Very helpful waitresses, extremely welcoming when I walked in the first time. The restaurant is contemporary and very warm. Again the staff is very attentive. The sushi was really good. I tried two special rolls and I was not disappointed. Eight big pieces in each full of fresh fish. It tastes like the sushi chefs have modified the standard sauces and they were very good in the special rolls.I also tried my favorite staple when ever I get sushi, Salmon Skin hand roll with cucumber and eel sauce. This did disappoint me. It came out warm which I like but the salmon skin was a little soggy. The eel sauce was also modifies and was spicy and smokey. It was a good attempt to modify a classic but for me I didnt enjoy the texture or flavor. For the three rolls without drinks the bill was $38.00 not cheap as indicated by Google reviews.Overall I did have a good experience and would come back, maybe just stick to the special rolls next time.
Its happy hour all day at Ageha Sushi! 50% off sake, beer, and cocktails from Monday through Thursday (might even be Friday too, but I came on a Wednesday so I dont really remember).I ordered a Dynamite Roll (tuna, salmon, avocado, spicy crab meat and tobiko on the top) and a regular tuna roll. Both were fine - your standard takeout-quality sushi. BF had the Salmon Lover (four pieces of sushi, eight pieces of sashimi and one spicy crunchy salmon roll) and he loved it. But its probably just because hes a salmon fiend.Dont expect amazing quality sushi. Do expect pretty good sushi for the price you pay, cheap drinks, and good service.Tip - we found out after the fact that Ageha had 10% on the Groupon cash back deals so make sure you claim this before you pay!
Visiting in town and came across this sushi house. Yelp looked good so gave it a try, have to say hands down all the food we had was amazing! 7 different appetizers and all phenomenal! I will definitely be back. Also the service was impeccable, attention to detail was world class. This place should train for hospitality, they known what theyre doing. Will be back, thank you!
Went last night and ordered take out. I ordered sushi, fried rice, and chicken teriyaki. I was told twice that everything was in the bag. When I got home, the sushi was not in the bag. I tried calling twice and then went back to the restaurant to find out they are closed. Google said they closed at 12 AM. Overall, very disappointed and food was not that good.
Just right around the corner from the expensive sushi comes alive this cozy little place of delicious sushi. Great service. There was an ingredient missing to make one of our drinks and the staff sent someone to the store to get it. My usual experience is we are out of this not a quick run to the store.
Food was very good. I was skeptical at first because my food came out so fast. But I had the Hawaii roll, my wife had a combo roll A, daughters had fried rice and calamari and no complaints. The staff was friendly and attentive with the restaurant half full or more.Highly recommend
I usually stay away from sushi restaurants for two reasons. First, theyre usually really expensive. Second, when sushi is affordable, that usually means the fish isnt fresh (no thank you). I was pleasantly surprised to find that Ageha Sushi uses super fresh fish and the prices are totally within my range for even a weekday night out with friends. I ordered the Viking roll (which was very fresh) and I also loved the crispy Peking duck wraps (perfectly crispy - it sort of felt like I was eating duck candy). Also, I was happy with the portion sizes. If Im paying for a meal I want to leave full, and this isnt one of those sushi places that leaves you hungry for more. Ageha really pays attention to the presentation of their dishes and it totally shows. I like my food to look good, and they definitely delivered on that front. I thought the service was great and very friendly. Overall this was a great experience.
Second time I ordered delivery from here and second time was disappointed. Barely eatable. It seems like people have better experience when they order at the restaurant itself not the delivery. It also arrived extremely quick within ten minutes like it was sitting there waiting to be ordered lol...pretty odd
I went here for a lunch on a weekday. Service was very friendly. Portions are huge! Sushi was fresh. I enjoyed the meal with my student. It was not conducive for a super quick lunch (had about 20-minutes) though, not to the fault of the restaurant or service. Easy spot to walk to from the C train.
Staff was really kind!!! Food was amazing!!! My friends and I were already having a bad experience at empanada mama (which was 2 doors down), they couldn’t accommodate 10 people (even though we made a reservation a week before) and we were crushed by the terrible customer service there. Then we saw this little sushi place and they basically save the day for us! We couldn’t be more grateful and had such a wonderful time. The staff was so patience and the food was super delicious! Can’t wait to come back again!! Thank you for the lovely experience!
Decent sushi, but pick up order was a little sloppy, though made available quickly. 10% off all online orders is awesome, but the discount is realistically saving slightly more than the sales tax. Prices for okay sushi in Manhattan are pretty high, but understandable for the location. I had two decent roll combinations so I might return to try the other sets/food. As a minor note, I elected the no plastic utensils option on online ordering and noted that the restaurant still gave me plastic spoons. The restaurant itself is pretty comfortable and clean. Service was decent, but the restaurant wasnt very crowded. In the sashimi deluxe, the raw fish was not very flavorful.
There were so many great things about that place. A lot of the food is delicious and the names of the foods are great (Lady Gaga Roll). The menu is great too, there are nice pictures. The only thing I didnt like was that there were fish eggs/caviar on everything which is a sticky, gross mess. But overall the place was great. They also do great delivery.
Service was fine, but the sashimi was absolute garbage. One type was old and dry on the side that they had left it out on, one rule had so many bones and scales in it, the tuna was super fishy, I paid for my meal and left without finishing. Here’s to hoping I’m not gonna vomit my brains out tomorrow. They really need better sushi chefs.
First off, I live in an area populated ans dominated by upper level sushi restaurants. The food here is good, the grilled squid is on poi t, yeah just missing that nnmph to be perfect. The rolls are nice and well prepared. Service is good but not outstanding. Overall good for lunch.
Food Quality: Good quality, they alternate orders when you ask.Service: Great. They are okay, I usually have to get their attention.Payment: they accept almost all forms of payment.Price: lunch special $12-15 total, depending on what youre getting.Accessibility: entrance is only accessible when you ask, which defeats the purpose if youre in a wheelchair and cant go in to ask. Bathroom is not accessible.Note: this was my go-to spot for five years when I worked around the area. Delivery expects tip.
I came here for a birthday dinner with a group of 11 people. The staff here were very accommodating with the large party and making our experience here great. We ordered a couple of appetizers, entrees, sushi rolls, and sashimi platters. They all came out really fast and tasted very fresh. Also, we brought a birthday cake and were very helpful in preparing it for us. I will be definitely be here for another large group dinner.
Went here with friends - food was good but not amazing in our opinions. Mainly leaving a review to commend them on excellent service. I have a sesame allergy, which is naturally really hard to accommodate at a sushi restaurant, but our server was very conscientious and meticulous in checking ingredients for me. Ive had bad experiences elsewhere so this was a standout for me.
The space is nice and welcoming. The front desk people are friendly and the menu is vast. Unfortunately, our server became annoyed because we asked for salt and hot sauce when the food came out bland. You could see the annoyance on her face. First of all the food is overpriced compared to the rest around the same area, so if it is also not as tasty, why would we not ask for extra items? To top it off, its the holidays so for the front desk girl to be so cheery and spirited and not the waiter, made her seem even more negative. I dont think Ill be back there again.
This place is horrific. I used to order and go here all the time but the quality of the fish went downhill fast. It is bad quality fish in which you can taste as well as feel afterwards... Also if you have an allergy to anything this is not the place to go. They are careless about allergies. They made my order over twice and the third time I still found the thing I was allergic to in my food. Their prices may be reasonable but I rather pay for good quality food than what ever kind of sushi you call this.
I love Ageha! Definitely one of the best sushi places in Hells Kitchen. Its always crowded because its so good (so I recommend a reservation). Service is amazing and surprisingly quick considering how busy it is every time I go but theyre professionals here! Highly recommend if youre looking for good sushi.
Nothing special about the food. Bubbles in the bubble tea were hard and bubble tea was too watery. Sushi was just about okay. We also hot pineapple fried rice which was fine. The only good thing here was the miso soup. Definitely there are tons of better Japanese/Sushi places in the city.
Without a doubt 5 delicious Stars. Checks all the boxes for an ideal Sushi Excursion. Not only are the pieces gorgeous and creative the intimate setting on the west side is exactly the size and Vibe I look for.. One would think the prices would be much higher for this excellent combination of quality and Aesthetics but its not. To boot I believe theres a daily happy hour on the drinks where there either half-price or a BOGO or something of the sort. Possibly not on the weekends.
Ok. Not great.Ordered on Seamless for take-out. When I arrived to the restaurant about 15 minutes later, it was very clear that they missed my order, and didnt have it ready. The hostess quickly recovered, and had me out the door in what seemed like 5 minutes, max! On the service front, they couldnt have performed better. The sushi, on the other hand, is where they lose stars. I ordered the sushi regular. The cuts on the roll and the sushi were very large, but very sloppy, and clearly rushed (for obvious reasons). In general it was all very meh. There were a few pieces that I dont feel tasted very fresh. I stopped eating, and gave most of it away - $20 down the drain. At least the miso soup was good!
By far the best sushi on 9th avenue, the selection and prices are good and the flavors are fantastic, I would highly recommend the deep fried sushi in particular. the service is good and attentive and the 4 different dishes make for a great meal for 2. I would also recommend the beef rolled sushi.
Today, 8.17.2018 this restaurant is irritating. Today, this service is very bad. I found one thing to send the restaurant vegetable chef to the door. They didn’t help the store to open the door. They were still standing there and ran out and sent. The owner of the goods said why please ask for a hand, and almost broke the door, but also let the guests pass by to help open the door. Why did you stick to the disabled sign on the door? Is your store designed for disabled people? I knew that I took the photo and showed it to everyone to see what waiter the shop owner asked!
So many things to say about this place. Quite good and quick placing a reservation. Food and sushi is decent a 3 out of 5. Atmosphere is 4 out of 5, could use a bit more lighting in many areas of the restaurant. Drinks however are watery and nonflavorful a 2 out of 5. Customer service was a 3 out of 5. Cleanliness is a 4 out of 5. Some fruit flies flying around.
I dont like leaving poor reviews unless I think places are a complete rip off. This place was okay. I will never come back, but it was okay. My group ordered a wide range of food here, and not a single dish, side dish, appetizer would any of us consider good. It was average at best. Again Im not going to give one star unless the place should not exist, but of the 15 different items we tried, every one was disappointing. Nothing got finished except the miso soup. And that was the first thing we were given. We are usually human garbage disposals and finish every bite. We left hungry. I hope this place finds its groove. Maybe we went on a bad night. But I doubt it
I highly recommend this place. Let me first start off by saying , yes they are a little pricey. However, the food is flavorful! Although I ordered “pick up-take out,” and everything was packed WELL, I’d prefer to sit in next time because my Fried Cheescake, YES FRIED CHEESECAKE’s fried batter got most but it was still good (I kind of came late to pick it up). Will be getting this again. Oh yeah and they’re super friendly & I hope this doesn’t change.
We ate here at noon, so we ordered lunch from a business menu (which really has great options!). We took some rolls, an app with fresh tuna (from a regular menu). When they served us the tuna, it was colder than it should have been. So the fish are not fresh or maybe just some, thats why the place got 3 starts. But! Considirng that it was a good chunk of tuna, and overall you get a decent sushi for cheap price. So you can definetely stop here for lunch :)
My favorite local spot! Trust me: you cannot find better!Fresh fishCreative menuCheap cocktails$2 beer during the weekTry the miso eggplant and the tuna pizzaSalad: get the mango salmon saladPrices are very reasonable and quality always perfectHuge selection of rolls and sushis as well as cooked food
Hawaii Roll was great. Happy Mango Roll was missing soybean seaweed; when I asked for seaweed, server tried to argue something about pepper (jalapeno?). Service was really bad. I read all those reviews about bad service for this place, and I thought to myself — how bad could it really be?! My expectations were definitely exceeded! When it says they close at 23:00, they literally get you out ASAP well before 23:00, and lock the doors at 22:55 from the outside, deserting the whole place before the official closing time! They grabbed my signed credit card slip before I could grab a picture for reimbursement. They could only give itemised receipt with words not paid or with paid by visa (when I paid with AmEx) and an incomplete total (without the tip that youve paid — maybe tips arent even expected here?!). They did all of this whilst arguing that its all the same! Who prints itemised receipts with not paid?! Ive never seen any restaurants do that!I arrived at 22:18, they were supposed to be open until 23:00 on Sunday, but they seemed to indicate they close in 15 minutes only a few minutes after Ive arrived and was seated, and locked the door the minute I stepped out at about 22:55.
Ageha is my neighborhood sushi go to. Its basically across the street and spacious enough to never warrant a wait. Their happy hour sake and beer is a deal for my bf, but I lean towards liquors and find their cocktails to be lackluster. I stick to the sushi, which you can find the usual and the creative. One of my favorite concoctions is their yummy pizza, which is a crisp yet chewy pancake topped with spicy tuna, avocado, spicy mayo, fish roe and crunchies. Its not the best of sushi but you could do far worse than Ageha.
Sushi was just ok. Terrible terrible food and TERRIBLE service. Server didn’t come over for 15 minutes after we sat down and forgot multiple things we ordered. Then, she never checked on us throughout the meal. The duck was disgusting and tasted like dog meat. We sent it back. The woman lied to the manager and said we ate it all and refused to take it off the check. Go eat somewhere else.
Ageha is the perfect place for your 30 minute lunch break. It offers a reasonably priced lunch special with a nice assortment of rolls to satisfy the common sushi lover. My only complaint is that the food flys out the kitchen, which isnt always a bad thing. However, when the waitress is playing bumper cars with your miso soup and salmon avocado roll you begin to feel a little rushed. Idea, re brand make it a NASCAR themed sushi place, lets tackle that niche market . Pioneer Baby!
THIEVES!!Ordered takeout from here and the delivery man STOLE MY PHONE. After 2 hours of looking for the phone, got a notification that my phone was found on 9th ave between 51st and 52nd. The exact location of Ageha Sushi.Went down to Ageha and demanded to see the delivery man. After much deliberation - the phone all of a sudden appears from the back! They stole my phone... and then, to top it off... didn’t even give me a refund on my food that I no longer wanted to eat bc their employee stole my personal property!TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES!!!
Had the gyozas and tonkotsu ramen and both were delicious! The gyozas were crispy yet chewy and full of flavor. The ramen... wow! The broth was so rich and flavorful and there were plenty of noodles! It was like we ordered extra noodles! The hard-boiled egg was definitely hard-boiled and is the only thing I would work on improving. I’m used to the soft-boiled egg with ramen dishes.
OmgWhat a bad food, service and environment. Food was cooked in a wrong way, cold and no fresh. It was the restroom busy almost for all time that we have stayed there, it was because a weirdo was masturbating himself until the police show up and took him out. Please don’t go.
Not sure what the hurry was, but came in with a friend and after we had finished our meal we felt like the staff kept pushing us to pay and leave despite we were still willing to order drinks... this would have been fine if the place was full, but at the time we went it was full of empty tables 🤔

2021-12-15Delicious fresh sushi (we got the sashimi deluxe, special roll, and chicken teriyaki). Portions were great bang for buck, everything was delicious, the chicken was awesome too thank you. My favorite was the white tuna, almost creamy.

2022-06-24I dont normally give reviews but this place had some of the best service I have had in NYC. Eric, our server, acted as if we were eating in the finest 5-star high-end restaurant in the city. I didnt expect that. I have found my new sushi place.

2018-03-22Went in for the lunch special and was pleasantly surprised with the options available. I went for rolls, but there are bento, sushi, sashimi, and specials for two. It came promptly and was accompanied with salad and soup which is a nice touch, you usually have to choose. The presentation is nice and it tastes even better. It is fresh and has a good flavor. I also ordered the bubble tea which wasnt as good, the tea itself was good, there was far too much ice and all the bubbles were chalky on the inside which really detracts from the point of having bubble tea. The service is good and it is not loud, allowing for pleasant conversation. You are able to see the menu online which is a nice touch, and you are also able to place orders for delivery. I would definitely go back!

2019-05-08Delicious. The ramen and hibachi steak were fantastic. The fried rice I ordered tasted off and kind of seafood-y but otherwise no issues. The slushy and boba (bubble) tea were tasty too!

2017-10-28Came on a Saturday afternoon for the lunch special. Great food. Quantity and quality both good. Service was good. Walked here from the Fordham dorms. Price was a great value for the city. If youre really hungry, go for the Bento box.
