While looking to rent a car at JFK for a week, I was looking at both prices & reviews, Alamo did the best in both categories when I looked. Besides a 10-15 min wait in line to actually talk to someone, they had me on my way quickly to a car after looking up my reservation. When I went outside, they didn’t have a standard car ready like I reserved and offered me a SUV. I preferred a standard sized car and asked if they could get one. He told me to wait and less than 5 minutes later he pulled up a car to the front for me with no hassle.A week later upon return, they had me on my way 60 seconds after pulling in with no changes to the price I got online when I reserved. If I need to rent a car here again, I’ll be going with Alamo.
From the access road,the entrance signage is confusing,for customers arriving by taxicab to ALAMO Car Rental at JFK.However, once on the grounds,the ALAMO staff were both friendly and helpful,as they directed me to the service counter.The service associate at the counterwas very professional in appearance,clear, direct, and expeditiously processed my paperwork.A very nice young lady in the rental car lotvolunteered and assisted me to locate the rental vehicle.The outside of the vehiclerequired to be wiped free of brown dirt spots,which detracted from the appearance of the vehicle.Inside the vehicle, the floors and seats were very clean;however, the inside portion of the front windshieldrequired intensive cleaning,for visual clarity in order to prevent both blinding glare and avoidable accidents.I myself, personally cleaned both the inside portion of the front windshieldand the outside of the vehicle,prior to embarking on my business trip.In the last two years, or so,car rental cleanliness has declined.If anything at all,the windshield must be professionally cleaned,again, for visual clarity in order to prevent both blinding glare and avoidable accidents.When I returned the vehicle,a service associate in the rental return car lotexpeditiously conducted a post vehicle use inspection,then processed my paperwork in fewer than five minutes.Overall Score: 4 StarsDr. A. PROS: Friendly staff, Excellent cars, Great and competitive rates. CONS: Local residents get charged additionally $300 (hold fee) on credit card. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR FLUID GAUGES BEFORE YOU LEAVE. Last experience I received a car with no windshield washer fluid and it was just after the first snow storm of 2021 in NYC. Almost crashed on the Belt parkway...brought car back. Zane the agent apologized and immediately switched cars and I was on my way.
Great job by Ron at the JFK Alamo Rent A Car facility! I had made a mistake when I booked the rental and it was caught by Ron before we received the car. We corrected it and we were on the way. He was exceptionally nice and professional. Thank you Ron for making the experience a great one.
Front desk staff was not helpful and the gentleman outside in the national booth was horrible, rude and unprofessional. However, TONY the manager was amazing! He is a god sent to the company and I wish his staff follows his footsteps when it comes to customer service. The ONLY reason this is a five star review is because of him. Super friendly, great customer service, amazing demeanor and helpful. This company needs to recognize its hidden talents like TONY. Job well done!!!
Staff were awesome! Was travelling g alone, had 2 suitcases and no luggage carts left when I returned my car, the young men working drove me in my rental to my departure gate. First class service from pick up to drop off. Have used other car rentals but will be using Alamo more if this is the kind of service they offer. Merry Christmas Alamo staff!
Great service from staff in lot who helped with issue on first car we had.Following this due to a family emergency we had to return the car to a different location out of state. The corporate number werent much help but the manager Tony at this location was fantastic and helped get it sorted for us. Fantastic customer care from JFK team.
I have been renting from Alamo for over 20 years and love this company because they have fair rates and really take care of you. Over the past two weeks, we rented in two different locations (New York and Atlanta). Both were pick up and drop off in different locations and we upgraded each time. The staff were so professional and courteous in both locations and the ease of obtaining a vehicle was awesome. We wont rent from anyone else.
Everyone was extremely friendly, nice, courteous, and professional. After a long red eye flight, it was so nice to interact with great people. When I returned the car, the Alamo folks went above and beyond. Seeing that I had a lot of luggage and have mobility issues, they arranged to drive me to JetBlue. I did not ask--they offered. I was very impressed with everyone, both behind the desk and working with the cars.
Alamo is my number 1 favorite rental car company. Why? Because there is never any BS at the counter. No scare tactics to get you to sign up for all the typical rental car company extras. No predatory treatment as if this would be the one and only time you would be renting a car from them and they are trying to get as much from you as possible. Finally a company that treats me like the person who will be traveling for his entire life and a long term customer...hallelujah!!! When I get to the car area someone meets me and takes me to my car. Concierge service...love it. I have spent up to $100 dollars more than I might have just to work with a rental car company that finally gets it.
I reserved a car through kayak but when I arrived at this desk to pick it up, they would not rent the car to me because I had a debit card. They said other locations took debit cards, and if I did not have a local license, they would take my card. They refused a credit card number, cash, or electronic payment. When I called the national number for help, they offered no solutions and refused every solution I suggested, eventually hanging up on me.I went to Enterprise next door, where they were very understanding and helpful, and got me set up with a car almost immediately.
Don’t rent from Alamo, worst customer experience possible. Ft laudeddale airport customer service, or he says he’s a manager Brianne Liotte, and Luis S. Worst experience, two kids running which is suppose to be a good customer experience company. they made it into a playground at Alamo.
Been here in January 2018:Several employees insisted on making us pay an extra ~200 USD one way drop off fee that we had already payed for when booking the rental online. (It was indicated on our voucher but only in German language)After arguing with them for at least an hour they finally went to get their manager who agreed to talk to the travel agency in Germany we had booked it with online. Not even five minutes later he came out of the office and says that we could have the rental car and the one way drop off fee was included.There is just no way the other employees hadn’t seen this in their computers from the beginning.I am convinced they tried to charge us extra for nothing!If they try so, just stay right there at the counter and don’t leave until someone solves the “problem” which isn’t supposed to be your problem obviously.
I reserved a minivan during a busy time in NY at the JFK airport. When I walked outside I was met by Brian to show me to my rental. He motioned to me towards a Dodge Caravan. He noticed that I was somewhat disappointed with the Caravan and would rather have a Sienna or a Town n Country. Brian was more than happy to do whatever it took to make sure I was completely satisfied when leaving the Alamo lot. Which I was. The Sienna only had 4400 miles on it at the time of my rental. It is a very nice van! On my return I was met by Mercius with a huge smile. He engaged my children and asked them if they had a nice Thanksgiving with their grandparents. I’ve been renting vehicles for years and have noticed the changes in customer engagement for the positive. Well done Alamo!
I just had another great experience with Alamo. They are always attentive and efficient and work with me each time to get the right car for the best price. I see frustrated people in long lines at other agencies and feel so bad for them! Weve used them consistently for 3 years and will continue to do so.
They didnt want to add me as co-driver because my nationality didnt match my drivers licence country of issue.So expats watch out before you rent a car here (JFK office NYC).In the country I live its illegal to keep youre drivers license from the country of your origin.So therefore 1 star for Alamo.
Had a problem with car, it was a nightmare trying to get a replacement. I would have left 2 stars but the young man that took care of us when returning the car, was the most pleasant, courteos and professional person I met at Alamo. I wish I had his name. Return car at JFK ON 28 September at 6am.
Had an easy check in and pick up. I was traveling from NY to GA during the hurricane week and these guys Had incredible one way deals on their vehicles as well as their customer service. Rates were low and reasonable. If your planning on traveling out of state with a vehicle these guys are the best around.
Thank you for requesting my feedback. It was not the best experience I have had while renting a vehicle. First, there were 2 agents at the desk and only one working the other did not acknowledge any one of us in line. I finally decided to use the machine in the lobby in order to expedite my rental. Once outside there was no one to direct me to the car class I had reserved. Once someone finally approached me because I looked lost, he simply said you see those smalls cars, well you can pick from the larger ones next to those. The vehicles on the ready line were all dirty, looked not vacuumed or wiped down. There were nail clippings in the back seat in the one that we selected as we noticed after we left the lot and seemed to be the cleanest Upon check out, I was never greeted or spoken to, a receipt was not offered. It absolutely left me the desire to NEVER rent from Alamo again.
Alamo Car rental place at JFK airport is one of the best car places that I have walked into. I did online reservation and check in. It took me less than 10 mins to drive away with the car that I chose. No hassles and no excuses from Alamo that they didn’t have the car, in fact they gave me an option to choose from two different colors. Lastly, returning the car was also hassle free because the representative handled everything in a matter of few mins and I received my receipt via email. I will highly recommend this place.
Easy pickup and drop off process.I would suggest cleaning the children car seats each time they are returned. We don’t know if the child that used it before us threw up or urinated on the seat.Perhaps they were cleaned, but they appeared as if they were not when we received the seat. The plastic bag it was in was torn and dirty (or maybe reused several times)
Hello my name is Chris. I rented a minivan on the 24-25 of February from Orlando to JFK. About 15 minutes after leaving the Alamo at JFK I received a call from Taurean and Frazier explaining that I left an iPad in the minivan that they had found. They are such super nice guys! Very helpful and professional! Guys like them should be recognized for amazing service!Because of them I will definitely be returning for future rentals!Thanks Again Fellas!Chris
Check-in was quick and easy. We were allowed to pick any car in the class from a line of available cars. There was a delay when leaving the lot, but the manager apologized for the inconvenienced and removed the gas fill up from our contract. Return was just as quick and easy as the check-in. Will definitely rent from this location again.
I rented a compact car at JFK last week and was disappointed by the condition of the car. This was a surprise as my previous experiences with Alamo were fine and comparable to a few other rental companies I frequently use. This car was the last compact in the lot. The interior was not very clean - the surfaces were a little sticky and the seats had visible stains. The exterior had a lot of small scratches and dents all around. Im not too picky about the exterior but did not feel comfortable with the condition of the interior during the 9 days that I drove the car.
The worst customer service Ive ever experienced.I received a car that had mechanical problems that ultimately lead to it being undrivable. I called the service number and they made it seem like picking up the car and towing it away would not be a problem. 2 hours later when noone arrived I called and the tow company said they didnt do that so they never bothered coming out. After another 30 minute phone call they said they would send another tow company and I told them not to replace the car as I would find a different rental company. I was told I would have to cancel the contract with the rental location but when I called them noone answered and even the people from Alamo could not reach anyone at that location. After 2.5 hours the tow company still hadnt arrived (now 6 hours after my initial call) so it required another call to Alamo and another 30 minutes on the phone.At present I am still waiting for a tow 6 hours after my initial call.
Was the most convenient and easiest rental I’ve ever gotten from pickup to drop off. And when my flight was cancelled in Florida with no hope of getting out they didn’t hit me with a million fees, they just added the days I needed and changed my drop off location in 3 mins to New York City. I’ll never rent with another company. They have a loyal customer for life.
DO NOT TAKE A RENTAL CAR THERE! A much higher price was charged than agreed! The employees are trained to fool the customers. A dubious company! Despite multiple requests and agreements they have risen the costs. If you already booked a car there, do not jump in a conversation with the employees. They are well trained to fool you. I would not even give a point at all! Rent your car somewhere else!
Flew into JFK at midnight and easily took the air train to the rental car stop. The agent was helping a couple when I got there but I only waited a few minutes. This is the quickest and most efficient check-in ever!--he looked up my reservation, confirmed the information he needed, and I was on my way within minutes. Although he asked if I needed any of the insurance, GPS, toll device, and so forth, he didnt push me to get anything additional when I said I didnt need them. The best car rental experience it was.
Excellent experience. Booked a vehicle with the carflexi website, described as full size, Chevrolet Impala or similar. At Alamos desk I was told Impala was premium, not full size. Having a lot of baggage, I was told a full size was actually a Malibu. Still, the lady at the counter did everything to help and I left from there with an Impala. Thank you Alamo.
Good service. Booked in advance at airport via Costco got a excellent rate. Pickup right at the airport and is the cheapest and most comfortable option for anyone going beyond 40miles. I took from JFK and dropped at EWR after dropping family at home. 24hr rental. Always cheaper if you return to a airport as a rule.
Roadside assistance was horrible for Alamo. I had a little accident and was not able to tell my exact location. Please do not wait for Alamos road side assistance to show up, rather if the insurance has the road side assistance then go for it and look for nearer Alamo or Enterprise car rental location. It should have been communicated to us that if I find any nearby Alamo or even Enterprise then go for it for it and take the exchange of the new rental car.
We had been travelling for about 16 hours, 12 hours in the air. We arrived at the Alamo counter at JFK. Need I say how frazzled we were when we arrived at the Alamo counter. After being warmly greeted by Ron, our Alamo represntative, who engaged us in a pleasant conversation, my wife and I felt at home and decompressed. We pick up our car with a smile on our faces. We had a similar experience when we dropped our Alamo rental at JFK. There was an issue with an over charge. The attendant who inspected our rental suggested I talk to the Alamo representative. He assured me that he would be able to help me. Unfortunately I did not get his name. When we came up to the Alamo counter we were greeted with a big smile by Tim, the Alamo representative. He immediately recognized the issue and took care of the over charge. I wish more organizations in the hospitality business had employees like Ron, Tim, and the attendants checking people in and out.
The people we dealt with in 3 different offices (Pgh airport/ JFK / LaGuardia) all were great. But hope you never ever need roadside assistance! Their people are located in Texas so they have no idea of rhe location you are currently in. Also they do not have a list of cars and their accessories. We no sooner left the airport and got on the highway when we were alerted to a low tire situation. After finding a place to refill the tire we found it had a leak in the sidewall. Called assistance that wanted to know if the car had a full size replacement tire in the trunk! How would we know? We only had the car for 6 minutes! After dragging out all our luggage from the trunk we said yes it did. Then they ask if we were in a safe area. How would we know? Never been here before. They actually asked if we needed a ride if the car was towed. Say what? Of course! Once tow truck arrived he said hes not allowed to give rides!! He would not have thought anything about stranding 2 women over 60 on a New York city road! It was a total nightmare. Also assistance claimed they would charge me $70 to dispatch someone even though we bought their insurance! I never did get charged this amount. But again, all the office personel were great just not road side assistance.
The experience that I have was remarkable and I look forward to utilizing your services in the future. My rental car made my stay in New York that much more exciting. The words that I would like to use I couldnt really fine so I did the best I could with what I used. ALAMO all the way!!!! Im grateful for Brian and the rest of the ALAMO team.
I would like to thank the Alamo employee who helped us make our flight after being delayed through New York City traffic - he helped us make the check in time by being proactive, thoughtful and most of all kind.We were in such a rush we didnt get his name - but hars off to him Alamo you have a gem.
The car we rented was fine however the agent we rented it through did not tell us it could only be returned to the JFK airport. This would not normally be a problem however the GPS crashed and left us to fend for ourselves finding the JFK airport from upper NY state and the National car rental return location on our own. The call center for Alamo wished us the best, they were no assistance, and we found our way there by some miracle. Will ask many questions in future and hope the agents are more forthcoming with information that would have saved us much stress. Our hosts would have taken us to the airport but when we were told that there was nowhere to leave the car except at the car rental return at Building 308 at the airport this nixed that idea or any other plan Bs. I would rate this experience up there with a two hour bad root canal. Never again!!
Many choices when renting a car in nyc however, Alamo at the jfk location will always be my top choice. The team there offers exceptional customer service. Specifically, Tenyae, Annmarie and Bryan Flemmings thank you guys for yet another wonderful experience renting with you, you guys truly make it worth my while.
Drop off alamo worker named Tenya made mistakes in billing charges and had horrible attitudes and services in dealing the mistakes she made. Never apologized and was very unprofessional. Serious customer report has been filed to management. I seriously advise that alamo should provide this unprofessional and unacceptable worker serious training and provide penalty for her unprofessionalism and embarassing misrepresentation of the brand of Alamo. Not only did she have horribly rude and arrogant attitudes but also was initiating multiple arguments with other customers dropping off their vehicles.
All kinds of charges on a prepaid in full deal i took an e-z pass for 4 days +gas, that u claim was missing 3 gallons - i filled the tank as much as would go in 6 miles from the airport, as i did not close the contract right away because i thought i missed my flight. you probably used the car for all kinds of errands in the 3 hrs that it was in your possesion until closing- there are other inexplainable charges that add another $40 dollars on a 4 day rental i think that all charges should be spoken up front like $3.95/ for e-z pass, it should be explained that it is besides crazy taxes+concessionary fees the same goes for gas
Booked a car 65$ for a day, ended up paying 182$. If you pay for The Toll pass Device it does not make the tolls you pass free, it simply allows you to by-pass without incurring toll violations. They do not inform you that when you rent a car, you just see a charge on your credit card. Will never rent from them again.
The branch manager Charles, as well as an agent by the name of Brian could not have been more kind, accommodating and professional in assisting us with our vehicle. Their level of professionalism was exemplary and I cannot thank them enough from turning a bad situation on its head and into an extremely pleasant experience.
Great experience with Alamo, our flight was diverted from Laguardia to JFK , as soo as we touched ground I called Alamo and they adjusted our reservation and also got me a savings of almost $100 from the cost of our original reservation. The pick up and returns were easy and no lines or wait time.
The car needed washing. The outside was dirty. I had to wait for them to fill the car with windshield washer because it was empty upon pick up. The side view mirrors and the inside windsheild were dirty. Looked like someone at Alamo used a filthy rag to clean the glass. You could see dirty streaks all over the glass.
Ive booked a hire car from this company, rental agreement number ending 8416 and now have moneys fraudulently removed from my credit card, a rental agreement that should have cost 1500 Usd and somehow had six transactions a reaching a total of 9000 dollars, be aware and use a different merchant.
They were supposed to withdraw all my spending including toll fee, after orange light got turned on in the middle of my trip and ruined my last day of the trip.However, the toll was charged two weeks after their promise.As I am back to my country, I am just giving them one star instead of screaming through the phone.Dont believe what agents tell you at Alamo.
Terrible experience took me 4 hours in the middle of the night to get the rental + $50 Uber never renting there again! After paying ahead.Ordered a car for a week. After a 2 hour subway (train was held on the way) ride to get to Alamo it is 9pm I go to rent a car.The guy at the desk asked for license and Id. I give him my us id and foreign license in English. He said the country has to match calls his manager who refused to give me the rental. I call customer service they transfer me to escalation and they say the name has to match - I say name is the in English - they say nothing we can do canceling or changing will cost money - all rentals in the city closed at 20:45. I end up sending my husband in an Uber to bring the foreign passport. Only than I get the car and start a ride to DC.Whan I asked the guy at the desk if I can wait for my husband for an 1:20 he said I shouldnt. Suggested I can use the airtrain wait at the terminal.Terrible experience never renting there again!
Absolutely disgusting service from Charmaine. she kept us from leaving in 10 minutes because she cannot do her job properly, and she has 0 clue on how to work in a service oriented industry. All of her responses were rude, and kept talking back when I corrected her mistakes. When I asked for an additional driver( which really shouldve been asked BY her), she gave the dirtiest look and said no because she would have to do all over again. She also was pissed when i told her other rental companies like budget or enterprise aleays asks if they want an additional driver. Her respose i dont have to. Absolutely atrocious customer service. I kept seeing her with her Other friend, talkin in their language and laughing while we were waiting for our rental car. I called for a manager who wouldnt come for some reason, so I went outside, and what did I find? A manager. She purposely made us wait. Not a single apology from Charmaine and you bet your ass Im calling corporate.Racist employee looking down on us everytime because we were asian. She did give a surprise look when I was speaking English. Do not go here
Rend a car through Expidia with Thrifty. At JFK airport found out I need to pay more then DOUBLE due to hidden fees. I canceled the transaction and went next door to Alamo with whom I alaways had good expirence in the past. As alaways, had a wonderful expirence! Fair and honest prices, outstanding service all along the way and even git upgrade with the car.Thank you Alamo!
Ill be flying into JFK and using Alamo rental car for first time. Is it difficult to get from Jet Blue to rental location? Also I was told by an agent when I booked reservation that using my debit card is not a problem as Im returning car when I fly out of airport again (different airport)?! Before I get there I need to be reassured this is correct as I had this problem with another car rental company last time I flew in to NY.
On the morning of October 31st 2020,I went to pickup a rental from their JFK airport location.There was an issue concerning my method of payment.Two weeks ago I rented a car from Alamo and the experience was great that’s why I returned.But on this day my experience wasn’t nice.The counter person was very rude and nasty.Had no patience in explaining to me the reason why I wasn’t able to receive the rental.Didn’t allow me to explain about my method of payment that I used two weeks prior.It was upsetting to deal with the treatment in front of other customers.I understand if there’s a problem concerning my method of payment.But when customer service is poor and unwelcoming,I don’t want to return to rent from them or refer someone to rent from Alamo.Please train Mark in the proper handling of people.Also the manager too needs training on how to handle situations with respect and kindness.Thank you for this platform to express myself.
Had the worst day at JFK with delays and cancellations. We decided to drive back to Boston regardless of weather and chose Alamo. The employees at this location went above & beyond in turning our day around. They were professional, funny, and empathetic to our problem. I will always choose Alamo because of the way these employees handled two very tired Bostonians.
The People working at ALAMO JFK threated us very well (which is how i feel not very common in NYC). Everything was fast and easy as we are used to at ALAMO. I can only recommend this place. No trying of selling you unneeded extras etc. If you go on a trip to the Neighbour-States i can also recommend to get a E-ZPass for bridge tolls. It was arround 20$ at the counter extra but safes you a lot of time not standing in line.
TENYA from jfk alamo drop off location was BEYOND rude and unprofessional. She attempted to initiate arguments with drop off customers with her mistakes on final bills. HORRIBLE ATTITUDE and simply an ugly mind. Avoid this location unless they replace this pathetic worker with professionally trained alamo employees.
Worst car rental experience ever. Im a traveler, travels all the time. This is undoubtedly the worst experience Ive ever have. The staff is rude and horrible, you know what, maybe the most horrible people Ive ever met. I WILL NEVER RENT WITH ALAMO ANY MORE!!!! DONT RENT WITH ALAMO!!!
I love this place the employee are so nice they go out their way to make sure Im good just to name a few Oerin, Tenyae,Rivan,and AnnMarie ,I could reserve a compact car and if its not to my expectation I can choose any car I wish I come here at least once a month but for some reason this past weekend I was not satisfied with my car I asked for something more comfortable and roomy and the gentlemen didnt even bother to hear me out he was friendly but didnt bother to listen to me when I told him Im a regular their, but it doesnt stop me from coming their I will continue to come and rent from you guys.

2022-05-17We made a reservation for a minivan and we got a new 2022 Chrysler Pacifica. Which was absolutely beautiful. It absolutely handled my family of 7, 3 large luggages, a car seat, stroller and 4 backpacks.I arrived at 11pm on a Friday and there wasn’t a line. I got my car within minutes. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful.I chose to prepay for the gas because their rates were lower than the local prices. Which was also great.I also had a reservation with Hertz for a 7 passenger car. But they wouldn’t promise me a minivan. I’m so happy I got a reservation with the Alamo.I saw a guy get upset with them because his credit card didn’t go through. That’s not their fault, just have the credit available and you’ll be out in minutes.When I returned the car, the employees were also friendly. They were able to provide me a luggage carrier (if it’s a available).

2022-05-17Hands down, the Alamo at JFK has the best, friendliest, most helpful staff we have ever interacted with at a car rental facility. We were in a bind after Dollar Car Rental told us they would not have a car for us (that we reserved and pre-paid for) until 1 hour past our reservation time, so we walked over to Alamo. The manager (we did not get his name) was understanding and empathetic to our situation, and found a car for us on the spot - we were driving out within minutes! When we dropped the car off, Tylar was very friendly and helpful, as well. We will definitely use Alamo the next time we are in New York!

2019-12-23The friendly and authentic staff at Alamo made my family feel welcome and cared for. When we wanted to make a few small requests, they were accommodating and efficient. Everyone we interacted with was kind. The car has been great so far; no problems yet. Thank you, Alamo!

2021-12-16Ron from Alamo Car Rental at JFK is a gem of a person. He provided my husband and I with great service and useful tips for our road trip to Atlantic city. Moreover, he was also very patient with us while we chose a suitable car, and extremely helpful and kind as well. A sincere thank you to him for his outstanding and professional service!

2022-01-28Worst customer service. Very rude! The workers at Alamo shouldn’t be working there. Had to come back twice and still the second gentleman was very rude to my grandfather and I. The company right next to them were more helpful then them

2019-06-20Alamo Broadway pick-up and got a nice Fathers Day Deal (new Range Rover Velar). Very friendly staff. Return at JFK without waiting. Again everyone very friendly. Alamo is going to be our choice again next US trip. Thanks guys.
