I stop coming to AMC for about Ten years. Since then, they have not upgraded their seating. No recliners. Movies tickets price shot up, including food and drinks. A fee of two people equals close to $50.00. They dont have 4DX or RPX. Still, nothing changed. Best go to Regal.
This is not a great theater. Its outdated and small. The lower level is under lit. Finishes and lighting have not been updated in a long time. Seating was a little tight for a modern theater. Would not recommend for extra tall or heavy people. They do allow you you to pick youre seat, but at the price they charge, you might as well go to a nicer theater. The particular theater we were in was a little hot, which Ive never had at a movie before. The popcorn was also stale and they only had 1 person working concessions on a Saturday.
It was my first time at this Movie Theater. You can tell right off the bat its one of them theaters thats sort of neglected or not well kept, compared to other AMC theaters that are more upscale and modern in the city. Overall its small, even the actual theaters are small, has one consession stand, a pair of restrooms, and thats pretty much it. The theaters inside where clean, but dont expect leather seating or reclining chairs.... the chair just look old. The staff was straight forward with their attitude and information, some where just walking around looking bored. My experience was ok.... the place overall is ok.
Movie previews started at 7:40pm and the movie officially started at 8:05pm. We showed up at 7:50pm to skip the previews and the amc was locked and closed. After waiting for almost 15 minutes in the cold waiving our hands to see if someone will open. A lady unlocks the door and says your late and you didnt wait 15 min. She declared she was the manager. We entered the movie at 8pm and waited 5 min. for the movie to start. Worst experience Ive ever had in a theater Im taking all my stocks out of this company it is the fast food of theaters.
Do NOT go to this theater. It has all but been abandoned by AMC. As you descend into the bowels of this relic of a theater, youre greeted with the loud whirring of industrial fans as they attempt to stave off the impending mold from latent moisture. The bottom floor is straight out of a horror movie. Its secluded. Theres no reception. And youre two floors underground. If you come alone, you should be cautious. I ended up leaving after I couldnt find a single clean seat that didnt have a broken cushion or reclining mechanism. This theater has not been updated in ten years and its on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Unacceptable.
The lady who worked at 12:45 pm today 1/15/2022 is such a sweet heart she is such a nice hard working lady! She definitely needs a raise ! This is the type of people you need. I wish I saw her name tag didn’t get to see but she was working in the concession today. Love you!
Smaller and older theater. I dont believe they have recliner seats. Reminds me a bit of the AMC on 14. Standard snacks and concessions. Popcorn was a bit stale but thats par for the course. Younger crowd. On this occasion I saw a marvel movie - black widow, and there was plenty of crowd response to the movie. Which i enjoy. There wasnt really a line getting in or out of the theater. Overall solid experience, and i would recommend this location to other locals in the area
THE WORST! We were supposed to watch Sonic 2 and they let all the people enter without checking if everything is working! Projector was not working! Theater was DIRTY! We asked for a refund as well for the food but they just LAUGHED. WORST EMPLOYEES! No SORRY at all! NEVER AGAIN
Disappointed. I was looking forward to my first movie post-covid and was excited to see No time to die. The movie was great, but the theater destroyed the experience. First of all, the staff gave me a ticket to another movie, but were good enough to let me go an watch the bond film. The theaters here are on the smaller side, so keep your expectations low. My worst gripe was about the seats. They are small, made of cloth and not at all comfortable because of the saggy cushions. Not sure how they were cleaned, but they felt a little itchy too. Another issue is the design of the doors. Unlike other theaters, they open directly into the hall, so whenever someone left the hall, it would fill the whole room with light. Go to another theater if you want to enjoy your movie.
This AMC theater is good. They are clean and professional. Ive been to this theater many times and it has always been a pleasant experience. I would not recommend going as of right now. I went to watch the new Spider man movie and the movie theater was packed. There wasnt any spacing in between people. So I would be cautious and probably restrain from going as of right now. Covid obviously has nothing to do with the AMC itself (thats why i rated the experience 4 stars), but i wished that they couldve separated the seating arrangement to allow some social distancing in between people. Everyone was packed in the theater and it was worrying me. But overall, the amc at east 86 street is good.
First appearances youre expecting a 5$ movie in a rundown theater instead of a 17$ film. Maybe appearances are deceiving and it just looks unloved. Unlike other AMC theatres this one is a fixer upper. Needs new seats, also could be spaced more apart like other AMC theatres, the marquee could be fixed. Look for movie showtimes online or on the tiniest monitor Bathrooms are kind of clean? The concession counter could be cleaner. Might be a middle of shift thing? I still come here because it shows almost everything the bigger ones do and also the Fathom events showing from time to time. Also its convenient for me on the bus or train, from work or home
The only good thing about this theatre is the location. But as an upper east side local, it’s not that hard to impress since it’s the ONLY theatre around.Today was my first time back to the theatres since the pandemic, and I’m incredibly disappointed with the zero changes made to improve cleanliness and comfort. As the only theatre in the area, I don’t understand why AMC doesn’t invest in this location. It’s not drawing any crowds or money cause it’s truly gross and unpleasant (i.e. sticky floors and seats). They clearly don’t care about this location, so why should the locals? I’d rather take the bus down to the Kips Bay theatre. Step it up AMC!
Idk how the department of health hasnt shut this place down. One would assume that during the covid shutdown, @amc wouldve renovated/ update the place. Just was there for the first time in a while. I literally had to walk the manager around and point out everything wrong. From lazy staff to nothing wiped down. Whatever repairs made simply look like patch work, never finished. AMC is taking advantage of the situation that it is the only theater in the UES of NYC.Baffled as I watch the AMC ad before the movie with Nicole Kidman showing off newer stadium seating theaters. Im sitting in a old auditorium style with seats, so old and uncomfortable. When you go to the snack bar, the glass encasement is dingy, like someone wiped down with dirt water. The staff bickering amongst each other at the register. The soda machines caked old stains. As if itd never been wiped down.No security means when you go to find your seat, movie hoppers are occupying your seat. People speaking through the entire movie. It wasnt until I pointed out the light coming from the projector booth, that they turned them off. No one to close the door when the movie started, I got up and closed it, myself. The view from my seat, horrible as I had to see around the head of the person in front of me.My entire experience at this location was underwhelming compared to any other in the city.
The Movie theater....I just love King Richard was a good movie very well made ...I think we need Movie theaters for entertainment..too much of sitting in Front of the TV is unhealthy...you need to be outside for Fresh Air ...its something to do that keeps me from doing nothing I do something go Enjoy a MOVIE
Fine for a last minute movie when it’s the closest theater to home, but definitely not a top choice. Often when I’ve arrived, there’s no dedicated staff member checking tickets, so I’ve had to awkwardly wait while staff was helping people at the counter in case they’d check my ticket, or else just try walking right in. Aside from the disadvantage of no recliners, the seats are very old and worn to the point where they get uncomfortable through a 2 hour sitting. The lower levels get more messy and eerie as you go down, with trash cans and full as the abandoned concession stands are empty.
Always had a good selection of movies playing but the theaters themselves don’t have the recliner seats yet. The overall cleanliness has been pretty poor the pst few times I’ve visited. The inside of the theaters is decent but the bathrooms have been poor as well as overflowing trash cans
Absolutely disgusting. The theater is filthy and needs to be updated. The restrooms are a nightmare there was no toilet paper or paper towels. The floors are sticky everywhere. The seats must be at least fifteen years old . They say when you sit and you don’t not have enough room to comfortably sit without cramming your knees. Would not recommend.
The theater is relatively nice but the popcorn is popped and shipped to them so it is not warm or fresh. The concession stand is on the ground floor but theater #7 is two floors below it. This is super inconvenient because if you want a refill, you have to go all the way up and back down which means that you miss a larger part of the movie due to the longer trek. Other than that, it was pretty nice.
Was there for the first and only time the other day - place is badly in need of renovation. No signs pointing to the theaters when you enter, no escalators going down, seats are uncomfortable - low to the ground and with really short backs. I was in auditorium 4 which has a really weird seating layout, with a small screen and a long narrow theater. Given the size of the screen you already feel too far from it in the middle, cant imagine what the experience must be like in the back. To top it off there is no perceptible incline between the rows. I am guessing this theater was built a long time ago - the whole thing really needs to be rebuilt. Even the bathroom (ladies) didnt have any functioning air dryers, and three of the five sinks were out of order. AMC Kips Bay is state of the art compared to this, so Ill keep going there instead.
This movie theater used to be my favorite go to movie place . There is not enough staff to keep the place clean. The seats are old and cramped. . The place looks like it needs a serious facelift!. The staff that comes to clean dont have the dedication to keep the place neat and welcoming... It doesnt matter if the movie is great but if the place is clean and looking welcoming youre gonna get more people coming .
Not very nice and the staff are less nice. Nobody wants to be working there and they put up a fight just to let you purchase popcorn. Not what you expect out of AMC. My viewing experience was still good despite this but if its not out of the way, head further downtown.
Okay, this theater is alright based on the ticket prices since it’s the cheapest out of all but the whole movie experience was pretty bothersome. The seats weren’t comfy, there was a ton of people talking and reacting loudly to the movie, and the price for the popcorn and nachos were way overpriced. As well as when I chose my seats I got the worst seat out of the whole theater since it was so far away from my partner and I. They were both next to eachother but both pretty far away too. Overall this experience was alright, i just know now to never go to this theater again.
Enjoyed slightly cheaper ticket prices than competing theaters but found the facility dated and dirty.- The seats were noticeably stained with ketchup- The soda dispenser in the lower level was shooting out warm soda- The other dispenser was not even powered up.- No coffee at concession. Arcade is dated and most machines were off.- Staff was nice but not very inviting. There is definitely room for improvement. I would recommend choose the theaters on the upper west side instead. I would shy away from coming back here in the future.
This theater is horrible i had the worst experience ever. it’s disgusting, smells horrid in the bathroom, staff was awful and all around run down and raggedy. as soon as we walked into the theater we had trouble with purchasing tickets the machines were messed up because they were old when we complained the worker seemed annoyed as if we were disrupting her she rolled her eyes when we were talking to her and got the manager. the manger seemed to be the only who was working that night. after we got our tickets we went inside the theater the chairs were extremely uncomfortable and continuously squeaking. i’m not gonna get into the full story but me and my family was targeted by this man it was extremely heated 3 elder women and 2 young adults and one child vs this intoxicated so called officer who was being racist sexist and extremely disrespectful we manage to get away from the situation because the staff and security were being no help and did not one thing and let this man continuously verbally assault us. when we exited the theater the workers let this man follow us out and assult us more. he put his hands on my aunt and grandma pushing them this could have been prevented if security intervened and kept him inside and called 911. we were trying to leave and go home but this man continued to follow us and get us more riled up. i am disgusted by the movie theater that was no help at all. please do yourself the favor and do not come to this theater it is horrible
I have never left a bad review but as we were on holiday and came here to watch a show we waited with no one in front of us to be served as the supervisor decided to cash up the tills. The cashier who served us was so lovely. Theatre looks pretty run down. What was the real problem was we went to see a PG and I was a bit shocked by the adverts for adult scary films. Made sense when the feature film started and it wasnt what we paid for. Went up two flights to be told they cant stop once started but could give us a refund and tickets for next time if we want to watch anyway. Brilliant. However when we went up later for the refund and the guy said he had no tills but they could do the refund when I came back, okay fair. He went to get free tickets and took so long the people behind me were commenting, I despise being an angry customer but when he came back he tried to give me extra tickets as they probably wont do a refund the next day. So he clearly took ages hoping I would leave. I felt so frustrated I was only in NYC another day or two and had plans for the rest of it. The money was less relevant than the appalling customer service and the principle of continually being lied too. I felt like I was talking to stroppy teenagers as he got his manager. Im just so disappointed we were staying near a cinema we could have walked too we travelled here as we expected it to be nicer. Working in customer service I was just shocked by the level of compassion.Go elsewhere
My 1st time here and it was a real joy. maybe it was the time of day or the films being shown at the time but it wasnt crowded or rowdy like other AMCinemas... but like i said, it must have been the type films & time of day.this AMC locale reminds a lot of AMC on 19th Street; quite, cozy, calm, & that was before they remodeled all their auditoriums.its a bit of subway ride to get there but a very short walk from station to cinema. clean, comfortable (even though they have stadium seats). friendly staff, & just simply a pleasure to visit. will diffidently visit again....it would be nice if there were benches in both lobbies.
This theater needs some serious updates. Its super old. The seating is old AF. However, the staff members are Super friendly tho. I would go back there for sure. Make sure you go on Tuesdays for $5 Tuesday movie night. Its actually one of the Best kept secrets at every AMC across the country. Trust me its worth it!!
I had a negative experience at this theater. First, they cancelled showing the movie in the time I paid in advance to see it. So I was forced in seeing the movie they were playing in that time slot instead. Second, the food order I ordered through the app in advance was wrong. The theater is small & isnt that clean. They have a look that doesnt equate to the nicer looking amc theaters Ive been to before this location.
The people there are nice, but the bathrooms in the basement floor are always half out of service and nowhere near clean. Today it was all out. I think someone was finally fixing it. The chairs are uncomfortable at first, but you get used to it. The deal breaker for me today was the mouse that ran by in theater 5 in the middle of fantastic beasts. (Theres a dad joke here, Im sure of it.) Some guy kicked it and we never found out where it went.
This is an old theater, that hasnt been renovated in years. My biggest issue with the theater is the old style seating where if you have a tall person sitting in front of you, you will get a stiff neck trying to look around them he whole movie. I would suggest watching movies that have been out for a while here. This way you wont have to worry about having a difficult time seeing the screen because the theater will be mostly empty.
This theater needs an upgrade! The seats are old, low, and uncomfortable. The bathrooms dont have hooks to hang handbags or coats. Its a shame that on East 86th Street, a popular location , we should have such a shoddy theater. The staff is friendly and helpful, they get 5 stars!
Two years in a row, I have brought a school group of 100+ students to this theater for the great services and very convenient location. Manager Will is so nice! He brought buster seats for the little ones, and handed trash bags to teachers. We were allowed to bring our own lunch and snacks to eat before the movie starts. I will continue bringing my students to this theater.
The theater is small which I prefer.... the seats are disgusting.. or at least in theater 3. The floor was also gross. There was no usher in the theater, and no one checked in, maybe its a lot to ask but generally someone pops through and asks people to be quiet if they are talking loudly. There was chatter throughout, but that was the small part. There was a man who was drinking out of a bottle, spitting into the seat next to him and making tons of noise. I personally will never go back there as Its obvious that the management is loose and if that guy was spitting into a seat im sure my seat has been spit in as wellBut Id suggest some deep cleaning and set someone up to check in or at the very least watch the cameras
Best theater on the Upper East side. They have substantially improved the food options at the concession stand. And, the food prices (except the pretzal!!!) Seem more reasonable. Assigned seating is a real improvement too. The staff and customer service here are always gracious and accommodating.
The service was great and the staff is friendly. The place definitely needs a renovation. I might sound a little spoiled by said this but, the seat doesnt even recline like the other AMC theaters Ive been to. I think if the overall look could get a little facelift, it could boost the ratings.
Seats and films fine, but many times I have to go down into the bowels of the bottom floor for the film and it feels creepy and old and dark down there! Usually there are not enough any concessions open down there either. Makes you wonder if you might be mugged when coming out of a late feature! Desperately needs complete rennovation and especially LIGHT on that bottom floor basement set of theaters.
Great location being just a block away from the subway. It is not the prettiest theater but it is not run down. There is a full concession stand with some fun hot dishes and a small choice of ice cream that accompanies the typical popcorn, candy, and soda. I have never been to a movie where the lower level concession is open but I very often go to afternoon shows. Seats are generally comfortable and in good condition, theater screens are good, and sound is loud but not too loud.
I’ve been here twice in the last six months and both times the projector broke so the movie didn’t show at all. Never even started. Of course, no one came to tell us this until two people (separately, ten minutes apart) went all the way up to the top floor to find out what was going on. Come on - get your act together. AMC needs to fire the team running this place and do a complete refurbishment.
I used to work in this theatre back 04, before AMC bought the Loews Theatres, and I went to go see a movie 2 days ago and it made me happy to see that almost nothing has changed at all. I love that they have reserved seating now but dislike the fact that they did not upgrade to the reclined seats like the other theatres. I also like that it is super empty during weekdays, it makes for a much more relaxed experience.
Okay first time going I give it to the employers there. theres some rude rich snobs out there and i must say this one situation I witnessed was taken very well. I didnt have a problem at all. wish they had like installed sanitizers on the walls or disinfected wipes. oh yea the snack station takes FOREVER. idk why it took so long to make my order but I eventually made it to my seat on time
The place is a dump. It clearly hasnt been renovated in decades. Old seats, some screens with marks and tears, an elevator that feels like it can break down at any time. Since I live nearby, I come here often, and not once had the popcorn ever been fresh. Its mostly clean, but they never seem to staff enough people.
For a movie theater in NYC, this one takes the cakes. Its multi-floored facility can be traveled with ease. The bathrooms and concessions stands are strategically placed, so never fear the urge for a large coke 2 minutes before the movie starts because you wont have to navigate cramped escalators to the depths of hell to find it.The staff here is friendly and efficient. If you come for a box opener 12 minutes before the movie starts and are about 12 people deep, you will still make the movie with time to spare (hell, you may even get to sit next to your friends, too!). The theaters themselves are huge. I mean, gargantuan. And, in no seat (even the very last row) did I feel that my view was hindered (except for the little boy in front of me who kept standing on his seat. Where was the father??).Love this place. You will too.
This location is very lowkey, if youre looking for a place where you wont run into anyone. There was barely I line to get tickets, and the staff are decent. I wouldve given 4 stars but.... I waited 20mins for pretzels with cheese, I wasnt even given a heads up on how long it would take or wouldve went to my theatre and came back...after all, I did have on 6inch heels.
Not enough help at the concession stand (had a long snaking line), made us late for the movie. Extra time taken when the soda machines needed to be refilled. Areas where you get a lid for your drinks and butter your popcorn were FILTHY. The stairs are extremely narrow and there are too many. Theater 7 had a heating issue, it was a sauna but everyone was given a free pass to return as a result. I would visit this theater again since its in my neighborhood. I just wish it was a little cleaner and made use of the concession stand on the lower level.
I dont know why people complain about this theater? It seems perfectly fine when I went on a Tuesday night because it was not crowded and the seats are very spacious and comfortable. They also give you free refill for popcorn.Great low key theater if you dont like to fight for seats!
The staff has been great, they are organized and gave service with a smile! The food served was delicious, however, one star off, because the restrooms below ground level were running out of paper towels, some urinals wont flush properly and the hand dryer wasnt working.
This place was ghetto! When I arrived to see my afternoon movie the cops were in the lobby with a woman who had apparently hit a couple of employees due to a “misunderstanding”. The complete lack of focus from the staff led to me ordering food that could not be served as it wasn’t ready, and then a refund that wasn’t actually refunded to me. And don’t get me started on the people sitting wherever they saw fit, regardless of the assigned seats. It’s a total skip in my book, don’t waste your time or money.
This movie theater needs work my wife and I are A-list customers for a while had visited a few AMC theaters in the area all are very nice confortable seats from up to down screen that if you seat on the back you can see the whole screen but in the one on 86 and 3rd ave we could not see the whole screen because it was covered by the front people heads not stadium type chairs were also very uncomfortable first and last time going there unless it gets renovated. But will continue being an A-list customers because we love movies
I just saw the Greatest Showman in theater #2 and about 10 minutes before the movie ends a mouse ran past our feet under the chair. We had to finish the movie with our feet up. I did report it and got free tickets but I dont think I will be going there again. The sound quality for that movie was not that great and the seats were very gross.
Went to go see a movie Tuesday night and it was very understaffed. Probably 20 people waiting on line, but only one person was selling tickets while there were 4 other staff members pretending to be busy. The concession stand also had only one person working and only one out of the two were working. The seats were very stiff and not comfortable. Wouldnt go there again.
Tired, old movie theater. No stadium seating. Seats and carpets look worn. Concessions are slow, overpriced (ok, thats normal), and poor-quality. Line for concessions was crazy-long. It was as if they had no interest in selling food or drinks before the movie. Im guessing they know the movie times and could actually get ready for the pre-movie rushes. Employees were pleasant, just inefficient and ineffective setup. For the movie ticket prices in the City I have much higher expectations.
So far worst amc movies I been to. The lines were long and no one helps there fellow co workers. Dont like the seats they are too small and cramped literally touch shoulders. And the the screen is to far and way too small. Surround sound only sounds like it comes from the front. I only have them one star because the movie was really good. The theater experience was horrible. Plus they really need a update
Useful location and the most uncomfortable seats at any AMC theatre Ive ever been to. Punishingly uncomfortable. For what tickets cost, AMC needs to suck it up and replace the chairs with ones that dont automatically barcalounge upon sitting. Seriously. All the escalators in the world dont make up for this.
Dirty constantly, scratched up/dirty movie screens (how does this even happen), employees dont care and most recently, no AC in the theatre, which is half of the point in going to the movies..was 90 degrees in the theatre. No idea how this theatre has stayed at such low quality while other AMCs around the city are fine.
One of my favorite theater but had a bad experience today. One of the workers who brought out my food was not only rude but got my order wrong. For the first time I use the bathroom on the main floor and it was disgusting. One guy did help me with my order and the lady who took my order was apologetic.
This place is getting worst. Today the line was long with one cashier and the employees all act like the last place they want to be is where they work, which by the way you still on the payroll. Chairs were all dirty and the theater was filled with trash and popcorn everywhere on the floor. Bathroom was filthy and had no soap and no toilet paper. If this theater is about to go out of business then please stop wasting our money and close it already.
Needs an upgrade badly. Sound only comes from the front of the screen. Dont get that surround sound thaeatre feeling. Staff is lazy and dont help others out. There could be a line and they keep walking around. The screens are small. This is honestly one of the worst AMC theatres Ive been to. They could really use an upgrade and make it better.
Theater was standard. Not fancy but not the worst Ive been in. Watched Justice League recently and the main complaint I have is that there were 2 girls behind us just talking the whole time and fairly loud. Maybe it wasnt on their radar but I thought the theater would at least try to keep people reasonably quiet.
Watched Frozen. I loved it. I went for an outing with a friends daughter. We got our popcorn and soda. Beautiful kind spirit staff and great attitude as well. I cannot complain about anything because it was just that good. She enjoyed the movie of course there were kids talking because she was one of them and it was a kids film after all. Will come back all summer long. This is my new best movie theater.
I went to see a late showing of A Quiet Place and, first of all, when I arrived there wasnt anyone working as a ticket taker so the same person that sold me the ticket just waved me in. Fine. So Im in the theater and as the movie stared, I realized that the big doors to the theater were still open and the light from outside was filling the theater. I had to go close the doors myself. Then, about half way through the movie, a guy comes into the theater with a big old pitbull. A little strange but whatever. Then I noticed he was adjusting his pants and put the dog up on his lap. Then the dog got off his lap and started humping him. And he just... sat there and let it happen. It was totally disturbing. I went and told management and they gave me a free voucher. Thats fine but Im not impressed with how understaffed they were at this time of night. Not sure Ill go back for a while. A genuinely disturbing experience.
Older theater that has yet to be updated to the level of most other theaters in the city. Seats are still the smaller old fabric ones that have sopped up years of NYC filth. Usually only has one concession stand opened with only one person manning it despite being multi leveled. That said, its a very big theater (goes down several levels into the ground) and always has a good range of movies and showtimes. Much better than the City Cinemas across the street.
The theater was filthy. It was 20 minutes to show time and no one had started cleaning until I asked a staff member if the the theater would be cleaned. They started cleaning but were not done by the time the previews started. For the amount of money spent on the 3D tix, the theater should have been cleaned. Very disappointed. I will go to a non-AMC theater next time.
Absolutely the worst movie theater Ive ever been to. Ive been 3 times and one time the movie couldnt start so everyone had to leave. Most recently the AC didnt work, and couldnt get a refund because the movie already started and there was only ONE person working on a Saturday night. And only one person scanning tickets. The lobby was so packed because the line was so slow. Save yourself and go somewhere else :)
If you have the option to go anywhere else- PLEASE DO. This is extremely poorly run- half the bathrooms don’t work, trash overflowing. For a sold out three-hour movie no one thought to put the AC on so everyone was roasting during the whole movie. Take your money somewhere else if you actually want to have an enjoyable experience.
One of the worst AMCs in the city. Go elsewhere. First of all, they serve drinks that are about a gallon and they think thats ok. They give you full on buckets for popcorn. They give you so much junk that they think its ok to charge 10 bucks or so for each item. No. Dont support this.I also dont like they way they heard you when youre in line to get in. Ive literally had to be outside in the snow. Also not ok.Or the fact that they tried to make it swanky and do reserved seating. Itd be different if the chairs were on a steeper incline, but they arent and I am short, which means that if a tall person gets in front of me I cant see. Again, no. That should not be a reserved seating theater.
Acceptable, convenient movie theater that offers all the required elements but feels tired and worn throughout. Theater seats lean back so far to make you worry your head is in lap of person behind.Volume setting for trailers and even feature movie are set so high to eliminate any nuanced viewing. Decibels approach hearing damage when sustained for more than 5 minutes.
Classic AMC, albeit a bit behind in that while it does have assigned seating, theyre not those fancy recliners weve all been getting spoiled by. There are several schools in the area, so be prepared for larger crowds that include kids. Concessions are only ever available on the 1st floor (most of the theaters are down two levels. Bathrooms on all floors.
I arrived at the theater 30 minutes before show time with my sister and her friend for my sister’s birthday. I purchased my ticket but my sister and her friends both have movie pass. The attendant at the register did not know why their purchase wasn’t going through and we spend 20 min trying to figure it out before the manager said that too much time had lapsed and that’s why the cards were being declined. Now, I understand that the staff don’t know how to troubleshoot with movie pass, but this seemed like a pretty generic answer that should be common knowledge among staff for troubleshooting issues and helping the line move. The manager was helpful in letting us know that my sister and her friend had to call movie pass to tell them to cancel the reserved order and that they had to re-order through the app. If only the first person told us this, we would have saved 20+ minutes. Then I went to the concession line. We still had time to order food and use the rest room before the movie started so my sister and her friend went to the rest room and then in to see the previews while I waited on line.I got to the front and tried to use a gift card to order my food only to be told that it wasn’t registering in the system. I went back to the same first guy and asked him to check the balance on my card. He said the strip was damaged but that he confirmed that there was $36 on the card. I went back to stand on line again for the second time, got up to purchase the items, and was told that there was only $14 on the card so I owed a $3 balance. This made no sense to me. I went back to that ticket guy and asked what happened and he didn’t know. He had zero ways of remedying my issue and didn’t know how the money just disappeared from the card. The manager thankfully gave me two free movie passes to attempt to remedy the issue, but this was already over an hour after I arrived at the theater and had already missed the first 20 minutes of the movie. He politely asked if I wanted popcorn since the line was once again extremely long and I said sure because I promised my sister that I was going to bring her snacks, though popcorn was not what she wanted.Needless to say, I never got my chosen concessions and didn’t have a chance to use the restroom before the movie started so I had to miss more of the movie to go half way through.I was disappointed with the training of the staff at this location. They need better knowledge of how to handle pretty simple situations and how to respond when they mess up.
Terrible experience. Theater oversold the 10pm screening for The Incredibles 2 and refused to help my group claim reserved seats. She used the excuse Im not a bouncer and said she couldnt do anything about it. We got a refund but demanded vouchers for such terrible staff and horrible experience they would not abide.
The seats are terrible and Extremely uncomfortable and very narrow you end up getting back pains by the time you finish watching the movie or end up leaving earlier cous of being so uncomfortable in the seats. good place and nice people but the seats are just atrocious
Im not sure if I like picking seats beforehand because you go in and if you wear glasses like me it doesnt work out for you. In addition, the numbering is not clear to your seat and you are left fumbling in semi-darkness to find your seat. Not fun. Another big problem and turn off is, if someone directly in front of you or two seat in front is taller than you youre not going to see the entire screen. Very bad design. But safe and clean otherwise.
I liked the theatre and services. Bathrooms were clean. I rated it four stars because Ive seen better amc theatres all over nyc. This is far from the worst but its still definetly not the best. At the time I visited, there were some loud and obnoxious customere, but to be fair, that is not the theatres fault and it can happen in any other place.
This is an older theater in need of serious updating, considering it is located in one of the wealthiest zip codes in the country. Filthy bathrooms, dirty chairs, old-school sloped (as opposed to stepped/theater style) seating. Only one concession stand open with 15-20 minutes waits on a busy Sunday.Video and sound quality are good, but the overall experience leaves much to be desired.
Odd selection for a theater. For the Upper East Side, it has a weird selection I guess trying to cater to all audiences. Straddles a mix of limited release, cartoon, and blockbuster movies it either is the perfect place to be or completely misses the mark. Also sometimes grabs movie after they have been in popular release. Not widely attended so easier to grab a seat in the theater.
Emptied of staff at the lower level, this ghostly, antisocial theatre complex had no direction or staff beneath the upper level. The concessions, as at all AMCs of late were questionable. It is far better and cheaper to eat at a restaurant before dining on junk at an AMc to tepid food of questionable duration. The movie was great (Parasite) but they need staff inside the theatre to assist the inevitable entitled couple who insists on arriving late and questioning the senior citizens ensconced in their seats about moving around and utilising their bright smartphones to illuminate the darkened theatre while two stories play out, one on screen and the comedy in the aisles.
The worst theater Ive ever been to. It was dirty, everyone was talking throughout the movie and worst of all, they turned the screen on after movie started and turned the lights off few minutes after they turned the screen on. Definitely was not expecting that from an AMC theaters.
Usually love the theater, its close to home and all that. The people there are nice, but im extremely upset after watching the spiderman homecoming premier. The theater was tiny, and the screen quality was HORRENDOUS. I kid you not, everyone was complaining that they couldnt watch the movie with how dark and bad screen quality it was. Couldnt see! Not good at all :(.
This theater seems to be in decline. The seats are in bad shape and theyve just put plastic bags over the busted ones. They no longer bother to put whats showing on the marquee. The bathrooms arent kept up so well. Generally seems that theres a feeling that no one gives a crap.
Old run down movie theater. It doesnt have stadium seating, so its hard to see the movie if anyone is sitting in front of you. Also, for some odd reason, only one level has concession stands and available bathrooms! For the price they charge for a ticket they should at least have accessible bathrooms on every level!
The night we came here mid June the Air conditioning in the theatre was not working. We still decided to stay then there were people were in our seats that we paid for. The staff was not useful and the security was incompetent. We ended up getting a refund, if I could give zero stars I would!!!!
I came on my birthday and the employer and mnager gave us hard time to see the movie again. We missed parts of the movie because i caught a headache from the 3D screen. We were not creating any disturbance yet they treated us very unfair and we felt very didcriminated. I will never come to this theatre again. As for the short fat stocky woman manager is not good for treating the public with fair choices. I dont think she had management experience. And as for the cleaners they did not clean the theatre good. This is my first complaint. Not a good birthday coming here.
I wouldn’t come here if you’re on the shorter side. The person in front of me was 6’1” (I asked lol), I’m 5’3” and half the screen was blocked. The height difference isn’t even that large. I left after 15 minutes. Also when I came the kiosks weren’t printing anyone’s tickets.
When I first sat in the chair within the theater I thought I was going to fall back as the chair was loosely extending back - could have been more comfortable seating. Besides that all other experiences went well; A/V of the cinema, theater atmosphere, bathroom, ticketing customer service, etc.
The screens look terrible. Its been years since I last saw a theater with such a dark screen and terrible quality. They really need to upgrade the projectors or calibrate them. I dont live far from this theater, but if I want to see a movie that I know has a lot of night scenes, I go to a different one. The image is absurdly dark and not crisp at all!
A decent cinema to watch the latest movie. Havent had any troubles with staff or people that come into this theater. I wouldnt know about concession stands either because theyre too pricey and look stale. Also dont expect comforts like reclining lounge chairs because this AMC doesnt have it.
The seats themselves - not the positioning or where we sat - were uncomfortable and the arm couldnt be lifted. The local rich white old snobby couple in front of us were being rude to everyone but no usher came to escort them out. I dont care if its the UES, get that elitist attitude the hell out of NYC.
Please don’t go here. They put me and my family in a theater without air conditioning with no warning. We told an attendant before the movie started and complained to management again after the movie. Wilson, the manager, dismissed us and other families that joined us without even offering an apology. He acted indignant when I pointed out they should at least move the kids out of that particular theater as a matter of public safety.
Went to watch the new Star Wars movie. I would have had a better experience if I watched it on my phone. The screen appeared tiny from where I sat 3/4 of the way back.Theres wasnt enough of an incline from the front to the back of the theater so I needed to scoot sideways to see the screen because the head of the lady in front of me was blocking it.
I am so disappointed. This used to be my go to Theatre, but I will never go here again. The seats are horrible. They are regular seating, they lean back so far ppl are unable to walk behind you. The floor was dirty after we waited for them to clean it.... very disappointed .
My friend and I wanted to see a movie, and this was one of the only theaters in NYC that was still showing the movie. This movie theater has reasonable prices (the tickets are not too bad) and comfortable seats. The snacks were overpriced, but that is to be expected!
This theater gets more than one just for having the film civil war playing but watching it there was terrible. In viewing room 6 the projector has a problem where the brightness kept changing from dark to bright constantly through the whole film. There was also a constant noise within the room that sounded like construction or something was clogged. The chairs also need to be replaced to something more modern instead of these old computer feeling chairs. I suggest finding a different theater playing the movie you want to watch.
Let Me start off by saying, what a disappointment!!!! Theatre# 7 was negected in the cleaning dept....food everywhere, no ushers anywhere, went to see the movie (Birth of a Nation), the location of theatre#7 was on the lower level in the cut...sorethump area...where we couldnt see it! There was no poster displaying anywhere in the movietheatre for this movie! (On his opening wkend)👎🏾🤔🤔. Just a poor poor experience!!! We ask to speak to management, after the movie they gave us free movie passes for the inconvience. PS. We dnt want any passes, we wanted proper service!
Convenient goto theater with the latest movies. Qualifying this review: I am not a frequent movie goer and dont really like going to movies. I would much rather be at home controlling when I can stop start and lounging in bed watching home movies. I also have only been to a few movie theaters in several years and this being the one most convenient .That said, my son loves movies and this is the most convenient and always has the movies he wants to see playing ...The major pluses: the latest movies, convenience and outstanding service. As a mom, Ive been able to drop off my son and his friends, check them in, walk them to the theatre and they allow me to walk to the theater to pick them up without hassles. The ticket sales, ticket checkers and snack servers are always friendly and accommodating. The most recent couple times there when I went with my son, the only negatives were the people in the theatre: isnt there theatre etiquette ??One woman next to me had a horrible cough. As I was feeling germaphobic w her cough her last one left me feeling a little splatter on my arm. Felt I could throw up and needed to excuse myself to sanitize in the bathroom. Please stay home if youre so sick youre coughing up a lung or anything on your neighbors. The next time the teen in front of me moved his body and head every 5 seconds resulting in me needing to move my body and head as well to see the screen . Really ? I asked my son, dont regular movie goers have some sort of etiquette about constant movement ??Anyway amc cannot control moving and sick movie goers and I did not find the bathroom unclean - cannot speak to the seats as it was dark but the movie experience was just fineI feel very comfortable with this as a goto theatre for my son, and the service is great .
Took half an hour to buy a ticket, customer service sucked, the ticketing girl had an attitude, had to fight to get a snack from the moody snack staff, tiny movie screens Ive seen in any theater, and the moviepass feature didnt work. F-, will not be back. If I could give negative 10 stars, I would
THIS PLACE IS A DUMP!The seats are falling apart. My guess is it has not been renovated since the 1980s. It’s so bad that the group behind me could not get to their seats without bumping into me. AMC should disclose this when selling tickets. They should also discount the tickets.
Its a great theater, it takes MoviePass and the prices arent TOO high compared to other NYC theaters. Usually empty theaters, so if youre looking to see a movie opening day that will likely sell out at your local cinema, go to this one because it is almost NEVER jam-packed and sold out.
This is one of the worst amc theaters in new york. Needs a serious makeover. Seats, screen, concessions, everything. Today we went to see A star is born and they stopped us from entering saying oh my bad we started the other movie late, just hang out. Waited 35 minutes and got home super late.

2022-07-04This is a multilevel cinema. I went at noon, not crowded at all. Bathrooms were clean and the space was clutter fee. Nice view of the streets at each level. We got recliner seats that were great moving both leg side and also neck side.Great audio and video. Overall satisfied with the experience. 👍🏼

2022-02-09This is without a doubt the worst theater I’ve ever been to. $38 for 2 tickets on a Tuesday night, some of the toilets didn’t flush, hand dryers didn’t work in the Men’s or Women’s rooms, chairs are small, old and uncomfortable (and you can’t even move the arm rests). Went here only because it’s the closest theater to my new apartment, but will definitely be traveling the extra distance in the future to avoid this place at all costs.

2021-12-20This place is terrible. Let me start by saying I was expecting such a great evening watching SPIDER-MAN . Do not put the butter on your popcorn it’s bad. They have the audacity to check for vaccination cards but have u sitting cheek to cheek with the person next to you . the seats are ridiculously uncomfortable!!. They are old, very small & DO NOT RECLINE. No nothing . Everyone is squished together , you might as well sit on the persons lap sitting next to you. Especially during COVID this is not what I was expecting. It gets even worse, there was no surround sound. I felt like I was watching a movie in my living room . when the movie came on, the bottom part of the picture was cut off. We left 15 min into the film because we couldn’t even deal with the picture being the way it was. The ONLY good thing I have to say about this theater is that the staff was very nice . Do not go here, you’re better off staying home and watching your fire stick

2022-04-24This is taking a step back in time, reminds me of a theater in the small town of 3500 I visited as a kid to see my Grandma. No stadium seating...nor big Imax screen here folks. Just good old fashioned movie theater. First time having to go to a sub basement level for a movie...and thank goodness I wasnt alone.Simple, basic theater, no frills here folks.

2022-07-06Ill give a 2 only because staff is great. This theater needs a huge upgrade. Been going here for over 20 years and it is now horrible better off going to kips bay amc. SEATS ARE HORRIBLE TIME TO UPGRADE to reclining seats and get rid of the seats with cushioning where you can feel the bottom of the seat. Concession food was horrible. Nachos in a bag and some new cheese that was overly salty and normally I dont mind salty. Pizza was not great. Movie was set to start at 6pm, preview didnt start until 6:20pm.

2022-04-09Barely any incline to the seats - your screen will be partially blocked if anyone sits in front of you. Acoustics are terrible too - the sound of popcorn chewing made it hard to hear some of the dialogue, which Ive never experienced before. Dont recommend this theater, plenty of other great places in NY to choose from!

2022-06-25Worst AMC I’ve been to. Seats are old and uncomfortable, there’s no leg room, and the food was terrible…. Pretzel bites were hard and stale and they barely had other hot food choices.Go to the AMC on the west side - it’s much better and worth the trip!
