At some point you reach the point where its no longer a good idea to try and bribe your friends to help you move with pizza. I considered this when my friend with recent back surgery offered to help me move. The scenario of me bringing him the pizza in the emergency room flashed through my mind. So instead I declined the help and called AMC Movers. This is actually the second time Ive used AMC. They had moved me from my apartment to a brownstone several years ago and I was pleased with the experience. In retaining the services of AMC Movers, first I requested an online quote. They called back promptly (same day, within a few hours) and explained that it was hourly billing and they would have a two person crew doing the move and required a $50 deposit. We were able to arrange a mutually acceptable time and they even called to confirm the day before. The moving crew actually showed up 10 minutes early and did a quick run-through of the house to see what I was moving. They were quick and efficient; my apartment was packed up in less than 2 hours. Unloading was also lightning fast; my items were redistributed in a three story house in around an hour. Plus I should add that no walls were damaged and all of my items were intact and scuff-free. So the final tally is: two moves, no broken items, quick service. And the whole thing cost $350.

Scam! Hired them to move a bedroom set for my mother and they quoted me one price but ended up charging double. In addition the movers and the manager threatened my mother saying that they will throw everything out if she didnt pay. I wish I was there because I would have called the cops! $600 to move one bedroom set is not ok, and scheming and threatening people is not OK either! Oh and they took the screws for the bed so now the headboard doesnt stay. Dont use them!
