This will be the go to Mexican place of the neighborhood in no time. Beautiful, minimal decoration, everything is new. I love how simple their menu is. We tried the guacamole and a few of the tacos. My girlfriend and I both loved the steak ones. And of course I had to drink a Tamarind Jarrito.. so good! To finish, we ordered the coconut flan. Incredible. The prices are not bad at all. Service was also very friendly and courteous. Thanks for an amazing dinner, well be back soon!
Aleli.Quality. Careful choice of ingredients. And great spice combinations. And right across the street from me!So the cons: dessert menu only really has one item right now. I need more! But the coconut flan was rich dense and smooth. Good flavor and popped amaranth which is a treat.I got the spicy guacamole. Because guacamole, duh. They fry up the chips there. Perfect thickness and salt. Loved the guac. So many textures and flavor. A very nice blend. Its not very spicy either.Next was the memelita. This was a pleasant surprise. The shell here was made from scratch and grilled. It held up well to the vegetables and sauce. Beans were tender and creamy. Squash and mushrooms all came together with robust flavor. Def worth it. Does not need any meat at all to stand on its own.The chicken enchilado. Boneless thigh crispy fried. The meat has great flavor, no simple marinade here. A bouquet of bite sized Vegetable medley (purslane, cauliflower, fresh roasted corn, perfect carmelized Pearl onions, broccolini, roasted potatoes) with the most beautiful Chipotle sauce Ive ever experienced. They wont share the recipe tho, this makes me sad. I did watch it get prepared but missed all the ingredients Being added. Its rich, floral, delicate, not overly Smokey or hot. I would put this sauce on everything. It makes me want to try every one of their sauces, which I plan to do soon.Yes. Its pricey. But. Every piece of produce was fresh and crisp . Every single Berry on my dessert was perfect, not a hint of age, no black, no mush, no mold and all sweet. You might wanna say its luck, but not dead winter.Plus theyre open 7 days a week.
Some of the best Mexican food Ive ever had anywhere. The elote was fantastic, and so were the margaritas. The inside is very nice and clean. From what I could tell, masks and vaccine checks are being enforced. One tip for the owners: the lighting is a little too much. Maybe make it a little darker during dinner hours. We will be back for more!
This was hands down the best Mexican food I’ve had in Bay Ridge, if not in NYC. The short rib quesadilla was incredible and the enchiladas were perfection. The spice level is high, but so well balanced. The service was great and the staff was so friendly. And the guac? Perfection. All in all, very deserving of 5 stars.
Good Food, Good Service! Really pleasant owner working the bar! I enjoyed the Vegetarian entree with the green sauce - Verde. A tasty blend of greens in a smother in a puree. Yum! The lights stay bright which give a cantina feel more so than an atmospheric restaurant. Simple selection of healthy plants for decor!
At first from the outside of the building it looks like a takeout place. Dont judge a book by its cover! Amazing authentic Mexican food! We had the steak and chicken tacos, and the chicken enchilada with mole sauce. The best Mole weve eaten. Everything was so tasty and you can tell that it was cooked with love. The Margaritas were also excellent. Service was great. We will definitely be going back and bringing friends.😊
Been here a couple of times now and what can I say, one of the best higher end authentic Mexican food I’ve ever had. Don’t be fooled by its pretty plain and minimal exterior/interior, the food here is exceptional. The tacos are fantastic, with the pork one being my favorite. The pork taco reminds me very much of a lamb taco from a trendy michelin-starred Mexican restaurant in a more “hip” part of north Brooklyn….except their taco is 18 dollars for two and Aleli’s is $3.75 each (you’ll know what restaurant I am comparing to if you’ve been there).Regardless Aleli is definitely worth your attention if you’re looking for some real authentic Mexican with great quality and some modern twists. Drinks are good too!Sidenote: I really hope they have the opportunity to redo the decor. The space has huge potential but just feels a little bare at the moment. Some light dimmers, some candles, some more tropical plants and maybe a larger wall mural will really transform this restaurant and do wonders.
The restaurant staff was very warm and friendly. From my perspective, it seemed family-managed with a father & son present running the dining area. The prices for the dish were extremely fair being in Bayridge. In addition, the taste of the plates were very unexpected in a positive light with a slight kick to traditional Mexican recipes. Even the owner of the business was kind enough to take photos by the decoration with my wife to help promote his business being only a year in town.My score still stands at 5 stars only to some suggestions to the owner: a recommendation to invest in light dimmers. At times I felt our table was extremely well lit however that didnt really bother me as a diner but it could damper the experience to perhaps a couple going for a romantic ambiance. A second recommendation is to have condiments available at the table. It was unusual that salt, pepper and additional napkins werent present at each table. My final suggestion is to decorate the restaurant further - the establishment has SOOO much potential. The walls are massive and it appears to be built well so take advantage with more decoration or artwork. Other than that, for a business only a year in town (especially a crummy year at best) I cannot wait to visit once more!
I was hosting a small gathering for a virtual fundraiser on Cinco De Mayo. Really wanted to support this new local place. Read the reviews, placed my catering order and crossed my fingers it was as good as everyone claimed. Well...I am hooked! Fermin the manager took great care in helping me place the perfect order for my guests. They showed up on time and the order was correct. The food is seriously amazing. The chicken abodabo was crazy good...lick the plate good. The tacos were so delicious. Pipian Verde Yum! They gave us plenty of extra sauce, marked the sauces so we knew what sauce went with which dish etc. If the delivered food was that good I cant wait to go there and eat it hot out of the kitchen. Yes its a little pricey but its worth it and its comparable to a nice dinner out. Welcome to the neighborhood Aleli!!
AMAZING!!! Me and the family were in the neighborhood looking for a random place to eat and came across this gem. Everything was FRESHLY prepared and authentic Mexican food. I live in New Jersey and will definitely take the drive back to this wonderful establishment. We ordered the chips w/ guacamole, veggie burrito, rice and seafood, side of rice and beans.
Got to meet the owner while waiting for my green and mole poblano enchiladas. Very nice chat with a man that’s making a humongous effort to keep this restaurant afloat. He started with 2020 and we all know what happened next and he’s still here. Great food we had. His high end Tequilas are also difficult to find even in good places in Mexico. This is very good food and whoever is expecting to find a cheap burrito better go to Taco Bell. Aleli surprised us with its delicious enchiladas. Coming back for sure. Felicidades!
BEST fish tacos I’ve ever had. Fried to perfection. Everything was so flavorful. Restaurant staff were friendly and funny. I will come back often for the fish tacos, chicken mole and octopus tostada.Anyone that says it’s pricey are probably use to chipotle and Taco Bell. This place is NOT that! Aleli is comparable to authentic/upscale food you find in Mexico City.Recommendation: could use better ambience lighting indoors and outdoors. Hire more staff, I saw a few people walk away because they were not acknowledged or seated right away. Understandable though! The waiters were so swamped.
My wife and I stop by while waiting for my daughter from girl scouts, and we find out it was the Happy hour 😃 so we ordered the strawberry margarita +guacamole +vegetable quesadilla, we were happily surprised with the real Mexican style flavor in both drinks and food. and when I said real I mean like if you were there in any place in mexico because now here NY there are so many mexican restaurants that are just an american twerk of mexican food. and I have to say I was skeptical in the beginning because this restaurant doesnt looks very Mexican from outside,, but now I want to come back to try other dishes and wishing having same experience.
We ordered dinner from Aleli this evening and I must say we were very pleased with food. The octopus appetizer was excellent and the chicken burritos were awesome!!! If your looking for clean, authentic Mexican food Aleli is your place! We will definitely be ordering from them again soon.
I was introduced to this place by a friend of mine. Food is delicious. I think this is the best authentic Mexican food I’ve had in years. Sangrias are amazing. Service - they are so sweet and so polite. I enjoy going every time. I highly recommend this place to anyone. Please try their pollo adobado and white sangria. Delicious!!!!!5 ⭐️
Excellent food and drinks. Service just as good. Homemade Guacamole is out of this world. As for the 1 star review from Mike, he gave 1 star because of the price. People like you should stay home and eat frozen dinners. The prices here arent really high. I dont know what hes talking about.
Such a welcome addition to the neighborhood that already had a bunch of taco places that are all exactly the same. 1st the service was great, the decor is modern with lots of plants. 2nd the food was awesome, we had guac, tacos, the shrimp ceviche type appetizer, quesadilla and the fish of the day (we love that it comes with veggies rather then rice and beans). I had to give up my fish taco to one of the kids who couldnt wait for his 2nd one to come. Drinks are great too. Will definitely return.
Refined Mexican food. Not your typical fare. Delicious, thoughtfully presented with great service. Short rib and coconut flan were excellent. If we could change anything, it would be to have warmer/lower lighting for a more romantic ambiance. Otherwise a great experience!
Let me start by saying I’m so glad they changed their menu. When they first opened, I didn’t think they would survive based on their menu, and the prices. Then coronavirus hit, and I thought they might not be back. When they re-opened, they had drastically changed their menu, for the better imho. I’ve had quite a few of their dishes, and just the other day I had their burrito, which is what prompted this review. It was one of the best burritos I’ve ever had! Their chicken mole poblano, their chicken adobado, their tacos (I’ve had all of them except the chorizo), guacamole are all excellent. I wish they included beans with the adobado dish in particular, but this is a small complaint. They are friendly and food is fresh and very tasty. Bay Ridge has a few Mexican restaurants and a Cali Mexican restaurant in Hobrah, but in my opinion, this is the best Mexican restaurant in Bay Ridge...by far. You owe it to yourself to try them out.
A welcome addition to a neighborhood which has very few authentic Mexican places. Aleli is more on the contemporary Mexican side of things, a place youd go for a beautifully prepared unique entrée that probably took all day to make, as theres so much complexity in the sauces. Chicken enchiladas were amazing — loved the pipián verde and toasted sesame seeds on top — it has all the components of a well balanced dish (salt, fat, acid, heat). My partner had the short rib, very different flavor but equally as good. Service was attentive and even brought over some additional napkins before we asked. Will be going back!

2022-06-27Always fresh and flavorful--presentation on point. Ive dined here since the pandemic, and the quality has always been excellent. Ambiance is so peaceful and vibrant. The owners of this business are incredibly humble. They had to push their grand opening once the pandemic hit but Im glad they persevered. If youre surprised its a quiet spot, enjoy it while it lasts. Every dish is made delicately and bursting with flavour. And forgot to mention: ample vegan and gluten free options

2022-05-10Rainy Saturday around lunch time and the other area restaurants were full or closed. Aleli was empty, which usually doesnt bode well, but we were hungry and done searching. We started with delicious guac and chips. A little salty which I happen to love. My three-year-old was also a fan!We also ordered a salad which ended up being huge and tasty.Other people in my party got fish and shrimp tacos. While I didnt get exact reviews on everything, I was told the fish tacos were great.I got the grilled fish of the day which was salmon. The salmon was crispy skin up, over a delicious sauce and nice mix of vegetables.Staff was attentive and helpful with all our questions/needs.I cannot understand why we were the only patrons, but we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely be coming back.

2021-10-07I went by yesterday, got the chicken enchiladas and my bf got beef quesadilla, let me tell you that it was DELICIOUS! Only issue is that is a bit pricey for the portions, the place is very clean and nice and good atmosphere general.

2021-08-16One of the latest Mexican restaurants in Bay Ridge and I have been there twice in the last few weeks. The staff is friendly, restaurant is clean, food is good, and prices are reasonable. They had be at tacos.... I had my mind on getting some tacos and a cocktail recently and was so disappointed when they were full when I got there but then I saw the brunch menu and went back and I was not disappointed.

2022-07-16This is the second time at Aleli, which the owner said is a flower in Mexico. What a treat! Fresh, delicious, beautiful food! So reasonable too! This is good you’d get in Manhattan for twice the price. It’s also healthy and you actually feel great after eating there. It offers a nice variety of menu options not seen in traditional Mexican restaurants. I highly, highly recommend. I would suggest the owner brighten up the restaurant’s façade. It’s hard to see at night. Looked almost closed. The front should be as beautiful as the food and service was. Loved it!!!

2022-06-12Delicious and authentic Mexican food! We had such a great experience, we ordered so many things and loved everything from the traditional guacamole, street corn, tacos and the burrito. 2021-08-26On the recommendation of a few Bay Ridge acquaintances I went to try Aleli last night. Exactly as I was told, the drinks are amazing, and the food is fresh and flavorful. Pictured is the Grapefruit Mezcal and Octopus Tostada. My partner ordered two tacos, one meat and one chicken, and even as a non-meat eater myself I could tell how full of flavor and juice they were. The place is incredibly clean, very minimalist, and overall great environment.

2020-07-07Aleli has the best fish tacos in Bay Ridge! This restaurant is worth trying and supporting. They have a backyard which they plan to open soon and it is wheelchair accessible (ramp in front and large bathroom). They just got their liquor license (as of July 1, 2020).
