Really like the aMC Kips Bay location. easy to buy tickets via the AMC app and print them out at kiosks or just buy them directly at the kiosks or human-manner ticket stand--they really have this down to a science for the ease of customers. even the lines with vax cards + tickets moves fairly quickly. movies play on time. the theater is superclean and well-maintained (yes, i get less foot traffic in theaters alleviates the mess but even during the height of SM: No Way Home the theater/interior were still super clean). there are variety a theaters both upstairs and below-ground.every theater that i have been in at this location has nice comfortable seats, plenty of armrest room, adjustable head and foot rests, and in general have excellent viewing options no matter where you sit (unless you sit in the first row, but who does that? lol). the crowds (fellow moviegoers) tend have a good vibe and are about watching movies. then again i try to see movie s at non-prime time hours which might skew my perspective.PRO TIP: AMC App is your friend download itwhile its cool and all to watch new movies from the comfort of your home via streaming services. i still value the theater experience bc there are very few things like it now in our ever-increasingly isolationist lives.staff? professional and friendly
Great movie, bad theatre. Due to short staff, this place isn’t running right. It took us 15 minutes just to get in the theater. We were going to miss the beginning so decided to watch the next showing and waited 30 mins. Don’t show up without a ticket! Not worth the wait.
It is a big cinema, and it offer different kind of seats which it includes reclined seat and love seats. it has 15 screens, so there are a lot of movie show time. Some auditoriums are small, so check if there are some seats available before you go, especially you are going to watch a popular movie. i have to use wheel chair companion today.for small auditorium, rear rows are highly recommendation. i cannot watch the hold screen easily when i was sitting in the middle.
Unlike most AMCs in Manhattan, this great movie theater is tucked away on Second Avenue away from major transit hubs that bring masses of people to them. The theater is divided into an upper and lower section both with concession stands and restrooms. All the theaters have the signature AMC red recliners and the sound and picture quality are great. Only downside is this AMC does not have as many premium formats as you would find at the theaters at 34th or Time Square.
One of the best AMC theaters in the city. Always super clean, safe with friendly staff and service. When you see a lot of movies like myself, its a great place to go to because of the convenient location in the city. The comfortable recliner seats are awesome and one of my favorite theaters to go see movies regularly.
This is my main theater I go to in New York City. I can always get a nice seat here and the theaters are large in space. I love the opera seats, I think thats the best view to watch a movie. The adjustable seats are comfy, the workers are nice, the food choices are expanding (delicious food and free refills in drinks). I cant complain about this place. Even the bathroom is nice.
Went here precovid. There seems to be less people who come to this AMC which is nice. Concession didn’t have too long of a line. Not sure how it is now, but it seemed they were not as busy as the other movie theaters. It’s also a long walk from the train. If you live in the area then it’s fine. I just wouldn’t go this far if I had a choice. Otherwise, they were clean and weren’t too busy.
Ticket bought on AMC website/app dont workStaff unable to scan smartphone ticketsTwo old scanning ladies unfriendly and unable to communicate in EnglishMovie reassigned from theatre 15 to theatre 9 which changed our seats from last row to first rowUnable to see screen from first row: these seats shouldnt be sold at old. There are not functional and worth nothing.Telemarketers canvassing in foyer of theatreComplaining with Better Business Bureau. Trying to get full refund.
Place has the feel like its going to close. One person working outside ticket kiosk with no clue which machines were working or not. Took 10 minutes to find machine in front that worked. To bad...used to be a good theater. Nobody working here and the 2 that were, lost....a shame.
I go to this movie theater all of the time, at least once a month. The experience is always great, they have comfy spacious recliner chairs, reserved seating, a lot of movie availability and one of my favorite is they show Ghibli films!Despite how often I go there, I’ve never written a review until my recent movie outing. I went to see Spider-Man far from home, the moment I got to my seat I realized the seats did not recline, which at this point is essential to my movie experience. I immediately approached an AMC staff member and explained the situation and he already had an idea of what the issue is. He explained to me the seat may be disconnected so he can have someone check it out or he could offer us another movie. I choose to have someone come take a look at the seat. He radioed someone and let me know they’d be there shortly. By the time I got back to my seat, there was already someone there working on my seat. Within 2 minutes it was fixed and my seat was reclining again. Now, that’s definitely what I consider great custom service which is why I am writing this review. This place is awesome, the people are awesome and the experience is awesome.ADDITIONALLY: the food is pretty good too! I often get the pepperoni flatbread. It doesn’t last long but it’s tasty!
About the same quality you can expect from any other AMC. It does seem to offer some more foreign films and limited releases compared to others in the city, my only complaint is that a lot of the projector screens are old and wrinkled in places and it should be addressed.
Was kind of disappointed with this place. They do have reclining seats but the are standard size. Ive been to theaters (out of state) where the reclining seats are spacious and there is room between you and the person next to you. Soda machine was out of almost every kind of soda except Coke. Popcorn was stale and the womens restroom floor was a mess.
The chairs were comfortable and there was space throughout the theatre. The staff at the front was pretty rude because as we entered and gave her our ticket, she ripped it haphazardly and seemed to think as if we were a nuisance. The tickets were also very bad as it wasn’t actually a thick “board” type of ticket you would imagine but a tiny flimsy piece of paper.
Watching the movie in this type of environment was absolutely amazing. The reclining chairs really had a major impact on my kids and I enjoyed it as well. The matinee was also very good experience. I really enjoyed going to see a movie nice nearly in the morning. Popcorn still tasted good. Sms the prices were very reasonable.
This theater has great and comfortable seats. Theyve got the coke machines that you select your flavor and fill your cup. They just added the virtual reality in the lobby that was once empty which is cool to try out. My only complaints with this theater are 1.) there never seems to not be enough people working the concessions stand so theres usually a line plus the popcorn is never that great and 2.) a few times Ive been here the movies are always extremely loud... like way to painfully loud.Other than that- great theater with great seats.
Renovated theater w/leather recliner seats. Be sure to elevate your legs. A few theaters have mice (8&9 on 6/16/19). Three floors - enter & purchase tickets on main floor, theaters 1-10 upstairs, theaters 11+ downstairs. Restrooms and concessions on each theater floor. Visited 6x before writing review. Upstairs womens bathroom and theaters need tlc - mop and occasional deep cleaning, shampoo carpets. 2-hr metered street parking Mon-Sat. Free on Sundays.
Great watching experience for the Spiderman movie. My friend Tahmerdior was jumping up and down on his recliner seat watching the intense action scenes! The recliner seats are one of mankinds greatest innovations over the past decade. Teahmeder loved how the seats go all the way back, he was so amazed by the mechanics! In fact, Tehmedor went home and built his own recliner chair at home using his NYU engineering techniques
Although they say the popcorn is freshly popped it was completely cold and tasted like old. The temperature inside the room kept changing from freezing cold to hot which was awful and almost made impossible to enjoy the movie. There was something wrong with the projection, I dont know if it was the movie projector or the screen itself, but the right corner of the screen had some distortion and in some scenes we could see some red and blue auras when there was movement in the scene.
The place is pretty safe. They space people out well in the theaters. I want to see MK and it was great. The sound and screen provided a quality experience. The seats were clean and comfortable. My interaction with staff was limited but always professional and pleasant which is great during this pandemic. I felt safe going to the theater. I will be going back for sure.
This is probably one of the best locations in Manhattan. There are 3 levels. Fully reclining seats. Popcorn and drinks on both the upper and lower level. Large rest rooms, and very clean. I tend to visit for the matinee, since reopening it hasnt been too crowded. I cant speak for evening or weekends, I tend to avoid movies during those times.
Big thank you for handling the unpleasant situation and turning it around. Some people showed up to the late night movie with few toddlers and a baby (I mean under 2 years old), who was crying half of the movie. And then a mother thought it would be a good idea to turn on a tablet on “full bright mode” to show the cartoons. After asking her to please turn it off, she refused. However, a management made sure that people around them actually enjoyed the movie they paid forThanks again
This theater is pretty good, not overly crowded and easy to get to via the M15-SbsM15 bus. I havent had any problems, the theater is clean. The only problem that Ive had was they were a little heavy handed with the salt on the popcorn, on 2 separate occasions I had to go back to the counter and wait for a new batch so I could get some before they salt it. Overall this is a good location, not far from where I live. Ill be back!
Do not go to this theater if you care about the simple accommodation of reasonable sound levels.Measured 100 dB on my phone using an app in the IMAX theater at this AMC. I gave feedback that they should turn it down. First staff member said that they cant turn it down. 2nd staff member said that they can control the sound level, but turned it up because people previously complained they couldnt hear. The staff didnt get the point that 100 dB is not safe for guests. Obviously 100 dB is bad for your hearing. If you care about having movies presented properly go to a different theater.
I love this movie theater because…it’s a good basic movie theater. They show fun stuff sometimes. The prices are…ok. It’s usually pretty empty when I go midday but not in a creepy way, which is just how I prefer it. Just fine, which means A+ considering how obnoxious other theaters can be.
So glad the theaters are back open! I was happy to find the AMC clean and with adequate COVID precautions in place. I had the fortune of going to a movie at an earlier time of day so I think it just wasnt all that busy to notice if there wasnt enough space between seating parties. When purchasing tickets though it is clear that seats are being blocked off around parties which made us all feel a little better. My only qualm is that food/snack pickup is a little organized but I think thats more secondary to COVID restrictions than a commentary on the AMC itself.
Update as of September 13, 2021:Im about to purchase food online but I had a second thought about it and decided to purchase by cash and theres a gentleman who works here and told me that there are items that arent available. He then asked me what I would like to have, then I replied that I would like a pizza 🍕 of any flavor. He then checked the stock and served me a pepperoni and walked up to me. Hes to be emulated. Thank you Josh.I love red!
Even though its a bit of a walk from the nearest train, its still a great theater. I love coming here because of the recliner seats. Because it is a pretty big theater, they show a lot more movies than the one around St. Marks. There are 3 floors, the ground floor being the entrance and where you buy the tickets. I rarely get to go downstairs to watch a movie so I can really only talk about the upstairs floor. You can purchase snacks upstairs and as a premiere member, you can wait on the shorter premiere line. The soda machines are to the side and the bathrooms are on the other side of the main part. There are theaters on either side of the main part. The hallway on the right has an extra set of bathrooms all the way at the end. This is convenient for people who are watching a movie down there and dont want to waste time walking down the hallway to the bathroom. Each theater has the red reclining seats which are super comfy. The front row is still not the best place to sit but its a bit more bearable in those seats since they recline.Overall, I would suggest coming to this theater for a great movie experience.
Im an AMC A-List and this is definitely one of my go to movie places. The seats are those amazing red recliner chairs and its clean! The staff is always nice and friendly. I do sometimes feel as if theyre understaffed especially during $6 Tuesday so youll just have to be a little bit patient. I am unsure if they offer ordering ahead at this location as Ive never done it. But over all I recommend this place.
Great entrance for those coming in a taxi or who need wheel chair accessibility! Clean great sized theatre with the most wonderful reclining red seats. Each seat is spacious and comfortable with cup holders. Awesome speedy customer service. Will definitely return to see more movies at this location.
Nice and intimate theater; very much so on the small side so dont expect every movie to be showing at this location. the seats are the signature red recliners that lay all the way back. the concessions area is small and a bit sticky by the drinks. the auditoriums are well kept and clean. Had a great experience here definitely will be back.
The movie did not start 30min later which was aggravating 3:30pm show imax July 1/21.When I informed them of this fact a man which looked Like the manager sounded rude “ we know about it “ Also if you want to drink water , they don’t have any water bottle for sale. Worst AMC I HAVE BEEN TOO IN 20 years.
A lovely movie theater. Very clean with wonderful people. I love going online and reserving my seat beforehand. It removes the stress of getting there early to make sure you get a good seat. Stadium seating so youre not looking around someones big head!I love the AMC Stubs program too! $5 tickets all day Tuesday for just signing up for the free program! Cant beat that! Its become my go-to thing to do on Tuesday nights, and I prefer going to the Kips Bay location.
I love this theater. The reclining seats are extremely comfortable and its very clean here. I also enjoy the popcorn, especially if it has just been finished getting popped. I was upset at my last visit because the lowest level had the smell of vomit. All in all I feel its a good place to be.
Today I went to see Suicidal squad mind you but in reality my show was 11:30am but I got there so late mind you but in reality I don’t like getting to a movie late I go there at 11:55am it wasAlready late so in order for me toWatch the movie I would have to buy ticket again so I spoke to the manager and he gave meThe exchange for 12:30pm I’m so grateful I go to this movie theater the staff are very friendly no attitude thanks God and I love the recliner seat
Two of the most glaring issues so far are that reserving seats beforehand has no effect on where one will find seating, as reservations arent enforced, and the ticket stubs are unintuitive; I had to ask an employee to figure out which part of the ticket was my theater number in the sea of text.Otherwise, the theater has one major plus: reclined leather seats. They are very easy to use (one button on the inner right side to control the incline) and are very comfortable. The theater itself had a nice climate and the audio-visual experience of the movies are satisfying.Besides conveniently located AMC theaters, this is a prime pick for a great theater experience. I highly recommend it for those who rarely visit theaters to catch some of the latest flicks, because it leaves a satisfactory impression.
This place is clean and not as crowded as their other theaters in Manhattan. The reclining chairs are really comfy. Why the 2 stars? Because their ticketing system is really messed up. When we arrived, we were told at the box office that there were only two, separate seats left. We had no choice but to take them. We went inside the theater 10 minutes before the previews and it was half-empty! I scanned the theater as the movie progressed and saw many unoccupied seats. At another AMC location, we were assigned the same seats as another couple! We gave way because they got there first.
I LOVE this theatre. The prices are competitive with other theaters in the neighborhood and the seats are very comfortable. It is a reserved seating theater, which I like, because you don’t have to stress over showing up early to snag a decent seat. The popcorn is always fresh and their drink stations are always operational and clean. They have various sized screens appropriate for both blockbuster hits and some good underdog films. It’s always a treat when we go to AMC Kips Bay 15!
I just love going to the theatre. It is one of the few theatres that still have that old school charm coupled with a modern design. The screening rooms are generally super spacious and offer a lot of seating for those big releases. They also have a pretty good concession stand, helpful associates, and various ways to purchase your tickets. I would recommend this theatre to any and everyone.
Great movie going experience, whether youre in the 500 seat IMAX Theater or theater 11 (only 45 seats).Well staffed concession stand and 4 Coke Freestyle machines.Plus a second concession stand and more Freestyle machines on the lower level . Theater is dated but comfortable.Screens are bright and sound system is incredible.A TRUE IMAX screen (the one @the Empire 25 is visibly smaller).Always a pleasurable experience. January 16,2020, IMAX theater is newly remodeled. All leather seats and a revamped sound system. If youre still going to AMC Empire 25 or AMC 34th Street........STOP.This is the premier IMAX screen in New York City.Staff is great.
When you walk in, very clean looking, very shiny and glitzy and the theaters are generally very clean. I like the large open lobby and huge windows and how glam everything looks. Only 3 stars though because my coworkers mentioned mice there and I didn’t believe them. I mean, they’ll sometimes flip seats over to clean beneath them...how could they possibly have mice when they’re so thorough? But then I went to see Happy Death Day 2 and I spent the ENTIRE movie watching with Mickey Mouse. Very polite for a rodent....literally sat there in the aisle watching with me. He disappeared for the scary scenes but came back and watched the ending with me. I’ve heard people mention RATS but believe me...if you’re a real New Yorker, you’ll know the difference between a mouse and a rat. I was able to shrug off the experience because it was a mouse and mice are small, fluffy with cute little tails and are generally skittish so if you really don’t want it near you, just make a movement and they’re gone. If it was a RAT...I probably would’ve had to square up over my nachos and slushee. They’re HUGE, dirty, mean and when you make a movement, you can see them consider whether or not to fight you. Definitely would’ve been NO stars if it was a rat. Also this was a one time instance out of like ten. Haven’t seem them on any other occasion and I frequent that theater a lot. Also, three stars cause it’s a flip of the coin if the staff you interact with will be friendly. Most of the time they are and that’s why I keep coming back. Friendly staff who actually care about and do their job...but there have been one or two times when I accidentally get in the way of a disgruntled cleaning staff. Like walking into a theater too early...they are snappish about that and it takes the air out of an otherwise pleasant evening. Oh and not a fan of the IMAX theater here. No reclining seats and it’s very old and outdated, I think. I still go to this theater because 90% of the time, it’s a nice experience and because I’ve been to plenty of other movie theaters. This place is one of the better ones.Update: No longer feel safe going to the theaters. People are smoking weed, there’s no temp checks, someone had their mask off and were coughing up a storm so it was hard to even focus on the movie and not the coughing going on through most of it (I gave up and left half way through….ITS A PANDEMIC…seriously? If you have a cough, stay home 🤨). I love the theater and their staff are still super helpful and quick to respond but it’s a losing battle to the inconsiderate. I can just as easily watch things at home; no coughing, no smoking, no talking, etc. Yeah, nah…sorry AMC, I really hope y’all are able to turn things around. Keep the stars from my original rating cause like I said your staff is amaze balls….but I won’t be returning for a while.
My go to theatre for all my movie needs. Its smaller than most theatres I know which makes for better experiences as there are less people in each theatre room which equates to less noise. Never had any issues here with staff. Reserve your seats online early for best seats. The option is there so why not use it?
Id say this is a solid four star theater. Overall a pleasant experience but with few issues. Its a relatively small theater. Not something I mind because it meant it wasnt crazy busy.In the lobby when you walk in, theres a VR setup where you can pay too much money for the technology. But to each their own. Buying tickets was easy and the girl working the counter was super nice.I didnt like that the bathrooms were outside of the theater area but the concession clerk still asked to see my ticket. I get that its NYC, but seemed weird and she was kinda rude about it. In any case the bathroom was clean so thats all I ask.The theater had reclining seats, which seemed to be on the newer side. Theater was clean from what I saw. Sound quality was amazing compared to some theaters Ive been to lately. Video quality was on par with what I expected. Id definitely come back and see another flick here!
This is my favorite movie theater. I was overjoyed when they got all-recliner seating that can be reserved in advance. Its very clean and usually (not always) has very dark showing rooms without a lot of distracting ambient lights. That said, avoid being on the aisles unless you want to have the penetrating glare of LED floor lights negatively impact your viewing experience.I almost never eat here so cant offer advice on that.BTW, they have pre-movie commercials that go on for at least twenty minutes, as of Dec 22, 2017. What with reserved seating and all, I definitely avoid most of the ads and stroll in such that I only have to see a few, if any.
This is our favorite movie theatre. Always clean. The seats are spacious and for the most part the recliners work. Ive only see a handful of times where certain seats didnt work. What I love about this theater is that there are assigned seats, as it is with most AMC theaters now. Great location. Lots of pubs and restaurants nearby to grab a bite to eat before or after.
Ive come here practically all my life & it still remains one of the best theaters Ive been to. Its always kept clean & the theaters are always equipped with the best features. However one sad thing is that less of the theaters are IMAX 3D equipped as they used to be. Early & late night showings & sometimes premieres are available here. Family friendly. Wheelchair friendly with big entrance & an elevator; & polite staff. Often has showings of films from Fathom Events & similar companies!!
Great theater, especially if you ensure you are watching a movie at one of the theatres with reclining chairs. Food is expensive as expected, however they dont seem to check your bag when going in so have brought in food and water numerous times with no issues. Will definitely be going back.
Ive only gone to the matinee shows but at $8.49 its a steal (more for 3D or IMAX). Now renovated with reclining seats in each theatre. You pick and reserve your seat so no disputes. Digital still needs to be brighter but thats on the projectors. Very comfortable and bathrooms clean.
One of the smaller AMC theaters. Although the recliner seats are pretty much the greatest Ive experienced (so far) I did love the huge space entering the building! I did also love the cute theater layout it was small, three rows, decent size screen and the best part was watching the movie It Chapter 2 but watching the film in a smaller theater with a decent sized screen made the experience a lot better especially a horror film. I see myself going back but, my downside is a personal matter since one of my exs lives in the area. If it werent for that Id definitely see myself going back here more often!
My experience is based on watching a movie in theater 15. Everything about this theater complex is good except for the screen quality. I saw Sicario 2 and the screen seemed dull. It wasnt bad and maybe thats how most screens are but it certainly affects your experience.Other than that, this is a great place. Clean, less crowded by NY standards and reasonably friendly service. Plus, the recliner chair is very comfortable.
Kips Bay is one of my favorite theaters. The place is clean. The popcorn is good. The seats recline. The price is cool. The theaters in Manhattan that Ive been to range in price from $15.99 to about $17.15. It all depends on whats important to you. Cleanliness and comfort is whats important to me so paying an extra $1.00 or 2 doesnt bother me if its a nice theater. Also, I always check reviews before going to any theater and Kips Bay had good reviews.
The theater itself is very nice. Most of their theaters have comfy seating and there has never been issues with sound or picture quality. The only issue we have and the only reason we took a star off with this location is the food. The hot dog buns are so hard, they can hurt someone, the pretzels taste like cardboard, and I have yet to see them make new popcorn. They seem to make a lot and just let it sit there...for hours. If you arent hungry or dont care about eating, then I would say come here bc its the best AMC theater seating..
Pretty good theater. Went to a late show, so it wasnt that busy. Recliners were a little small, but not too bad. My theater was small and Im guessing the bigger theaters with more room were on the bottom level. Ill be returning for a few more movies since its a little cheaper than Empire 25.
A clean, tri-level, renovated AMC theatre. By renovated I mean it has the red leather reclining seats. Each individual theatre is not very large but the seat layout and viewing angles are pretty good from rows C and up. One of the most immaculately clean bathrooms Ive ever seen for an AMC. Standard AMC concession price guaging ($9+ for a regular popcorn that can feed 5 people). Definitely bring your own snacks!
What an amazing theatre, I had an amazing time. My girls, husband and I found this place to be such a comfort for the viewing of black panther. Unlike everyone else my family and I tend to wait out the hype of a film and choose to actually enjoy it. And this is by far the theater to do so. The reclining seats are an added bonus to the comfortable ambience that is set by the staff. The young lady at the refreshments counter was so amazing. She was very nice and held a sweet conversation with my five year old that was just adorable. I will certainly be back and I absolutely look forward to another movie night here.
Great seating (lean back chairs). Relatively clean place. One of my preferred theaters in NYC. Favorite is 84th street on broadway; as its close. This one is my next favorite since they all have recliners. However, something feels a little off here still. Maybe needs a renovation.
This AMC is a bit out of the way for some people but it’s a great place to see movies. Seats are comfortable and movie quality has been great. I have seen the inside of all the theater rooms here but all the ones I’ve been in so far have reclined. If you are looking for a new AMC to watch movies at, kips bay 15 is worth consideration.
Love this theater, clean and roomy. Seats inside each showing are recliners. Book your seats in advance on fandango, and choose the flick and your seats. Snack bars on each floor . Great staff, plenty of discounts including children and seniors. Love the location, kips bay . Leave the theater and you have transportation and eateries.
Rather small theater compared to AMC Lincoln Square location. But the seats in this theater are the most comfortable Ive sat on. Lots of leg room and comfy arm rests. Im a big guy so this theater is by far my favorite one. Also the added bonus that not alot seats per shows. I dont like to be overcrowded. Again this theater is a very good spot to come in if you dont like crowded movie theaters.
Despite, modern fully adjustable large reclining seats, they really need to get their act together. When,I noticed that the Auditorium was rather small, and there were few seats;still available-the ticket clerk, did everything, to discourage me;from buying the ticket. How about, just explaining, that the seats;are rather spacious? And,it was very dirty, and sticky;around all their beverages-machines. They appear to just NOT care.
I watched Avengers in IMAX 2d and it was... expensive ($22 each) but underwhelming. We were in theater 10, and theres no denying that the imax screen is huge but the theater is pretty tightly packed... I would guess it was something like 250 seats. The screen is big and the audio is also good, but I dont think it was significantly better than when I saw a regular showing at the times square Regal. Seats were significantly worse though - old cloth seats lacking padding, pieces of floor tile missing, dirty napkins in the cup holders... It just looked generally worn down. This is in stark contrast to the lobby areas though which look pretty nice.I gave it two stars because it does have a good selection of movies, and the staff is generally nice, but Id rather go to a Regal, or if I had to pick an AMC, the one by Lincoln square.
This is the best movie theater in the city. They give you the ultimate viewing experience. With the comfy reclining chairs youll forget youre in a movie theater and feel more like you were in your own living room. All the salons are equipped with the reclining chairs. Well worth the hike downtown.
This has become my go-to theatre now that I have AMC A-List. Even though it’s a little out of the way, it is clean, comfortable, and spacious. I went to the AMC in Times Square recently and the theatre (for a small movie) was sticky, with dirty fabric seats and literally every other arm rest collapsed onto the seat and missing the bottom of the cup holder. Back to Kips Bay for a great AMC experience!
One of the best AMC theaters!Clean, spacious, with the newest recliners, not just the old reserved seats that AMC tries to get trick you with in the other locations.Usually the former Loews theaters are the best. This one is so clean and roomy its almost like a normal suburban cinema, and not a cramped, dirty, small NYC theater.
It was great even though the chairs didnt recline. Free drink refills (slurpees), awesome selection of snacks. Even if your an adult get the kids box its enough! You will be full and dont know why and its inexpensive. Its best to get there on time. Its special seating so when the lights go off you cannot see your seat #. Bathrooms were clean which is a plus for me. Sorry no pic, maybe next time...
One of my favorite theaters in the city. Many theaters and show times, reserved large leather recliners and fast moving lines for snacks. And I can get my tickets ahead on my phone so theres no line - just walk right to the ticket taker. Make sure to look ahead at availabilities though - theres limited seats (theyre all large and plush leather recliners)
Good theater, but Im surprised AMC hasnt upgraded the seating at this location. The theater itself is clean and organized. The place was pretty empty then again it was a Tuesday evening. While I definitely recommend coming to this location, I do hope AMC upgrades their seating to match those at most other locations.
One of the better AMCs I go to in the city. Two seperate floors each containing their own concessions areas. Very clean and large enough to accommodate a crowd. All the seats in this theater are recliners and use a stadium seating layout, which allows better view of the screen without being bothered. My only issue is of one particular worker in the mornings, a woman who scans the tickets for the downstairs level. Very bad attitude, always gives wrong information, and seems to purposely play games with you.
Great theater if you can get tickets further back than front row. Big stadium seats and lots of smallish theaters mean they sell out quick. Other than that, its pretty standard AMC fare, but slightly better kept up and more friendly staff than I might expect so it always feels like a cut above.Convenience helps too: if you are on the M15 bus like me, its a less than ten minute walk from 29th Street, and they have a drug store, Fairway supermarket and even a small Target nearby, so its a great cinema to treat yourself and run some quick errands before going home after work. Very convenient and one of the nicer cinemas in NYC.
Great seats are the one pro for this theater. They are the first class, electric reclining seats that are generally sold in expensive home theater stores. The cons for this movie theater are the service, popcorn quality and sound from other movies. The service is poor at the concession stands. Its usually staffed with slow-working people and the concession stands are often under-staffed. They also have an AMC Rewards line that is supposed to allow AMC rewards members a shorter wait but their is no direction at the line so it usually doesnt make any difference in terms of the wait so whether or not your are an AMC Rewards member plan on getting to the theater 30 minutes prior to your showtime if you want to get any candy, popcorn. Also, they use one of the cheapest popcorns on the market so its not even that good to begin with. The other con is sound from other movies. Its great in your movie because they upgraded all the sound systems and have them set at a very loud setting which sounds great in your theater but the one con is the soundproofing in the walls is not great (like the popcorn) so you will easily hear all the loud sounds in the theater next to you. If you can somehow plan your movie next to a quiet movie you are in luck but if you are next to an action movie with explosions and other loud sounds plan on hearing those sounds throughout your movie.
This has been one of my go-to local theaters! Am especially loving how the auditoriums have been updated with wide reclining seats for a truly comfortable watching experience! With that said, seating can be limited depending on the showtime. I would have liked it if there were more self-serving kiosks at the lobby entrance; the ticket line can sometimes move slow...
Was nice. Definitely clean, friendly staff unless in a huge group and its late. Security definitely didnt hide their commentary about my church group coming out as 70 deep to see the Black Panther. We waited till the movie was over to take a picture. Staff was eager to see us leave. For the most part, they were accommodating
My favorite theater. The seats are SO good. The sounds good (Ive heard some say its too loud) but thats fine. I got one of those A list passes, so Im here a lot more than I used to be. A list is a great idea. Give that a shot. Its totally worth it if you love going to the theater.
I am a senior citizen on a fixed income. Am so pleased with $5 Tuesdays. I can now go to a movie theater more often than I used to because of the low price. I am fortunate to have the Kips Bay Theater near my apartment so dont have to spend travel money. The seats are so comfortable and the staff is pleasant and helpful. Thank you AMC. YEAH!!
One of the best experiences Ive had in a theater in NYC. I bought my seats ahead of time and walked in day of without any major lines. Since this was during the Avengers 3 opening weekend I was very surprised. I encountered no lines to get in to our theater room or to get food. The service was friendly and the bathrooms were clean. I will be coming back for sure.
Most, if not all, of the screens have stadium recliner seats. This is so much better than the cramped seats on offer at pretty much every other Manhattan cinema. Prices seem exactly the same as at other AMC cinemas in the city. $5 Tuesdays for AMC members is always a good deal. They wont allow you to combine an AMC membership card and Movie Pass at the front desk but it still works fine at the ticket machines. I also give them a positive for allowing you to bring in outside coffee - I no longer go to Regal cinemas after they told me to get rid of a fresh coffee before being allowed in.
The staffs here are very friendly and helpful. I went with a large group, and they were accommodating enough to let us wait inside the lobby instead of the long line forming outside the theater. Seats here are also spacious and reclines comfortably. My one gripe is the bass from adjacent theaters sometimes can be heard/felt in my theater. It wasnt very noticeable, but once you do, it became rather distracting.
The theater itself is amazing. Large *reclining* seats, great service, and a great rewards program. The only reason its not 5 stars is because they have some energy company in the lobby that harass you every time you enter. Really ruins the entry way. If they get rid if them it would be perfect!

2021-12-31Overall a great theater! The reclining seats are probably the best I’ve come across so far in any auditorium! The bathrooms are super clean the staff is friendly and it seems like a very quiet place when you can really get into the movies. The location helps too , it’s not as crowded as other theaters around the city! They will be renovating IMAX theater soon so that is a huge bonus !

2022-03-09Large theatre (15 screens, including IMAX laser), with clean toilets, a good number of restaurants/eateries close by that are open after 10 pm, helpful and courteous staff, 6+ movies being played everyday. Popcorn, pizza and other snack/dinner options and drinks at acceptable prices. Getting stubs A-list is a good way to save money here for tickets and food. There is also public transport close by (multiple bus stops under 3 minutes and subway 10 minutes away). They also have multiple kiosks and a few staff at the counter.

2022-04-12Very clean and beautiful cinema with a great selection of options for drinks and hot and cold food at reasonable prices. Lovely staff who were very helpful. Incredibly comfortable luxurious seating in a theatre with excellent sound and amazing picture quality. My only note would be to perhaps add a sign inside the elevator to indicate which screens are on which floor.

2022-02-12We had the run of the place. It was 3:00 PM on a Tuesday. Tickets were on sale and the theater was empty.I cant give the venue a bad review because we chose the wrong movie. Hah!Aisles and seats were clean. Drinks and popcorn remain outside even the most affluent patrons budgets. (Girls: stuff those purses!) The seating was comfortable, but a few of them had broken electronics for the recliner. This wasnt a problem as so many adjoining seats were unoccupied. It was a good time.

2022-04-09I brought my great nieces to see Spiderman No Way Home on Friday, April 8th and we were just enjoying our snacks in the recliner seats when fifteen minutes into the movie the alarm started to go off. The lights came on and the movie was paused...a staff member came and told us that the movie will resume in a few minutes but the movie never started again. We were then told by a staff member that we will get movie passes for future use and we can use them at any AMC theater. It was a disappointment but here is why I gave them four stars;1. The staff at AMC are exceptional!!! They are helpful when it comes to getting your snacks that you have ordered online and directing you to where you need to go to see your movie. EVERYONE is helpful with a pleasant attitude. I needed to say this because now that the protocols are easing up, it helps to feel comfortable when are are gathering to enjoy events together.😊2. The theater is exceptionally CLEAN!The BATHROOMS are very CLEAN!3. The theater was empty on a Friday afternoon at 3pm!4. The seats are the most comfortable recliner seats where you can relax and watch the movie while enjoying your snacks and drinks.5. Because of the mishap with the alarm system, we were given movie passes and refunded the monies we spent on our snacks!!!6. If you want to go see a movie, definitely come to this theater...I recommend it! 😊I didnt snap any pictures but when I return next time I will...Hey, if you like this review...press the thumbs up button 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

2022-04-01Bought 6 tickets to a 10 pm screening , drove 40 to be surprised by a theatre closed sign. No refund issued yet , no email to contact. An email or a warning of a theatre closed on the app would’ve been appreciated

2022-03-07Can’t say enough good things about the staff here. I lost my wallet in the theater tonight and the entire staff was so helpful and nice about helping me find it. They immediately dropped what they were doing to help. Thanks to this lovely man who was greeting people at the door he stopped his job to come upstairs and search the seats and we found it. Thank you to everyone-the staff should be recognized for their kindness!

2022-01-20I went during the day on a weekday. It was empty. Enough space between to continue to social distance. It was clean. The theater had the recliner seats. I would recommend to go during the day and on weekdays if you want it to be empty. Felt like I had the theater to myself.

2022-05-22Semi-comfortable recliners, I saw no staff but it was very early in the morning. Everything was good, staff was friendly. Regal seems better in terms of atmosphere, but nothing beats free movies every 3 weeks with AMC A-list

2022-02-13Went to an IMAX pre-showing. The tickets were expensive and while the seats were leather, they didnt recline and they werent incredibly comfortable. Bathroom was okay. The snack area looked small, but the line was too long so we didnt stop for snacks.Sound was good and the screen was crisp.
