A PRICEY but modern, multi-level cinema (7 stories) with reserved movie theater recliners. At our visit, they previewed future movies for almost 40 minutes prior to finally showing featured movie. Way too long and boring... the sound and volume was fine compared to other competing movie theaters which are usually too loud. Snacks and drinks are also very expensive! My date and I spent almost $75.00 just for regular tickets, mandatory IN-CONVENIENCE fee (sarcasm), nachos / tortillas combo, small popcorn and large drink... NYC crazy!!! The movie we watched, OCEANS 8, wasnt showing elsewhere.
This theatre is straight to the point. Clean, never really overly crowded and has helpful staff. The seats are leather and recline fully back so don’t fall asleep! You will be tempted. Its a comfortable walk to the train and they have your regular movie snacks. I will definitely come back.
Enjoyed the comfort of the reclining seat. Clean theater. Not sure why there arent bathrooms on every floor? 🤔 Its not that big of a deal, just come early in case you need to empty your bladder before the movie starts.Concession stand is small. They dont serve chicken tenders. There are soda machines on pretty much every floor for free refills. 🙂
This AMC is very beautiful. The inside is very clean and has a serene sorta atmosphere. There are several floors, with elevators and escalators to help make the trips up and down easier. They offer free refills on drinks and the variety of the beverages they offer is pretty food. They even have slushies. Plus, the prices for the food isnt as outrageous as some other theaters. My favorite party is that the inside of the theaters are very spacious and have these reclining seats that you can rest on (almost like a bed). This make the movie experience much more comfortable.
This theater ticks most baseline needs for a movie house. It has friendly staff, recliner seats, ease to get tickets, concession stand, convenient location in between two subway stations, plenty of street parking (especially after 7pm), lots of dining options around the area and the cinema is modestly clean. Why I took 2 stars is because this has to be the worst picture quality among amc theaters in the city. The projection is soo dark! What good is a movie theater if it has bad picture quality. Also the bathroom is in the mezzanine level of sorts so it took some getting used to and they like to keep the room temp toasty but thats just me.
I love this theater my only issue is the the available movies are very limited but every theater has red leather reclining seats although the control for the reclining is on the inside which your hip may accidentally hit which is very annoying they have the main concession stand downstairs before you enter with your ticket then on each floor that has a theater they have a drink station the only problem I could think of is the bathrooms and theaters alternate floors but there is definitely plenty of bathrooms and they are small but cozy there is also huge waiting areas with benches and outlets to charge your phone while waiting if you please they have working escalators and an elevator also pretty good views too on the top floor overall I think its a great experience!
They have two advantages. They offer more reclined seats than other amc theater, such as amc 6. Of course, the auditorium offer a larger screen. But they dont offer as many movie playtime as amc 25. I will prefer this theater if both AMC 25 and this theater have the movie I want to watch. The only reason I give 4 stars is their purchase system. When I purchase movie ticket on self service machine, it show most seats reserved, but only half of all seats reserved actually. Some people pick disabled seats in this case.If you see this situation, you had better ask to confirm if all seats are reserved. Because it is hard to believe all seats are sold.
One of our top 5 choices of AMCs that we visit in Manhattan. We have many to choose from and not many are far but one thing I love about this theater is the seats! They recline and give you so much space to spread out. The middle armrest can even go up if you are with someone and want more room together. Never jam packed due to limited seating so I would advise buy tickets ahead!
I went with my friends to see Black Widow 4 days ago and I forgot to post about it😭 but everything was smooth, we got our tickets digitally and the woman who scans it was so nice and generous. The food, of course, is overpriced, I usually get the ICEE because they have a icee machine which is around 7 to 8 (recommended), and everything was smooth. They arent strict with mask wearing if you are vaccinated, like the woman scanning didnt have one, but the people working behind the counter did. Overall, I didnt complain. It is sort of dead too at times, so its a faster process than waiting.
Skip the weekend crowds and enjoy this theater on a weekday, its wonderful! The reclining seats make movie watching very comfortable. Disability friendly too - helpful counter person offered a device for my visually impaired companion, and discovered there are recliners that have space to the side for wheelchairs. The only thing I regret is how crazy expensive popcorn and other concessions are, but thats typical. At least they have a nice variety!
It was weird to be back in a theatre watching a movie after a year and half, but it was midday and the theatre was relatively empty, even before the pandemic midday this theatre was often quiet during the day, but it was nice. Sidebar, none of the staff were wearing masks.
Theater staff are friendly and helpful. On busy nights they maintain a steady flow of good customer service. Bathrooms are not horrible but can be kept up a bit more. Soda machine areas for some reason are always a bit messy. Other than that great place for movie goers.
Super cute small theater. I love the fact that theres reserved seating and the recliner seats are a major plus! The theater was very clean and orderly. They have refill machines with all different flavor sodas which is a must. The only reason why I havent given them 5 stars is because they didnt have jalapenos.Gem of the day: mix jalapenos in cheese dip with nachos. Thank me later.
I was hesitant to give this place 5 stars because I dont want it to be ruined. Recently renovated and near great transit to meet friends. The recliner seats are great, you can reserve online. Drink stations every floor (but popcorn refills will leave you trekking to main story). All in all one of my favorite theatres in Manhattan.
Decent AMC for sure. Theater houses are usually tidy. Seats are extremely comfortable. Several adjustment levels are available. Restrooms are usually tidy. Staff is mostly friendly and accommodating. Ready for Atom ticket scans as well as onsite kiosks. I recommend this little gem in the village.
This is one of my favorite theaters in the area. Its not even because of the great comfy seats. The culture is great. I hate having to sit through a movie with noisy and annoying people. Ive been going here for 2 years now and I havent had one bad experience. Seems that most people that come to this theater dont come with kids. You can also reserve seats in advance and I love that.Edit: Recently they havent been showing any of the new movies upon release. Whats up with that?
Beautiful small theater. Very eco-friendly, which is always a plus in my book. Really warm and welcoming staff. Clean, sleek, and immersive movie screening experience. Well kept bathrooms. Comfortable seats. The only complaint is that finding the right floor can be a little confusing if you dont realize you have to count them in your head as you go up, since theres no labels telling you what floor youre on. Definitely coming back. Highly recommended.
AMC theaters are all great these days. The seats are massive and recline. There are assigned seats so no standing on line waiting to get a good seat. The only reason this location gets a 4 is because there is no butter machine near the 3rd floor concession and we had to go back down to get butter. Also the bathrooms are small.
Its a little more cramped than most AMCs Ive been to, but the theater itself was roomy. They did not know how to use a coupon I brought in. There is not a lot of seating and they often dont show new releases, so I still go to midtown. They do have the big reclining AMC chairs I like and the location is extremely nice.
Very clean and modern theater with reclining pleather loveseats and assigned seating (selected at time of ticket purchase). The front row ended up being way too close to the screen, but we were granted a refund, no questions asked. Excellent customer service and the most luxurious seating Ive seen in a regular movie theater. Will definitely come back.
Ive been to a lot of AMC Theaters. I am a stubs member and enjoy checking out the other theaters when I have the time to. I have to say this is one of the more beautiful theaters. When you walk in you would mediately get tickets and snacks, Im assuming when theyre big Premiere this front area is extremely busy, but it wasnt too busy when I visited and I thought that was great.. Every other floor has a bathroom which I kept very clean. I cant wait to go back to this theater for the next Marvel movie
Good theater to enjoy a flick in. The lobby itself is rather small and the limited space is shared with the concession stand. This wasnt an issue when I arrived since it was fairly early in the afternoon, but I can imagine it gets fairly crowded on a busy night. The staff was polite and welcomed me as I stepped into the lobby. The theater has undergone AMCs revamping, replacing the outdated movie seats with plush recliners making for a comfortable and enjoyable movie going experience.
A little grimy but lovable. Has that 90’s cinema vibe. Very spacious. Just watch out for the electricity company people at the door, aggressively guilt tripping everyone that’s trying to enjoy a night out. They yell at everyone and comment on people’s clothes/hair. Don’t know how AMC is cool with that.
Pretty small and seems to have a pretty limited selection when compared to other locations that are relatively close by. Overall cleanliness is ok - the theaters themselves are good but I’ve been in the bathrooms sometimes when they’ve been pretty grungy. Definitely better than some of the other amc locations I’ve been to though
The love seats were pretty uncomfortable because the armrest would not prop all the way back when sitting with my girlfriend. There are many floors and its kind of confusing where Im supposed to go so I went up and down multiple times but aside from that it was alright. Wish the love seats were more comfortable though.
Saw Deadpool 2 here. Spacious seats, small theater, which I love because it meant i didnt have to strain my eyes if I saw far away, staff are nice. VERY clean. Best smelling bathroom (1st floor) Ive ever been inside. Seriously clean and smelled really nice. Wheelchair accessible.
We brought 10 tickets online and paid about $200 for Despicable Me 3 at AMC Village 7 66 Third Ave (11th St.), New York, NY 10003. However, we just sat down for less than 5 minutes, the fire alarm got off and we were booted from the theater. After 15 minutes waiting outside under 90 degrees heats, we were told that the theater is shut down for the day. The staff was unprofessional and pushing us and yelling at us.No refund was offered but a coupon was thrown at us. She hands out the coupon as if we were beggars. We paid full price for the reclining seat and booked in advance. This is insulting to customer and I would never go back to that theater again! This experience is unacceptable and concerning. I hope management can investigate through this incident and retrain staff how to handle situation like that. This kind of behavior and attitude would really ruin the company’s brand and reputation. Thank you
Went here with my movie pass to see den of thieves, great film. However, the ads lasted over an hour and that wasnt cool at all, it ended so late I didnt even have time to complain to anyone at the desk (there wasnt anyone at the desk also) so I just went home without complaining. However the movie was good and the seats reclined very nicely. The bathrooms can be a bit confusing as to which one is the mens room but Im sure youll figure it out.
Its a cozy theater. They check for id remember to walk with it. The food is great and the staff was nice. I watched Abominable. I went to watch Hustlers but couldnt because I didnt have anyone with me that was 21. Abominable was a great movie. I think its made for all ages. Go watch.
The seats were comfortable, sound was great and our view of the screen was great being in the middle. Only things letting this down was the popcorn left in the seats and the lights left on the entire movie for some reason? Better cleaning, lights out and I would give this cinema 4.5 stars.
Like going to this theater, especially with my wife and children. Its in walking distance to some restaurants in the area. but the AMC premier experience is lacking. They dont enforce the premier concession line rule, everyone just stands on the same line. I pay extra for faster checkout service and here you dont get it. At AMC 25 on 42st,if youre not a premier customer,on the premier line, they will charge you an extra fee.
Ive been to this Theater countless times and when I think about it it does stand out from the crowd. It isnt too far off from your typical cinema experience with the expensive concessions and sticky floors (though it may be cleaner than most). However, a couple of factors distinguish it from its peers.
Great theatre in the Village. Clean, very, very wonderful power reclining seats, and nice size theatre layout. You also get assigned seating which is a gimmick to me but maybe some like it. It mainly means that buying tickets takes forever since every single person ahead of you needs to contemplate the seating chart and pick. Minus one star because they were severly short on ticket cashiers/machines and the need to pick seats made the line CRAWL. They have some nicer concession items, but theyre quite pricey (even for NYC standards). Also, they refuse to allow you to use AMC Stubs with Moviepass (odd, since they get full ticket price anyhow). Thats a problem with AMC as a whole, not this location though so it didnt impact my rating.
A smaller footprint and screen size, but seats are good, theres freestyle machines on every floor, and bathrooms can be looked after a little more but clean. A little on the pricier side if youre paying, but great location and close to the Union Square subway lines, and easy to get to with A-List.
First time at this location. Pleasantly surprised they have a separate concessions line for premiere customers like myself. Very small lobby, and people are on top of each other waiting in line for food. Staff was friendly. Went downstairs to theater 1 and became a bit concerned when the previews never started playing.. just a black screen. Everyone just kind of sat there while the staff said they were trying to fix the projector. Fast forward to 40 minutes after the movie was supposed to start, they come back in and say its cancelled, and give everyone a voucher for a free movie. Never ended up seeing the movie. Heard it wasnt great anyway. Just wished they would have made the determination to not play the movie sooner, instead of having everyone sit there wasting their time.
Amazing comfortable seats and great theater overall. A little expensive, but compared to the AMC on 19th next door, well worth the money. Dont know why the other one even exists. The only negative about this theater is, at least when i was there, it was playing 3 movies. Should be able to play more with however many theaters they have.
Not my favorite of theaters to go to. Visited here to see zombieland double tap, and was greeted by a bunch of kids working behind a counter. For the most part everyone was friendly. But the lack of communication led to a purchase of the wrong movie and ultimately led to a refund and a walk out.
First time. Small theater, limited signage.Had to go to the lobby to find the bathroom sign. When I walked past the ticker taker by 5 feet to look at the sign she needed to see my ticket. Really?? I literally just walked past you and looked at a sign. And you didnt see me, oh wait, you were busy running your mouth and didnt focus on your job. And then want to argue with me.
Back in the day when this theater was first built it was the best place in town. Now the renovation has once again made it a place to go to before most other theaters. Only selection and timing might be the issue but thats true of any movie. The location is amazing for food and drinks before and after and the electric controlled recliner seats are beyond comfortable.
My 1st time here & so far it was fine...the main lobby is too small, from a certain point of view, imagine what it looks like when its crowded with a popular film. & having two entrances makes it a bit more confusing to where you stand to buy tickets...unless you have been here before & know the tricks...i may & will revise this review at a much later time when i spend more time at tis locale...
Clean theater, recently upfitted recliner leather seats that are narrower than at other theaters, friendly and attentive employees. Elevator and escalators to upper levels. 2-hr metered on-street parking M-F 8am-7pm. Parking free after 7p & all day on Sundays. Restrooms on even floors, theaters on odd floors. Drink & slushie refill on level 7. Unsure, but possibly on other levels as well.
Out of all the AMCs Ive been to this one just seemed small. Screen was average & the seats even though they reclined wich is usually awesome, were to narrow and very uncomfortable. As always the staff was great & being a Stubbs member is very beneficial, especially on Tuesdays😁 Over all its an AMC theater so theres not much to criticize.
I love this new AMC renovated location of what used to be a Sony Theater back in the days . The new a improved location is not a conventional movie theater anymore, now you can choose your seats and dont have to worried about not havent a great view of that movie that so eager u wanted to see. Tickets are a bit more expensive and the soda machine is on the first floor with a lot of foot traffic coming and going not the best spot.
Currently undergoing construction, which gives the place a kind of bombed-out vibe. The staff (usually only one or two people) usually dont bother to make sure the theater doors are closed when the screening begins, and the doors open directly onto the auditorium, so light and sound bleed right in. Unfortunate design.
Typical overpriced Manhattan movie theater, but with those nice reclining seats so it feels like youre paying for SOMETHING. When I went here to see John Wick 3, the movie was a blank screen, no video or audio, for like 10 minutes and then when they finally got it working we still had to sit through all the like 20 minutes of previews. I had a tight schedule that day so I didnt get to see the last 20 minutes of the movie :(
Great movie venue for watching first rate movies on the Big-Screen especially in [3d] or IMAX. Pricier movie-goes items like a large popcorn and a large drink will run the gamut of another movie ticket but, some specials offer free refills on every floor. Not too bad. But, only if youre willing to take out another loan on the next date.Fantastic place for kids and families of all ages, including the run-of-the-mill-adults too but otherwise well within reach of hotspots in-and-all-around (Astor Place, Cooper Union) and the Funky Bunch ...《Place du Jour》 ! ! !I kid you not !Running everywhere only just blocks from the No. 6 Subway lines on both directions headed uptown-downtown near Starbucks and K-Mart !
This is a really nice spot in Downtown Manhattan to catch a flick. It is centrally located, and it is quite quiet during the day...so its a perfect place to slip in for a movie as an escape from the incessant grind of NYC...Im a shrink working in the Flatiron District, and I love having few AMC options for such an escape when my schedule permits!
This cinemaplex offers the best movie going experience Ive ever had. All of their seats are plush electronically controlled recliners (think La-Z-Boy). All of their seats are also testable in advance. For concessions, they have self-serviceCoke machines that can make you any variety of soda you please and free refills. And self service slushie machines. These machines are on every floor, right outside of the theaters.
6/5/18 Spanish ticket taker said he to me and my mom and said I need to see one if your I.d.’s I stood there forever digging through my wallet trying to find my I.D. I had to show my I.d. When I purchased the tickets and latter on when I showed my tickets by a Spanish woman with glasses at about 9:40pm. While I was digging in my wallet two white laddies went through freely and while in the bathroom up stairs in the bathroom other older black woman said they were asked for I.d. And one Spanish lady said she was asked for i.d. And she was seeing a PG movie with her son. I won’t be back to this racist theater again.
Really narrow entrance area and the place seems understaffed. The escalators dont work above like level 3, so good luck walking up four levels like I did to theatre 7. The employees all look very bored and are just interacting with each other rather than the customers.
Went here to see movie at about 11pm which probably affected my experience greatly. For one, the theater wasnt packed. In fact it was pretty empty; at my showing of Dr. Strange, there were only about 25 people in the theater. The theater was clean and the staff was friendly.
Definitely overpriced for a movie theater but I guess thats just the way NYC does it. Drinks and popcorn are massive so definitely downsize if youre unsure what size to get. Great lazyboy seats- I love leaning back to watch a movie. And the sound system is never too deafening
This is my second time going to the amc village 7 movie theatre And the first time i liked it because You can get free soda a slushees refills and because how clean it is that’s the whole reason why i went back and i just went yesterday again to see a simple favor 30 minutes into the movie i started hearing a noise but i didn’t pay it no mind i kept watching the movie and from the corner of my eye i see something run to the couches next to me so i already knew what it was a mouse so i kept on looking around and i saw too mouses. This is the last time i go to this movie theater
I have been to this theater a total of 6 times, everytime there is some sort of issue. Now last night the on duty manager had clearly developed a sort of disgust for the moviepass users. She was extremely rude when explaining they must refund a ticket onto a card just so that we could change our tickets from a 9:30 pm show to a 10pm show, in which case someone with movie pass will not get that credit back to is for a ticket for that day. Not only did she feel the need to be condescending to the moviepass users, but the women sitting behind the electronic ticket machine, doing absolutely nothing as a job, felt the need to chime in and get involved. I was basically, in an instant, ganged up-on because one person in our group wanted to change a movie time ticket and had paid with movie pass. When they refused to issue the ticket, we all got refunds and when to another theater, only 4 blocks away!Lesson here for the theater? They are going out of business in downtown manhattan left and right, you have competition. Maybe do not be condescending to people paying $19 to see a crappy movie in your filthy theater, or discriminate how they are paying you money.
One of the nicer theaters in manhattan. Recliner seats, reserved seating, good quality sound and picture. Of course it is a NYC theater, so expect the usual bad behavior of guests (phones, talking, babies, etc) that only Alamo Drafthouse seems to care about preventing.
With the overall declining theater experience in general (high prices, overcrowding, bad manners of theater goers, talking during the movie , mobile phones ringing, 45 minutes of commercials, etc etc) I dont see many movies in theaters these days. But the new reclining red seats are worth the extra $$.
GREAT STAFF,DECENTLY PRICED TICKETS AND A GOOD SELECTION OF MOVIES TO CHOOSE FROM.THE THEATERS ARE CLEAN AND I LIKE THE RECLINING RESERVED SEATING.I LOVE TO GO THERE FROM STATEN ISLAND BECAUSE THE M15 BUS STOPS CLOSE BY.YOU NEVER HAVE TO GO THROUGH AN EMBARRASSING BAG CHECK LIKE YOU DO AT REGAL THEATERS.NO OUTSIDE FOOD ALLOWED BUT ITS ON YOUR HONOR. I LOVE THAT. I OFTEN CARRY PERSONAL ITEMS IN MY BAG. I DISLIKE WHEN PEOPLE INVADE MY PRIVACY.
Love the theatre ,food. Staff, however movie pass user are slowing the lines down .. they receive the member ship with no knowledge on how to use it then take 20 minutes to gain knowledge From a worker.. line piles up now everybody is impatient n worked up .. theatre lobby is small it becomes a brute mob mentality.
Maybe not the best location but theater itself clean and pleasant. Reclining seats are super comfy and new (at least in 6th auditorium).Food is obviously quite pricey. If you’ll strike for an early showings you can get a ticket under $10 after taxes.A very nice bonus is the view from the 6th floor.
Teribble! Horrible! The absolute worst! I went to see a movie after work, i had dinner first and had left overs before i went. So obviously i wasnt let in. So i went back down for a refund, and had to wait 10mins for the manager. He finally came down and proceeded to get me the refund, the next thing i know, hes on the phone chatting for a good 10mins. I wait patiently thinking he was calling about my refund, then he casually hands me my refund ticket and it was then i realized the call had nothing to do with my refund. So this man had me waiting for almost 15mins while chatting when all he had to do was give me my ticket . There were other customers waiting for him also but he didnt care. Never again. He needs to be let go, seems hes tired of his job.
So hard to watch movie in non 3D here.why do they force people to pay 3D to watch movies that is meant for 2D (not shot with 3D camera)I dont mind the price, but the 3D glasses and the movie is so dark. This is a major issue.I would gladly pay extra +$5 on top of their 3D price to watch it on 2D.Its not the money.. its the lame dark and dizziness experience from 3D converted movies..me and others already start buying tickets elsewhere to watch avengers in 2D. What a shame.

2022-05-01Maybe the reclining seats were top notch 4 years ago, but currently they are falling apart. On 3 separate occasions at this theater I’ve gotten a recliner that either was not working *at all* or it would only recline half way before giving up on one side, thus you’re reclined in an awkward asymmetrical position. Not comfortable. These chairs needs maintenance asap. Not a great experience at all. REGAL has bigger recliners, more comfy & overall more consistent in their maintenance. AMC has really fallen off. Especially this location.

2022-03-05Great theater! Clean! I went to see a movie on a Saturday afternoon and it was nearly empty. There were only three other people in the theater.

2022-05-07Not the best theater experience in Manhattan. Impaired mobility visitors may find it difficult to navigate the theaters interior, as there are no down escalator upon entry. Lack of staff assistance on elevators and limited concession menu. Relocating to an uptown theater, recommended.

2022-06-18I absolutely love this specific location. It’s so comfortable and cost. The staff is always so nice and helpful. A special recognition to joseph. His professionalism and his patience needs to be recognized. ;)

2022-05-20Why is half the unbound escalator always out of service it feels like ut has bee. That way for years. My big issue is let people know from they take tickets. It is really difficult if you have issues either walking up or down stairs and uou are not aware till you are already on your way up and encounter that issue. Other than that the theater was clean and well provisioned

2018-07-26Better get a bit front row seats rather then upper or middle. May be 3 rows down from the screen.Too busy, congested and not worth the price. At least the the theater 2 was not good. it’s basically flat theater, because of that front row seats and people will obstruct the view of back seats. Weekend ticket price is 18.99.I would prefer AMC kips bay 15 over it. It’s 16.99 there and it offers much better recliners and screens.

2022-06-12It’s nice. Lol If you are picky about seats. Taller or husky guys like me. You will love it. 😉

2021-11-30I believe the was clean not over crowded. The seats were replaced with leather and recline to wear you are comfortable and dont fall asleep. Theater is spacious, staff is helpful, courteous and ready to help you enjoy your time with the movie. Definitely will have to come back again soon. 💥😁🥨🥤

2021-12-07Very clean especially during the pandemic, fair prices for tickets & food (the food has always been good) & a friendly/helpful staff. The only downside is each time Ive come here ( maybe five times so far) the escalators going down never seem to work so its definitely not physical disability friendly.

2022-03-14I ran into this establishment dyinggggg to use the bathroom in my nurse uniform and the old lady at the front told me I had to buy a ticket! Another female to a female, and she really denied me of bathroom privileges after being an AMC Stubbs member for years! Black people always have to be against each other it’s a shame! She’s a disgrace
