Worth $60 of fun for 2. The employees are in character when they present you to a room. Challenges were fun and exciting. Definitely only a one time thing as the fun is not knowing the answers to the challenges. Did all 3. My favorite was the dragon adventure. The space adventure was the most challenging. The Egypt one was fun but felt shorter than the other 2.
We recently went to 5-Wits with our family (including our two kids, ages 7 and 9). The kids chose the Deep Space adventure because it was recommended as my 7 year old was a little nervous (but she ended up having a blast and has been begging to go back). You can pay ahead of time online, or in person. Our Deep Space adventure could vary from 20-30 minutes (depending on how long you take to do the challenges), so we made sure we were comfortably dressed, and that the kids had used the restrooms beforehand. We brought in what we had with us (jackets, purse, etc), but there are both lockers and restrooms available if needed (I would recommend waiting to do your shopping until after, or leaving anything big in the car).We had to wait for a short bit while the group before us finished, and the screen over the entrance tells you exact wait time plus previous scores (so check it out when you leave as well). Our guide led us to where the adventure starts, and after watching a quick intro, we entered our adventure room. The experience is pretty cool - you really feel like you are in a video game or on a movie set. After being teleported, we were in what looked like a cockpit of a spacecraft. It was pretty cool to be left in a room full of buttons and have to figure out what to do.There was plenty for everyone to do, and work as a team to get through all of the challenges. My 7 year old, despite her anxiety, had a great time. There were a few moments where the lights go off completely, but she stayed next to me and was fine. There are cameras in all the rooms if you do end up needing help at any point.Fun for the whole family, and definitely something unique to do! I was impressed by the rooms and thought the whole experience was well done.
Was a great & needed time out w/my teenage son & 2 of his friends. Hav been 2xs before when kids were younger but now they r more skilled & better listeners so our overall scores much improved! TG for places like these staying open during COVID! Kids & us adults still need a lil fun time out! Staff followed & adhered to masking, hand sanitizer & social distancing protocols.
Best 11th Birtbday party ever:)!! Thanks so much to our party helper, did a wonderful job, the kids had a blast! The experiences were great! My 4 year old even made it through all of them, even though I would say it definitely depends on the kid! Great staff, we will be back!
Update 9.9.2021 -Special thanks to John Taylor for reaching out and helping us resolve some of our frustrations with our recent experience outlined in the review below. Top notch customer service from 5 Wits!Original Review:Our family of 4 did the Deep Space and Dragos Castle rooms. Both were really enjoyable rooms that lasted just over 30 minutes each. The kids really enjoyed themselves and the puzzles were perfectly suited to their ages (12 & 14). Unfortunately both rooms were held back from greatness by technical failures in the hardware. One of the hand sensors in the final room of Deep Space was stuck on, so those manning that half of the room were frustrated that they were doing everything right, but failing at the game. The final room of Dragos Castle had similar mechanical issues were the gear puzzle on one side of the room was completely non-functional. We mentioned the issue to the staff member helping us out and they said that theyve been waiting for replacement parts. For the price of admission (quite high for a 30 min experience) I really expected more. Particularly charging us full price knowing that the final puzzle was broken is very disappointing. Our family had a good time, but I wouldnt recommend going until they fix the problems with the rooms.
I love this place so so much but the one of staff wasnt helpful i lost something in one of the rooms and asked him to look. He half way looked and he yell at me cause of my mask it was just a little bit under my nose They are way to stricted about the mask policy like it just slipped a little bit and the person working there yelled at me! other than that i love the place ❤️
We had a great time trying to escape from the Drago Castle Adventure ...sadly we didnt quite make it out in time ;). Not too scary for my (almost) 7 year old daughter and 10 year old niece (although the sound and lighting effects did not disappoint). I thought the $29 price tag for each of us was a little steep BUT we did have a wonderful time and would definitely consider purchasing another adventure! However, I am bummed...I didnt realize we could purchase another adventure for 1/2 price while there (it wasnt mentioned to us) or we would have done so :( (maybe the option isnt offered currently due to co-vid)
My 6 grandkids and I did The Tomb at 5 Wits on my birthday. I didnt know what to expect, but any expectations I may have had were all exceeded! 5 Wits is first rate and highly immersive entertainment. This was my first visit to 5 Wits, but will definitely not be my last! I highly recommend this extremely creative venue!!
This was an awesome first time adventure room. I thought it was going to be lame but my girlfriend really wanted to try it. We went with 3 other friends and had a lot of fun. Masks were strictly enforced to ease any worries however we had to touch a lot of things that were a little unintentionally sticky or greasy
It doesnt matter if youre an experienced escape room player or not, this is a great place that is fun to all ages. We did all 3 rooms, and keeping in mind that were a team of experts with more than 20 rooms in our bag, this was one of the best if not the best one we ever did. All puzzles were fun and challenging, the storyline is fun and engaging. I wouldnt actually say this is an escape room because the main goal is to progress the story not actually escape, so lets call it an escape experience. The staff is lovely and nice and made the experience much much better. This is a must go if you enjoy things like that.
While the adventure was entertaining and new, this is outrageously expensive. I understand costs behind, but $93 for 3 people!? I wouldnt say a word, but unfortunately, they only had one locker available. Yes, one locker available/operational for every customer to snatch. I would think with that cost, they could afford a simple, secure storage bin for their customers to utilize. The individuals working there were absolutely amazing though. With those 5wits, use half of those and put thought into a locker. Enjoy your profit though
I have been here twice, but with different groups of people (Both about 7 adults). It was about 8 months between trips, so enough time had passed where I had an idea of what had to be done, but still had to figure out all the puzzles again. The staff was nice. The rooms are fun and I like being about to check how you scored after you finish each room. I recommend it to anyone who likes puzzles and hasnt gone before. And the best bang for your buck is to do all three. It would be cool if they rotated out new rooms (or changed the puzzles in the existing rooms) over time so I could return sooner without it feeling like I know all the answers to the puzzles.
I did this with my daughter and it was fun. you need more then 2 people to really do some of the stuff in the fast amount of time. It is a bit expensive if you ask me but the rooms are very well done and it is like you are really in a tomb or dungeon or spaceship. I would recommend checking this place out but like I said it is still priced a bit high for me and my daughter it was 50 dollars for 26 minutes. not terrible but if you do all 3 you can save a little but still spend alot.
I personally find this place amazing. The challenges are, well, challenging, but you can still solve them with any age group. The first time I went I went with a group, and we were able to go alone. It was really enjoyable. The second time I went was with a smaller group, so I went with strangers. You’ll never know who you’ll get in your group, so it’s always a challenge. Even with going with strangers, it was still very fun. Some of the rooms could be a bit scary for kids, but older kids and tweens will like this.
It was ok. We took our 8 year old and she had a good time. We did all 3 rooms in the same visit and it came to like $113 for 3 of us. Some of the puzzles were half done in a few of the rooms so that took some of the fun out of it but the kid had fun so its whatever I guess.
This place is incredible, and everyone of any age should 100% go. When you do go make sure to get the three token deal. They dont expire and you can go back to use them anytime. Its a much better deal, and I regret not using it.This was my first time going to an escape room and I brought my two nieces 9, and 10. I was assuming that Id watch them solve all the puzzles and that I wouldnt really have to do anything challenging. (I was wrong).Ive only done the Mid-evil one, and the Space one. They said the space was the hardest and I believe it. We failed most of our adventures but we still had a complete blast. I loved the mid evil one and it was more challenging then I expected.I plan to go back and retry to the space challenge, and go to the escape room I didnt visit. My only compliant is that if you successfully complete the missions, then going back through the room is pointless. I am hopeful or assuming that they will change/add challenges every so often to continue to make it interesting for returning customers
We had a group of 5 and chose to do all 3 adventures. The price of only $30 for all three was reasonable and it was a great way to spend 90 minutes. We had people in the group from 8 years of age to over 40 and everyone enjoyed themselves. These rooms were very well themed and entertaining. The staff was friendly and helpful.
If youre experienced with escape rooms, like myself and my friends, youll likely find the puzzles not too difficult but not too easy. 5 Wits are not escape rooms, but interactive walk-through adventures. All of the challenges had clear instructions/direction; some were more difficult than others. I greatly respected their appreciation of story-telling.They also applied a method: if you dont pass challenges, you still get to continue with the story. With the Deep Space adventure, we didnt pass a certain challenge, but still got to the ending. In the last room, we still managed to beat the final challenge and end with the Best ending and a decent score (92).My girlfriend, her two best friends, and I went to 5 Wits. We bought the 3 adventures for $29.99 deal. They had my attention when they said the tokens dont expire; so we could have gone through 1 adventure that day, then months later done the other two. Great deal. Nonetheless, we still did all three that day (Egyptian tomb, Deep Space, and Dragos Castle - Dragon adventure). There was only one technical problem I noticed with the rooms; but it was minute and when I informed the staff, they said theyd address it before the next group went through.Overall, great experience. I recommend highly for young adults, but I can see it being fun for all ages.
I went here with my friends and it was absolutely amazing! The staff was so friendly and funny and the room were beyond amazing. The puzzles were just the right level of difficulty. I would recommend this to anyone, all ages will enjoy. My favorite room was the tomb followed by Drago’s castle.
A decent way to blow 26 bucks ( two rooms )and have a little fun. The staff was very personable, and the area was clean. If this is your first time going I think most people would find it enjoyable. However I doubt that it would be as exciting or challenging the second time around. I suggest if possible that they change the puzzles every once and awhile to keep it fresh. They do offer military.
I think everyone should go to 5wits at least once! This place is amazing and for people who love challenges and puzzles, even more of a blast! The people are very nice and for $30 to do three rooms, you can honestly spend all day there. Its also not an escape room so don’t expect it to be like anything you’ve experienced before! The chips are valid at anytime so you can go and come back or even visit days later. You can also go back again and again because of the numerous possible outcomes and storylines. I only wish they had more locations because I think more people should have the opportunity to experience the fun!!!
We took our Teen Bus Stop Club group to 5 WITS and it was chaotic to say the least but the staff there helped us figure out exactly what to do and how to do it. They made sure we got the best possible price and were extremely kind! Dave even managed to jump out and surprise one of the kids which made us all laugh. It overall was a great experience and the teens loved it! Would definitely suggest the Crossgates location!!
Went here with my boyfriend, never having done escape rooms or an experience or whatever, and we were a little disappointed. We were hoping for more use your head type puzzles, not to be told exactly what to do and hope you can run to the spot they want fast enough. There were interesting effects and stuff, but I really wish it was actually a challenge and not a time killer. It wasnt so bad that I wont go back to use the other tokens that we paid for ahead of time; I was just really expecting more oomph.
It was really fun! The Tomb and Castle ones are great, but can be a little challenging if you dont have more than 2 ppl in your party. The Deep Space one was boring and confusing, and impossible with less than 4 people. However, the staff were really lovely! Definitely would recommend!!
This place is awesome. The adventures feel so real. You can really get into it. The employees are fun to talk to and can help you with any of your questions. It is fun to go as a group. You have to think hard sometimes to complete the puzzles but you will have fun the whole time.
Expensive. We paid about 80 bucks for two adults and a five year old. In my opinion it simply cost too much especially to pay full price for a 5 year old who can barely participate. This location sounds system needs to be improved because we overheard echoes from other rooms. It messed us up a few times. We did the mummy challenge. It was in my opinion on the easy side.
I was actually super impressed by this place. Sort of an escape room, sort of defies explanation. Went with 2 friends, all of us mid-20s and we had a wonderful time. If recommend going w at least 4 people, I think it would make it a bit better. But overall, a great time was had!
I took my son here to try the Deep Space scenario. Neither of us had any room-escape experience - the staff were friendly and welcoming.Sadly, my son got a little too scared and we had to leave before finishing. The staff were kind and didnt make him feel any worse, or more embarrassed. The event itself, at least the part we experienced, was very well-done and quite immersive. We had a lot of fun working together until it got a little too real.
Wonderful place, we did a double date and had so much fun, we had to work as a team to get through all the rooms, it was such a fun date night here. We want to go back soon to do the space adventure, its the only one we hadnt done that night. The staff there were very friendly and interactive, great place over all
OMG! SO MUCH FUN!!!My friend and I were in from out of town and decided to try it out and had a such a great time.Weve never experienced this kind of a game before and it blows any escape room out of the water. We opted for the 3 token option and blew through them like there was no tomorrow.Definitely would recommend this to anyone looking for something different to do or for a change from your regular escape room. Well for sure be checking it out again next time we are in town.
Decided to give it a shot with the girlfriend one afternoon. I wouldnt say its geared particularly just for a younger crowd, but it felt a little kiddish. The challenges for the room we did were initially immersive enough, but not particularly interesting, and got a little stale as they went on. The voice that guides you through the rooms and challenges bordered on the annoying side but was fun and helpful enough for the most part...until it wasnt but oh well (the hints varied in quality and the timing of how often they came would feel overbearing when we didnt need not want her, and too spaced out/not the most helpful when we did need her). There were about six puzzle things to do within the 3 or 4 rooms of the adventure. You can do them all just fine with two people. And then its all just kind of over with some cheesy stuff to tell you you vanquished the foe sort of deal. And then the friendly employees really try to sell you on the reduced price to do the other two adventures. And then thats it. I wouldnt quite put it at a $20/head value, but certainly not a waste. However it felt very far from the its like youre an actor in a movie they pitch to you online/in person. Anyway, it was okay.
We had a birthday party here I honestly don’t feel we received $400.00 worth of entertainment. We had the “Works” package. So pizza and cake was provided plus tee shirts for our guest. Overall costly for 1 adventure. Still a high rating because we as parents didn’t have to do anything which is nice as parties can become overwhelming. 5 Wits kept it simple and smooth. But could add in 2 adventures for the price or send the children home with a free token to come back for another adventure in the future.
We‘ve gone to several escape rooms in different states and were looking for a new one to celebrate my wife’s birthday. She found a very positive review of your place on a fan site. So we decided to drive from Western Massachusetts with our 9 and 15 year-olds, to see for ourselves. We were NOT disappointed! This is the best by far. And a great value. Nice staff, and impressive audio visuals. Especially Deep Space. No spoilers, but I’m a big sci-fi fan and really enjoyed it. We did all three on the same day. Only down side is that 30 min feels a bit rushed. But, as opposed to other ones we’ve gone to, we always felt at the end that we won, that we accomplished our mission! Great immersion! Next on our list is their location in Eastern Mass.
The Good: The effects are very impressive - visuals, sound, rooms. Very well done. The staff were friendly and helpful. The experience is intense, but has plenty of safety mechanisms--cameras, emergency escapes, etc.The Meh: The puzzles were not challenging to identify or complete. This isnt some kind of humble brag, just that the difficulty seems aimed at early teens. This was my first escape room (series of several rooms) and I was disappointed. My brother had done one before elsewhere, and he was disappointed too. Identify the gimmick for each puzzle, no deep thinking required. These are more kinetic puzzles that require running around than cerebral puzzles that require genuine problem solving. A bigger group was helpful for the physically doing the mechanics of the puzzles, but not necessary for discovering what needs to be done.
This place was GREAT. Only went in so my friend could see what it was and we ended up playing out all three stories, and having an incredible night doing it. Definitely recommend this for people excited at the thought of challenging themselves (or kids and parents). Bring a friend or two.Side compliment; thanks for staying late so we could play out the extra game. You guys rock.
Like many of the other positive reviews, its well worth the $60 for all three. This is unlike many escape rooms due to the fact that this one is so much more immersive and interactive. Dont try the space one with only two people, you will break a sweat. The employees are friendly and get into their role of each room.
They tell you that your group can go alone if it’s not busy. This is a lie. They will not open the doors until a full group comes to the door (approximately 6-8 people). On 2 separate occasions, my wife and son and I have stood by the doors for 35-55 minutes, when the door said it will open in 1 minute. The moment more people come to the door, it immediately opens. They will let you have the experience privately, at a cost of an added $10 per person. Because they can charge you extra for this, they will not let you have the experience in a small group, even if there is nobody else there. What a ripoff. Not a place for those with social anxiety to enjoy the challenge (unless they pay extra)
This place is awful, we payed 90 dollars to get paired with a group of 8 other people. It is unfair to the people who have not gone into the rooms. I strongly recommend the people who have not gone yet don’t go to 5 wits due to the people being grouped together. I waited for an hour and there was one minute until we went in to the mystery room. And a group came and took our spot in line. This place is a major disappointment to the families of Albany.
The experience was so much fun for me and my family, that we drove all the way to Foxboro to try the other 2 adventures that are currently not at the Albany location. Needless to say, we had an amazing time there too! Keep doing what youre doing. Well definitely keep coming back!
Wow! Where do I start?!? This place was SO MUCH FUN! We started off doing the Tomb and it was insanely fun then we did the Dragons Castle and it was the freaking bees knees man!!! OMG!!! Cant wait to go back tomorrow and do the Space adventure!! David and Daniel were THE best dudes!
I had my sons birthday here. We had a great time. I did a party deal since we had a large group. It was nice doing the adventures just among our group. We did all three...Tomb, Dragos Castle and Deep Space. Tomb was our favorite followed by Dragos Castle. Deep Space is the most difficult since there is not much direction, so it took us awhile to figure out what to do. I know for sure we succeeded the first two adventures. Deep Space....eh...we didnt do that great but got out.Connor was our host for my sons party. He was great. He was very helpful and a gracious host. He helped take pictures and was very involved and entertaining...I would definitely recommend him as your party host.As far as cost, it is not cheap but it was worth it for my son. Had I had a heads up about Deep Space, probably would have opted out of that one to save some much but I know it wouldnt have been much. We did all 3 adventures as well as had a pizza party with drinks. The price is for a group of 12. They supply everything but the cake. The pizza was from Pizzeria Unos and it was good. Everyone was satisfied. I brought my own dessert in. The party room is decorated nicely. All in all, my group was very satisfied with our 5Wits experience.
There are 3 different puzzle rooms with different themes. The set design is detailed and backed with some decent technology to make the experience more immersive. The first time you go through a puzzle room is exciting and new and worth a 5 star rating. The only reason I gave 4 stars is the lack of change in the puzzle if you do it again. The staff will ask you if you have done the room before and scramble the puzzles a little more to turn up the difficulty level but it is essentially the same. I am not sure how long a site can go without swapping out rooms for new ones before it gets stale. Definitely worth doing each room once. If I had to choose between the three I would say the Tomb is my favorite followed by the Castle and then Space.
One of the most immersive escape-room type adventures I’ve been able to go on. Deep Space is the most well done, but Tomb and Drago’s castle are good as well. I would post pictures, but I want to allow the surprise of the adventures to amaze others. It’s a better deal for the $10 for 3 adventures. The staff are pleasant and willing to answer any questions I had. There’s a secret in Drago’s castle, but the guides will only disclose this information to “the worthy”
Took a group of teens as part of a Teen Retreat and they had a blast. David was our event manager and he could not have been better with the group of rowdy kids! He made the experience that much better, and by the end the kids were calling him Papa David. Thank you so much to the dynamic team at 5-Wits and David for a wonderful set of adventures!
Very disappointed. We are a small non-profit and wanted to bring the kids on a small field trip. We would have approximately 15-20 kids and 2 adults. 5 Wits wouldnt give any type of discount for this size group. (I called 3 times over the course of a week and never got a return call) I finally reached someone and although the recording had been saying group sales was for groups of 10 and over they dont do groups until you reach 20 people, very misleading and disappointing.
This place is a lot of fun for kids and adults. But I wish it was ran a little more efficiently. If they have a party going on or something you just have to stand around the lobby and wait for someone to grab you. Heres an idea establish an order of precedence and implement a text messaging system so people can go shop or eat while waiting for a room to open up.
This a really fun evening out. The reason for star off is some of the rooms the activities buttons dont seem to work. For example the last room in the tomb the light is shinning in the correct location for 2 to 3 minutes before the senor to knowledge registered that the task was completed.
So I went to 5 wits and while the rooms were fun the staff was rude to me. After paying for a room the staff member forgot to hand me a token to get in the room. I noticed that my friends had gotten tokens so I asked for mine and was accused of stealing. The staff member had a tone to her voice and had me open my wallet to look for a token. When she didnt find it she gave me the token and didnt apologize and still looked angry. The room was fun just didnt appreciate being accused of stealing.
My friend and i went there today and it was pretty neat the two staff people that were there were really great and funny and i liked how there were exits just in case you needed to leave for whatever reason and even if you dont really like puzzles its a very fun and enjoyable experience
An excellent escape room expirience!!! Ive done all three of the adventures and enjoyed every single one of them:Dragons Castle is by far the weakest of the adventures, that being said it is still an extremely fun romp through a medievalesque dungeon into a confrontation with a hideous dragon.Tomb is one of my personal favorites placing you into an Egyptian crypt plaqued by a pharoahs curse. This adventure includes some nice touches such as a lowering ceiling and an interesting light puzzle!Deep Space is by far the most technologically impressive of the adventures and is a blast to play through, of all the adventures this was the one that me and my friends had the most trouble accomplishing! In conclusion the puzzles in 5 wits arent the most complex, however that is made up in the visual and narrative aspect of all the adventures. Its the perfect place to bring your kid, Id highly reccomend.
My boyfriend and I had never heard of 5 wits. We stopped in today and absolutely loved it. If your looking for something interractive to do then this is for you. Solve your way threw puzzles and have a lot of fun while doing. Can definitely see this appealing and appropriate for children aswell (great for all ages).
I loved the mummy one in the vase room my friend got so scared when the air blew her, I also went to a party and we did all of them but the last one was the space one and there was an actual malfunction and in the white room we weird told to exit cause the circuses were on the fritz
5 wits is garbage and its a rip-off and they dont inform you of anything in the beginning that you have to pay more money if you want to go with your family by yourselves last time we were there we didnt have to pay extra to just go with the three of us we paid the price of going through three for one. I would recommend going elsewhere

2022-01-28Had fun but the price for what you get is not worth it. Should be a set price and then a small amount for each additional person. The speaker system was a little fuzzy and buttons in game play didnt always work properly. The young ladies who were working when we went did a great job.

2021-11-24This was a great experience for our family of 4! Really good team building and just a fun way to spend some time together.A couple dark rooms and some tense moments that may potentially scare younger children, but it was perfect for my 10 and 12 year old. It was great for adults too!More interactive than an escape room and with more directions. They have 3 different adventure options and I hope they change themes fairly often so we can keep going back.

2021-12-27Such a cool experience! As the worker said, this isnt really an escape room its more of an adventure room is the perfect way to describe it. WAY better than any other Mall escape rooms (and better than most other escape rooms too). Apparently the rooms were designed by Disney Imagineers and that shows with the attention to detail, making the puzzles hard but solvable if you pay attention, and just a visually stunning experience. I highly recommend any 5Wit location but the workers at the Albany one are so kind and helpful that I would make the trek back out there any day.

2022-01-16Just had my son’s birthday party there yesterday, everyone had a blast! Our party host was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. The kids loved it so much they were sad to hear we weren’t doing all 3 adventures. We all want to go back and complete the castle soon!

2022-03-20All 3 adventures were quite a lot of fun and all were possible to complete with 2 people. The setup for Dragons Castle was extremely charming and the Portal, I mean Deep Space one was very engaging.

2022-05-23Absolutely loved this place! We did the dragon adventure and it was so fun we came back to do the outer space one! Cant wait to do it again with the kids.

2022-04-19Excellent experience. Not for those looking for hand-holding. The puzzles and challenges begin straight away. Even engaged the teen boys after realizing they needed to interact with the environment.

2022-02-18I went with my 6 1/2 yr old daughter and they were extremely rude when I was trying to pay the guy told me it would be a 15 min wait but if I left and missed my time by 1 min they would have to reschedule me and I told him I understand. We walked out just to walk over to see what moives were playing but as we left he screamed at , JUST REMEMBER ONE MINUTE!!!!!!It was very unnecessary. The music was very loud throughout the entire adventure and at the end a giant head pops out in a complete dark room and scared my kid have to death!!! They could have given us a pop out warning ⚠️. When we left I asked why they didnt mention anything thing and he said oh we dmt recommend anyone under 7yrs old .....well NO ONE recommended that to me at all and a pop out warning isnt subject to a specific age , any kid depending on thier level of how they deal with things like that is different. Also it was 60$ for just 30mins ......definitely NOT worth the money at all .

2022-05-15First time playing , didn’t know what to expect or the how to’s when it came down to win, lose, or draw. I have to say though we had a blast trying to figuring out each room. At one point we were like, what do we do now? Then we realized a door had opened at the end of a small hall we were in umm? (duh lol) FUN TIME! Will definitely check it out when we are down that way again.

2022-06-26Super fun!!! We did all 3 rooms. Definitely worth the money. Universal Studios level design and quality.
