Been waiting nearly a year for this place to open & its better than I expected! Great vibe & ambiance, looks like a varied & interesting selection of alcohol, cocktails, and beers. Prices are quite reasonable. Ive tried the Thai risotto balls & wasabi deviled eggs which were both delicious and the rest of the menu sounds great too. Lots of places to sit and 2 pool tables in the back.Visited twice in their first week and Ill certainly be back many more times. Chatted briefly with the owner on opening night (he was bartending) and he seems like a chill guy, all the staff Ive interacted with so far have been quite nice.A+No reason for me to go to Carmelos anymore ;-)
Went on a Saturday, and this place ain’t the same since pandemic. Vibe is dying sadly. Bartenders lost the energy too. The older lady with plant/vine tattoo on shoulder was absolute worst. Kept taking shots with friends instead of serving booze. The other bartender was carrying more than her fair share. Hopefully this place returns to its former greatness.UPDATE 6 month later: Vibe has improved but this place might possibly have the worst bar service in Brooklyn. what happened Abe??
Been going here for a few years. Great place! Just ONE thing… I feel like the spicy chicken sandwich was WAAAAY tastier a year ago or so. Nowadays every time I get it I’m disappointed. Meat seems not as high quality, and not enough sauce… but maybe I’m imagining things 🤷♂️
I don’t know what Kyle is on about but this place was an absolute banger. Pool tables and a good DJ thru the night, also the bartenders were on point and crafted me some good drinks. Highly recommend the showstopper. Also shouts out to the bartender Mau, was killing it all night and made a bangin’ whiskey sour.
Place seems okay, but stay away from the frozen drinks. I found a dime-sized shard of glass in my mouth while drinking the shaved coconut at the bottom of my drink. If I hadnt chewed well, I would have swallowed it. At least the bar is a block from the hospital. No idea how this could happen. Not coming back.
Tasty cocktails (not necessarily the most sophisticated, but who needs that - sometimes I just want a bright green apple margarita slushy), great food like their asian inspired loaded fries and wings are worth it and the ambiance (whenever we’re allowed back in) is really cool. All oldschool tiki and divey. They are doing outdoor seating at the moment. Also, although everyone in there is super cool looking from staff to customer - like intimidatingly cool - the staff are very polite and friendly!Worth going every time. Especially if you want to show your normie coworkers how cool Bushwick is.
We ended a mini bar crawl at Abes Pagoda. If we had started there, we never wouldve made it anywhere else! The drinks were amazing. Chris & Tony were friendly, personable and made us want to come back whenever they are on schedule (which is Sundays & Wed btw)It has a low key tiki vibe with good music, great drinks and friendly people. Love this place!
Got turned away at the door because I was carrying a takeout order of tortillas from another restaurant, with the intention of eating them at home. Discussed it with the doorman; no entry. I guess Abe’s owners think I’m just going to rip into a pile of tortillas while sitting at the bar with other patrons. Insane policy. Skip this joint.
I instantly recommended this place to a friend because WOW- the elote eggrolls just might be my newest obsession. The vibe is nice and they are extremely organized with covid regulations. I like that most of everything from menu to payment is touchless too. The drinks were great, the food was great- I will definitely be back! :)
I am mad at myself for overlooking Abe’s Pagoda. Their food is amazing and unique. I shared the mapo beef tots, elote egg rolls, Buffalo cauliflower, and pork dumplings with my partner and the portions are generous so we got two meals out of it. It isn’t every day that you find bar favorites with Szechuan seasoning. Definitely going to be trying some of their other menu items, give a try (especially those egg rolls)!
The take-out drink menu is fabulous. Starting in April, they were doing two of my favorites since grab-and-go became the new normal, “If you like Pina Colda” and “Headhunter”. Today I went, and they changed the menu to a few new ones, I tried the Sunset margarita and am still impressed. I like that they put it in a plastic container so you can carry home and not worry about spillage; definitely worth the twelve bucks for 16oz. Abe has made the quarantine a lot tolerable, but boy do I miss sitting inside a bar. Highly recommend.
I actually did utter the words “this is the perfect bar” last night when I had the pleasure of spending the evening at Abe’s Pagoda. They had everything from cheap beer to wine to cocktails and a really sexy bar layout that made it easy to order drinks. Also, they had SO much space and seating which was really refreshing after mostly hanging in bars that have super minimal space. Their food - the drunken noodles, specifically, were top notch and was plenty of food for me and my boyfriend’s late night craving. And, they have 4 bathrooms and two pools tables - I mean, what do they think they are!? Heaven!? One little off-putting element was the wicked sticky floor but they are a bar after all - so all is forgiven. 10/10 my fav new bar in Brooklyn.
Such a qt! The layout and colors are everything! A little jukebox at the front, lots of cute cocktails and frozen drinks, and a kitchen window! I didnt get a chance to go to the back, but people were going in and out so it *exists*. I had the watermelon rosé frozen drink and the Korean chicken wings and fries. The wings were tough to eat, but the crispy outsides were enough to satisfy me. LOVED the drink! Tastes like a fresh watermelon! And the fries were peppered 👌🏽
Steam dumplings are served with RAW PORK, good luck with that. Heard this place was good, so my gf and I decided to give it a try. The seasoning of the steamed buns was good, but to our horror, the pork filling and the flour around the filling were still RAW. The restaurant did refund us for the buns, but I really dont know how much responsibility they could take if people get sick - since it could take several days for raw pork to get people sick. My gf has had signs of food poisoning for several days, and we cant even visit hospitals due to the pandemic.I really hope the restaurant takes their quality control seriously.
One of the worst chicken sandwiches I’ve ever eaten. The breading was so hard and over fried I lost a part of a filling. Good music and prices otherwise. Don’t eat here. EDIT: So I forget to mention that the bartender was super nice about it and agreed that the sandwich was misprepared somehow. Anyhow, she offered to comp the check which was nice but they still charged me $15 hahaha. That was an expensive Budweiser even by NYC standards.
I really enjoy the decor and atmosphere but my wife and I were sipping on some shots and one of the bartenders was trying to clean up and put his finger in my wife’s shot and then said “oops” and walked away. When we tried to rectify the the situation he accused her of yelling at him, (even though we were speaking in the same noisy bar volume as he was)he then came back at her saying if she was gonna yell at him he wasn’t gonna help us. All we wanted was the same amount of liquor we had without your dirty finger clouding up her mezcal. It wouldn’t have been hard but you couldn’t even hear us out or give her an apology.Customer service in a service industry will get you so far, but I guess you know better... being a sub par bartender
My favorite new bar and tiki place in the neighborhood! Its decorated impeccably and the tiki drinks are well thought out, original and very tasty. My favorite is the coffee and coconut one. Dj spinning a mix of soul and 90s and the two pool tables in the back are great.
Abe’s Pagoda is a rare diamond in the neighborhood. It’s evident on a single visit how much thought was put into all the details: lighting, decor, music, sound quality, aesthetics, food and drink selection, service quality...it’s all here. At one point, my composer friend and I were shocked to realize a DJ had been spinning music for about 45 mins — song selection was perfect, fun and classy, and the sound levels were controlled for our discussion at our table, but pumpin and energetic on the floor. Can’t wait to go back!

2021-11-05I recently visited Abes in BK and if you are the type(like myself) that often enjoys a hidden gem with a moody interior, great drink variety, amazing pricing, and a the ability to be a tucked away or in the mix I havent found many places above ground that gives what Abes Pagoda does. Food I would definitely recommend their spicy wings as a future go to for me on my next visit and cocktail wise I would pair it with the Smooth Operator. For something thats really good solo and will get you there my vote is for both The Zombie or The Jungle bird. They also do have a strong coffee cocktail I will also say try at least once when you go!

2022-06-17The vibe was great, Happy Hour prices were good, the wings could have been sweeter, but they were delicious

2021-10-14Great vibe and great drinks! Interesting blend of Tiki throughout the menu. The food is actually great as well if you need a quick bite. The few times I’ve gone have either been pretty chill and easy to get a spot wherever, or completely packed to the gills. So just know what you prefer and pick your times accordingly.

2022-01-21Played great music with fun ambiance but because it was so crowded inside we could not get the attention of a bartender for over an hour :( had to go somewhere else for drinks.

2022-07-06Extremely disappointed at Abe’s, been coming here for years, local worker, inmediately judged by a bartender and refused every service including food after my group has literally spent thousands on private events and after shifts events. No one was intoxicated, would not even give us a reason. Bartenders name was Andrew, no respect no regards and half of our group had just gotten out of work from the hospital across the street. When we started to leave he said “ JK I can serve you guys now “ Honestly other bars deserve our service with just as good food. I have never felt so judged, disrespected and degraded as that bartender had at Abe’s, very sad because I was a fan of this place before. The irony that the security guard was rolling up a J as we walked in LOL.

2022-05-10Absolutely love this place! It was my first time visiting this pat Sunday with my best friend for my be-lated birthday celebration and I loved it!!! The food was so delicious and the drinks strong and flavorful. They have some great specials during happy hour which I fully took advantage of $1 wings per piece. I had the Spicy gojuchang wings so good! And they do thie frozen tiki drinks for $8 I had the pain killer. We shared the loaded tater tots and OMG when I tell you I have never tasted anything like those tots!! Foodgasm!!! They were loaded with these deliciously marinated chunks of meatballs, scallions cilantro, fresh avocado different types of melted savory cheese and sauce do it!!!! You need it in your life I believe the same can be done for the French fries. Prices are great and service is awesome. This will be a regular hang out for me and my friend from now on

2022-03-26Idk if it was 80s music night...but this bar hands down had one of the BEST music selections. it started out with oldies, there was a disco ball, projector and old-school TV playing the MVs in the back of the room, the decor was not trashy, not pretentious either. Fun/good vibes all around.70s, then 80s disco music, some funk, alot of classics, then progressed to 90s hip-hop (missy elliot) even some Linkin Park!my 90s self was having a field day. Drinks were nicely priced too. (beer + shot combo for about 9bucks) Hot damn will be back!

2022-05-28What an interesting bar. Pool tables in the back, club in the middle and nice bar in the front. Prices are what you expect for the city. Service was decent.
