Over an hour wait for food. Following up with manager and she was rude, acting like she was doing me a favor. Food was mediocre at best. Between the aggravation and poor food, I would not recommend. Overall, poorly managed restaurant that operates well below its potential.
I don’t make reviews on business but this is important because it is expensive and you should know before spending your money. We had to ask for the bread, we never met the a waitress as we were taken by the food runners the whole night. Staff were running throughout the restaurant creating such a TENSE environment.
Spent 30 minutes seated outside, in the wind. 3 visits by the staff to nearby tables, once even to mistakenly serve us dishes we were never given a chance to order. Alas, it never seemed to resonate that we were there to, you know, spend money. The one star is because I at least got to use the bathroom and it was marginally clean.I believe in second chances. Ive had better experiences there.
Hidden gem of hamptonbays .Best menu in town when it comes to varities .Service is superb . Delicious food
The service was outstanding. However the Grilled shrimp tacos were extremely disappointing. The shrimp was not grilled it was a cold shrimp cocktail. I don’t believe we will be going back anytime soon.
The staff at 78 Foster provide a quality of service I didnt think was available anymore.
I can’t say enough incredible things about this restaurant! The owner is so incredibly sweet and friendly and always makes sure her guests are accommodated for! The wait staff is also very friendly! The food is absolutely delicious and fresh. My girlfriend and I have loved all the meals we have had here! The atmosphere is perfect, especially on the weekends with live music and karaoke, it is always a fun and enjoyable time! Will definitely be back many more times in the future and would highly recommend!
My wife and I had dinner here last night. Everything was great, we were seated right away, the service was excellent, the atmosphere terrific, except for one thing. We ordered the steamers among other items and they were full of sand. My wife wanted to send them back, I asked her not to. In hindsight, being a businessman myself, I would’ve want to know about it. My wife was adamant that they’re not supposed to be sandy. That if properly prepared, this doesn’t happen.Other than that, we loved everything else about the place. Still give it 5 stars.
What an awesome family run restaurant. The service and food were amazing. We went on karaoke night and the entertainment was incredible. Leave room for the BANANA FOSTER CHIMICHANGA!!!
Did not hold our reservation so we ultimately opted to sit outside so we could seat faster. We winded up giving up and leaving after 1.5 hours of waiting for our appetizers. We also noticed that people who had sat before did not have food yet either. Even drink service was slow and unreliable. Id give 3 or 4 stars for meal quality as Ive had a decent meal here in the past (in non-busy season) but unfortunately the staff really dropped the ball last night. There are other similarly priced restaurants in the area with MUCH better service so we most likely will stick with those. Servers were nice enough but the entire restaurant has some serious kinks to figure out.
Food was very good. I had fish tacos that were delicious. Service was good except that the food carrier spilled wine on me and the restaurant didnt do anything to make up for it. They could have offered a free drink, dessert or to dry clean my brand new white pants, otherwise would have given them more stars
The service was very friendly! We arrived 30 minutes before opening and theManager opened the door for us and seated us with drinks while we waited for the kitchen to open. We ordered the fish basket with a salad and the 78 burger (I think that’s what it was called) and it all came out in great time. It was the most delicious seafood we have had in such a long time! The fish was crumbed and cooked perfectly, so it flakes when it was cut open. Absolutely to die for. I highly recommend this place. Oh... the music was awesone also ;)
Way overpriced lobster roll. 2 big bread rolls with a teaspoon of coleslaw and lobster across both. Service very poor for a week night. Saw waiter when I ordered and when he brought the check. Don’t bother. Coming here. It’s over hyped and food is mediocre at best. Leaving and still hungry and almost $70!
Nice location, excellent seafood. Upscale interior with a good deck out back. The gumbo was excellent, a must try. We had a very large party (23) and were accommodated nicely with advanced notice.
GREAT place, my wife and I had a 2 1/2 lb. Lobster - KILLER!
Soup was 14$ for an 8oz croc, apparently the large size. Gumbo was too thin, lobster Mac and cheese was good.

Steak sandwich was the best Ive had. We always have lunch and/or dinner when visiting from the Catskills. Atmosphere and people make it a relaxing experience.
I tried the salmon with terayaki glaze, mango , jasmin rice , and asparagus. It was delicious ! The bread they give you as a starter is also very good . The lobster is a bit chewy but other than that everything was great .
They had a live band playing there when I was there.
Travel the little bit to this place by the water for a terrific singer that I enjoy, Lisa Polizzi. Had some very tasty food at reasonable prices in a nice atmosphere. Great place to enjoy during the summer. Will visit again.
Great burger and great wings staff is awesome. Although when I was there there was only one person taking orders and bartending. Great place though !

Terrible food. We ate the worst lobster roll we have had ever, for $30, and the steak on the steak sandwich was burned outside and undercooked inside. Terrible food!

2022-05-29I came up from Florida for a visit, and my boyfriend took me here for a fine dining experience. Our server Matthew was attentive and service was on point. We started with a half dozen Little Neck clams, very fresh and tasty. We also had the Shinnauck Steamed clams in a savory garbanzo bean, carrots, spinach, “soup” that was so delicious! I could have tipped the bowl and drank it all! For our entrees… he had the crab stuffed flounder, which came with a spiral of mashed potatoes which made a beautiful presentation! It was delicious! I had the 1 1/4 lb Maine Lobster, served with baked potatoes and the house vegetables. My lobster was fresh and delicious. The only down side was my baked potato was a little underbaked, and my boyfriend’s dish could have been warmer. I gather this was because it was very busy. All in all, it was a pleasure dining here.

2022-03-26Came for happy hour after reading Dans Papers review. Friendly place ask for Mary, Ashley or Helen. It reminds me of grammer school where the women are at the end of the room (bar) and the men are all together across the way. Everyone raves about the food for good reason. Despite computer issues, the staff kept their focus and kept the food and drinks coming.

2021-08-12We made a reservation for 7PM. When we turned up, the place was packed, so we were directed to the bar, where we grabbed a drink. The menu looked lovely and the views over the bay were great, but 45 minutes later we still hadnt been seated. We were with our 18-month-old daughter so asked the waitress how much longer she thought it would be. She explained that we should be seated soon but that it would probably take a while for the food to come after wed ordered, since the kitchen was backed up. We left at 8PM with empty stomachs and went back to our hotel to order takeout from another place. The drinks at the bar were nice and the staff were lovely, but it was a disappointing experience for the last night of our vacation.

2021-05-12Food was fresh and very well done. I had the tuna and it was great. Restaurant is attached to a fish market so seafood is a big plus here. Service was attentive and cheerful. Pleasant dining room. We found a new spot in Hampton Bays which isnt an easy thing to do!

2018-07-10Awful wait and in spite of waiting 2 hours for the food they charged us another $2.95 for an additional Pepsi refill. This place is going to be out of business at the end of the summer if they keep treating people like this. The wait staff is nice but the manager is lost and since it changed hands, its turned out to be a disaster. I really cant figure out what happened to this place because I used to go here all the time and it was very friendly but since it changed names from the back bar, it just isnt the same and its too bad. I hope they turn the place around because I really dont like authoring negative reviews . But for now go to Phils on the North Shore
