I’ve visited this space three times now, and there are definite positives and negatives both about the business idea as a whole and the specific implementation they’ve gone for here.Firstly, the business has to be congratulated for building a stylish, modern space. It’s clean, well laid out, and very much appropriate for the upmarket, ‘Gram-friendly vibe they seem to be actively pursuing. Staff are friendly and polite, parking is plentiful and easy to access, and they have some picnic tables outside to sit and enjoy your purchases with others. Since it’s set in Accord, a small and beautifully old-fashioned village, it seems to fit right where it is.It’s not clear, however, exactly what kind of business this shop is meant to be. Clearly, its target audience is millennial, concerned about things like food miles, sustainability, and a good range of meat-free options. However, very few of the offerings cannot be had for cheaper (sometimes significantly cheaper) at more traditional area markets such as Peter’s or Emmanuel’s, or even ShopRite or Walmart. This is another thing which matters deeply to millennials, and one that seems to have been overlooked. Most of Accord Market’s inventory, therefore, is merely duplicating the high end of a normal supermarket. Yes, it does claim to be a”full market,” but in order to justify its existence it should double down on local. Millennials are increasingly well-travelled and well-read, and offering them Organic Valley (an industrial cooperative) or, worse, Bel Gioioso cheeses in place of actual, authentic local products shows a certain lack of understanding of the target audience for such a store. There are a few exceptions (Chatham Creamery makes an appearance) but to fail to take proper advantage of the rich and plentiful options in the Hudson Valley is disappointing indeed.Things are better in the meat department; most of their offerings are local. They are, however, quite pricey, and, of course, irrelevant to vegetarians and vegans, who make up an unprecedented percentage of millennials and Gen Z compared to previous generations. On the whole, this shop is a high-concept idea which as of yet fails to live up to its promise. Without a more sustained effort to give consumers access to the rich and varied produce of our own state, it gives relatively little incentive not to simply drive the extra few minutes to Emmanuel’s. To thrive, Accord Market needs its own niche beyond simply cultivating an air of pretension to which it fails to live up. Here’s hoping—I know I do.

2021-10-03Loving this new addition to Accord! In addition to a well-curated, high quality selection of local goods, this place offers some excellent vibes, thoughtful service and a sweet sense of community. It’s even within walking distance! Now whenever I’m in Brooklyn or away, I find myself missing the market and wanting to get back to check out new additions to the inventory!Keep up the great work Accord Market and for anyone that hasn’t been yet, do yourself a favor and stop by.

2021-09-03This new market is beautifully designed inside and out, with a thoughtful selection of fresh produce, healthy staples, yummy snacks, and interesting and quirky offerings like bitters. the staff are friendly, helpful, well-informed, and clearly care a lot about the success of the enterprise, making a visit here much different from a visit to many other stores in the region. for me, this market is a huge plus for accord - and i hope it signals the beginning of a larger renaissance for the town. congrats to everyone involved in creating this jewel.

2021-09-26Updated review, 3 to 4 starsLooks like some of the early wrinkles are slowing being worked out.I was happy to see a wider selection of produce (still on par with saunderskills or Davenport). They do have very local eggs (still pushing $9 a dozen lol) but that’s great to see. There is more local cheese than we typically find, so that’s nice.I think the full time nature of the market will fill a gap during the winter months but I still get my basics elsewhere.I have two requests if the inventory supports it:1) slow motion from counter culture for is decaf drinkers (you have their other roasts!)2) a bread flour! Bob’s or King Arthur would be fine

2021-09-02I’m so excited to have this market in town. I know this is just a soft launch (with bulk bins and more stock coming soon), but it’s already off to a great start. I’m grateful to have something in town we can walk to that’s open 7 days a week. I’m really grateful for the mix of options (and pet food) that will save me a few 20 min drives a week now.

2022-01-05An unexpected gem, for city folks like me visiting for a few days. It is so good to find such a variety of healthy choices and quality food. It reminds me of when Wholefoods was first born in NYC. The staff is also very helpful and pleasant.

2022-06-19Love this grocery store, it’s nothing but top shelf, with local made products that are off the hook.Worth a stop for some great snacks for the campground! They even have bundled fire wood.Their meats are all great, I tried the British Banger’s pork sausage and the Lamb Mergues , both great tasting, the lamb was my favorite. The speciality beer variety is phenomenal! The staff are so friendly and it’s a great place to check out in this small quaint town.

2022-04-09Great place to stopover to stock up on goodies for spending a weekend nearby in catskills... they have managed to fill the few shelves with everything you could think or dream of needing! From local baked goods, organic produce and meat, vegan & gf options, frozen meals, tons of beer and canned coffee/kombucha, to breads, baking items, baby food, spice, snacks and all else.

It’s nice to see fresh, wholesome products from local farms. We’ll definitely be shopping here on a regular basis & spreading the good word! A refreshing change from big box stores.
