I have a 2013 Kia Sorento and I needed a new key fob. The Kia dealership told me it would take an hour to program and they couldn’t program it until next week. Moving to a new house is stressful along with all of the associated tasks that need to be completed. Security is very important to my husband and I, so naturally, replacing our locks was first priority since we had no idea who had copies of our key after the house was on the market for a while. I had the most amazing experience. Ash helped me. I had an emergency at 3am, I was locked out of my car with my keys in there in my bag. We called Pop A Lock, who actually scratched up the side of my driver’s door. He claimed my lock was impossible to push in and unlock. After fiddling for about twenty minutes he gave up and told me to call a locksmith. I called Ash at Advanced Lock on Staten Island. Not only was he incredibly kind and willing to help me in my situation- he drove over right away in ten minutes, and got the lock open in a few seconds. He explained how unnecessary what the tech at Pop a Lock did, and showed me a professional service. Now I have his card and will come to him for any auto service related issues. This locksmith is fantastic. Ash responded to my home within 30 minutes from my call. He diagnosed the problem for a very complicated and expensive 20 year old Baldwin lock. He was able to track down the parts and had them shipped overnight. He retuned the next day and not only did he instal the part, he also adjusted the entire door frame. Had a appointment at at advance lock and key at 8:30 this morning. I got there about 8am to have my key made for my mom’s car. Had trouble with 2006 nissan altima ...could not turn ignition key to start car . reviewed videos on line hoping to find an answer . no luck no solution . called nissan which was not much help ... called advance lock spoke to ash hoping he may have a solution . Yesteryear I visited Advance Lock and Key with regularity - I worked at South Beach Psychiatric Center as a provider of housing for people in recovery from serious and persistent mental illness. That translates to placing people in apartments. And that means getting keys made. Keys that work the first time they are cut. Tom King stamps his name on every key - yet, Ive never had to return one. That includes the giant skeleton keys we used to use at SBPC on our locked units. No matter how obscure the key Tom has always come through. I left South Beach PC in 1990 - but never forgot Tom. And so when I recently bought a Royal Enfield motorcycle I knew that only one locksmith on the Island could make the key and get it right on the first iteration. And he did. In fact, he was genuinely excited by the challenge. Locksmithing may not seem an art form to most but it is to Tom King. This man, who worked for nothing for two years as an apprentice and who, years later, rebuilt his business after his shop was leveled by Hurricane Sandy, is a master of his craft. Called Advance Lock at 9:20am because we could not open the door from outside the Baldwin handle was broke. Ash asked me to send a picture of my door handle to his cell phone so he knew what parts to bring and was at my house 20 minutes later. Mind you it’s snowing out. Ash was very professional and extremely pleasant and honest, he fixed my door handle in no time. I have always used Advance to have keys made but this was the first time I needed a service at my home. I wouldn’t use any other locksmith. Definitely recommend them.

Ash was professional, reliable, and fair with his prices. We needed out lock fixed ASAP due to a potential fire hazard and he came the next day. Within 10 minutes he diagnosed the issue with the existing lock, explained the cause of the problem, and came up with an efficient solution. After getting ripped off and an expensive Mortis lock damaged by another fly by night “locksmith” I went to Advanced and they fixed the lock at less than half the price of the other so called internet locksmith. Can’t go wrong with a local licensed professional that cares about his community and the people they serve. That’s what you get at Advanced. 53 years in business tells you something. Can’t thank them enough.

Ash is the best! He went above and beyond what I would expect from a business owner. He came over on short notice to see if I can install a lock on a PVC door. His advice was to call a fencing company since he didnt think it was a good idea for him to drill holes due to possible integrity interference of the material. It was refreshing to hear such an honest opinion, especially since it meant he wasnt going to make any money. Obviously, that was not his biggest concern. He cared more about safety and ensuring the job would be done right than just making money. I wish more business owners were like him!!!

I love this place. I have had to use the service a few times for a few different things. Once my husband lost our only car key, Ashe replaced it for us quickly efficiently and much less money than a dealership. Once it was done he made me a copy. He’s changed the batteries in my keyfobs several times. He’s also made copies of all my keys so we never have these issues again. Honest. Low priced and efficient. I recommend to everyone BEFORE there’s an emergency.

What every business should strive to be - honest, fair and super helpful. A lock I bought at Home Depot 5 years ago broke and instead of charging me $ I was recommended to reach out to manufacturer to get a lock cylinder replaced for free since this is a common problem. I did exactly that and received replacement parts overnight. They were also super helpful with rekeying an old Yale lock i brought in. I wish more businesses maintained this type of customer service and integrity. A+++
This company deserves more than 5 stars!!! I lost my push start car keys and with everything going in I was so afraid my car was parked unlocked for almost 2 days. I called around a few places to get a quote and was discouraged how pricey it was. But then I called Advance Lock & Key And spoke to Ash who not only gave me a great deal on replacing my key but he also made it his business to come to me on the same day despite his schedule being tight and he would be working after office hours. I would recommend this company to anyone. They are an honest company truly working for the people! When I called other places they did not ask for much information or vehicle identification and that worried me a bit. Ash was direct about his business he needed all vehicle identification and proof of ownership before coming out to open the vehicle and guaranteed an original key for our vehicle. Highly recommend!! I spoke with Ash this morning about changing the lock on my house, he was very informative, professional, helpful, and kind. He gave me all of the information I needed and gave me advice on the lock. It turns out I did not need to change the whole system like I had originally thought. Although he could have easily done it and charged me 500+ (it’s a very specific and tough lock lol) he instead suggested I do something else so that he did not need to replace the entire thing and charge me all that money! Highly recommend this locksmith for all of your home and vehicle needs. My key fob was damaged due to pandemic sterilizing 4 or 5 times a day and fell apart. Ash from Advance Lock and Key came to assess my entire office floor so that we could rekey all of our existing locks and replace with new locks and a master key system. He ordered the parts quickly and came back to the office within a week to install. He was efficient, helpful, and provided everything we needed. He also added labels to all of the keys for us so that it would be easy to keep track of what key opened what door.

Ash came to my house to rekey the lock on my front door. Do I recommend him for the prompt service ticket prices and expert workmanship? No. I recommend him for his honesty. I was so happy that he came to my house to do this work that I asked him to replace my garage door lock. I would’ve had him do it no matter the cost because I liked his work and trusted him. But Ash assessed this lock and said I didn’t need a new lock at all. He did a little trouble shooting and told me what needed to be done to correct the situation. No cost. Walked me through what documents I needed to send him to proceed the right way. Expedited truck key so I can get back on the road. Remote and key worked perfectly. Ash did a great job on my front door. I wasnt just concerned about break ins but I also had a concern that if I ever trusted someone with my key (like a girlfriend) but later took the key back, that a copy could have been made prior to the key being returned. Ash explained to me that the Multi-lock comes with a card which copies could not legally be made without. This was the perfect lock for me, and Ash installed it within minutes. I am very happy with the job he did, and would recommend him and his company to anyone.

I needed immediate help and I went to the location at Hylan Blvd. where I was greeted and welcomed by the gentleman Ash Wechsler handling the store at the time. So i was trying to get a spare key made for my 88 BMW and most of the places on the Island didnt want to even try because the OEM spare blank keys i had was a little pricey. I originally went in to advance lock and key because I thought they were a store that I visited previously a few months ago . At that other place I bought a new remote for my Chevy 2012 impala . The battery on said remotes died and I couldn’t get the new battery that I installed myself to work . So under the belief that advance lock and key was that place I went to I realized I was in the wrong store . Regardless as soon as I walk in I am greeted by nothing more than great service and professional ethics by the owner Ash. I was then helped by receiving information about why my remote wasn’t working and I purchase a new battery . The remote worked immediately the gentleman professional even went out to the car to test it several times . I am really happy with this experience and by his service . I definitely will be going back for any other future purchases . I recommend this business to anyone who is tired of poor service and are looking for not only a good professional but also good people skills . Most people want to sell u things these people want to sell u smiles.
About three weeks ago, I was in need to get my locks changed at my house. So I walked in, and ask them how much it would cost me to change the whole lock, and it turns out it costs 200 dollars to change per lock. The clerk asks me its quite expensive, and was there something wrong with the lock that causes me to replace the entire thing. I told him no, I am simply looking to change the key components to the lock, basically I want to change the keys to my house. The clerk told me then I dont need to buy the whole lock, just a portion of it, which saved me half of what it cost to replace the entire lock on each door!I asked for their price range, and how much it would cost me to change the parts on front and back door, I was very satisfy with their rates. I told the clerk that I was in a rush and I need the work to be done quickly. He contacted Ashley, one of the owners of the shop and he happens to be close by. Had me bought the parts with me and met him at the house. It took less than 15 minutes for him to complete the task and he was extremely friendly and helpful through the process. I cant ask for a better locksmith and was more than pleasantly surprise at their exceptional fast and reliable services. I will definitely revisit them again in the future if there were problems with my locks again. It was truly an amazing experience and I would recommend their services to anyone who ever has a lock problem :)
I came here a few weeks back to make a couple of copies of my keys. Until now, they have been doing me very well. Not only is the quality of the keys amazing, but the customer service was absolutely outstanding. Ash greeted me politely as soon as I walked in, as if I were his friend, and made small talk with me during my short time there. He was very friendly, made me feel super welcome, and he really appreciated my business. Definitely going back soon!

Ash the owner is so wonderful. He went out of his way to make car remotes for both my cars. He spent so much time with me picking out different keys for my children and I for all my different locks. I gave advance lock and key five stars because of the terrific job Ash had performed. He arrived when he said he would and he removed the old lock and installed the new one within minutes. Anything to do with locks and keys, you should always go to a trusted source. I called and heard Ash not only give me a reasonable rate, but he let me know he’s in the business for a long time and he felt like family. I first went to a different locksmith to copy a key for my new used car. The first locksmith sold me a key that opened the car door, but wouldnt start the ignition, and told to me that I would need to purchase a key with a chip in order to start the car.I then went to Ash to purchase a key with a chip. Ash looked at my copied key and explained that my key didnt need a chip, it just had been copied super badly by the first locksmith. Within 5 minutes he had a new, functional key for me at a great price.Thank you Ash!

The day before my trip, I lose the spare key for my car. Not feeling safe traveling with just one key, I headed to the locksmiths. I called 3 locksmiths and Advance Lock and Key came in with the lowest price by far. Ash took very good care of me, he took me right away, cut the key then went to the car to program the remote. I was in and out in 20 minutes. Will recommend highly.
