Albany Med in other cities:
If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. I was in the hospital for 12 HOURS!!! In those 12 hours all they did was give me an EKG, XRay, and Blood test, and didn’t share the results with me! I sat in a regular chair from 5 pm-4AM until they moved me to a bed in a surgery room? And told me they wanted to do an ultrasound and that would even take a few hours!?!? Getting that somewhere else! The staff is the most incompetent and slowest moving people I have ever met, and god forbid something happens to me before I’m able to get checked by a REAL health professional I’m going to SUE THIS HOSPITAL
I have been operated on twice and they were very good.ER is ridiculous how long you have to wait. 6 hours before I got in. They go by severity not in order of your arrival. I was practically in tears.Once I got in they were fast and figured it out asap It was 2 hours to find out what was wrong, treat and release me. But to get in was obnoxiously long. There was people waiting 8+ hours.
I was told by both the information desk and security that I could visit my dying grandmother, yet when I arrived outside of the icu they turned me away. I wasnt even allowed to sit in the waiting room, I had to stand on the bridge. This place is completely disorganized, I dont blame any individual person but management needs to fix this. I put the blame on them.Ill never be able to see my grandmother again, at the very least I shouldnt be thrown into an emotional roller coaster because nobody can tell me whats going on.
I spent 6 hours on a gurney in a crowded hallway begging for water while two nurses and two security guards sat around telling dad jokes and talking about avocado toast. It took crying to a doctor to finally get a drink.I refused medication and was injected. I have no idea with what.It was completely humiliating. I’m trying to launch a formal complaint and no one answers my emails. This is the worst hospital ever.
My disabled daught broke 3 bones in a fall and I had the best experience with Albany med. Doctor Ahmad b choudry MD , and Alley maxwell were the ones who cared for Taydra, as well as the AMAZING NURSING STAFF. Every member of the staff wasattentive, friendly, knowledgeable, observant, passionate, responsible, reassuring, trustworthy, and mostly professional. I do not have one complaint thank you so much staff of 6c short stay floor...
This place has gone so far downhill. Five years ago they may have had a doctor that was worth it but ended up getting rid of them. The doctors now are incompetent and do not care about the patient. Furthermore medical records violated my HIPAA rights. You will not be safe and protected at this medical center and you will not get the treatment that you deserve.
I would give 0 if I could. I made an appointment for early May. I received a call that Ms. Fina was not available until 5/27. I showed up on time, pre-registered and was told she was too busy and needed to reschedule. That was after an hours wait. Desperate people cant wait weeks.Look at my other reviews. I only normally review positive experiences.
Bad chest pains along with dizziness brought me to Albany med I Went in a 6.15 pm on a Monday and waited until 530 am before being taken from waiting room. Staff / nurses super rude. Its been exactly 12 hours now and still havent been visited by a dr. Dont come here , go to Saint peters literally down the street. Biggest mistake Ive made in a long time.
Worst receptionist ever. you may as well dig your own grave instead of going to albany med. they also won’t give you food or water if you’re there for long period of time. my family friend went for 9+ hours and they gave her bo food or water. despicable hospital. disgrace, really.
My wife had a surgery there. We got so many bills and all were ambiguous. We had to call them several times to narrow down bills to two. We paid the bills and surprisingly we got a letter from broker that we had not paid bills!!! I called Albany Med, without any apology or explanation they said we will fix it and hung the phone.
This is the worst hospital ever! My grandson went there last night with a rash and high temperature of 104 and they never gave him a covid test and he is 3 years old! Diagnosed him with strep throat and his throat was not the issue! CLOSE THAT HOSPITAL DOWN!!! IT DOESNT DESERVE THE ONE STAR I GAVE THEM AT ALL!!!! Sent him home with a high temperature and rash and told him he was clear to go to school the next day! Bunch of dummies!!!
I had stomach problems, fever, and chills after endoscopy so I called the doctor and told me to go to the ER little did I know I would be there for 18 hours. Went in at 7:30PM got seen gave me fluid and medicine for the pain and was told they will set up a CT scan. 11:00PM comes around and they take me in for a CT scan. They tell me they will have a doctor read the CT scan results to me in 45 minutes. After checking with the front desk they keep telling me they have my results but no one to read them. At 9:00Am the next morning I finally get a bed I ask about my results and they said they were fine...that was my answer after waiting for 10 hours after the scan. They did more blood tests the doctor told me they will take an hour. They got the results back at 11:00AM and i got the blood test result read to me all they said was they were good. I finally got released at 12:00Pm. They billed me just about 400$ which i tried to get reduced because I didnt really get any results read to me I just got good and fine. Then denied my request. We will never go back to Albany Med. Stop mandating your willing Nurses and Doctors to have a vaccine when you are already short staffed. Waiting 18 hours to get no answers to anything at all was a waste of my time and this is a total rip off.
I want to share how Albany Medical entire staff were outstanding in how they were with our family member who was treated for a month long stay with life threatening illness. His complex condition was never dismissed and treated with urgency, expertize, and beyond believable in every way by all. Each worker whether Doctor, nurse or environmental worker, whether parking garage attendant, security or hospitality. All were kind, caring, and over did their job descriptions and went the extra mile! The caseworker, and other specialty staff assured our family member that care would continue after he left the hospital. Due to shortages of ALL staff the few made up for the missing by overtime, working many positions and still remaining civil and caring with patients and family!THANK YOU ! I hope those faithful will all get increased pay for the rest of their employ!!!
I came here for my prenatal care and to deliver and felt compelled to write a review. Every single employee I worked with throughout my pregnancy all the way to labor and delivery were simply excellent. The doctors, nurses, and staff were as compassionate as can be and seemed to truly care about my well-being. Also, very supportive of all decisions and non-judgmental. I knew I was in good hands for 9 months. My l&d experience was amazing because of the team. Everyone was great, but special shout out to the nurses D’Laura and Beth. They are the kindest humans ever and made a nerve-wracking experience surprisingly easy.
My wife was advised go to ER because her edema was out control. She was admitted to 8th floor Cardiac Floor. They say the nurses make the hospital as they are those who care for you the most. My wife was at hospital for week and the care she received from the nurses was excellent. It would be very hard to choose which nurse gave her the best care but two that come to mind is Tiffany and Marissa. They made her feel safe and there positive attitude was second to none. The hospital should feel proud to have such caring nurses. thank you John Richards (Susan Richards)
Staff was kind and attentive, even though ER was full to the brim. I cannot overstate how nice the nurses were to me, despite what must have been a full-on day for them. Yes, it is crowded, but in my experience most ERs are. The care I received was thorough & competent, the wait time was far less than I expected, and literally each one of the 8 people who helped me- Admin, nurses, doctors and staff, were pleasant, patient and professional.
I had a cardiac catheterization at Albany Med earlier this week and the entire staff of the cardiac cath lab was fantastic. Dr. Esper...the two nurses who took care of me (Kayleigh and Maria)...everyone I came into contact with was thorough, clearly communicated with me, answered all my questions, and was incredibly kind. I was never neglected or ignored.I have been hospitalized at Albany Med twice (on the Cardiac and Neurology Units) and both times received excellent care. I live two hours away from Albany but am happy to travel to Albany Med and am grateful for all that the doctors, nurses, and staff there have done for me.
Pretty appalled by how my dad was treated at this facility. He had brain surgery, and when discharged no one wheeled him to the exit. Him and my elderly mom were given no assistance out to their vehicle. The nursing staff had no idea what the procedure was for him to be discharged and they would bicker because of their situation with Covid. I strongly urge anyone with loved ones to stay away from this facility if possible.
Arrived at AMC at 3pm. Told to sit in waiting room and I would be called. At 11:30pm I was told I could go to the ER.Finally, but not really. I went in and was given a stretcher in the hall and that’s where I stayed until 7pm the next da No assessment, meds, water or pain meds.my husband sat in a wheelchair all that time. A supervisory MD came and said they were sorry. I was finally admitted and stayed four days. The worse !!!!
I had the worst experience. My nose is broken and healed and I can barely breathe and instead of helping me the doctor gave me a half hour lecture about the covid vaccine and them basically said to me we can clearly see that you cant breathe and its because of your broken nose...but just to be sure Im gonna give you a nasal spray. She didnt message me back for weeks on end and is avoiding giving me surgery so she can get kick backs on her medicines
Akin to elder abuse. My father was taken in to the ER for a traumatic brain injury. Apparently I reached the ER moments after he was taken to the neurology floor. Because there is a nonsensical break in visiting hours between 1 and 5. I was told I had to wait 4 hours to go comfort him. This is an inhumane way to treat patients and their families. The security staff were vile and lack any semblance of sympathy, not only for myself but for every other family member I saw them interact with. Disgusting!
Ive been trying to reach the neurology department for 2 days. I tried yesterday afternoon and just kept getting the recording thank you for calling. A representative will attend to your call as soon as possible. After 10 minutes I hung up presuming that they dont answer calls after 4 PM.Then I tried the next morning after 9 AM..so far Im 10 minutes into my attempt and I have the same recording as last night. this is something that could be remedied -- just about meeting the customer. Simple stuff. I dont know how long Ill hold this time. I may hang up at the 15 minute mark.
Thanks for Nurses and doctorsOne star is only for the front security, those two people on night shift 11/24/21 at 7pm I got stopped there behavior was worse. The way the treated me like I am in a prison. Albany Med need to work on them. They acted like they are working in Bar not in hospital where I was visiting my dad who was in a critical condition. I may not see him who knows in this hospital but this is one of the worse experience i had from security of this hospitalMy cousin was coming in to visit my Dad when I went down there there respons that people who are coming here to visit patients need to speak English if not they shouldnt be here
The nurses in the ER have terrible bedside manner. They gave my poor mother ultimatams when she can’t care for herself due to a terrible accident. She wanted a washcloth for her head because it was hot and some crackers to eat and they said she could only have one or the other. Then the nurse never came back! They never fed her that day and they never gave her the pain medications they ordered! The accident happened out of town otherwise we would have gone to our local hospital! It’s been 5 days since the incident and I still have not spoken to a doctor. I’ve called twice today and I still haven’t heard back. It truly feels like they are holding my mother hostage. I’ve never been so upset!
My husband had to under go a major surgery to replace one of the valves of his heart. He has a congenital condition and the surgeon was very good at understanding his situation and made sound decisions to best treat his condition. The cardiac icu was fantastic on day one after surgery and day 2, day 3 he didnt require as much round the clock attention since he was doing better. I still felt like they couldve been more helpful though because he has issues with his arms after surgery and needed a little more help. Now hes on the 8th floor of the cardiac unit and they just dont care at all! He requested a piture of iced water and almost 2 hours later had to request it again!!!!! 2 hours!!! When she finally brought in the water it had no ice in it whatsoever and it was room temp!!! I was there for 3 hours for visitation and I only saw 2 nurses come into his room the entire time. Once to bring ice packs ( they didnt have heat packs ) for his arms and once to bring in room temp water and some plastic cups! I get theyre busy and have a lot of people on that floor to care for , but looking out the door of his room you can clearly see at least 3 to 4 nurses standing there chatting for about and hour. If they have time for that I think they could at least find some ice for my husband who just had open heart surgery 3 days ago!!
My girlfriend and I came in at 11:00an to the emergency room to see an eye specialist because we heard they have them staffed here. Weve been in the waiting room for 4 and a half hours to see them with no status whatsoever on when well see them. People have arrived here hours after us reviewing treatment before us. Save yourself the stress and time. Find another place to get your medical care.
Being a high risk mom, Albany Medical Center has always gone beyond and above most other local hospitals to truly provide quality care and pay attention to every detail. Labor and Delivery is an amazing unit. And I will never have enough words to say about the amazing NICU team and how caring they were with our children & our hearts.
I just recently spent 5 days at Albany Med. I was admitted to E4. The staff could not have been more accommodating. From Dr Lobe to the nurses Erin, Eric, Victoria to the PCs. They are true heroes. If I hope never have to stay in the hospital again, I would request that it would be on that floor with that team. You could tell they are under staffed and over worked. But stillthere dedication to the patients is commendable. They deserve to be recognized as a asset to the Albany Med facility .Thank you 4E,Karl
Around June of 2020, I was involved in a 1 car MVA in which I rolled my vehicle. I was given two options by the paramedic on scene, I could either go to St. Peters or Albany med. Eventually, due to my mechanism of injury, Albany Med was the final decision as they can handle my situation more appropriately. Once I had arrived to Albany Med, I was met by all staff and A1 arrival was announced. For those who dont know, A1 is the Trauma Room which is basically a way of saying its a high priority room. It was determined very quickly that there were no hidden injuries and that the only injury I had was an obvious broken collar bone. This was all done very professionally and very quickly. I was then moved to a regular room and within a few short minutes I was seen by a provider. While in the middle of COVID, being in the ER was hard enough, it was awesome that Albany Med still allowed one visitor at that time. Especially being the circumstances at hand. Would use them again if needed. As EMS personnel myself, this is where I always recommend my trauma patients go.
I have never waited for anything for 8+ hours until I went the ER at Albany Med. Even in New York City in the most densest hospital, no one I know waited more than 5 hours. They either lack urgency, common sense and/or are extraordinarily understaffed. When you ask if you can speak to your doctor or if you can even get his name they look at you as if you have two-heads. When I asked the receptionist if I can get the address to the Director of Medical Records to make a request to see mine she a) didn’t know it b) didn’t know his name and c) didn’t know or have the main hospital’s phone number. I was told this place is terrible thinking it was just gossip but no, all the bad things I heard about it are true. Only good thing I can say about it is that one nurse actually gave concern to her patients.
I needed an EKG here. I was sent all over the hospital but finally was directed to the proper office. The nurse BARBARA was fantastic!! She could feel my pain and inability to lay flat due to my back issues. My anxiety was quelled by her experience and patience! Thank you BARBARA the hospital should be thankful for having you.
Came here for my prenatal care and to deliver. Not only were they supportive of a VBAC, they helped me get there successfully. All of the doctors and nurses were amazing and took excellent care of me and baby. 10/10 better than Samaritan hospital in Troy. Very grateful for the team I had.
Worst experience in my entire life… the staffs are rude, and when they tell you they will be back, just know it might take 9 hours or never. I went into the hospital with 103 temperature at 7:30pm, I got an IV ( no fluid in it ) at 8:30, I stayed there till 12:30, still sitting on a chair in the waiting room in excruciating pain because I had Bodyaches… I told the lady I need more medicine for the bodyaches because the first medicine they gave me didn’t work, she said she’ll see what she can do but she never came back. I ended up leaving Albany med with the IV still in my arm, and went to another hospital. They have not checked up on me, they didn’t even know when I left. They stack people in the waiting room like they’re collecting bodies .UPDATE: I decided to come back and change my review, Albany med saved my life. After going to several hospitals and being misdiagnosed, they were able to help me accordingly. I was hospitalized for 18 days, had 3 surgeries and EVERY SINGLE STAFF from the nurses to the doctors and aids were mazing and really care for you . They took exceptional care of me as I recovered and really went above and beyond, thank you to all of you angels. I guess once your pass the waiting room situation it gets better!
The staff, Doctors, and Nurses were fantastic in the Neurosurgery wing of the hospital treat you like family and know their business.I found that the visiting restrictions for people having serious NON-COVID-related surgery were inflexible and harsh. Security allows for short two-hour blocks of visiting hours for two family members. And the family members visiting are locked into that two-hour block. They cant swap with other family members during the time slot. They also fail to display or hand you a pamphlet with their visiting rules. So if your loved one has a high risk of dying, and you are not one of the two people already visiting, then you are out of luck if your loved one doesnt make it through surgery.
Worst hospital I’ve been if I could rate it 0 stars I would. I was in the hospital for 14 hours just to get results from the lab and a never got a doctor. I came at 5 pm and got out around 7 am in the next day. I was feeling really and told the nurses many times how I felt and they didn’t care.
Absolutely ridiculous. Came in for a scheduled induction at 400 wks +2 and had to sit in the waiting room for hours before they could give us a room. Sitting in a waiting room at 42 weeks after having to wake up at the crack of dawn and drive an hour to the hospital only to be treated lile this is ridiculous. I would have atleast expected thwm to be prepared since it was prescheduled induction. They were adamant on us arriving warly but couldnt even have a room ready or available as if they did not know we were coming. So disappointing - so tired of being treated like second class citizen by the healthcare system.
I had the worst most racially profiling, unethical and degrading experience at albany medical center last night. They not only told my partner to leave AMA as the only resolution to the issue but they refused him to speak to the nurse supervisor or an on call doctor, and instead called security due to us asking to see a policy in writing, as the nurse contradicted her self in an earlier statement . The security guard was extremely rude hostile and aggressive making my partner and I scared when we were calmly seated on his bed, stating we had to leave. They refused to give us names or any contact information to anyone we could speak to about the issue. They were insensitive and lacked compassion or care for my partners emotional and medical needs. They then amongst them selves after the closed the door to call a hire up(which they didnt because I opened the door to listen to them) spoke about the incident and stated that he was only there for the pain medication when on several occasions he did not accept any pain medications. My partner has not only never been hospitalized in his life but has never drank smoked or done drugs in his life! The nurse then returns and stated she spoke to the c.d.c and the nursing supervisor stated that he has to leave. May I please know at 10:30pm who at the C.D.C did you speak to. To top it off on our exit my partner not only shared a room with a person who was on contact precautions but on droplet precautions as well; my partner has a 15cm mass in his liver and it is inflamed, why would you put him in a room with someone who has a contaminating illness? To top it off they stated that visiting hours were over and on the exit a white family of 6 with visitor tags on were on the hallway. The experience not only left me in tears but my partner who was already fearful due to medical concerns is now in pain with extreme anxiety and fearful to go back to the hospital from the traumatic experience
Horrible experience. Left in a room, barely checked on ever. Nurses sitting at the nurse station on their phones, shopping online. 14 hours to get an MRI. Tests not put in for over 12 hours. The height of not caring about your patients. Avoid this place if at all possible.
The after birth Nurses went over and beyond my expectations but I cant say the same for the rest of the staff. This was my third child but first time at Albany med. The doctors had their training new doctors and nurses like on training during my delivery without even asking me and I wasnt okay with the. The epidural was done incorrectly and it was just a flat our horrible experience. Please do not use this hospital to deliver your child. the guy who did my epidural, tried it 3 times in which I told him I could feel him touching a nerve in my back which I had a epidural twice before and that never happened, he kept trying until he touch a nerve or something in my spine and cause my body is involuntary move and the needle went in and I got an immediate Headache. He them called his supervisor, I was hesitant to try it again but I decided to and she still had him try again and I still felt it and then she did it. My blood level dropped so they had to give me medicine to being it back up so more or less it didnt even do anything because I felt everything. Its been a year now and I cant carry a basket of laundry without my back hurting. Again I plead with anyone to never deliver your child here.
I had a roommate leave at 6 pm and they didn’t clean that side until 10pm when i was asleep! mind u i was on the pediatric side and they had 4 hours to clean it. I asked if they could clean it in the morning a got told no so at 10pm they turned the bright lights on and cleaned for 20 minutes. I am making a formal complaint this is ridiculous especially because it’s very hard for me to fall asleep.
I went to albany med with my boyfriend a few days ago because he passed out and hit his head pretty hard. we were sent to the pediatric ER and it was pretty busy, but after 4 actual hours we finally got seen and checked in and were waiting for a room, which was fine i understand that hospitals are busy places. But after another few hours we got shown to a room and that was the last time a doctor talked to us at Albany Med. We were left in a random patient room in the ER for 5 hours. Nobody came in to speak with us at all, a few nurses popped in to take some equipment but even they never said a word to me. My boyfriend and i were very scared because he just randomly passed out and hit his head very hard, all i wanted was confirmation that he was gonna be okay but they couldn’t even give us that. I live in Albany and see on the news often that people are flown in to Albany med and how great of a hospital it is but i did not see any of that in my experience there. Please if you have an emergency do not waste your time at albany med, if something was really wrong with my boyfriend they would have been the reason if something terrible happened. Don’t waste your time, go to St. peter’s it’s in Albany also.
LOVE my neurologist, Dr.Applebee! I followed her from Vermont. Shes completely worth the trip! I have Multiple Sclerosis and she has gotten me up out of a wheelchair and has kept me out of it! Been lost in there going between doctors offices and the hospital but EVERYONE us always so nice and super helpful!
I dont care how good your medicine is, if you have zero communication with the patients family then it makes for a very unpleasant experience. I am forgiving on being busy and overwhelmed with COVID modified operations (I am a veterinarian and know what thats like), but I cant get over how terribly the staff treats the patients family, especially the medical proxy. Requested a callback from a doctor, and a doctor called back and said that she was busy managing 200 patients and making sure no one dies, then said she had another call and hung up. Absolutely horrible.
My husband came here for surgery on his badly broken leg. This place runs like a well oiled machine. Everyone we had to deal with was wonderful. Wait times werent bad at all, but being mentally prepared to wait helps. Because youre going to wait, thats how it works. That doctors and the nurses were awesome and so was the food. My husbands care was outstanding and he couldnt have been in better hands. The staff here care about what theyre doing and it shows.
We all have horrible stories of wait times and Doctors not finding paitients rooms , a bad meal, a nurse thats 45 min late with meds or something. EVERY HOSPITAL HAS ITS OFF MOMENTS. I read all the one star reviews and yes , unfortunately these people all had bad or rough experiences and I am sure that AMC will take note. With that being said ...MY MOTHER IS WALKING BECAUSE OF THE AMAZING REHAB AND SURGEONS at this facility. We spent over a month from one issue to another and it all was a blessing in disguise. My mom is not a Spring chicken anymore as she puts it. So she gets down and the staff made her day. Id like to thank everyone from the Bone and Joint team to the 3rd Floor (Much love and gratitude to you fine workers ). The Rehabilitation and Krista , Amy. And especially Nurse Christine .Thank you ,thank you ,thank you.!!!
I went into the ER with a collapsed lung. I sat in a triage for over an hour without anyone coming in. Finally, I hit the call button and the doctor came in and told me he had been looking for me for a while. I had to get a tube put in my chest and he told me that if I had waited much longer it could’ve crushed my heart and I could’ve died. When they put the chest tube in I was only given ibuprofen for pain and lidocaine and it was unbelievably painful. A few days later they took the tube out and within an hour I was told that it didn’t work and I had to get another chest tube put in. It was the most unbearable pain imaginable. After that they did a CAT scan and found out I needed a piece of my lung removed. The hospitals computer system went down the day before my surgery and they almost made me wait to get the surgery. After the surgery I had to get a 3rd chest tube and it was unsuccessful at re-inflating my lung for 2 whole weeks. While I was hospitalized I was treated with disrespect by most of the staff. One nurse in particular was very rude and had horrible bedside manner. His name was Tim. When I would hit the call button to ask for medication, Tim would not bring me my medication for hours. One day he made me wait over 9 hours without any pain medication. Overall it was the worst experience of my life and I was truly terrified for my own safety. If you need immediate medical assistance please do not ever go to this place. I need to see a therapist because of how traumatic the whole experience was. DO NOT EVER GO TO ALBANY MEDICAL CENTER!!!!
Took my dad to ER got there 1:30pm check in, security, triage all good. Patients very rowdy, screaming at staff for their wait. One patient walking around mask off dry heaving ... x-ray tech good. Then called in back ER so busy he didn’t even get a room sat in a hallway on a bed, across from a bathroom which was dirty n bloody .. psych patient yelling, staff n security sitting to monitor those patients.. but they were texting on their cell phones which is a violation of hippa.. eating in the work area.. RN overloaded with work, attending MD poor bed side manner, yanks my dads shirt off right off in the hallway to ‘examine ‘ him. Walks him to CAT scan discharged at 830 given papers that do not reflect my dads complaints or plan of care on it. Had the wrong complaint on DC papers. The RN came over after all this said Cat scan should be soon( she then seen the DC papers sitting next to us). And apologized for it being busy. No patient needs to here that. Then after all that she got a set of vitals on him. Granted he was NOT critical, ALSO the ER was busy. BUT at what point should you defer patients to a different ER if you are inadequately staffed to care for them??
I went to my primary care physician for stomach pains. After a CT scan it was discovered that I had a ruptured appendix. The doctor told me that this was an emergency and I should get to the emergency room ASAP. I am new to the area, so on the doctor’s recommendation, I went to Albany Med. they forwarded my CT scan to AMC and I arrived at the emergency room with the IV needle still in my arm. I explained my situation at the front desk and was told to “go and wait”. It was only after my husband complained that I was admitted. The surgical team was wonderful and kind. However, the nurses in the Short Stay ward are the WORST I have ever met (and I have had multiple surgeries). They were angry, dismissive and inefficient. At one point, my IV started alarming and the male nurse came in, turned off the alarm and walked away without replacing the bag. The same thing happened when I needed help in the bathroom. This was the worst experience I have ever had and I believe that most of the nurses at the Short Stay should not be nurses. If I am conscious and have a choice, I will never go to this hospital again.
WORST job i ever had.mamagement could care less about employees. They frequently put healthcare staff in unsafe situations due to critically low staffing ratio,i love the work, but hated where it was. Its a shame cuz the patients are the ones who end up suffering in the long run..
My mother was transferred from another hospital. Right from the start we were floored by the way the residents and fellows talked down to us. There was two exceptions but most were down right rude! Then our impression of the ICU was “lock down” except for two very impressive nurses, Nicole and Dan! They treated us like outsiders! Todd was down right mean and should not be on the nursing profession! All my siblings had the same impression! Communication about our Moms care was hard to come by!! We couldn’t wait to get her transferred back home!!! In a new environment where hospital reimbursement is based on patient satisfaction, Albany Med has a long was to go! Involve family, communicate! And stop bad mouthing other medical professionals!
As much as the staff has been wonderful I began this journey in the ER at 4 today it is 12:05 and there have been long gaps in care. The person who was to draw my blood came at the same time the chest X-ray was to be done. 90 minutes later she commented I had been in there so long. I hadn’t I had been waiting in the common area finished and done then wait over an hour and half for results settled in er cubicle for another 31/2 hours and bottom line I am basically fine just my body’s reaction to a blood transfusion My family has always gone to St Peters what possessed me to go elsewhere
My mother was recently admitted to Albany Med for a hip replacement. Sometime prior to surgery her partial plate was removed and never returned to her. I filed a document with a security officer who came to Moms room. Each of my numerous inquiries over the last 6 weeks were met with its still under investigation which is moot. If it was to be found it would have been during this lengthy time frame. I wrote a registered, certified letter to Patient Advocate and Risk Management. Received a call from Lori Tropps. Her response was No documentation, no compensation !!!! . The fact that I was told it was still under investigation is proof that there was a report of lost submitted to the proper channel. I then wrote register, certified letters to both Dr. Dennis McKenna, CEO of Albany Med and James Barba Presiden Emeritus. NO RESPONSE !!!!!!!!! The partial appliance was purchased only a year ago at her out of pocket cost of $ 1800.00 Albany Med has insurance for this sort of issue. My attorney has also written a letter. NO RESPONSE. Does anyone have any information that will assist Mom in receiving compensation ?
Worst place for medical attention. Staff doesn’t care about helping you at all just taking their own personal breaks. I promise you will not be seen for hours. Most of them won’t even take your case seriously no matter how severe it is to you. They’re rude and unkind. Nobody there deserves their medical license. Seriously, put yourself first and go somewhere better.
Our recent trip to Albany Med Pediatric ER on 10/12/18 with my almost 5m old grandson. Check in was not very smooth. Two people at check- in asking different questions at the exact same time overlapping each other caused confusion. Other people who came 1.5 hours after we were there with a 7(?) year old that did not appear to be as sick were taken in before us. Even that childs father made comments to nurse asking why they were being seen before a sick infant who had been waiting a long time. Nursing & MD staff were great. But the wait time in between seeing a nurse and seeing MD were not acceptable. I completely understand that there may be an injury or illness more severe that may warrant another child to be seen as priority; but when you have a very sick infant who is crying and having trouble breathing and gagging with a severe cough and congestion I believe that almost 2 hours in waiting room is a long time to have to wait as well as hours long wait once in a room. Wait times need to drastically improve. On top of that we were in the one room that had no air flow and was uncomfortably hot. I give medical staff a 5-star rating. But as far as flow - not a great rating.
My son was close to a diabetic coma when admitted, and he had such a terrible nurse I considered finding a way to transfer him away from there. The nuse; Stacey tried to refuse a glucose test for my son which was ordered by the Dr. Until I asked how she can take it upon herself to make such a call, when we brought his phone charger, she made the comment great more work to do I have to add to the list of personal property. She also made the comment she felt my son was old enough to take care of himself, after I almost lost him, I never invited her personal thoughts on the matter, & given the circumstances she was very insensitive. The limit family visits for the ENTIRE facility to a small window of 4pm to 8pm allowing only 1 person to visit a patient, not 1 at a time, NO 1 per DAY! They make everyone wait in line to be checked in thats a line made up of all non employees entering the facilty, this line gets soo long and chunks away at your small visitation window. I am not pleased with this hospital and I dont recommend staying there
I got here at 5:30pm for a tremor that i’ve been having that’s been giving me issues due to a fall i took back in august. Didn’t see the doctor until 8:30pm, just to be told to go to a neurologist and that there’s no tests or scans they can do to help me find the issue. It wasn’t even a long conversation, not even 30 minutes. Definitely not going back here.
Albany Meds core values: I am Albany Med and I am Compassionate, Accountable, Respectful, Engaged, I Care is not what they practice. Albany Med is the most uncompassionate institution that I have ever experienced in my many years of attending hospitals for both work and personal healthcare. They need lessons on how to practice what they preach...everyone from the MDs down to the Social Workers. AVOID this hospital at all costs. I lost my Father there on Christmas Day and the only phone I received was from an Intern....not the MD, not the Palliative Care Physician.....an intern that read from a script to tell me my Father had passed at 6:00am Christmas Morning. At 4:00p, a social worker left a message for me to call at my earliest convenience.....apparently I was at the bottom of her list. This entire experience was horrific and I only hope no other family member out there will experience this lack of compassion and inappropriateness ever. Steer clear of Albany Medical Center at all costs.
If there was a way to make this 0 stars I would. My mother was a patient here for over 56 hours with an open fracture on her left ring finger. Pain management consisted of morphine and hydrocodone along with antibiotics. But to leave her in that state without doing some kind of surgery to either repair the damage or amputate they have done nothing but x-ray and ultrasound. Surgeons do NOT have a right to pick and choose their patients! They have taken the oath to HELP and TREAT patients. I have no words but how DISGUSTED and APPALLED by their lack of treatment. I do NOT recommend going to Albany Medical Center for any reason.
Please steer clear and save yourself the pain.. I cant say enough negative things about Dr. Draves if I had a month to explain. We were referred to her. She lied to us saying she would do a procedure then is only willing to do the one procedure we asked her not to do, we gave her a times line and she purposely ignored it, she didnt call back after repeated messages and then onto of screwing us over her scheduler was a b*tch and told us to take it or leave it. Avoid at all cost. Had I known she would be so bad I would have went elsewhere but in the beginning she was a lot of talk and at the end no action.
I had the pleasure of wasting my entire day in this disgusting waiting room. I came in at noon and left at 7pm without even seeing a doctor. I understand that I am young, and there were people in more dire need of help than me, however I did not expect to be completely ignored the e n t i r e day. Half the people inside were not wearing masks while openly coughing and throwing up. Even the receptionists did not wear a mask. The nurse asked ME what I thought was wrong with me, as if I was the one with medical expertise. At one point I saw a nurse asking people if they were able to get out of their wheelchairs because they were running out of free ones... do not go here if you need immediate medical attention.
My significant other had surgery today. Scheduled to be at hospital at 10 AM. Finally into OR at 2:30. He had not eaten since 9 PM the night before. He was to be on a soft diet, they brought him graham crackers and a turkey sandwich to eat. Makes no sense at all to me!@
My recent surgery at Albany Medical Center was beyond my expectations. Dr. Dirisio and his team are the very best. I was treated with utmost care and concern. They made a terrifying experience so much easier by explaining to me exactly what to expect. From the office staff to the nurses, aides, to the doctors and technicians and everyone I encountered I want to give a big THANK YOU!
Albany Med Obstetrics and Gynecology Department is hands down the worst place I have ever been to. It’s almost like the front desk has no communication with the medical staff. The front desk has no idea what’s going on. I scheduled an appointment for 11:30am, I get there, they tell me my appointment was at 11 and the doctor already left. They reschedule same day for 2:00 pm. Someone comes gives me an ultrasound and I didn’t even see the doctor, so that was a waste. I also handed them my insurance card three times. I get a bill for the ultrasound and talk to the front desk. They don’t look at my file and give me a number for the billing department. The department then tells me that no insurance is even in there. A week later, I’m still waiting on my medical information to be faxed to my new office. Absolutely clueless healthcare facility.
After being transferred there by ambulance in the middle of a snow storm from Utica, staff were extremely friendly and took the time to get to know me, started out in the ER for an hour, moved up to a double room, then after 45 minutes moved to a single. I had 2 procedures done here regarding my gallbladder and its removal. The doctors were very nice, some told jokes to keep the atmosphere light, which i really appreciated as i was really nervous. pain meds were taken care of on time besides one occasion because of a sudden influx of patients which i fully understand. They all took the time to learn my pronouns and preferred name which was amazing as i didnt even approach the subject they did themselves! every single one of my nurses during my 3 day stay was so kind. I dont understand how there could be so many negative reviews!
Woke the morning of October 20th with a very tight feeling around my stomach area. Felt like trapped gas, and I did what I could to move around and try to get relief. Within an hour or so the pain shot to the lower right and I was balled on the bed. My wife suggested appendix immediately (as she had hers removed earlier in life). So I took the short trip to urgent care for a look. They did a examination and ordered a CT w/contrast. The results came back quick. It was appendix and they called for a ambulance to take me to hospital. My first pick was ST peters, they were full, so I said Albany. I get my ride from a very nice couple of men operating the ambulance(it was Clifton Park). I’m admitted at 1:09pm. They wheel me to a “overflow area” which is a dark hallway. I was in “D2-of” spot. This is where I saw some of the most uncaring, unsanitary, rude, and blatant lack of healthcare. I witnessed multiple times healthcare providers with no mask on. I urge Albany med to investigate this. Check cameras in that hallway from 109-1000pm. I saw the surgeon around 2pm and he said yes I agree let’s get that thing out. Now I continued to lay in that spot for 8 and a half hours. My blood pressure went from 120/64 to 185/95 and my swollen appendix had now ruptured. I was finally brought upstairs To surgery at almost 11pm. Spent 2 nights In the hospital and was graciously discharged. If someone that reads this has had similar experiences please contact me thru this post. Thanks for your time. God bless.
The nurses have been more then amazing at Albany med. Wait times tend to be a little long but the nurses we have dealt with have made up for that. My Dad was airlifted quickly to Albany med and he started in the emergency room. Our first nurse, Tammy, was amazing and very sweet. We were able to see him right after he landed. Once we moved up to the neuro floor we had many wonderful nurses. Thank you to Hannah, Lyndsey, Michael, Ling, and a few others who’s name escape me!! Our social case worker, Bonnie, completely dealt with workman’s comp and updates us daily about it. Heather from physical therapy came down initially and started helping my dad while he was in neuro. She is so wonderful and he loves her energy. He has now been transferred to in-patient physical therapy and his nurses and doctors have been phenomenal and so very nice. The food options are impressive and they will switch meals immediately with you if there are any mistakes in the order. So far, we cannot say enough good things about the hospital. Thank you to the staff and especially the nurses!!!!
My mom was in the hospital they sent her home before she got better.Called patient care spoke to Seid then asked for his supervisor never called me back. When I got a hold of Nicole a week later she did not help and said she does not have a supervisor. Then I spoke to Samantha who would not let me file a complaint. When you can’t speak to the chairman to voice your concern. You know he does not care. They don’t treat their patients like human beings.
I remember everyone I met , but a job that really goes unnoticed are the transporters of patients . A guy named Josh was ours and the thought of finding my way through the hospital to where we parked after 12 hours -was a nightmare. He did everything I asked not only quickly , but efficiently and went above expectations to make sure my guy had a pillow for the travel home . He was “just doing his job” but that job is 5 jobs in 1 and he does them all with a smile . I saw him all over the hospital during the 12 hours and every time he asked me if I needed anything , I wish I had caught your last name - but I hope you know how much easier you made the end of our day there .Sincerely Sarah
I was scheduled for surgical check-in at 1:10pm. After waiting for over an hour, I went to the desk, and the woman there called back to see when I could go in. They called me in shortly after. I waited for a while, and then they put an IV in my arm. Then I waited for three hours with nobody checking on me or telling me what was going on. I ended up with a migraine since I hadn’t eaten all day. When the doctor finally arrived, he mistook me for another patient and began discussing the wrong surgery. He left to perform that surgery on another patient, and I waited another two hours. My boyfriend had to hunt someone down multiple times to find out what was going on, but all they kept telling us was 20 more minutes. They didn’t take me down to surgery until 7pm. When I woke up from surgery, there wasn’t anyone there to tell me anything. It was by far the worst experience I have had with a medical facility.
I understand not having an appointment and going to the ER that there will be a waiting period. The wait though is absolutely not even worth it. It has been over 3 hours for waiting just to get hopefully not severe but possible chemical injury checked out. At this point the wait is so long that It’s better for me to get hit by a car and be taken in by an ambulance and hopefully be seen. I hate doctors and hospitals do they really even care about patients? Or their annual salary?
I understand so many negative reviews - people are generally only at a hospital during stressful times. My father had a stroke and was brought to Albany Med from Ellis, and spent a month in ICU and a few more in normal treatment before a bed opened up at a rehab facility. I was at Albany Med 6 days a week for several hours at a time after work and not once was I disappointed in the treatment or service offered. The facility was always clean, the nurses and attendants were always responsive and understanding, and always did their absolute best to accommodate everyone - even when under pressure from HUNDREDS of other families in the same situation. There are literally HUNDREDS of processes and procedures that hospitals must adhere to, from intake to release, that are designed to protect the patients, families, and the hospital itself, and many times people fail to realize that these policies arent hoops that can just be jumped through at a whim. The staff at this hospital have saved more lives and eased the suffering of so many more; for people to leave a 1-star rant because an over-worked nurse wasnt able to bring them an apple juice in a timely manner is absurd.
This hospital is a joke. Constant negative treatment and neglect and some how still recieves funding to expand and grow. Act like the pandemic is so chaotic still when according to the state we are sitting @ less than 1% are going to choose to be lazy and do nothing to help anyone. Constant giving patient a pain killer cocktail and antibiotics like that helps cure all. Wish there was a way to boycott and have all the staff there lose there license to practice especially surgeons as they get away with picking and choosing who they operate and help. Best to avoid this hospital at all costs.
Absolutely the best hospital in the region. I was transferred here from CHM Columbia medical Health which had fail me miserably and only drugged me. After a second opinion from a spinal doctor Columbia medical health they had realized I needed either surgery or Cortizone shots. I was then transferred to Albany medical center The doctors were very informative and helpful and got me the procedures to get me from being paralyzed to being able to walk around again . I feel as if I would have been brought to AMC first I would have not suffered seven days at CMH. At Albany Med they had me in and out in 3 days . So If You have a choice and you live in the Inn between areas like I did do, go to Albany medical center, they are very professional and I appreciate their help.
I was admitted into Building B Albany Medical Center for a total hip replacement on 3-6-20.Everyone was so pleasant and was more that happy to help from the moment I got there though my release!!The nurses, PA’s , nursing assistance, kitchen employees and of course the anesthesia department and my doctor made my stay and surgery a lot less stressful. They never made me feel that my questions were too much.To B West Medical staff THANK YOU!!!!!
My boyfriend was showing some signs of appendicitis, so we went to Albany Med Emergency to be safe and catch it before it gets worse. We checked in at 9:15pm, it is now about to be 2:30am and he has yet to even be checked throughly. There is a man next to be that has been sitting in a wheel chair waiting to be placed in a bed for hours. There was also a man earlier moaning of jaw pain and they took hours to take him. Then when they took him in another room, he was still waiting and asked to be seen by someone because he had been waiting idly, in massive pain with no instruction on how long and when he would be seen. One of the security guards had put his hands on him and of course he reacted negatively towards them. He just kept requesting to see someone, since again, his jaw actively is hurting. Yet, a group of security guards grabbed him by his arms and left him outside as he was yelling. Furthermore, one of the security guards laughed about when he got back inside the building.A young female with what looks to be in pain around her stomach area. She’s shaking and try to calm herself down. As she continues to wait probably another 5 hours. In just the span of 6 hours, all I see is people not given the care they deserve. Thank god my boyfriend isn’t in too much pain to go home. Otherwise, I would have absolutely thrown a fit myself. Albany Med is not the place to visit when in an emergency situation.
I just had a cardiac ablation, followed by a three-day hospital stay to introduce anti-arrhythmic medication, at Albany Med. I cant say enough good things about the medical and support staffs of both the procedure and cardiac units. At all turns, I was treated with professionalism, compassion, dignity, and a very high level of care. I am grateful that there is such a high-level medical center as Albany Med in the region, and I will most definitely return for my ongoing health care needs.
C816 2/20First of all you should put out an RFP for a new food service mgt company. The food is terrible and so is the staff handling it.I had a lung procedure and was put on a liquid diet for dinner that night. The doctor comes in at 7AM and says things look good you can go on a regular diet. 7:45 nurse says I called and they are sending up a tray. Four requests later to the nurse and now 11:00 AM no food.I’m not sure what the problem is on this floor but forget trying to get someone to answer a call button.Short staff??Not good Albany Med!!Good doctors but from there on forget it.Some of your staff is nice and compassionate and take pride in their jobs!
I would never come here again. The staff 😒, doctors and nurses are lazy. They treat Hispanics and blacks much differently than theirs own kind. I took my mom there last night and spent over 6 hours in the waiting area with an additional 4 hours once I got to the room. They are very mean and has no type of communication skills whatsoever. I should have went to St. Peter’s because they treat us good: I wouldn’t recommend this hospital to the black nor the Hispanic groups. The staff was i.e nurses and doctors were more on their phones chatting than doing their jobs, one nurse was talking to her boyfriend while a man was having an asthma attack. Smh that’s crazy, Albany med is in deed what everyone says, it’s a killer hospital
Im not sure what this place thinks they are doing to help their patients. I am not here to bash the hospital but what i am here to do is tell my story. I arrived Sunday 5/26/19 around 8pm. I was greeted and changed into the hospital attire. I was then put on a stretcher and wheeled to hallway where i stayed for my entire visit. I was told upon my arrival that i would probably be out the next morning which made me hopeful but unfortunately that was not true. After I settled in (to my oh-so comfortable stretcher) I watched people go in and out of their assigned rooms as they were taken care of and were ready to go home. I had a lot of time to observe both the patients and staff. Many were compliant... some were belligerent and not very nice but what i noticed the most was how angry most patients were about their care. This was a shock because for someone that doesnt find themselves in the hospital often I expected sadness, hurt, trauma, HOPE, healing. What i saw was that they were angry about how long they were waiting for medical attention, they were angry about the overflow of beds causing us to spend our stay in the hallway with bright lights in our eyes, and they were angry that the nurses talked down to the patients. I personally heard a patient ask a staff to stop treating her like a child. I cringed as i heard the whole conversation and i had the same wishes for the patient. It was a hostile environment with zero privacy. I stayed quiet for most of my stay but there were points that i needed to advocate for not only myself but for others. Seems like the nurses enjoyed the power struggle. As a care manager and direct support professional myself, I understand the difference between protocol and a power struggle.Because i arrived around 8pm I was cared for by the night shift when i got here. I cant say enough how great they made a not-so-great experience become (for the time being). The staff were nice and attentive. They spoke to you like equals and made you laugh. Marcus in hall D was my nurse upon arrival. When he left at 730am i was scared as to what was next... and rightfully so! This is when the hostile talk to patients began. My next nurse was attentive. At 330pm my last nurse threatened to hold me here longer. Mind you... i have not said anything disrespectful at this point. All i asked for was what I was waiting on. Questions seem to be a point of contention around here. Bedside manner is still a thing- isnt it?I got to a point where i felt like i needed an advocate so i called another hospital for advice. Whenever I do get discharged i was told to get the name of the hospitals attorney. That seems like a little much, but almost necessary so others dont have to go through the same experience i did and others did.I will never voluntarily be at this hospital again. Cant get worse.Couldnt get a great picture of this bodily fluid on the ground but i posted what i could get.
My name is Rosemarie Baviello, and I had back surgery performed on october 6, 2020 by Dr. John Dalfino (Dr. Mcdreamy) along with an assistant which was a lady and please forgive me, I dont remember her name. I call him Dr. Mcdreamy because he saved my life many years ago and has performed two other surgeries on me. Its not because hes handsome, or has a great bedside manner, its because he takes great interest in what a patient has to say to him. Along with this I would like to thank my recovery nurses Bre, and Yesmin for taking such good care of me in recovery! I would also like to take time to say thank you to my room nurses Barbara and Kate (Mandy Moore). I went back yesterday to have the staples removed from my back, and I feel wonderful. Thank you all at Albany Med!
This Emergency room is god awful here!!!. The Nurse Manager Tracey Jean- Charles is unbelievably unprofessional!!!!! My daughter is a college student and went here because she was ill and we were told that they are short staffed and we would have to wait 9++ hours and to deal with it. I would never go back and will FOR SURE be contacting the CNO and Joint Commision on this awful hospital!!!!!!!!
Medical Care Good - Administration Is A Nightmare!Making an appointment- they required a referral (my insurance didnt). My primary sent it immediately - they failed to tell me upfront things they needed in addition. My neurosurgeon sent records, they denied getting them. After a satisfactory medical visit. They started sending me bills, despite insurance covering visit. They transposed my birthdate (1/21 versus 12/1). Insurance company has called them two times, Ive sent two letters and made a call myself. Still havent fixed, still sending collection letters to me.Incompetence reigns here. administratively. (My daughter was an RN there - they have wonderful medical staff...)
Just missed an important Albany Med Urology procedure appointment this AM because they DO NOT list procedure appointments on their patient portal. Why not list ALL Albany Med patient appointments? Was told by their IT department that they hadn’t figured out how to do that yet, but they did agree it would be helpful. Come on! You’re playing with people’s health here, get it done.
Monday afternoon my two year old daughter fell and split her face open above her lip. Urgent care directed us to Albany Med because she would need to see a plastic surgeon for stitches as it was a deep wound. We arrived at AMC at 4:45 for intake. Went through intake, told her we were sent there for stitches, they never looked at her wound and sent us into the back waiting room with two other families. By 6:30pm we had no updates and hadn’t heard any information on when we would be seen. My daughters bandage from UC was bleeding through so I asked the front desk if someone could give her a new bandaid. They put a new bandage on and sent us back into the waiting room. By 8:00pm the room was packed, they were bringing patients from the check in room into the back, but myself and the two families there before us were still waiting among others. After the parents repeatedly asked staff for information on when people would be seen, many who thankfully advocated for my daughter to be seen with her split open lip, we finally got a room at 8:55. We then sat in the room for THREE MORE HOURS with nothing. No ice for swelling, no reliable news on when someone would see us. At 12:30 my daughters father finally went to the front desk absolutely irate that we had been there for 8 hours for stitches. A doctor came in and told us his attitude was not appreciated in a pediatric unit and they were hesitant to do anything under the conditions. When we again explained that we had been there since 4:45 with an open wound they finally gave her medication to relax her to stitch her up. I have NEVER seen such an unorganized system in my life. We were seen well after the time frame for getting stitched in a timely manner and the lack of communication between staff and parents was unreal. Had I known that we wouldn’t even be seeing a plastic surgeon, we would have gone else where hours before. This was also the hospital I have been going to for OB appointments and I will surely be transferring out of that department as well. There is no reason a 2 year old should sit swollen and bleeding for 8+ hours with no information on what is going on.
I have many problems with Albany Med, but the main one is with Radiology. Every single time my brother has had an appointment there, which has been many, the lack of respect shown is ridiculous. They show lack of respect by scheduling an appointment at 10 am (example) and finally take him in 3 hours later!! That is not respecting a patient. Dont tell us youre short staffed, not our problem. When we request that we have the procedure done at another hospital, and are told no by Albany Med, because this procedure must be done at Albany Med, then this happens every damned time??? Im over it. Our time is obviously not as valuable as theirs.
I called the customer service/financial aid and the lady I had was extremely rude on the phone. I definitely handled that because I don’t tolerate disrespect. I was calling because I paid my bill for one of my appointments and they keep sending me the same bill when I paid it. However, when I told them it was paid the lady had nothing to say but tried to argue that I need to call my bank. Also, this place is dirty and overall ew! If you want a local hospital go to St. Peter’s
I agree with garbage guy. They’re definitely not known for their speedy service. We’ve been here since 9:30 am and it’s almost 3:40 pm now. Haven’t seen a doctor, they keep telling us to wait and wait and wait. Bathroom was dirty, the nurses sat around as I watched them for the longest time on their phones talking about cruses. They’re starving my DIABETIC sister, AND they didn’t even test her blood sugar levels. For an emergency room no one seems to be acting like it’s an emergency. We’ve had better luck at emurgent care. The only good thing about this visit so far is that the receptionist when we checked in this morning was very nice. Also, parking is NO WHERE NEAR EASY. Does anyone actually look at these? Or is this going to be another CMH hospital where their known for people going there to die. If I could put negative stars I would.
Do not go to this hospital for birth care. I repeat, do not go. Their are some nurses that are good, but the overall experience will be terrible. They don’t listen to anything you say to them and treat you like you are a moron. Do yourself a favor and please head my words, please do not go to this hospital for birthing, you will be sorely disappointed and regret it.
7/19/2019My daughter was air-lifted to this hospital after a severe car accident.things went fine in trauma room, had cat scan done and found skull fracture, 3-breaks in orbital bones, broken nose, and broken wrist.when she was transferred to 6th fl. is when the frustration began. A cast was put on her wrist, then cut open as they were preparing for surgery on her face. We were told they were going to do the surgery, then advised that they would not do the surgery, because as we live on Long Island, and we could not come up for 4-weeks for follow-up visits... Between the trauma dept, plastic surgery dept, and orthopedic dept, one did not know what the other was doing in regards to my daughters care. At this point we could not get any answers on what the next step would be. We continually we being told we paged the Dr and they will get back to you...this is what we were told for 2-days. The only person who was amazing and helpful was RN Jake Paquette, who went out of his way in keeping my daughter comfortable. Her daytime nurse kathy Dart became agitated and made faces when we asked questions, and her constant response of I dont know and lack of urgency makes me think it is time for retirement. When we asked for recommendations of where we can go on Long Island were met with that is your choice as opposed to finding someone that can help with the surgeries my daughter would need, so needless to say we spent 1 1/2 days calling hospitals and doctors that can help my daughter. When we found Doctors on Long Island that were willing to take my daughters case, I needed info and records to be sent to them., and requested care mgr Anne Frigolette to send this info, again it was met with no sense of urgency, and a bad attitude.I had to have my daughter discharged and had to drive her myself from Albany to North Shore Medical Center in Manhasset to be admitted on Wednesday night in a torrential storm.I have already contacted a lawyer in regards to the lack of care received at this facility, and would not recommend anyone to go there for any reason.... The 1-star is for Jake only......
Terrible. Waited in E.R. for 7hrs with my husband. Was told by my husbands doctor who practices at Albany med to go to the E.R. The E.R. docto1 r tried to brush off my husband and send him home when he was finally called in. Doctors got mad At my husband for getting upset when they tried to send him home after waiting all that time, then the doctor told other people that worked with him that he did not care what they did with my husband. They stuck him in A room for 2 days with no treatment. When asked for treatment told him what he wanted to hear. Never followed through After 2 days gave him A catscan. Told him he was fine and sent him home. It was ridiculous.we called A nurse in while I was with him and she never came in. WHAT A waste of time and money. They admitted they do not have A system and only help the people that are in dire need first. I will never do that again.
Great doctors in the birthing center. (No I have not had baby yet, but got sent there due to preeclampsia symptoms and high blood pressure) was negative of preeclampsia but I do have high blood pressure. Anyway, the one nurse I had didn’t know how to give IV and it still hurts to this day. And I was put in a room with no AC and it was very hot that day. And mantiance came in and they turned the AC on for a minute then it shut back off and I asked again and nobody came in and they just left like it wasn’t a big deal. Then I asked to use the shower cause the needle actually made me sweat from all the pain cause they did it in the wrong spot three times and they wouldn’t let me use the shower. Aside from that, the rooms aren’t very clean they smell funny and look dirty. But The regular midwife delivery nurse was very nice though. Loved her. It’s not the worst hospital but it definitely could be better. Especially how dirty it was. I did not like that one bit.
In 2008 I came here to give birth to my daughter. I was induced. They wouldnt let me eat anything but ice chips and drink water while I was in labor for 36 hours and pushing for 8 hours. Doctors apparently dont know how to check dilation because they said I was 5cm, then 2 hours later said I was as 3cm. I called him (he was my doctor until my obgyn shows up) out on it, he said nothing and left the room. During the 8 hours pushing, my mom and husband were watching the whole time and said there had been no progress at all. I knew something was wrong and said I think I should have a C-section. The rude nurse gave me an nasty attitude We dont just hand out C-sections. Apparently they just hand out jobs to people with no compassion, she was obviously in the wrong profession. I begged for a C-section, but they couldnt do it without my doctor seeing me. All staff left me in my room...in labor...for over 30 minutes. I was in active labor, my body still pushing..what if my daughter finally came out? I screamed for help every time I my body was pushing because I feared for my daughters life because they left me alone. My doctor finally came in, made me push a few times and saw for herself there was no progress. She promptly ordered a C-section, and thankfully my daughter came out fine. I have always had issues with my lady parts, Ive suffered from PCOS since I was a teen and was told I would likely never get pregnant, and if I did, I might not be able to carry it full term. I found out later that my uterus is backwards and the staff at Albany med trying to force me to push when I knew something was wrong could have KILLED me, especially when they left me alone for over 30 minutes. Doctors and nurses think they know it all. I got news for you...we know our own bodies better then any doctor, so when a patient tells you something is wrong...you can either believe them or be sued. I should have sued back then and contacted the news about being left alone in active labor for over 30 minutes.
Was very excited to learn of this wonderful option for families with children in need of emergency care. Especially since the website boosts ‘ready access’ to services - any parent would be thrilled at not having their child suffer through long waits in the waitingroom, especially while sick or injured, in an unfamiliar place. That was just what we were hoping for when we brought our 4 year old on a Monday evening. Instead, the intake (possibly, nurse?) coordinator, recommended alternate care, before our daughter was examined, or even left the waiting room! She said that the current wait time was at least four hours. She instead suggested calling our pediatrician’s on-call for an immediate morning appointment or urgent care, when they open. Seriously? In truth, I appreciated her honesty and everyone was polite and professional BUT if you’re scared/worried/concerned enough to bring your child to the ER, do you really want to be told there is a 4-5 hr wait time and recommended to go elsewhere without being seen?I’m sure (or, at least, I hope) that this is simply the result of a new practice working out the kinks but, when is okay to work though the kinks when it comes to the care of children?Back to St. Peter’s, until I hear better....UPDATE: after leaving AlbanyMed, we stopped at St. Peter’s ER and within 20 minutes of arriving, we were triaged and given a room. At least we have two hospitals within blocks of each other.
Saved my life more than once in the emergency room, and several times on the operating table with extensive surgeries. The nurses are the best I have ever encountered, compassion and professionalism all around! I only go to Albany med now even though I live nearly 45 mins away and could quickly go to Ellis which is only 4-5 mins. My many experiences with both hospitals lead me back to Albany med and it is who I refer friends and family to often.
This hospital sucks. My son was sent here from another hospital. We were in the triage area for almost 2 hours before going to a room. We were told that the nurse would be right in. We are still waiting after 15 minutes while nurses are just standing around talking. My definition of right in is definitely different than the medical staffs.
Suffered a TBI, had a horrible experience, had my purse stolen by an employee who took my apartment keys and stole my vehicle, this employee was the mother of a coworker both of whom took advantage of me.Had the Social worker bothered to follow up or if the staff on the unit bothered to pay attention. The outcome of my recovery and treatment would have been much better. Dont trust this hospital with the care of your TBI survivor loved ones.
If you come to ER for any reason the front desk staff does not know how much time it will take to see a doctor l am waiting for last 3/4 hours. This is called ER. Because they need a compact room for check up and to make a good bill to make money from the insurance company.ER that means a bill should be more than $10000.00 not less then that this is AMC ER.
Albany Medical Center saved my life. The nurses Doctors and house keepers were all terrific. I felt so fortunate to live in New York State where we have access to state of the art medical care. Its true some of the food is bland , it must be, they are not going to satisfy anyones craving for salt. But if you order well for example roast beef on a flour tortilla it is very tasty. GREAT PLACE , IM ALIVE !!!
I would give less than one star, if I could. This is not something that I normally believe in doing, but I cant let another family go through what ours endured. In the middle of June, my Mother was admitted into this hospital. The trauma unit as a transfer from another hospital for a MINOR tear in her esophagus. They put her in a room and FORGOT about her for 13 hours. It wasnt until she went into cardiac arrest because of a Pulmonary edema that they realized she was there. They almost killed her. Even worse, the doctors and nurses told me that it was their error. They told me it was their negligence. She missed more than a MONTH of work. She had multiple surgeries to repair all the damage. I mostly got apologizes and ‘we well won’t let it happen again’… A person shouldn’t have to almost die before they are treated properly. We contacted several lawyers about a mal-practice law suit but they told us that the cost of the lawsuit would be more expensive than the settlement because she did end up recovering. They almost killed her and there is nothing anyone can do about it.She might be just a number to lawyers and the doctors who almost killed her but she is my Mom and she means the world to me.To add insult to injury, they lost her dentures while they were shuffling her around trying to cover their butts. Dental work is extremely costly and they were about $2000. She filed an insurance claim with the hospital and they said they needed to do an investigation. It took them MONTHS to decide that they would pay for the loss. And now… despite having said she would be reimbursed they have not paid and avoiding her phone calls. They always are in a meeting or have some excuse. All she wants is that check so she doesn’t have to be embarrassed and without teeth in public.I think that Albany Med has made her suffer enough. Write the check. It’s, literally, the least you could do.
Brought my 21 year old son there . He was told from Albany Emerg-care. In Brunswick. . To go there because possible need surgery. He fell off a dirt bike in lots of pain . Did this at 6:30 at night . Went to Emergency room at AMC at 6:45 .. was checked in ( name blood pressure) after 2 hours. Then waited ..and waited and waited ..(In lots of pain .. ) is repeatedly asking if he could get pain med . They said no you need to be seen first waited a total of 5 hours yes 5 HOURS AND STILL WAS Not seen . Still waiting . I went up and said that my son has been sitting for 5 hours and still wasn’t seen . I’m taken him out of there .. and all they said was ok that’s your choice. We left . Went to Samaritan Hospital in Troy. . He was brought right in and seen and treated all with in 40 mins ! I am so disappointed in Albany Med . Not satisfied with them at All ! Rude uncaring. Crazy hostile people. Not happyK.Coonrad
My daughter was released last evening after being a month. Well, the whole time it was nothing but problems, it was explained to them that my daughter has difficulty understanding a lot of what is said. So, they were instructed by my daughter and myself to call me with everything and when each nurse came on shift after seeing her for an update and the doctors after they saw her. Also for the surgeon to call me when she came out from the 2 emergency surgeries. My daughter was in serious condition and she has several medical conditions. Well, I never received one phone call!! Then she was having some blood in her stool for 3 days and the nurses just kept saying its just a small hemorrhoid dont worry about it. They never said anything about it to any of the doctors and didnt put it in her chart. Finally, on the third day I got her to tell the first doctor that came in. That doctor asked her a few questions then said ok and did nothing. In the mean time for a week they were telling her that she was being discharged and going to rehabilitation. Day 4 came and I told her to tell them she IS NOT leaving until they find out why she is having blood in her stool. Day 5 I happen to be on the phone with my daughter when the doctor came in and I told the doctor she is not leaving until they do testing or whatever they need to do to get me a satisfactory answer as to what is going on. She claimed that she saw this in her chart yesterday so she had ordered a stool sample and a blood test for a red cell count and, that was the reason she had come in. She looked for the hemorrhoid the nurses claimed she had and, did not find any. So, the answer I got was, I think its hemorrhoids or irritation of the colon wall from the diarrhea and she doesnt see any blood rite now. Before the doctor came in we were told that neither of the 3 rehabilitation places they use does dialysis and doesnt want to learn. So because they know that I was a nursing/medical assistant & EMT for over 30 years, they released her to me and ordered a visiting nurse every 2 days to help me change the wound vac bandages (two person job) and pt & it at home. I told the doctor if she wants to just take a guess at it and it just so happens that after she gets home and there happens that there is a good amount of bright red blood in the toilet, there will be problems. She went back by ambulance 3 hours after getting home! We got the same diagnosis! I pray that it resolves itself. Albany Medical Center IS NO LONGER#2 JUST UNDER MASS GENERAL, THEY ARE NOW AT THE BOTTOM WITH BASSETT HOSPITAL & COBLESKILL REGIONAL!!!!¡After she was in the hospital for 29 days then my house for rehab 21 days and would have been continuing but she was just rushed back to the hospital for a huge infected cyst, acute nausea, acute dry heaving but if she tries to eat even crackers or soup it comes up after just 2 bites, and low grade fever, and slight dehydration. I hope for there sake they get it right this time!
Went to the emergency room in February 2019 in an ambulance complaining about my back hurting & right leg felt numb, I was in full tears from continuous crying the night before because the pain was so bad. They took a little bit over an hour in the waiting room to see me, I was crying so hard that other people waiting kept coming up to me saying they were gunna pray for me and telling the receptionist to let me go first before them, only to put me in a stretcher in the hallway, ran no tests, gave me some lidocaine and ibprofen and then told me to go see my pcp. A day later I dropped to the floor because it was a herniated disc & got worst within that day and then it paralyzed me. 2 and a half years later Im still partially Paralyzed
This place for my uncle , was trash food tasted good. They were very rude to my uncle and refused to give him his medicine for 9 hours (18 half hours/ 135 quarter hours/530 mins/1060 half minutes/31800 seconds/ 31800000 miliseconds) The nurses name was tim he is a bad nurse. They never answered the call button. All but good and carefulness. Lung pump was painful, they took it in and out on several times. Dont go here go down the street to st.peters.On a scale of 1 to 36 i would give 3 stars (about 1.222222222222 google stars)
The receptionist at the ER is extremely rude and needs a empathy training. In all honesty she should work in a different field if she does not have patience. Including some of the nurses that check you in are rude. Is AMC not paying or treating you well? Is that why youre taking out on us sick patients. Enough is enough already. This lack of empathy has gone on for too long !!Er wait time are extremely long and ridiculous I dont understand. Do you know have enough Doctors/NursesDoes anyone truly care about the patients?Or is it about money ?
My daughter sees many Drs. from outpatient services. Since when has it been a normal to not inform the patient that there Dr that they have seen for 20 has left. This has happened twice with 2 different Dr in 6 months. Went to one Dr yesterday to only be informed when asked for booking appointment for next year. ugggg
Im not going to mention the doctors name due to the formal grievance I plan on filing, but after we were referred by my pediatrician for a persistent fever my five year old was experiencing, she was seen by a doctor and all was well until they found out she was insured by Medicaid. After that the observations initially made by the doctor became inconclusive so no tests would be run. Albany med has made it abundantly clear that there is more than one standard of care at their facility and if youre poor, you will not receive the same care as someone who is not.
Bedside manors of nurses are terrible, they have no compassion for patients. The hospital is very dirty and just seems unsanitary. The ER is the worst ever. Whatever happened to communicating to waiting patients. Staff could do a better job of communicating when the wait is going to be over 4 hours. It is ok to maybe suggest another hospital for patients to go to. I came with my daughter who has had all her children there, but only because she was high risk. We waited 4 hours and there were people there for 4 hours prior.??? something is wrong with that. Maybe the triage nurses need to be educated more on what is priority. And taught that it is ok to have compassion for people. Somehow that seems to be on the bottom of their list. AMC you need to practice compassion skills, and communication.
I have been here more times than I would like to admit. Everything from minor visits, to a trauma visit after a motorcycle accident, to emergency surgery. The nurses that have tended to me have always been caring and helpful (both female and male nurses). The nursing staff is really what makes or breaks a hospital experience, and some of these nurses are absolutely amazing. The doctors were efficient and treat you with respect. While everyone has their horror stories about bad experiences at a hospital, or long ER waiting times, this hospital still stands above most. As long as I have a choice of hospitals, I will go to Albany Med.
I had to be transferred from CMH. The care I was given at Albany Med was terrific. Great support staff, wonderful nurses. Food not so good. And beds are not as up to date as they could be. The whole hospital needs an upgrade internally. But very thankful to the folks who took such good care of me, especially those down in VIR.
Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. This is a great hospital. Dr. Adamo and the neurosurgery team are amazing. PICU is very nice and the staff is informative, friendly and well educated. I trust this hospital and feel very comfortable with allowing them to care for my loved ones and myself.
A month and a half ago.. I went there as my doctor sent me there, to see a specialist. I ended up in the ER where they asked some of my history, and decided to put me in overflow as my symptoms were an emergency. I was there from 10:00am to 12:00am, and during that time.. the nurses OD’d me on 3 different medications - 1 of which I had a severe anaphylactic shock too as I was allergic too, but they gave me anyways (and they just sat there and watched me), didn’t administer anything to stop it. Finally a doctor came over to check on me. To which later on that doctor apologized to me because she couldn’t believe that they gave me that much. The original reason I was in the ER was unrelated to my prior health issues that made them rush me in for a CT scan. They thought I had an issue with clotting due to my extensive history of traveling, and after I asked if it’s possible for a clot to go from the legs to the head and was told not unless there’s a hole in my heart (which there is not), they did put a stat order on ruling out a clot in my lungs.. again, not what I was in for. This entire time I had an IV in my right arm, and asked numerous times if they nurse could clamp it as it was backing up and she told me she had trauma patients to attend to and I was lower priority. It wasn’t until I went back for CT scan, that BOTH people I saw there were the best people I saw my whole stay. The guy said he felt the IV backing up and that wasn’t good, who could feel clotting in my veins and that would cause me problems later on. So he drained my IV twice, and the woman assisted. Afterwards I was returned, and for them to be concerned about me having a clot in my lungs - I didn’t get my results for 6 HOURS!! A man came over and told me he was a doctor and I had no clot in the lungs, so I said great since that’s not why I was there, but was going to follow up with a specialist for why I was in. I asked to be discharged as I had been there over 12 hours at that point, (mind you he’s the “doctor” who told me there was no chance of me having a clot on my brain). He then told me it wasn’t recommended I be discharged and I asked why if they ruled clots out. He then said my D’dimer was still elevated and I said well it could be from infection as I know D’dimer can tip for a number of reasons. He agreed, but said he didn’t feel safe sending me home because I could have clotting on the brain, and I said you just said the chances were less than 0% and he said yes, but it can start on the brain. All while telling me if I discharge against their orders, then the insurance won’t pay. I was so upset because I said the money aspect is not important, my health is and he said yes, but we won’t get paid. I said I’ve been here longer than you and not by choice, I’m not getting paid to be here. He then kept urging me to wait around for an MRI or CT scan of the head, and I said I just want to be at home with my child and he told me he’d call a social worker and send them to be with my child while I was there. Who even says something like that??? He tries to tell me that if I have bleeding on the brain, I won’t be there for my child and to just have this done. I told him I didn’t believe that because he was saying it was connected to the real reason I was there except my issue was with my ear, and it had been going on for a month.. so if that was the case, I would have already been dead with bleeding on the brain for a month. At that point I was very upset, and shaking because I was in such disbelief. I ended up discharging myself after 14 hours, found out he was a STUDENT in training, the medicine they OD’d me on didn’t even wear off until the following afternoon at 3pm time. So for over 24 hours I was drugged up on medicine, & that’s not the worst part. Since that visit I ended up with clotting in my right arm, which I was told by another doctor would heal in 2 weeks, it has now been 6 weeks and it is getting worse, not healing, and the rest of my arm and hand are becoming immobile. I am headed to a surgeon next week. I will NEVER return to AMC again!!!
If there was a rating lower than one it would be my rating. I’m at Albany Med due to the loss of my fiancé a few days ago from covid. I am here for psych reasons waiting to get into a specialized psychological treatment facility for my depression. I tested covid positive even though I haven’t had symptoms in two weeks. Obviously this is not their fault and I have to wait until I’m covid free until I can go to the other facility. However, what is their fault is the “treatment” they are providing me. They know one of my plans of suicide was not to drink or eat. Instead of putting me on IV fluids all they did was say, “Are you still not eating or drinking?” and walked out of the room. They allowed my to carry my plan out. I have resumed eating a drinking for my parents, yet today they did not bring my lunch. There are some 1:1s that are good. I need to have one due to the fact that I am suicidal. Others have fallen asleep, taken off their masks, shields, and gloves (may I remind you that I am covid positive which is why I’m not on the psych floor), and another left a plastic bag on the table next to me which of course I tried to commit suicide with... hello, extremely suicidal. I see the nurse in the morning for meds and at night for meds. That’s the only time. Last night I had to remind them to give me my meds, which were an hour late. I also have to remind staff to take my vitals because they forget to do it. I have spoken to two psych counselors/doctors who asked the same exact questions. Yesterday my doctor called for a 5 minute “counseling session” where all he did is pretty much just ask if I was still suicidal. No one will tell me what’s going on. I have no clue. I ask questions but no one can give me answers as to what my treatment is or what they are doing. Now don’t get me wrong, I give medical personnel and essential workers all the credit in the world, especially now. My fiancé was an essential worker in the medical field. But this is not ok. I’m in here for psychological help because I’m suicidal and they are letting me continue.
I was a trauma patient. The doctors and staff were outstanding. Everything from pain management to the food I was served was excellent. The doctors, nurses and patient services people were all very nice and exceptionally kind and considerate. Getting hurt sucks. They did a amazing job of treating me and helping me recover. Much gratitude. Nice people and very skilled in what they do. I cannot thank them enough.
I been here a few times for different surgeries but this last time was a terrible, terrible experience. The Doctors were wonderful as were most of the nurses. However one nurse inpeticular acted very unprofessional by talking about my situation loud enough to a coworker. He had questioned my pain management to the point he was making decisions as rot when I got my meds an how much I got. When the night prior the orders had been adjusted to better manage my pain because it got out of control at one point. But a kind nurse In short stay named Cheryl spent a lot of time and effort into getting me comfortable. Unfortunately a not so kind nurse named Chris C. Made my stay there in short stay BB EXTREMELY MISERABLE AND UNCOMFORTABLE. I DONT RECOMEND SHORT STAY BB AT AMC.
Literally no respect for patients in the e.r. we have been sitting here for 5 hours I have seen a significant amount of people on their phones, little to no information. I got blood work done and an ultrasound done 3 hours ago.I understand they have several patients and things going on. But 5 hours....not one person has even talked to us.
The doctors kept me in the dark about what would be happening next during my labor induction . I had to wait hours to get an actual doctor to come talk to me about what was going to happen next. They messed up my foley bulb induction and had to re-do it twice. Also, a resident doctor had the nerve to mock me about me letting her “stick her fingers in my vagina” after I told the nurse that I found her demeanor abrasive. Talk about petty. Just another young doctor who thinks they are “woke” and want to help women, but in the end has no compassion for those women’s feelings during a very emotional time. This was my third birth experience (first one at Albany Med) and my worst. The nurses were nice, but it couldn’t make up for the terrible experience I had with the doctors.
I have a granddaughter that has global development disabilities. She required a pediatric neurologist along with a geneticist. I cannot say enough good about both physicians. Dr. Pugh is friendly, professional, a listener and most of all an excellent doctor, very knowledgeable. I never felt rushed. He is genuine and is a blessing to the department. Thank you so much Dr. Pugh for everything you have done for us.Dr. Adams was also a great listener and helped us in our time of need.We had visited another hospital in Syracuse however once at Albany Medical the choice was clear who was best.I give both departments 5 stars. We never waited more than 15 minutes and all staff has always been extremely helpful.
I have had the opportunity to use the services of the ER, Radiation, Surgical, Vascular unit during my dad illness. Most departments are customer focused and the experience were good. Social worker on the vascular unit were very insensitive, disrespectful and appeared untrained. However the attendants, patient care, nurses and doctors have done an awesome job.
I would never recommend that anyone needing inpatient care go to Albany Medical Center. The Emergency Room treatment wasnt so bad, but if you get admitted youre in for a really rough ride. I know, because Im a good writer, it probably sounds like Im not an individual in a lot of pain, but please do not be fooled because Im very bad off. And if youre in need of pain medication and youre black, forget about it because you will be treated like a drug addict--not just by white faculty, (intact you would do better if your nurses are white) but by the Black, Asian, and whatever other nationality that is employed as nurses there. You could be crying out in pain, and the nurses will not call a doctor to see if your scripts can be strengthened. Thus, you will suffer. If you call the number they provide you with for patient concerns, trust me your concerns will fall on death ears--and thats if they even direct you to someone in charge, where they will more than likely direct you to the very nurses station that hasnt answered your call button for the last 45 minutes to an hour (I once waited an hour and 37 minutes and three times hitting the call button for my nurse, who said he only just heard about me needing him--maybe, maybe not). This is all day long treatment, but that same type of treatment is even more astonishing once the 7:00pm to 7:00am shift comes on. Now I will be perfectly honest, they never treated any of the people house next to me so badly, but who wants to take a chance at being the one they feel is a pain in the behind patient and run the risk of being mistreated. I can tell you for certain I was 95% independent, where I could use the bathroom--with a good deal of pain--on my own, my family changed my linens and cleaned my bathroom, (a shared bathroom at that) and I washed and re-bandaged myself, etc. Thus, I could not have possibly been too much of a pain in anyones behind. The only time, in fact, I rang my call bell was to ask for something I had been prescribed by a doctor or a doctors assistant. Funny thing is, while this started before a botched surgery was performed on me, it was far worse after. I wont go into the specific details of what happened to me in the Albany Medical Center operating Room, but I will say this, I was told, verbatim, Were certain we see [this] on your your MRI, so we want to go in and do [said] operation. I told them I didnt want to have the operation done because I know what they were looking for was not going to be there. Under threat of zero treatment for what I actually went to the hospital for to have remedied if I did not agree to first have above mentioned operation done, I agreed to do the operation. The operation was performed, and, just like I had told them, what they were going in to look for was not there. Thus, they pushed me to have an unnecessary operation done, even though I advised otherwise, under threat of further neglect of actual problem which needed to be treated, only to find out that what I told them was 100% accurate--that surgery was not needed. I know most people will not read this entire missive--and I dont blame you--and that some still will have their biases against what Im saying based upon their own favorable treatment at Albany Medical Center, but for those who do read this and with and open mind, I hope Ive been of service to you.
Used to praise Albany Med. Had a procedure done yesterday, and the radiology Dr was great but had an allergic reaction to contrast. He call the er dept, arranged transport, and advised the er dr this was a known allergy and i was medicated before test to help prevent it but unfortunately it did anyway. Moved to the er, had to reregister and told to wait in waiting room behind the others. Asked how long it could be...told 2-3 hrs. Staff there was extremely rude when asked question. I dressed in bathroom from procedure done, and left. Asked for directions to get back to main bldg entrance, and the woman at desk said, follow the signs, cant you read.Unacceptable practice by this hospital. Was driven to Ellis hospital after using my OWN Epi Pens for further treatment where it began as soon as I went to desk. Will Never go to Albany Med again! PRAISE to Ellis for all their care, compassion, quick treatment, and professionalism.
Had a daughter admitted into the PICU, and the only advice Id give to any other parent is that you dont leave your childs side, and know that only you have an unbiased love for your child. We experienced stress, undue burdens, and attempted unnecessary procedures. Not all the staff was as bad as the first Nurse we had that never gave my daughter a call button and had my wife sleeping in our van in the parking garage. The surgeon went far and above her duties to get my wife out of the parking garage the morning of surgery. The level of communication with us was Non existent even after meeting with the nurse managers and Multiple Drs. They simply did not know how to involve us in the care she was receiving there, and Had I not stayed awake and by her side especially in the PIUC I have no doubt that shed still be there.
Id give them no stars if I could. Was sent here by other hospital by ambulance for emergency surgery. Didnt happen. I was given medicine that I kept saying I couldnt take. Not let me eat or drink anything for 2 days because of surgery that didnt happen. They wouldnt get my medical records from other doctors. One of the doctors even said that if I didnt smoke that they would do the surgery they lied. They dont feel comfortable doing surgery on me even though I need it. This place is a joke I wouldnt go here if this was the only and last hospital in the world I would rather die than go here ever again.
My mother had her knee replacement surgery at Albany Medical Center and the staff all treated her so well and with great respect. I would highly recommend this portion of the hospitals services and would definitely go here if I needed such a procedure done. Her doctor was great, all of the nurses who attended her were amazing, and the on site occupational and physical therapy are partially why I am on track to get my own doctorate of physical therapy. Thank you!
The security team was very UNPROFESSIONAL sexual conversations while people are sitting in the ER. it was shocking. My doctor was cool as hell and so were the nursing staff but the wait time was ridiculous 6 hours for eye drops. Plus another hour to get the script filled pretty sad.
Bad reviews are absurd, think about the entitlement issues these people have. All my doctors are at AMC, they teach what they practice. I have never met one that did not satisfy my high standards. Every ER can be chaotic and, although I have not been in AMC ER, I know of several people whose lives were saved there. There are people coming to AMC physicians from other states and Canada. I trust my doctors and I am extremely cautious with trust in health care. You are not the only patient. If the Doctor takes time with his or her patients and that causes a reasonable delay in your appointment, be happy. That Doctor is going to spend time with you, too. I grew up in NYC and lived on Long Island for 21 years. I know what a good doctor is. You will find them at AMC.
Absolutely the worst ER !! I once bled out in the hallway for 4 hours and this time I come in with severe abdominal pain, nausea, dizziness, and bleeding. I waited for over 2 1/2 hours in the hallway then when asked what was taking so long I was told, your case is a little different so you have to wait. I wont come to the ER again.
I was in Albany Medical Center CCU for 5 days. I received excellent care from the team of doctors to the nurses. One particular nurse, I wont mention name due to the fact I dont have her approval, went above and beyond her duties. She helped me out of bed (when it was safe to do so) and helped me walk around so i could gain back my strength. Answered all my questions, printed out information for me so i could understand new medications. This in addition to treating me like a human being, someone who had a brain and a right to use it. To her I say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will never forget you and the kindness you showed me and my hug goodbye. God Bless.
So after a 12 hour wait we finally gotten discharged. My girlfriend and I where kept in the hallway with no nurse bell around. Nobody came to check on her only after me walking up to the desk and getting someone for her. The staff simply doesnt care and is ALL college kids except for the doctors ofcourse. My back was hurting so much from sitting in the chair I asked for a recliner and waited 2 hours for that until I MYSELF walked around and gotten one. The place is filthy and the food is nasty will be posting pics soon. Ive had it with the lack of care we received and I will not be returning. Albany med isnt what it used to be.
Horrible experience in the ER. I have never seen nor experienced such a poorly unstaffed operation. The administration should be ashamed of themselves.Had to turn off our own IV machine. My wife didn’t want to take an opiate / hydrocodone and after an hour and a half of waiting for a simple med change to an ibuprofen 800 was forced to take the hydrocodone because she was in such pain
Unfortunately I had to ER. They kept me there for four hours but could not figure out why I was having chest pain. Its been more that three weeks and I am still in pain. They sent me bill for five thousands dollars. These guys are waste of time and money. You go to ER they do nothing unless you are dying. They make you sit for hours bill you and send home. I would suggest go to St Peters Hospital.
The service was appalling. My younger brother went in with chest pain and the staff was completely inadequate. I had to put him back on the cardiac monitor myself. I was monitoring his blood pressure, he was grabbing his chest in pain and I sat with him for several hours and he was only checked on once. Never given a call bell to call for help . As a RN myself I was saddened by the poor basic nursing care or lack there of. What nurse pushes morphine for chest pain and does not come back to check on the patient. When a family member has not bothered you once but has important information to give you you dont roll your eyes and give an attitude where the family can see you. Be the professional you are.
The hospital was filthy beyond belief. I could not use the bathroom because there was urine all over the toilet and floor, when reported to the nurse, she agreed it was filthy but did nothing to correct it even though there was a janitor moping the ER floor nearby. And I saw a great difference in how Black and Hispanics were treated by a few employees. I found it shocking that blatant prejudice was allowed to occur in a hospital. If I didn’t see it and even hear it I would not have believed it.I would never use that hospital again. I could say more but my blood pressure goes up too much when I think of it,
Spent 8 hours on a stretcher in the ED hallway, listened to a man in the room next to me die, saw him carried out in a stretcher under a sheet an hour or two later. There were sliding glass doors to the ED rooms, but staff never closed them, so no privacy. I heard the medical accounts of several patients over the course of those 8 hours. They hardly checked in with me, never updated me on wait times for testing, wouldnt let me eat until it was okd by the Dr. but unfortunately they werent communicating with each other. I was there for abdominal pain, was told it sounded like kidney stones, but after 8 hours of waiting and only 1 hour of actual testing, they sent me home. I felt trapped, and I still have no solid answers. Go to Saratoga Hospital instead if you have the choice.
My husband was transferred here from another hospital after having a stroke. Had I known it was that I would’ve driven him here myself. The staff were always kind to us through our many questions and concerns, he was transferred to different units (stroke unit, seizure unit, etc.) in a timely manner and seen by many different doctors. They performed every test they could to try and find the cause of his blood clot that lead to the stroke. My husband wasn’t an easy patient either, after being in there for a week he was very irritable and not too pleasant to be around, but they still remained polite and attentive. The only reason I knocked off a star is because of how difficult it was to get ahold of anyone once he was discharged, for his follow up care and test results. Ended up having to find our own neurologist and that office called multiple times to get all his files transferred over, otherwise we probably never wouldn’t gotten the results of his tests. Other than that I was overall very happy with the care he received.
So my 71 year old friend fell, her nose is bleeding her face is bleeding, she injured her back, her neck, and she might have broken her arm or shoulder. She went off in the ambulance - I follow - we go to Albany Med. I get here Im sure shes been here with the ambulance, Im figuring shes already set for ctscan, x-rays are done, etc... I walk in the ER and she is sitting in the waiting room in a wheelchair with a neck brace still on and the blood all over her.I have never seen a hospital where you come in by ambulance and you end up sitting in a wheelchair in the waiting room. Ive been to dozens of hospitals all over this country I have never seen this.Albany Med is not what it used to be avoid it at all costs.
I had a very traumatizing experience and an altering life changing experience. I ultimately lost a loved one due to the negligence of that place. Although all the years I thought this to be quite a top notch place, I realized from this past experience that this is a school. Meaning it is a joke and you are basically an experiment. I wont say everyone experience will be horrible there. Just make sure you have a health proxy, power of attorney everything, if you have some all of a sudden life threatening illness! Make sure that youre family and friends agree that they understand what youre wishes are. And that you have outside patient advocacy because everyone who works for that hospital, best interest is that hospital and not you! The good people there, gets silenced, or underminded, leaving them renderless to providing you the proper care you need. I have witnessed others besides my loved one pass away from coming in there with one thing , then suddenly dying from another. Please make informed choices. Get second opinions. And never feel pressured into making any sudden and drastic measures on behalf of what they might tell you. Please take this in consideration from a mother who lost her child in that place. This is advice for any where you may go that has your health involved.
My mother was admitted through the trauma center at Albany Medical Center on June 21, 2018 for a broken orbital bone and nose fracture. Everything was going well until she went to an inpatient room. After several requests to give my mother her hydrocortisone for Addisons disease and explaining how important it was, she became unresponsive because they did not give it to her in time. She also should have had an IV for hydration that was delayed well beyond a reasonable time.I am giving one star because the trauma team were great, but what good is that if you get to the floor and arent given your life saving medication and hydration after a tramatic facial injury. If you choose to go here you must advocate for the patient and bump yourself up the supervisor ladder till you get what you want. In our case it was too late, she became unresponsive. She is alive and doing well only because of my sisters not the hospital.
Most certain my 19 yr son was forgotten in the ER, also he received the wrong blood type upon hand off to critical care unit, treated by new residents for first 3 hours of care for blunt chest trauma, chest tube and trauma cath places by new residents caused additional harm which led to veinous hemorrhage, and he was given an overdose of Fentanyl. I was denied a formal grievance review then told by leadership that “not all care is documented in the medical record”. Horrible at patient care. I give them a 1 star st covering up their errors and would never recommend anyone go to AMC not even my worst enemy. FYI My son died that evening at AMC.
I am a 47 year old woman, who is disabled. I have high blood pressure. I had very bad food poisoning and called a ambulance. I was admitted, and the doctor told me that I had eaten something bad. He kept me there, giving me test after test that I didnt need, and did not for the whole five days that I was there give me my blood pressure pills. When I asked, I was told that I was being argumentative. I tried to explain that I have a primary doctor, and a medical list. He completely ignored my wishes and continued not helping me. I would not recommend this hospital to my worst enemy.
The staff is professional and friendly but the facility is a nightmare. It seems to be laid out by either a 4 year old with poor preplanning skills or a architect with a grudge against the elderly and grief stricken parents trying to find their kids in the PED ER. If they had spent half the money that they put into making shrines for long dead doctors and donors on making some decent directional signs they’d be all set. Hallways that dead end for no reason, blind corners, and hidden elevators. If there is a fire in there hundreds will die. It’s not very comforting when you hear staff mention that they get lost in there.
Parking for the emergency department after hours is ridiculous. I had a sciatica nerve issue i had to park almost mile away in garage. What kind of service is this? I drove to Memorial Hospital and parked right next to the door. Sometimes simple is the best way to go. Invest on better parking planning for you patients.
I needed to see an ophthalmologist on a Sunday and Albany Med was the only place with one. I got there and he saw someone else while walking past us and went home. Four hours later we still were waiting. we finally just left. Nice. I guess Ill go see a real caring doctor this week.
My elderly mother was a volunteer chaplain for Albany Med for a few years in the 90s.She used to come home crying and telling me the story of the HIV baby who passed away or grief of a family after losing their mother. It was a difficult, unpaid, thankless job but she did it. Recently my mother has become ill. She was in Albany med for a little over a week. During that time I had to call patient relations due to her poor care. She then had an assessment done for in home care, which she completely qualified for and was told she was all set for a referral. They discharge her one day after a horrible diagnosis, did not give her an oncology referral, did not give her the in home care referral and have been nothing but combative and rude when I try to get assistance from them. I have several calls to the social work department that went unreturned. If this is how someone associated with the hospital, that volunteered and gave her time so freely, imagine how they would treat you or your family member.
Oh boy, I’m back for ANOTHER bad review. I now have to bring my sister to a different hospital because Albany med is denying her care because her insurance isn’t working right now (which is highly illegal by the way). They’re trying to send her home w/ a drain tube still hanging out of her coming from her intestines (she got abdominal surgery- anyone who’s had it or knows of it before will know what I’m talking about). It’s been 2 days since the surgery and she hasn’t not made a bowel movement, which is very bad and can kill her (no, not exaggerating). It’s it illegal for doctors to deny a patient care because of insurance reasons (which is in the handbook and in the oath that they’re REQUIRED to take before even training to become a doctor) so once I find out who her doctor was, guess who’s losing their 200,000
Note to albany medical employees. Don’t work in a fields of helping people if you don’t want to help us! I didn’t come for straight faces, passive aggressive attitude and unpleasant attitude. I usually go to St. Peter’s but it was convenient to come here. Just reminded me again not to come here again. TrulyDisgusting I’m sorry.update:I felt like a burden there. Everything felt rushed and i feel very unsure. Getting a second opinion. The resident doctor that was caring for me needs to go over empathy. I had to beg him to test my blood literally. Him telling me theres nothing wrong with me, just by looking at me. This whole entire hospital needs to do a workshop daily on empathy !!!! I just felt like a test dummy. Im just really shocked that folks chose a career of caring for people....when they dont care. That is extremely odd to me.
The ER in this place is HORRIBLE ; Miserable, loud, crowded. Half the people are there for mild self-treatable injuries or in general bullshitting; probably looking to score some drugs. I wouldnt recommend coming to this ER if you have or think you have a life threatening emergency. We ended up leaving after 2 hrs of waiting because of the noise. Went to St Peters and within 5 hours of treatment and no success my gf was admitted to the ICU. BUT I will say that the treatment in the neurology ICU is great! The nurses are very nice and helpful and do everything in their power to make sure yoi are comfortable.
Every time I come here it gets worse.Earlier this week I went to the ER and LEFT wo treatment because the intake staff violated every HIPPA clause I know about. I heard the name of, the medical history and the cause of EVERY patient before me.Now today I go to get my blood drawn and the ignorant receptionist (after I limp in and hand her my script) gets an attitude with me about my INSURANCE WHICH HASNT CHANGED IB TWO YEARS AND I COME TO THIS LAB EVERY THREE MONTHS TO GET DRAWN.She started talking with some old lady urban accent and told me “she had never dealt with me before so how was she to know” 🙄. No one said anything about her but my insurance should be CORRECT in the computer -I wonder why the ER staff had no problem but the phlebotomy lab did?The next individual took over 12 minutes to check me in (my meter ran out and NO one was in front of me). And when I asked for my script back so I could go elsewhere for they reminded me that their lab closed at 5.Horrible.
If I could give the poor excuse of a medical facility a negative five star, I would. We were told to bring our child to AMC by the nurse line as her condition was dire and while there we waited until close to seven hours to see a neurologist - albeit a resident, who dismissed everything we said. Upon shift change, I had the pleasure of watching a nurse face timing her daughter and a second nurse swearing like a sailor. A great childrens hospital that is for sure! Our child then was transferred to a regular bed and based on prior notes another resident made the decision that the condition was caused by behavior and sent her home. The neurologist on call also dismissed everything my wife said. If AMC is my life line - thanks but no thanks, send me to a real hospital.
Awful. We checked in ER @ 8am. Even people who arrived after us were called in. Checked to see if we were next and were told we were called, but had left. Lies. We never left waiting room. She came over to check bracelet and went away. Came back an hour later to tell us we needed to check in again. At this point we were there for 6 hours. An hour later person came to give iv. Then we were told to walk back out to waiting room with iv. I then had to get some to disconnect the iv when it was beeping. Three hours later and still waiting to speak to dr. We were told to come here by neurology. Never again. Never.
It is Outrageous that they are making people get the vax whether are vaccinated !!unacceptable! They are no test long term or short term to prove that it’s safe for pregnant or will not hit the baby ! And everyone is getting sick vax or not vaxed ! Shame on the hospitals for being complicit !! Shame on you!!
Emergency Room- While my child was seriously ill and vomiting with severe head pain in a hospital room. The desk clerk entered the room and asked for copay. I looked at her liike she was so out of line.and told her this isnt the time. Then she asked if I would like to know the amount. I said this is definitely not the time. Then she said something else...who knows. Ridiculous. Collection starts the minute you wailk in! She was not a nurse or someone in care of my child. This is disgusting and out of line behavior.
Yesterday was a lot. Had a bit of a health scare (all good though), but the level of disrespect that I received from the staff (doctors and nurses) at this hospital is something Im still digesting. I was assumed to be homeless and drug seeking because they asked me if I was in pain after I told them I was. I am not homeless, nor was I drug seeking. I was also constantly mis-gendered even though I corrected them (politely) repeatedly. Here is the problem with that. I was vulnerable. I was alone while I was there. A few times I wanted to just sign myself out and go home and hope this got better on its own. The experience I endured at Albany Med was degrading and lonely.People get so wrapped up in things that look different, but forget that at the end of it all, our bodies is no different from anyone elses.People deserve to be treated as a human being no mater what. If I was homeless and drug seeking, I still would deserve the status of human. Our health care professionals need to be better and do better.
My fiancée may have appendicitis, and we’re here for blood tests and a CAT scan to be sure—she’s in pain, can’t move well. We’ve been waiting for a long, long time. I’ve seen several people desperately asking for admittance after having been waiting for over six hours. Staff is disorganized and unprofessional. Lots of horror stories from the other people in this waiting room involving mistakes and wait times.
If you travel via public transportation during the winter times, disabled, or with a stroller I would advise you call for walk route and point of entry and record who you spoke with, patient care rights include safety and if you dont have a safe way into the medical facility then its a big problem. Ive complained several times about a broken changing table at the second clinical campus and I was treated differently because of who I see during my visit I suppose mental health unfortunately is frowned upon in 2019 & thats after loosing family in a 2017 quadruple Troy homicide!.. to be continued!
Not sure if it was a fluke, but TEN hours spent in the ER as of this post; no sign of when this atrocity will end. Nothing compared to the poor woman next to us who has waited 13 hours!! Dozens of overflow patients lined up in the halls, leaving us to see and hear things we should NEVER see or hear. Central station seemed more like a social gathering for nurses; conversations about hairdos, jewelry, colleague drama, and food. Four doctors asked the same questions, obviously not conferring with one another. Poor bedside manner. Never again!
Went to the ER after a snowboard accident via ambulance. Ive had my fair share of ER experiences and this one was different with the way the ER staff handled my injuries and how fast paced everything went down (scans, pain meds, comforting, answered questions, nurses were nice, etc etc). I dont want to have another accident, but if I do, I hope I get taken here.
Very confusing maze of a hospital. The building is very choppy. The signs are confusing. You need a map to navigate from the parking lot to the actual hospital. I was not the only one. This is my 2nd visit to this hospital and both times I was confused as to where to go and bumped into other visitors who were also completely lost. The signs make no sense at all. Very unclear. Not a fan. As far as their medical care....seems decent but being a NYC resident visiting Albany Medical....NYC is much better. I wouldnt want to be in this facility.
I wouldnt be alive if it werent for the lovely(one nurse in particular) people in the Bernard and Millie Dukers Childrens Hospital. The EMT guys were also really great. I had a Pulmonary Embolism and if it wasnt for my doctor Matthew Cunningham for ordering the blood testing and my mother for calling and taking me. I dont know if I would be alive right now. Everything was great except for the food.
It actually amazes me that theres a hospital that exists that the staff almost takes pride in robbing the sick... Seriously, weve lost about 2-300 dollars in clothing, not torn off, not cut off, but literally stolen BY THE STAFF. Leggings, Socks, Shirts, even Underwear, these people are nasty. Also, this location also apparently doesnt change their patients sheets daily like any sanitary location would, but they are trying to save money by only doing laundry a few times a week?!?! So just understand, if you end up here, dont expect anything fantastic, or even sanitary, and dont have any clothing that you actually want back.Good job Bassett Network, stay classy...
So 9:20 am. We walk into children’s emergency room and there’s nobody at the desk. For 10 minutes!!!! Then I call the hospital info. And we get a very rude answer of someone telling us that soon there will be someone coming. When I asked when she said soon. I kept asking for a specific time, she said soon and then with highs pitch voice a BYYYYYEEEE.
Uncaring and unsensitive staff. Scheduling practices nearly unethical and would not allow high priority patients to be seen if they are 600 seconds delayed due to uncontrolled circumtances prior to their appointments. My feedback is that anyone seeks another care facility where people truly care or feel free to experience it for yourself.

2022-01-18I cant say enough about this place. The people in the operating room and in ICU were so caring and competent and they seemed like such a cheerful, happy team, which is very comforting when youre in distress. I received absolutely 5-star treatment. The team at the trauma unit were wonderful, they were patient and cheerful and everyone was so caring. I think these folks are overworked but they hide it well and always make you feel like your needs are of utmost importance. THANK YOU !!

2022-03-16It began a great experience. My daughter had a great team in the OR. However, once she went to her room is where it fell apart. It was about 9:15pm and housekeeping came in to clean. I just fell asleep. It was a long day. I asked if she was getting a roommate the nurse said no. Housekeeping turned the lights on and was on her phone talking while she was cleaning the room. Then left the room and left the lights on. I dont believe she seen me in the room with her. Clearly no compassion for patients getting rest.

2022-06-28I am presently in the emergency room 6/28/2022…it is 7:50 pm and I have been here all day. I asked for something to eat around 5:00pm and they told me they would try to find something. They found me a turkey sandwich and I was thankful however still hungry and asked for another one 3 additional times. I told them I am hungry and was visibly shaking. They told me I’m not getting anything more to eat. My legs were numb from a cortisone shot received last week so I couldn’t really feel my legs or walk to get something. They told me I could eat out of the vending machine. I told them that was not health food and they told me that was my problem. They didn’t even tell me how much longer I was going to be here they drew blood around 1:00 pm and I sat for an additional 6 hours after that…no word…no information…no nothing. Another patient overhead my discussion with the patient check in people and went to Starbucks to get me something to eat.I was under the impression that this was a hospital with caring people and they were there to serve me when I needed help. It would have meant nothing to them to get me another sandwich. I didn’t ask them for their sandwich…just another hospital sandwich. I guess they would rather throw it in the dumpster.

2022-02-16Sitting in ER at 0345 so going on 5 hours waiting here for father to be seen in emergency dept. There is nobody else in the E.R. practically empty. Father needed to be seen after becoming ill following a procedure at the same hospital earlier in the day. Some better communication would make the wait tolerable as he is not feeling well and therefore becoming more irritable. He is 82 so come on folks, I expect better from the regions largest hospital.

2022-02-11Came in with someone. Got blood work almost immediately. Waited in the waiting room for 3hrs. Got CT scan and has been an hour. Been here a total of 4.5hrs so far. Ppl are in gowns, needles in arm, fluids hooked up...nurses are not talking to patients in private. I am appalled at how things are being conducted. An RN said she would come back with my question answered and NEVER came back. Albany Med needs to do better.

2022-03-29This review is strictly of the patient engagement number for scheduling new patient appointments for others so they are aware they are calling the correct place. There is no introduction at all, it simply picks up and plays classical music on and on and on and so you have no idea whether youre calling the right place. This is extremely unprofessional, there should be some sort of introduction or automated greeting advising the caller of the department they are calling. Hopefully the provider offices are better.

2022-03-23Absolutely the worst experience as a patient and as a veteran. I cannot believe how they allow some of the staff to speak to and treat their patients. I was a hospital corpsman so before anyone says that I have no clue what they are feeling, please, I know first hand. A soft answer and kindness may may the difference between life and death for some folks. There were good staff throughout the visit. Under appreciated and under staffed. The doctors are never on the same page and no one can help you. I had to get out of bed and get Celine and sterile gauze to clean my own face after asking twice and being ignored for over an hour. I requested information from the doctors three doctors three different stories none of it lined up. I just called him to see who I could send paperwork for a family medical leave to and no one knew how to help me I talk to four different people. This hospital is an atrocity to quality healthcare. It is understaffed due to ignorance and regulations, the people are burnt out.You can ask the staff that is decent and they can tell you by name the people that aren’t and they know there an issue but yet they still remain in the hospital. Specifically in the ER D3 19 I was a patient there I hit the call button and a woman known as Lisa answers the call “yeah, what do you want” in the rudest tone she could muster then ignores me and hangs up.

2022-03-09I always thought Albany Med was a good hospital until my brother had a massive stroke and was sent to this hospital. He was in there for close to 2 months and there were just a handful of employees that literally cared. As for the majority of the nurses, doctors and sitters that were suppose to take care of him should not be employed in the health care profession. They mistreated my brother, who due to the stroke, lost 50% of his brain, he would lay in a urine soaked bed til a family member came in and confronted the so called nurses. The sitters were suppose to help feed my brother but Everytime I went in his room his food trays from breakfast and lunch were sitting on the window sill untouched while the sitter would be on their personal phone. This hospital has no compassion for the sick that theyre supposed to be taking care of. Theyve done biopsy and tests on him that weve never gotten the results on. The hospital more or less kicked my brother out of the hospital. He was sent home on a Thursday night and my brother passed away within 48hrs of coming home. Be wary of this place!

2022-04-10This lady you see is responsible for not letting a young black male who grew up without his father in the room to see his son be born they told me because I have my 3 year old who has type 1 diabetes. Instead of saying “I will give you a min to give your lady and what she needs and be able to watch your son being born I had to wait for the cops to show up and help me out this is the worst hospital for humans and human right especially with people who have no care in they heart in a place where care is number 1. Don’t give birth in this hospital

2022-04-09Checked in at 530 pm and doctor who was sitting in where vitals are being taken stated that wife needed an MRI so they could come up with a game plan for treatment. 1040 pm and still sitting here for said MRI. This place is terrible. Visitor check in clerk was rude to everyone who came up and asked her a question as though people were bothering her. She adds no value to this hospital. Went back to desk to see what status was on MRI and lady says we could be here until morning waiting on it. Unacceptable
