Alchemy in other cities:
Decent, but simultaneously boring brunch - just the typical items you would find on a brunch menu, and nothing more. But at the same time, I guess you cant go wrong with that. Serves the purpose of familiarity, and serves that purpose well. Cannot say anything regarding the dinner menu, however.
Cute and cozy dive bar with great charm. I had the Salmon and my bestie had the hangar steak and we both had a great time eating our meals. They had a decent wine list in which I got a glass of sparkling rose. So if youre in the area looking for a good bite I think it is definitely a go! I have gone twice service was fast, efficient and they take pride in their location. On the second visit I had the mac and cheese which they make to order it comes originally with peas and bacon but I had it plain and I must say it was absolutely delicious. I was happy they were willing to allow the modification on my order because that was a welcomed side dish to my salmon, though next time I will get the larger order and not just the side size. I think it is easily becoming one of my neighborhood faves and look forward to this being my new spot. Its every clean and has quaint charm to the decor, very laid back I really like it. Sorry I have no pics of the mac but trust me its good.
This place is awesome for brunch. They are always crowded and in the warmer months they have a nice little outdoor patio area. The bar is great and the people are friendly. It is a bit small, but cozy inside. I love the dark red brick walls. Brunch is mostly egg dishes, with some other sweet brunch options too.
We came in to Park Slope to meet an old friend and dropped in to Alchemy for lunch. The space is quaint and has the classic pub feel with lots of dark wood. They have a nice cocktail menu and a good beer list. We tried a classic dark and stormy, a wine and a beer all were good. For lunch the stand out was definitely the truffle fries. The grilled chicken sandwich and the turkey burger were good as well. Recommend.
This place was once one of my favs happy hour spots for calamari ($7)with the chipotle mayo 🤗 So usually I sit at the bar but went with a friend today for dine in at 4pm today and surprisingly the customer service was horrible, we were told there was no happy hour food due to an event at Barclay (they still have drinks happy hour) cool whatever so when we say we gping to stay and want a booth the waitress asked how long was we were going to be there 😳🤔 we should have left after that but I really do like their calamari to paid ($11) see pic lol but normally would have gave it 4 but with that type of service Im good, hopefully next time I come if I do come again that the service is better, usually the bartender is cool so sit a the bar if you have the option
I have not been here in many years but am glad to see it has remained open as I enjoyed my time there and was more than happy to suggest this place to countless others.Alchemy (the name alone took me in) is what you would call an American comfort food pub. There is this one cocktail that my best friend and I tried there and it remains to this day one of the most memorable craft cocktails Ive ever had outside my own bars. That cocktail was called The Clamberskull... sadly it no longer exists on their menu. But their new menus do look very promising. Will have to stop in the next time Im in BK.
Everything I tried here was excellent! From drinks toDessert it was a pleasant experience. I like The decor and ambience of the place as well. Its great that you can get the pies to go as well and they come with proper reheating directions. Desserts, pies and burgers are all great.
We waited over 45 mins for our food only to get cold unseasoned food. The water glasses were dirty and with lip and finger prints all over. We had to ask for everything ourselves down to forks and knives. Would not recommend this place, you’ll waste your time and money. Terrible food and terrible service.
Excellent food, friendly service. Brunch menu is available late into the day and is replete with a variety of options. Staff is friendly and very accommodating. House cocktails are fantastic, and the patio is a wonderful little closed-in space to enjoy food or drinks. The only thing keeping this review from a fifth star is the speed with which staff responds - on a not-so-busy afternoon, staff took a decent amount of time to bring drinks and food out. Overall, a gem amongst the restaurants on 5th Ave. Id love to become a regular here.
Such terrible customer service my sister & I left. We arrived, was told by the bartender we could sit outside. After a few minutes, he arrives at the table with water. I say hi, he said nothing in response and placed the water & glasses down, then proceeded to walk to the next table and exchanged words before returning behind the bar. My sister and I looked at each other and I continue our conversation. Mid convo noticed that the glasses he brought us were clearly stained and unclean. I took the glasses in and requested clean ones and his response was to give both a nasty attitude & hand me plastic cups. My sister had already decided at that point that she no longer wanted to eat there, to which I agreed. What’s the purpose of working at a job if you’re going to have a disgusting attitude? In the midst of this pandemic, the lack mindfulness in regards to the glasses also threw us all the way off, and showed lot regarding their concern for the health of the public. Definitely disappointed as I was excited to try this place and won’t be returning.
Nice little neighborhood spot, good brunch and tasty cocktails. But service was remarkably slow the last time I was there--even for cocktails! They were busy but never seemed totally slammed, and our waitress was duly attentive to the delay and brought us another snack, but it was still surprising.
Amazing food, the menu here has improved since last year when our friends went last, and offers some British classics like fish and chips, and shepherds pie. Had the salmon with mash and it was cooked perfectly. Went with 3 others and all 4 of us tried something different and all totally loved the food. Will definitely be back! Really friendly server as well. Good selection of drinks and great atmosphere for a Saturday night at a local bar. We will definitely come back often now we live so close!
My first impression of the place was very positive but by the time i left I was so disappointing. Went there on Friday night with my brother who lives in the area ordered a couple of drinks and the garlic fries. The drinks and the fries were very good. The bartender was not bad or rude but just indifferent. We decided to order food and got two burgers. What a disappointment. tasted like frozen meat on a stale bread with good fries and salad that had too much vinegar. I had two bites of the burger and left it aside. Bartender took it, never bothered to even ask if everything was ok with the food. Same for my brother even though he had half of his. Anyways next time I would only go there for drinks. And I know it is Brooklyn but if I am paying $50 to have a burger and beers at your bar and I will have to tip you $10 please do your job and at least check on me when you see I didnt touch my food.
Fabulous restaurant! Went there today for breakfast. The brioche French toast topped with fresh fruit was delicious. And the bangers in maple syrup were the best I’ve ever had! My cup of latte was amazing. The server was very nice and the outdoor seating was lovely. Prices were reasonable for the quality service and food you receive. I loved it and can’t wait to go back!
Not only is the menu full of unique and delicious items, but the staff is what really makes this place amazing. Always good energy, whether it’s a full house or you’re the only table. Everyone makes you feel welcome, and this environment is especially warm compared to most places in the city. Perfect for brunch, lunch, dinner, and late night drinks: I would eat every meal here if my wallet were bottomless.
Service excellent. Burghers were really good. Mac and cheese very good. Dont get fish and chips. Very disappointing. tasted like they were previously made and warmed in a microwave. Hanger steak was tasty but chewy. Great Beer selection and white wine was cold. Bottle of water on table a nice touch.
It was our first time there for date night. The food was great, perfect portions. There was a little crowd at the door and we thought the wait would be long however as soon as we walked through the door we were sat immediately. The staff was friendly fast and informative of the menu. We will definitely be going back and telling friends.
Staff was friendly though service was a bit slow with seemingly just one or two servers. Seems to be a popular dive though I wasnt too crazy about the food..a bit all-American with little healthy options. My friends seemed to enjoy their fare of BLT sandwiches w fries & salad (just greens as far as I could tell).
Great service, cute booths, and amazing food. You cant go wrong. Truly one of the better places for high quality but affordable food. The Waitress (pink hair) was very fun and attentive which clearly added to the experience. make sure you check the specials (I found my luck on there and it was outstanding)
At first I was really unsure about this place, I didnt expect it to be what it was. When you come in off the street, you definitely dont feel like youre a couple blocks away from the Barclay center. The whole vibe of this place is great. The staff is knowledgable, the food I thought was going to be pretentious when reading the menu did not taste that way, it was perfectly prepared and well worth it. Give it a go, get the rigatoni, and enjoy the company youre with.
This place is awesome. Ive been here 2-3 times for brunch and once for dinner. I always get the Eggs Benedict, which is pretty awesome. I got the burger for dinner one night, and it was delicious. If you go to brunch and love coffee, get a cup. Its fair trade organic and is delicious.Servers are always super nice (especially Hayden) and the decor is typically awesome Brooklyn - booths and brick walls, and theres a bar. Highly recommended.
Probably the best cocktails my wife and I have had in New York City. We had three and all were consistently fantastic which is incredibly rare. The drinks were surprisingly affordable and the staff was really friendly. I couldnt recommend this place enough and will definitely be back.
Overall **** for this place.Food ****I had the eggs Norwegian. They come with fries and side salad. The hollandaise sauce was a bit too thick but the dish overall had taste. My friend had the pancake. They were fluffy and perfectly gold brown. They were a bit too dry though.Drinks ****Good choices for wine and alcohol drinks. I have the apple cider and the chocolate. Both good but not great.Service ****Even though the waiter and waitress seem a bit all over the place the service was ok. They forgot my friends scrambled eggs but brought then right away as soon as we reminded them. Our was super nice by giving us free mini muffins before our meals and free for our last round of drinks.Decor/ambiance ****Thr place is very cute overall with tables and both and a bar right at the entrance.
Great service, nice ambience and amazing prices for food and drinks. Vegans must try the House Made Vegan Burger, French Fries and non alcoholics must definitely try the Mojito. Service is prompt and Servers always look put for you to ensure that you dont run out of food or drinks while you are there. It simply was the best experience to hangout with friends on a cold evening.
Ive been coming to Alchemy pretty regularly since I first discovered it. The mussel deal on Mondays is great. Their burgers are great. Their spicy penne is pretty good. Theyve got a great beer selection. Some nice seating in the back. Decent beer selection, and friendly and quick service.
Awful service, mediocre food. Waitress didnt even smile once the entire time we were there.A friend ordered his steak medium rare, and it came out with no pink. The waitress didnt even apologize and ask if he wanted another steak, she just said so you dont want it? and took it away (we had to fight her to get it off the bill!). We asked for a manager, but she was just as useless. If you want to be looked down on by an entirely incompetent staff, this is the place for you!
Alchemy offers healthy dishes like the grass-fed burger, it has a hip bar, the weekend brunch is amazing (I recommend the French Toast or Pancakes), the outdoor area is a perfect spot for summer days - what more could you want? Oh yeah, and its perfect for kids (not too late of course), and perfect for date nights - both occasions of which Ive participated =]
Great brunch place in Park Slope. Their hamburger is my favorite thing on the menu (very juicy), but their Guinness pancakes and brioche french toast are also delicious. Its set up with an Irish pub and offers outdoor seating in the summer and spring. There will usually be a wait for seating around lunch/brunch time, but its well worth the wait.
This area of Brooklyn is not prepared for the crowds on Barclay Center event nights. They dont have enough seating, wont seat groups, you even have to wait to formally be seated at the bar. And then they dont honor their advertised specials. Seating outside is hit or miss and we were seated next to a giant rat trap. Food was nothing special.
I dined here before a Nets game around 6pm before a 7:30pm game and that was certainly the time to arrive as within a few minutes, the place was packed and not in a good way. Its a bit cramped, very loud and hard to fully use your elbows when dining since they cram the tables in. Perhaps its better in the warmer months when the huge backyard is open. From 4-6:30pm, they offer a happy hour menu with ~$4 drinks and reduced price (and size) plates though are initially inflexible about adjustments like asking for dressing on the side or adding grilled chicken to a happy hour salad (despite my offers to pay full price). Eventually, the meal was delivered as I required based on my dietary requirements.Other than that, its a nice space with wooden booths (limited amount) a pretty decent beer selection and otherwise friendly staff. When compared to its sister restaurant Hamiltons in Kensington, the space is a bit nicer and menu more extensive, but Id stick with Hamiltons as I like the crowd better. They DO accept credit cards despite a lack of stickers on the front door.
Eh on everything except the company. Actually the 1st Bloody Mary was delicious with just the right spiciness for me. The second was made by another bartender and proportions were off somehow...Another batch Im guessing. Burger was at best mediocre in flavor. Also make sure you check expiration on condiments at table. Trust me on this one.
Dropped in by chance for an after-work draft one HOT summer day and ended up calling my wife to join me there for dinner. Great, knowledgeable staff, very good pub food, welcoming atmosphere and intriguing rotation of beers and ales. Happy Hour plates are good value. Our go-to bar in the Slope.
I daresay this Brooklyn spot praised for dinner is not going to be my go to brunch spot. It was surprisingly quiet and my Guinness pancakes, though intriguing, were slightly underwhelming. The Guinness flavor was faint and the pancakes flat, rather than fluffy. Next time, Ill be sure to visit later in the day, with fish and chips the likely order.
The service was a little too laid back for the price but the food was great. The staff were hospitable and friendly and the ambience and music were cool. I dont think Id pay another $45 in car fare to get there and back again but if I lived in the hood itd be a spot of mine for sure.
Discovered Alchemy via Google Maps when looking for a place near Barclays to attend an event. It was an excellent choice for someone coming in from out of state - just hire a ride to drop you at Alchemy and its a 2 minute walk to Barclays after dinner. Food and atmosphere were great with locals at the bar bantering football and concert attendees at the tables sharing stories about where they flew in from.
Much like the wizards of old, who tried to turn lead into gold, Alchemy has turned bar food into a top flight meal. While so many bars in the area offer good drinks with a passable, if often absent dining experience, Alchemy is the rare place that does both great. Having come here for dinner with some friends, this dimly lit bar serves up top notch meals, namely their grilled chicken sandwich. Succulent white meat served on a delicious cibatta roll would make a fantastic sandwich, but Alchemy turns it up a notch by adding top notch bacon and avacado to the equation. (On another occasion I tried the burger, and while good, pales in comparison to the chicken sandwich).Seating is cozy indoors, with a backyard for drinks in the summer. Although small in size, theres almost never a wait for a seat or a table.
I just had a jalapeño infused margarita and it was sooo delicious that I began to weep. Then I had another and my eyes fell out of my face. This is jalapeño infused tequila is the most spectacular concoction I’ve decided this is all I will ever need to feel better. Therefore I’ve decided to stop my chemo because it just doesn’t make me feel good. Infused tequila, that is what does a body good. You should see my body, what a mess! Big fat handles on the side. Anyway back to the point. I must know the alchemist who makes this blend of joy and goodness. Holy Mackel! Damn good stuff. Im on my eighth one. Wait! I forgot to mention the staff is super friendly too! Even when they asked me to leave.
Wanted to like this place. They made an exception for us on an event night to sit at a table just for a few drinks. Guess their plan was to make us wait until we got annoyed and left. Ten minutes without more than a water bottle and it worked. Went around the corner to North Pole.
Alchemy is a mix of casual bar atmosphere with delicious food. With a name like Alchemy I expected something more pretentious and some type of gastronomic experimentation. But instead, I found a cozy, neighborhood bar atmosphere with a good white bean soup and a tasty salmon entree. The alchemy part comes with dessert from the lab (Il Laboratorio).

2021-09-12This place is clean but there were flies inside. The man working there was friendly but the cooks took really long to make the food. The food was good for the price and the place was empty at lunch time. I would recommend going here but if you’re on a timed schedule then maybe go to a place with quicker service.

2022-02-26Great atmosphere, warm friendly hostesses, laid back attitude, and AMAZING FOOD. I love to come here with a friend to show off their brunch. Have yet to come back and have a drink but is on my To-Do list. Carried out a mimosa one hot day and was delighted. I recommend the French toast. 😋

2022-05-07This place is a cozy, welcoming Park Slope standby. Came with two friends on a rainy night and it was lovely to sit unhurried and to feel warm and welcome. Our server was very friendly and attentive. To drink, I had the Smokey Paloma which was flavorful and delicious and had just the right amount of booze. The food has gotten a little blah over the years, though. My burger was overcooked, which I hate, and my friends salmon was too. Overall, this is a nice neighborhood fixture with a kitchen that could use a little livening up.

2022-05-04Hidden outdoor patio, carefully crafted cocktails, great service. Honestly, what more do you really need. The outdoor patio can be found out back and its a beautiful seating area with a plant canopy and lights perfect for an evening drink. The cocktails come in a variety of liquors and are crafted to your content. I guarantee youll find something you like. Definitely recommended if you want a grab a drink with a friend or 2!

2022-04-104/10/22 brunch- it was full, but got a recently vacated booth. They are understaff so service was slow but nice and friendly. Food still really great!I had the Swiss breakfast, a perfect size for a smaller plate if youre not truly hungry.2019:Been here several times. Most recently for brunch. Had the huevos rancheros (photo), they make it in a very interesting way and it was very good! Service was excellent as it always is... Thanks K!

2021-07-30Alchemy is a great spot for drinks and food, and the staff are super friendly. Their signature cocktails are all top-notch, though I found myself ordering the Strawberry Jalapeño Margarita over and over because it was just too good. I saw that 3 other people at the bar had the same drink - for good reason.

2022-04-23My 2 stars goes for past experiences. But this was definitely the last time at Alchemy. We sat outside, the waitress came with a bottle of water and never came back again until the lady picking up the plates came out and we asked about. The beer never came. We decided to sit inside and got to see the waitress sitting at the bar having a drink.
