I loveeeeee Dora’s, authentic Dominican food! I work nearby and order from here all the time with my coworkers. My go to is the $10 special with rotisserie chicken, rice, beans, and sweet plantain. Great portions (can’t beat the price/amount of food). Also the oxtail, mangu, stewed chicken are great options as well. (Plus free delivery). Also great customer service. 5/5 would recommend.
The best Dominican restaurant in town. The rotisserie chicken is amazing. My wife and I cant stop eating their lunch combo, which includes one whole chicken, large plate of rice, small container of bean, small container of sweet plantain, and 2L of soda. Every lunch they have is a taste of Dominican Republic cuisine. A must have is their chicken soup and Sancocho. But everything you eat there is like you are eating freshly cook, dominican food.
I was not impressed with this Spanish restaurant. I ate here several times, it was just okay. I ordered the pernil with yellow rice and beans. The cooks did not use too many spices on the pernil. The yellow rice was okay, a bit on the dry side. The beans were mediocre. Prices are competitive with other restaurants in the area. The staff was very friendly.
The food is good. I get the roast chicken a lot. Ive had better much better Spanish food but this is the only cuchifritos in the neighborhood.UPDATE: they must have a new cook because the food just got worse. Rice was hard and pernil was waaaaay over seasoned with salt (and I love salt) and cilantro, but no garlic...crazy. Tasted like I was eating salted herbs and not meat. But hey the chicken is still good.I had to remove a star.
As far as the classic nyc Dominican restaurants are concerned the food was so vibrant looking. Everything looked so delicious. i didnt know what to choose. so i had everything (kidding, no, I had the codfish. i was made like I have ever seen. very good but not super tasty. The rice and beans were on point tho. Then they had a weird but delicious looking guacamole that was more wet than the average guar but it was dupe delicious. citrusy and good. loved it.Next time Im close by i wanna try the meats. those looked the best.
Stick to the basics and youll have #noproblemo at Doras! You cant go wrong with Dominican staples like Mofongo, Pernil or Chicharron de pollo seasoned to perfection! Stop by for a full meal including rice, beans and salad and add extras like fresh aguacate salad, sweet platanos, and flan made daily! Papi always has good conversation for you as long as he isnt super busy!
Someone pleaseeeeee open a new Dominican restaurant in the neighborhood i hate this place! They are rude rude rude the worst customer service, and the food is not even all that and they are more expensive then a typical neighborhood spanish restaurant. AND if you dont speak spanish they charge u more i have seen it with my own eyes!

2021-07-22The first few times I ordered from Doras was great, but recently they havent been picking up the phone, and when they do, it results in them hanging up on me. Resulting in me having wasted my time, and with no delicious food.In addition when they do pick up the phone and take my order, delivery takes over an hour and arrives cold.

2016-12-18Knowing this place is busy on a weekend, I came in to order at 5:08 pm, paid for the order and went in to pick it up an hour later because the rotisserie chicken wasnt ready. The owner said he was going to have the order delivered to my house when I came back at 6 pm because there was a rush and they didnt put my food to the side. My wife called at 7 pm and they said it left to be delivered. I called at 7:15 pm and I got the same song. At 7:45, I went back find out what happened to the order and the owner told me it left. It shouldnt have taken more than 2 and a half hours to prepare to rotisserie chickens and a large yellow rice. The change of ownership isnt helping this establishment. Justin (the previous owner) would have never let this happen. This place has lost a customer of 5 years.TL:DR - order was paid for and took 2.5 hours to get to my house because the gave my order away, ran out of chicken and said they were going to deliver my order

2020-02-02I used to love this place, but I moved from the neighborhood and haven’t had it in 6 years. I craved it today and my husband found out it was still there and went to get our family dinner. I was so excited I almost dropped my plate when he handed it to me. Boy was I in for a surprise. The rice was hard and severely undercooked. Next was my guilty pleasure, sweet plantains; also raw, undercooked. Then the pernil; bland, whypipo bland. No salt pepper garlic, nowhere near any of this food. I’m so disappointed. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because my heart won’t let me give a poc 1 star
