50 St in other cities:
Old ; its rundown ; needs renovations ; could use a facelift ; not the worst but certainly not the best; maybe it was once pristine ; however its nowhere near clean ; dont want to sound mean but one could get my drift without a rift as everyday its your MTA Money Thrown Away!
N.Y. city residents should be familiar with trains that have been temporarily taken off the tracks for repairs and also which stations are temporarily closed. But, unknowing visitors should be careful during weekends or maybe even possibly weekdays of such important information. For instance, there is absolutely no signage or any indication in front of the 8th Avenue & 50th Street station that it is closed. So any visitor may walk down the unlighted steps to danger. Not safe!!!
Be aware that there isnt an underpass, and many of its entrances/exits have been closed over the years, leaving the southernmost part of the station with most of the access points to the street. Avoid being in the north end of the train if you wish to get out of the subway quickly after getting off the train.
Apparently google Maps @maps.google, always suggests transfer from downtown to uptown, or vice-versa, when going thru this station or airport, lots of tourists get caught. However, there is no underpass or way to access the opposite direction. People walk out, or get off at this station and have to pay and cross the street to take the train in other direction. Not sure how station agent doesnt loose his mind but I told him I would post this. Google maps please change this.
50 Street is situated in Midtown, the station is served by the C train during weekdays and weekends, the E train at all times and the A during disruptions and late nights. This station is actually one of the worst stations in the subway, there are rats and the station and wreaks of odour, the MTA needs to fix this station and replace the gross tiles.
Pleasant enough but also somewhat confusing if you are from out of town, it seems as though the uptown and downtown lines are on different sides of the avenue and you have to leave and go back in to change directions, thus paying an additional subway fare, be careful to take the C for most local stops as the A is express and has very limited stops.
Very upset customer! I pulled in to your lot located steps away from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and was told $ 35 for my SUV. My sister than pulled in behind me in her SUV and I said she was with me. The guy clearly said $ 35 for me and $ 15 for her totaling $ 50. I asked more than once to clarify since it seemed to good even asking so $ 25 per car and he said yes so we agreed to park and forgo our $ 34.95 coupon for the IKON lot located just down the street. When we picked up our cars he changed it to $ 35 for my car and $ 50 for my sister. After an altercation he proceeded to tell me I would have to now wait for my car. I had with me a 6 and 4 year old and it was 15 degrees outside. When he did finally bring a car it was not mine because he wrote down a brown Chevy Sudan and I have an orange 2018 equinox. He again proceeded to make me wait in the cold as he brought out other cars and was just yelling out types of cars. At one point he actually said who has the white lexis maybe I should have said me a jumped in and took off since he had no idea whos car was whos. No one should ever park here and I will be writing this story on any review site I can unless we are reimbursed. It was a trouble operation.(Translated by Google)Very annoyed customer! Unacceptable subway, great difficulty for people with disabilities and a stroller with a child. Intense smell of pebbles, jugs, narcotics and everything else one wants to find. Employees are peaceful when they look at you to open the door for the disabled. Thats why you push the door and let the alarm go off

2022-01-18Its a local stop for the 8th Avenue lines. Being between major stops like Times Square, Columbus Circle, & 7th Avenue makes this station a significant stop in its own right.

2021-05-21Platforms are on two levels, no crossover from downtown to uptown. Worldwide Plaza side only is served by an escalator and elevator.

2019-11-27Really busy no clear signs of whether there was a handicap access location.on the marquee where it says what station it is it should have a clear handicap accessible sign and the voice on the train should have a handicap sign non it too. have to walk 2 flights of stairs to catch the c. Just got off the e and it says the a train stops here. No benches to sit. Has the Alice in wonderland theme painted pretty cool

2021-06-19You cant cross from uptown to downtown unless you leave the station and re-swipe your card. Who tf designs these stations?

2019-11-27Its like every other train station, its dirty and stuff. But, its easy to find your way. Also, you only take the uptown train at one side, to take the downtown, you have to go out, walk a few mins and swipe your card again. Its better to know which one you want first or take the train to the next stop, come out and find the other one.

2019-05-15No MTA workers are around to fix gummed up MetroCard machines when you need them, typically on the uptown side.On the downtown side there are fewer issues. If you have an out-of-town friend planning to use this station you need to warn them about the two levels for the E and the C. Its absurd how we hang out by the stairs to the downtown E because everyone knows it goes to the same stops as the downtown C well to a point. So naturally people crowd around the top of the stairs to take whichever train arrives first. The audio address system seems to have improved, so 2 stars for that and for the reliable MetroCard machines on the downtown side
