Ive been using Albany Light Truck and Car since I had to have a vehicle of mine towed there out of necessity. At the time I was surprised about how good their customer service was - and the degree to which they worked with us on the price of a sudden and costly repair. Since then Ive been getting routine maintenance there and dont plan to change that anytime soon!
They ended up having our sprinter van twice for a month to get stuff done (well, one visit was a month and 6 days, but who is counting). It seems like their promptness has really suffered. We also had a car seat chewed on by a mouse while being repaired there.We also had to have further repairs (an engine rebuild in VT!) done after they finished their last repair. But maybe it was just destined to happen.That said, when they asked why our diesel van had trouble starting when it was below freezing, and I asked if they had used the block heater and they hadn’t, it made me wonder...Prior review: Not the cheapest place but they seem to be fairly prompt, professional and will communicate what they think should be done and why. The repairs I’ve had done here seem to be solid.
We were passing through the area and had our brakes go on the camper. I called and Vinny and he had me stop by the same day to look at it. Then he diagnosed and fixed the brakes and a few issues on the truck. 150% happy with the service and recommendations.Thank you ALT for the great service!
I had my husbands truck down there to install a tow hitch. Vince was great did the job perfect price was awesome. By far the best place to take your truck or car. In upstate New York If it doesnt need to be fixed Vince will be upfront with you. People need a few good people in there corner. A lawyer. A doctor. And a honest mechanic. Now my family as all three. Vinny Ciccarelli and team took great care of our RV. We had badly damaged the step and I was certain it would need to be replaced. Vinny was honest about the possible outcomes and pricing for best and worst scenarios. Turned out, their technician was expertly able to fix the step, and we were on our way a short hour or so later. We were COMPLETELY satisfied with the work and integrity of Albany Light Truck & Car Repair. They got us back on the road!
I first heard of Albany Light Truck & Car repair on an ad on christian radio, so when I started to have trouble with my CRV I called and spoke to Vinny. Over the phone he was gracious in talking through my issue, and he accurately suggested a read differential service to take care of my problem. He was right and I had them do the service. Ever since then Ive found that both Vinny and Brian are absolutely wonderful at customer service and have really been a blessing with providing me with accurate, fair and timely recommendations on my vehicle. The work ALTC has done has been wonderful and I am very pleased with the service theyve provided. Prices are definitely fair, and my confidence in their keeping my 160,000 mile vehicle on the road safely is very high. I highly recommend Albany Light Truck and Car repair for a fair price and a caring, trustworthy experience for taking care of your vehicle.
Came in with a broken exhaust expecting to pay a ton to replace it... Ill be leaving paying probably a thousand dollars less than what I expected, and in a days less time than expected. Vinny is honest and very straightforward with everything. Ive been here before for transmission trouble and battery trouble and will continue to come here for all of my automotive problems. Ive been to many shops in the cap district and these guys are the best, if you own a light truck and have been looking for honest, knowledgeable and fast mechanics, this is the place. When your truck leaves their shop its ready to work, and their prices are very fair.
I stopped in to have a valve stem repaired on my camper they had it done in like 20 min with out an appointment can’t say enough great things about the whole staff were great. I had problems with my lights plug that hooked to my camper also they fixed that in a few hrs thanks so much.
I recently moved to NY from SC and was concerned about learning how to drive in snow for the first time. Vinny was very patient and helpful and made sure my car was ready for the winter weather. This is by far the best shop Ive visited!

Honest , reliable, and understanding. I have used them for fleet work and personal vehicles and either way you get the same wonderful prompt service. Its trully unusual to find a shop like this and I recomend them for cars trucks or rv service. Car repairs are never fun but you can rely on these folks to do it the right way!

I love the whole team at Albany Light Truck. Thats what makes them awesome. They always fix my cars right away when I need them fixed, and they never try to make me fix stuff that doesnt need fixing. Good prices and friendly, but NOT!! a real diesel repair shop as advertised! Much better off going to Capitaland or King of the hill.

2022-02-25Brought my diesel pickup truck in. Engine was running rough. Was charged $700 to replace two sensors. They also told me i needed a new computer. On my way driving home i came to find out a partially severed injector wire was my issue and fixed it with a 10¢ wire crimp. I wish they had spent a bit more time on diagnosis and less on parts. Nonetheless they were really nice guys and don’t believe they had any bad intentions. But I’m left feeling kinda stupid spending so much money on such a simple problem.

2021-09-09I cannot say enough good things about Vinny at Albany Light Truck & Car repair. I was passing through the area in my RV when we experienced a blow out on my back tire. I was able to drive safely to a location. We called several places and no one could help until I called this place. Vinny and I communicated back and forth and he gave me directions to their shop where I could drive safely with one flat back tire. They got me in, replaced back two tires and had me back on the road in 2 hours. I am eternally grateful for their assistance! They were so kind as well! I highly recommend this place!

2021-08-10I was not near home when I had mechanical issues with my vehicle. I located this business and saw their multiple good reviews. I will lump on and agree with so many others that Albany Light Truck and Car Repair is one of those independent garages that are tough to find. Sean and his staff are top notch. Had me back on the road within 24 hrs. Great folks

2021-12-07Would not trust this garage! Car was misdiagnosed by them and charged for parts that did not need to be changed. Garage tried to up sell me on other parts and recommendations totaling almost $3,000! Ended up going to other shop to get it squared away by someone honest and who knew what they were doing. Will never return and do not recommend this repair shop!

2021-11-10Vinny took my call and when I explained my towing problem and that I needed to get on the road to Florida he said to bring it in. With a little luck and a lot of professionalism and perserverance I will be back on the road in the morning feeling safe with my fa.ily and beginnings in tow. Vinny was a real blessing!

2021-07-12These guys are always friendly and accommodating and most of all I trust them. They are always busy and that is testimony to the fact that they are good people. We have been bringing our motorhome there the last 4 or 5 years and they never try to oversell. I will continue to bring our motorhome to them. They also have great prices on tires.

2018-03-29Not very happy because I was told that my 1994 RV with 39900 miles in very good condition was too old for an inspection. He said he only inspects 1995 and later. What a coincidence. He was the last place to inspect it the last few times and still has the records. Since then its only been driven 300 miles, has new tires and brake components, but I was still denied an inspection. Not sure this is legal in New York State. Will have to see what DMV says about that. Fleet Pride in Menands is happy to do the inspection. I prefer to bring my business where its wanted. Obviously he couldnt be bothered.

2020-08-11Brought my car in to have a dead headlight bulb changed (requires entire front bumper to be pulled, thanks GM), oil changed, and state inspection. They set me up with an appointment for the next week (I had told them no rush, I have all month) and the work was done same day.I had intended to change both bulbs, to prevent having to pay the labor on removing the bumper again in the near future, and they very helpfully suggested I change EVERY bulb in the front headlights. It was good advice as I hadnt considered the other bulbs, just the main ones. No other mechanic I called for a quote pointed that out to me; the cost increase was negligible.When the final price was above what was quoted to me, he immediately looked it back over and dropped the prices to his quote. Odds are the bumper gave more trouble than anticipated; everyone Ive ever asked says its worth the money to have someone else do it because its such a pain.They value honesty and good service. Prices were reasonable. Turnaround time was much better than average. I would recommend them.

2021-09-03With a scheduled in advance appointment, had my 2019 Thor motorhome for 10 days to find cause and fix constantly on airbag system light. Resulting bill $1600 plus before taxes and front swivel seats are now stopped from rotation with zip ties. Went here because of referral from Albany RV/RVone, Fucillo Ford and Depaula Ford.

2017-06-08Several years ago we were referred to Albany Light Truck and Car Repair by a close friend. We needed a base plate installed on our GMC Terrain so that we could flat tow behind our RV and they had experience with this type of work. We were not disappointed. We scheduled an appointment and the work was done in the promised time. The price was extremely fair for the work involved in the installation. We continued each year having our inspections done on the RV. We recently purchased a new vehicle and once again entrusted Vinnie and the crew to install the base plate on our 2017 Traverse. They not only did a great job on the installation but also did the wiring. Every bit of it is professional looking and neatly done. Once again, the price was fair for the amount of work done. All of the staff is professional and polite whether visiting in person or speaking on the phone. My husband and I cannot say enough positive things about the business in general. We will continue using their services and promoting their services to others. Thank you for making us believers that their are still honest, professional business owners still in existence.John and Kathy Hale
