Krazy, crazy, crazy....too many darn people most of whom dont understand the concept of staying/walking to/on the right hand side of the street. If it were only the googled-eyed tourists it might make sense but its the New Yorkers themselves both the scammers & hustlers along with the seen-it-all-before jaded residents. But its quintessential New York in all is unwashed Elmo and creepy Batman pseudoreality. Dive in, get wet, and take a sloppy bite of the Big Apple...just remember to look up from your phone that is krazy glued to your hand (nail polish remover later) and keep one hand on the pocket were your money isnt to throw off the pick pockets and ENJOY.
The AMC flagship cinemaplex here in the famed Times Square is starting to get old. The carpet and interior are holding up but perhaps could use an update. Still a good movie experience. The hot concessions you probably want to stay away. I got myself some popcorn, nachos, and soft pretzel nuggets and it was far below anything youd get in a 7eleven. And i do mean way below. Its like the quality at 3am at 7eleven. Nachos are sealed so that was better than the popcorn popped right in front of me. Stick to candy and soda or eat prior.
Id like the variety that is there the different options there is I like the different selections of food and overall I think being around there securities good theres always lots of police usually if theres problems that usually able to control it within a reasonable amount of time if youre a parent thats why I say that
Good food and solid service make this Hells Kitchen joint a must try. The menu isnt overwhelming so it shouldnt take long to find something to stick in your pie hole. We had the cheesy grits w/shrimp and the mushroom omelette with fries. Everything was good and fresh. There are some crazy frozen drink cocktails for those who imbibe adult beverages, and even more ridiculous HUGE milkshakes for those who dont, so be in the lookout for that when you visit.
I made a mistake and gave the 42nd Street my ratings for the 34th Street location This review is for the 34th Street location Im giving that location three stars because of what I said below I love AMC movie theaters but Im only giving it a three star rating for the experience simply because on the upper level the concession stand was closed so we had to go back downstairs to the concession stand and the same thing for the bathroom too the upper level was closed so again I had to go back downstairs for the bathroom running up and down steps via escalator which is an inconvenience....**** But other than that the experience was cool....**** But for the 42nd Street location Im giving them a 5-star ratings that experience there is always way better....
This location was always really nice! There are multiple lines to get tickets so waiting time is kept minimal. A line was added at the drink dispenser so that we are served our drinks. Keeping everyone safer by a few steps is always great! Its a great location for any kind of dates since the city is gorgeous at any time of the day, the trains and busses are right down the street and New Jersey is only about 15min-20min away!First movie we saw this year was the Demon Slayer Mugen Train and it was amazing!
AMC movie theater needs their seats to be upgraded. They look very dirty, old and not very comfortable. There was only one person helping with purchasing of tickets but you can purchase on your own. Being a premier stubs member has its benefits...one would think. They had a separate line for premier members to purchase food and the regular line. They only had two people taking orders and doing all the serving on their own. They kept calling people from the the regular line while the premier members waited. It was poorly staffed and there were a lot of people there for the morning shows. I got popcorn that was burnt and didnt taste good. Luckily I didnt pay for it as it was my birthday gift. I thought I was going to miss my movie waiting so long and I got there 30 min before my movie. When I got to my seat I saw this guy in the row above me laying across all the seats. The theater wasnt crowded but thats not his home and his foot was on the seats. I guess there isnt enough staff to do a check on all the theaters before or during the movie to see if there is any kind of disturbance. I havent been to this theater much because of the decline of appearance, staff and some of the patrons attending.
If youre a tourist its a nice place. If you are not, it sucks. If you are claustrophobic, it sucks. People dont know how to walk or move out the way. However, it is really nice during the summer nights. Find a spot to sit and enjoy the scene as it goes. Highly recommend the summer nights.
Ive been coming here for about 5 years. The place is very clean. typically very busy at the consession stand so come early if thats your goal. Bringing in food is discouraged but I did anyway without an issue. Tickets are easy to get here as most people use the electronic option instead. I value the array of films and the ease of viewing international films here.
Everything is great as far as service and food! The wait is long though. More tourist-y and not for the every day New Yorker. That being said, if you dont mind lines at Disneyland just to say you did the thing go for it! Personally. The pizza is perfect!... but not worth standing on line for 1hr +... there are plenty of delectable places nearby if you just want that perfect New York slice .
The movie theater is great. Very clean and there are always employees working hard to reduce wait time on line. The theatre offers $5 Tuesday, which is amazing. The seats are lack luster, sincthe handle bars dont go back the whole way and isnt flush against the seats.
I just discovered this place after being invited by a relative to a show here. Its truly unique and the space is pretty cool. The theaters are nice and clean. Theyre not too big and feel very intimate, as if I were a part of the play. I will definitely come back in the future.
Service is always slow. And considering its prime location in times square it is definitely dated. I hope they upgrade the seats and theatres soon. Food is crazy expensive but I guess thats not new. I try to only go to sessions before midday to beat the crowds and get the discount for it to be worth it. Will attend a movie there again but its not my favorite theater in nyc.
The common area was clean and well-maintained, with easy access via escalator. The theater was also clean with power reclining seats, good sound, and lots of room. The food was mediocre, as you might expect from a movie theater. The gentlemen serving the food acted as if he didnt want to cook a burger and fries for me, but agreed after I insisted. I had to return 20 minutes after I ordered it to pick it up. Had I not had received push back regarding the food, I probably would have given 5 stars, even though the food was not that great.
Okay food. I love there nachos and the popcorn was good and buttery. The staff was very calm and friendly made me feel welcome very patient. They do sell expensive so bring lots of money because u will be paying like 15 dollars for a popcorn. They sell candy, have a soda machine, nachos, popcorn, food, and free refills on soda and large popcorn.
I love going to this regal theater. They have the new recliner seats, a 4D theater if you want to splurge and tons of snacks/food options inside the theater as well as outside. Any new movies that come out will definitely be shown here and you can reserve a ticket in advance to secure your spot for some of the big name blockbuster showings!
Very beautiful place, large consists of 3 floors. Pretty much you can see the play from all sides, the few seats in extreme front right and left may miss some actions at the sides because of the stage decoration, also if your in middle the first 4 raws you may miss the top of the stage decoration. We watched wicked and it was amazing experience
Huge. A lot of movies play here. The place is always clean. The staff can be hit or miss. But credit to management for keeping the crew diverse. I like places that look like NYC.The escalator game is strong. Expect to be on them a while. Sometimes the down escalator at Dave and Busters doesnt work. Happens often enough to be an issue. All of it is expensive. But the AMC A-List pass is a great deal if you love movies.Fun place. No real issues.
The movie was great, but the actual theater has seen better days. When I arrived with my friends, it appeared that the staff hadnt bithered to clean up from the previous show. There was garbage everywhere. The seats were old and dirty - one even had old gum in it. The conditions made it hard to enjoy the movie since I began worrying about potential creepy-crawlies hitchhiking on my coat or bag. The place needs some major renovations.
As usual, I generally enjoy seeing movies here. But for the past few weeks the elevator has been out and the ticket check line was long. There was only one person checking tickets. On the other hand, the refreshments line for Stubs members was efficient. I still recommend AMC 42nd Street!
Nice facility with multiple floors overlooking Times Square that has a clean and exciting atmosphere with nightlife ambiance and colorful lights. Good assortment of games (though it doesnt seem like many, if any, had been added in the past five years) that are great for all ages - though most patrons appear to be in their upper teens or lower twenties.
The theaters here are very cool and cozy. Recliners and everything. The only downside is that the bars in front of the seats block the lower bottom part of the screen and you have to basically keep moving just to make sure you didnt miss any of the subtitles in foreign language or even some parts of the scenography.
This one block is Amazing! You can Literally spend nearly your entire day here, or no less than half of it. There is the huge movie theater in a movie can cover 2hrs, there are place that have visual walk-through shows, as well as musical shows by way of music artist to over another 2-3hrs, there are shops to visit for at least another 2yrs, there ate eateries to sit in for an hour to 90min of dining, there is dessert by way of Cold Stone, and there are street vendors whose art you can admire/purchase, or sit to get something made in personalize fashion. Plenty people and lights and visuals! Bring money and walking shoes!
This street is filled with a variety of stores entertainment. You wont be bored here as there is much to do and a lot of places to visit. Price wise the stores are in the mid range with some being in the low highs. A downside can be that it can get crowded at times this making hard to move from one point to another, but thats NYC for you. This is a street that definitely does not sleep as it looks awesome on the day time, as well in the night. Overall definitely a spot to take pictures and shop around or sit down and have a drink while admiring the bright lights of the billboards and store signs at night.
Very nice theater but man lots of escalators. I saw a rifftrax viewing here and the theater was very nice. Cushy chairs, easy check-in, but man o man so many escalators to go up and up and up.Do people know that they can walk up and or down on an escalator? This is one of my pet peeves that i find extremely irritating. So as far as the theater goes allow some extra time to reach your floor. Concessions were numerous bathrooms were clean there is a elevator! I found that going down so there is that.
If not for the movie I would not choose this theater. The area is a bit overwhelming and the theater itself is dated & not very clean. Filthy is the word that comes to mind. The seats smelled, the floor was sticky with who knows what so you can only imagine what type of fluids leave the various colored stains everywhere.Would I come back?> Sure...the movie is the draw I guess.
I am not a fan of Time Square (& if you have visited there you all ready know why). i am, however, a big fan of going to cinemas.i have been to both AMC & Regal & i enjoy them both. once you get inside you can decompress.be warned, get there early enough to order food & snacks because, depending on the showtime & what has been released, the line & wait can be a headache.
It was the usual Decent experience. The AMC theater is high above average and has been kept up over the years, excluding a few escalators leading into the Entertainment Center Complex. Premiere reward members line available and mostly efficient. Lots of different activities to consume besides the movies and games at the theatre... More games at Dave and Busters as doubling as a restaurant; among other restaurants there and places of interest. Worth checking out for sure.
Great place to watch movies. Service is more or less ok. Seems a bit like it needs to a be a bit hygienic but it is a movie theater in the middle of times square so ..... great screens and also a great location to see a movie with someone out of town for the whole “awe” of being in times square.
Avoid at all costs.I only attended this location because it was the only AMC theatre to be showing The Favourite for a week and boy do I wish I had just waited another week for a wider release. The lines, the crowds around New Years, the utter madness. There are ~25 auditoriums I believe and the hike up to #24 makes a journey up K2 feel like childs play. Unless youre already in Times Square and absolutely have to see something on its final night - dont go.
The concessions is unorganized. I missed 20 minutes of my movie due to concessions not having everything under control. Make sure your floor supervisors are putting the right people in the right spots. Is lack of staff an issue? It shouldnt be with the premium you charge on the food at concessions. Hire more people that can do the job fast and efficient.
So many different things constantly going on,depending what you are looking to get into theres always something for you to do.One of the true big apple representations along with so many more.No matter if you live in New York or just visiting you will always enjoy it.
Always a pleasure hitting this movie theater! Good movie selection, super central (to the center of planet Earth), and lots of tasty treats. My office is on 26th and Broadway, so...when the stars align just right, and I get a couple of cancelations, and Ive got my running shoes handy, I can fly up in the afternoon to catch a flick and feel like I got to take a real journey up and outta the grind!!!
This is a giant AMC. I think it has 25 theaters. Went here for a night screening on a Monday--was pretty much empty. I havent tried their concessions but assume theyre comparable to other AMCs. Personally, Id go to a different location if I were you, but if you have to come its not too bad. Theyve made an effort to standardize the experience of each theater and I think it shows.
I visited AMC25 to see Bad Boys for Life. I was disappointed with the setup of the facility. First, it seems like youre going through a maze just to see a movie. Once inside the theater, it was filthy and smelled. I was surprised since it is in an extremely popular tourist area. Overall, I will not be seeing any more movies here.
I went to see creed 2 but I couldnt help but notice how filthy the place was. Now the floors wouldnt really matter to a person but it takes away from the comfort of a person. The popcorn was cold. I asked for a different popcorn more freshly popped and the young man said all the popcorn is like that. So I waste money on cold popcorn. The drinks was good and for a good price. The nachos kind of bad I guess bc of the cold cheese dip and which before I order I asked would the dip be heated and I was told it would be. I wouldnt come back here and I wouldnt suggest anyone else come here.
Great viewing experience! Not only are the accommodations first class but the inclusion of non mainstream films was what separates this theater from the rest. Love Bollywood, or high octane Hong Kong cinema? Better yet do you yearn for the more exotic South Korean slice of life films? Then this is the place for you!
On 2 separate occasions the Dolby theater has had technical difficulties with audio causing everyone to file out angrily to pick up free movie pass tickets as a make up for horrible experience. Security has improved and so has the quality of staff. The pick up online order process has to be worked on because they mess up a lot of peoples orders.
I dont remember being here. Perhaps I was drinking, and wandered there in an alcohol fog.Who knows these things.T.S. is crowded, MOSTLY. Its chain restaurants and touristsThe Movie theaters are the best in the city, and small restaurants full of city ambience are sprinkled down side streets and in nooks.Just be brave and look.
We have A-list pass and we are 30 mins late for movie because we cant connect to internet. No WiFi and the reception around the building bad. We went to guest service and still took about 15 mins for paper ticket. She passed the ticket to us with attitude. Got to my seat and the cushion is loosen and flat. I cant see it clear but I guess its broken.
Lots of theatres. Too many levels and somewhat grubby. Attendant where we purchased tickets ignored our question about movie times while chatting with her friends then acted like it was a big imposition to answer us. She told us it was too late to purchase tickets for a show that just started when we did just that, pretty clueless.
Loved seeing Bohemian Rhapsody here. A beautiful old building with more than 20 theatres. Great views of city as you travel up escalator. Gives you a real NYC/Times Square experience at the movie theatre.Go! If youre from out of town, your movie and NYC experience will be enhanced by the location.
Crowded and smelly but if youre a tourist and not a local like me you might be spending some time here just looking at the lights and how crazy the city is. Me as a local usually come to this place because there is a good cinema and dave and busters there plus shake shak 😋. If youre a tourist and reading this than this is the must place to see if youre in new york, for all you locals, well.... i wouldnt be in times square for so much time... even if youre a tourist i highly recommend not spending too much time in this place because new York has alot more to offer!
I love this place it can accommodate a big group or a big crowd this is another one of my favorite movie theaters I always come too if they dont have what I want to see in the other theater or theyre sold out over there and its in times square the most visited most attractive sitle in the world everybody on the world comes here doesnt matter what country youll end finding a reason to come here
This complex houses Applebees, Dave & Busters - a bar with video games and food, and a large AMC Theater over several floors. The space is safe and relatively clean given how many people walk through in a single day. Great destination when the weather leaves you needing to find an indoor space.
Ive been here for about 19 years. And over the years it has gotten more packed, with more oblivious and crazy people walking around, agressive drivers, and jacked up prices for fast food to a point it might be cheaper in any restaurant for a big family. If you really want to vist from out of the state or country, watch where youre going. Also watch your kids around the coustumed people they will try to rob you out of some cash.
Made me remember why I havent watched a movie at any of the 42nd street theaters since I was a teen. Its over priced, over rated and more importantly to me, the seats are disgusting. Sure, you can find some clean ones in between but being that you have to select your seats before entering you may just find yourself stuck with a very dirty, smelly, disgusting looking seat, which can make for a pretty wack movie experience. Who wants to watch a whole 2 hour movie in a seat theyre afraid to turn or get comfy in because of the stains and smells???.... I say watch your movie elsewhere, 42nd St. Is not the place!
THIS PLACE IS DA BOMB!!! LUV ME SOME MOVIES THAT PLAY THERE.THE ELEVATOR BRINGS ME DOWN TO STREET LEVEL WHEN THE ESCALATOR NO LONGER WORKS,AFTER MIDNIGHT.THE STAFF IS AWESOME AND HELPFUL TO THE MAX.I WOULD LIKE TO BRING MY GRANDSON THERE TO SEE THE GRINCH MOVIE.I SAW A SUBTITLED MOVIE CALLED TAG ALONG DEVIL FISH.IT WAS SCARY GOOD!
Well well tourist! Listen to this! Be prepared to bring your camera/cellphone ready to take pictures to the big screens and people making shows in the street. A tipical night at Times Square is very crowded but thats the magic of times square, isnt it? There are tons of restaurants to eat, depending on your budget, I would suggest to eat in at the small and cozy restaurant but there are some places really expensive (you pay for what you eat). If you take the train uptown a few blocks to the northwest(Train A,C,1,B,D) or northeast (Q,4,5,6) you might find the same food categories for less price. Its up to you.
Amc will always beat Regal. Being an A list stubs member I love coming to watch movies all the time and this AMC on 42st has one of the best Imax theatres and believe it or not it doesnt get as crowded as you would think for time square. Food service is trash for last showings but its expected because its last showing but still.
AMC 25 movie place is well worth going enjoy the movie and the movie staff was very helpful to me on what I can find out what movie is playing which is available and which one is sold out one movie is sold out cant get it but others were available to see give the stuff thumbs up for this love I recommend going there five stars
Totally not representative of what any place or attraction in the heart of New York City should be.Seats in theater are out dated, dirty, and reminiscent of a long gone $5 movie theater in Brooklyn named the commardore. The owners really need to revamp.I will be go across the street to the Regal theaters from now on. Horrible!!
They have good option for food but the guy got mad when I let him know that a fly was on the 3 cheese pizza he still went on to sell the pizza I decided to go with the Phillie since it was made fresh with no flies it was amazing the only reason Im giving a 2star rating is because of the flies if not for that this would easily be a 4 star 🌟 restaurant
Between AMC 25, theater, which has great seating. Offer now hot food, in addition to traditional movie theater fare.To having a Dave & Busters (an adult Video Arcade offering(having a full open bar, must be 21 to dink & gave I.D.)) top not classic video Games, and many advanced vr Games, & Applebees(great selection of food & drink). All within the same building. It offers a wide selection of entertainment options, for adults, parents, kids, and those adults who are big kids at heart ;-)
This area is occupied by alot of panhandlers...ppl dressed up in character outfits who put they hands on little children and beg the parents for pictures..the hotels is nice around here but of course you got ppl who lay on the streets nearby and sleep on the cold pavement
Home to popular Broadway plays such as Aladdin,Harry Potter and the Cursed child as well as two world-famous movie theaters AMC Empire 25 and Regal EWalk &RPX.This historical street in NYC also features Dave&Busters where you can play arcade games ,some in which you can win tickets to redeem at the winners circle store to get prizes,Madam Tussauds Wax Museum which houses many to hundreds to thousands of wax sculpture mannequins from people in history to famous celebrities and musicians. So next time your in town be sure to stop by Times Square-42nd St .
I attend the AMC Theatres quite often, whenever there is a new movie I am given two tickets to the preview. On the 15th of this month I went to 42nd Street AMC to view Overcomer a beautiful movie I am inviting everyone to see this movie you will be blessed. Then on the 21st I went to Magic Johnson (AMC)in Harlem ,Fredrick Douglas Blvd. to see (get this )Angel has Fallen WOW!!!😜guys this is a must see,for those of you who love Action Movie ,This is It..
Quick stop in, Not crowded, annoyed with card person with wuestions, reloading card and attitude but good games of PacMan & Tomb Raiders except right hand 🔫 malfunction. Escalators not working again. Its always out & this takes away the enjoyment. They should replace it.
Ok, just to clarify here: according to Google, the 42nd Street Entertainment Center is pretty much everything on 42nd street between 7th and 8 Avenue. It contains 2 multi screen movie theaters, a Dave and Busters, at least two other Bar/Restaurants, a Wax Museum, Ripleys believe or not and 2 Broadway live theaters shows. There USED to be live music too, but B.B. Kings went out of business.Oh and at least one hotel. Not sure how useful a general review of all that would be.For more detailed reviews just check for the specific venue in question.
Always a fun and lively area a couple of blocks away from the hustle and bustle of times square on broadway. This area is the heart of movie cineplex, arcade game central, and the location of madame Toussaud wax museum right next to the Ripleys believe it or not. There are just as many big billboards as there are on the Broadway area but less pedestrian congested. Lots of doin and good places to eat too, like macdonald, five guys, dave and buster, applebees, and dallas bbq.
Its ok but since this McDonalds is in times square capalist place in the world with everything here its extremely busy so you will be waiting along time for your food 20 minutes or more I just ordered 1 shake it took them 17 minutes to give it to me imagine if your ordering a bigger order my advice if your in a hurry dont come to this mcdinalds
This incredibly ugly and misshapen heap of lukewarm entertainment venues was a gigantic mistake. Buried in all of this is the 110 year old Liberty Theater, the remains of the Eltinge and Candler Theaters. The Liberty was turned into an event space and restaurant (supposedly a diner, utterly ridiculous) and is predictably closed, its facade hidden under a Dave and Busters. The Eltinge was designed for a revolutionary New York character, Julian Eltinge, who was a cross-dressing character actor until the 20s. Renamed the Empire it eventually floundered until it was literally raised up and moved down 42nd Street to become the lobby for the depressing AMC flagship cinema chain. The paintings (restored) in the lobby show Eltinge performing his favourite roles. The ancient painted asbestos curtain of the Liberty survived into the 90s. You can see it in photos of the lobby of the Hilton Times Square. The Eltinge and Candler fully faced 42nd Street as the Republic and Times Square Theaters do across the street. The Liberty, Lyric, Apollo, Selwyn and New Amsterdam had thin 25 foot wide lobby corridors which led to their respective theaters which wrapped on 41st and 43rd Streets as the real estate became too expensive on 42nd. The AMC and Dave and Busters are tired and missplaced. Understaffed, with lobbies hovering over the street, their food, cleanliness, visibilty and viability are questionable at best. The Apollo was merged with the Lyric and the Selwyn is now the American Airlines Theatre. The Republic is now the New Victory Theatre, the old one being on the site of the Reuters Building. The Candler is where the McDonalds is and the New Amsterdam was restored in the 90s by the great, deceased Hugh Hardy and Dick Blinder of Beyer, Blinder, Belle Fame. Only John Belle is still with us.
MY GO TO PLACE TO WATCH MAINSTREAM MOVIES.THEY HAVE SEVERAL LEVELS OF THEATERS AND OVER A DOZEN FILMS.OFTEN YOU CAN FIND COOL FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILMS THERE BEFORE I HEAR OF THEM OTHER PLACES.ITS IN THE HEART OF TIMES SQUARE.NEARBY ARE MANY EATERIES.VERY CLOSE TO THE WAX MUSEUM AND THE ODDITORIUM,RIPLEYS BELIEVE IT OR NOT.

2022-08-14If you are planning to visit the cinema, make sure you register and buy tickets after. (after registration, the cinema gives a decent discount on the tickets. Rooms are clean and well maintained. The staff is very friendly. The queue for popcorn and drinks usually is pretty long. So if you enjoy trailers before. The movie starts, get to the cinema at least 20-30 min before showtime.

2021-09-06There is nothing to say other than the fact, it takes me an hour to get there and I still go. There is a theater 10 mins (walking), and so many in between yet I still choose this particular one. Mainly because of that IMAX experience.

2020-02-03Great location. Good staff. Theatre was a bit dirty on the floor. Beverage selection was great and popcorn tasted good. Was hoping the 4dx would have been in 3d but did not realize it wasnt. Info on movies inside was lacking had to look online to see more info. Seats and system worked great. Spacious and comfy.

2022-06-15The city needs a good cleaning from the sticky sidewalks, to the overflowing of garbage cans. Since covid there had been a huge increase in homelessness and people walking around with open mental health issues. You have Covid-19 testing trucks parked in front of business buildings. It used to be fun heading into the city.
