I’ve been getting my prescription for contacts and glasses here for a few years now. Called today to request they sent me my prescription over via email. The girl that picked up the phone told me they were busy with a customer, that I should call back in a half hour or simply go pick it up in person. Guess she forgot that people who call into the store are also customers and deserve the same type of priority. It wasn’t a problem for me to call back, it was the tone and manner in which she responded as if my requests were a bother. I eventually called back and someone else picked up the phone who was helpful but couldn’t find it and said she would call back. Eventually the first girl called me back to tell me it was expired, again with the same condescending tone. Train your employees on how to properly talk to people. Wont be going back to renew it thanks to her.
Take note of the negative reviews, wish I had seen them before giving them any business. Lady with dark hair that works in the front IS rude and unwelcoming, also a LIAR once she has your business. Bad apple. I will never be returning. She will keep driving customers away. Owner may want to look into this.

I had to renew my driver’s license with a vision test so decided to do it all in one go with an optometrist visit as I hadn’t seen the doctor in over 5 years. It was a great visit. The doctor was amicable and straightforward with me and didn’t try to push any unwanted tests, even going the extra mile of explaining the health of my eyes which I’ve never had done before. Definitely appreciated his services and would have no problem coming back to him as my optometrist in the future.The ladies at the front were very professional and friendly, going over all the different price ranges and the coverage that my insurance offered. I’ve been used to paying about $600+ for my glasses over the years as my eyesight isn’t the greatest so I was pleasantly surprised when they helped me and I paid half of what I usually do!They also have an overwhelmingly huge selection to choose from but made it easy for me when I told them what style I liked and they narrowed it down. On top of that, they were super accommodating when I decided to change the frames last minute. I honestly couldn’t have asked for better service.Thank you guys again!! Really looking forward to picking up my new glasses from them and start using them ASAP so I can show them off!
The lady working there is very rudeshe doesn’t want to help.my son broke his glasses and I want to know if the insurance will cover or I have to buy one she ignore me.and she helped a lady came after me.after I left I went to cohen and I buy one for my kid they are very nice and helpful at cohen. It’s not good to lose your clients because unhelpful lady working.never go this place again
My visits were awesome. Dr.Dreker. Dr. Norman was personable and knowledgeable when I called. The optometrist and receptionist were excellent. I’m summary AV Bayside is a hit. The way they care for clients as I saw in person abs how they cared for me was professional consistently. Only thing that would make my appointment better would be free coffee, kittens, puppies, free glasses, free pizza Nonetheless, I accept that no one is perfect and I’m satisfied that they did provide exceptional optical care.
I had an exceptional experience while visiting American Vision of Bayside for my routine checkup. I could make an appointment while being accommodated around my schedule and received great and friendly service from the staff. The person at the front was super helpful and went above and beyond to get an issue with my insurance resolved. Dr. Decker was very efficient and straight to the point. I was in and out in no time. Definitely would recommend.
Julia, at American vision in Bell Blvd , was very patient and understanding as I went through several pairs of frames. After I got my new glasses they had to be adjusted by a young man named Spiro. He is very precise and meticulous in getting a good fit for the customer. I appreciated his work and precision.

American Vision is one of the better opticians I’ve ever been to. The doctors are terrific and have done a fantastic job fitting me for contacts over the years. When one of my contacts broke, they arranged for it to be replaced quickly. They also take my company’s vision insurance, which is great.
Expect to pay around $900 for a pair of glass without insurance. With insurance, $500 out of my pocket, which is still exorbitant amount. I was shocked to find out when my insurance told me total bill was 900.No itemized invoice. Nothing has price tag at the store. It feels like they charge you whatever they feel like on that day.And the poor service from the owner and family leaves such a bad taste. Once you pay, the owners attitude takes 180. However the male employee was courteous and helpful.

This was absolutely the perfect experience very clean very Covid friendly. Im a long time customer. Excellent service for both my daughter and myself. The eye doctor thoroughly explained the eye imaging in a way that I was able to understand. Happy that the imaging was taken to use as a baseline for future eye exams. Very satisfied.

This was my first time having my eye exam and glasses made at American Vision. The experience was very good, the staff is very friendly and professional and the price of my glasses was affordable. During this time of the pandemic they are following sanitary precautions. I will definitely recommend American Vision and I will go back for my annual eye exam.

I absolutely love this place. They have amazing customer service. They’re responsive, patient, and polite. They have a great selection of frames and if there’s a pair you’d like they can find that pair and order it for you. Due to covid, they require you to make a reservation to come in but they’re very punctual. The most I’ve waited is 5-10 minutes. The doctors are also extremely nice. I originally went to visionworks to get a pair of glasses and the treatment was night and day. This place is literally better in every single category and the people are so polite. Just don’t forget to bring some money for the meter.
Top notch and knowledgeable staff. My exam was thorough yet also quick. They have a great selection of glasses in all ranges. My contacts, a complex order, came in within a week. My glasses were a problem because of my insurance company merging with another. But as soon as they were in I got a text and got an expert fitting. I highly recommend. They also work with Medicaid which is a blessing.
When my eyeglass frames were broken, the manager and associates were diligent about searching for a loaner frame I could use. Then, my lens were inserted into the loaner. My frame was fixed quickly. The service is professional and friendly, and I appreciate it.

Dr. Elyse Decker was the best. I called for an emergency, and saw her on the same day. She gently removed a particle lodged in my right 👁 eye. Quick, caring and professional. Her office is set up safely for covid 19 protection. Front desk staff excellent also. My newest eye care facility ❤
American Vision was very responsive when I needed them to help my elderly mother. They provided the glasses very quickly and I needed them very quickly, they were very helpful, nice people efficient and very professional. The women behind the counter is rude not only to other employees as seen by customers but also rude to the actual customer I been going to this location for years with my whole family but as of today I will never return attn: owner the person will help you close down due to loss of business shes lazy and nasty
Well first this is my second time having my eyes checked and getting new glasses. Each time I was treated with kindness, professionalism and care. This was probably the better of the two but only by a little. It also helps that they have great safety precautions in our new normal. Thank you American Vision. Julia is my favorite!!!

I needed an examination for contacts and glasses. The visit felt very thorough as I was tested with the contacts in my eyes as well. I thought the RX was correct and the contacts felt good but after the doctor checked me again he quickly realized it was too strong and my eyes were refocusing quite a bit. I am very thankful he took the time to properly fit me and check again twice as I was in the wrong prescription for two years and never knew. Glasses and contacts arrive to the store quickly and that is always helpful. I will continue to visit American Vision.

Ive been coming to American Vision for years. They are helpful, friendly, and Professional. Last week, I got refitted for new contact lenses and glasses. The doctor was excellent, and the other employees helped me pick out frames that would suit my face and needs.
I speak to nice Russian woman to make schedule doctor’s visit and can see same day for insurance vision service plan. My English notgood but people’s working is a very nice, mr Chen vision doctor very skilled and thorough , Eyewear selection assist by ms Julia and stephenie. Very nice experiences will say to family and friend very much reccomend.

I went to the this store to get my first pair of eyeglasses because “Father Time” is catching up with me. I was apprehensive and nervous about what to expect???? The store was busy and the lady at the counter was very friendly and said that it would be just a few minutes before they could get to me. After 5 minutes “Julia” the store employee called me up to the counter and she was very friendly and put my mind at ease. Everything went smoothly and she wasn’t pushing me to buy anything. This optical should have all 5 stars. From setting an appointment to the actual visit was a pleasure. The gentleman that took my appointment was extremely friendly. And when I went in today for my eye exam they all treated me like family. No matter what type of insurance you have they will treat you equal,which doesnt happen very often. Check them out.

They have a wide variety of eye glasses and sunglasses to choose from including designer brands. They’re located half a block from the Bayside LIRR and plenty of street parking. Have been going there for years. Its like a family reunion each time I come in. They are extremely professional, workmanship exceptional, and bend over backwards to satisfy the customer. As a person who went to Optician School in Brooklyn, after a graduating college, but never practiced, I know quality of service and workmanship, this is why Im a long time customer of American Vision.

They told me a different price when I came in asking for the eye exam/contact exam. And after I finished this price changed and because of the fact that I’m not gonna order the contacts through them, they even increased the price more.On other hand the Dr. Was not pleasant, he didn’t even introduce himself. And when I tried to tell him that I have problems driving at night he don’t even want to listen and he don’t wanna answer, he just wanna get through the machine test and finish.On The contact lenses trail he held the contacts with his hands and then he gave it to me and want me to put it in My eye right away. He was surprised when I refused because I don’t want any eye infection. So unprofessional.This place not recommend at all.

I was lucky enough today to find this amazing place..I had real good eye doctors before but they all retired....I have passed this place before many times walking down Bell Blvd.This happened on a Saturday I walked in without an appointment and was greeted and assisted by an awesome girl Julia...She was kind and had lots of patience helping me to find my new pair of glasses,even after I asked many questions she had a great attitude,,Excellent first impression,But then it got even better seeing Dr,Mcdonald,she too was so awesome in many ways, her caring attitude, the way she spoke, explaining everything she was doing step by step...Dr. Mcdonald was very thourough,took her time and made me feel at ease.I will recommend her and this place to everyone I know. I have to admit some eye doctors are very cold and robotic like your just another number or patient going through their office...I was so happy to have come here...The owner Sherry did not try to sell me expensive pairs of glasses or try to push extra items for me to buy as most places do....Sherry and Julia had the final say to which glasses I bought since I couldnt decide for the last 3 choices.The only bad thing I have to say is that it kinda sucks that I will be going back here just twice a year!!!
Brought two pair of glasses in late November. I am having trouble with the progressive lenses. The technician said he could not do anything for me. When I asked for the manager he said that he was the manager. After being put on hold l finally got the name of the owner and was advised to bring in the pair for a minor adjustment. Will post outcome.Returned to the store. The owner said it was too late to change the lenses. He gave me another pair of glasses, free of charge, for when I am using the computer and have to read material at a distance. I was not able to choose the frame. The prescription is strong and the frames are bulky. He kept asking if I would change the review. The manager did not apologize. Lenses are not ninety days past purchase date (84 days). Never again will I go to this store.
First time at American vision and the staff was extremely nice and informative. The eye exam was quick and efficient. They had lots of affordable frames to choose from.

Sketchy business practices. I needed a pair of emergency contact lenses -- a brand that has been working for me for the past 5 years. They hawk a trial pair brand at me, and I decided to give it a try for THE WEEK, but I made it pretty clear I was happy with my main brand. When I go to check out of my visit, they were about to place a 1 year worths order of the trial brand contacts and Im like, Why are you ordering it if Im supposed to try this out? Its literally been 5 minutes. Please take that off of my bill. And the front desk person, an older guy, was trying to play it off like, We dont normally do that -- um, really? You buy something you dont know if you like yet *in bulk*? They remove the charge (allegedly). So the week goes by, I receive NO phone call -- which my other eye doctor would do midway through the trial week to save a trip to the office and I can either say, Yes/No about the lenses. Day before my visit I get a text saying they have my order of the trial brand lenses THAT I NEVER CONSENTED TO ORDERING. I go in the next day and tell them, I didnt order these and on top of that, I want a years worth of my main contact brand. The doctor hems and haws and takes it back, and was like, Well I cant order the old lenses because I have to see how they work on your eyes -- completely forgetting Im there because I HAVE NO CONTACTS. She said, We can order a pair to test them out on you because we dont carry it. Wait time? 1-2 weeks. For more BS? No thank you, I left, next day went to Macys LensCrafters and got my exam and contacts ordered same day WITHIN 15 MINUTES. And I was given two pairs of contacts to tide me over by that optometrist because she felt bad that not only did I have to go through the BS with American Vision of Bayside, BUT I also couldnt use my eye exam visit from my insurance since AMERICAN VISION OF BAYSIDE aka DANET OPTICAL already got paid. So I ended up paying twice because of these people.TL;DR: DO NOT GO TO AMERICAN VISION OF BAYSIDE. They will dupe you into paying twice and thrice and LIE to your insurance company saying you ordered contact lenses that you distinctly did not consent to ordering.

Front desk is extremely rude and discourtious. Told me to bring in my 4 year old for an emergency and when my wife shows up he says he didnt speak to anyone. After finally admitting he did speak to me he told me he cant see a 4 year old and to have a nice day while my son couldnt open his eye. Terrible place and stay away!

I paid for co payments that I was not supposed to pay. The employees helped me, knew their job, and showed that they care about the well-being of Susan client testimony. I definitely recommend American Vision of Bayside! 2022-07-11On July 7th I had a pleasant experience and smooth process with the help of Stephanie. She gave me great advice and assisted me on the best options on which lenses and frames suited me. Fastest time I’ve ever received glasses in just 2 days! They fit perfectly, look stylish, and were budget friendly. I selected a thinner version lens for aesthetics and also went ahead with the scratch/glare/smudge resistant lens-totally worth it. This is the happiest I’ve been in a long time with my new lightweight glasses! I definitely recommend Stephanie to all current and new customers as she is very kind, patient, and professional!P.S. This is the first time I’ve ever written a review on Google I just couldn’t pass up on doing it.

2022-07-01If you’re looking for service and nice people do not go here!!! I’ve never been so insulted in my life walked in this morning…. I was coming in to have a pair of my glasses redone, I’ve been coming here for years the woman/girl at the counter was so rude!! I couldn’t even believe it I walked in without a mask, I said I didn’t have one.If you want people to wear masks which I totally understand you should have a box of masks for your customers when they walk in. Shame on you!! I run a business also and we have masks for people to put on if they don’t have them.I just went down the block on Bell Blvd to Eyes on Bell and ordered my new lens and frames $875.00 and they had masks at the entrance and amazing customer service.

2022-01-20The customer service at the store was very impressive. I didn’t feel like they were trying to sell me anything I didn’t need. I did go back to have my glasses adjusted and on each occasion they immediately took care of the issue at no charge. I had gone to other stores who stated that they would not accept my insurance or accepted my insurance but said they didn’t have any frames for my glasses and I would have to pay an up charge. That was not the case here. They had a nice selection of frames that were included with my plan at no additional charge to me. I felt they were very honest, thorough and truly professional.

2022-04-16I don’t generally post online reviews but in these difficult times I believe it’s important to support local businesses that provide good service to the community. I switched to American Vision a couple of years ago and am very happy I did. The eye examinations are easy to schedule and have been thorough. The doctors are courteous and professional. The staff servicing the customers have always been pleasant and helpful. Spiro in particular is a gem. He is patient and meticulous with making the proper adjustment to insure the perfect fit. One of the best at this type of job I’ve ever seen. Overall I am very satisfied with my experience at American Vision. Keep up the good work.

2022-02-17I’ve been going to American Vision of Bayside for only one year, but I’m completely satisfied with my experiences there. Doctor Chan has created a unique prescription for my eyesight and the results were quite an improvement from where I had been. The staff is very friendly and they always have my lenses ready for me on time.I selected this service randomly when my insurance changed & would totally recommend it to anyone who is looking to make a change with their optometrist.

2022-07-18Ive never had a less than great experience here. Every doctor is kind, thorough and explains everything clearly. The awesome staff up front, I cant say enough nice things about them. I despise chosing new frames, they know this, so they get like zero help from me & have to pick out a bunch they think will work. And theyre always so patient and honest and I cant thank them enough!

2022-03-23I regret bringing my son to this place. The eye doctor was friendly to my son. The others, super unhelpful. The girl in the front almost didn’t see us because she wasn’t familiar with our insurance. I had to insist (even though she acted dismissive) so that she would look into it and find out. Then, they try to charge you a ton of money for their “cheapest” pair of glasses. Next, the remaining balance was incorrect after I spoke to the manager when I tried to get a refund and cancel the order (realizing the glasses I purchased wasn’t worth $400). The manager was not friendly at all- very sarcastic on the phone.We just picked up the pair we had to settle for and didn’t even like; and they’re super loose on his face. Completely dissatisfied. 👎🏽👎🏽

2022-03-31First time there cause of new insurance and looking for a deal. Sherri was accommodating friendly and explained the costs. Eye exam went well , found a affordable pair with transition and extra for a great cost. Will be coming back for new frames in the future

2022-04-20My mother had called to get help in making an appointment and as she was sure that her insurance was taken there because of a referral, the women that picked up her phone was rude and insisted she couldn’t find her insurance. She was rude, dismissive and unhelpful. She is quick to hang up the phone once she feels as she can’t help and does not look for another solution. This place needs to train their customer service before they loose all their customers.

2022-03-19New script, new lenses needed. They were professional and easy to deal with. My glasses were ready within a few days. Will definitely go back, the staff are friendly and polite.
