ACME Markets in other cities:
This was my first time in this store. I needed something from the customer service area. The line was not only long and not moving, but everyone on it was grumbling about how awful the employees were. I didnt get involved and simply said they must be overwhelmed. Unfortunately, the rest of the line continued to gripe about how its always so slow, the employees are incompetent, no one cares, they hate this place, etc. I still defended the people dubbed essential not so long ago. Then the TWO people in front of me had errors on their requests! One had money orders made out for the wrong amount and the other had Western Union sent to THE WRONG COUNTRY! Maybe theyre right to complain so much! My transaction was handled well, but it certainly took a very long time since TWO errors had to be corrected by the manager.
I liked it better when it was A&P. Acme is supposed to have discounts but I didnt see much discounts the few times Ive been here. They dont have a supermarket discount card, at least not when I asked before, to receive discounts. The outside marquee looks so tacky, it looks like somewhere thats getting ready to close and be condemned. It shows that whoever is responsible for the store takes no pride in their property, they just threw up a sign however way and was done with it. They have the same staff, at least one woman I know had been with the A&P for the longest that works there. For the neighborhood and the people that live around there Im surprised that theyre allowing the store to remain disheveled looking on the outside.
I bought two rosette pink cakes. A round one and a sheet cake also with pineapple and strawberry filling. I Loved both cakes. Fillings were nice and fresh..very tasty. Lots of frosting but understandable because of rosette design. KUDOS to Baker! And the prices were great!!
Right off the highway. Big parking lot. Prices are higher than neighborhooding supermarkets. People were not practicing social distancing or wearing masks. Did not see staff enforcing or cleaning. Decent selection of foods and dry goods. Produce and meats could be fresher.
Update-8-21The aisles where de-cluttered and it’s back to its original glory. FIVE STARS!!!!Original reviewI liked how the place looked inside a year ago. Now the aisles are packed with too much stuff and its hard to walk around. There used to be space for people to stand apart in this store now everyone is on top of each other. Please remove all the items from the main walkways and common areas, it’s just way to crowded, it’s too much.
Everything you need is here..The customer service people are wonderful. When asking for an item they actually go through the isle to show where the item is located. I also experience great customer care w Sandra a Cashier who took the time to show me how to sign up for the Acme application to save money on my purchases and future purchases by clipping the coupons. Great people and place. Very clean and organized. The shopping cart attendant thank me for returning the shopping cart.
If you use their app you sometimes get good deals. Cashiers however will give you an attitude if something on the app doesnt apply to your order and you need them to fix it. Its their job so Im not sure why it aggregates them but whatever. Would have given 4 stars I it wasnt for the cashiers...
Most of the products quality are sub standart.Dont mind paying a price for quality item, but have been replaced by companys own in house items which are quality wise below standart, and prices on these items are priced as a quality item.Make profit but not at the cost of quality.
ACME definitely has great customer appreciation. They offer many nice decent deals that someone without food stamps would appreciate. They also carry corned beef brisket year round if anyone is looking. Another thing, restrooms are clean. The only thing I would suggest is they should offer more options at the fish market department due to everyone not consuming shellfish.
Straight up scam. I made an online order directly with them as they arent using other platforms anymore and they canceled part of it because it was too big without telling me (after calling a bunch of times about other stuff). Do they do this with big families? It happened to be why I made the order and I put a note to contact me if theres an issue with that item as I wouldve been fine with splitting it between other options (though 10 lbs of meat is not a lot for a big family). Then they wanted me to reorder, so I had to negotiate not having a delivery fee again. Then when I finally got the item, I was charged a higher price for it ($42 more). I called ACME central for it, and they are claiming that its a different item because the system says so, even though its the same exact time, and I was never told that I would be charged more for it even with all the calls and confirmations involved. What really happened is that they didnt put the weight in for the item and instead exchanged it to use the in person price. The online price is probably incorrect anyway considering that its lower then items that it should be more than. This means that I can order a candy bar for a dollar online and they can exchange it for the same item then double the price if they feel like it. Thats a scam and illegal.I am perplexed about why they wouldnt use this experience to fix obvious major issues. Instead, they are doubling down on a fiction. I am not even mentioning other issues with their system and the order. I have spent many thousands at this store over the years and Im done. Esp. since there have been issues with in store prices and discounts a multitude of times. The main positive I would say is that the staff was very nice. But there are fundamental issues that need to be addressed on the corporate level. Esp. with the online system.Review update: I got the partial refund after being told the decision to not give was wasnt going to change by Acme corporate. I got a message by the online store manager asking about the experience and wanting to learn from it. To be clear and I know I only mentioned this briefly in the initial review, the staff was extremely nice/helpful, but there are fundamental issues that I explained to Acme corporate (thats where I was directed to when I called about this - and not even what I wanted to call) and they decided to gaslight me instead of to learn from this. It was literally the only time Ive gotten mad on a call. They said something about how because it shows up differently in the system thats all that matters even if the item is the same and they cant take my word for it without evidence even though I had a screenshot and photos that they didnt want to look at. They also said that I couldnt get an in store price even though they were clearly the Im store prices down to the cent on each item. They double downed on being wrong and did not want my advice though Ive already shared a decent amount in detail. Acme corporate needs to get it together to help support hardworking people in the stores and in their call centers who likely deal with the brunt of the fallout. I offered to share advice for free and they didnt want to hear it and did even worse than that. Hire someone to improve your online system or you will needlessly lose business and/or not keep up with competition since online ordering is only going to grow over time. Actually support your staff that are keeping your business alive. Also try listening to your staff and customers. Its whole lot cheaper than a consultant.
Nice store. Lots of choices for cheeses, olives etc. Fresh seafood counter has alot of choices. Only thing i can say negative about store is their grocery prices are a bit higher than the competitive chain supermarkets however i dont mind paying a lil more because Acme checkouts are way faster than the others and to me thats a huge plus
The female cashiers are wonderful the prices are okay but whoever is hiring oh theyre doing an excellent job the sales are starting to get a little better but I just really enjoyed a customer service and a friendly staff 10 stars for the friendly staff for stars for the sales that are starting to get better😁😅
They tried to mislead us about prices in the customer service desk so that we would unwittingly pay twice what they told us the price was. The bottle return machines are all broken, full, or have so many people on line that you cant wait it out. What a come down from the Waldbaums that originally built the place.
I had an experience so good I am coming back and shopping. The reason for this was an employee name SLADE. He was truly the best, he had one of the greatest attitudes ever. He smiled, spoke with confidence, and even explained a few services ACME provides. Employees like slade are really a blessing. I was in a rush and my day could of been better, but slade got everything I needed done in a timely order. I even left the store smiling and more happy. That man is the true definition of “Heroes don’t always wear capes”.
The store is fully updated.the expanded the deli and moved the produce beside it. They now offer a pay per pound hot buffet. It looks really nice with the new shelves, fridges, tile floors, and registers. And the staff are extremely helpful. However the prices are still slightly higher than competitors.
I have always had a good experience hear. This is a good neighborhood supermarket . It is the old A&P. Its easy to get to by car or bus. The place is spacious and neat. The workers are as good as any other supermarket. The selection of departments makes for one stop shopping. Ive been here a few times on my way home and have found it very convenient. The supermarket services a lot of people in this area near McLean Avenue. We should be thankful that another supermarket chain took this over. The store does get busy but check out is easy and the customer service station is always professional. Check out the flyers that you get in the mail for the sales that go on weekly. Make sure you bring your coupons.
My husband and I love this store. This is our go-to store every Sunday morning. They recently did a renovation, which made the store even better. We went here every week even before the reno. The bakery along with the hot/cold food additions are awesome!! The diverse selections are great!
Overpriced on meats! Seafood sometimes have deals (crab legs) but thats all. Ill come here if its last min but at times I feel like the employees watch shoppers like a hawk. Get loss prevention personnel but to have an employee watch you like your a potential thief is very uncomfortable.
If you want the finest quality grocery products, produce and customer service, you cant beat Acme Foods. The product shelves are well stocked and the aisles are clean and uncluttered with inventory waiting to be placed. Prices are competitive and in some cases a real bargain. They have ample parking and they are exercising COVID-19 safe practices.
Love the baked goods department. Its clean and nice assortment of Acme generics. My cart locked on the way out for no reason at all. Alarm went off, three employees who were nearby looked over at me and continued their personal conversation. After about two minutes of trying to get someones attention,I finally yelled out and two employees came over to get me out of the store. I would have given them five stars but this brought them down a notch.
They have the best prices in the area, are spotless clean and the staff is very polite. Many healthy fruits and vegetables are on sale and they have a wide variety of deli meats. Just gotta resist the cheap cookies and sweets. I gained weight when I first went there and went overboard.PS: they are also open early and close late. The only thing this location missing is a pharmacy department.
Concerned to see that store employees are not all wearing masks. Specifically those who are stocking the shelves. I did speak to the manager about it and hopefully it will improve. Also at 12Noon on a Tuesday they are already out of 1/2 gallon of whole milk as well as some sale items r sale items
Some of the staff are completely rude and always on their phone. The fruit has not been fresh for the past two months if you look at the ORGANIC or even regular strawberries you see they are brown or already growing white mold. Other than that the sales they have are pretty good.
The supermarkets recent face-lift makes it a much friendlier store. The prepared foods and upgraded bakery and deli are a nice change. It is also nice to see that they finally have a butcher present and have a seafood department. With all of the upgrades came one change that I do not like, the cost. Everything seems to have gone up at least $1 and while that may not seem like a lot if you are getting one item it adds up when buying your weekly groceries. I hope that they redo pricing so that customers keep coming.
The newly remodeled store is a definite improvement. Its clean, well lit, theres an expanded prepared food area and the deli has been expanded. The quality of meat and produce is great, but still often overpriced. However, if you shop their sales, especially the BOGO, or even better, the buy 1 get 2 deals in the meat dept., you can make out pretty well. One downside is that the front of the store near the checkout is now very cramped & congested. I guess theyve made the aisles longer to stock more products, but when the stores busy and there are lines at the check-out, its like a traffic jam at the front. And speaking of the check-out, just like before the remodel, there are never enough cashiers, and there always seem to be a lot of trainees, making for long waits. Stick to sales & its fine.
Great improvements. Whole Foods like. Self check out is a little annoying when you compare with Targets. Clean bathrooms. Helpful staff. Prices are a little high but they try harder than before. At least they do not make me go to Shoprite as often as I did before. This is my new store.
This store is racist. My fiance is Mexican and was singled out for her mask falling below her nose as two white women not even wearing masks were bagging their groceries as we checked out. We will never visit this store again and someone needs to educate the staf1f . There are plenty of Acme stores in the area that have better stock and far better service. This acme is atrocious in their customer service and none of the workers are held accountable. I have tried contacting customer service to no avail, so luckily Shop Rite is still here. If anyone from Acme reads this, thank you for allowing your workers to blatantly racial profile so we could find a better store to give our money too. Completely shameful.
Great place to get a variety of foods and deals, great quality, cleanliness and prices! Unfortunately good luck finding anyone not rude looking enough to speak to and dont lose your mind when you see 4 people working behind the deli meats section but only one person gets helped at a time... 40 mins to wait for some deli meats... yup
I used to live in Denver Colorado wear there are Safeway stores. Acme is part of the same chain. This store really reminds me of a Safeway. Same house brands. Similar decor. Some great bargains. Some really overpriced cat food. Ive been going there for a couple of months and I will continue to return.
ACME HAS LYSOL BUT NOT GIVING IT TO THE PUBLIC!!Last night i went to buy groceries with my family & while we are checking out i see this employee with over 10+ Lysol wipes (to resell it to vulnerable people) & I asked the cashier if they had it in stock or at least in the back? She said that the employees get to buy Lysol not the public & ARE YOU KIDDING ME? So the employees can take boxes of Lysol while the public is trying to find it & buy it knowing there’s a PANDEMIC?? Unacceptable!!
High prices. Store does not keep track of proper inventory. This store lacks on rotating stock on vegetables and fresh fruit. Poultry and dry goods not restocked in a timely fashion. This store has a issue with itemdisplays and u boats being stored in the middle of aisles.
I haven’t visit this place much. When I walked in I asked if they made hot sandwiches and where I could get one. A gentleman said yes and to just to go the deli section. After patiently waiting about 15 minutes (they only had one deli clerk) the lady sarcastically told me they only sell hot food but do not make it??? And then laughed in my face. I was speechlessEarly morning and having to deal with that is not very nice. However people on selfcheck is very helpful
Stay away from the fish department. I returned two different types of fish in the same month because the fish was bad. I bought swordfish and it was bad. Then I bought shrimp and they were bad. They smelled so bad that when I brought them back the girl at the customer service counter could smell them as soon as I walked in the store. Not to mention there’s never anyone at the actual fish or meat counter. Now I know why.
I have totally given up trying to get through to Acme Supermarket on McLean Avenue. Your lack of customer service is a crime. Why would a person leave a customer on hold for 20 minutes, and then disconnect them??? These people need to be fully trained before they are allowed to answer the phone. When they pick up the phone they sound like you are waking them up! Then when you ask a question, they leave you on hold for so long you finally give up. Thats probably what they want you to do = hang up. In short, Im never going into your store again. Your lack of Customer Service leaves a lot to be desired, and Im totally done.
Used to be A&P supermarket and there prices were way to high and we never did any real shopping there. We would just pick up a item or two. This store has some of the best sales around. Just last week they had another one of there $1 sales and they also have some of the best meat dwals Ive seen. A must visit store for savings. One of our favorite places to shop!
When Acme first opened shelves were well stocked, no boxes in middle of aisles, plenty of people to help. Now, often, on sale items are out of stock ( never reordered), small items are placed on lowest shelves where it is difficult to reach them. Cardboard displays are up against items on shelves, blocking access, most aisles have boxes and displays down the middle making it impossible to stop to look at items if someone needs to pass you. Another problem is that it is often impossible to read sale signs. For instance Tropicana OJ is 2 for $5dollars but it is impossible to see small print that said had to buy 2 to get this sales price. In a community where there are a lot of elderly this store needs to do more to cater to this group with easier to reach items ( not on bottom shelves) easier to read signs and less clutter in the aisles, and better sale pricing. An older person may not need/want to buy 2 of a particular perishable item just to get a sales price
What an upgrade... this supermarket looks amazing... Great job! My daughter is over the moon that you guys have french macarons at your bakery.... Not bad at $2 a macaron... I love coming here... I think its pretty awesome that you guys offer the kids a free fruit and cookie every visit! I love my neighborhood Acme
Great improvements to the Acme that opened over a year back. With a total renovation and great sales, finally someone to give Stop and Shop a run for there money. Much warmer and friendlier staff then the Stop and Shop. I suggest this place to anyone who wants to save money and not be over charged by the once only neighborhood supermarket (Stop and Shop). They also have a gas saving program that uses Sunoco with the same price formula per gallon as Stop and Shop ( who uses Shell with the most premium price for gas). So either way its s win win to give it s try
First of all, the produce department is a MESS. The food is rotten and the strawberrys always have mold on them. The management is terrible, especially that Trisha lady, she yells a the cashiers like she has not one brain cell in her body and is highly rude when you ask her a simple question. The cashiers are childish and rush you out of the store, I DIDNT EVEN GET TO PUT MY MY MIXX NUMBER IN AND HAD TO PAY $4.50 FOR DETERGENT INSTEAD OF $3.00 LIKE MY DIGITAL COUPON SAID because the cashier was too busy flirting with the boy that is on self checkout. That kaleigh girl was so stuck on this one boy she forgot to give me my change. She shoved everything quickly into one back to get me off the register and not long after i left the store, the bag broke because she choose to ignore me when i asked her to please double the bag and proceeded with her explicit conversation. Get some employees that are useful and respectful and not completely oblivious to the world around them.
Throughout this pandemic, ACME was one of the few stores where I could get all I needed without having go to multiple stores, plenty of fresh fruit, veg, dairy, meat, pasta and bread. I stopped going to wholefoods because it was too frustrating.Of course the wipes, bleach, toilet paper etc were out like everywhere.
Its an ACME - so enough said in terms of limited quality & inventory but it has late hours - to midnight which can be useful. It is newly refurbished so it is relatively clean. They have $20 four pack meat deals for families on a tight budget which are decent. Tends to be chicken thighs, hot italian sausage, chicken breasts or bad steak & pork chops. The sausage & chicken thighs are actually pretty good & you can get a lot of meals out of those packages. The renovation is just silly - they have added a big deli section that is no better ( actually worse) than their old one, they have added alot of medicore to poor quality & over priced processed cheese. Given the diversity of the neighborhood they should have added a lot more truly authentic world foods & vegetables - instead of the boars head etc processed cheese that takes up a huge part of the stores foot print. Their new dairy section is also inferior. Very disappointing.
Although since the upgrade that Acme experienced the service is outstanding, the old crew still are around. thats awesome. however, this store seems to rarely cater to ethnic backgrounds. if I want to cook something international I have to go to the ghetto to buy it!!!!! the hispanic section is very limited. cmon now Acme! do something about that!!!! plus why not take tips from stop & shop. Their self service machine work all the time, instead of waiting for a cashier to attend to us because of your overpaid expense of a self serve area.
Acme is ok! They once had a bag shortage which makes no sense considering they’re a supermarket. That was pretty baffling. They lost money by giving away all their reusable bags. I feel bad for the treatment of their employees. All in all don’t go there if you want your groceries to be double bagged, affordable prices (because that’s basically nonexistent), and if you want good treatment. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!
In the case of ACME you must be a professional shopper, because the prices are both good and bad. You can get some buys like $5 deals, and buy one get another or two free, but is it really a bargain in the long run. For example at shoprite there was a sale on Hebrew National franks at 1.99 each, for three packs is $5.98, at ACME buy one get one free come to $ 7.99 for two, one less package for two dollars more. Its all up to you if you think if this is a real deal you not
The people who do the carts and do the bottle machines smell absolutely disgusting and their uniforms always look filthy like they rolled in the dirt like they are pigs. In the aisle next to the dairy i found opened deodorant. The international aisle is a joke. Before renovations it was twice the size now its one little shelf. prices are through the roof. Your employees say they check the back but they dont. I saw one of your managers look in the back he came back after 3 seconds... Also while leaving this terrible store a bunch of customers carts were locking up ( even mine) This store is ridiculous and im going back to my normal store stop and shop where prices are nice and low and reasonable and where Workers actually respect you and help you for what you need.
Very poor service. Staff and officials who do not respond to deal with the client when there is aproblem $ Unrealistic, realistic prices, there are prices on commodities and another price when you pay at cash $ There are unclean and healthy places inside $ There are expired items when you return they tell you we cannot exchange items
TNBefore administration or chain supermarket has a lot of options vegetables, now look like small store, because for example orange they have only a few. And everything in the same way. If you are supermarket you need to have items in quantity and quality like supermarket.

2022-03-22To anyone visiting the McLean area in Yonkers.Be sure to stop by Acme markets to satisfy your thirst and hunger. When checking out the listing, please see the menu highlights below for more information. In addition, the staff is very attentive. With that being said, I would like to bring your attention to the baking section for a very special recommendation and shout out.I would like to send a very special shout out to Samantha Strout. She is the cake decorator in the bakery section. As for the bakery section itself, it features a variety of cookies, cakes, sandwiches, and hot food such as fried chicken, mac & cheese and an assortment of other items to satisfy your hunger. The bakery section is also perfect for planning your next special gathering. Be sure to stop by and find the cake that’s right for your next birthday, baby shower, baptism, corporate event, wedding or any other party or special occasion. I would also like to thank Miss Samantha Strout for helping me get something for a very special friend of mine who was sick. I was able to get one of his favorite cakes which was a carrot cake decorated with lettering that said welcome home. A very special thank you to acme markets Samantha and The rest of their wonderful staff for their incredible dedication and hard work. Blessings to each and everyone of you.Best regards,Brian Velasquez!

2022-04-11Love this store and have been coming here for years and it deserves 5 stars , HOWEVER.. I’ve noticed and witnessed mentally ill individuals hanging out from time to time in front of the stores automatic doors . Some were acting out and being very aggressive and intimidating. I just hope the management at this location is trying their best to handle this . I’m sure it’s not easy to confront this . But it is concerning.

2022-05-24Stopped coming to this store for one reason: most of the cashiers do not help bag. They stand there (some with attitudes) instead of helping customers bag. It is really disconcerting to see this. We now shop at Shop Rite in New Rochelle where all the cashiers, young and old pack bags. Thank you.

2022-01-31I went there to just pickup a cake because I didnt have time to make it to my go-to place Sams Club for my cake and cupcake needs. I like to shop at acme but do not get there as often as I would like because its kind of out of my way. However it was kind of crazy because of the approaching snow storm. But I never understand why people loose their minds when snow is mentioned in the newscast. I mean we live in New York what do they expect in the winter months? I thank God I never have to go to the store before a store because my mother and grandmother taught me there are just certain things you should never run out of!😐
