Affinity by Molina Healthcare in other cities:
Affinity charged me $26,400. annually for insurance for their top Platinum-plan. I had a heart attack and went to the nearest In-Network emergency room hospital. Affinity only paid the hospital $72 for the $15,000 visit. Affinity had the hospital charge me the remaining $14,928 bill because affinity says the hospital did not get a pre-authorization for the emergency room visit and the policy I signed states that I will pay the in-network Affinity hospital any money not paid by Affinity.Had I not had Affinity insurance, I would have been out $15k. But because of the games and tricks Affinity used to defraud me, I have paid Affinity for two years and the hospital bill a total of $67,728.Do not trust Affinity. They are in the business to bill as much as possible and make money. They are not in the business of providing insurance at the rate of $72 as I went to the emergency room hospital they told me visit.Affinity has their $26400 annual money and only had to pay $72 in return. They are crooks, not insurance providers. That is NOT insurance!!!
That 1 Star is a farce, just like this insurance. No stats at all!! Waiting for an approval for a much needed procedure from May 15,2018 and it’s August!!! Customer service, medical management are rude and definitely don’t know how to do their job. They even give my providers the run around! I wouldn’t recommend this insurance company to anyone!!! And don’t bother with the contact us page either...no one ever gets back to you!Next step Dept of Health and the BBB
There is no way to find a doctor, none of the doctors on their lists are accessible, a majority of them are in-patient doctors in Local Hospitals and NPs - Nurses, or pediatrics, but there is no way to filter them out. When you call the doctors/numbers on the lists, the receptionists informed me that I was calling a hospital and these are not private doctors who make appointments, no doctor by that name was at that location, or the numbers and locations were out of service or incorrect. Its been a nightmare, and I feel shafted. I am guessing there was a minimum amount of Doctors which they had to have listed to be a legitimate Health Care company and they just added anyone and everyone. You will wait over an hour on hold to get in touch with anyone, and when they finally get on the phone, they will immediately tell you, you need to speak with someone else and transfer you back to the main menu where you have to go through all of your favorite inputting of ID etc. I wish I could report these people to the Better Business Bureau. It is a giant scam.
Affinity is the worst health care company. I was refused much needed medical attention at a urgent care center this weekend because of a computer error that i was reported to affinity over a year ago. when the medical center ran my id # (@ the affinity health plan web site), my status came up as inactive. the customer service office was closed on saturday but i did happen to reach a young man @ an aftercare line. he took my info, acknowleged i was infact active with affinity, but then quit rudly refused to relate this to the staff @ the urgent care office. In a nasty tone he informed me that i would he helped on monday. its now monday afternoon. not only am i still ill, but have gotten worse over the weekend. i am disabled and suffered a bad fall yesterday due to my untreated vertigo. i will be making a report the dept. of health at the very least. the most affinity would to for me was to relate to the medical center that i am indeed covered and active when the called just a short time ago. they refused to show me any compation or consideration. for this reason i am going
Affinity Is the worst Insurance Company ever. They treat customers with very little respect and are extremely unorganized/unprofessional. If you do not want the hassel of keeping receipts and chasing different representives I advise you to look else where, I will never recommend business with Affinity even to an enemy. They feel that only low class, low income people have their insurance and should be treated differently(what I heard for a manager). Just Poor service.
They have multiple issues with delivery of service, specifically they admit to problems with missing and late delivery of member handbooks, ID cards and provider directories. This discourages and makes it very difficult, if not impossible to use the insurance. The online provider directories are blatantly false, with crazy addresses and numbers, especially for the yearly womens health care services that do not fall under the deductible. For example, my gyn is listed, but grotesquely the number connects to the MorganStanley Childrens Hospital, and there are other false addresses and numbers. The most recent (July) response by Affinity is that they will attempt to correct some of these mistakes.I would like to crowd source an audit of their directory to make sure they are adhering to their promise to the AG office to audit their provider directory. I would encourage you all to take a page or two at random from the NYC GYN providers list and verify the information. If there are inaccuracies in number, address or status of insurance, I would ask you to report to the AG Health Care Bureau or NYStateof Health. This is insurance we are paying for, and ladies (and you men that support, respect and love your woman, mothers and sisters), you know that yearly pelvic exams and testing is vital for our health. The womens health care provider directory should accurately represent what is available to us so we are not discouraged or delayed from using our free womens health checkups.
My experience today was excellent. The Supervisor, Daniel Coman, helped me and showed me how to make a payment for my health insurance over the phone. It was easy applying with Boury at their 3rd Ave office, she is very helpful. My family is happy! Deysi is great too, as she helped in the past
So far its crappy, I am paying extra for more coverage, that doesnt have anyone in network for my particular plan...why the coverage if you dont have anyone? UGH. I know its impossible to give zero stars, but could we get a 1/2 star option? cause I am starting to regret picking Affinity.
The worst insurance company. Im paying for dental insurance and Im told by dentalquest that I am not active in the system. Ive been on the phone with Affinity and dentalquest for the past 3 weeks and NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT. Nobody seems to have an answer, nobody can fix the situation. Do not, do not enroll in Affinity, save yourself a migrane
As i walk down to the office 2500 halsey st. I walk a lonely block, commerce street. my daughter and I see a silver color Honda Pilot parked with a man and lady inside and the lady is undress!! we walk away fast and go to the office and later when we wait to be seen we see that very same woman inside affinity working! my god almighty! we walked out and went elsewhere the next day! I will not go there. and they are all rude people when I try to tell them about it and they laugh.
I thought that Id save some money going with a 2nd tier plan. Well you get what you pay for, although in Affinitys case you get less. Expect poor service, an inaccurate roster & hassles about getting treatment approvedIf you can afford it, pay a little more; after all, its the health of you & your family.
I work for the local DSS and called to ask a question about a Medicaid client. I waited on hold 35 minutes then the rep picked up and hung up me within ten seconds. I think if you call and follow the prompts saying you have Medicaid they stick you on a long wait. Thirty five minutes on hold and then to cut someone off? Disgusting.
This insurance company is terrible. They are absoloutely everything you dont want in a insurance company. Youre better off having no insurance then signing up to this crap. Unreliable and they take a very long time to respond because they couldnt care less. They wont even cover the most simple things.
Anything that you need they will deny. I need glasses for my eyes but apparently I cant see the doctor no matter what before 24 months if I am not diabetic or something. Need something for my teeth, they no longer cover that procedure. I realized that you just have to actually need something and they will deny it.
AWFUL INSURANCE!!! Not even worth 1 star...no provider support whatsoever. I dont even know why they have provider reps in the first place when they dont even help to resolve any issues!! they ignore emails and telephone messages!!! SHAME OF YOU!!!!! WE WILL BE TERMINATING OUR CONTRACT AND ADVISING OUR PATIENTS NOT TO JOIN WITH YOU!!!!
I had problem in the names on my affinity cards, actually middle name of me and my three sons were not written on the cards, the first and last name of my three sons was same the only difference was only their middle names.i tried my best to make it correct i called to help line so many time, they responce me that you will recieve your corrected card within 15days when ever i recieved new cards they were always incorrected, this happened four times i have number of card.after having again and again effort i visited the main office at 2500 halsay street bronx and showed all the cards.they make their photo copies and told me go and wait for 15 days new corrected card will reach you,but after 15 day i again recieve un corrected card then again i visited main office and told them the whole histry, now i dont know what to do.can any one help me.
Great company when i worked for about 10 years, but they need to clean up and get some characters especially in the offices, they are not doing their jobs very well, those are the hidding everything from the big bosses such as CO.thats why is falling a part, what a shame,we all miss Maura Bluestone
Terrible experience, they stopped my auto payments why i dont know and never notified me.. then didnt notify me my insurance was cancelled, so i missed the enrollment period this year for 2016 and they wont let me sign back up with them, and i dont qualify to sign up with anyone else... every time you call they try to transfer you to someone else after being on hold for 40 minutes.. avoid at all costs

2022-05-12I have been trying to fill a prescription for 6 months and have given up. Never had this issue before Molina was involved. Call customer service numerous times and was informed the problem is resolved. I even received a letter in the mail a month later saying the script was approve . When my pharmacy tries to fill it they get rejected. Called customer service again and transferred to another section, they transfer me back to CS. I am then hung up on. I receive a message from CS to call them about important information on my prescription, when I call back the said they are not sure why I received the call. I can not wait to switch plans. Worst customer service I have ever dealt with.

2022-06-23They are the worst insurance ever. Since March I have been trying to get my GMS. Pharmacy denied it and DME approved it by doing an override and I still have not gotten the device to monitor my condition. I can’t wait until the year is up to switch insurance. It is true ever since Molina merged with Affinity the quality of service has gone down and I’m sure lots of members are have left and more will be leaving. They deny everything. Every month is a new medication not being covered.

2022-06-20This has been the worst health insurance I have dealt with. My own doctors advise me to switch to another insurance. I strongly recommend to stay away from Affinity. They dont pay the doctors in full & stay stuck with a massive medical bill & unless you pay you cant see the doctor..

2019-11-04I usually have a fairly good experience with with Affinity Health Plan. Im having an issue with my pharmacy because Im a restricted member due to my medications. I left 3 to 4 messages for Marsha who is in charge of restricted plan members, instead of returning my call to explain my situation or just simply saying it takes 24 to 48 hours to change your pharmacy. Marsha relayed messages on what to through her co-workers and when I asked to speak to her I got shes busy or she stated this isnt her first time changing pharmacies. I like Affinity Health Plan but I may have to leave.

2016-01-09They are robbing people!I went into Affinity Health Plan last year to apply and I got Obama Care with a monthly premium of almost $300.00. I have not gotten sick yet but it is a year later and I am suppose to be renewing and still have not gotten a Member Card. I called the New York State of Health and they took my complaint seriously and helped me switch to Metro Plus. I have notified everyone I know not to apply with Affinity. They are absolutely robbing people!

2016-06-14Let me explain how if there was a rating below 1 thats what I would give. MY WARNING TO ALL DONT USE OR APPLY FOR THIS INSURANCE COMPANY. THEIR THE ABSOLUTE WORST COMPANY. Im a single mother of 2 young children and I had major knee surgery. I have been denied several times physical therapy. NO ONE AT THIS PATHETIC PLACE CAN EXPLAIN WHY...... I cant help my children. Ive been denied a nurse Ive been denied my medicine in which I need. Dont waste your time with them. No one will return your calls no one is polite. They hang up when you ask too many questions. DONT RISK YOUR HEALTH WITH THEM. IM FILING A LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM.

2015-12-28This is the worst insurance company ever-no account history online, and even the reps dont know anything when you call customer service. the wait time for a rep is always over 30 minutes and when they finally answer, they dont have any idea about what is going on with anything. e mailing is no better. they just tell you to call them. no explanation of benefits are mailed out either.whatever you do, do not sign up with this very poorly run company. you have been warned.

2016-01-27From the owner: Response from the owner2 weeks agoWe welcome the opportunity to help our members with any concerns they may have. If you are an Affinity member please call our Customer Service Department toll free at xxxxxxxxxx. We are here to help you.I have been on hold with this same Customer Service Department toll free number for 18 minutes, told that there was a 7 minute wait three times so far, and asked to enter my Provider ID 3 times and offered the opportunity to fax information to a fax machine - six times so far. There are opportunities to find out about services since October 2015, claims already requested, and new claims. I have accepted the opportunity to wait for a care management team member. To no avail. How are patients expected to reach Customer Service?24 minutes in, I reached Lance G who offered to transfer me to CVS Caremark. I pointed out that the letter I received advised to call Affinity - at the same number they list as Customer Service and that this was not reassuring. I had already called CVS Caremark before embarking on this odyssey. 26 minutes in, I am transferred to another office. At Affinity. The phone number apparently can be given by the owner but not the reviewer (me). Its the same as responded to the other reviews. Google required editing it out.

2018-08-23Affinity Health plan lacks quality of service for their customers. This includes customers who have a plan through the marketplace. Many providers refuse to work with Affinity, because of the lack of timely services and payments. I have experienced this with an authorized out of network provider. Affinity customer service via phone is poor for both members and providers. They struggle to provide accrurate information and each customer service representative provides different information often resulting in inadequate service and lapse of services due to payments. If a provider is not being paid for their service it is is hard to continue to provide services despite authorization.Upon speaking to multiple reps you will realize that each one finds a new reason as to why something has gone wrong often referencing an error on the provider or the vendor. Affinity lacks ownership of their services and the lack of.There are some employees who go above and beyond to provide service however, they’re caught in the rafts of a system that does not connect with poor communication and notes.Affinity struggles to process claims, handle billing correctly, provide ontime responses to medical necessities. The wait times exceeds 30 minutes to an hour or more by phone or in person. The eastchester location also lacks service I have sat there for 2 hours 30mins and there has been no solution to anything.Things are done and they take excessively long which impacts the services and medical care of their members. The vendors they use are also lacking which creates a hassle for things such as: behavioral supports, therapies, andI advise each and every person reading this to not choose affinity as a health care carrier. There have to be other options which can serve you and your medic needs. It’s my hope that none of you have to experience what I have had to experience with this insurance provider

2014-05-16My experience was wonderful. I changed my childrens plan from Metroplus to Affinity Health Plan 3 months ago because I heard great things from my friends. I came in to apply for Obamacare for myself, as well. I was helped when I arrived to apply for health insurance at the 2831 3rd Avenue office in the Bronx. My children now have Affinity Health Plan and so will I after my application goes through the process. When I needed to change my childrens dentist, they assisted me with no hassle. Thank you very much for all your help.
