Seth is a fantastic trainer. He is extremely knowledgeable and professional. His training methodology can challenge the entire range of clients from beginner to the most experienced. I highly recommend Albany Movement and Fitness to anyone seeking to move and feel better while gaining strength.
Within the first few weeks of training I noticed not only an increase in my strength, but my stamina and endurance as well. Seth is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about strength training and functional movement-not your typical trainer and it shows in his training. He has a dynamic skill set that he applies to his clients so they now how and why each movement has importance. The programs have variety and the atmosphere is encouraging and motivating. Since joining Albany Movement and Fitness, I’ve watched myself exceed goals and continually look forward to each workout!
My daughter is doing fitness lesson at Albany Movement & Fitness for the past 5 months. She is has improved her speed, strength, agility and overall movement. Seth has done an amazing job. He is super motivated and have a passion for fitness. He customized workouts depending on the sport, ability, etc. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for fitness facility with a passionate, motivated instructor to check out Albany Movement & Fitness.
I started my fitness journey at AMF about 3 months ago. In the past I havent been a fan of the average gym experience and I wanted to try something different which led me to AMF. My goal was to feel good, lose weight, and be healthier. I was definitely skeptical at first due to bad past experiences. However, as soon as my first session that changed and I was pleasantly surprised. I had never worked out in a group training session before but I absolutely love it. It is challenging, fun, and motivating. Everyday that I go the routines are different which keeps it fresh. Seth and Chaitanya have been very approachable and helpful throughout my journey so far. Seth is super supportive of individual capabilities and needs without making anyone feel different. The environment(from the staff and the other clients) is welcoming, inclusive, non-judgmental, motivating, and lots of fun. It is a really great workout with really good people. I am having such a fun and great experience every day I am there that all of the results I am seeing are just a bonus!!
Seth is awesome! I came to him from a powerlifting background which allowed me to accumulate raw strength but left me lacking in functional mobility. He took the time to meet with me and develop a program to address my shortcomings and goals. Seth has numerous certifications, but more important to me - he possesses a wealth of knowledge which he draws upon to help you achieve whatever goals you set.Aside from private instruction I also took some of the group classes. These classes are great and foster a feeling of community where everybody is encouraging and helping you to get through the workout.Overall this is a great community and Seth is a great guy.
If motivation, flexibility, and a personal approach is what your looking for in a PT, then Seth is the best PT for you!My fitness has increased noticeably and I’ve seen improvements in my ability to complete more core exercises,lift progressively heavier weights & generally push myself harder throughout each session.Importantly:– He ensures that my technique is always correct to avoid any injuries.– He is extremely reliable and is always ready with an exercise routine planned.
I’ve trained with Seth since 1998,He’s extremely knowledgeable in his craft but more then that he cares. His passion for fitness and people are clearly seen from the first time I met him. His main goal is making sure you reach your goal! There’s lot of trainers in this industry that forget who you are the second you walk out the door, but not him. He works tirelessly from the second you walk in and after you leave to make sure you received the best experience and the best results. It’s been over 10 years since I’ve worked with seth and even though we live hours away he still calls to check up on me. He will not be just your trainer, he will become your friend, mentor, therapist and biggest fan.
I came across Seth and AMF through a 30 day challenge. Through great work outs, an easy to follow diet and daily contact keeping me focused on my goals I am finally accomplishing weight loss and getting in shape while having fun! Signing up with AMF means you have coaches who will motivate and encourage you to do your very best at every work out. This is not your normal gym, you will get individual encouragement, be shown proper body mechanics, and always treated with respect.
I went here for a few months 3x a week and I look better and am stronger. If your fitness goals are to burn calories or gain strength then this is the place to go because they have a planned routine and good instructors. But I guess Im bias because I enjoyed it, got results, and liked the people. So Ill tell you who it isnt for. Its not for people who come expecting isolation machines because they dont have that, they work your whole body. And its not for people who want to go just for pics or to say they went, I left sweating every time and so did everyone else. Plus there is a lot more I could say, like how Seth (the owner) is jacked and really knows his stuff, or how motivating it is to work out with other people, but if youre serious about your fitness goals I recommend AMF.
I started working with Seth at Albany Movement and Fitness in March - best decision I could have made. I knew that I needed to excercise and increase my activity level for lots of reasons. The thought of going to a “gym” to work out had zero appeal. Been there, done that and never could figure out what to do besides the treadmill. All of that changed with Seth. His credentials are terrific. He is truly a coach, who knows each of us and pushes us to succeed, without the bootcamp tactics. I am lifting more weight and doing excercises I would never have considered. I feel stronger and better after just a few months. I actually enjoy going to workout. If you are looking for coach to help you reach your fitness goals in a fun and supportive environment, I would highly recommend Albany Fitness and Movement.
I’ve had a really great experience with AMF. I like the variety of workouts I’m getting and even in a group setting it still seems tailored to my specific goals and abilities. I also appreciate the positive feedback and encouragement to get through the workouts. The gym’s community in general is very supportive and uplifting. I would definitely recommend.
I’ve worked out with Seth for years. I’ve never been an athletic person, but in the time I’ve worked with Seth I’ve hit goals I never thought would be possible. The classes have great people and it’s a highly motivating environment. Seth is knowledgeable and truly a great trainer.
The place to go for both mobility and strength training at any level. Through specific exercise programs, Seth was able to restore my shoulder mobility (whereas PT couldnt get there) and increase strength to levels Ive never experienced before. Great atmosphere, great programs, great results.
One of the best workouts I’ve had in a very long time! Very knowledgeable staff. I used muscles that I didn’t even know I had and even though is was very challenging, I knew this was what I needed. I would recommend this gym to any and everyone looking to take their fitness to the next level.
Me and my wife came and met Seth and the motivation is awesome he don’t force you he always make time to coach you I mean the results are amazing my wife lost 6 pounds in less than a week I mean if anyone is serious about getting into fitness he’s the man to come see I love this place is awesome.
Best place in town if you actually want results. It’s so awesome, everything is customized to get you toned up. Staff is so friendly and attentive no matter what level of fitness you are at. I highly recommend this place if you want the best fitness experience and the best guidance for a new fit journey!
I cant imagine anyone rating Seth less than 5 stars! Seth brings more to the table than any other trainer. Not only does he know how to healthily push you past your limits, he also educates you along the way so you know WHY your body is changing and benefiting from your workouts! Albany Movement and Fitness is unsurpassed! You WILL get results!
Ive been working out with Seth for about the last 4 months and couldnt be happier with where Im at. I am down about 25-30 lbs, feeing stronger and healthier then I have in years. Positive atmosphere, while holding me accountable on an ongoing basis. Thanks for everything, still moving in the right direction and am looking forward to continued success.

He was nice and a okay trainer (I maintained my weight and loss a inch which I was more happy about then he was). However, the business side was a mess: changing billing and scheduling systems multiple times, changing locations, dates, and times, lack of good communication, and posting videos of me working out on social media without telling me. Would have been a much better experience if he was a part of a larger, more structured organization, like Planet Fitness.
I was a client of Albany Movement & Fitness for almost 7 months. Although I did see results in getting in shape I found that the service the owner provided was less than stellar when it came to getting responses back and being charged on my card for sessions or in the result of my canceling the membership. An extra month of membership fees was charged to my card after I specifically reminded the owner, Seth Thomas, at my last session to make sure not to charge my account. Several times the owner requested dates and times for make-up work out sessions because he cancelled the session (typically only an 1 hour or less before the session start, even as a client we are supposed to give 24 hour notice) and never responded to my text when I gave times. This resulted in frustration and inconvenience for me since I would plan around these sessions. Finally, even though I paid for one-on-one sessions, once I reminded the Seth I put in my notice to cancel (and had to remind him a couple of times) most of my sessions were combined with other people being trained at the same time, and half the time I was working out on my own because he was running late with other clients.All in all, I admit I did receive results from the gym for the first couple of months when I was working with another trainer that was employed there, the subpar customer service and frustration from errors and non-communication from the owner outweighed my decision on terminating my membership.

2022-08-10I love this gym! Every workout is different and challenging! All of the coaches get to know their clients and make modifications, if needed. It feels like a community, not your typical gym.

2022-01-19Seth and his team are amazing. They motivate you to do better. The ambiance is great and there’s no body shaming. The classes are small with 5:00 am classes to start my day. Seth is very knowledgeable and invests in continuous learning to assist his clients. I would definitely recommend Seth and his team to anyone willing to get fit. It’s a judgement free zone!!!

2021-10-26Amazing facility!! I have never liked going to the gym, or working out in any way. Well Seth and his staff have changed that. I am in my 50s and its taken until now for me to find a place that is this accepting, and understanding of my needs, frustrations, etc. There is never a time when I feel lost, alone, confused. And because the staff is so genuine and kind, the clientele is as well. I can honestly say that I enjoy going to the gym now. I enjoy seeing how much stronger I have become. I enjoy seeing all the staff and the other clients. There is definitely a feeling of community here that I have never felt before. I would recommend Albany Movement and Fitness to anyone!!!

2020-03-06My daughter did fitness training with Seth. We were so happy with her progress. She has become stronger and faster. Seth was very motivating and able to push my daughter to work harder than what she thought she could do. Seth is very passionate at what he does. He really is a great fitness trainer. He works very well with young athletes, like my daughter. His personality fits them well. If you are looking for a high quality training with a trainer who really knows what he is doing, I would highly recommend you to work with Seth.

2021-10-18Ive trained with Seth at Albany Movement & Fitness for about two years now. Seth knows his stuff, is very well-educated on fitness and anatomy and stays up-to-date on the latest science and industry information. He focuses on form and knowledge first, to properly inform technique and reduce chances for avoidable injury. His attitude is positive and upbeat, but hell encourage clients to safely push themselves toward positive growth.Seth takes the time to know each clients goals making a group training class feel more like a one-on-one with a personal trainer. Group classes are typically small and never feel crowded. Great value and convenient location in Albany.Id be remiss if I didnt mention the other trainers working under Seths guidance. It is a diverse group of passionate people that only add to the program value.*Give Albany Movement & Fitness a Try!*His facility is large, clean, and amply stocked with all the tools for a complete workout, regardless of goals.

2019-07-10I have gone to Albany Movement and Fitness for almost a year, and I have worked with Seth from a previous fitness center. Whenever I have worked with him, he has always encouraged me to do my best.I have always enjoyed it at his fitness center / gym. Everyone welcomes you like long lost friends every time, and everyone tries to help each other. Whether by encouragement to do that one or two extra pushups, or helping you improve how you are doing the exercises.I would recommend joining to anyone that wanted to really get into shape.

2019-07-10The best trainer ever! Seth is incredible, his knowledge is second to none. He completely tailors each work out to my individual needs. He spent time asking me about my history and experiences, what I needed and what my goals were and then did a full physical evaluation before we started. It is great having someone who knows your limitations as well as your goals and does everything possible to get you there. Trust me this is the best money you’ll ever spend.

2019-07-12Albany movement and fitness is a great private gym with an amazing trainer! Seth is a very knowledgeable guy who takes his craft serious. I have know Seth for two years and Ive seen amazing results with his clients. Ive also worked alongside Seth and he is a true professional.

2019-07-14Since I started attending about two years ago I have felt much stronger and more energetic. Seth is an outstanding and dedicated trainer and his workouts are expertly tailored to an individuals limitations and goals. No workout is ever wasted nor stagnant and I always feel like I accomplish something after each session. Would recommend 100%.
