Excellent wine! But do you like your French Onion Soup COLD? Well Amelie is the right place to go. Dont harry up, however, because theyll serve it ~35 min. late anyway (no wonder it was cold), so youve got planty of time. Why? Who cares why! I never share my problems with the kitchen, why should I care about their problems? In other words you could do better, many alternatives next door.
Very delicious French small bistro! We love it.We just moved to UWS this morning and we are so happy to try this french restaurant next to us. The lunch menu is great, service is good. The seats are limited but it’s also why I like the intimacy the ambience is.Will come back!!!非常值得推薦的法國🇫🇷餐廳在上西城區!
Got take out from this gem of a restaurant this week and everything was amazing! The homemade ravioli was bursting with interesting flavors, the watercress salad was so fresh, the crunchy fries thankfully survived the 15 minute drive-park-plate and the soup was seasoned perfectly. We can’t wait to pick up from here again!
Amazing. Wine selection was great. We arrived early for our reservation and Stefan went well beyond to find us a place to sit for a glass of wine as we waited for a table.Exceptional service and vibe. The escargot was fantastic as was the chicken. One of the better restaurants I’ve been to in NYC. Definitely recommend and will be back.
5 stars for service and ambiance. And probably its very nice to go there for the wine flight. But I went there for brunch and the food was more like 2 stars:/ had the lamburger which was highly recommended but I really didnt like the taste of it... the crouque madam was too moist for my taste and the steak was just a steak.Id probably go there again for wine and cheese but not for brunch...
Our evening at Amelie was absolutely perfect. Such delicious food, and a really cozy and warm vibe inside. We ordered the escargot with puff pastry - which were spectacular - garlicky, buttery, and super tender - cooked perfectly. We also ordered the Pomme Frites which were perfect - they totally hit the spot especially with the aioli and ketchup sauces for dipping (i feel like the ketchup was also elite?!). As a main we got the Duck...and oh baby..it was sooo scrumptious. Super juicy, tender, very crispy and flavorful skin...in an amazing jus with broccolini and mushrooms...I could eat that every night! Best duck I have had in years. Run dont walk to Amelie for delicious french cuisine.
Perfectly legitimate wine bar. Server/bartender vs. Manager/bartender relationship led to some snippiness from the former to us at the bar,, while the later was schmoozing, leading to longer than desired refill times, but not outrageous. The melted brie with bread came with 4 small pieces of bread and we were left with melted cheese with nothing to scoop with. It was delish but awkward. The later from before was wonderful and welcoming behind the bar. It just seems they might need to work out who should be where doing what. I suggest giving them a shot. Nice wine list by the glass and bottle. Nice big red wine glasses. It is intimate in there. Not for the still covid nervous. They made serious checks for vax cards though. I had forgotten my phone, and had to go back for it in order to sit down. I will try them again.
Ive been eating here awhile. I can tell you the food is amazing and reasonably priced (pistachio goat cheese ball, chicken sandwich, steak sandwich and the burger are my faves). But this review is specifically about the amazing service.I just had foot surgery a few days ago so I cant leave my apt. I ordered a steak sandwich but it was missing the garlic aioli which is my favorite. I called to let them know. The guy was so sweet and brought it over 10min later along with a complimentary dessert. Ill forever be a customer here.
A truly sublime Saturday evening. I went with three other friends and we ALL fell for the service, the ambience, the camaraderie that is all things best in New Yorkers - and the FOOD, which is the jewel in Amelie’s crown. The person who had the burger with fried egg loved it so much, he didn’t spare me a taste, LOL. As for the rest of the table, the special ceviche was a standout, as was the exquisite burrata with beets and the most classic of Lyonnaise Salades I’ve had in recent memory. The star of the meal, however - at least for me - was the EXQUISITE watermelon gazpacho.Did I mention the chocolate mousse? the KNOCKOUT martinis? Just… go. GO. Be dazzled.
Great happy hour! Wine selection is good and they know how to make a great French 75 (refreshing and not too sweet). The food offered at happy hour is pretty good too. The chicken liver mousse was delicious and they served it with just the right amount of baguette. I certainly will be coming back.

Amazing place, with great hospitality - the host is constantly trying to accommodate everyone - even during busy hours. Service doesnt seem affected even though they are always busy - all employees we interacted with were professional, and seemed happy to be working here. Food was excellent - steak was very well prepared, the cheese platter was great. Great choice in wine flights - highly recommend it!
The food was delicious, the service was lacking. We felt a little profiled honestly. Were in our early 30s and look a bit younger. Every table with gray hair was paid at least twice as much attention as us. I have mixed feelings, go here for great French food, but try to look old for great service.
This place is a refreshing little European island in Manhattan. The people who run it are lovely and you can tell really care and work hard to keep the quality high and try to make sure everyone has a great experience. There’s only so many of them so you may be hanging out for a bit which...Is exactly what you want! I had the burger and it’s dope.
A had a place in France for many years, and also lived there again for about a year a couple years back. So needless to say, I’ve had my fair share of French cuisine from many different regions. This place gives me flashbacks to some of the best places I’ve eaten in France every time I take a bite! Well done gentleman, this is truly a gem on the UWS! PS the wine selection is top notch also... well done Olivier!
We will be back again and again - we just had the most marvelous meal with a scrumptious Rose bottle to boot. The cheese plate is divine with high caliber cheese from an assortment of animal milks. My partner loved the croquettes of the day and escargot. The frisee salad with poached eggs and asparagus were my delicious endeavor. The aioli looked homemade and rich in flavor .Lastly but the most important in this review is the service, the team taking care of us were on top of things, pleasant, friendly and knowledgeable about their menu .They took marvelous care, booked our table for a few weeks out and made the dinner better through their care without ever interrupting.I not only am a huge advocate of theirs but I will regularly return and absolutely use this as a quality restaurant to bring parents to when they visit .Absolutely go - I think youll be hard pressed not to fall as head over heels as we did!
We brunched here for a party of 7. My chicken sandwich was great, and the whole table seemed pleased with their meals- especially the fresh bread on the sandwiches and with the salads. The reasonable prices for quality food and service definitely makes up for the minimal beer options (although I cannot fairly complain about that at wine bar).
My sandwich was great! But their avocado toast looked pretty sad. Also they are not very child friendly. My niece and nephew had a hard time finding something to eat. Also the server asked the table, dare I say the children (4,8) if they wanted dessert and when their mom said apple pie and my nice who is 4 said chocolate soufflé, they brought both. Thats not appropriate to go by what the child says without confirming with the parent. Also their appe pie was supposed to come with ice cream. What child doesnt like ice cream? But it came with fresh cream. The server needs yo be more updated on how the items are made. Had we known that we would have gone elsewhere for dessert.
New neighborhood gem! Went on a Friday night around 7. Wine list was good, many offerings by the glass. The two bordeaux were both excellent, and my wife enjoyed the chenin blanc. The charcuterie plate was top notch. The steak frites and mussels were perfectly executed and delicious; the steak was perfectly cooked, the fries were crunchy outside/fluffy inside, and the mussels were in a wonderful, garlicky broth. The service was spectacular. Will be returning!
Super cute wine bar restaurant on the upper west. Went there on Friday, guess it had opened just a few days before but friendly staff are polished from their downtown successful sister restaurant Amelie. Great wine selection by the glass, superb apetizers and suprisingly delicious entrees and deserts. Definetly going back in the new year. Want to be a regular there
Had brunch here, and atmosphere was great. Like the new layout and feel. Brunch was ok, but could be better. I had the eggs Norwegian, and although it wasnt bad, I cant say it wowd me. Portions were also European size, and I was not completely full at the end of the meal.
What a horrible experience! We came to the restaurant to celebrate my friend’s 80 th birthday! The “general manager” of the restaurant or that’s how he called himself was so extremely rude and an obnoxious that we had to leave the restaurant in the middle of our dinner! I had never experienced anything like that in my life!
The super cost-effective French restaurant Amelie, the magic is that the side dishes in each dish absolutely steal the limelight 😝* With a leg of lamb that cost more than forty dollars, I really can’t buy it and I can’t be fooled. Leftover ate two more meals before finishing it 🤣 Especially the mashed potatoes as a side dish, it’s really the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever eaten! The texture is silky and smooth, like eating dessert.*Snails - Unlike other snails, their snails are served with their shells removed and wrapped in puff pastry. This pastry is dipped in soy sauce, and the oily aroma is mixed with the thick soy sauce flavor. Can you give me a dozen!* Clams - yes, Im complimenting the side dish again! 😆The included bread is dipped in white wine sauce, the full taste is so blissful, and the deliciousness cant be stopped.
We discovered this place last night, the unbeatable service, the very reasonable price, the food very well prepared and presented, modern and cozy decoration, I suggest the wine tasting (3), very well served and with variety, happy hours of 5-7 in order of week. (Even without happy hour the price seemed very good). We will be back for sure !!

2022-06-06A nice French bistro with a cool vibe. The outdoor seating in the parklet was noisy and some other diners complained about it being stuffy.Service was somewhat random: the waitress took down our order wrong, adding an item we didn’t order. Then the server brought us multiple items that we didn’t order, multiple times. The food we got was good, some items were very good. Favorites included the octopus and the lamb burger. The mussels were ok, not the freshest but also none that were bad.

2022-03-19I usually never think about French food, I like spices, until I found Amelie. I have been wanting to go back since visiting a week ago. The escargot and the goat cheese appetizers were great. Burger was actually cooked to medium like we ordered, and the coq au vin was delicious. The restaurant is small and intimate. Staff was very friendly and service never missed a beat. Will probably visit again this weekend.

2022-04-03Id recommend Amelie for a solid, unpretentious meal. I often order their fish dishes because they have always been cooked perfectly. They also have one of the better burgers in the area.

2022-06-26Amelie truly is a neighborhood gem. This small but charming place advertises itself as a wine bar, but the food is always tasty, fresh, and nicely served. The staff are friendly and helpful, and your water glass is NEVER empty! Good Happy Hour bargains and lovely bistro food--small plates and main courses. Treat yourself to a little bit of France on the UWS.

2021-04-29Another amazing night out at Amelie. A quick, easy impromptu Happy Hour with my daughter. Had an incredible time as always. Great food, delicious wine and an ever accommodating staff. Love Amelie for so many reasons!

2021-01-30An absolute delight. Loved the wine selection, which one can tell is hand picked. Delicious food, even with my dairy allergy! They were understanding. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The mussels and fries were amazing! They have heated seating, which is cozily distributed. Attentive kind service. Will be back.

2022-03-22Great food, maybe the best Coq Au Vin I have ever tasted. Nice wine list. But the service is not great. There is one waiter who is very attentive. But the others are inconsistent at best.

2022-06-07HORRIBLE!!! Ate there Monday. Moules. Disgusting. Their ‘famous’ burger. Asked for Medium. Served nearly raw. Fix? No. Worst was , we made reservation early to accommodate six of us. They shoved us in back—lighting so dim we barely saw the food and noisy kitchen was intolerable. They refused to move us. THERE ARE PLENTY OF WONDERFUL FRENCH RESTAURANTS ON UPPER WEST. DON’T GO HERE!!!!!!

2022-04-18Perfect place for a casual dinner date. This casual yet sophisticated wine bar serves up a delightfully lengthy and unique list of wines, many by the glass and has excellent food options. The service was excellent, making just the right amount of contact, was friendly, and provided excellent suggestions. There are many ways to interact with the menu, from cheese and charcuterie plates to creative yet simple hot aps, and an enticing entree list. The roasted half chicken was intensely jucy and flavorfull. The escargot was tasty, but could have used a couple more snails, and the baked camembert was delicious, and fun but could have used more garlic confit and honey. Also, everything was moderately under salted to my taste, but this was easily corrected.

2022-03-27Great! We really enjoyed our evening here - got the magret de canard, which was delicious. Husband got coq au vin, which was also great. Also, we noticed a lot of French patrons (a good sign). Definitely a great spot for French food. I recommend!
