Overpriced tourist trap. If you like paying for 5 dollar bags of chips, and 3 dollar drinks, knock yourself out, this place is ridiculously out of the way, and the cashier was rude to boot. I gotta add, not having ice to buy when the weather has been in the 90s...not cool. Literally.
The sheer ambiance of the shop with all of its knick knacks and basic needs for tourists in the area combined with an excellent breakfast menu and seating makes this a real gem in the area. Its off the well trodden path and really gives ones a sense of a throw back to the adirondack of old. I highly recommend even just browsing and stopping by.
So friendly and helpful in coordinating a dinner with friends for “Galentines Day”. Great service and a nice touch with flowers and chocolate covered strawberries for each of us! Very special evening.

This is a great little spot hidden on the east side of Schroon Lake. A very charming store with daily breakfast and sandwiches along with lots of charming regional gifts. Theres a grocery and mini hardware section so you dont need to go far for basic necessities.
This place is just the cutest! I love going in there to look at all the different stuff + they have some yummy food as well.
Redecorated for the 2018 season, the General Store is a Haven of sophistication and respite from the wilds surrounding it. In the community of Adirondack, the food and gifts from the mountains are celebrated along with Lodge and Lake culture. Enjoy fine coffees, delicious soups, fresh sandwiches, and browsing for souvenirs and decor items for your home or camp. And dont forget you Superman underroos, to take advantage of the classic phone booth just across the street, for a photo of or as a topic of discussion among friends and family. Post it to Facebook, people love those candids!
We got our lunch here it was close to the Adirondack pines bed and breakfast and it was great! Food and prices where great! The store has a little something for everyone!
Friendly staff, smell of fresh baked goods filled the facility, all your last minute essentials or souvenirs plus small restaurant/cafe. A must visit every time we are in the area

Traditional yearly stop on vacation near Schroon Lake. In business since the 1800s. Cafe, treats and coffee, souvenirs of the ADK park.

2021-07-09New ownership has breathed new life to this all-in-one store/restaurant/gift shop. One can purchase ones daily grocery needs or relax and enjoy a delicious, substantial, and freshly cooked meal. Service is both efficient and attentive. This is a must see at the heart of Adirondack.

2020-11-02Go back in time here, this is such a great place. A little bit of everything, as a General Store should be. Wonderful staff, excellent food, and even beer & wine. Pot Belly Stove as you enter, just the right spot on a fall day. If youre around the Schroon Lake area highly recommend the Rueben!

2017-08-06What a gem! Great old building. Neat as a pin inside. Great selection of merchandise. Fantastic food and service. Even a deli counter and a cooler featuring Oscars meats. Just up the hill from Schroon Lake. Stop in for breakfast or lunch - or just to browse.

2020-08-08The Adirondack general store is your basic tiny lake community one stop shopping store. We rent a cabin a short distance from the store so over the past five years weve gone there many times. This year the store has new management which seems to be more focused and enthusiastic. They offer more dining options there. They have always had lunch but now theyre having some dinners. There is a window on the outside of the store where you can get hamburgers, hot dogs, and ice cream. We had the takeout a couple of times and were very happy.

2020-07-05Everything about this place is great, the food comes quick and hot and the store is always clean. They have a wide selection of beer from the basic to local selections also. Also have plenty for the kids and decent souvenirs along with the basic groceries!

2016-11-09You will receive really delightful food, both in taste & presentation. Its a cozy place to go especially in the winter time because their wood stove is running. Plus most of all, the owners are warm & friendly. Its a place that you should not miss if youre in the area.

2019-05-26Just stopped to grab a sandwich, ordered a Roast beef on a roll with Russian dressing.The sandwich was sufficient but the Roast beef was over cooked and under seasoned.There are other items I would like to try,so another trip is warranted.Plenty of other things to to see and buy.New owners are trying a lot of new things.
