chicken meal which came with boneless chicken resembling tenders (was expecting chicken in bones) so that was a let down. The biscuit it come with was more of a fresh baked dinner roll. Charbroiled Oysters for the appetizer were excellent . Would def come back for cocktails and the vibe of the place.
Good outdoor seating. Friendly team but service almost non existent outside for lunch. Ceviche was just okay. Fish pieces in ceviche were tough. Fried oysters over priced though good and crunchy. Salsa that came with it was not fresh but Aioli dip was good. Duck with mash is good and priced well for what you get. During lunch, free soup was offered with lunch entree. Next time will go for cocktails and try other dishes.
My friend found 1803 and we all went for lunch and all of us thoroughly enjoyed it! Excellent customer service and tasty food in a very cool environment! I love the space! It’s open and airy! The bar section is super cool! This is an awesome spot to grab lunch or just drinks! You can’t go wrong! I loved the pulled pork sandwich! The portion size was HUGE! So bring an appetite!
This is not cajun/creole food. If you know what NOLA food tastes like, you will be disappointed. Spicy doesnt = cajun/creole. On a positive note, the bread was fantastic and they seemed to have a decent bar, but I didnt have any alcoholic drinks so I cant comment on that. Im adding a pic of the gumbo with the rice that they offered. It came with... lemons? Not authentic. In Louisiana, we take our creole food seriously and this was offensive.Edited to add: 30 minutes later, the gumbo gave me bad heartburn because it was so greasy.
So my friend and I wanted to hang out but I needed a plant base vegan option n I remember this was on my go to places I wanted to try. Our server was Nicole she was very informative, helpful with making sure I had items that were friendly to my dietary needs. I also am not drinking alcohol and she was able to create a Mocktail just for me that was so very delicious with ginger, pineapple and it was so delicious. I absolutely loved the sweet chili honey brussel sprout oh my goodness I could eat that forever. The vegan jambalaya was spicy and made with tofu, it was okay. It needed something more flavor wise, Im not sure I cant put my finger on it. Maybe the seasoning or the tomato base needed more depth. Overall it was really nice esp outdoor as the evening got dark with the lights and florals. We were able to get some beautiful scenery pictures.
Eclecticism at its finest! Diverse menu with amazing choices for almost any diner! Had a wonderful time thanks to the wonderful service and will definitely be back again to try the options I couldnt choose this this time around! Needless to say at this point but, the cocktails were perfectly portioned and amazing also!
Loved this place! The ambiance and live music were lovely touches and the food was on point - great raw oysters and wonderful fried chicken. During our dinner a table on the floor above spilled a drink that proceeded to fall on us in the booth below. Not certain much can be done about this but maybe some gap coverage to prevent leaks in the future? Service was great overall, however, and would definitely come back!
As soon as you walk in, you feel like youre in NOLA! Beautiful decor and live music playing bring extra joy. Its a nice touch of floral wallpaper that brings you into a Bourbon street Cafe.We ordered the Mango Bellini, trust me...it was really good (another round please!) Food was to die for, especially the crawfish cakes.. Everyone should check it out!
If youre thinking of coming here - dont hesitate. The food, the ambiance, the live music and the service is top notch! I had a lovely dinner there last night with friends and we had THE BEST SERVER named Steven helping us. He informed us when HH was closing for us to quickly get a few apps and drinks in, gave us great recommendations on the food, and then regularly checked in on us even when it got packed. Oysters were fresh but all of the food was excellent! Hopefully youll get lucky to get Steven as your server as he was the best!
During the summer, I finally got to visit one of the spot on my list, 1803 NYC. They offer New Orleans style food, like The outdoor seating was massive, and, it was covered, so no need to worry about the rain. Even though the outdoor seating looked nice, but the interior looked so beautiful!!! And, for that reason, we opted to eat inside instead of outdoor. We ordered Watermelon Lychee Sangria and Fais Do-Do for boozy brunch. The Sangria was AWESOME! The flavor seeps out from the watermelon into the drink, and the drink got stronger as the time passed even with the melting ice cubes. Fais Do-Do was was very fruity, and elegantly sweet. Bigger glass than expected, which was great! We enjoyed this one a lot too. They food menu looked super enticing, we wanted to order them all… We decided on Jambalaya and Cast Iron Cajun Frittata. Jambalaya tastes so good! It had perfect seasoning, loads of tender chicken, plump sausage and shrimp, a great dish! Frittata was loaded with plump crawfish and sausage, and packed with flavor. Every bite was a delight. While dining, a jazz band came in and started to play music from the balcony up top. We were not expecting that, and it was so nice! Their music was mellow and soothing, not loud but just loud enough to hear every note. Perfect for a relaxing weekend brunch! We had an amazing brunch here. The atmosphere, the music, the cocktails, and the food…everything was great! We would definitely go back for more and more. I can’t wait for my family to be able to come for a visit again, this will be the first place we will take them!
The one word I can think of for my experience was, blindsided. We dined last night for my sisters birthday. We started off with The Calliope cocktail. The perfect refreshing drink with rum punch, ginger and not too sweet. Our appetizers of choice were the grilled oysters made with a beautifully zesty, spicy chilli garlic butter sauce and served with toasted bread for dipping. YUM! The other was a Red Snapper ceviche. Sadly, this was awful in my opinion. It was missing acidity and the snapper didnt taste fresh. We thought perhaps that was just a little hiccup, as the entire menu looked promising. We were wrong. I decided on the Maple bourbon glazed duck breast served with sweet mashed potatoes and fermented cabbage. My sister ordered the Bouillabaisse with calamari, shrimp and beans in a lobster stock. Boy, were we wrong. For a cajun restaurant, I was speechless on the lack of flavor. My food arrived and I immediately noticed it had been sitting a while, the mashed sweet potato was hardened on the edge of the plate and to make it worse it was so bland. The glazed duck breast was nothing special, glazed lacked the sweet richnessI was looking for. The bouillabaisse had an off-putting taste. Just awful. She decided instead on the grilled Branzino on mashed sweet potato. Again, nothing special and lacked flavor. We also ordered a side of macaroni and cheese. Though it looked good, but again no flavor or cheese as it seemed. So my question to management is, where exactly was the cajun? I was absolutely looking forward to my dining experience and really wanted to rave about this restaurant but, could not have predicted this disappointment. On a lighter note, the place is gorgeous and outdoors is whimsical. Staff is amazing. Ariel, the host was delightful in helping to orchestrate my birthday cucpake surprise. Hopefully, I can at least return for cocktails and grilled oysters.
To start with the positive, the service and cocktails were great! Unfortunately, some of the food was lacking in flavor and the charbroiled oysters we ordered were non-existent. The oysters were super small and two of the shells barely had any oyster meat in them. It was not a great experience for the price.
Honestly suprised by the raving reviews about the food and drinks. Were they all paid influencers or something? Anyways the vibe and service were great. Its nicely decorated inside and outside. My friend and I came at 3pm expecting lunch but they were still serving brunch. We got several apps to share as the entrees for brunch are nothing special. I like how the restaurant uses paper straw and QR code for menu to be more sustainable.Good: Calliope (if you like 🍍), Charbroiled Oysters, Cajun ShrimpSo So: Poutine- large portion so better to share. After a while, the fries bacame soggy ☹️Not so good: Spinach and Artichoke Dip- though I do love my veggies, it was way too green and lacked cream. It looked like a spinach smoothie. Jean LaFitte- all over IG but it only looks pretty. Not enough lavender or dragonfruit flavor.
Food here is good. We didn’t have a reservation but the hostess managed to get us seated outside after a 15 min wait which wasn’t bad at all for a Friday evening. The ambiance is nice given the pandemic which necessitated the outdoor dining. As for the dining experience, the charbroiled oysters were delicious and unique in taste. The cajun shrimp were also delicious and had a hint of cumin which made these unique in taste as well. My bouillabaisse was tastier as it cooled or toward the end of the meal and the jambalaya also was a hearty and sizable portion. All meals were overall satisfying. The service is lacking since our waiter or server took our order, the food was served but we never saw her for more than two instances when she actually took the order. I would give 3.5 stars. Though it’s busy, she should check at least once to see that everything was as expected. Well she showed up a third time to issue the bill of course. Maybe she’s new.
The live Jazz band was SPECTACULAR!The french75 cocktail was really flavorful without feeling too sugary. There was a group of burlesque dancers, they were really good, but I was a bit worried about trafficking, some of the girls looked very very young. I wonder if there is a way to make sure the dancers are being treated ethically?
Great staff and service. Go on Saturday for brunch to get a cocktail from Angelo. Hes a mix master!I highly recommend the mango mimosa and the passion fruit margarita, both are outstanding.I enjoyed the grilled oysters, which had a subtle taste and the frittata, which was filling without being dense. And they make the best biscuit Ive ever had in NYC, and Im a Southern man that knows his biscuits. Its a well appointed space with an open, inviting atmosphere. As a bonus, they have live music every day and its a great jazz sound. The place is a true gem, and I cant recommend it enough. Great place to go to recharge your batteries and recover from COVID-19 fatigue.
Amazing food and very intimate vibe. Loved everything about this place. The dim lights definitely gives a romantic vibe.Food is worth the price, you get great servings and it tastes great.Customer service is fantastic, our waiter checked on us and even took the food back when it was to our liking and brought it back freshly done.
Stopped by here for a post-brunch bite and drinks and this place is a gem. Their outdoor set up is beautiful and their indoor decor is unique and special as well. The drinks do not disappoint and the key lime pie and Mac and cheese are superb. I’ll definitely be back for a full meal!
My favorite restaurant in New York. Drinks and food are always spot on. I stick to seafood dishes primarily. The Bouillabaisse and Branzino are both solid dishes. It’s really hard to find an establishment in NYC that has both great food and quality classic cocktails and craft cocktails. Usually you get great food and bad drinks or great drinks ana bad food. But not here! 1803 does not disappoint and they consistently offer phenomenal fare and great service.
Customer service is everything and this place just doesnt have it. Made reservations and couldnt be seated inside because I didnt leave the request took more than a hour to be seated inside (freezing outside) The food was excellent but because our horrid experience with hostesses and servers we didnt enjoy our meal & time. No new Orleans/ Jazz music as mentioned, mostly Spanish (said its after hours, not while serving). Dont let tik tok fool you place is cramped, ugly and bathrooms are horrid.
Skip this place if you want good service, food and drinks. The service was poor. We waited for our server to come and didnt think much of it until she went to a table that was seated after us, bought them water and took their orders before coming to our table. When she finally came to our table, we had to ask for water since we hadnt received any at that point. We ordered three different drinks and they all tasted the same. The food was bland. We got the fried chicken, the trout, the jambalaya and the mac and cheese. The jambalaya was okay. Everything else was bland.
I had the Cajun escargot for an app. The addition of the Cajun spice to the butter was a welcome twist to the traditional style. This inspired me to ask for extra bread just to sop up the butter.I followed it up with the crawfish cake Benedict. Totally worth the extra calories. My wife had the blackened catfish sandwich. The fish was very tasty and didnt disappoint. The only short fall of the meal was the bloody Mary. Not sure if it was a bad recipe or just a weak mix, however, they quickly replaced it with a Mimosa for the wife and all was forgiven. The addition of the live music and the magician going from table to table made the entire experience worthwhile.Service was great and we didnt have to wait long for our food.A definite cant miss if youre in the neighborhood. I would venture to say the experience is totally worth the trip downtown.Great place, great atmosphere, great vibe.I enjoyed it immensely.
Very good restaurant with a pleasant aesthetic, nice vibe and great appetizers, and strong drinks. The waiter we had was so welcoming, the right level of attentive and was phenomenal at his job. I cant recall his name, though he sounded French. They have a strong appetizer menu. I specifically chose 1803 because they had shishito peppers, roasted oysters and escargot (which was a first for me and very good!) The twice Ive been, I enjoyed the entree as well. I had the Special Bless burger the first time, then the Boubassie the latter. The seafood stew was less exciting, the broth was watery than I would have liked, I tasted batata(?) which is an odd inclusion, but did enjoy the contents of the dish nontheless, and ate all the seafood. My partner loves this restaurant and we rate it top tier.
Drinks were great and STRONG! Mac and cheese was okay, Brussel sprouts were great the spinach dip was cold. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be that way but it did not taste as well as other spinach dips. The music is very loud! Great ambience but not a place to go on a. First date. The basement is a little less loud. Maybe sitting outside is better.
I met up there Friday evening (in their outdoor shed-like area) with new international friends. It was so noisy inside the venue you couldnt hear yourself think. There was a private party taking place downstairs (where a bathroom was) -- but honestly -- without fans moving around -- all I could think about was COVID Super-spreader event. Service was attentive and the three appetizers we ordered were great with special mention going to the honey-glazed chili-flaked brussels spouts. The restaurant is located about two blocks away from the Chambers Street express stop on the 2/3 lines making it convenient to reach.
Writing this review at 2am as I am up sick from the gumbo (great flavor at the time, must have been some spoiled seafood. That unfortunately overshadowed the whole experience.Charming decor and we loved the live music. Waiters were constantly coming around, but timing and pace of meal was way off. Our Waitress was not helpful at describing dishes or giving suggestions. When ordering drinks, a member of our party asked “do you have a specialty cocktail with gin you’d recommend” and the waitress said, with attitude: “all of our drinks are written on the menu” -__- .We ended up picking 3 house cocktails- okay but none great. The suspicious part was all 3 came out in about a minute and a half. Not sure if it was pre-mixed or what… but they couldn’t have been built and mixed fresh that fast. For apps we had Brussels, escargot, and grilled oysters- all very good.Meals: 2 people got jambalaya- good. 1 burger - bad (the fries were good) and I got the gumbo which made me physically sick. Started to feel it half way through the bowl.
Five stars for ambiance and decor, both upstairs in the main dining area and downstairs in the bar. Five stars for a welcoming, professional, and kind staff who seem to enjoy their work and have a good sense of community cohesion. The place is clean and well managed. Five stars for the cocktails downstairs and the playlist. However, I only give this spot 3/5 because the food was’t good. We ordered two appetizers, two main dishes, and two desserts, but nothing tasted fresh. Our meal was bland, felt like pre-made, processed food, like something you’d find at a chain restaurant or from a package. Presentation was very nice however. I’d come back for a drink and hang downstairs, but won’t eat here again.
Our server was so kind, she took our order even if she was trying to close for the night. A very nice outdoor setting with clean, warm, ,chic, separate tables to enjoy time with friends and family feeling secure. We love how NYC Restaurant are trying so hard to keep customer happy! Thank you 😊🙏✨😋 Food/appetizers was drinks were delicious 😋🤗🙏
My brother and I stopped here on a whim for lunch and we were sat very quickly. The bartender and servers were fantastic. Very nice and good about checking in on us. The ambiance is soothing and the decor is gorgeous.Their old fashioned wad very good and a bit on the sweet side, the pulled pork sandwich is very unique, good and not like anything I have ever tried before. The blackened catfish sandwich was cooked perfectly and dressed well. My only suggestion would be a bit more seasoning just because it bordered on being bland, however, it was still a decent fish sandwich.Definitely recommend.
What a great birthday brunch! Had reservations but got there early so we sat at the bar. Great choice! Had a wonderful bartender, Angelo, who was gracious, smart and made a great mimosa and fabulous Bloody Mary. We had cajun shrimp, spiced perfectly, buttermilk battered fried oysters, which were heaven in your mouth, eggs benedict, with awesome bacon and beignets. All were delicious. The music was a live trio and when they were on break the house music was smooth and enjoyable. Great vibe. Great people watching. The staff was all smiling and dancing and singing and basically having just a great time. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back. For sure.
Went here with friends in the summer of 2021. Vibe was good but the food was actually inedible. Not sure if it was an off day or something? I got the duck and it was too tough to even chew, my friend got the veggie burger and said it was the worst she’d ever had. Still, I’d actually be willing to give it a second try if I knew something was just wrong that day. I honestly have no idea why it was so bad, it seemed like something was off.
Food wise the restaurant is amazing the food is delicious and you gonna enjoy everything from cocktails to main course, appetizers everything is tasty.I am giving 4 stars because the food is amazing but the service was really bad.we came at 2:00 p.m. for lunch and the server who was serving us took her about 25 minutes to take our order while she only had 3 tables and one of those tables came after us, she serve them first. We feel like she was ignoring us intentionally.Again the food was amazing, Ill definitely come back for the food.Btw I am a server too and I never complain about service but this time was exception.
Amazing cajun food in NYC. Came here on a Sunday afternoon around 230 and got immediately seated w out a reservation. The place has a tropical/bayou look in terms of decor with live jazz musicians treating us to some tunes. The service was great from our waiter. Random, but I must reccomend the frenct toast which was amazing. We got the black fish sandwich w fries, jambalaya and the miranted chicken all of which were terrific. Cooked and flavored just right. The red sauce must be added to the jambalaya for the extra flavor.
I happened upon this place because of the live music. The ambience of the outdoor dining is great and they’ve done a good job at making it a place where I want to sit outside. Cocktails were great and the staff were super nice. The food however was ok. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it tasted like the frozen kind you buy at the supermarket. The spinach dip was great and so was the jambalaya.
This place has a lovely atmosphere and the customer service is everything. The entries are “heaven” on Earth, would totally recommend the mushrooms and the pork belly. The sandwiches are delicious and go well with any drink. If you are a salad enthusiast you might be a bit disappointed. The salads are a bit boring and overpriced. The overall experience is quite enjoyable. Go to 1803 if you’re ready for a trip to New Orleans in NYC.
Love their outdoor seating, its enclosed but separated from other diners and it is heated. Took off one star because I didnt enjoy the Crab Kale Cesar salad. The crab texture was really odd, smelled super fishy and did not taste good at all, I drenched it in the jalapeño sauce we got for the oysters because I really was starving. The dressing was also way off, just tasted like mayonnaise. Truly the only enjoyable part of the salad was the croutons. I got a hot toddy for happy hour and the banana pudding was really good! My friend enjoyed her salad. The waitress was great and attentive. So overall dining experience I give 4 stars. If I were to rate the Kale Salad though I would give it 1 star.
Leveled up Creole food without being pretentious. Every single bite and sip we had in this place was amazing. The jambalaya was packed with flavor and the right amount of spice. That fried chicken and biscuit meal though... Id go out of my way to come back here just for that. Loved the cocktails and the little history it shared. Dim lighting, NOLA inspired decor, great music, and a cool staff make for a fun atmosphere.
Just wonderful. I had delicious oyrsters and Cajun rice and now I’m having lychee sangria listening this amazing band. All excellent! Excellent staff, Tal is a sweetheart. I’m a Decorator and I can tell the decoration is just gorgeous. Very much care in details. The mint inside the water is just a beauty.
It seem like the good place but service is quite bad. Maitre is friendly. But other staffs is quite bad. We wait for long time (~30mins) to get table and wait more time to order~ None staff asked us. She walked pass and service another customer. Ok fine we are done. Dont wanna waste time
I made a reservation but was stuck in the subway and they were accommodating to us showing up late. The food was delicious and the mimosas were truly bottomless. They have a vast brunch menu with lots of unique selections. They also provide you with hot sauces that are spicy to accompany the food.
Nice service, I mean food was good and reasonable price, it is first restaurant I ever been since pandemic 2020. So I am seriously back to my favorite one. And Explority downtown again. But after couple days , I just routine check my CC transportation, do not asking why, in NYC U HAVE TO be careful CC fraud, yes then I fund name CHURCH PUBLICK NEW YORK charge me 67$(it is on pending)thanks my Citibank, they r fantastic work. This is permanent closed restaurant, just next door to 1803. So now I know what’s happened after I handing my CC to waitress in 1803. And that’s why my friend always advices me DO NOT HANDING YOUR CC TO WAITER OR WAITRESS EXCEPT it is very good and trusty place or u see them put your CC in slot. I know it is tough time for restaurant business. But all above it , is Honest! do not lost it.
My friend recommended 1803 NYC for a small girls-brunch and I am so glad she did. The restaurant was very cute and summer-y. We sat on their interior balcony and people watched while we chatted. The waitresses and waiters were so kind. They gave us the privacy we needed, but were still attentive to our needs. I got the frittata and substituted the home fries with french fries. I also got slabs of bacon on the side because why not!! The wait staff was lovely, the ambiance was calming, and the food was beyond filling and delicious. The brunch meals come with coffee. It is not a bottomless brunch spot, if that is what you are looking for, but it’s nice if you want to have a 2.5/3 hour catch up with friends. SO ENJOY!!!
Amazing cocktails, even the descriptions blew me away. The catfish burger and Norwegian eggs were die for. Perfect NOLA jazz in the background. Courteous hostesses. Beautiful ambience. Clean toilet.Dunno why this place doesnt get Michelin rated. Obviously the food menu is set and there is no star for such places but I have seen 1 star Michelin marks falter where 1803 excelled. Would love to recommend the place and the Voodoo Queen cocktail to anyone.
WOW! Awesome live music, great cocktails (frose) and delicious food. We had the oysters, ceviche and snails. This was delicious and an awesome vibe. Easily the best outdoor dining setup I’ve seen so far. This is pretty expensive.. cheaper places around nyc but whatever it’s great!
I went last night, with my two best friends, Logan and Jason. We got an amazing table upstairs , facing Jazz Combo playing amazing music. We shared escargot and fried oysters, then we had Jambalaya, Duck and Shrimp with grits. One entree was better than the next. The service was top notch and waiters attractive, smiling and super helpful. Cannot say enough about 1803. We had a super fun evening
I made a reservation 3 weeks in advance for Fat Tuesday-- I got there and they had no record of my reservation. The hostess basically shrugged her shoulders. I spoke to 2 managers and showed them the booking email and was given a table. The food there is amazing, but the service is pretty bad. The waitress was pushy with drinks (I get it, its Fat Tuesday, and thats how they make most of their money) but Im an alcoholic, and when I have to announce that to the waitress to get them to back off, it is upsetting. When I say no, Im sticking with water, I mean no, Im sticking with water. I shouldnt have to explain why to get you to stop. My party ordered appetizers and dinner, and it took almost an hour for any food to arrive. We had to flag another server down to ask for bread since we were all hungry and tired of waiting. Meanwhile, the wait staff had plenty of time for long hugs and taking photos of one another wearing feather masks. Once we did get the food, it was quite good (and I lived on the Gulf Coast for two years, I know good cajun). I wont go back, because even with good food, its not worth the openly bad service.
The authentic, fun New Orleans French Quarter vibes are only part of the reason why you should visit 1803. The drinks are good and the food is upscale yet affordable. If you happen to be there for lunch, dont miss out on the green curry boneless fried chicken with smoked oyster aioli, homemade pickled peppers and mac & cheese!
Horrible service with a side of food poisoning. The waitress never took our order, we gave it to the busboy. Had to leave our table to fill up our drinks because she never came to our table, only to collect the checks.I told the manager and she refused to comp our meal that we only had three bites of because it tasted sour and cold, but instead offered to remedy the situation with a free dessert.Long story short, I paid $30 just to vomit for the rest of the night.
Nice ambiance. Strong drinks and interesting selection of drinks. Good food. Service was ok...there is a 1-hr max time at the tables, so the staff will come by OFTEN to ask how you are doing and sort of hurry you along. Over all I liked the place and my companion thought it was a good choice as well.
A bit pricey but fitting with the neighborhood. Regardless, the food is worth the price. Ive been twice now for lunch time. They are a little slow with service, keep that in mind if you want to keep your lunch short and call your order in ahead of time. The vegan jambalaya was spicy and yummy The veggie burger is a deep red - very interesting color, Im guessing they use beets in the mix. Ive heard great things about the catfish sandwich too! The outdoor area is beautifully setup.
Date and Time- Nov 27th 8pm.First time in here. Wanted come here for a long time. Couldnt make it. First impression, horrible. Its the host. I called twice today. Male answered the phone said, no reservations needed walk in.When the host saw us, she already decided, I am not giving you a freaking table. There were 4 tops available. Its the bar or leave. Thats was her attitude. Tall dark skin girl.I really blame the the manager for not training her. Basically, host took 1 star away from the restaurant. After that, everything was good. Sat at the bar and had an awesome time. Bartenders Paulina and the tattooed guy was awesome. Jazz band was good. Tucker kept blowing that horn. I owned 15 restaurants in Manhattan and Brooklyn over 20 years. Now I write blogs about restaurants. I have over 11 million views.Rude host didnt know that. Thats why in NYC, you have to treat everyone equally. You dont know who you would be dealing with.I will be back. Hopefully Rude host wont be there.
I do not like to write reviews about restaurants because most of them do meet the basic service standards. This place did not at all! I am sorry but the staff that we encountered last night was not good. The hostess was good, she was very polite and courteous. Our first waitress was not good at all, she decided to abandon ship without letting our table know after taking orders for our drinks that we never received. We had to seek another waitress to take our orders. While we were waiting for our drinks, our first waitress was spotted sitting across the room eating a plate of food, folding napkins and drinking wine. I understand people are tired or may have a bad day, but do not come to work with an attitude. Do not give this attitude to the patrons, one- we do not care! two- we are not there for you. If you are having a really bad day speak to your manager and have them put other duties so you do not impact the customers experience. On a positive, the music was great and the decoration was beautiful. However, we will not be returning to this restaurant and will strongly discourage any of our peers to come to this place. Who wants to spend over $500 at a place for bad basic service?
I made a reservation but was stuck in the subway and they were accommodating to us showing up late. The food was delicious and the mimosas were truly bottomless. They have a vast brunch menu with lots of unique selections. They also provide you with hot sauces that are spicy to accompany the food.
The food was incredibly good but after two rounds of drinks, our waitress stopped serving our table. We saw her sitting and drinking wine at another table, which would have been fine if someone communicated that another person would be serving us. It felt like they ditched us halfway through dinner. It was my birthday.
This is my first time sharing a negative review of a restaurant . Generally , I can find something positive that can outweigh a bad experience . Unfortunately , no so with this restaurant . My family and I were looking forward to a birthday celebration . The reviews were positive and the menu items sound delicious . However , this restaurant was a huge disappointment for all seven of us . The service was bland , not even a decent greeting . Food is awful , certainly nothing like New Orleans cruisine. Our jambalaya was a big bowl of rice with chunks of dark/thigh chicken pieces . A few sprinkles of sausage and absolutely no visible shrimp . Shrimp appetizer -tasteless/small/overpriced plate of 5 tiny shrimp on a big plate of lettuce. I cannot recommend this place except maybe for drinks . If you like “ wanna be “ overpriced , Cajun food , then you will love it . Otherwise , save your money and appetite for a place that at least makes an effort to serve food that resembles the dishes of New Orleans .
Cajun flavor in the city. I have always wanted to try this place so when one of my friends organized the brunch I jumped at the chance to go. The staff is very friendly, make great suggestions, and the food is delicious!! And the cocktails have a kick to them with a unique flavor.Special shout out to our wonderful waitress, Leia, for providing such professional, kind, and excellent service.I would strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to have some tasty dinner in the city with a lovely ambiance.
Very disappointing! I chose this place because it indicated a New Orleans type menu. There were a few of those but not many. I chose the Jambalaya and the chicken tasted like they threw leftovers in. It was supposed to contain shrimp but I couldn’t find any. The service was mediocre at best. We will not be returning.
It’s my second time here and I can’t find anything to complain. First time was with one of my friends who knew the owner here; he was very friendly and offered us much for free. Then today I went to lunch to get the Jimbalaya, or whatever the Cajun fried rice is called, again and got told that we can choose between a beer or soup for free! Service is good and the restaurant itself is so nice. Will definitely return here sometime in the future. ❤️
1803 NYC is an excellent addition to the area. Menu items are very good and the crew is very helpful. Each and every single thing that we ordered was incredibly fresh and tasty. This place is ridiculous. Great place and the prices are fair. Extremely delicious and also wholesome. Staff is incredibly polite and can help you with anything. 1803 NYC - You guys are terrific!
Tasty food. Music is great, with some quality live jazz most evenings. Ambience is impressive, open, airy and inviting, upscale but relaxed. Theres a top secret speakeasy room downstairs. The cocktails. The cocktails are out of this world. They are designed and engineered by a mysterious consortium of mad scientist mixologists. One of the best spots in Tribeca.
I made a reservation one month in advance for a party of two. We arrived on time and the hostess was so rude she told us there were no indoor tables and we had to be seated in the freezing cold at 8pm in mid December. The reservations didn’t offer a choice for indoor or outdoor dining, otherwise we would have selected indoor. They were not just disrespectful but their demeanor was unpleasant. We were told they only had tables for larger parties but there were at least 5 couples sitting in tables for 4. We decided to leave, but not without reviewing how poorly we were treated and what a shameful customer service for a place that seemed worth visiting.
The food was amazing but our server was really distracted. I went there for dinner with my friends who were visiting from LA. Once seated, my friends and I noticed that our server was taking a really long time to check in with us. When I went looking for her she was having a casual conversation with another server. Throughout dinner, I got up to look for our server several times to find her having side conversation with other employees rather than checking on us.
Cute place. Just inattentive waiters. Sat there for 15 mins on a slow Sunday evening and had to ask for a waiter to tend to my table. It was just myself dining and after I ordered an appetizer and drink, another 15 min passed by and my waitress walked past me twice and never came to me to take my order. I politely asked for my check from someone else who seemed bothered because she wasn’t assign to my table. It’s a shame but I’d rather leave famished than support poor customer service . Again it was a very slow day. I went 10/10/21 5:15 reservations
Just a heads up, almost every item on the menu is spicy and I am not a spicy food person. The drinks were amazing! I had a watermelon lynchee sangria with white wine which was delicious 😋. Since I did not like spicy food, I got the mac and cheese and the sweet potatoes which was really good.
We were a party of three and dined outside. The tables were nicely spaced and the sound level was quiet. We started our meal with oysters which were fresh and delicious. My partner had the gumbo which He liked. I had the Duck breast which came with a huge portion of creamy sweet potatoes and not so much Duck breast. The Duck was really delicious but I wish there was more of it. My Son had the split pea soup and Catfish sandwich which he happily devoured. Overall we enjoyed our meal and the service was good. We will probably come back to sample some of their other dishes.
Adequate gumbo. Good fried oysters. Half of the biscuits were soft, the other half firm (on purpose?). The jambalaya was very dry rice with dry chicken and surprisingly tasteless sliced sausage (no shrimp, oddly) and the dish just didnt come together or taste like any jambalaya Ive ever had. The gumbo was a little watery but very tasty. The fried chicken was very good, crispy minimal breading and soft interior. If you come, have the oysters, gumbo and fried chicken.
Oh my gosh Ive walked passed this place so often once leaving work ,my Only disappointment is in myself not trying this place sooner phenomenal 👍👍💕💕 is the best way to put it. The charcoal oysters something weve NEVER EVER tried before was to die for . So nice we had it twice . Fried chicken plate was delicious with the pickled apples amazing
The vibes are great. The drinks are great. Unfortunately, the food was just ok. There is a bit of a culture clash here. 1803 is an upscale restaurant serving food at an upscale price. Creole/New Orleans food is, in the most respectful way possible, not that. Because of this mismatch, its not a very authentic experience. 1803s jambalaya is a good example of the problem. Authentic jambalaya is cheap. Most of the taste comes from the spices. Normally, at any given event in NOLA, you can scoop a bowl of acceptable jambalaya for around 5 bucks. At 1803, the jambalaya is 26 dollars. There are fresh scallions, a big fresh pepper, and all the different types of meats you could want. In theory, this is great. You pay a lot to eat a fancier jambalaya. But in practice, it doesnt really taste like jambalaya. I feel for the restauranteur. You can not sell the moist, almost over spiced authentic version for 26 bucks. And you cant make money selling an 8 dollar entree at a boutique NYC restaurant. My best guess is this tension led to the end result: an oversized, mediocre dish that tasted a little to much like fried rice. I hate to blast this restaurant. There are a lot of reasons to like this place. Im sure its a fun date spot or place for a night out. But if you (the reader) come here with the same expectations I did (to eat really amazing creole food) you may be disappointed.
I don’t understand the high ratings .. not a warm friendly inviting place to eat ! I felt very unwelcomed when stopped in for lunch after appointment.Waitresses very unfriendly and distant.I promise not to give my business to a place where I am made to feel like my business isn’t wanted.Burger was ok but hair or lint thread in my soup !Please have your chefs wear a cap and hair net !
This has been my first time dining out since the start of the pandemic. A friend convinced me to go out and picked this spot. I was impressed on attentive our server was as well as the bus staff and others. They were very quick to clean up any spills, messes and keeping the tables sanitized. Now to the food, tried a few appetizers because they all looked inviting and I was not disappointed in anyway, the oysters were SLAP! Man that hurricane sure was good, also tried a drink called Oh the places youll go,, very good. Bread pudding was good, couldve used a fruit puree or compote to top it off but good nonetheless. I had the jambalaya and it wasnt disappointing.
This place was good overall. I mean the food and staff were good however, they need to set some RAT traps on the sidewalk. I know this is NYC and it’s a dirty city but when a pack of rats disrupt your meal twice, it’s a problem. These rats are so bold that when we ran and left our table, they came back for the 3rd time and actually got on the table. Perhaps the locals are used to this nonsense but I want to remind restaurateurs that NYC is also a tourist destination. Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of NY but actually visiting is a whole different story. Here is an idea, keep it cleaner. NY reminds me of Mumbai back in the days: DIRTY. They understood that lots of tourists come to visit so they did something about it. PLEASE CLEAN UP NEW YORK!
I went to have dinner. They made our party wait for 45 minutes. Everyone who came after us was seated. The host finally came over and told us a table was ready. They took our temperatures and we scanned our phones for contact tracing protocol. Then a party of about 7 young women came as we were being lead inside and the host told us to wait one more minute. That party was seated and the host came out with four barely filled cups of wine and told us that we would have to wait because they wanted to seat the party of women. The party of women were white and my party was black. This restaurant has a host who has certain prejudices towards African-Americans. I have never been so disrespected in my life. I implore you, if you are African-American dont spend your money here.
Great experience!Fried Oysters and Gumbo as starters, Jambalaya and BBQ Shrimp as main, bread pudding for dessert. All dishes were perfectly cooked.Staff was super friendly, so was the owner!Very nice interior design and a fantastic atmosphere. We‘ll definitely return!
Brussel sprouts were so good especially dipped in the green hot sauce. Try the green hot sauce it’s wow. Mac and cheese was very good. I know this sounds weird but try a bite of Mac and cheese with the rice of the jimbayla and also wow. Obviously at an nola inspired restaurant you are getting the jimbayla
Cool, and casual ambiance. I met some friends for drinks and dinner and we sat at the bar. The bartender, Claiborne was attentive and made us some off menu cocktails that we enjoyed and toasted. We also ate very well. A few people tried the vegan burger that was tasty, and I opted for the salad. We shared 2 desserts. The music there was worldly with Thievery Corporation. The only thing I would recommend is changing out the stools. I tried a few them, and they were a little wobbly to sit in.
The appetizers and bread pudding were goodThey had nice live Jazz music (a little loud for my taste, but we were still able to talk inside well)Aside from that, the entrees werent great in my opinion and we spent about an hour and a half total waiting for our foodThey said this was abnormal since they were unexpectedly busy on a Tuesday relative to normal, but we had a reservation well in advance and it really felt excessive.

2022-04-16Great food and ambiance with a live band playing from the second floor, and great service. Fantastic happy hour (one of the best I’ve seen!) the pan broiled oysters and Cajun shrimp were outstanding. Great selection of drinks and cocktails. Be sure to check out the speakeasy in the basement - they offer a other selection of specialty cocktails and lively ambiance. Perfect for a date or a nightcap.

2022-03-16This was a very great place to eat and dine in. The outdoor tables were very great to sit and relax in, nice fresh wind and very pretty decorations. The food portion sizing was very good, big enough to share. The fries and chips were crisp, the sauce was well flavored, and everything was delicious. This was very true to New Orleans flavor and food, definitely a place worth visiting. The staff were VERY nice and welcoming and accommodating, making sure that we were well attended to and wasn’t missing anything and afterwards made sure we were all set to go. Would definitely recommend!

2022-05-16Barbie and I stopped here for my best friends birthday. The food and drinks were amazing. Specifically the drinks. Absolutely gorgeous ambiance and decor. Outdoor seating on the NYC streets. The oysters were decent. The fries smacked. I will definitely go again for drinks! 2022-06-03Had a great time here on a rainy Thursday night. The vibe is straight out of New Orleans. They had a band playing on the second floor, and we started with a few Hurricanes (rum drink out of Nola)! We had the mac and cheese, salads, and some vegan jambalaya and meatballs, and everything was fantastic. Service was A+.

2022-03-21Came here for lunch and it was really fun with good food. Especially loved the Signature Gumbo, the charbroiled oysters with cajun butter, and the Brussels Sprouts with chili vinegar, honey glaze, sesame seeds. Only thing I wasnt crazy about was the Grilled Squash Kale Salad (the kale esp. was too tough). They also make a great Perfect Manhattan but I suggest you not have two on an empty stomach (as I did!!).

2021-12-14Service was great. Very accommodating and prompt. The drinks were creative and so tasty that I wanted to try them all. Food are still great after my third visit here. During my last visit on a Sunday afternoon, I was pleasantly surprised that they did brunch. I will be back again with even more people. For my birthday, I was given a list of places to choose from and I chose this place. Glad I did.

2022-05-17The food was absolutely fantastic. I had the jambalaya and my friend had the gumbo. Both tasted so good and felt very authentic. The ambiance is beautiful. There was a live band on the second floor which looks down on to the first floor. It definitely gives you the New Orleans vibe.

2022-04-09I was really really looking forward to having brunch at this beautiful location and I did a lovely writeup for you on social media, BUT in all honesty the coffee and food were ice cold and the waitress was very cute but could hardly speak English. She was very difficult to hear or understand when ordering or asking for something. The jazz trio upstairs was great!!

2022-04-21This place is super pretty and has all the vibes, music was dope, great drinks, and the secret basement area is perf for date night. Area for improvement would be the food. Felt like the jambalaya was dry dry. Gumbo lacked flavor. Mac n cheese could be creamier/cheesier.
