I never had any prior knowledge to Acting or the process before I joined this program back in 2017, only with the deep seeded passion of wanting to pursue it as a career, but having no idea how to get started. When I first met Rick, I knew immediately it was the right fit. He has a great intellect for what he has accumulated over his experience in Theater and carries it throughout any 8 week program that you can attend.Patience is one of his greatest strengths, such as working with a fellow Actor or Actress that is either inexperienced or has been in the Industry for decades, he can guide anyone through the teachings and techniques of the craft with confidence. Sense Memory, which is one of the tools you will receive from Rick, is the bread and butter for approaching your emotional pool that will excel you in any Acting work. Rick has a very helpful sensibility when it comes to collaborating on a script or play in the class. If stumped with questions about Character Analysis, Sense Memory, Improv, Rick is available to guide you into the right direction. His class is also has a very relaxed atmosphere, allowing a freedom of expression without judgement. It is a great place to meet like minded individuals who are hungry to create and want to express themselves. Whatever it is that you are working on artistically (a play, film scene, monologue, commercial, song, etc.), it is accepted with open arms, but also given constructive criticism, which is especially necessary for growth.Throughout the last couple of years, I have taken the time to apply these techniques and exercises for my own personal work throughout Film Projects and I can definitely say that they have supported me immensely. The American Art Theatre Actors Workshop is a great opportunity for any person who wants to expand their abilities as an Artist.

Rick is by far the most compassionate teacher I have ever know. Ive never encountered a smarter , more aware acting coach then he. His skill and approach far surpasses any teaching Ive had since being in the business. His methods and friendship have changed my life. I am an artist thanks to him. He has absorbed , worked and been taught by the best and he himself is a true artist! If your desire as an actor, is to have excellent understanding of your character and the work, and to hold these parts in your heart forever, Rick is the only Acting teacher to work with, whether you are in NYC or Long Island. I only wish I could convince him to Act with me.

Rick Imberman is a very special acting teacher.Having studied acting with some pretty good pros in New York and LA, I was skeptical about finding a quality teacher on Long Island. So, when I first joined Rick’s class about 4 years ago, I was a bit wary. I now put Rick right up there at the top.It turns out Rick was steeped in NY theater and has worked with some incredible talent along the way.And he takes all that experience to every single class. He is an excellent listener and great judge of what’s working or not working in a scene. He is also patient, caring, and knows how to gently lead each actor to bring out the best in themselves.I have been a professional comedian and an actor with credits that include Everybody Loves Raymond, as well as a Funny Fake Expert for corporate events.I can honestly say that even with all my years of performing, Rick’s classes have helped me sharpen my skills and stay on top of my game as a comedian and actor.I recently shot a small role in a new Ray Romano film and Rick’s training really kicked in before and during the shoot. I was actually able to relax and even enjoy myself on set, knowing that I was hitting my marks and then some.Harry Freedman

I have been a student of Ricks for about two years and would recommend his class above others for both experienced and beginning actors. Rick creates a safe space for his students and an atmosphere of respect, collaboration and compassion. Rick is strong and honest but with no judgments and her is very generous with his time and attention. Ive also found the other students to be supportive, respectful and fun to work with. Concerning Covid, Rick takes every necessary precaution and I felt very safe in the classroom environment.

Rick Imberman is a brilliant instructor and his script analysis is beyond compare. You will get more than your moneys worth whether your goal is to learn technique as a professional actor or to just broadening your artistic horizons trying something new in a safe, learning environment. I have been going to this class for years and have met so many kindred spirits and friends along the way.

Rick Imberman has all the right tools to get beginning students and those with experience to go deep into your senses needed to learn the craft and feel the thrill of bringing out the best in your performance. I cannot think of a more rewarding experience in learning an art form.

Rick Imberman is one of the finest teachers that I have had the pleasure of working with. He is kind, caring and introspective- qualities that he imparts on his students as well. I’ve been learning more and more about myself with each successive class.

It’s a community of artistic souls > there are so few places where one can share themselves without judgment but encouragement for your group • excitement about watching them growTheir growth can be attributed to the brilliant teaching skills of the director - Rick ImbermanHe reminds people that simply telling the truth without embellishment or ‘acting’ is what will convey the intent of the writerHe is so well trained > Actors Studio, NYU + the list goes on and onHe has performed, directed + worked behind the scenes > he has approached Acting from all vantage points. He has many other impressive skills in other aspects of unique living skills……..hopefully this gives you the flavor of this exceptional opportunityWith much appreciation, Diane Salzberg

With Rick Imberman’s American Art Theatre Actors Workshop, Long Islanders neednt go to Manhattan to find the finest acting studio possible. Soaring above all others on LI and ranked with the citys best, the American Art Theatre has been acclaimed by famed actors and teachers, as well as the Cinema Arts Centre and Newsday. All recognize Imberman as one of the last supremely experienced actors and teachers to have studied with Manhattan’s three legendary acting teachers who decisively shaped the dramatic arts for all time. LI’s serious aspiring actors mustn’t deny themselves the privilege of studying at the American Arts Theatre if they wish to join other former students who have achieved concrete success in their careers. –-Jud Newborn, PhD, Cinema Arts Centre Curator
