I have 3 favorite Mexican restaurants and this is one of them but whoever takes care of the takeout orders really needs to be more careful because 4 out of 4 times that Ive done a take out order there have been missing items from my order. Sometimes its a whole meal and sometimes its just the salsa that goes with the tortilla chips but regardless Id really like to receive my whole order.
Life in the Elmwood Village is better with Aguacates Mexican Restaurant. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is fun with a ton of friendly people and the staff from the bartenders to the waitstaff really make you feel like you are part of the family. I 100% recommend the food and the atmosphere. Ill see you there! :)
This was my first experience at Aguacates and I will definitely be going back.. the Margaritas were delicious. The Bartender, Tim, was awesome. The good was delicious. I tried the tri burrito (I may have the wrong name but its steak, chicken and carnitas) ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! I will most definitely go back again.
Yum! We stopped here for lunch and the food was delicious! The service was quick and super friendly! Prices are just as great. Love the free salsa and corn chips as well. The food came out really fast and quality was not compromised. Full bar with margaritas, a few beers on tap and by the bottle. Bon appetit!!!
Service was great. Place was not very crowded when we went in. They had a good selection of food and alcohol. We tried the queso fundido, chimichangas, and some tacos. Portions were generous but the food was pretty bland. I had the feeling that they focused more on being a bar than a restaurant.
We ended up there by default, the place we meant to go to wasnt open for dine-in. It was very good. Staff was friendly, except no one seemed to know if we needed to pay for parking on a Sunday! Might be good info to have for customers! Husband loved the salsa. Entrees were delicious and good portions. The guacamole was super fresh and flavorful- big points with me. Would go back if we find ourselves in the area again!
Came here to watch Mexico play Korea in the World Cup. The food was really great. We got burritos, beer, margaritas, and chips. Wow, were the burritos good! I just got a regular lime margarita and it was alright. I might recommend trying their premium instead. But it was still good. They have 2 TVs and a projector which was really nice to watch the game on. Its a small enough place to allow for good visibility anywhere.tl;dr Great place for food and drinks!
So happy another Mexican restaurant replaced Agave after it closed. Went to Aguacates for the first time since it opened and was very impressed! Sat outside on the patio and enjoyed a cold Pacifico. Our meals were delicious! I would definitely recommend the fajita quesadilla (pictured below)! We will definitely be frequent customers here!
One of the better Mexican food establishments... I never had a bad time here. Music can be too loud at times for a conversational dinner but food, beverages and customer service makes up for it. They also have a few (I may have counted 4) TVs in there to make it a football Sunday spot. FYI, the Sante Fe burrito is life.
Every bite of our food was outstanding. The chips and salsa were some of the best we’ve had. Drinks are huge and reasonably priced. The portions were enormous! We had enough for dinner the next day. The service was very attentive and friendly. My only complaint was the volume of the music. I realize that makes me sound like I’m 100 years old, but the server and I were shouting at each other to be heard (especially confusing with masks on) and resorted to pointing to menu items. Conversation was not easy with music so loud.
Retired guy at a younger crowd place. Both the hostess and waitress treated me kindly. The crowd noise and music were a bit above my usual liking but not intolerable. Forgot my dishs name, 3 enchiladas with a salad and spiced rice was excellent. With a drink + tip was just over $20. Quite repeatable. 4.5 *s
Moved from CA, this is the only Mexican Place so far that even comes close to CA Mexican food. Tortilla used for burritos could be better, and the burritos could be wrapped better. Otherwise, the taste is reminiscent of the good life I left behind.Update: 2022-01-08You don’t cook avocado! Who tf heats up avocado?
Really bad customer service, we drove from Canada side to have a Dinner here, we called the restaurant 30minuts before to come in to confirm if the restaurant is-open to dine in and they said yes, we will be open till 10’pm, when we arrived the guy in the bar was very rude with us, he told us: the restaurant now is close because he decided to close the restaurant early, we don’t like his attitude with us I never come back again there, We lost time to come there. Very very bad experience here.
The restaurant was busy tonight and it appeao they they also had a healthy take out business. The only complaint that I had was that the food took a long time to come out. Otherwise everything was great. I had a veggie burrito which was good and my wife had tacos AL pastor. She said she wanted more pineape in her tacos but otherwise they were good. Minor things to work on bit otherwise great!
First and late time going there. We went to pick up our food, and someone else had picked it up. So we waited for them to remake it. It took them over an hour, and when we got it, it was missing part of our order. When I went to tell the hostess about it, she flipped out. She doesnt do orders, too many people were in the hall waiting, she was gonna get shut down, and she needed help. It was pretty dramatic..I understand it is Cinco de Mayo and we are in the middle of a pandemic, but she could have used some better custom service. Anyway, we got the food home, now obviously cold and it wasnt flavor full. Might have been an off night , but it isnt somewhere Id get food from again.
Our first time visiting. Shrimp soup was delicious and definitely a meal on its own. Texas fajitas were good and enough for 2 of us to share. Tamale temp could have been warmer however, Jane immediately offered to have remade. Janes service was awesome and we enjoyed her personality very much. Maria was knowledgeable of the different Tequilas. She also was pleasant. We had the pleasure of meeting Nicole before we left. Great service all around. We will return for sure!
I had a great meal there food was phenomenal I had the carne asada tacos. The bartender was extremely friendly it was fast and great service I didnt have to wait at all for food or drinks. Want to give one more shout out to the bartender Noel I believe his name was he was awesome. 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
I’m a creature of habit, and have always gone with chicken and/or cheese Enchiladas Verdes. Aguacates is consistently good. They always hit the spot. Every once in a while they have a rough day which I’m attributing to being short staffed. I finally broke out of my habit and tried the Tacos a la Diabla. Omg. So good. On corn shells with some melted cheese 🤤
The staff are so nice and the bartender is GREAT! But most importantly, the food is ALWAYS good. Wednesdays they have buy one get on margaritas which is always a good time. Ive tried just about everything on the menu and havent had an issue yet. Definitely a great place to go to in Elmwood Village.
Really good food! Free refills, and free chips and salsa at the beginning of the meal. The customer service is unbeatable. There was a slight mix up with my meal that could have happened anywhere, and they gave not only me, but my husband and all of our friends our meals for free! Highly recommend this place!
Nice little place on the Elmwood strip. Food was very good. Moderatly priced and the staff, very friendly. They have a LARGE selection of Tequila, including some very high end bottles and our waitress was quite knowledgeable on the various brands and styles. I was in HEAVEN!!
This was the first place my husband and I ever went to when we first moved here and they were awesome and kind. Weve gone back multiple times since and the quality is consistently really great. Honestly they have the best carnitas Ive had a restaurant. My mother in law is from Mexico so my husband can be picky about Mexican restaurants, and he loves it here.
I enjoyed the veggie burrito and replaced the cheese sauce on top with their regular burrito sauce and let me tell you , I was not disappointed!!! It was huge and so filling and delicious. I also really liked the variety of vegetables they used in the burrito. And don’t forget about their chips and salsa and amazing margaritas! Definitely would recommend
I placed a phone order and was told it would be 15 minutes. It was actually 40 minutes. And my food was cold. No remnants of heat. You would think that with restaurants supposedly suffering during the pandemic, they would have better service to encourage repeat customers. Wont be wasting my time or money there again.
Me and my husband went and ordered pick up around 9 pm last night, paid around $30+ for a main dish and an appetizer, got home and saw the mess. When we opened the the box, it looked half empty. It was like we got the scraps of the night, it was so bare. The chicken we got was underseasoned, the salsa was bland, and the quesadilla appetizer we got looked like someone dumped a whole tub of sour cream and sauce in the tub. The quesadilla it self was no bigger than the chips we got on the side.I hate being this person to bad write reviews because I give businesses the benefit of the doubt, but this place was terrible. The only good this was the customer service skills.
Love it here! The shrimp and fish tacos are SO DELICIOUS and the rice that comes on the side. This is a great place to hang out with friends, order drinks and just chill. Theres free chips and salsa. I love to order a side of guacamole too (it tastes so fresh and I love it). They have good priced drinks as well. Their strawberry margaritas, regular or frozen, are great and well made, not too strong but not too weak. I recommend this place if youre looking for a nice chill spot to go to with good food and drinks.
The food was great and so was my Aguacate margarita....BUT. they did NOT have ANY HEAT on in the place and everyone was FREEZING! We all had to keep on our coats just make it bearable and several customers walked out after coming in and realizing just how COLD it was inside!!! I like the place but this was a very STUPID thing for them to do.
Getting two burritos to go took 30 minutes. it was 2/10 as far as burritos go. I would say Chipotle is is infinitely better than this place. Shame since I really like supporting local restaurants during the pandemic. I got violently sick afterwards.. didnt even think you can get sick from a chicken burrito. NEVER going here again
Have only gone here one time, but I am sure to go back. The staff are close knit and extremely friendly and service oriented. The dinner starts with a generous basket of tortilla chips with mini carafe of spicy tasty salsa. I had the quesdadilla fajitas and they were delicious. They were served hot and came along with a healthy portion of rice and some delicious refried beans. The prices are very reasonable as well.I plan to return again some time soon. It was a very pleasant dining experience.
Went on Cinco de Mayo, which was obviously going to a busy day. Had to wait outside with about 20 other people and finally got in to give my phone number by 6:45 when my food was supposed to be ready at 6:00. I went home because I live close by and got a call just after 7:30. While normally this is a crazy wait, I dont blame the staff (although they should have had more people working on 5 de mayo) because they were hustling to get people their food and their attitudes were good. They were doing the best they could, and the food was still good. I think the Doordash and Grubhub orders were overwhelming on a day like today. Some people were clearly frustrated but the staff handled it really well.
The service here is truly terrible. The waitress was unapologetic about a hair in my food and acted resentful when I asked for a soda refill. Do not expect your food in a reasonable time even if the restaurant is half empty. Every time we asked for something she acted like we were a burden and made us wait an absurd amount of time. When she came back she’d say she forgot it. Fajitas were bland and we never got the salsa or hot sauce we asked for.
This place can be crowded wild and hopping. It is a sporty looking Mexican Bar and Grill. This place is really going for a more contemporary feel with the lighting and layout then a rustic cantina feel. Either way you will have a fun night if you go here. Grab a shot of Tequila!!!!
Ive been here twice now and havent been disappointed with the food at all. There is a small hassle of parking on Elmwood, but if you go at the right time its really not that bad. Its also usually full - its a small restaurant and not room for many tables- so expect a wait. This second time we were able to get a table outside, which is always worth waiting for.
Worse mexican Ive ever had. Worse meal and experience Ive had in a restaurant in a while. Waitress was awful. Chicken was the texture of something that was left in a microwave to heat up and then forgotten about. I would have sent back but I just wanted to get out of there bc the customers were annoying and the place was understaffed. Maybe its better during down hours or if youre there more for drinks bc I was really suprised to see a lot of good reviews on here with how bad of an experience it was
The complimentary sweet tea was hot and sweet. It was very relaxing and got right to ones core. The lamb koftah is a must have, but request how much youd like it done. The default on this dish is very well done, so I would recommend upfront specifications on doneness. I guess this applies to all of the dishes.
It’s unfortunate that the food here is good because the staff is some of the most unorganized, unhelpful, and impolite I’ve ever come across in the industry. I have ordered from them multiple times with various disappointing outcomes- cold food, waiting hours for orders to be made, missing orders, orders sent with the wrong person- and all with inexcusably rude and dismissive attitude from both staff and management. At first I thought it was a fluke but it has continued to happen without fail. Spare yourself the trouble of trying to have a simple exchange with this staff who cannot seem to conduct themselves with basic industry etiquette and order from another restaurant.
The food had gone downhill since it was Agave. I still go often because of the patio, but something is wrong each and everyone I go. Last time I was impressed that I received my package pepper in 5 minutes. The reason was they were pre-fried and served unwarmed from the fridge. Ugh. I frequently have to get up to ask for beverage, silverware, etc from a staff who is busy chit-chatting.
This place sucked. Sat down and waited 20minutes with servers just passing by back and forth. Couldnt get a drink order in until we got up and asked one of the servers to come to our table. The table next to us waited even longer. Not even authentic Mexican food just a bunch of hipsters with their best attempt at Mexican food.
Went there with the family, we got sat. About a minute later they sat someone next to me, they took their drink order, brought them out right away and got them chips, we were ignored the whole time. Needless to say we left and went to El Agave in Cheektowaga where they always make you feel at home and the service is impeccable. I will not waste my time again at Aguacates.
I got a burger that was literally just beef and cheese (I guess I just assumed there would be more) and it gave me a stomach ache. My boyfriend got a quesadilla that was soggy on the bottom which is a sign that it was sitting in the window too long. Im no Gordon Ramsay but the whole meal was bland
Me and Holly went there for dinner last night it was happy 32nd anniversary Exxon I would never thought did that little Mexican restaurant would have that good of food anybody up cuz it hasnt had it needs to try it its really good its probably more than bitter places that weve been to visit much Mexican restaurants around this one is was worth the trip downtown and have us has off-street parking

2021-10-13Like this place, the food is good, authentic Mexican, good margaritas, but I was annoyed that they wont allow customers to use the WiFi. Why not? I was hoping to get a little work done while I was waiting for dinner. Im rating 4 stars anyway, but come on guys, whats up with that?!

2021-05-21The food here is delicious. One of the best Mexican restaurants Ive eaten at here in Western NY. The service is also excellent. Food is fairly priced and worth every penny. The pictures are of the pineapple fajitas and the chimichanga dinner. Did I mention the food is delicious 😋

2022-03-18Loved the decor, and the flan was the best ever! The main course was really bad. Worst ever. Would have returned it had I not been someones guest. Even the chips and salsa were bad. Double fried chips or old oil. Would go back for the flan dessert and fun decor though. Flan 5 stars, food 1 star.

2022-04-30Location is great and convenient. The food, in all honesty, is more on the plain side and doesn’t have much of a kick to it. The frozen margarita was great! What really bothered us was the slow and at times condescending service

2022-03-22By no means was the food here bad, and maybe its EXACTLY what you want in Mexican food. I just thought it was ok. Not a place Ill go out of my way to eat at, but if someone else wants to eat there, Ill go. My niece, however, loves it. I will say the server we had was great, super friendly, didnt hover but was always around. The staff, in general, seemed pretty good.

2021-10-10We got great customer service. The drinks were good. The food took more then a hour to come out and they were not busy. The food was not worth it, very plain.
