Got fitted on Tuesday and Tux was ready by Friday for my event. I looked excellent. The gentlemen were very helpful and kind.
I went in Head first not doing research. Ordered a Very nice tuxedo. However I was Still very nervous wondering if I made the right decision. The Sales rep Alex assured me it would fit great and if alterations were needed they would be made On the Spot upon pickup. I could Not have been More Happy when we Picked up the Tuxedo it Fit Like a Charm.😍..the Measurements taken were So on Point !!! Thank you To Alex and his Staff at Abes Formal Wear, My son Is looking Extremely Sharp for Prom. I would deddefinit recommend this place to Family & Friends.
If you have a last minute tuxedo emergency Abes is the best place for renting. I went on a Thursday, they took my measurements and had everything ready for me the next day before my flight. They offer half sizes, so the tuxedo fit like a glove. Highly recommended!
Amazing pricing and service from this Tuxedo shop. I was able to purchase a tuxedo for the cost of a couple rentals. With several weddings coming up this summer I will certainly get my moneys worth from this tux.From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a smile and had a great feeling about this shop. After picking up my tux a week later, I knew I hd gone to the right place.

Decided to finally bite the bullet and buy a tuxedo (as renting one is ~50% of the cost of purchasing one) and I was extremely satified with Abes. They had a fair deal ($400 all-in including customizations, shirt, studs, bowtie, cumberbun, but no shoes) and the tuxedo fit and looked great. This was also all done 6 hours after I walked into the shop as I needed the tux the same day. In-general, a great experience and I would recommend to anybody in need of a quick purchase.
I needed to get a last-minute tux for an event, and had a terrible time trying to find a place that had a good selection of tuxes and could perform quick tailoring until I found AbesThe service was very professional and thorough, and I am extremely happy with both the quality of the tux as well as the fit. They were not pushy on the sales, and provided lots of options at different price points. I will definitely be going back.
We needed to rent a black tuxedo suit for our style conscious sons High School Prom. We also needed for some temporary alterations to the pants, as he had leg surgery. The folks at Abe;s could not have been more accommodating or helpful. Our son got exactly what he wanted and looked and felt like a million bucks. we highly recommend this place.
Came to NYC to get married from Australia and needed a suit. Found Abes on the Monday and they had our suites ready 2 days later. Had everything we needed, right down to the cufflinks. Absolutely fantastic service, couldnt complain at all. Recommend them to anyone. Thanks guys.

I live in AUSTRALIA but from NEW ZEALAND and was eloping to NYC. We got online and found ABEs through Google when we arrived on Thursday, we called Friday morning and he said come in anytime. We went in late in the afternoon. The store was easy to find, we went in and we were served very quickly by a lovely bloke I think he was ABE but their was another guy as well. He was very efficient and we were out of there in 30 mins. Suit and Tuxedos to suit any occasions. Custom made and sized. We paid a total of $227 including tax for a beautiful Tux - Shoes - Shirt - Vest - Hanky.I would recommend ABEs to anyone in NYC great prices great service and very quick. Really helped make the whole thing easy. So Grateful!
Go support your small business owners that are out there. This place is great. I am happy I work around the corner, these guys have been bringing my old wardrobe back to life, worth every penny. Support your local business owners, not giant corporations. Tapering pants, tailoring jackets, these guys are awesome! One stop shop for your outfit needs.
Terrible experience and horrible service. After arriving in NY I needed a suit for my best mates wedding. Simply put, It was just a terrible experience from the second I walked into this store. Rude, arrogant and not willing to help whatsoever. Any normal time I would have just reversed back out of there but I was desperate so I persevered and went ahead with the suit rental. Worst decision ever... The suit was measured up, 2 days later we returned only to note that not one measurement was changed. 2 hours later waiting in the store for adjustments only to be told the disgustingly huge pants I wanted to hire was normal for a rental... Rubbish...$145 later I hired a suit I couldnt even wear on the day.... I purchased one from a retailer on the morning of the wedding..!!!Long story short as I have wasted enough of my life on this business, I would never go here to hire a suit... Product, service and experience all rubbish... rant over...
I wouldve given a single star, but considering they have a wide selection of tuxedos, I am giving two stars. What brings me to write a review is their poor customer service. Three customers walked in after me and all three of them left before me (for the same service). I patiently waited and mentioned my concern to the staff/owner, to be yelled at in front of other customers. I will never step foot in this establishment again.
Found this place randomly because I needed to rent a tuxedo. Apparently I got fat this year and didnt fit into mine. Abe hooked me up in 2 hours and gave me a perfect tux for a wedding. This place is a secret gem of the city.
Had a terrible experience. They told me a reasonable price at the first place. After the payment, when I picked up the suits, they were charging 100 dollars for shipping and more than 100 dollars for customization. They didn’t mention it at the beginning...
Excellent service and good pricing. Very friendly owners who waited when I called saying I would be there a little after closing when I was both picking up and dropping off the tux. Highly recommend for any formal attire needs.
Abes was great, went in here to rent a tux for a work ball. They found me something that looked great, fit perfectly and gave the time and care to make sure everything was as it should be. Will rent from here again.

My credit card number was used by an unauthorized person for fraudulent activity at this establishment. Not saying this is necessarily the companies fault but taking a CC # over the phone with little to no verification coupled with the fact that I got a fax tone mixed with a generic answering machine every time I tried to contact the business did not help their case. Originally was calling to get more details on the individual who placed the order using a fraudulent credit card but now I kind of believe this business might have a part in the scam due to the sketchy nature of their phone line/ their availability.

Unlike the other review, which I disagree with completely, this is one of the best last old-school tailor shops in NYC. These two brothers can make anything you want, and make it well, and I used to go to them all the time when I lived in Manhattan. They are very pleasant and friendly and visiting them was always a nice experience. Their prices are reasonable and their work is excellent. Run, dont walk, to their little 2nd floor shop!(Masha)

Arrogant and rude guy. Tried to charge me $60 to taper and hem a plain pair of khakis. Aside from the high fee, the guy was rude.

I recently rented a tuxedo from Abes Formal Wear. The experience was beyond my expectation. From the second I walked in, the manager was super helpful, friendly and knowledgeable in what would work and what would not. When it came time to pickup and have a fitting of the tuxedo, the manager again assisted, and ensured that I would look my best.While wearing tuxedo, I got nothing but compliments and positive feedback as to the style, the cut and fitting of the tuxedo. So, I am highly recommending this business to anyone looking to rent a tuxedo. I am looking forward to my next rental.

I spoke to someone on the phone and the gentleman said dont worry your in great hands. Went on a Monday and picked up my suit on Friday. Thanks so much for amazing service. 2022-06-04Long story short, Abe’s performs miracles. Abe’s literally put together a tuxedo ensemble on a few hours notice which is unheard of. Don’t let the old school location fool you, they are quick, competent and professional. Plus you may meet a hedge fund manager in there who can give you some stock tips. I really love Abe’s Tailoring!

2022-09-13Abe’s knocked it out of the park for my tux rental. I went to them for my wedding and am happy I didn’t go some where else. They didn’t even charge me for dropping off the suit a day late. Best place to rent men’s formal attire in NYC.

2021-09-12You are probably looking for a tuxedo on Google maps because you need a tux and you’re strapped for time—Look no further. Alex is the maestro you’ve been looking for. I visited his shop 5 days before an event and he had no problem sourcing me a beautiful shawl collar tux. He is an absolute professional, and his shop is an old school New York treasure. They carry half sizes, so even your rental will fit you like a glove. Seriously, it fit me was so well my wife wanted me to keep it. I would recommend him without reservation. Send him your business, you won’t be disappointed.

2021-01-04I went to Abes for a very special, last minute New Year Eve wardrobe project. At this time I was dealing with holiday. rush, COVID, and little time to prep for this project. Alex was really gracious and informative on the tux rental, consulting me on what fits best with the sizing I had for my talent, and had everything done at the schedule he proposed. My client and I were very happy with the end result. I cannot recommend this place enough if you need a tux rental or consultation on suiting and tailoring :) Very fair price for everything as well.

2021-11-22My husband looked incredible on the day of our wedding! Mr. 007 - the man of my dreams. Abe’s did a great job fitting him and finding the right look. Although the shop may be shabby, don’t judge a store by the initial glance, they did right by us.
