I had to wait 30 mins atleast in the line to order my food. Its ok to try for 1 time, but regularly standing in a line is not worth it. I tried falafel sandwich for $7 (March 2022). The quality of falafel is excellent. But keep in mind that its new york style falafel sandwich, not the authentic Israeli style (with hummus, eggplant and a lot more things). The lack in salad too, just lettuce. Many other Better options available. But for try, its good. Their hot sauce is very spicy, not for a typical American person.
I love halal guys and seeing the line at adels had to try this too. Biggest plus is they have lamb and accept credit cards. For someone like me who doesnt eat beef, prefers a combo lamb and chicken platter which halal guys stopped keeping. Their rice comes in spicy and non spicy flavor and I went with spicy. Had this with white sauce and hot sauce. Overall chicken was more seasoned but lamb was overcooked. Some pita pieces were soaked in oil from the meats when they were cooking. White sauce not as good as halal guys and salad were 4 leaves and wrinkly. They also struggled to keep up with the line so the wait was 1.5 hrs. I went on Christmas eve so may try them again on a slower day. Price was $8 for a combo and the quantity of food was less compared to halal guys.
If there’s one dish I can eat for the rest of my life, it will be the chicken over rice served at Adel’s food truck in NYC. Found this place on tiktok and it has changed my measure for food trucks forever. Adel’s serves the yummiest, yummiest, yummiest middle eastern? food in all of NYC. Whoever you are, if you are in NYC, you have got to try this. If you have to stay in line, trust this total stranger, it is worth it.
I went to this place on Saturday light. I was really surprised by a big line of people waiting to order. It took about 30 mins to get the serial. They prepare the food very quickly so as soon as we order we got the food. The food is very good. Atleast better that other regular gyro place. Parking situation can be tough as this is in a very busy place. It be good idea to park on cross street and then get food.
10/10 simply because the big boss man there has to deal with drunk jerks. I walked by randomely because I really wanted to see nbc studios since I grew up with Conan o Brien and noticed a line. Decieded to join the line because I have nothing else to do at 2 am. I have pretty good Donair back home (Vancouver Canada) but this was special because I got (chicken/lamb mix spicy rice) and Ive never had a Donair plate that had tandoori chicken on it, supposedly the lamb loaf they make themselves was amazing, the green sauce was amazing, the condensed milk/garlic sauce was amazing and boss man recommended some bbq sauce and hot sauce on the side to try it out. It was also the cheapest meal in vancouver. Also judging by the reviews they genuinely care about the cart/employees so if boss man is reading this your killing it. Thanks for the kindness, it made my trip and same to the people standing in line who were helpful on whats good there.Tldr; highly recommend if your in the area and get a plate.
MUST TRY IN NYC! Got the combo with gyro and chicken with spicy rice, topped with fries and white sauce, with spicy sauce on the side (their spicy sauce was 🔥). Has to be the best Mediterranean food I have tried in the states, and this is after trying the Halal guys food truck a block away.
Pretty average cart food level food. If you think the long line means quality food you will be mistaken. They serve chicken / processed meat/lamb? or combination of the two over rice covered in a soup of mayonnaise (white sauce). If you are short of money and want your belly to be filled this is your place though you will have to wait half an hour in a long line.
Some of the simplest yet tastiest Middle Eastern-esque food is probably served at Adel’s. and even beyond that—it’s more satisfying and comforting eats than most of the boring sit-down restaurants in the area. as the adage goes: don’t judge a book by its cover or an eatery by the size of its grill (or lack of seats) for that matter.there’s literally nothing on the menu at Adel’s that misses—chicken over rice, lamb over rice, combo over rice, falafel pita, gyro sandwiches, french fries and mo’. recently, got the chicken over rice (you can choose plain, spicy or a mix of both—get the spicy or mixed rice!). pita slices are layered under the rice. there some salad crammed in. of course, it all gets topped in a tangy white sauce and hot sauce if you want. all of this food is crammed into a recyclable container. the chicken is tender yet has that grilled smoky savoriness. the spices are soaked into every bite of the chicken. the spicy rice is layered with spices and has a lil’ heat. the cooling white sauce and spicy hot sauce are that bold punch that sinks downward into the chicken, rice, pita, etc. the meat over rice platter are $8. sandwiches are about that price or less. the food continues to be flawlessly simple and satisfying complex as street foods often are. substance over flash, kiddos!the staff are super friendly and upbeat fluctuating conditions temperature, rain, wind, etc. tip them well. all that said, there’s typically a line for Adel’s—it’s just a testament to the popularity of the food. if there’s a superlong line, you may want to consider coming back bc it does take a while as the guys here don’t rush orders but do try to keep things moving.drops mic cuz you’re rolling deep at Adel’si outzzz
TLDR: Wait can be long but IMO worth it. Foods great, cheap, and everyone was amazingly friendly. Open late at night and if youre drinking this is what you want after.Im a tourist in NYC. I was looking for someplace cheap late at night, in downtown outside of my hotel. Before I write the rest of this, yes the wait is a bit, I waited half an hour or so before I got to the front of the line. That being said, this is one of the most popular food stalls in NYC, part of the culture. The food was amazing even after my 15 minute walk back to the hotel, I got the combo over spicy rice with white sauce FOR ONLY $6. The white sauce mixed with the meat mixed with the salad and pita mixed with the rice is heavenly. I got to talk with Adels son who was running the stall at the time. Really nice guy, putting in the hours working to try and make everyone happy. This stall feels like what quintessential NYC street food should be and I loved it.
I fan of this halal cart! The line is crazy long, but worth it. I like this one a lot more than Halal Guys! The rice is flavored and even bas a kick of spice that isn’t overpowering but subtly adds to the flavor of everything. The meat is also juicy vs dry and doesn’t need additional sauce/toppings to enjoy. Very generous portion and definitely will want to return for more in the future.
This place was the best chicken and rice I’ve ever had! Yes the lines were super long…we waited for 45 mins and IT WAS WORTH IT. $8 for any platter…$7 for any gyro or sandwich. Cash or card. Def get the spicy rice. Ask for extra white sauce and beware the red hot sauce is SPICY. I love spicy food but that was extreme (still yum in small amounts). The workers are also very nice/courteous!! 10/10
My favorite halal food in the city (maybe the us)!Must come here if you like halal food, no matter how short your trip is. The combo over rice is to die for.If you like spice, like ethnic/actually spicy food, be sure to get the spicy rice and white & red sauce. If you don’t, opt for the yellow rice and if you’re unsure about the red sauce, you can get a side of it for free. Can also get two extra sides of white sauce for a dollar, and no, they don’t give you one for 50 cents.Worth the wait, no matter how long it might be. They take card and cash.
If youre visiting this place, Id recommend not to overdo the sauces! You only need to order the Lamb Gyro with Barbecue sauce and youll get in love with it.Cool thing is each sandwich comes with plenty of meat and I consider it two meals, very economical.I take the half of my sandwich home and make my own rice the day after and I literally enjoy it for the second time!
Very, very confused by the reviews on this establishment. I was so disappointed by the food. The gyro was an average, mediocre gyro you get from any spot, with an almost non existent salad. Bland, salt-less meat that needed to be drenched in sauces to get any kind of flavor (and that was with the spicy rice). My total was $17, I paid $20, didnt take the change, and had to deal with the guys irritation upon asking for a second green sauce (for 2 gyros). Also never received the soda I paid for.On the bright side, it was a Friday night and somehow I only had to wait 10 minutes in line, so too much time wasnt wasted.
The challenger of the famous next block guy, the crowd might not as hillarious as they are but the taste is!!Its has a different and tasy flavor, i just love them, both of them. The generousity of the white sauce, the spicy sauce and the ingredients while the price is cheaper, Adels might win on those factors!Beware of the of lines as they only have 3 persons to serve the long lines even in 2.30 AM!!
Pretty good. I had nothing to compare it to, but what I had was sufficient which was the chicken on spicy rice. I wouldve given it more stars if they had hummus in place of the white sauce, but it was satisfactory. Wasnt worth the 45 minutes we stood in line for, but decent.
First NYC restaurant I ever tried and THIS IS HANDS DOWN. THE BEST. so good that I only had 4 precious days in New York but we visited Adels twice and waited in that long line (but thats how you know its good!) Also the beautiful fountain and radio city is nice to admire. My point is, you cannot beat the price, the delicious food AND the great service these gentlemen give, theyre courteous and polite! I would pay much much more for Adels!
Adel’s is among the top 3 halal places I’ve eaten from in my life. The falafel is crisp and incredibly savory, their spicy rice perfectly seasoned, and their pita warm and rich with flavor. Their sauces also perfectly compliment the savor of the bases to create an excellent end product.A friend of mine and I would make pilgrimages to Adel’s Famous Halal when we lived in New York City, rain or shine, for the grace of enjoying their delicious platters once more.
Very disappointed with this food cart. Seen the good reviews but then tye quality did not match the hype. was charged extra 2 bucks for a couple of french fries (that replaced the rice!). The plates lacked any greens and the different plates were far from even. The gentleman serving us was very harsh. Wont he coming back, so many better places just around the corner.Since there is a reply from the owner. Here is my response: - My plates did NOT have any green! which means it was a miss from your staff that do not seem to do what they are supposed to. - The couple of French fried were NOT on top and DID replace my rice. We did not have any rice in the place you see in the pic. We did ask if we could substitute the rice with the fries, and weve been told yes. It would have been ok and we would have been alright with the extra 2$ (that was not mentioned anywhere) if we only had a normal size portion of fries. However, we were only served few pieces of French fries and the rest of the plate was chicken mixed with carrots! The whole meal was dry, salty, and lacked the sauce (since it only had a slight amount of white sauce). Unfortunately, we had the plates to go and we only opened them when we were already at a distance from your cart. We would have returned them if we were still nearby.
Got the combo (chicken and lamb) over spicy rice. It was honestly amazing. I liked how they sliced up the bread so you could mix it in with the rest. Nice detail. And all for $7! The service was quick and to the point which is what you want out of a food truck. Gonna be my go-to place for a cheap, tasty, and relatively healthy meal late at night.
Prepare for a long wait. Waited about 30 min. In my opinion its better than the famous Halal guys stand further north. You can choose from yellow or spicy rice (or ask for mixed). Both chicken and lamb are good (get the combo). Friendlier service than the Halal Guys stand.
I am a New York native and this cart is beyond the best gyro cart in NYC, I have been trying cart food for 20 years and been going here since 2007. Now they have crazy lines at times. This place has never disappointed me in the 100’s of times I have gone there. Staff is the best as well, especially Hatem, dependable guy. I have only been disappointed when they are closed for some extenuating circumstances when your there looking for the cart.
Got there around the time they opened and there was already a line, but it was definitely worth the wait! Husband and I shared the chicken over rice as it was more than enough for 2. We were worried they were cash only, but were happy to find out that they take credit cards! Not many places to sit and enjoy the food nearby so we just stood and ate.
GREAT food, … but disgusting attitude. I ordered the same food as my friend (chicken over rice with french fries..)We were going to part ways soon after getting our food. We got out our chicken over rice but they told us we had to wait for the fries to get done. We agreed to wait.. 15 min later we got one platter of fries. Mind you we both payed separately because we were going to part ways. After waiting another 10 mins to get his attention, he told me he the fries in the platter is for both of us 🤦♂️. He processed to give me fries on aluminum foil. I told him it was not Necessary anymore. My question is why make me wait so long just ignoring me, what have i ever done to you then make it seem like it was my fault?! Come here for the food but be mindful about their mindset !
They are true to the quality of halal food which I used to religiously have in the early 2000s from halal guys ( dropped in quality ). The meat is juicy , spicy rice is so flavorful, the veggies fresh and to top it all of with that hot+ white sauce ...🔥🔥🔥 You couldnt have a better late night food experience in NYC for the price.
I tried the lamb over rice with extra white sauce. .. be yourself a favor and always ask for extra white sauce this food is amazing this is the second time Ive went there to eat in two days. Also their chicken over rice is delicious probably the best halal food Ive ever had. The chicken is moist with and without the sauce so was the lamb wonderful season yellow rice as well!
1 star has nothing to do with how amazing their food is, comfort food for sure! 1 Star because their operation is about making you deliberately wait for senseless amount of times (more than 60+ minutes thrice for myself now). No Halal cart does that to their customers who flock from all parts of the city. I’m sure they’ve already made enough money to expand the operation and reduce wait times but they choose not to, 5 people working on the cart yet only one fully functional in preparing your plate. It’s sickening to the core that the lines continue to increase and yet they fail to care one bit as I’ve witnessed that snail pace with lot of frustration!
Terrible. This place needs to hire some competent management. I waited in line because i wanted to try the hype. The hype is that they have good food but a terrible way of serving it. They’d do way better if they simply put some brains behind the process rather than have entirely disorganized staff. A relatively small line of customers (15 people) waiting 45 mins for an $8 platter is bad business.
Waited an hour last night, got three combo platters and all three of us got food poisoning. def not worth the wait, overhyped halal food. I saw them use the same spatula for cooking raw chicken to move it into the cooked chicken section. Understandably the grill is too small to be cooking large amounts so they cook the raw with the cooked chicken, it’s separated by a small divider but not perfectly divided. Should think about separating the chicken into a different container rather than cooking it side by side simultaneously.
Excellent individual ingredients tied together to create one if the finest lamb over rice Ive ever had.✅ Perfectly cured meat✅ Delicious yellow rice✅ White sauce was 🎯✅ Deep colored greens 🥬🥒Ive had some bad luck with carts in Manhattan over the past couple years, ranging between tiny over priced plates, poor quality, burnt or not even tasty at all throughout; very happy to have discovered this place, not a single complaint, staff was also the kindest Ive met . Food was still excellent and I picked up just as they were closing up shop
Very disappointed experience. Wat is special about this place? I ordered chicken over rice with spicy rice. Bread was stale and chicken had no taste at all. We stood in line for 30 min and food was not worth at all. I wish I would have gone to yellow halal guys only instead.
One liner review: I would just go to Adel’a halal food instead of The Halal Guys if you don’t have time.I tried Adel’s tonight and while their food was amazing, I thought the chicken and the lamb should be more juicy. The meat was a bit dry. Pricing was reasonable for a $6 platter. Their menu did not list the platter pricing. I had to ask them and it was $6.But they put me up for a blind test between Adel’s and The Halal Guys, I don’t think I can tell which is which.Tips: Get enough sauce!
Its different. You know how The Halal Guys chicken and lamb is (lightly seasoned)? This is nothing like that - its considerably more seasoned. But heres the thing, it actually tastes very good. All the flavors work (unlike generic spices that other carts use). I like it more than The Halal Guys. Its either Adels or The Halal Guys when Im around here. The guys who work here are really kind as well.
Food trucks in NYC are a dime a dozen right? Hot dogs, sausages, gyros, rice bowls, falafel, you see them on every street corner. But, once in a while, if you do a little digging, I think you can find one that knocks your damn socks off. And that is Adels. This particular truck is widely praised and rightly so. We actually went here for late night eats three times in five days. WHAT. But the rice bowls were just that insanely fantastic.Every night, I watched gleefully as they chopped and seared the piles of meat and vegetables and then spooned massive portions of it on top of lettuce and pita. And it didnt matter if we got lamb (hello, I dont even like lamb!), chicken, or combo, spicy rice or yellow rice, white sauce or none, hot sauce or none (though good lord I loved that fiery fabulous hot sauce), every single bite was perfection. By the end of our third visit, the owner recognized us and I told him we were leaving NYC but we would come back to see him next time.Fast and friendly, cheap, delicious, perfect. What an absolute gem. Super glad to have found this place.
As someone who grew up driving into new york for the halal platters, Adels did not disappoint. I havent had the satisfaction or fulfillment from a food cart in over a decade, mainly because the meat is generally flavorless and the white sauces are bland, but Adels was on another level. Brought me back to the days where youd grab a hot platter and eat on the sidewalk even in freezing weather (which is what we did). Highly recommend this cart for all my fellow friends who reminisce the early 2000 halal street food taste, and kudos to the gentlemen who work here for great service and generous servings. Also if you have to look for a review to decide what to order, you should know the mixed platter is the only way to go :)
Food is very very good. The problem is the owners always make food for people in the back of the line and let those people skip those waiting in line for 10-15 sometimes even 30 minutes. I have left the line, sometimes even when I am next in line when they take orders for others who have been online for far less time. They are losing an opportunity to create regular business with others by playing favorites. Your customers are waiting on line for a long period of time because they want to enjoy your food. You have no idea how dissatisfying it is to be told effectively that your order and your business does not matter as much as people who are on line behind. The people who the owners let cut the line when I have been there have not been essential workers. The owners comment is just not true. They let a guy and his girlfriend behind me cut the line and multiple other people who were not taxi drivers or people who called ahead. That is not an acceptable comment. You should just try and do better not lie about how you serve some people before others in line
I think it’s definitely a great competitor in the halal cart scene if not one of the best! Line was about 15 min on Friday around 7-7:30pm. Got the combo over rice over spicy rice. Falafel looked super fresh and crispy but did not try. White sauce was a flavor bomb and hot sauce packed a punch so be ready! Can’t wait to come back. All the staff was incredibly friendly. They do take card as well
I went on a rainy day and walked around over 15 mins during their business hours and I guess they closed shop but no way to know even after checking their website. I emailed their customer service someone named Duncan? And didnt hear back from him on the exact location of the food cart.
Hands down...this place is a hidden gem! I been eating halal food all over NYC and this is some of the best Ive ever had. And i got all that food for only $6!!!The chicken was sooooo flavorful and juicy. They gave mr extra veggies. I got the yellow rice but next time i want to try the spicy rice. And the white sauce was perfect. The owner, Mo, was very nice and Ill be back very soon!
I planned my NY trip just to try halal food.I tried halal guys yesterday and it was a total joke. Piece of junk.I doubt myself if I can find descent one in NY. And I tried adel’s halal after waiting one and a half hour. What I have in my mind after having this platter is that my trip seemed a total failure when I tried halal guys yesterday but today, it turned out to be a great success. They rock.Food is amazing fresh, spicy and so soft.I can not even imagine how to describe how satisfying experience it was.Just f#%k halal guys and go this place.God bless you.
GREATEST HALAL CART IN THE HISTORY OF NYC!!! And trust me I have eaten at a lot of them! Get the mixed with spicy rice with white hot and green sauce and don’t forget to ask for fries on top all for $10! The food is fresh and can be eaten the next day. Quality is high for a halal cart! I hope they never franchise like halal guys which is disgusting!
I am from Long Island, 42 years old . I drive and fly to this place for a reason since I was 17 years old. The chicken and lamb meat are second to none. The freshness and authenticity of this product is second to none. I now live in Colorado but whenever I am in town , I always make it a point to make ADELS a stop. My order rarely changes but I go with the chicken and lamb mix, with rice and a chopped up pita and white sauce platter. Professionals, if you are looking for authentic Halal , just go now…Mike-
Stood 45 mins in line for a rather rude person to take an order (was ignoring everything). Asked for extra white sauce multiple times, got very little.Rice flavor was good, falafel was fresh. But had very few veggies (only little bit of lettuce) compared to other famous carts that give onions, etc.The rude service, the lack of sauce, the lack of veggies will keep me away from this place. Too bad so many folks had talked up this place.
Adels Chicken over rice is the best in NYC. On a busy night, Ill be standing in line for about 30 to 45 minutes. I love the Chicken over yellow rice with pita bread, Broccoli,Carrots and extra white sauce. The food is cooked to perfection and for $8.00, you get a large portion that can feed two people. I tried the food from the Halal Guys a few blocks up on 6th Ave but they didnt pass the taste test. Their Chicken was dry and had no seasoning. Adels got them beat by a mile.
Hands down the best lamb gyro—or halal food of any sort—that I’ve had in New York, and I have tried more than my fair share. Besides Adel and his crew are quick, courteous, work hard, and just generally do everything you’d hope for from an establishment like this (does a cart count as an “establishment”?). Do yourself a favor, skip the more well-known guys on Sixth Avenue and go for these guys; spot them by the orange bags, signage, etc.—(as opposed to, say, yellow).
Best priced food in NYC & huge servings. No other Gyros compare whether you buy the chicken or lamb. You can feed a family of 5 for under $30 & that includes a tray of the best French fries I think Ive ever had & thats saying something! Youll be going back again & again, we did!
Mid-town NYC and Times Square area likely has more halal/middle-eastern food carts than downtown Cairo and I have tried several of them (in NYC, not in Cairo). However, make no mistake - Adels is the best by far.Meats are tender, flavorful and fresh and their white and spicy sauces bring out their flavors even more.I prefer their meats over rice instead of gyro because their flavorful rice complements the rice very well. Their portions are plentiful and price is just right. A perfect way to either get some to-go food for dinner earlier in the evening (they start at 6 I believe) or to end your night with amazing food after some bar hopping in mid-town.
The food was okay for me. I love spice. I cant eat food without spice. So, I had looked into what others are recommending. So, I bought chicken over spicy rice. But there was not 1% of spice in it. So, I was very disappointed after waiting for 45 min in the line 11 oclock at night.
Halal- food is delicious! 1st time in NYC and ate at this place three times. We had the chicken gyro - tons of meat, no extra needed for me, but it is available - and falafel sandwiches. Best taste & price for the money. Exceptional Customer service even at the end of a long night. Friendly, helpful & quick service (personality too). These guys are the best!
On street cart Halal food this is one of the best in the entire NYC. Alot better then Halal Guys. Clean and specially the platter with mixed veggies 😋 👌. I been working in NYC since 2016 and been in Food industry since 2000 even owns my own restaurant in NJ with all my experience i do recommend this place. You will not be disappointed
I first started off my halal food journey with The Halal Guys, and was a loyalist. However, I didnt understand how much of my time, money and taste buds I wasted when I first experienced this cart. They offer an option for spicy rice, they add pita into their platters which adds another dimension of flavor and texture while also adding falafel balls. This combination gives a better experience and the meat is cooked exceptionally well. The white sauce is also on par with their more famous neighbors, but in my opinion, this is the superior option in this part of the city. And the price? It remains a steady 7 dollars, which added to the quality, is what makes this worthy of more than just 5 stars. This is also, one of the two carts I am a fan of in the entire city. I cant wait to come back here.
Tasty food that’s a little above average for a gyro. The chicken, rice, and white sauce have a distinct taste from other cart’s gyros, which is great. The lamb has a good but common taste that I’ve tasted from other carts. Basically, it’s good but not worth the long wait (due to long line).
I used to love this place but their quality sucks now! The spicy rice isnt the same flavor and the chicken pieces are huge and not cooked properly. Always happens when you hype one place up. They always end up losing their flavor and touch. Wont be coming back here. Literally threw the food out.
This has a lot more flavor to it than halal-guys. Dont get me wrong, I enjoy food from halal-guys as well. However halal-guys is more towards the bland side. Adels is the place to go if youre looking for something more flavorful. Both chicken and lamb are delicious. They also accept credit cards. Would be visiting again
Seeing such a long line for a street food cart, we decided it must be good, so we waited for over 30 mins late on a Tuesday night. While waiting I read reviews to help decide what to order, chicken over rice with white sauce, which was good. Maybe I shouldve gotten the spicy rice for more flavor, but I played it safe. Definitely wouldnt hesitate to try more!
I’ve been coming to this cart for a few years now and absolutely love it! I just have one question though, ever since covid happened, why have you guys started working sooooooooo slow! Like pre-covid your service was fast and delicious where I would stand in lines multiples times in a day. But now, it’s so slow that when I drive by it, I have to think twice if I want to stand in line even when the line isn’t even long! Like 10 people in line would take abt 1 hour…I’m really curious, what changed?
The food was good and unique with little peices of vegetables in rice and salad. Had chicken over rice and was enjoyable. Wish pita was bigger and line was shorter. If youre in a rush dont go on Friday or Saturday night because line can be upward of 30 to 40 minutes wait time.
I keep coming here maybe like 4 times a week. Honestly the best halah food you will ever try!!..much better than halah guys in terms of richness and flavor and price. Yea it might look messy in the plate because all the flavor is jam packed inside. You pay for the taste not the look!. Either way I love coming here worth the line and wait!..food is amazing highly recommend for anyone whos new in New York!. Alot of locals come here..very nice staff...you wont be disappointed!!..👍...BTW the portions are big enough for 2 ppl
These guys operate extremely slow compared to halal truck standards, even if you arrive and theres only 7 people online you are still going to be there for a minimum of 25-30 minutes, also since they are somehow able to accept credit/debit cards in order to accommodate these millennial hipsters it makes the whole process even slower cause most these people do not pay in cash.
I waited nearly an hour for the food around 11 oclock at night. Was it worth it? I was hungry, yes. Is it worth an hour wait? No. Its great halal food nyc cart. Maybe the best, but not worth a crazy wait. The white sauce is home made and the good is fresh. You get a ton of food. Somehow my leftovers tastes even better the second day. I prefer kwik meal down the street. This place is a machine, a happening, a scene. At all times of the day
I have been coming to this place for over 8-10 years. This is by far the best platters I have ever had. I have recommended it to so many friends/family and they’re all hooked!!! We drive all the way from jersey every time for chicken over rice !! They have spicy and regular rice. I get a mix of both. So worth the price. They need a restaurant and an award! And the owner is super friendly!!
Good food but its always super busy. If you have 20+ people in front you, you might as well go for something else. Its not worth the hour plus wait. The service is the slowest Ive seen for an outdoor food cart. No need to waste time here if there is a big line. Avoid weekends. My suggestion would be to hire more staff to avoid the super slow service.
I prefer the taste of Adels over Halal Guys, but the wait here can be atrociously long. Prepare to wait >1 hour on peak demand time (8:00PM - 1:00AM), especially on the weekends from Thursday through Saturday.Im deducting a star because people in line are routinely allowed to order more than 4 orders, Ive seen people carry over 8 orders on one person before. This makes the line move extremely slowly, especially when you consider that Adels is not built to handle mass volume like Halal Guys is. Adels will have only 3 workers while Halal Guys has at least 8 workers during peak demand.
I think this place is overrated. I,ve tried many food carts in NYC and i would rate this place as an average gyro place. An hour and half of wait doesnt worth it. Food is not super good as i said it is on average side. You can try their food only if there is not a long line to wait and decide how do you like it. Thanks.
The best Ive had since halal guys quality dropped and price increased. Reminds me of the amazing unique flavor of chicken I tasted in Pakistan for some reason. Only issue was onions are made with the meat and I couldnt ask to separate it. Otherwise its top of my list now.
Tried this yesterday based on recommendations from family. Honesty, best Halal Ive had. Got the combo with yellow rice. For the price, I dont think theres a better bang for your buck anywhere in NYC, where foods concerned. Seasoned perfectly, cooked perfectly, and huge portions. Im craving it again already. And yes, its better than the Halal Guys, by miles.
Food- Delicious. They can make it spicy or not spicy for you (if you don’t like spicy ask for just white and no red)Lines- kinda long at times (but I can’t blame them because they’re just that good that they are worth waiting 5-15minutes for in comparison to other halal carts that have no wait.
Seeing a line at 10:30 pm for a food cart is always a great sign! After patiently waiting for 15 mins, I got my hands on a Mixed platter: Succulent chunks of lamb and shredded chicken on a bed of spicy rice, along side chopped pita bread and salad, covered in that iconic white sauce and a splash of hot sauce !I decided to try them on a whim. Being in the area, I had a taste for Halal, but had no interest in Halal Guys. (Theyre overrated, IMO). Very happy with my decision. Will certainly return! Well worth the wait; a bargain for the portion you get for the price!
Employees refused to confirm claim of halal food. Stated that they are unaware of the source of the meat and how it is processed. They also failed to show us any proof or certificate that may offer us some assurance. This is absolutely unacceptable for a businesses whose entire premise is based on the food being designated as halal. I also tried calling the number in the listing to no avail.
I know there are a million of these food trucks all over the city... but you have to eat from this cart!!!!! The rice they have two options and the spicy rice is out of this world with the mixed meat its soooo good! The chicken tastes like no other cart chicken out there!!Im sorry but this is the best halal food cart in the city!!! Point blank!
We came here one night and they made some great gyros! They were nice enough to give us some yummy hot sauce. When I accidentally put too much hot sauce, one of the guys working the stand (not sure if his name, oops!) offered to fix it and made it less spicy!!! Super nice and friendly! Will definitely recommend and will come back again! :)
I know the food tastes good, but the slowest moving line.People are cutting the line especially taxies and their connections. there were only 8 people in front of me, but waited for 43 minutes and still couldn’t get the food. I gave up when I saw more of their connections and taxies have arrived in front of the line again. Poor management and unprofessional. That one star means ZERO star.Never going back there.
I ordered chicken over rice . This is the best shot among the ones which I tried. To be honest, this is much more delicious than the original halal guys. My taste buds explored like anything. Every item is fresh and chicken is so tender like it just melted in my mouth. Sauces are must go with rice.
This food is the absolute BEST! No better Halal Food in NYC. I’ve been living here for years and I have always searched for the best street food you can find. I am confident that I found it. There’s no doubt, you need to stop at Adel’s cart and get some great food before you think about leaving NYC.
Way better than any of the cart food I have tried in New York. Certainly far superior than the Halal Guys at 53rd street. The food at Halal Guys is bland and without any flavor or spices. The food at Adels is aromatic, flavorful and spicy. They offer yellow rice and a spicy rice to choose from. Chicken and mutton both are tender and succulent. Their hot sauce is strong so be careful about how much you take. Most importantly, its cheap and freshly prepared in front of your eyes. Try the food here and might never go back to Halal Guys!!

2022-05-16This place had an insane line so we had to check it out! wait was around 30-45 minutes. once we got through and to the front of the line, it was quite hectic. theres no real menu at the front (just pictures on the side of the truck) so we asked people in the line what they got. so ordering was a little confusing but boy was the food delicious! a very generous portion of meat and a nice side of salad and pita. i would ask for more sauce next time because once the top layer was finished, there wasnt much sauce to go around for the meat sitting underneath. youre getting a great amount of food for $7-8. line may seem intimidating but it goes by fairly quick, food was definitely worth the line up and we can see it lives up to the hype!

2022-01-15I would give this place 10 stars. During our visit to NYC came to this place twice. Sometimes have to wait on the line but it moves pretty quickly and the wait is totally worth! Loved the falafel wrap and chicken over rice. Good spice level as someone who enjoys spicy food. Prices are good and get a good portion of food. Very filling. Can’t wait to come back!

2022-07-05You know that if there’s a line at 11pm, it’s gotta be good. And the line doesn’t lie. The guys working were fast and efficient. The chicken gyro was delicious. The chicken over rice was quite tasty and the same thing over the spicy rice makes it even better. The lamb gyro was good as well. Definitely worth the time standing in line.

2022-06-036 stars! Passed by this cart on the way to Halal Guys, saw the line and decided to take a chance. Rarely in life is risk rewarded so immediately and so abundantly. Its what Halal Guys was before they became a global fast food brand. Meat was juicy, spicy rice was as advertised, and food was hot and delicious. Never going back to HG now that Ive found the new King of Halal in NYC.Get the spicy rice and ask for the green sauce. Flavor explosion with the right amount of heat.

2022-07-02Excellent taste, huge portion (I am a big eater) and great price. Service attitude is good but long queue of 30 min even at midnight. Took internet advice in white and spicy sauce. Had it right there by the fountain. Added falafel but I feel it’s ordinary. Can pay by card. Will have it again when back to NYC. Told server I’m having there yet fully wrapped with plastic cover and plastic bag given. Maybe please consider for Mother Earth and let’s create less pollution? It save your business costs too.

2021-10-22As a long time New York City resident I think Ive pretty much had my fair share of cart halal food. Long/drunk nights and you need that something to help you out in a pinch, halal food will save you. Adels in my opinion is great! I went with a combo platter and everything was so well seasoned. Chicken and lamb were something else and the white sauce has that nice tang. Hot sauce lives up to the name but has a good nuanced flavor. Adels definitely has something that is missing from the guys up the block (if you know, you know). Would highly recommend to all and this is now my go to for halal when Im in the area.

2022-05-21Imo one of the best halal carts in nyc. the line may be long, but it’s worth the wait. the chicken is red which is uncommon in a good way, and their hot sauce isn’t that spicy compared to halal guys. they gave a good amount of chicken and the pita bread was a great side when you need to balance out the spice level.

2022-06-11I have been coming to Newyork since 2014 and Chicken over rice is one of my fav dishes. Another halal food Cart at 33St x broadway - IMO, they serve the best COR (Chicken over rice), and then I came across Halal guys on 6th avenue- that became my fav cart, and now heres the boss of middle east food cart- ADELs. Never tasted better COR than Adels. Located right at Radiocity junction- you cant miss it.Chopped pita, yellow rice- superbly grilled chicken pieces- lettuce- white sauce and spicy tangy red sauce - Woww!! its just amazing. Ask for more white sauce when you order.Lamb over rice- cant say the same but their signature item COR - its just great.Nowadays, if you go there in peak time- there is 30 min to an hour waiting and I think the Owner should work on how to serve better, but hey, I do wait for their COR cause you just cant miss it.They dont have a specific menu, I guess chicken over rice-lamb over rice: they call it platter, each $8, and then gyros ($7). they accept cards.if you wanna have middle east halal food- Go for Adels.
