Tyler arrived right on time and was very polite. He took time to explain the service he going to provide as well as common issues with minisplits that homeowners could avoid.He made recommendations for follow-up service but was not overbearing. A. Johnson is well represented by Tyler, I hope he is assigned to any future service calls I might need.

The office staff were very professional and helpful. The plumber was extremely good, he knew what needed to be done and with in an hour he had cracked open sewer pipes and was finishing up the job. Technician was great, helpful and knowledgeable. Great company that I have used many times over the past 20 years. From digging out and replacing a well pump, to switching from oil to gas and installing a new furnace and central air, plumbing, and seasonal maintenance - they do it all.
Matt and Jesse were very polite, professional and fast. I did not expect the repair to be completed as quickly as it was. Can not recommend them enough. I will not hesitate to call A. We received a quote from A Johnson to replace our furnace. Its very old and pretty much all the duct work will also need to be replaced. We knew this would be a pricey job, but when we saw the quote we immediately knew this company is participating in predatory pricing. We were quoted $18,000 to replace our furnace with a high efficiency furnace. A simple google search will tell you this is an outlandish price range. Again, we knew it would be on the high end, but I have never seen a quote over $10,000. We got a quote from another company for the same work, same high efficiency furnace, for $6,700. Im sure theyll try to argue this comment that they provide something that no other company would, but not even a gold plated furnace is worth triple the price. Please stay away from this company and if you do get a quote from them, get multiple quotes.
I have no water pressure in my home not sure if it’s an interior plumbing issue or a well issue. I called A Johnson to find out if they could replace a well pump if needed or if they just do interior plumbing work. She could not definitively answer the question but she could tell me that a tech could if I paid him $70 to come out. I informed her I was not paying a tech to come out to tell me he can not do that type of work. She again offered multiple times to schedule a tech to come out. You should be able to tell a prospective customer what services you can and cannot provide. I’ll find someone else to do the work thank you!
Having a problem with my furnace he was very honest and told me I need a new furnace being my furnace is antique its as old as my house is he made me feel comfortable and when I get my new furnace Im hoping hes the one to install it
Thoroughly replaced the pump system in my well and did a stellar job replacing hardware and wires also needed updating to the house to make this properly work to satisfaction. Way to work together to provide exemplary service. Great job Dennis, Todd and Tony and thank you.

Matt C was very personable and professional. All options were clearly explained and priced. A. Johnson performed the install the AC portion of my system several years ago and will be using them again for service, repair and any chosen upgrades I may want in the future.
The tech showed up on time and was professional about not wanting to track dirt anywhere in the house. They were clear about what they were doing before they started and after the service was completed they advised what the next service should be. Definitely will use them for future services.

I received a call back from my online inquiry in a timely fashion. I had scheduled an appointment but was asked if I’d like to be on stand by as well. I said yes and as soon as we hung up I was called back and was asked if Dennis could come over now. Dennis showed up in no time and de cussed my options with me. Chad was sent here to correct our problem of the leaking toilet and he was very nice, efficient, and installed new parts in the tank . It is great to have the equivalent of a new toilet! The other night when it was about 15 degrees out, we came home from work to find our heating system down. We have used A Johnson since they installed the unit about 8 years ago. Tyler called us back and drove an hour to our house to try and fix the problem. He did everything possible to make it work but the part he needed was not available at night. So he tried some other things and spent quite a long time trying to fix it for us. In the end , he returned the next day with the part and we are back on track.Tyler was very respectful and very sorry that he was unable to get our heat back that evening. He was also professional and personable.( Which made paying the bill a little easier!) He is obviously a hard worker and dedicated to his profession and the clientele that they serve.
Theyve installed a new heater and hot water heater for me and did a great job on both. No high pressure sales. I called the other day because I needed the gas shut off on my stove replaced. Liz double checked to make sure they could do it and they will be here in June to do the job. Its not an emergency, so the wait isnt an issue. Considering whats going on in the world, I think its darned fast.This year, 2021, they came to do the yearly check on the heater we bought from them. The technician did a very thorough job, was polite and explained what he was doing and why. They are an excellent company to do business with.
One phone call... I have a small camp and Im not here all the time. It has a hand dug well that had failed. Finding someone to help seemed like a losing battle. Then I called A.Johnson. The technician they sent was here on time. Assessed the problem and informed me of my options. His name is Thad he was polite and respectful... very thorough and he had my issue resolved in a timely manner for fair price. I looked up how much the materials cost and I was here when he did the job... very fair price. Thanks to Thad... and A.Johnson... I have my little camp back .
I absolutely recommend Thad(again) and Austin. They were here to install new plumbing/shut off valves for my washing machine. Cannot say enough good about this company. Liz is great to work with. Thad is truly professional, hard working and pleasant. Met Austin today, hard worker, pleasant and professional. Getting ready to have them back for another job, will be job#3.
We had a propane leak in one of our shut off valves. We called and were set up with an appointment in the early AM, received a call that the tech was on the way and arriving within the hour. The tech was punctual, knowledgeable, experienced, and efficient. He had the part delivered and repaired in just under an hour, and checked the entire line as well as the appliances running off the lines. Very professional and glad we chose this company to take care of our work.
This company was always responsive, quickly answered the call, and helped us with all available options. They installed the new furnace with no issues, wearing masks and cautious.They were always courteous and helpful and did a great job installing the system.
Sean arrived on time, provided me with several options and estimates for the issue at hand. Once we decided on the course of action, he immediately got to work. He also noticed some problem areas with my furnace that the home inspector never picked up on and will be repairing that in the near future. Cost of service is reasonable and fair. Sean was honest and a pleasure to work with. Very professional and courteous. Overall, very pleased.

Extremely overcharged for washer and dryer valve, total was $1200.I had a leak that destroyed my house, Mary Beth was great and they were there in a timely manner, for what they charged me, I felt taken advantage of due to the situation. What was I gonna do? My ceilings were falling down and they were the only people who came. I appreciate that but... The first person they sent didnt turn on the main, discovered this after he left, I found it and turned it on myself, then a waterfall poured out of the hot valve which only exacerbated the already dire situation. Charged me almost $300 for what essentially nothing, he didnt even change out the hose, gave me my faulty hose back and said there should be no problem with me figuring it out myself. They sent another guy back who was awesome, but charged me close to $800 for a half hour job to change the washer and dryer valves. Ummmm....doesnt add up.
Our technician Jesse. was awesome! He came for our annual furnace cleaning. He gave detailed description of what he did. He also gave advice of what to look for and what to do in the event part of the heating system should fail for whatever reason. 100% would recommend anyone in the area.

We are very happy with the installation of the Rheem furnace and the duct work involved. It was a complete removal and reinstall, the service personal arrived on time and worked diligently. Brandon talked with me and explained the functions of the furnace and what needed to be done with the duct and the work was a three day job separate from the furnace install.We are very pleased!
Slept in Saturday morning and woke up to a cold house the day before the big snowstorm. Good luck trying to get someone to repair the furnace if you dont have a maintenance agreement. Called half a dozen furnace repair companies but all of them refused to help. Except A. Johnson Plumbing and Heating. Yes, there was an added expense since I wasnt already a customer of theres but they were willing to send someone out that day; more than any other company was willing to do.They had Sean out here within a few hours. Sean was friendly and efficient. He explained exactly what was needed and why. He presented 3 estimates: good, better and best and clearly explained the difference. There was a fair amount of corrosion and some parts that needed replacing so I went with the top option. Best to get it done right the first time. He already had all the parts he needed and a couple of hours later the furnace was up and running.And I learned my lesson. I also went with the annual maintenance agreement as I never want to face worry and danger of having no heat during a weekend when temps were expected to drop into single digits with high winds.
Our service professional, Thad, was courteous, professional and efficient. He explained the job completely and I am confident the work has been done to my satisfaction. I will call on A Johnson again should the need arise.

In this day and age of almost non-existent quality customer service...I just have to let you know how much I appreciated the service I received today. Michael and Heather came (on time!) to replace my thermostat. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and professional...answered my questions and had the thermostat installed in no time. They made a recommendation for future service (which I will definitely schedule)...and simply made the encounter a pleasant one. My first contact was by phone with Lisa...another person who clearly understands how to communicate with customers and provide great service. Thank you all...and you can be sure I will recommend you to everyone I know!!!
Mike A showed up on time for his pre-announced examination of the work to be done. He was very pleasant and thorough. Then I was presented a bill for $75 for his estimate. In the previous emails and texts reminding me of the appointment, I had not been informed about this charge and it was quite a shock. None of the other 3 plumbers had charged for an estimate. A. Johnsons estimate was three times higher than the lowest estimate for the work. Needless to say, I went with the lower estimate and am quite pleased. Pretty slick operation.
Called for my aunt who lives alone, has Alzheimer’s and had no heat in 30 degree weather. 2 separate guys came, 2 separate times, charged $500 and couldn’t fix the furnace that is only 4 years old. Then left us to call over 24 hours to get someone else’s help. We ended up going with another company. Very unprofessional and not knowledgeable in the field. Do not recommend in any emergency situation.
Weve been A. Johnson Plumbing & Heating customers for several years. They installed our central air unit and also put in freeze-proof spigots with internal shutoffs so our hose spigots dont freeze during the winter. Mike A. is courteous, punctual, skilled and knowledgeable - a true professional. We request him, specifically, because of the excellent quality work hes done for us.
This place I rate 5 stars. On time, and did a great job. They unclogged my sewer feed, replaced a 75gal hot water heater and then sent over a cleanup crew to get rid of knee deep standing water from the sewer backup. Did a great job and were nothing but understanding and nice the whole time. Theyre my go to plumbers from now on. The technician they sent out was Mike and he is a pro.

We had an after hours emergency and A Johnson, and Brandon responded within 15 minutes of our call. Brandon came with a smile on his face, was professional, worked quickly to resolve problem and made us comfortable with the outcome. I would highly recommend this company and will call them in the future.
This company did not pull permits for install, our $9,500 system has never functioned properly, technicians have been out multiple times, the owner takes no responsibility, and when something is wrong everything gets passed from person to person. It has been almost a year (install last December), calls to the attorney general, to NYSERDA, and our lawyer to even get this fixed. We still haven’t seen any compensation, and someone came today to fix it supposedly once and for all, the tech Sean is the only decent person in the entire company.
Told me it would b 3 weeks for a furnace, i had to keep calling them for updates after 6 weeks. They proceeded to tell me they could get me a different brand within the week and set the install date. Day of install date They still didnt have the brand they said they would have but they had a lower name bramd furnace ready (all the same price somehow) which i had to just get installed bc i couldnt wait any longer. After the install it didnt pass code for safety which they nicely offered to fix for another 500. Save your time and use someone reliable

Mike A has serviced my furnace for many years since the installation of the unit. He is very knowledgeable about his job & always answers my many questions about the unit.
Mike and his assist did a great job fixing the pipe under my kitchen sink. A bit pricey ($225) but at least it got fixed, and Mike was honest in telling me that my septic was backed up, which I had pumped out today....and that cost was very very reasonable.

First off . Mike is a true professional I have been dealing with him for a number of years. The new pricing methodology is frustrating. A repair to my furnace is constituted by the price of the product and installation as well as two on site visits at $70/ visit plus a 30 minute diagnostic at $99. That is $240 before the actual repair is made. Got to say that is extreme..may make me look for a new HVAC company
Brandon did a great job repairing my heating unit and was very helpful in helping me learn more about my heating system. Would highly recommend A. Johnson. They will be my go to from now on.

Estimate came in between $5100-$6700 to replace an 33 gallon oil-fired water heater. R. U. Kidding. Me. $1100 of that to reroute the water feed line (literally cutting a foot or so off the pex tubing). I asked about switching to an electric water heater and that estimate came in at just under $5000! Oh, and they charged $75.00 for the estimate after not mentioning a charge AT ALL previously. I also heard about two dozen times how great their $125 yearly membership was (gag).I ended up using Allen and Palmer out of Northville, NY and paid only $1100 to switch to a larger electric run tank.A. Johnson is a joke.

Had an emergency service call to fix my oil burner. It was in the negatives and Im sure they were busy. They made it to my home very quickly. Tech was very nice and explained everything that was done. The price was a little bit high. They were the first ones to call me back, so when youre freezing... I would use them again.
Very good service overall. Made and kept appointment despite adverse weather. Brandon was very professional & friendly. He offered follow up if necessary despite it being a weekend. Not cheap but we got what we paid for and are very pleased. We’ll definitely use them again.
As a local REALTOR, I frequently refer clients to local businesses. I just sold a listing in Johnstown, a home that needed a free standing gas stove to be serviced and repaired prior to transferring to the new owners. My sellers called A Johnson Heating. They came, worked on the stove and were paid approximately $390 immediately. The new owners have taken possession and stove is not working, less than a month after the service was completed. Quotes from A Johnson Heating...we sent a new employee there, we dont normally service those types of stoves, we can give you the name of someone that does & you are not the ones we did the work for. They are not willing to refund the money or correct the problem.
I had them replace my old furnace and they did a great job!! The men were very professional, took time to explain things to me, and cleaned up well after they were done. Excellent service all around at a very fair price!

This company responded within hours to a problem with a piece of equipment that they had installed a year earlier; diagnosed and fixed it at no charge because they felt that they were partly responsible. They also provided important information for understanding and diagnosing similar symptoms in the future. We are very happy with this servicer.
I had an Energy Star upgrade that included insulation and a new heating plant. A. Johnson installed insulation throughout the house, which was not an easy thing. I have three levels...but they did a great job! Looking at the outside of the house, youd never know they were there. They installed a heating plant that is the instant on hot water type supply from Triangle Tube (Prestige Excellance model) that replaced my hot water baseboard boiler and the hot water heater for household hot water use. The unit takes up about one-quarter of the space and looks really cool! A. Johnson (Tony and Tony Jr.) are very responsive as well. I needed a temperature adjustment and they were right there to do it. Great crew and product!

Charged me 4 times more than what it was $1232 to fix a leak parts were less than $100 they charged me around $600 and on top charged over $500 because the leak was in the basement. Took advantage of my wife Because I wasn’t home . Totally Disgusted

2022-03-25We had a series of issues with our plumbing and heating after a cold snap broke some pipes. Our crew with Bobby and Michael were considerate of our budget and time constraints to get the proper repairs done in a timely manner. Their communication was excellent and thorough, walking us through every step with mindfulness where they could and couldn’t give us guarantees. Very professional and courteous! Can’t sing their praises enough!

2022-04-02Tyler was very thorough and detailed when explaining what he had found and some things to look out for. We are first time home owners and did not know certain things we needed to do, but Tyler explained everything to us. I will definitely call them in the future and for yearly inspections/cleanings. 2022-02-25Anyone living in the North Country knows how hard it can be to find home repair/renovation help. The good ones are booked months ahead, and the others tend to just not show up at all or even respond to inquiries. I emailed A. Johnson to get a quote on upgrading our water heating and well water filtration, and got a response less than 30 minutes later. Made an appointment right away, and Bobby showed up today, on time even though its snowing like crazy. I have never met a contractor who was more excited, interested, and professional. He laid out three different quotes, gave me his honest thoughts on each, and after I picked my option he was on the case getting things ready before he even left the house. I cant wait to see the completed project, and couldnt be happier with A. Johnson, or with Bobby.

2022-02-17Technician went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. Everything broke at once, and we had no heat Wednesday evening. He showed up at 9:00am Monday morning with a new furnace, and had it installed so we could have heat that same day. Our hot water tank also began to leak within the last few previous weeks, and in the middle of winter with no heat (space heaters only) and 5 minute showers until water ran cold, I was freezing. The hot water tank was delivered to the office while he was installing the furnace, so he left our home once the furnace was installed to pick up the hot water tank, loaded it and brought it all the way back to our home, and installed it after hours so we could have hot water. He then spent the next few days installing new ducts and completing installation of all units, and will be returning in the spring when he can complete installation of the air conditioning unit. Thank you so very much for all your hard work, I am finally warm! :)

2022-03-08Recently moved out of state and needed someone to look at my water heater as it wasn’t working. Called yesterday. They were prompt to show up quoted me $492.00 to change out the thermocouple on my water heater. Said they’d also clean the burner on the water heater if I’d like for a total of around $650.00. I told them it was far to high of a price and called another service company out. They said your thermocouple is fine and working. He said however your main burner supply tube was plugged. They cleaned it out as well as my burner and charged $225. He said if AJ Johnson had done what they had quoted it still wouldn’t have worked….awesome job!

2021-10-15I contacted A. Johnson Plumbing and Heating via their website.I was able to schedule an Inspection of an Existing Furnace and Inspection of an Existing Hot Water Heater.Deidre with customer service was very helpful with helping me get everything set up since I had to be out of town.Once I returned and contacted Deidre she scheduled a Service Call that week.I received confirmation from them with the Technician and approximate time of his arrival.Jesse the Service Technician arrived promptly and we reviewed what I had concerns with.He was Professional, Courteous, and made some Recommendations.He checked with his office to see if he would be able to replace the Hot Water Heater and was able to set up the Replacement the same day.Once I gave him my approval he proceeded to get the Hot Water Heater and returned to install it along with finished his service of the Furnace.He reviewed all pricing and options available prior to any work and reviewed all costs after finished.I was pleased with the services they offered and they were very easy to work with.Thank you Deidre and Jesse.

2022-01-27Heat was out all night. Thank God for Tyler!! We couldnt find out what was wrong but he didnt give up and kept looking until he found the issue. A simple fix but he got it done! Thank you for your time and service!!! !00% satisfied and will definitely use yall again!!!
