5ive Spice Taco & Banh Mi in other cities:
Came here after seeing the reco from a YouTuberGot the pho and Vietnamese tacos. Tacos were good but the pho was the real standout.Lots of layering of flavors In the broth, easily one of the best Ive had. If I were to revisit I might get just the beef rib as that was the standout by far in the meats.
Randomly encountered this spot when looking up food spots in the area and was so happy we came! Went on a Saturday evening and it was pretty crowded but we got sat pretty quickly. Service was quick and the food was delicious! With 3 of us, we got fish tacos, classic banhmi, bun bo hue and pho. The soup bowls were definitely bigger than what we expected but no complaints with that! We left the restaurant happy and full.
I wanted to try the Braised Short Rib pho so bad each time my friend posted on his ig story and finally checked out this place. Its immaculate. We got summer roll, wings, 5ive spice pho, braised short rib pho, summer refresher cocktail and frose punch. Everything was on point. The portion was terrific and the soup taste made me want to set my next travel destination to vietnam.
Great quality food with decent portion sizes. I got the short rib pho, spring rolls, and rooster wings. The pho soup had a lot of depth to it. You could taste the aromatics and the soup wasnt oversalted. It was very well balanced. The short rib was massive. It filled me up quick. The rooster wings were also excellent. Light, crispy skin. Not oily at all. Very moist and fresh on the inside. Our server was Alex. Very nice guy and a good sense of humor. Attentive to the table as well!
I went to this place based on these reviews! Staying locally, and had walked past earlier in the day. Most reviews were quite good, so I headed out.Their table water is infused with mint, which was yummy! The staff couldn’t have been friendlier, and the place was full except for my table!I ordered spring rolls and the 5-spice Pho , and it came out in no time. Lots of meat and lots of noodles in the Pho. The spring rolls were so delicious, but I was absolutely full in no time, and took the rest home, it’ll do for two meals tomorrow! Not expensive for the amount of food, the place was really clean, they wiped down the tables between each client, good recommendation from this site! And the Buddha beer was delicious!
Absolutely satisfied! Just amazing pho and the whole beef rib was really the cherry on top. Traditional with a modern twist!Hearty flavorful and traditional are some of the words I can think of and it doesnt stop there, theres a distinct umami flavor from the fish sauce and very satisfying deep beefy flavor, that simmered for hours flavor. Traditional in profile but also new, refreshing, and different. The massive beef rib was falling off the bone. Just a dapple of the mildly spicy pineapple sauce, just enough tang and spice to refresh the pallette every mouthful. You really dont want to share this! Goes incredibly well with the pho, the sprouts, basil, a bit of lime, and the pho itself. This combo exceeded expectations. Every flavor and texture had its place and the modern touches, the pineapple sauce, really made the flavors pop.The chicken wings appetizer were equally savory. Crispy with a hint of sweetness from the sauce and a splash of lime. Not at all greasy. Great appetizer or as a side dish.Good service even though it was pretty busy on memorial evening. Seated quickly. Food came quickly.Lots of new and modern take on pho nowadays but were mostly disappointing. But 5ive Spice has got it right. And pho is definitely the center stage on the menu.
This is one of the best bowls of Pho that I have ever had. The broth has deep, rich flavors of beef and bone. The short rib in the 5ive Special is LITERALLY the softest, most succulent, short rib I have ever eaten. If you love Vietnamese food, Do not pass this one up!!
My bf and I had an amazing date night here. we dined outdoors in their heated, covered setup. there were flowers and string lights sprinkled throughout for the cutest date night vibes! not only was the atmosphere great, the food was tasty as well and the portions were HUGE!- summer rolls ($8) i love goi cuon because theyre fresh, filling, and delicious! these were exactly that. the size of each roll was GIGANTIC! i loved the mint leaf (really added to the freshness) and my bf loved the peanut sauce (it was on the sweeter side)- rooster wings ($8) these reminded me a lot of thai chicken wings! the fish sauce taste was pretty strong on this, but went really well with the garlic chilli sauce on top! each bite was a crispy and juicy explosion of 4 S-es (sticky, savory, sweet, and spicy). yumyum!- elote ($6) after getting my bf hooked on elotes, hes been wanting to order them anytime he finds it on a menu... even if were at a vietnamese restaurant! these were super creamy - definitely heavier on the mayo and cheese and lighter on the spice. the char brought out a smokey sweetness in the corn while maintaining a crunchy texture!- classic vietnamese banh mi ($10) the marrow pate was super interesting here! sometimes the flavor was more livery, sometimes it was more fatty. we asked for extra spicy and got loads of jalapeno bits here, which kicked this sandwich up a notch!- 5ive special pho ($17) this bowl was HUGE and got us so so PHO-ll! they really did not skimp on the meat at all here - we got so many beef balls, pieces of brisket, cuts of short ribs, and slices of eye round... protein explosion!!! the broth was heavier on anise and spice than usual, also giving this bowl a good kick!
Yummy delicious Vietnamese food done right! They don’t take reservations so be sure to get there early or have a backup plan. The exciting menu offers a variety of choices from traditional phở, bánh mì, to various rice and vermicelli dishes. The short rib tacos (juicy, tender, and flavorful) were delicious and the bò lúc lắc was supreme (tender meat, beautifully marinaded and cooked to perfection)! Highly recommended!
The restaurant has a very spacious indoor seating area (still following social distance rules with space and dividers), with a full bar. The tables are separated and spaced out and there is also outdoor seating available if you did not feel comfortable dining inside. The ambience is very chill. The staff all wear face masks and wipe down tables after each customer.During my first visit, there were two very nice and polite employees on duty that night that brought our food, made recommendations and checked on us. One of the girls name was Arielle who had a very distinctive and cool hairstyle imho. I apologize but I did not get the name of the other server to give proper credit here. In addition to food, they have a signature cocktail offering. My choice of drink (not on the updated menu) was the Hard Yakult (consisting of plum soju, yakult, preserved plum and a lychee). I chose this because of the yogurt flavor that I had not had in a while. My friend got the fan favorite Strawberry Spritzer. She enjoyed it very much. Each cocktail has a unique element and flavor profile. For our appetizers, we started with summer rolls (shrimp) and the rooster wings. The rolls came with a very tasty peanut dipping sauce and was a logical choice considering we were eating a Vietnamese restaurant. The wings had a garlic chili dressing that was not too spicy and were very crispy. For our main entree, we shared a Lemongrass pork chop banh mi. While perusing the menu we both agreed that it was one of the more tastier sounding sandwiches. Each one comes topped with pickled carrots, daikon, cilantro and cucumber. It is a good sized sandwich that is good for sharing. It was a lot of food even though it was two of us and we ran out of time during out visit as we wanted to order more. The other polite server made a recommendation if we visit again. She said the fish banh mi was very good and took a mental note. Again, I do not know her name to give proper credit but I was very appreciative of all the great service and delicious food for my initial visit and more importantly my friend also enjoyed her visit.I made a second visit on my own to try other menu items that I did not get to try before. It was a busier evening at the restaurant this time. The other employee Arielle recognized me and welcomed me back. She was mostly busy with outdoor diners but that gesture was very important from a customer standpoint as I am sure she deals with hundreds of people daily. My main server that night was a very stylishly dressed woman name Mariann who was very friendly and helpful. She recommended to me Buddha beer (Chinese style beer with a bottle shaped like Buddha) and since I did not order pho previously, I opted with their 5ive Special (sliced raw angus eye round, sliced Angus brisket, boneless braised short ribs, Vietnamese beef balls). Each bowl consists of the classic soup noodle accompanied with onion, scallion, cilantro, basil, bean sprout, jalapeno and lime all in a 12 hr slow simmered savory broth. It is very apparent why this is their special dish as it is loaded with deliciousness (as described previously).I also remembered that I needed to try the fish sandwich that was recommended to me on the first visit. The swai is beer battered, mayo dressing and an optional black pepper glaze. All I can say is you definitely have to taste it for yourself. Make sure you eat it right away to maximize the taste experience. So good. So fresh. They were fried and very crispy. While I was eating, Mariann and Arielle checked in on me. And there was a gentleman whom name I do not remember that came by as well to my table.I was impressed by my first visit and this second visit blew me away. The pho was quite a treat and that fish sandwich was so darn good. I would highly recommend this place. There are still menu items that I want to try! All the employees here work very diligently and are very polite and courteous. That coupled with the great food will have you coming back as a repeat customer.
Omg such great food. 5ive spice/5stars!!!Short ribs were cooked perfectly, chicken sandwich with a side of sauce... the Taro chips were okay for me, but the little spicy sauce that comes with with I was putting that on everything, it goes wells on the sandwich. Pho was great, many to choose from,, tender meats and everything was just perfect. I dont think you can go wrong with anything on there menu, wanted try a little bit of everything. You have option to sit outside side, but honestly the place is very open.
We ended up here because everything around the area had too long of a wait. We had the spring rolls and vermicelli short rib / chicken lemon grass plates. Everything was delicious! Although I do think there are other more authentic spots for Vietnamese food in the area.
5ive Spices is In a great location in Soho. I had the Pork Banh MI with French fries and the Lucky Buddha Beer which has such an interesting bottle but the beer is good. The prices are reasonable, the beer was about $8 and the sandwich and fries $18 which is average for that area. I enjoyed the experience eating here. Servers were wonderful as well. I am definitely going back there.
Braised beef rib pho.The rib was meaty and fall off the bone. The broth was flavorful. Even the jalapeños were sliced perfectly. It was delicious from beginning to end. Two people were able to share for a medium sized meal. The inside was nicely decorated and loved the washroom door hidden in the bookcase. Will definitely return.
Have been on this kick of enjoying coffee and tea for the sake of taste not because it’s part of some kind morning people afternoon ritual. and guest what? it’s made me appreciate places which sling delightfully tasty caffeinated drinks. was in the SoHo-ish area and had a craving for an iced Vietnamese coffee…and stumbled upon 5ive Spice.5ive Spice is a Vietnamese restaurant. nice modern interior with plenty of seating as well as an outdoor seating shed out front. it’s very relaxed but casually stylish. now, 5ive Spice is a restaurant not a coffee or tea joint so its primary business is serving Vietnamese and Vietnamese-influenced dishes, but don’t sleep on the Vietnamese coffee as it’s good. grabbed an iced one to go to battle the summer. the Expresso coffee was strong with the layers of sweetness from condensed milk. definitely hit the spot as ran errands downtown.the staff was quick and i was in and out in a few minutes. while most people prefer eating their calories versus drinking them, there are are exceptions to this rule like an iced Vietnamese coffee.
Such a uniqlo idea of using banh xeo instead of a taco shell! However, it was so hard to eat - everything kept falling apart and the banh xeo was getting watery. I really loved the interior of the restaurant tho and it’s great for nice instagram pictures[food insta: @strwbrrryboba :)]
I honestly didn’t expect this place to be THIS GOOD and affordable. PLEASE ORDER THE WINGS, you will not be disappointed. All of the meats are so tender and juicy, so you’ll be satisfied whether you get the lemongrass chicken or beef short ribs.Yummmmm - can’t wait to come back for the wings!
The place was not so busy compared to the other restaurants in the street. But boy, what a mistake did they make buy not eating here. The broth of the pho is already very good, but the combination with the bone in short rib makes it pure heaven. The noodles are nothing special; but the pho is all about the broth and rib.
Still new and working out their takeout and customer service issues. I ordered four sandwiches, expecting four sandwiches; I got two sandwiches and two tacos instead. Not too happy about that, but the sandwiches were good. The staff seem a little confused and disorganized at the moment, hopefully they work things out soon.
This new Viet restaurant has such a robust menu. Cocktails are amazing! My personal favorite is the hard yakult! The plum flavor really makes it feel refreshing. As for the food, it reminds me of authentic Viet food. The beer batter fish tacos made with the banh xeo is packed full of protein which is very surprising because most places skimp on the meats. My favorite has to be the 5ive special pho! It has just the tiniest kick of spice and the beef is very tender.
Awesome place, definitely a must try. The menu is new without straying too far from traditional Vietnamese food and it is delicious. Decor inside is extremely pleasing to the eye, almost resembling a speakeasy of sorts and their bathroom is very clean. Their pho and sizzling beef salad is a must they are both perfectly balanced and delicious. My party also had many other dishes such as the bahn mi and the mango salad and there were no complaints, only praises. Lots of options for vegan diners as well. Overall great experience at 5ive Spice definitely would come again.
Was really excited to try it given all the great reviews but unfortunately that was not our experience.Although they have vegetarian options, they were not good to put it lightly. We ordered the vegetable pho, veggie banh mi, summer rolls, and dumplings and enjoyed none of them, we were unable to finish any of the items. The best thing at the table was the mint infused water. The service wasnt great either. The waitress didnt write down our order so we had an extra dish arrive at our table, when each dish arrived they just placed it on the table without stating what it was or verifying that it was ours.Wish wed had a better experience, but I guess its just not for vegetarians.
Awesome place found via @munch_app!! Everything was excellent but the Braised Short Rib Pho is what you come for. It was impressive to see and taste even better than it looks. While the short rib may seem like the star of the show (it is) the broth is uniquely flavorful and would stand alone without the giant rib in it. PLUS its all very affordable for the city, especially the alcohol.
Love the unique Vietnamese and Latin fusion! Their pho is super flavorful but still tastes authentic. The short ribs is ah-ma-zing.The outdoor seating atmosphere is very quiant. Service is fantastic. Just flawless all around! They could also stand to charge a little more given the portion size and quality of the food. Cant wait to come back!
Their broth is absolutely amazing and very comforting ☺, I ordered the lemon grass chicken pho and I almost couldnt finish it. The staff is very friendly and attentive our server was just adorable. I will definitely be back, also they carry one of my favorite lagers Lucky Buddha beer 👌🏽
Really good Vietnamese spot that just opened in Soho! They have cute outdoor seating with heated lamps and the tables inside are spread out so there’s plenty of room between each table. We got the Bun Bo Hue, Rooster Wings, Spring Rolls, Brussels Sprouts and Beer Battered Fish Tacos which were all 👌🏼. Will def come back and try the 5ive special! Highly recommend!
Second times a charm. The first time I came here, I was wowd by their pho - the 5ive Special is MONEY!), but made the mistake of ordering too much food. And eating it all.[1]The second time (a month later) I tried different things and was wowd for a second time. Their bun bo hue, their classic banh mi, their braised short rib tacos - everything was wonderful. This spot is worth a visit, and its wonderful to finally have MORE spots in NYC that make delicious pho.[1] This wasnt a demerit to 5ive Spice, FYI

2022-07-19My first pho and Vietnamese cuisine. I order beef short ribs with the soup. The soup comes with the noodles. It is located at the coolest street where there are different cuisines for competition. Its worth the visit. The ambiance is small and decent.

2022-07-20Cool place for Vietnamese food and tacos. Recommend trying the 5ive special, their signature dish. Its pricier compared to the other dishes, but you get to try five different types of beef. Pair it with pork & shrimp tacos for added variety.Note that the restroom here is hidden behind a cabinet filled with plants.

2022-01-17This is my second time here. I just love the ambience here. So quaint and warm. Not too crowded. I was there at the stroke of 12 pm and was literally the first patron. I was there with my girlfriend and we ordered the 5ive Spice Pho,the Rooster Wings and the Viet Tacos (Ground Pork and Shrimp). The food came quickly with the appetizers being served first. We quickly devoured them and the Pho was fantastic. The meat was tender and literally melts in your mouth. You have to give this place a try. But be advised, come early. It fills up very quickly especially on Sundays.

2022-04-27This place is a little more expensive than regular Vietnamese pho spots, but its totally worth it. My friends and I visited 5ive spice on a Saturday around 2pm and it wasnt super busy. We luckily did not have to wait at all. They have both indoor and outdoor dining, but we opted for the indoor. The decor is so cute and the space wasnt squishy. The bathroom is hidden in the bookshelf; thought that was pretty cool.As for the food:- Braised short rib pho: delicious!! The soup was full of flavor. The meat was so soft and tender and fell right off the bone.- Battered fish tacos: not my favorite, but was still good. I wish everything in the tacos were a little crispier.I definitely recommend anyone to visit 5ive Spice. Must give their pho a shot!

2022-06-13Madly in love with the lemongrass chicken pho. Chicken grilled to perfection, light but flavourful broth. Spring rolls were hearty and the side salad served together balanced the dish perfectly. Will definitely become a regular.

2021-10-02Cute Vietnamese restaurant in soho nyc.Menu indicated which dishes were gluten free so it was easy for me to choose. I just wished they would have made more options (I basically had only 3 and two were shrimps). I got the shrimp salad and rolls with shrimps and my friend got another dish with shrimp too. Food was very tasty and felt fresh . Would go there again.

2022-05-24Good spot for Viet food. The noodles definitely taste more quality than the others in the Chinatown area. I got the rice vermicelli with lemon grass pork chop and was not wowd by it but it was a decent meal still. The ambiance is great - clean, spacious, modern design. Their bathroom entrance is hidden in a wall, very cool!Servers and service were top notch!

2022-06-15One of my consistent fav spots in NYC for pho.I notice from reviews that many others really like the banh mi here as you might guess from the name! But personally I prefer pho to banh mi and sandwiches in general.A nice touch is how they slice the jalapeños that come with each pho dish into thin slices.Their broth seems consistently rich with a light hint of sweetness. The only oddity today was just how the noodles seemed initially really clumpy but it wasn’t a big deal. I had ordered just the standard beef pho as I wasn’t feeling their more exotic combos.Of course this is NYC so it’s best to expect the pricing and parking situation. And note you can save some money if you pay in cash as many places are doing nowadays.
