Run far, far away from this building. It slowly sapped away my will to live. No wonder the windows dont open more than a tiny crack.APARTMENTS: Many of them have wonderful views, of course. Given the density of the neighborhood, though, youre just as likely to be looking into someone elses window. The units make the most of the space, but they are cramped for the price. The finishes and materials are fine, which fooled me into thinking that the construction quality was better than it actually is. The appliances are shoddy Haier brand appliances. The fridges make a lot of noise and will wake you up in the middle of the night. The dishwasher in my unit never completed a cycle. After repeated service requests, maintenance never fixed the dishwasher in two years. There is BLACK MOLD in the buildings filthy ventilation system. And BLACK MOLD will grow in the bathroom because there is no ventilation. Living there, I always felt fatigued and unwell. Despite frequent and thorough cleaning, when I moved into my new place, I had to clean off a layer of grime from all of my furniture and belongings. There are also smokers of tobacco, pot, and Ill assume other substances, throughout the building and management doesnt do anything but send out periodic emails reminding people that its against the rules.MAINTENANCE: Maintenance is lousy. The carpets in the hallways are stained. On my floor, hallway lights were out for weeks at a time. The amenities, if you use them, are dirty. For example, the pool tables are clearly never cleaned and have hair and dust embedded in them.THE AMENITIES: The amenities are flashy but impractical for daily use. Theyre undersized for a building of around 900 apartments and have an uneasy, disjointed layout. Management also pulled a switcheroo not long after I moved in and tacked on a hefty additional fee to use them. Then the opening hours are now linked to the gym hours of 5am - 10pm (the hours were reduced from 12am weekdays, 1am weekends)The dry cleaner is awful; they destroy clothes and accept no responsibility for it.STAFF: The doormen are generally very nice, but they are the ONLY good people who work there. Regarding Lily, Resident Manager or something. Shes particularly incompetent and miserable to deal with all around. Truly, her laziness and incompetence are spectacular. I really, really hate moving and had hoped to trade up to a larger unit, hopefully without the toxic ventilation problems. I was ready to grit my teeth and ignore the rest of the buildings shortcomings. She made this impossible. I hope you never meet Lily, she is the Devils own imbecilic spawn. When you move out, they will cheat you on the security deposit, as noted by the other reviewers. I had to repeatedly call to have it returned, which they didnt do until well after the 60 days specified in their own lease terms. To add insult to injury, over $300 was taken out for the notorious floor repairs which Id been assured by the maintenance man upon move-out were not a problem.Bad, bad, bad.
The tallest residential building to date, located at 8 Spruce Street in the Financial District, is a masterpiece by starchitect Frank Gehry. It is about 768 feet tall and has 900 units ranging from 3,000 to 60,000 dollars a month. the outside leaves one mesmerized with its steel facade looking like waves and is different depending on the light and time of day. It offers views of the Brooklyn Bridge and Statue of Liberty. The penthouse is on the 76th floor but the rest of the building offers views as well. There are floor floors of amenities with an indoor/outdoor pool, terrace with grills, movie screening room, tween room, simulated golf and dining room. Gehry is well known for his modern designs at the Guggenheim in Bilbao, Spain, Walt Disney World Hall and Dancing House in Prague.
America’s most mad architect: the behemoth made by Frank Gehry in New York! (It should be said that it is like a steel building with claw marks after being attacked by a behemoth). The flamboyant and high-profile design is completely boasting of his own reputation. And strength.Wikipedia supports it:8 Spruce Street (8 Spruce Street) is a 76-story skyscraper in New York City, USA. It was originally known as the Beekman Building. The current sales project is named New York by Gehry. Designed by Gehry, the building is located at City Hall Square and the Brooklyn Bridge south of 8 Spruce Street in Manhattan.8 Spruce Street is the tallest residential building in the Western Hemisphere, a bit similar to the height and form of the Chicago skyscraper Aqua. The building is owned by Forest City Ratner and designed by Frank Gehry and structural engineer Kreisler Borg Florman. It contains a public elementary school inside. The construction was completed in February 2011. Its structural frame is made of reinforced concrete.
This is a very tall and beautiful building, it is in an area where there is everything, subway, food, bars, police of everything !! You will need nothing and apart from that it has a meaning for me since there I took a picture that I made of when my mother went to Ny and I when I went 23 years later!
I lived there for a few days, sincerely, apart deconstructivism and spectacular view that from a 40th floor is still obvious, I felt great disappointment. The finishes and interior details both in the common areas and in the private rooms that I visited lack poor design. I do not criticize minimalism but the layout of the accommodations, the lighting system, the materials used ... it almost seems that the purpose, wisely achieved, of the design of this structure stops on the sign in the skyline. The organization in the management of the almost 900 apartments is impeccable, but such a structure would have deserved a few more hours of planning dedicated to those who occupy it.

2022-07-18One of my favourite buildings in the world. The twisted metal architecture is gorgeous. 3 of the most iconic buildings in the world can all be seen together from the Brooklyn Bridge, the Woolworth Building, 1 WTC & 8 Spruce. Not to be missed.

2022-07-12They STEAL your deposit! I moved out in December and they continuously delayed returning my deposit despite my bill showing they owed me my FULL deposit back. Then they finally sent me a check in May (6 months after I moved out), as soon as I cashed it, they STOPPED my check so took the money out of my account and my bank charged me a $50 bad check fee!Do NOT move in here if you want your security deposit back. What a scam! I’ve literally sent an email every week for the past 2 months and happy to forward to you and their lack of response as proof if you have any concerns about signing with this place!

2021-09-25I was a 5th year apprentice on this job. This was a great job and a great building. The twisted stainless steel design looked like something out of lord of the rings. Beautiful spacious apartments and surrounded by some great bars.

2016-07-14I lived here for two years and was so happy to move out. The building management is awful, check out the many bad reviews on Yelp. The building itself isnt great. It has some nice features like the covered driveway, but these are outweighed by things like a bad layout inside. For example, the common spaces are all tucked away upstairs because they had to work around the school on the lower floors of the building. Then they spread them across three floors in a badly organized jumble. This is a big building with 900+ apartments, and these common areas are comparatively small. The result is that you have to make a special trip from your apartment to use these spaces, and you get down there only to find that its occupied, you go back to your apartment, and youve just wasted 10 minutes. The construction quality is also poor. The ventilation system in my unit was filthy and there was black mold growing in the bathroom. I always felt sick in my apartment. Walls and floors are uneven, and the finishes are cheap.Aesthetically, this is just my opinion, but the exterior design is unresolved. The famed ripples and folds in the facade are clever, but they dont address the setbacks well. It ends up looking like separate boxes stacked on top of each other, instead of a single unit. The structure of the base completely ignores the rest of the building as well. What a shame, this could have been a beautiful building and a wonderful place to live, but I couldnt leave fast enough. Whenever I see it now, I do my best to pretend its not there.

2018-05-094.4 overall stars and yet some of the most damning reviews of the management and facilities from the people who live here. All those 4 and 5 star ratings and no comment only leads me to believe this buildings high overall rating is a result of star-struck tourists gazing up in wonder at it all [me, too]. In the end, those tenants who have forked out their hard earned dollars and dont feel they have gotten their moneys worth means heed their warnings and pay scant attention to the starchitecture at street level.

2016-07-24(855)HAUL-YOU I recently did a moving labor job there for a Artist. The building is gorgeous. The front desk is extremely nice and they accepted my Certificate of Insurance (COI) with no issues. The dock workers are very helpful and gave me extra dollies. You have to get your rental truck or POD loaded in the time requested. They are very flexible and hassle free. The views from the Condos are Breath Taking! One of the best things about this place is the Dennys right on the Corner. They have a bar there (LOL). We didnt get drinks but we had a nice pancake breakfast before we started our job. I cant wait for the next time I get a call for this building. Enjoyed my day, the staff and residents were super nice!

2016-08-03The views here are AMAZING!! I came to a friends place for a mini get together and had the opportunity to watch the sun set and rise with these magnificent views. The apartment itself was cool and modern but the views! Wow!
