Nice movie theater. But has a very small concession stand. And it is very very large. About 5 floors. So when your running late to a movie it will definitely take you about 5-7 min to get to the top floor. But the rooms are very large and the screen is often clean and with good resolution.
Went to go see Doctor Strange here in IMAX and Im here to tell you that IMAX here is NOT IMAX. The screen is TINY for something that should be IMAX and they make you pay extra for the IMAX experience. Please save your money and dont pay for that. Ive been coming to this theater for 10+ years and this was my first time seeing a movie in IMAX (i never really cared about IMAX) and it was truly disappointing. Regal across the street from this AMC has a bigger screen for their RPX theater so thats where Ill be going from now on. So disappointing. Also, some of the chairs in their Dolby theater are broken and the reclining doesnt work so good luck on getting a working chair.
Enjoyed my experience at AMC Empire 25 and only my 2nd time seeing a movie since the pandemic. 11:30am showing, nice and quiet. F9 same old crazy stunts however, entertaining.Just saw The Batman on March 9th in Dolby Prime, fantabulous movie, definitely check it out.Dolby Prime is definitely the way to go.Menu also has gotten better as far as options.
This theatre has seen better days. I used to go here when it first opened so I have so much to compare to. Its glory days are far behind it, hopefully AMC does something to improve the customer experience, staff training and general ambience of the place. The competitor across the street is so much better.
The Dolby theatre was great to watch a movie in, however the rest of the building was kind of a mess. Escalators out of order, only plain popcorn left as a food option, staff cleaning the theatre telling customers to get out while they clean (could have just put a sign up outside?) and no toilet paper in the bathrooms, but lots of mess. Good theatre, but bad management and care.
The Dolby Vision/Atmos theater is very nice. However, I think the sound needs calibration. There were minimal lines to get soda and Popcorn, the service couldnt be worse, lousy! There was no ice for the vending machines, no one to help! The caramelized popcorn was delicious though!
Should have some advisory when booking tickets that this is your view in seats 16 & 17 in some theaters. Paid same price as other seats and they don’t tell you. Moved to my left and kinda saw the screen but still was obstructed. Should be discounted or not even exist.
BED BUGS!!!Went yesterday and got bit on my elbow. I’m allergic so I started swelling immediately and left before the movie was over.As not everyone reacts to bed bug bites, check your seats and arm rests before sitting down!!!!!!!!!!If you get bit in this theater, highly suggest doing what I did.Go to H&M and buy a whole new outfit and dry the one you wore the the theater on high heat for 30 mins before entering your house OR have someone check your clothing.Told the staff, and they were dismissive (they probably don’t get paid enough care - and I don’t blame them). Because it was a private screening, I couldn’t necessarily get a refund.Theater 2, back row
I did the private theater rental. The Theater was clean and the staff was nice. My only issues is the rule that you go in 15mintues before you show. Which makes it harder to get everything before the movie starts. I also pre-ordered food. Don’t do it. Just get your food when you are there because nothing was ready. For some reason the kids pack don’t come in boxes which is what I was hoping for easy pass out to the little ones. That Cameo pack was a damn small popcorn and drink. Not only was my stuff not ready. I didn’t get all that I ordered and got the wrong stuff. Ordered 6 cheese and 3 pepperoni got 9 pepperoni. Order the Cameo pack got 8 popcorns out of the 10 but all got 10 cups. I think I the 20 kids pack but like I said not in boxes. If you going to do a private rental just don’t do in a busy theater.
Once the pinnacle of theaters in the city, this cine behemoth has fallen immensely...unless you get a lucky showroom, dont be surprised if your seat is broken, or the arm rest is broken, or the upholstery is torn or stained. And while the staff is super friendly, theyre overwhelmed because even the line for A-Listers took about 30 mins for service.
I had a good experience IMAX was clean comfy.i really in joy watching the movie everyone had face mask should my vaccination card.staff very nice i will go back soon. This Friday food was ok 🍕 so good mac balls also to me 😋 a day off from work stress had a great time.i wish they would clean the floors on standard theater.
Nice theater. Giant a-hole was checking tickets today though. Man seems to think hes police or something. I was in the theater because I had already watched one movie. There was a 40 minute wait between the first movie and the beginning of the next one, so I went to get my ticket scanned and refill my drink. This guy tells me I need to wait outside (behind the rope), after scanning my ticket. I was like, thats fair. Then when it came time for me to enter, I pulled out my ticket again (QR code). I explained that he had already scanned it, so I dont know what it would say on his little scanner thing. Instead of saying he just needed to make sure, he turns up his cop attitude again and tells me, Forget what I scanned or didnt scan. I have to see your ticket again. Idk who talks to customers like that. I paid to be here. Show some common courtesy, ya POS.
Theater is old, but its got every format to watch a film. I saw Everything All at Once in Prime. The Prime seats didnt vibrate and there was zero bass from the movie. Im not sure if the subwoofers in the seats are broken. I watched The Batman in Prime at the Wayne NJ AMC. Everytime there was action, the seats would vibrate. I didnt get that from this AMC
Definitely a fun spot to go and see all the great movies. Youll have fun here. Family-Friendly-Fun. Everybody will have a good time. Lots of movie selections to choose from. I recommend going on Tuesdays. AMC Tuesdays, you can get the movie tickets for $5. (Actually $6 + tax, but thats still better than $16 a person on a regular day). If a big movie is coming out, get your tickets early. They have seat selection reservation to stop movie hoppers and seat hogs... Beyond that, the Nachos are good. They give you 2 cheese dipping sauces standard now. They have lots of candy here but thats very expensive. Sometimes it costs more than the movie tickets. So Id recommend eat chocolate candy outside before you go in there. Besides expensive candy, the floors are not always cleaned up after every movie viewing, so be careful of that. Rodents are running amuck in there. (But rodents are every where in this city, so what can you really do?) Other than that, youll have a great time here.
The movies are a plus but the place is in bad need of renovation. The outdated, dirty reserved seats are non-reclining and stiff -leaning way too far back- in comparison to the modern, cushioned Stadium Type seating at other movie theaters. The sound systems is also SUPER LOUD that one may have to bring ear plugs to survive its sonic assault... are the other 24 movie theaters the same? I dont think I want to find out.
Another wonderful location for movies, in fact its one of my favorites due to fact that everything is available in the surrounding areas. Manhattan 34th st and 42nd street Time Square Subway Station 🚉 that will take you anywhere in or out of city, bus 🚌 Cabs 🚖. Delis/Delhis, clothes stores, fast food chains of all sorts, restaurants of sorts and many more. You name then they probably got it.. Fact is time spent here will be well worth as you might be coming from another closeby activity and want to finish of the evening with the perfect movie or vise versa.
I love going to this movie theater when I’m on this side of the city. On of my girlfriends bought me the stubs membership program. Can honestly say, its one of the best birthday gifts Ive gotten in a long time. I find myself mostly going weekly to the theater. They offer several perks, which include $5 tickets on Tuesdays. But if youre not a member , you can still cash in on amazing deals, like half price for movie tickets before 12pm. I find that the theater is spacious and very comfortable. It’s great for hanging out with family, friends or even with a date ;). They offer a high quality theater experience, so you feel like youre getting more than your moneys worth. The staffs are kind and always helpful. One thing that did turn me off on several occasions was that I had reserved my seat and ticket ahead of time and when I got there, someone was in my seat and was reluctant to move. But other than that, U highly recommend this theatre!!!!
There are many screens then normal so, you could find more movies to select from, that’s the only reason I tried this location as it might offer moves which are screening from more than a month. Seats are not that great, I would prefer recliners at other amc locations. You need to take 5-6 escalators to go to the theaters on the top floors and it’s frustrating going through those .
Huge theater in the middle of Tim Sqaure. It’s spread out across multiple floors and is accessed by elevators or escalators. Tickets are sold with reserved seats which is awesome. The hallways and bathrooms are clean and well kept. They have added near screens with recliners like the Dolby or iMax cinema but the majority is very old screens with cloth stadium seating. AMC stubs is their loyalty program and it has multiple tries. The entry level tier is free to join and gets you points for each purchase as well as $6 standard movie tickets on Tuesday.
Its always a treat to see a movie with a great soundtrack in one of their Dolby Digital theaters. An added bonus was how strict theyre being with their COVID rules on entry, so the environment feels reasonably safe. The deducted star is for not being the Alamo Draft House which would have made it possible for them to eject the jerk in front of me who couldnt stay off his cell phone for more than 5 minutes, but aside from that...a great experience!
Simple theater with nothing special. It’s in Times Square which *can* be convenient for people meeting at, but it’s also in Times Square which is a rotten place to meet anyone. With assigned seating there’s more control with the patrons and ensuring that only ticketed guests are lingering.
This is a beautiful cinema to see movies. With its perfect location, cool views and friendly environment, its a place I will surely recommend.I also love the taste of the popcorns, chickens and fries. You dont have to worry if you walk in hungry, theyve got you covered.
This is a huge AMC theatre in a very busy and touristy neighborhood. They have an array of ticket kiosks and also staff by counter to help with the tickets. I picked a ticket for the Sonic movie right on time and headed upstairs. Don’t complain about the ticket cost when you are watching a movie in NY.There are long and tall escalators that lead from floor to floor that almost make you think you are in a shopping mall. You need to plan getting to your show on time, also keeping the escalator commute in mind ;)I got a mix of the cheddar cheese and apple flavored(try on your own peril) popcorn and entered a cinema hall that was huge and spacious. I was amazed to find so many screens inside one single theatre as I got to mine.Since it was almost ten days after the movie was released, there wasn’t much crowd. I cannot complain about the audio-video of the theatre and it was decent enough. But, there were a lot of seats that had their cushion torn and didn’t look good. The washrooms were in good condition and the exit was out through Dave and Busters.
The theater is definitely starting to show its age, but otherwise at the time was the nearest and easily accessible location. Some of the carpet has a smell of wet towel. The Dolby cinema had great black leather recliner seats that are spacious for a large person compare to the other regular theater rooms. Nacho cheese was good the staff has friendly they can be for a sunday morning. The only complaint i have is the soda machine, half doesnt work and the ones that does needs to be cleaned out. There was a odd taste with the cola.
This place is at the heart of Times Square. Right on the 42nd Street, beside the Madame Tussauds building. It has around 25 movie auditoriums inside which play movies all round the clock.Cleanliness is one of the most highlighted feature of this place. It has a carpeted floor which is quite easy to walk upon. Moreover, it has enough restrooms for both men and women, I found a restroom for every 2-3 halls. One of the most important feature of this AMC is that it offers reserved seating. Hence you can walk in anytime with peace of mind and be confident that your preferred seat is reserved.I would recommend going here everytime you watch a movie since this is in the heart of Times Square and you also get a nice view of NYC.
Not only are the staff absolutely rude, but this one guy in a wheelchair, I didn’t see his name because they refuse to wear their name tags, started raising his voice at me and that’s absolutely disgusting service when we needed to return our tickets. And they’re still enforcing illegal mandates that were already removed as per March 7th 2022 for ALL ENTERTAINMENT VENUES.
A go to place for all movie as it has 26 auditoriums and its easy to book online. If you are a regular movie watcher, I would suggest to purchase A-list membership.Snacks ordering is only available on 3rd floor, so be prepared to order there before moving to upper levels. Not all auditorium have recliners, but the sound effects is what brings me over here. Some of the auditorium have a bit of screen issues, hope they repair them.
I should have listened to the other reviews and waited the extra 30 mins to go literally across the street to Regal. It was a very enclosed, the seats do not recline and they were very torn and tatered. The isle space is non existent, and it smells funny. The tickets across the street were $1 more for reclining leather seats. Wouldve been worth it.
Ive been here plenty of times. This movie theater is very nice, usually very clean as well. Friendly staff. However, because of the location, this place is not cheap whatsoever, the concession stand food is overpriced. But you will definitely have a great time at this theater, otherwise. If you are looking to buy food or snacks, make sure to come earlier because the lines can get pretty long.
I went today to watch a movie since I havent gone since the pandemic, there was nobody at the counter I proceeded to purchase a ticket , the machine did not take cash, I asked an employee that was working in one machine if he could help, he directed me to another machine, that one didnt take cash either I told the employee if he could help he said he couldnt at that moment so I left! It is unbelievable that as expensive that it is to go watch a movie there is no customer service and you have to do everything yourself. Bad experience
Definitely one of the best AMCs New York City has to offer but could use some improvement! Auditoriums are very large with great quality screens but seats on the 3d and regular movies could be a bit more comfortable and with more adjustments. You can see in several auditoriums the age of the seats. That being said the imax and Dolby are amazing and look almost brand new definitely worth the extra money for a different experience! Plenty of bathrooms on almost all floors and popcorn and soda fountains everywhere! With some small improvements it would be amazing but still recommend trying it especially for the Dolby and imax experience really worth it!!
Don’t come to this trash AMC Theaters! Those people refuse to give me my amc A List about Scream W/ Bonus showtime that I watched but no Bonus content showing, the regular film I can watch any day but the Bonus is limited time, but there’s no bonus content and those staffs and the wheelchair dude refused to give me my money back nor giving me a REentry ticket! Ik they serve rare films and anime but not with their charisma! Maybe those films companies should stop giving them rare films and give rare films to best amc theaters like Newport Mall NJ or 34th NYC one other than this room of junk!
Finally a change of mgmt. I noticed an escalator was off and the downstairs mgr. headed right over with his keys and fixed it. Great elevator service too. Saw Matrix 1999 and the new Dolby ATMOS sound made it seem brand new. I would go back again for that $5 budget pricing which occurs with older films regularly. Also the A-list program gives cinephiles 12 movies for the price of 1 IN IMAX. Thats better pricing than subscription theaters in NYC like Film Forum Lincoln Center IFC center and the Roxy. Lotsa reclining seats replacing older ones & Stadium seating... Something youll never see on Broadway (Scrooges). No one will EVER kick the back of your chair EVER again (whats THAT worth granny?) PLUS Dolby has Ultimate digital vid with 26 track audio that puts 35mm to shame (70mm TOO). And the 42nd st venue has a PRIME room with ALL the enhancements for total customer satisfaction (3-words the Bway still ignores as is their TRADITION). Go back to the movies people Pre-covid blues r gone and the AMC spent their stimulus 💰 on respecting the audience. Pay them BACK. Get your whole family on the AMC A-list NOW ... And ignore the Bway entirely till they do likewise.
I love this theatre. Don’t be fooled! Your not reclining back on a bob-o-pedic 399.99 recliner. These recliners do everything but the hanky panky. They are pure luxury and bliss. Everyone’s treated as if they royal share holder of the AMC ape army. The structure and architecture is so beautiful in every theatre. Don’t be surprised if you pay for a ticket but find yourself a$$ down staring up at the ceiling like astrology class in high school looking for the Big Dipper. The popcorn is amazing. Rumor has it that if your display your share holding of AMC stock they will literally melt 14k gold all over your popcorn!!!
There are certainly better AMC theaters with better seating for Digital showtimes and shorter concession lines and there is always the danger of an escalator ending up out of service and causing for a buildup of people on the escalator before it that DOES work which is just incredibly reckless of the theater to allow.
330pm showing slow staff no nachos no pretzels and no promo items sold out by second showing ? seats in room 6 old and ripped room smelled like sweaty armpits half of the dispensers were empty and soda dispensers all wet avoid this place at all costs will never go back
We go here for first time spend $150 on food, drinks, and tickets for 5 people. When we finally get up stairs to the theater for the show this is what we are greeted with. It was 10am. You telling me nobody could stay and pick up all this popcorn and other garbage. Not going to 42st ever again. Unless it to go across the street to the regal theater. I only thing I like is the soda mechanics are on my side and I could choose what I would like to drink. Refill as much as I want but we didnt too busy watching the movie. I give that 1 star. The food was a lot compared to all the theater I been to. So that gets a star.
The downstairs very rude male staff name London has serious bad attitude and Was very very rude and wasn’t paying attention what I was saying about movies shows and on that he was busy on his phone txting and chatting with his co worker rather listening what I said.Worst n horrible experience I had with that staff name London.
This movie theater multiplex gets quite crowded, especially later in the day. Some of the movie showings are noisy. I would order my tickets well before the start time and give myself some extra time to get to my seat in time. They are located near The Port Authority bus station so it is convenient to all subway lines. There is little in the way of street parking but there are parking lots nearby.
I was in theater 22 on the top floor. Elevator did not work and the first two escalators did not work so no recourse other than climb. Concessions on the top 3 floors were all closed. This was a noon showing on Sunday. You pick your own seats when purchasing tickets, but if I had known the screen was small and off-center I would have selected differently. Seat was comfortable even for a film almost 3 hours in length.
I thought it was wonderful I think the only thing I would really like is if it had the chairs that would go back automatically or be able to have leg rest I think that would be awesome you know because especially it being in Manhattan time square I would think AMC would have better chairs there Ive been to several theaters around the country and the seating was much better but the quality of the movie was good the snacks were good the popcorn was good the soda was good at the candy was good hot dogs Id give it probably seven out of 10 but otherwise I think the only thing like I said would be better chairs otherwise its a wonderful place
Wow i gotta say they were organized when i came in at 830 for spiderman. They checked my covid vac and id on the way in very efficiently while receiving a large amount of volume. Im a member so i didnt wait for snacks and there were a bunch of tourists and i eyeballed them as i skipped all of them because they shouldve paid for the membership lol. The prime theatre here is a great experience 👌
Love the seats and environment. Great quality food too!! Wish they had reclinable seats though. But they make up for it with limited release and foreign movies that most others dont have! Staff can be kinda nosey. Ive been going here for about 20 years. NO BEDBUGS!!!!!!!!!!!
In the middle of Times Square, AMC Empire 25 is a great location to see a movie. The high escalators are a must for the actual theaters located up very very high. The concessions are a bit overpriced per usual ( it is NYC). Seating is comfortable. I have run into long lines getting in but not too much.
Spacious, variety of theaters and selections, bathrooms on each floor, fountains on each floor, escalators or elevator options. I loved it, l recommend it to all movie lovers.Clean and fresh environment with machines on each floor to get or refill your drinks.Did l mention that they have ports and the stuff is super friendly if the ticket is confusing or you dont know your way
Just left a screening of Dune. Had some green and pink overlays across the movie after a certain point. Left but the manager Jared or Jarrod helped and gave me a free ticket free drink and free popcorn to compensate. He was awesome. I rate it 5 stars for the costumer service. Thank you Jared or Jarrod
So they have the most movies and showtimes in Manhattan. The snack line moves pretty briskly and on weekends they have several floors with concessions staffed. This is also one of the few locations with AMC Prime theaters which have reverberating and reclining seats. Also available is the Dolby theater for unbeatable sound quality. The IMAX there is good but not true gigantic IMAX. its a bit smaller than true IMAX but still pretty good and has stadium seating.Sometimes, Times Sq being what it is, you get a Lotta young teens hanging out. But generally speaking most of my visits have been peaceful.I give it a 4.5 but bumping it up to 5 for powering thru thr pandemic. McDonalds closed down but AMC remained on 42nd Street during the pandemic. Props to that!
My experience went very well. I went on a Tuesday because they have $5 Tuesday deals where the movies are only $5. The food was type pricey. I ordered curly fries with chicken tenders (they give 5) the food was a decent amount. It was good although they couldve cooked it for a little longer. The staff was amazing except for the lady in the 2nd floor that you give the ticket before going up the stairs to your theater where your movie is showing. She was very rude. The movie experience itself went great. They do make you pick a seat when buying your ticket. I recommend this place.
My visit was planned a month in advance and it was the first time I even stepped into a theater in 17 months. It was just what I expected! The film was great, the staff was friendly, the attendance was sparse enough for me to feel very safe, and sanitation was much better than in 2019! Plus, two weeks later and I felt fine. No symptoms! Theyre doing a great job keeping it clean and safe. I highly recommend you be vaccinated, AND wear a mask inside the theater.
The movie theater was nice, especially because it was almost empty (covid+weekday). Ive been here before and overall I dont really have complaints. The bathrooms could be more modern but this is NYC were talking about. There were some people making noise all throughout the movie but it was bearable. To be fair, I only came here because it offered the most convenient time for the movie I was watching. I dont really see a reason to go to this theater specifically, other than convenience (like me). If you are choosing between this location and another one, I can vouch for this one.
Dolby sound was amazing. Extremely deep Bass and great picture. My entire row of reclining seats was defective however. They would not recline and when the lights came in I could also see a fair amount of them were torn or cut. This Poor maintenance of seating despite good quality theater a/v took away from me feeling I was getting good value for these high priced tickets.
I went to this cinema house with a full of excitement and happiness. Besides, the staff entertained me with passion, determination, and confidence. When entering the cinema house, I could see that the place was comfortable, big, and quiet. Besides, the foods and the drinks that I bought when watching cinemas taste yummy. Ill be back soon, for it was quite worth it and satisfying here!
Im coming for 3am movie, come late & the front door already closed (where the tickets box are). See some staff inside, trying to get attention but they not bugging. Knock the door many times & called for 15-20min, finally the staff coming out. Missed half an hour movie!#neveragain
This place is horrible Im thankful that I got to buy my tickets from a kiosk. Service was bad, the pretzel bites were horrendous an seating was atrocious! When purchasing tickets you get to choose where you want to sit in the theatre. Yet when you get to your seat theres a guys refusing to move an no one to help or enforce these rules. I will never step foot inside this disgraceful AMC again!
It is very good to have such a big cinema in this busy area, and it is Convenient transportation. A lot of subway and bus set a near stop. Most of popular movie can be found showtime here, even the Chinese movie. Also, they have a classical designed ha The only thing I am not satisfied is that they dont have reclined seat, i think it because there are a lot of audience often, but you can enjoy a bigger screen. So, which would you like better is the last question before you go,reclined seat or bigger screen?
Beware, some of the theater sections (theater 4) is listed to have reserved seating. The expectation is that they would have comfortable reclining seats, with lots of space between each chair, as most reserved seating theaters boast. However, these seats are just like regular seats. They are tight and cramped. Im 5 1 and you could tell from the picture that the seat is almost touching my knee. If youre watching a movie in this particular section, be aware that you are paying an exorbitant amount for regular seats.
It was great to be back in a movie theater for the first time since the pandemic lockdowns. But this theater is looking dated and tired inside. Ditto with regard to the individual theaters. The furniture is still functionally acceptable but not by much. The five floors are clean and neat. None of the monitors are turned on, so you dont even know what movie is playing where. Must be to save on energy costs. The whole place feels like its barely covering the bills.
I dont understand why this theater isnt the pinnacle of AMC theaters. Its 42nd street!! Its always dirty the staff literally looked at me and did nothing while knowing i needed assistance. To top it off I get to my preordered seat and there are rips and tears in it. I ended up sitting somewhere else hoping noone bought that seat. The seats were so small and uncomfortable. They looked so dirty the whole time I was worried about bed bugs. I went to see US paid $18 and the experience was worse than a small theater in my area. I really wish I could get my money back. Not to mention the 4 single file escalators I had to take just to get to my theater SMH
It was good. However I got a bit frustrated because I kept getting wrong directions to my movie since not all doors say what movie theyre playing. Eventually we got to the right floor, fl 6, and I found my door. You should note, unless the concession stand is in the same level as your movie, you should ALWAYS get your food first and then seat yourself because we were all the way on top and I went back down to get popcorn, apparently you cant do that. You can get in with your ticket, thats not the problem, the problem is you dont go back down the same way you came up, so instead of passing the concession stand, it literally takes you on a detour to the Dave & Busters next door so I had to walk out and go back to AMC next door. The gentleman explained you cant go down the same way to the concession stand if need be because the exit is meant to be next door, as to not crowd the entrance. I showed my ticket and he let me in, all was fine and dandy. But just keep that in mind. Besides that, it was fine, popcorn, drink was good, seats were very comfy, they also had cup holders.
The movie was great and the theater was cleaned and nicely spaced out between people. They are allowing people to walk around without masks if they are vaccinated. Not sure if I agree with that but I understand that the guidelines are lifting. The popcorn was good but the soda was flat. The bathroom I used was very clean.
During this pandemic, It was a couple of months that I didnt go to any movie theaters. But when the time they open, I grab the opportunity to watch my favorite movie. I was so happy and comfortable inside the theater because we all wear a mask and observed social distancing.
The seats are really comfortable, the butter popcorn is the best. There are many theatres at one floor, there are total four floors of Amc, then there is Dave and Bisters, if you wanna play at at arcade, you can go there. One more thing, buy a cold drink, pay for it, drink it, if its over no need to buy another one you can have free refills and the thing is they are unlimited, we refilled it 3 times and it was free.
Took the kids to see Jurassic World and there was no lines for the concession stands🙌🏾Amen! The service was fast and friendly! I ordered my tix off fandango and was able to pick them up at the station booth with the code they email to you. After the movies we took pics!
This used to be my favorite Movie theater, but now always crowded. Popcorn and soda stations are closed at all levels except main lobby. If you go up to your movie thinking you will buy your popcorn there your going to be surprised to see the station closed. To get back down to the main lobby takes like 10 minutes and have to go back out to the street and up the escalators again. The lines are so long that I missed almost half the movie. Will never go back to this theater. Look at my picture of the crazy lines. Avoid this place..
I usually go to AMC theaters, as a Stubs list holder, and this is by far the most outdated theater I’ve been to. It’s like stepping back to the early 2000s. The seats are close together, dirty, and the auditorium has a weird odor to it. I would recommend going to any other AMC, such as the AMC 34th street. Never coming back here!
Relative to other AMC theaters, theres Tons of great screens. Esp the Dolby and Imax laser screens. Id watch paint dry on a Dolby screen. They have a great slection - foreign and special events incl.I miss living near this place. The AMC near me has literally 80% less movies playing and all on average screens.Miss that Dolby. While id never suggest this in a normal theater, here you should Sit front row... its special.
Its a good theater but...everything is vertical so you better get there early because the only ways to get up to your theater are the one set of up escalators and one elevator. The concessions stand on the first level is always open but there are concessions counters on the other levels that are clearly operational, stocked with napkins and even the soda machines work for your refills but they are rarely open for purchases. Want to sneak out during the previews and stock up on Junior Mints? Well, if its a weekend, evening or theres just a very popular film playing, get ready not only for a long wait on their only open concession stand but youll have to walk past a closed snack counter to get there! After a late show, if your movie ends after the theater closes, there are no employees in the lobby or public areas to greet you, say thank you or help you in any way. I find this extremely disconcerting. If youre old or disabled; if you have a complaint or compliment, I guess you can pound sand because they dont wanna help you out or hear from you. You saw your movie. We got your money. Now get out! Thats the way it feels when theaters do that. The positive is the chains presentation. And ultimately, were there to watch the movies! Some theaters sound is too low or not really in stereo. Occasionally, therell be a theater thats out to induce hearing loss by cranking the sound up to headache-inducing levels and it feels like its done out of spite. At AMC the sound is always perfect! When it comes to the picture, the projection at some theaters is particularly dim and for a film that has a dark color palette, this can ruin your enjoyment because youll be squinting half the time. Im happy to say the actual movies always present with the proper color and light balance. And the sound is always appropriate for the audience size. For example, Ghost in the Shell looked and sounded incredible on their screen on opening day. And a drama like The Post felt as cinematic as The Last Jedi. For comparison, I saw The Last Jedi at two theaters, once with my wife at AMC. Then I took my kids to another national chain, one of their smaller theaters in Queens and at that second place, it looked flat and muted. That second chain also operates another large theater here in Queens where the movies are presented as well as an AMC theater so I think just that one small location is meh but even the smaller AMC theaters present the movies correctly. No excuses. Ive NEVER been been disappointed in how a movie looks or sounds at the Times Square AMC. But can we have a few people on staff to say thank you or help us out after a late show?
I would give a 5-star rating to this cinema. It was a very updated and modern aura inside. Their speakers were not too loud, and it was very clear. The air-conditioned is not too cold, just controllable. I love most of their seats. It was also very tidy, and the ushers were friendly. We love every time we are here! Thanks, guys!
While overall I do prefer the Lincoln Square AMC location its hard to beat the amount of auditoriums and options at this theater. Thanks to the huge number of auditoriums this is usually the AMC theater that features the most limited release and foreign films. They also have options like IMAX and Dolby auditoriums which provide better quality screens and sound. Definitely recommend it over the regal across the street!
My first movie back since the pandemic hit, and it was an exciting ride--Black Widow! The IMAX theater was clean, as was the rest of the theater building that I could see.Every seat except the first 2 rows were filled, so if you dont want to be stick in crowds at this time dont visit a theater. Also, most folks werent wearing masks, but dont let that stop you if you feel better that way in public.
Staff friendly, vaccination card and ID check was indeed a good thing. The theater seat cup holders were filty. I would have thought for being closed during covid 19 unsurity, the theater would have been cleaned. The drink holder was very yukkie!!!Otherwise good experience.
The place in general looked clean. They checked for VAC-cards/Ids. (Thats a good thing) Bathroom on 4th FL. was clean. They have security, but we didnt see them on the 4th FL. After 7:40pm concession stand was closed on 4th fl. Make sure to stop on 3rd first to get your snacks. Give yourself enough time cause escalators are slow going up. PS: 1 out of 5 for the movie we saw.
The movies are back and the experience is a la carte. I just gotta say theres something great about heading to the theater with friends, date, or even going solo and seeing something on the big screen. Check out prime and dolby the upgrades in the quality of sound and picture demonstrate how we all need the cinema. So to those who hesitant of getting back to the big screen, go ahead
Clear screen, great sound, and a perfect place for a movie house. I was shocked on how transparent this place could cost me. It was very suitable for my budgets. We truly enjoyed the place and the movies we did watch that day. I will honestly be telling all of my friends about this marvelous place. A magnificent staff to deal with.I am very happy with my experience. Every time I go its a great experience. Only thing is that the concession stand has a crazy line at times and theres only like 2 people working. And the line that was suppose to be for Alist members was ignored completely. Massive theater with multiple screens, plush reclining seats with cup holders. Plenty of automated kiosks so theres no waiting in line to get your movie ticket.
Bought tickets online. Got 30% Off on a Saturday matinee screening of In The Heights (great movie, btw!).The theater was clean, staff was helpful.Fully vaccinated people dont need to wear masks.Theater is still saving social distancing seats in between patrons (that are not together, of course).
This AMC theater is one of the few in Manhattan that offers comfortable leather reclining seats. Since late 2016 it is quite difficult to use the AMC app or website to purchase tickets in advance or online. (Lost a star for that inconvenience). Fortunately, you can arrive up to 24 hours early to buy tickets and reserve seats. On that note, the movies in theater 8 get the special Dolby audio. The seats on that theater are the best too. Unfortunately, the balconies overlooking 42nd street have been permanently closed, so if you were planning on taking photos think again.

It was nice to go back to the movies they were taking precaution in social distancing and making sure that we had our masks on. Also they make sure that they seat us considerable distance from each other when buying tickets at the theater. Food is still being served in the movie is enjoyable.

2022-05-02Honestly hadn’t come here since before the pandemic. Decided to take my kids and I remember why I come here. It’s strikingly pretty, enormous, and the city views are beautiful from here. I’ve been coming here all my life and it keeps getting better. I pre ordered tickets and picked them up at the kiosk. I pre ordered my popcorn and soda and picked that up at the concession stand.Refills during dinner are easier now since they have re-fill stations right outside of the theaters, so you don’t have to go downstairs. The theater was not crowded, super clean, and everything I wanted from an NYC movie theater experience.

2022-03-19This was an okay experience. The film I went to see was good. However, the food kiosk was only open on one floor and the cinema seemed to be quite dated and in need of a revamp. They also gave me salted popcorn when I’d asked for sweet, which was pretty disappointing.

2022-02-13My first (and only) time watching a movie in US. It was really good - the theatre was big, with many seats that were quiet comfortable. The staff was very nice and patient with me (not exactly understanding how everything works). Its more expensive than in my country (Israel), but not so much to ruin the experience.

2022-02-25Im reviewing this as a tourist who was staying within walking distance of this theater - honestly, it was great as far as convince for location.I live in Las Vegas and I cant think of a single movie theater on the Las Vegas Strip - youd definitely have to drive to get to the nearest theaters. It was fantastic as a tourist to be right in the middle of Time Square and have access to this theater. My husband and I are AMC Stubs members and we enjoyed this theater.I saw The Worst Person in the World on February 14th in the regular theater and Death on the Nile on February 15th at the Imax screen here. Both times the theaters were clean and were were able to quickly get through the vaccine card checks and through the lines to get caramel & cheddar popcorn ($11.39 for a large.)Ive never had to take so many escalators in my life to get to a theater, but its an experience I guess, and not that big of a deal.Bathrooms were clean and the seats and cupholders were clean (Ive noticed lots of theaters slacking on that lately.)If youre a tourist, this is a perfectly fine theater to visit.

2022-03-31Very clean movie theater including the woman’s bathroom. The reclining seats are very comfortable. I was sitting in theater 8 Dolby Cinema on the third floor.

2022-05-27It’s definitely had some improvements over the years and yet it could use more work on it. However, it remains the same in decor and theater setups (basic seating, either solid screen projection and sound or meh settings) and it is a reliable spot for foreign films and a few indies that happen to showcase here. And it is at the heart of midtown, so easy enough spot to get to. The Dolby Cinema theater though is still quality stuff, being the first NYC theater to feature that setting. Not bad for certain films. But there are better theaters to go to, in NYC.

2021-08-30Excellent place to grab a bite and see lots of movie. We have had several dates their, the food is good (as good as it can be in that context). We had lots of space and we felt safe being in the context of a pandemic because there was distancing and protocols being followed.

2021-12-14To say this AMC theater is rough around the edges is an understatement. It’s dirty, confusing, broken and just really not up the quality of the AMC brand or even other AMC theater locations in NYC. Expect rudeness and dirty everything at the concession stand, peeling paint and dirty carpet smell in the hallways and half broken seats in the theaters. It’s like traveling back in time before theaters upgraded their experiences and that’s not a good thing. If you have the choice of going to a different AMC - take it.

2022-04-19This is my new favorite AMC location!!!They have upgraded their service and always seem to be on top of every little detail.I love this location because they honor the Premier and A-List rewards, they run the concession lines very smoothly and always have 2 people specifically for higher reward members, the way it should and I love it.This location is always clean, I have never had an issue while visiting. Simply love it!!!!It it the most inconvenient because of distance but it’s the one I prefer the most because they do offer the best service.Ohhh, they also have the best popcorn in NY!!! It’s always freshly made and well cooked. I love Dolby and love the fact that they have Dolby right next to the concession area. Love love love it!!!!
