Do you enjoy the smell of piss in the air, dirt and filth everywhere, the rails looking like they are flooded with sewage water and garbage? Wel this is the perfect subway station for you! However there are some upsides to the station. There is a lot of entertainment every so often. It definitely should be kept up cleaner though considering it is basically the empire state station
Love this station. Similar to the stations on 2nd for the Q line. This station has its unique character with beautiful mosaics over head. So clean and can be a bit sterile. The platform is deep down and the escalator up (or down) creates interesting views... vanishing point..Upon exiting the station and turning to the right, one is greeted by the Vessel. If you are visiting the Hudson Yards/The Vessel, I would recommend taking the 7 (purple line) to 34th Station Hudson Yards (its the end of the 7 line)Its a great start to a trip to the Vessel and Hudson Yards mall.
Always packed but quite a complete service of subway lines. B, D, F, M, N, W, Q, R and way to PATH, Madison Square Garden and Penn Station. That’s why it crowded.I have seen so many great artists and performers as well here, so your journey can be entertaining as well. There’s Burger King underneath, some kiosks for papers, magazines, snacks and drinks.Lift and ramps are also available.Police and officers look abundant.
Overall it is a clean station, all trains that go to Coney Island stop here, and you have access to the Bronx, Queens, East side of Manhattan and Brooklyn.Q train: By far the best train to catch their because it runs express, its clean and fast.N train: Also a great and clean train to catch which is also fast amd reliable.D train: Its express and is clean and reliable.M train: I think the M is tied up with the D train for 3rd best train because you can always rely on it.B train: It would be great if it went all the way to the Bronx during off peak hours and didnt take so long to come.W train: Ever since it came back, it has done a great job replacing Q service to Queens and has a nice upgrade in car fleet too.R train: It is old, slow and takes a while to come but the only plus is that it is reliable at times. Also it doesnt run express anywhere which is sad.F train: By far THE WORST train to catch here. It comes every 10 to 15 minutes and 10 to 7 minutes during rush hour. Mostly it is always having a problem and is slow. This is why I rated Herald Square a 4 star and not a 5 star.
Its crowded as usual but I love it.... You gotta be a New Yorker to appreciate Herald Square. There are so many things to see and do on 34th Street. You can definitely go shopping for anything - you name it they got it. The newest attraction is Krispy Kreme donuts. The line was so long it was ridiculous but people stood in that line for them donuts.
Way-finding is very poor, especially in peak hour crowds. It can be difficult to decide (for a first-timer) which platform your train would arrive. Luckily, I found my platform.Just as every other underground NYC subway station, it can be terribly hot in here, especially on humid days.
Love this station. Similar to the stations on the 2nd of the Q line. This station has a unique character with beautiful mosaics on the head. Very clean and can be somewhat sterile. The platform is in its depths, and the elevator up (or down) creates interesting views ... the vanishing point ...When exiting the terminal and heading to the right, the person is greeted by the ship.If you are visiting Hudson Yards / The Vessel, I recommend taking 7 (purple line) to 34th Hudson Yards (its the end of Line 7)Its a great start to a trip to the Vessel and Hudson Yards Mall.
Small park across from Macys. public toilets which are well maintained. Are currently being renovated. But should be open again in two weeks. Good seating in the summer. Very shady with some trees. Kiosk in the entrance. Subway 34th Street Herald Square three minutes away.

2022-02-13A huge station, and for NYC subway standards, I would have to say, it pretty clean and well maintained. Occasionally Ive been entering the subway and there have been solicitors calling out for support, asking for money/change etc. And its made me feel a bit unsafe, but thats the subway. Its a relatively busy location. There have been amazing shows there, musicians, singers, dancers, etc.

2022-02-07¡Accessible Entrance!Wow! Apparent Putrid Odor on the morning of Sunday, 2022.02.06 but is otherwise clean and well maintained. The highlight of this station ls the good energy ergyns emanating from the MTA workers. Downright jovial.A more typical cast of characters seem to reside here but generally stays to themselves.TIP: The MTA is handing out masks free of chargeTIP: Watch if you are trying to jump the turnstiles as police seem to be stopping folks. Just ask and most likely they will let you through.A

2021-06-10A great way to travel to JFK.Take the subway from Penn Station to JFK. It’s $2.75 for a 34’ ride to Sutphin Blvd on the E line, where you transfer to Airtrain for $7.75 to reach all JFK terminals.Follow signs towards Jamaica center. You are going uptown. (some signs will only say uptown or downtown). You will get off on the station after Jamaica center, called Sutphin Blvd. From Penn Station you can also take the A subway line for $2.75, but it takes longer. Or use the LIRR, which is faster, but costs three times as much.Google maps incorrectly states that you need to take an Uber to get to terminal 7. That’s wrong. The airtrain stops at Terminal 7.You will need a Metrocard to use the Airtrain. The few is $1. You can load money and pay with debit and credit cards. The metrocard will also enable you to pay the $2.75 for the subway.

2021-05-05On Wednesday about 11am. Its not crowded. Stations not a lot of people. Its clean, has some homeless, dont have any smells, platforms not crowded too. I waited for the M train so I saw F, B, D including M not crowded in this time. Everyone still on their mask. Hope Covid-19 will go away soon.

2020-02-16With this station near Macys, the Empire State Bldg, Madison Square Garden and Penn Station, just about every New Yorker who takes the trains comes here every so often. There is a small elevator on 33rd st away from the main station entrance on 34th. Some corridors close at 10 pm. Serves path trains and nyc subways.

2020-02-01Large, well maintained and a busy subway in the heart of Manhattan. Variety of stores present and artist performing at the station most of the time. Hats off to the security personals present at the station for the protection of the passengers. Although the normal swipe cards are a bit annoying something, smart cards work here.

2017-08-28Im sorry to say but this station is dirty, smelly, hot, not air-conditioned. Americans IMO should invest some money in such everyday things, rather than weapons.
