Not worth it at all. We started with the shrimp cocktail and it had 3 prawns for $15. I mean, at least give us an even number so sharing isnt awkward! I got the crabcake BLT because it sounded interesting...it wasnt; it was small, with the whole sandwich smashed on the griddle with bacon on it that had obviously been sitting around awhile. My girlfriend got the taco salad, and the tortilla bowl was old and chewy. Our waitress disappeared at the end of the meal, so we had to hunt someone else down to pay.I know Alex Bay is a tourist trap, but go anywhere else but here.
Service was good. Nice patio area. One star because the food was from the discount store frozen aisle and they had the balls to charge me $40!! We had a fish square sandwich of unknown origin and fried shrimp that were so small and breaded so heavily you couldnt find the shrimp. Terrible. Would rather eat at Long John Silvers for the rest of my life!
Went in for seafood, everything was overpriced. 3 shrimp for 15.99? I understand it’s a tourist area but come on? Service was okay friendly didn’t ask how our food was when we ate none of it and clearly didn’t seem into it. Calm chowder was pretty much water hard potatoes and some carrots. We respectfully paid for our soup and left with out ordering dinner.
Very dissatisfied with the mediocre quality of the food and indifferent, rude service. My clam chowder, although hot, had uncooked potatoes and lots of sand in each meaty bite. Had scallops & rice pilaf..rubbery/nuked..? My friends fish dinner had no flavor and was dried out. Looked like frozen food. Left it. Server didnt ask if there was a problem. Salad was no better than salad in a bag. Server and hostess were obviously bored and snippy. $50 was a rip off for blah food and sad service. Dont waste your hard earned money in this tourist trap.
Came here for the sole purpose of ordering their grilled cheese (with bacon) as I had heard so much about it from family. It was delicious. What I didnt know was that it is only on the lunch menu, but they were more than willing to make it for us once the kitchen confirmed they could. We sat outside on one of the hottest days (July 6th). While we definitely werent chilled by any means, there is enough airflow with the fans to keep comfortable.
Love Love Love the staff here!!! All you fellow parents that have a child with a severe food allergy...this place will serve you!!!! We have struggled finding places for my daughter to eat in Alex Bay due to her peanut allergy. Many places have turned her away!! They were willing to serve us and did it so graciously. Thank you so much for making my daughters day!!!!
I can understand crazy pricing, they have a short season but we had 6 people for lunchShrimp scamp, inedibleShrimp salad, sameFish and chips, same x2Turkey club so so x 24 sodas, 2 watersCheck $ 173.00Beware a hefty tip must be includedI would rather starve than go there againDon’t mind payong extra for quality
This eatery in downtown Alexandria Bay offers you everything that is good when dining out. The place is cozy, the people are very friendly & courteous, the food prepared by Master chef Jerry is extremely tasty. The portions are always very generous as well. Do yourself a favor & skip every other resturant & just GO THERE!!!
I ordered a rib eye with a salad and baked potato. My wife had the fish fry with a side of pasta. This was the first time in almost 20 years I have sent back my food. The steak had a funky smell tasted like rotten garbage. The potato taked like it was cook week ago and reheated a few times. I sent it back and got the fettuccine alfredo. I get undercooked noodles and some watery white sauce that had no flavor. Sorry for $63 for my bill the owners should be ashamed. Our waitress was nice until I sent my food back. After that we only saw her for our bill.
There are no gourmet restaurants in the area but the food here is good and the service is good too. We have eaten here many times and its always enjoyable. Eat on the porch and watch the tourists pass by or eat inside for a old fashion dining room feeling. If youre interested in the history of the building or the area ask the bartender. He is very knowledgeable and interesting.
This was our first time in Alexandria Bay (May 2017) and Admiral Inn was a great dining experience. We had steak and fish. The food was very tasty and prices were reasonable. Service was excellent and staff was friendly. The restaurant decor is comfortable and the outside seating is equally inviting. Highly recommend Admiral Inn!
Did the special prime rib very disappointing meat had no flavor, salad tasted and looked like salad in a bag that was old. Was over a $100.00 for 2 adults and one child. If the food was good it would of been worth it . Great staff and service but they need a visit from Hells kitchen ... Do yourself a favor. Drive 30 mins south to Watertown and go to Longhorn or any other restaurant on Aresenal street.
Went there this past weekend with some family. Ordered the fried walleye which cost over $20.00 and only got one filet which was less than 5. I complained and they said I would get another filet. What I was given was a filet of white fish they tried to pass off as walleye instead. Two of the kids got their meal 15 minutes after everyone else did. It was only pasta and meatball, which means they forgot to even cook two meals. Save your self some money and eat dinner somewhere else. Dont go here and be disappointed.
Always like to stop here when Im in town. Food is decent and the patio seating offers views of the street like no other. However, the service was chaotic and the servers disappeared for huge chunks of time leaving us to actually go find them. I understand that bike weekend is usually high demand but they always seemed to be under prepared every single year.
First time visiting there. And the Food I ordered the captains special fruit salad the fruit was huge pineapple that had the core. The lettuce had black spots on it the dressing was nasty. So I politely asked to just have a blt cuz u cant mess those up. The waitress came back to retrieve dishes she asked about nothing no dessert anything else ladies no have a nice day. As someone who works in the food industry that was absolutely the worst ever!!!!!!!! Someone should really fix and help them.
Food was okay and thats being generous, service was average. No refills were offered for soda, management should let the staff do this instead of selling desserts the way they do. Really wouldnt recommend choosing this place in Alexandria Bay unless you had no other options.
The restaurant was not busy when we went for dinner but we still waited forever to be seated and for our orders to be taken, even though there were 5 service staff standing around talking with each other. I ordered a Caesar salad in a tortilla bowl. $17.99 for a stale tortilla bowl full of wilted lettuce & croutons (nothing else in the salad). Thought they might take a couple of bucks off since I didnt want the chicken that was included in the salad (Im vegetarian). I was informed they dont do that there. Terrible food, terrible service, steep prices. Skip this place if youre in A Bay.
Not the best food in Alexandria Bay. The service was definitely lacking, even by New York standards. Overall, my family didnt leave hungry but I left with a much thinner wallet. Ill not return for poor service and food not much better than whats available at most truck stop cafes.
Went here after a day of sight seeing. Took a look at the menu outside a saw crabcakes and definitely wanted to try it out. Ended up ordering wings, chicken parmigiano, and crab cake.Crab cakes came out and looked like a large brown meatball that was cut in half. It was payed on a bed of chopped lettuce. I frowned and rolled my eye feeling like this is gonna be bad. But to my surprise, was really really good. Big chunks of meat and seemed fresh and not from frozen. The salad help compliment the ricoh cakes.Wings were just fried and battered and cooked well, really nothing to complain or compliment, except there were no flavors you could add to the wings, like bbq, hot , mild etc. But we just wanted plain wings anyways. The chicken parmigiano came with soup which was good to start with: creamy potato soup was OK. The angel hair spaghetti we decided to try it with alfredo sauce, and really, it was awful. Watered down, tasteless, and just unappetizing. Must not be home made, but what can I expect from a place like this, they must not get many people ordering pasta, EXCEPT there is a sign that says Italian Specialties. :)For desert we chose to have a key lime pie. It was good, not super lime flavour, but good enough tartness for us. Was happy to end the meal here.Service was good, Amber was helpful and checked on us often. I received free refills and there was no pressure to finish up and kick us out.We came here for the crab cakes, and really that was the best part. The rest of the food was average as to be expected with the current reviews.
Chose Admirals Inn because had Vegetarian Delight in bold letters on menu. Daughter was thrilled! Never has many options. There was ground beef in sauce!! Unfortunately she discovered it after eating 1/2 of it. Manager, Barb, rudely asked my daughter if she ordered a meatball & was she a vegan? Of course she didnt order a meatball! And the issue was meat in a vegetarian dish!! She didnt even offer an apology, or anything even after explaining how ill this would make my daughter & we had to tell her to take my daughters meal off the check. After 7 years of no meat, my daughter was violently ill that night & all the next day of our nice family vacation weekend.
Save your money! A table of 6 on a Saturday night on the weekend after July 4th; one would think theyd be at top form.......Not Even Close! Salmon special...had to pick bones out of the undersized portion. Turkey dinner...looks like they heated up an expired Hungry Man dinner. Calamari appetizer...clearly heated up from a frozen bag purchased at a local dollar store. Feticunni alfredo...sauce may have been on sale at discount super market. The place itself looks nice but the food is sub par at best. Go anywhere else and dont submit yourself to this very overpriced torture.

2021-08-17The cocktails and food was good. We ordered margarita, piña colada, soup and salad. Everything was tasty. The hostess, young girl was grumpy.. would’ve been nice to see a smile on her face. But our waiter was great.

2020-08-06Tl:Dr Nothing is better, as in actually not eating at all would have been a better choice than this. Until they get a new menu and source their food from a better distributer it would be more wise to just give your money to the staff and walk away.Staff and service were friendly and eager to help, in fact they made the experience pleasant.Atmosphere and setting of restaurant gave off the impression it would be like a standard tourist seafood restaurant, especially given the price range of $12-18 per entree. However, the food quantity and quality, also known as the entire purpose of a restaurant, was deplorable. Pictured below is the entree Cobb salad, which was ordered to be eaten as an appetizer. I raised my eyebrows in shock when our innocent waitress delivered it and when she saw my face she apologized, knowing full well that it was not worth the $14 charge, had the salad been better labeled or more reasonable priced I would not have been disappointed.BUT the disappointment didnt end there. I ordered the fish and chips (emphasis on the quotes to denote the skepticism of what meat it really was) and what was delivered appeared to be recently flash-fried fish hot pockets. I never knew fish came in the form of a rhombus until this meal (sarcasm). The fries were a pleasant distraction from the gray flesh underneath the machine-manufactured omega-3s.My wife was enticed by the attractively named item Boldt Castle Crabcake BLT yet just like the hopes of Mr. Boldt in his search for satisfying his wife, she too was left in the position of devastating disappointment. Forcing herself to eat the cafeteria-style sandwich that cost more than 5 gallons of gas (and the gasoline would have been more worth it as well), I offered to try a bite. The item known as crab cake was actually a flaky cardboard-esk substance with hints of imitation crab, or perhaps it was simply last years crab cake that was frozen and left over, then microwaved and slopped on. Well never know because well never come back to find out...What this place needs to get better: if you are the owner or manager, you must improve your pricing and quality of the food you are serving. Your location and staff are proof you can offer a pleasant dining experience, so now it is your responsibility to find a better distributer and fix your menu. I recommend scraping the Americana food because you can get the same stuff everywhere and focus on what your atmosphere promotes: seafood. People wont hesitate to order a $23 seafood platter with fish, shrimp and calamari and fries, and theyll be happy about it too, that is, if you dont serve the hot pockets ever again. And to you the regular reader who has made it this far, thanks for reading. If youre already there and its too late to back out, get your drink on and maybe the lack of sobriety will numb the pain of the gastronomic experience to come.

2019-08-03Listen, youre going to pay way too much for your food here. You dont eat here bc of the food, you eat here bc its convenient or you just got off a boat tour. That being said, my open faced Turkey sandwhich was REALLY good. And my wife was decently pleased with her fish & chips. The atmosphere was nice, Service was good, and we ate outside in the summer sun. Except for the prices, we were pleased!

2021-06-08It was a wonderful experience we had never been there before. Joanne who brought us our drinks when we first arrived and seated at our booth outside was very nice pleasant lady. Our waitress Barbara she was a sweetheart also she did not hover about she stopped and ask us if we needed anything more. We shared a bit about ourselves with each other it was very nice to have such a wonderful waitress and the lady that brought the drinks. I would highly recommend the admirals Inn to all of my friends and shall do so. Would that all restaurants had such wonderful people working for them that were kind considerate friendly etc.

2020-08-17Food was very disappointing based on the prices & quality. Broccoli was frozen. Prime Rib was blah. Busboy soaked the table and benches with disinfectant and then we sat in wetness. Busboy and hostess were inappropriately touching each other through our entire meal. (Multiple tables saw it and were pointing it out). There are many other decent places to eat in A Bay... Avoid this place, you will be happy that you did. They get two stars because of the waitress service (very good) and cute decorations in the restaurant.

2020-07-17The service was quick and friendly, the salads my wife and I ordered fresh, served in fresh tortilla bowls. Clean bathroom. The prices were higher than average for the food provided for no discernible reason. Prices were lower for comparable food within a few blocks. The exceptionally clean bathrooms and friendly service may be worth stopping for despite the bizarrely high prices.

2021-05-29Despite having multiple open empty tables, the young waitress sneered at me and told me they were far too busy to deal with a single customer right now and could I please look elsewhere. Dont worry, I will never return to or recommend your establishment ever again.Definitely dont visit if youre disabled.
