If you are just browsing and unsure if you should give this place a chance. DO! Trust me, youll thank me after!I was on the search for my new MMA home... and I found it at Amerikick Park Slope!First, receptionist is so sweet! She will help you with everything, get you signed up and acclimated!Second, all of the Senseis go out of their way to assure that everyone is comfortable and able to understand what is expected while providing a challenging experience.Every single class is an experience with a new skill or form taught. And I feel every class the next day! Or week!
Amerikick Martial Arts in Park Slope is a fantastic place to get a great workout with well-trained and attentive instructors. My 13-year-old daughter I have been taking kickboxing classes at Amerikick for the past seven months and were addicted! The instructors level of skills are amazing! They inspire the students to work hard, but also to have fun at the same time. The music is always great and the hour of the workout goes by like 15 minutes. I was a gymnast in Russia many years ago and I appreciate the level of high professionalism this school offers. The staff is very warm and friendly and they go out of they way to make everyone feel comfortable and cared for. My daughter and I LOVE it!!!I highly recommend this school to anyone whos interested in a great workout and have fun at the same time. Its a blast!Victoria
Everyone who works there is top notch and we really are so impressed with all of the instructors. We have twin 3 year olds and they are a handful sometimes. This experience has really prepped them for 3K and listening and following instructions. I cant say enough good things about the people who work there!
I have been doing kickboxing for more than three years at Amerikick in Park Slope. Its an amazing workout. The instructors are excellent, each with a different approach. The workout always varies too. I like that the fitness kickboxing class has only women, and that we each are different sizes, shapes, colors and ages. The studio is very committed to making sure that everyone gets the best workout possible. You know that the class is good when you are in a pool of sweat, doing crunches or hitting, and smiling. Its truly addictive. You can see yourself getting stronger too. And this isnt some pansy sport either where you shadow box. You get to hit real bags with real gloves. My daughter joined Amerikick a few months after I joined when she was 8. I signed her up for the summer camp and she fell in love. Now, at 11 years old, she is a brown belt. She is strong and fearless. She is committed to getting her black belt. Shes been to tournaments and has taken home trophies. The studio provides a nurturing environment to get your kid to the next level with prep classes and private sessions if needed.Amerikick is not just a martial arts studio. Its a welcoming environment with caring teachers. Every month there are community activities and extra classes and challenges. This is not just a place I work out. This is a place where I connect with others, have an amazing workout and leave feeling refreshed and empowered.
My daughter has been attending classes at Amerikick for over two years. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and patient with kids. I became so inspired by my daughters interest and progress in martial arts that I started taking their adult kickboxing classes and Im really enjoying them.
Amerikick is an excellent karate school! But the real magic here is the staff. They know each and every childs name and take special care to engage with the children. I also like how its not just about karate, but also learning things like self-respect and honesty. I have definitely seen a difference in my son since he started with Amerikick a little less than a year ago. He has better focus and is more confident. He is able to manage small setbacks better and get over things more quickly. I know the school has been a big influence on him. Oh, and did I mention that he *loves* going to class? Yep! Thats pretty important. I give Anerikick dice SRS for being awesome on every level!
6 1/2 years ago my son was in kindergarten and he was being bullied by a kid in his class. At first I thought I would teach him how to box and protect himself, but that wasnt working out well because its very hard to work with your own child. We looked at many different martial arts schools and then we came across Park Slope Amerikick. My son immediately loved the instructors and the other kids who were taking karate there. At the time my daughter was doing ballet, but when she went with us to Amerikick and watched her brother in class she decided to try a class herself. She loved it immediately and gave up ballet. My wife and I then decided to take a class together to lose some weight and get into better shape. The four of us have been going consistently ever since and have no plans of stopping. The instructors (Senseis) who work in the school are amazing at grading the lessons/activities so no matter what your size, shape, or abilities you can have a fun safe workout and learn how to protect yourself at the same time. Amerikick is also a social place where the four of us enjoy going and make new friends in the classes. We wholeheartedly recommend the school to everyone.
I have been an Amerikick kickboxing student for over 4 years and found it to be the most effective way for me to loose and maintain my ideal weight. Fitness Kickboxing has helped me tone muscles, increase endurance, and gain strength which is useful in my occupation. My daughter also attended for 4 years as a karate student. She enjoys learning karate skills while gaining confidence and benefiting from being disciplined. All of the instructors are friendly, knowledgeable, and fun in their individual ways of instructing. I look forward to attending 3-4 days a week. Pain = gain. I am happy with what i have gained.
I have just completed my first week of ladies kickboxing at Amerikick using a intro deal for 4 weeks of unlimited classes. I have left each time totally drained, with the satisfaction that I thoroughly pushed myself. The instructors are really motivating and make what is a very difficult hour a lot of fun. Everyone who works there is very nice, and the environment is not intimidating at all. There is a very welcoming sense of community. If you are looking for a tough, rewarding, full-body workout I would definitely recommend giving kickboxing at Amerikick a try. I really like that instead of merely exercising, I am learning a skill that is empowering and will make my body stronger. I find the prices to be very reasonable, and have made the decision to cancel my membership at Crunch and continue with Amerikick.
Amerikick Park Slope has been a warm and familial experience right from the moment we walked in with our son. Right away my son felt comfortable and truly cared for. My son has grown as a martial artist but also in his confidence. He is no longer the shy but the child that can be expected to make another kid feel welcome and I attribute that to Amerikicks teachings. They not only teach martial arts, but physical and mental health. I cannot say enough great things about this school!
We won a raffle for a free month of Karate at Amerikick Park Slope and we couldnt have been luckier. We were treated to a one on one session that really put my daughter at ease. All the Senseis are amazing and even though the classes can be large they know each kid by name and take personal time with each student. My 6 year old daughter loves going and is learning so much and making great friends. We will be with them for a long time to come.
Amerikick has been such a great experience for my 10 yr old son. We did the 6 week boot camp and within the first week he was already doing chores and being more obedient. Thus program not only helps children to learn martial arts but also installs discipline in a fun nurturing way that kids want to on their own.We defiantly recommend this program.
Amerikick is amazing!!!! About 3 years ago I started going to the Womens Kickboxing Fitness classes at Amerikick and it has changed my life- physically and mentally. The teachers here are incredibly talented and encouraging. I come a few times a week and it NEVER gets boring or routine - all the classes (and teachers) are unique and fun in their own way. The instructors make personal connections with each student. They really encourage you to challenge yourself, which enables you to make positive changes into your everyday life. I look forward to going to class every week. Every time I leave I feel a million times better than when I walked in. At Amerikick youll find a true sense of community and family that you wont find anywhere else. I LOVE AMERIKICK! :)
I have never really been the type of person do to the fitness thing, but there was a deal on Groupon and decided to take advantage of it. I never imagined how much I would love the Kickboxing classes as well as all the instructors. Everyone there is super friendly and very helpful, trust me as someone who had no idea what she was doing. It was really to sign up and affordable, plus the times for the classes are very convenient. I would recommend this Amerikick Martial Arts in Park Slope to anyone and everyone; I do it to keep fit and not to lose weight, though that does happen, but it makes you feel good about yourself and we all need that. Thank you Amerikick.
Before I begin, let me start off by saying that anything I say in this review is a complete understatement.I am super grateful to have found Amerikick. I attend the ladies kickboxing classes and every single class is different and challenging. The instructors there are amazing, fun, and genuine each having their own teaching styles. Every single class that I attend you can just see and feel their passion to teach you, to train you, and to push you to be in the best shape of your life. The environment there is very welcoming and family oriented. It truly is a home away from home. Only thing is that in this home there is no slacking or laying around, you must be ready to train hard and feel great!
Amerikick is a phenomenal family of like-minded fitness and karate professionals! Both my son and I regularly attend classes there for youth karate and adult kickboxing. The staff and senseis are there for the group as well as the individual. I highly recommend joining but take a trial class and see for yourself!
My daughter loves her Sunday morning karate class at Amerikick. At four years old she has a lot of energy, and her class helps her direct that energy in a productive, fun way. Shes also learning a lot about discipline and self-control. Its a fantastic environment. I only wish we could go more often.
My son has been coming here for about five months I love it it’s a very welcoming environment.Ms.A is the first face you see when you enter and leave she makes every one feel welcomed she’s great with the kids and attentive everyones needs and/or concerns. It’s definitely a down-to-earth place.I love that sensei Nikolay has so much patience with my son who has ADHD and can be a handful at times. With sensei’s help my son is learning to have Discipline conference patients and structure but most of all how to defend himself and when to walk away from bullies.they are not over priced at all less then other competitors I have contacted. And as far as following CDC guidelines Ms.A doesn’t play she always make sure that the environment is immaculate , has everyone checks their temperature and sanitize their hands and wear mask. I promise you won’t regret signing up
July 2016:We have now been with Amerikick Park Slope for 3 1/2 years. We still love it and highly recommend it to all! Now all three of my kids are involved: my son, 8; my daughter, 10; my son, 3. They all love it and have found a wonderful supportive community besides learning great skills and focus. My two oldest take almost every class they can - basic skills, sparring, acrobatics, tricks and weapons. There is such a range of things to learn and practice. My youngest just has a great time when he goes to the 3-4 year old class. But what makes this program so special is the senseis - young or old - all care so deeply about the kids and families and are awesome role models. They are dedicated, motivated, and on a quest to be the best. My kids are in great physical shape. They are focused and disciplined in school and at home. They have learned great habits of mind from practicing karate.July 2014:Amerikick Park Slope is a wonderful program. My son, who just turned six, has been taking classes there for about 1 1/2 years. He loves it and we love it. It is a warm friendly environment where young people are supported to do their very best. The teachers are all wonderful. It is very clear they love working with kids (and adults). I am amazed at how much more focused and confident my son is - not to mention how much stronger. This summer he wouldnt consider going to camp any where else. I highly recommend this program and wish that every young person had a chance to try it.
My grandson Tyler loves Amerikick, he said, The Senseis are like family. Ms. Ada is the best, from the time you enter the building she makes you feel welcomed. Amerikick not only teaches self defense, it motivates the children and makes them feel good about themselves while encouraging them to break bad habits. Im really happy that we selected Amerikick for Tylers martial arts experience.
Amerikick teaches discipline, focus, stamina, self-control, respect, and many more good traits to have in life. I have trained at and enjoyed Amerikick Park Slope for 6 years and am looking forward to many more years of Karate. I am on the Amerikick Park Slope Demo Team which has always helped and supported me, and I am also part of the Leadership Team which helps teach younger and less advanced students. Sensei Alex is an inspiring martial artist. All of Amerikick works as one big family to support and encourage each other.
What makes AmeriKick special is how nurturing they are for young children. The student-teacher ratio is great and they have the patience for and adapt to kids of all skill levels and interest. We first started with Amerikick Summer camp just as a way for my children to channel their energy and focus. Over the past year, my children have exceeded our expectation. In additions they have developed better flexibility and acrobatic skills. Our childrens favorite part of Amerikick is their special demonstration and competition teams. These are programs for high performing children who can participate to learn a whole other level of commitment and comradery of being a team.
Amerikick is hands down the best!!! It’s an amazing place where my daughter has grown and thrived! She has been going for 2 years. She has made tremendous progress, not only in karate but is more focus at school and home. My daughter looks forward to going to each lesson.Sensei Ricky and Sensei Niko show tons of enthusiasm and dedication. They are super positive, caring and serious about building the students skill & confidence. Sensi Ricky is also hilarious and makes the classes really fun for the kids. Ms. Ada is always smiling, ready to help and greets everyone like family. We love Amerikick and you will too. Give them a try!
My son loves going to his classes every week . He has become stronger and more flexible. He also enjoys all the parent night out activities. The staff is great and is always ready to answer any questions . Overall Amerikick has really helped in growing my sons confidence and karate talent . Thank You!
Amerikick is the epitome of a family that is invested in everyone succeding and becoming their best true selves. Ive had the privilege of observing the karate and muay thai kickboxing classes for kids and without hesitation it is the best environment for your child/children. All of the senseis give 150% of their effort, time, and commitment to teaching the kids self- worth, self- discipline, self-control, respect for themselves and others but with hardcore training to gain strength, power, and the skills necessary to defend themselves if need be. My daughter works her butt off because she loves going to class and is ready to commit to whatever training is required to achieve her black belt status and someday becoming a sensei.Thank you Amerikick for keeping kids excited and interested in coming to your studio. The best staff you could ever ask for is located at 529 5th Avenue and no I am not a paid spokesperson just a really grateful and happy mom.Thank you all. 💪🤗😊
Ive been at Amerikick for about 4 years now. I love it! Its more than a place to work out, its like having another family. Everyone there is so inviting and friendly. The instructors are wonderful with not only the children but the adults too. I take womens only kickboxing. The ladies in class are wonderful. There are 4 different instructors and they are all totally different in their work outs. The one thing they have in common is they all work you hard! If you are looking for a challenging yet fun work out do the month trial special. You will be hooked after a week! See you there :-)
Since joining in April of this year, my experience has been nothing, but phenomenal. My son currently take karate (Tigers) and loves every single time they teach them a new routine; I love how the Sensis really gravitate to each childs skill level and encourages them to be the best they can be. I love the monthly check-ups that Ms. Cherly-Ann does, it just goes to show you how caring everyone at the facility is and making sure that all your concerns are duly noted when it comes to your child. I take kickboxing and I can honestly say they want you to workout to feel good. Its really encouraging to have people push you to accomplish your best and not even think twice that your working out because Ms. Carrie and Ms. Ada make it so much fun for everyone. Its a welcoming environment and I recommend everyone to come out and check out a class for your kids and if not your kids, then yourself.
When I initially enrolled myself and my daughter in kickboxing classes at Amerikick, I observed how other members and staff interacted with one another and there was something warm about it. This was appealing to me but I thought that it was because members had attended the school for years and that it took time to develop those relationships. I soon found out this was not so. My daughter and I have only been members for three months but have only attended consistently for a little more than a month due to a death in the family but we have been embraced by staff and other members of Amerikick as though we are members of a family. I went to the school looking for a way to work through frustration while getting into shape and learning self defense. I wanted my daughter to learn self defense as well. I had no idea that my daughter and I would get so much more than I was hoping to find. Not only are we being taught self defense by instructors who are knowledgeable in their craft, but we have been welcomed since the first day we stepped into Amerikick and adopted into a family. We love it here!
Where do I being, There are so many amazing things to say about Amerikick park slope. The Instructors are wonderful. The atmosphere there is very warm loving and we feel like we belong to a family. There Birthday parties are amazing! our two children call it there second home. I myself started Kickboxing classes, all I can say its amazing, it has helped me with my back problems ever since I started a few months ago. Ms Ada and Sensei Phoebe are amazing to our children and like a second mom to our children they are truly wonderful. Ms Cherylann is a wonderful women when you need to talk to someone she will listen and give great inspiration just like all the Senseis. Thank you for everything you have done Amerikick park slope for our children and all the children that attend the school. Osu!
Amerikick Park Slope has a great atmosphere. The students are very motivated in all of the classes given there and the instructors are very good at assisting students when they are in need of help during classes. They give very clear instructions and have a great spirit which keeps me coming back for more ! The studio is also kept in very clean condition and is a very safe anti-bullying zone. I absolutely love it here !!
Muay Thai at Amerikick has transformed my son from being a bullied kid to someone that stands up for himself and fights back rather than give in and cry. I love the words of wisdom that they give at the end of each lesson. I love this place so much and have enrolled all 3 of my kids in the program. Amerikick is our second home!!!
I had no idea what to expect when I scheduled, (through their website,) the initial private lesson for my 11 year old son at Amerikick. I discovered them thru a Google search, upon the recommendation of my son’s social worker to enroll him in martial arts.I received email confirmation and reminders for the appointment, as well as a personal phone call, which gave me the feeling that this place is extremely professional.Walking in for the first time, my son and I were greeted BY NAME.My son was introduced to Muay Thai Kickboxing and he was completely intrigued and pumped to join the class! So we signed up, he put on a uniform, (T-shirt, shorts, belt, hand wraps and boxing gloves) and he participated in his first group class.Honestly, I was a bit terrified when I committed to bring my son to class 2-4 times a week, wondering how it would actually be possible for us, given that I have 3 other young children. It took about two weeks till we figured it out and now we all look forward to taking him to class (3-4 times a week) to watch him EXCEL.What strikes me most is the extreme attention to detail in Amerikick: Class always starts on time. There are always multiple senseis on the mat keeping an eye on ALL the students. Everyone is addressed by their name. Hard work and skills are rewarded regularly with stripes, so the students are always feeling proud and strong, all while they work so very hard! Most importantly, I appreciate the value placed on being a good person who has respectful and kind interactions with his fellow students, friends and family. It’s really been wonderful watching my son grow into a stronger, more confident, happier and less agitated young man.Staying committed is hard work, but at Amerikick they give each student (and their family) the confidence and encouragement to keep you coming.I am so grateful to Sensei Alex, Sensei Niko, Sensei Ricky, Ms Ada, Sensei Phoebe and Mrs. Cherylann for their wonderful school and the amazing Muay Thai program.Oh, and my son loves it so much that he influenced 2 of his friends to join as well and they love it too!!
Im so impressed with Sensei Alexs program. I remember visiting them very often in previous summers when I was an assistant director for a summer camp. The kids always loved the energy and their supportive guidance. Great role model and leader, always helping people grow. He even inspired me to start my own business, and I finally did it. It took 10 years, but seeing Alex create his dream as a young guy with integrity and passion planted a seed that I can do it too. Thanks for everything you do for your kids and community. Youre one of a kind.
I was skeptical about joining Amerikick because Im a little shy and not so athletic but they had a great promotion that I took advantage of using. My first class was fun, but I couldnt finish the whole one hour session. The staff was very supportive, understanding and positive were I was motivated and able to complete the one hour class in my second session. I look forward to stay committed to my physical goals with the wonderful staff at Amerikick here in park slope.
My son has been attending Amerikick since early November. He had taken the trial lesson when he was 3 years old in 2012, but at that time I was unable to follow through with the commitment needed to participate. He was recently diagnosed with ADHD. So I did some research on natural ways to help him stay focused and be disciplined and KARATE came up. The time was right and I knew I had to invest in my sons future and life. So since hes been attending, his focus has improved and hes getting better with being still in school. Hes still a work in progress, but Amerikick was a big help in getting the ball rolling. He loves all of the Sensei especially Leticia and Ricky. They have worked with me and have asked for weekly reports concerning my sons behavior at school and home. Their interest and concern in my son outside of Karate Class is why I know I made the right choice.
The first day I walked into Amerikick Ive never imagined that it would be my home for the next eight years. I just figured that this was my karate phase, but after my first class seeing all the students, and the instructors excited to teach, I knew that I wanted to stay. When I was younger I had trouble paying attention and I couldnt control myself. Being at Amerikick helped me pay attention in class and in school and it also helped me control myself. Amerikick has also helped me gained confidence, learn new tricks and be a better person overall. I also met some amazing people on the journey. There were times where I felt like quitting but my instructors were always motivated to keep their students, and I could see the love they had for the sport and that made me want to stay. Without Amerikick I dont know who I would be today.
Amerikick has something for the entire family! My son not only loves attending the classes, but he also enjoys the Kids Night Out and other extra fun events they hold for them. And to inspire the parents to get involved (and get in shape) they offer free classes for moms and dads. And if all that they offer is not enough, the staffs friendly fun energy will keep you coming back! An awesome Dojo to be a part of for our family!
We are in love with Amerikick. Originally, we took our 4 year old son to Amerikick so that he could work on his coordination and enjoy a physical activity. What we didnt know, was that the training at Amerikick extends so far beyond the Studio. Its really been a dream come true. Our son has had lessons in honesty, respect, confidence, and integrity. He has been challenged by the Sensei to form positive routines in his life, be a good student, and be helpful in the house. He has been invited to be a part of a community, with a summer bbq, an amusement park trip, and charity events. Through Amerikick, which we honestly thought would be a just a weekend sport, my son is becoming an amazing little man. We couldnt be more thrilled.
Amerikick Martial Arts at Park Slope Rocks! The instructors are super dedicated to the success of each child. My son started at Amerikick at the age of 3 years old with lots of energy and no real place to expel this energy. As a new parent I had no idea of how to direct all this energy so I found Amerikick though an internet search; I had no idea how this would shape my sons life. I honestly thought it would be a way for him to run around and burn some energy but at 9 years old he is now disciplined, focused, and has an amazing self esteem. The instructors make the school the best place in Park Slope because they care about the success of each child. It is also a pleasure to walk into a Marital Arts school and have the instructors make each person feel like family. The school is so fantastic I am now a student (kickboxing Program). I must say it will whip you into shape.I highly recommend this school to children and adults of all ages. Amerkick thank you for making us apart of the Amerikick family.
Our 7-year-old son has been going to Amerikick since he started Kindergarten and loves it. The sensei(s) are amazing and are great role models for the kids. The competitions are really fun, and it keeps our son super engaged. They really foster a community, including events outside regular classes. Highly recommended.
Amerikick Park Slope is a gem and I feel incredibly grateful to have found this spot. The kickboxing instructors are each amazing in their own ways, always developing new techniques that are both intense and fun. They offer new fitness endeavors regularly, which keeps things interesting and challenging. From letting loose on the boxing bags to dominating the 500-crunch-per-class challenge, youre constantly improving your techniques, sweating out your aggression and loving every second of it.Everyone is friendly and welcoming, and, even when classes are full, instructors always take the time to give personal attention and help. Its a judgment-free environment with a great community/family atmosphere that extends to a variety of events outside of the gym itself — such as barbecues and trips to water parks.Overall, simply awesome.
I absolutely love Amerikick and their staff. Ive known them for about 7 years. 3 of those 7 Ive been kick boxing. Im currently doing the 6 week shred program amazing results.I love Kick boxing you lose weight, tone and strengthen while learning how to defend yourself. I would highly recommend this place. Its definitely a life changing experience I plan on continuing after the 6 weeks.
Amerikick Park Slope is my second home... My son is enrolled in the karate program and I enjoy the Fitness KickBoxing sessions! We have developed great friendships with the Amerikick families and have shared some really fun times together! The staff are wonderful and caring with the karate students...and the level of skill and professionalism is bar none. The program coordinator Ada has a way of welcoming families and making everyone feel at home. Sensei Alex cares about each and every student at his dojo. He has created an environment of discipline, self respect, and working hard towards your goals. Sensei Ricky is one of many talented instructors, he is well regarded by many.Check out Amerikick Park Slope. This is the place to be!
This is the best place in NYC to get fit, gain confidence and be around some awesome people. The adult and kids Muay Thai classes are amazing. Myself and my 10 and 13 year old kids all attend Muay Thai classes here. Miss Ada, Sensei Nico and Sensei Adonis are all amazing and so knowledgeable and care about each and every student. This place is just wonderful.
The entire staff is simply amazing! They are well organized, have many programs and initiatives to include not only their students but the entire family in. I couldnt have asked for such wonderful role models to my son. The Senseis are very approachables and willing to work with your child and whatever needs and challenges your child might have. I love the system they have implemented to develop good character traits that goes along to what I teach at home (so my son knows that it is not only mom who pushes him to be the best he can be, therefore, validates what I teach at home in terms of principles, values, pro-social skills, among others). Their dedication and patience it is very much appreciated! ( PS: they also visit their students schools so their impact is also with the entire community.... I cant wait for them to visit my sons school this year!)
The womens kickboxing class is great! I was hooked after my first week and have been going for the last six months. Its a solid workout and you get to learn some great kickboxing form. Its an empowering space and the other women are kind and fierce. The instructors are really good, work you hard, and treat you like family. I highly recommend these classes - youll be hooked in no time!
I have always been wanting to try Muay Thai and i found Amerikick. I am so thrilled that I did. I comletely fell in love with this martial art because of the amazing , dedicated and knowledgable senseis Alex, Niko and Matt. This gym makes you feel extremely welcome, staff members and senseis keep reaching out to find out your opinion about the classes and about individual progress .on top of the warm support- Workouts, techniques and mental empowerment I received after every single class really started making an impact in my life.If anyone is looking for a place where they could not only get an excellent workout but also wants to learn the right technique and real philosophy behind it- Amerikick could be the place you have been looking for.Thank you for everything Amerikick family!
I have three girls of which two of them (8yrs old and 4yrs old) are attending this dojo. Three months in and my girls are comfortable with all the Senseis, have developed better social and communication skills, and best of all theyre comfortable with themselves all while having fun and learning self defense. This place and the people who works there all have good vibes and are very friendly. They follow all of the CDC rules and regulations and when adults and students alike arent adhering to the rules, ALL of the Senseis makes sure to reinforce it. Every thing is super clean and sanitized. Mandatory temperature check for all when you arrive and you must sanitize your hands as well which the dojo provides. Definitely need to check them out. Your kids will love it.
Amerikick Park Slope is absolutely wonderful! I found this place about 3 years ago and Ive been addicted to it ever since. In the time that Ive been a kickboxing student here, I have become stronger and more self confident. I feel like I work out my mind and my body when I take a class here. Its more than fitness, its self defense, learning, and confidence building. I cant ever say it enough that coming here has changed my life. Amerikick Park Slope is like a supportive family that steers you towards making positive decisions and bettering yourself.
My 10 year old has been taking Karate here since he was 5 and loves it. The experience at Amerikick is truly like becoming part of an extended family. It goes way beyond simply learning martial arts - they focus on the whole child both inside and outside of the Dojo. They expect a lot from the higher belt levels- but they give the kids the tools to step up and exceed expectations. The staff and all the Senseis are wonderful role models. Sensei Alex is an accomplished martial artist and a great motivator. And kudos on the new renovations as well!
My 5-year-old son has been going to Amerikick for the last 9 months and he really enjoys it. The teachers / senseis are excellent - you can tell they really enjoy working with children and I think they strike just the right balance between formality and fun. At first I found it strange how they play music on and off throughout the class, such as when the kids are running, or taking turns punching or kicking the pads, (and it is turned down when they are receiving instruction, such as when sensei is teaching a sequence) but my son seems to really love the noise and the energy. He is always excited to go to class, and very proud of himself when he receives a stripe on his belt, or graduates to a new belt level.
Best Karate school. The instructors are incredible, they are very good with children and truly care about them. It has a family feel that is very welcoming to both new and existing students. They work to develop the students physically, mentally and spiritually. I highly recommend this school for anyone looking for a karate school.
My two daughters (4-year old and 9-year old) have been attending Amerikick Martial Arts Park Slope for several years now and really enjoy it. The vibe at the Park Slope school is always great and everyone who works there is always positive and are always making sure to greet you while you are there.Great school for the kids. Thank you Amerikick
My almost 6-year old son has tried baseball, soccer, music -- everything -- and we have finally found something he loves! I wasnt sure if he would stick with a 2x a week schedule, but hes so excited each time. The instructors are warm and caring, but also teach kids the value of focus and discipline. The instructors are also great about providing small goals and rewards (like stripes on their belts) most classes that make kids feel motivated and proud of themselves. My son says he wont stop till hes a black belt!
My daughter loves training at Amerikick Park Slope. The instructors are patient, yet energetic. They are skilled and they are enthusiastic. Really great. A wonderful kids program. My ONE complaint - and its a real complaint - is the hard sell. The kids are pushed frequently to bring friends in for rewards (if they bring in five friends they get an Ipad2, one friend in gets a green stripe on a kids belt). This troubles me because it exploits the desire of kids to get rewards for marketing and blurs the line between business and martial arts training. I was told if I wrote a good review for Amerikick that my daughter would get a green stripe on her belt. Absolutely inappropriate. Her training is about her training and thats it. My daughter got a card addressed to her regarding having a birthday party for her at the dojo. She thought she was being invited to a party there. My daughter is 7. I DO recommend the Amerikick kids program because the instructors are so good. But I have a rather significant problem with the marketing. Parents, help your child to navigate the hard sell. Amerikick marketers, please pull it back. Your hard sell is compromising what otherwise is an excellent program.
Ive been to every type of gym in the world and nothing compares to fitness kickboxing at Amerikick. Under the guidance of Ms. Carrie and Ms. Ada, Ive gone from someone who was sort of in shape to someone who is really and truly fit. And, the best part of working out at Amerikick goes beyond how great I feel in my body. Every class at Amerikick lifts my spirits and makes me smile (even while Im huffing and puffing). Training with Ms. Carrie, Ms. Ada and the other amazing women in our classes has gotten me through a tough year filled with many challenges. No matter what else is happening, kickboxing makes me feel strong, healthy and supported. I feel truly grateful to have found this special place.
All 3 of my kids go to Amerikick (ages 14, 10 and 6), and have attended for the past 6 years. My 2 oldest have learned leadership by assisting in classes for lower belts and taking classes in leadership. They have both earned the rank of Sempai which is a red (or junior black) belt. This has been especially important for my older son who has ADHD and Aspergers and team sports are difficult for him. Through martial arts at Amerikick, he has learned to do his individual best, and he works out with a group of students that he calls his friends. He stays in shape with the workouts and his focus has improved 100%. My daughter has confidence in herself - she set a goal and worked hard to earn her red belt, and though she had help from the senseis at the school to prepare, she feels confident because she is the one who earned it. And my youngest is 6 and loves that the class keeps him active and goal oriented. I recommend this school to anyone who is looking for something to keep their kids active, teach respect, self confidence and self reliance, and to work with long term as well as short term goals.
I am in love with this place and the people that works here! After thinking about it for quite some time and looking into a lot of martial arts schools in the area, I decided to sign up my oldest son for Karate classes in this location. Now I can say it was the best decision Ive made in a very long time, my son loves his class and not only him but my youngest decided to try it too and now they are both more than happy with their instructors. They know very well how to deal with kids and the lessons are so much fun for both kids and parents. This place is amazing, I sign up myself for KB classes and this is the only work out that I am looking forward to do every single day. Cant get enough of it...and the instructors.... Oh la la!You dont know what is like to get your ass kicked and love every single second of it until youve tried a rise class with Ms. Carrie or a KB class with Ms. Ada.
I’ve been going to Amerikick for about 6 months now and it is my favorite part of the week. The workouts are challenging, my body is in shape like never before and it’s fun! I did the 6 week challenge with great success, and that success was brought on by hard work, dedicated Sensei/Coaches who took your progress seriously, and peers that always offered encouragement. Sign up, you won’t regret it
When I decided to start doing mixed martial arts as an adult, I knew I wanted to gain strength, but I wasnt sure whether to take karate or kick boxing. As soon as I walked into Amerikick, the welcoming staff and instructors asked me questions and gave me information to help me make an informed decision. Attempting karate for the first time was initially embarrassing (especially because everyone else in class was a higher belt); but Sensei Ricky empowered and encouraged me with his words of wisdom (we all have to start somewhere, a black belt is a white belt who never gave up, etc.), and helped me feel more comfortable in front of an audience. In addition to the personable, professional, and knowledgeable staff, the class size at Amerikick is just right: large enough for partnering up and learning from/with each other, and small enough for individualized attention. This is the perfect place to begin and continue pushing yourself to higher limits.
Ada is an amazing Kickboxing instructor. She is patient and motivating and will work with you at any level. The kickboxing equipment is top notch, we use the foam floor standing bags which dont hurt the hands and joints. There are also foam floors. The gym is clean , bright and open. It is great to have a kickboxing class for women only because it is less of an atmosphere of a mens boxing ring.Very enjoyable
I would like to share my review on AMERIKICK Park Slope in two parts, the Womens Kickboxing and Children’s Karate Class:Joining the Women’s Kickboxing has been a wonderful experience for me especially since I DO NOT like the typical gym setting. I have been going for over a year and to date each class has been conducted in a different facet and each is more thrilling and invigorating than the last. The instructors, Sensei’s and staff are an absolutely qualified, wonderful and supportive group who know you by name and tend to you one on one when needed and continuously motivate me to try harder and improve my skills. Its also a metal stimulant as was as a physical one, so you get an overall 200% out of each class. As for the social aspect its like one big family which everyone including your classmates are there for you.My son who is Autistic joined Amerikick’s Karate class. The Karate classes have done wonders for him as a growing child with special challenges and needs. Since day one the entire staff has provided him with such a support system it is truly a blessing to him and my family the dedication and support from EACH member of the Amerikick Park Slope team. Karate has helped him physically and mentally. His skills are continuously improving and he is extremely proud to be earning a Purple Belt this month. His therapists and teachers in school have commended the efforts and benefits that Karate and his instructors have given him in his development. As he is learning the fundamentals of Karate he is also learning the importance of respect, values, dedication and being part of a team. These are values that all children should learn but it’s wonderful that there is also a place like Amerikick Park Slope which helps support, build and reinforce these values that we try to instill in our children.I am glad and fortunate that we found Amerikick Park Slope and I thank them for all they do and continue to do for me, my son and all the children and families that are fortunate enough to experience their tremendous dedication to each person that walks thru their doors.THANK YOU AMERIKICK PARK SLOPE!!!! Angie & Sebastian
Since my son started karate he has not only gained confidence and dedication but hes gained a family. I began a kickboxing trial shortly after and I, too, have gained a family. Not only that but after just 2 months of kickboxing I feel more in shape than I have in a decade. I love it here.
I cant say enough about Amerikick Park Slope and the staff. Our son, now 6, has been taking karate there for the past 3 years. There have been so many positive changes in him regarding focus, discipline, and self esteem. The senseis do an amazing job of knowing how to work with each kid individually and learning their personalities. One of the most effective threats in our home is Do I need to call Sensei and let him know that you are not listening? LOL. It has become a critical part of our routine for the past three years that we look forward to continuing.
Muay Thai kickboxing is a class that is guaranteed to get u in shape. I love the class because it pushes me beyond my limit!!! Not to mention the family atmosphere and the fact that every one there including the sensei are there to help you reach your goal no matter what level you are at. My workout used to consist of just going to the gym and doing cardio and weight training but since adding Amerikick Muay Thai Kickboxing to my workout regimen, My body is becoming more flexible, stronger and toned. If ur looking for a great workout join Amerikick u won’t regret it.
I was shortsighted about Amerikick. I thought that its classes would simply ‘check the sports box’ for my 6-year old. He wanted something fun and to make friends. I wanted him to learn focus, work on his balance and get exercise. Who would’ve thought Amerikick’s special program would also encourage him to complete homework, pick up toys without asking, and be kinder to his little brother! Thanks to Amerikick’s classes and take-home challenges, my son has grown into a more attentive, motivated and thoughtful little boy. And yes, his balance is so much better too. :) Thank you, Amerikick!
Ive been taking Kickboxing classes at Amerikick Park Slope for over 2 yrs now. Before I started coming here, I couldnt run two blocks without getting winded. The instructors at Amerikick whipped me into shape and trained me in self-defense so I feel empowered and ready to kick butt (only if I have to...:) ). All of the instructors have their own style and keep things fresh (Miss Ada and Sensei Ricky rock)! Carrie makes me want to cry the next day in the BEST way possible--love her! If youre looking for something to replace your mundane gym routine or just want to try our kickboxing, Amerikick Park Slope is the way to go. If you come here and give it your all, you WILL get results!
I started out at Amerikick for a free week on a bring a buddy deal for ladies kickboxing, and three years later Im still going strong. Amerikick instructors not only move and motivate you but they care about each and everyone one of their students on a personal level. The Kickboxing classes are a killer workout, sometimes gruling but they make it fun and exciting and keeps you coming back for more. Since I ve joined Amerikick in Park Slope I have truly been adopted into an amazing Martial Arts family whom I look forward to seeing each and everytime I walk through the doors. With four different and AMAZING KB instructors Sensei Alex, Sensei Ricky, Crazy Carrie and the awesome Miss Ada you get a different type of workout every time which never gets old or boring. Come try Amerikick Park Slope out today!!! YOU WONT BE SORRY
Our 6 year old son has attended Amerikick Park Slope for two years. Our 3 year old daughter recently joined. The entire staff is amazing. The Senseis are patient with every child and unbelievably positive. Were happy to have found this program and would recommend to all!
As a student of many years of training and dedication, I have recently attained my Black Belt at the age of 59. I have become stronger physically and my growth endurance has affected all aspects of my life. All the instructors are truly top notch world champions and they are creating students along that path. Everyone that steps on the mat becomes empowered although at first they were apprehensive and unsure of themselves as I was. And that is why I would recommend Amerikick Park Slope to all (ages 3 to 101).
Amerikick Park Slope doesnt just provide a great workout, it provides a healthy lifestyle. Between the talented and passionate instructors and the friendly students, the Park Slope location is one big sweaty and happy family. I have been attending weekly for the last year, which I can say is the longest I have stuck with any gym or class membership before. There is not a single dull moment. The classes are for all levels and you become stronger mentally and physically every day. Its not about being the best, its about being better than the person you were yesterday.
My daughter was diagnosed with ASD and Anxiety, so we were looking for a just right program to help her with her socialization and coping with her anxiety. Amerikick is that program! It is a friendly community that encourages and teaches kids to work as a team. They greet you by name, your not just a number to them. And they truly take an interest in their students. When my daughter shared with her Sensei about how she has been inflicting self hurt to deal with her anxiety,(they noticed the scars on her hand) they encouraged her to stand up to her bully. She didnt have to physically harm him but she could stand up for herself. She did! She used her words to silence his tauntings and walked into her next Muay Thai class with more pride. 5 stars to Amerikick for caring beyond the dojo and taking a sincere interest in my child and her struggles.
Amerikick Park Slope is a top notch mixed martial arts dojo for kids and adults. My 2 Boys have been going for 5 years and have learned so much that has helped them grow strong mentally, socially and physically. The staff and Senseis are very welcoming and talented. My boys feel safe and comfortable there. Thank you Amerikick Park Slope!!!
Amerikick is a community that has helped our daughter learn to present herself with confidence, develop respect, physical strength, stamina, and spatial awareness. It has become a home away from home where Ms. Ada, Sensei Ricky, Sensei Alex, Sensei Niko, Sensei Dennis, Sensei Phoebe (and Senseis Josh, Jose, Adonis, Gerald, Ajani, and more) are warm and welcoming, always remember everyone’s name, and support young warriors (and families!) to persevere, take risks, and celebrate accomplishments. Our daughter went to her first class on a lark as a guest of her neighbor-friend. The neighbors weren’t able to stay. Our daughter has been there now for the better part of five years. She now takes advanced class, weapons, sparring, acrobatics, hypertrix, Demo Team and Leadership (a class we wish we’d had ourselves growing up!).In her words, “the Senseis at Amerikick are awesome in so many ways. First of all, they are encouraging for everyone. They explain the reasons for everything we do in class. They are friendly, serious, demanding, silly, and playful.” They understand how to interact with students of a range of ages (and personalities) to get them to try their best and apply themselves. The Senseis are generous and firm in their guidance. They also know how and when to joke around with kids in a wide span of ages. The Senseis work hard and play hard too. They make our daughter laugh, sweat, and develop strong values. The Senseis guide students in scaffolded steps to develop skills, compete with confidence, gain stamina, and build a strong ethic of working hard and creating community.Amerikick has a wide range of social events and teams that provide physically engaging fun and ample opportunities to connect socially. These include outdoor barbecue parties, holiday gatherings, costume parties, movies, ninja courses, board breaking events, sleepovers and more. She will never forget cutting her karate cake with a real sword at her 9th birthday party at Amerikick! This is an absolute gem of a Dojo that we couldn’t recommend more highly!
It has been roughly a month since Ive joined the Muay Thai Program at AmeriKick and I am absolutely in love with each session. I love the Sensei and their enthusiasm, their energy, they are self-motivated and they transfer that energy to us (the students). Overall I am an active individual, however, I wanted a workout (or an activity) that would bring more awareness to my body, my confidence, enhance my flexibility, improve my agility, relief stress, improve health, but also one that would give me lessons for life such as self-defense, self-control, quick thinking and reaction. Those I have found at AmeriKick. At AmeriKick, you learn to use your body and you also have fun, and make friends.Attending as little as one week has been so beneficial to me. I usually have problems sleeping at night, but after each session, although it is a workout, I feel rested and relaxed and I have no problem falling asleep. I am more alert, and a quote from one of my Senseis usually carry me throughout the week and I act and apply their life lessons (such as, being in control my emotions is a strength). I apply that, always. I have made new friends and the Senseis are like a family to me now. I usually sit through the children sessions and admire how much fun they are having, I overhear them talking about their self-defense techniques and how much they strive to improve. It is a great atmosphere to be in, not just for adults but for your child/children too.I would definitely recommend Amerikicks Muay Thai program to my friends (and I have). You learn, you have fun, you kickbox your body into the perfect shape, and jab-cross your body into a healthy vessel to use throughout your lifetime. This program is a win-win. If you make mistakes your teammates help you, a sensei will step in to make sure you have the perfect form, they are patient and they understand that true progress is gradual and they encourage you to keep going.Trust me, this is the place to be from Monday - Thursdays! My best friend and I usually create names to correlate with the days, we have MatMondays (Sensei Mat), ToneUp-Tuesdays, Wisdom-Wednesdays, and TurnUp-Thursdays. We keep the energy flowing because that is the environment you walk into. Everyone is ready to hit the mat and have an amazing workout, an amazing lesson, and an amazing way to push our minds and bodies and defend ourselves (mentally and physically). You will love it!Cheers,Magarn S.& In addition to what Ive posted above on Friday.1- Reasons You Should Join: You will develop physical techniques to defend yourself, improve muscle flexibility, get your body in shape, relief stress, to simply have fun, body and mind agility, mind and body control, discipline, improved patience, brain power, etc.2 - Benefits You will receive: Fun personal challenges, renewed mind and body, healthy heart, an Amerikick Family.Reasons You should Join & then recommend it to Your friends: Refer to number 1 and 2, but above all, its the Amerikick atmosphere for growth, discipline, love and fun!
My daughter has been attending Amerikick Park Slope since the age of 4. The values that have been enforced through the curriculum, and the staff have been immeasurable. She has learned that when she focuses in on her goals, and puts for the required effort, she can accomplish anything! Shes now 8, and has just received her brown belt. Advancing to this level, has proven what her Senseis teach regarding, focus, hard work and determination. She is now more determined than ever! The dojo has always been like home to us, and my daughter says she will never go anywhere else, and will continue with karate until she receives her 2nd and 3rd degree black belt! Thank you Senseis, Ms. Ada, CherylAnn, and our Amerikick Park Slope family for your continuous love and support!
I attended my first kickboxing class this weekend, and it was not only a great workout, but also a welcoming environment. A lot of times group exercise classes can be intimidating, but everyone was very friendly and helpful, and it was a nice mix of skill level and experience. Im looking forward to more classes!
My seven-year old granddaughter has been attending this fantastic school for 3 years. The entire staff is like a second family. Each day upon arrival at the dojo the greetings are warm and caring, by everyone. The instructors are professional, respected and loved.Sensei Alex sets the tone in succeeding. The children learn while they have fun graduating through the belt ranks along with the teaching sensitivity used by all the teachers instructing in self-defense. The reinforcement given in the classes of respect, self-control, responsibility, discipline and leadership are amazing. When a child cant wait for the next day of class, there is much to say. She always stays focus when completing her home and school chores in order to get right back to the Dojo.Thank You Sensei Alex and the entire Staff at Park Slope Amerikick.
Our five year old son goes there and he has found a community that is his own that he is so very comfortable with. His first sleep over away from family was at Amerikick and it was a great experience for him and for us. His learning how to better use his body with the movements he had been taught.
My son joined AmeriKick Park Slope at the age of 8. Since joining, he has learned so much, things like respect, commitments, dedication, strength and pushing and working hard to obtain goals. The Senseis have helped him and continue to help him in achieving his goals and also encouraging him to never give up. They have taught him discipline both at the dojo and outside the dojo. Sensei Phoebe, Ms. Ada and Ms. Cherylanne are amazing women who help both the kids and parents. Having a school with a dedicated staff are examples that children pick up on. My son loves attending classes (5 days a week) and misses it on the days hes not there. He is growing into a mature, strong, disciplined young man and I Thank AmeriKick Park Slope for being part of his growth.
When I first started going to Amerikick, I was always shy and i didnt really speak to anyone. I also had much less control over my asthma and I had anger issues. All of that changed however when I continued to train at Amerikick. I started to develop self-control and respect. I gradually started to have less anger issues and by work out, I started to have more control over my asthma. Now that im a first degree black belt I feel like Amerikick has completely changed my life.
AmeriKick kicks butt! Im an adult taking muay thai classes under Sensei Niko. Niko and all of the other senseis are great, and theyre always available to hear you out and help you with your moves. Its not only a great physical workout, but a mental one too. Not only does it teach you self-discipline, but you come to be a part of the AmeriKick family, and that makes me happy, so I should imagine that this is equally great for the kids who are taking karate. Theres also a ladies kickboxing workout for the moms and other ladies alike. Sign up today!
I joined the Kickboxing class back in May and have had such an amazing experience. I admit I was nervous to start because I was pretty out of shape so I sent an email stating my concerns and got back such an empowering email from Cherylann which gave me the courage to walk in where I was greeted with a huge welcome by Ada at the front desk. It just got better from there. Everyone there is very nice and empowering especially my instructors Ada and Carrie who always have time to answer your questions and give you the support you need. Im always inspired to come to class and if I dont show up for a couple of days I always feel missed which inspires me to come even more. It is a community of people who care. I have lost 4 sizes since I started but even more importantly Ive gotten my athletic drive back. It doesnt matter what level you are at, you will improve and feel empowered there. I highly reccomend it!
Karate is my daughters favorite activity, and has been for the last 3 years. The training and discipline she receives here most definitely carries over into other aspects of her life. As a result, she is focused, determined, and always wanting to do her best. She takes on new challenges, and will not give up until she completes them; as she has learned from her Senseis, that a black belt is one that never quit. ( she always tells me she wants to someday become a black belt in karate. ) Shes taken dance, as well as gymnastics, but I find that the overall body conditioning she receives from her karate training is unbeatable.Ms. Ada is always so pleasant and welcoming after our busy day, and each of the Senseis continuously challenge and encourage her onward to the next level. Today I saw her watching one of the Leadership classes, so I can only imagine whats next....Thank you Sensei Alex, and the rest of the Team/Family at Amerikick Park Slope!
Amazing and wonderful team! I began the fitness kickboxing classes to get in shape, and now have been attending for over a year, even after reaching my goals. You feel supported, motivated and inspired by a group of people that become like a family separate to your own. A +++
I originally signed up for three months of womens kickboxing, thinking I could get some cardio exercise in and maybe learn a little self-defense. That was a year and a half ago, and Ive never left! The classes are intense workouts that are always different, which keeps things interesting. There are two different instructors, Ms. Ada and Ms. Carrie, each of whom has her own style of teaching and who complement each other well. Both are very supportive and positive. They appreciate the beauty and strength of women of all shapes and sizes, and encourage you to give all you have to being your best and developing good fighting form. Since Ive been going there Ive seen my confidence increase, because theyve taught me I can do things I never thought Id be able to do. And it never hurts to know how to deliver a good, solid punch! Highly recommended both for fitness and self-defense.
I walked into AmeriKick Karate Studios weak and out of shape in 2011. To be honest, I was 335 pounds and needed to start moving. I was always the one taking care of other people. My children are now adults and it was time to take care of me. Today, 2014, I am stronger physically, emotionally and spiritually. After all, my body is Gods temple and I had abused it. I still do kickboxing but now I take karate and MMA Kickboxing. My Senseis and instructors are inspiring and knows how to work with each person and the limitations. If you are looking for something new and better than what you are used to, come into AmeriKick Park Slope. Start with the Ladies Fitness Kickboxing (for women) or MMA Kickboxing (for men, women welcomed here too). You will see how quickly you grow in strength and agility as you decrease in size.
Amerikick Park Slope has something to offer for anyone. Not only they offer karate for kids, but there are Mixed Martial Arts, kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Karate and Ladies Only Fitness Kickboxing programs for adults. You will not only get your cardio work out done, but youll also learn self defense, meet new people and get in the best shape of your life. The senseis are amazing and they encourage you to reach your best. Everyday youll learn something new and theres always something interesting being taught in classes. You will find skills in you that you never knew even existed. The whole staff is great and they really care about everyone. The school is like a big family and soon youll become a part of it.I highly recommend coming in and trying a class, youll not be disappointed.
I found Amerikick through an Ad on facebook. I have always been fascinated with the art of Muay Thai Kickboxing. I never thought I would get the chance to learn it. I attended classes for about a month through the promotion. By the time I was done, I could not imagine not continuing with my Muay Thai training. As a weight lifter, I wanted to stimulate my body in a different way and gain more flexibility. I have been accomplishing these goals. In addition, .I am learning how to defend myself, I am building confidence and staying fit. I highly recommend this program for anyone looking to improve their lifestyle.
Hi my name is Tariq Anthony been a member of the Muay Thia class for about 2 months now and love it. The sensis are great and hands on. My reasons for join was to get back into shape, rebuild confidence, learn something Ive always wanted to learn, and also have something to teach my kids. I feel great mentionally, physically and stomach finally going down lol. I always recommend the class to others and will continue to do so. I love it. Thanks for everything and I continue to look forward to my Muay Thai journey.
I have nothing but great things to say about my experience here! Starting with Ms. Ada whos always friendly, smiling and interacting with the kids. Sensei Alex, Ricky, Marquez and all other senseis are great with the kids no matter how distracted or out of control they are. My sister and niece take karate classes and they count the days to take the classes, they have a lot of fun and are always talking about their senseis. All in all as soon as you walk in you feel welcome and have a great time whether its taking classes or sitting in the benches watching the kids take their classes.
I absolutely love this karate school. I started in 2005 and fell in love with the people, enviornment and the idea of becoming a black belt. I met amazing friends, and continue to have strong friendships with them. Amerikick has helped me build self confidence, and has changed me into a whole different person. Ive accomplished many things that few people can say they have accomplished. I have performed, and competed all over the states including madison square garden and spain. I truly believe that without Amerikick I wouldnt be where I am. I love this school so much that I practically live there!!! Now as a 1st Degree Black Belt I look back at my years of training, and I can honestly say that I wouldnt change it for the world.
My son has really enjoyed his experience here. All the senseis have been incredibly patient with him - as 3 year old, his attention span is low! Yet, he remains engaged throughout the class and is excited to go 2x a week or more. We will definitely be re-enrolling for another great year!
I love this place!I have been taking kickboxing classes here since the Summer. At one point I was going to kickboxing classes every single morning. The classes are fun affordable and a great work out. You learn techniques and get a great work out. The routines are never boring or repetitive and they are all high energy. Great fun work out! Great place in general!
I joined Amerikick 2 yrs ago and at first I was skeptical of joining because of all ladies kickboxing class. I thought the instructors and participants would be weak and pathetic. Well, to my surprise, the classes are AMAZING and extremely INTENSE. ItS a great workout, working on speed, strength, flexibility, and conditioning. The instructors and Sensei(s) are amazing, talented, motivating, friendly, and warm. AMERIKICK has changed my life! Im 100% transformed physically, emotionally, mentally. Im so much happier, healthier, and motivated. Being an artist and self-employed, theres nothing more difficult than motivating one self day in and day out. AMERIKICK has helped me gain focus, motivation, and balance in my life. Sensei Alex (owner) emails out weekly newsletters to his students - they are motivating, informative, and an important reminder as to why we train, and the benefits of martial arts and daily physical activity. I am TRULY grateful for him and his staff and instructors! Here is a review of each instructor and Sensei and their classes:MS.ADA - director of AMERIKICK,kickboxing instructor. Ive never punch so hard as I do in Ms.Adas classes! lol...my hands shake after her classes! She helps me focus on strength, technique, and proper forms of kickboxing. The students who take her classes are always friendly and fun to be around :) I always feel like a happy family with the fellow kickboxers in her class. Its great, we have so much fun working out together :)SENSEI NIKO - teaches Muay Thai and MMA fighting. Sensei Niko is not only a black belt, but also an MMA fighter - rocking his competitions and fights! :) His fighting skills are amazing to watch and when he teaches, it is really inspiring to take his classes and Im always so eager to learn the next move! lol His classes are intense and definitely not beginners level. He pushes your physical limits and at the same time encourages to practice control over your strength - to learn the skills before blasting your power. Sensei really teaches and practices the heart and spirit of martial arts and again, really inspiring!SENSEI RICKY - black belt in karate/kickboxing/tricks/many more. I REALLY enjoy taking Sensei Rickys classes! For me, his classes incorporates high cardio fitness, real fighting moves, and a whole lot of fun :) His style of teaching is definitely different and again, he pushes you to your limits and very motivating class. ALL of his students love him ... I mean ALL (both adults and children)! Sensei Ricky has the gift of not only being a great martial artist, but also an amazing teacher! His teaching skills motivate and are admired by a lot of his students. He has many fans! lol....and we all love taking his classes and we have so much fun :) Definitely not one to be missed!MS CARRIE - kickboxing instructor/Muay Thai/co-owner of RISE and URBAN JUNGLE program. There are really no words to describe Ms.Carrie, except shes fabulous!! Her classes are super high energy as she sculps you with conditioning, cardio, and strength! I remember when she called her students WARRIORS and the first time I heard that, I remembered the athlete in me and how I need to awaken it :) Carrie is truly motivating and her electric energy inspires you to push harder, faster, and get stronger. She represents fitness and she is so dedicated to her programs and students. RISE is an AMAZING 3 class program (hour each class) back to back. I guess I am one of the insane ones to take all 3 classes. I LOVE IT! She incorporates TRX, fitness drills, various fitness equipments in RISE. She captures the heart of fitness and conditioning, reminding us that both cardio and strength is the key to being an all well-rounded athlete. Her OUTDOOR URBAN JUNGLE classes are usually held in the summer outdoors in Prospect Park mostly using own body weight as resistance and movements using the parks playgrounds, benches, etc. Truly is an amazing experience and perfect for those who love outdoors!SENSEI ALEX - owner/kickboxing/MuayThai/black belt karate/MMA/Tricks. DA MASTER!!!
Outstanding environment for kids. Brought my daughter to try karate out with Sensei Ricky and she fell in love with it immediately. All she talks about is karate. Sensei Alex, Marquez and Ricky are great with kids and excellent instructors. Ms. Ada always makes us feel welcomed and part of an exnded family. Higly recommed any and all to join the Amerkick Park slope family
Everyone is really friendly, especially Miss Ada. I love being greeted by name at a place that feels like part of the neighborhood--that can be hard to find in New York. Ive been taking the women-only kickboxing class for over a year now, and I definitely have more energy and feel more physically fit than I did when I started. Its been really great to work out with all women in a place thats welcoming, non-judgmental, and fun!
My 8 year old has taken classes there for four years and I have begun taking classes this year. The entire experience has been exceptional, from the facilities, to the front desk to the senseis and curriculum. They offer a vast array of classes for all age groups and the senseis especially are very adept at handling from 3/4 year olds, who can be difficult at times, to 50 year olds. They offer many helpful seminars as well as opportunities for families and children to get together. Id highly recommend this to anyone looking to learn martial arts for themselves or their children.
Amerikick Park Slope is amazing! My daughter loves it! The teachers (senseis) are excellent! They are really helpful and are always clear on what to do! Ms. Ada, Sensei Alex, Sensei Marquez, Sensei Leticia, Sensei Ricky, Sensei Adrian, Sensei Dennis, are great! They make the classes fun & exciting!
What can I say Amerkick has changed my life! When i started kickboxing 4 yrs ago, kicking the bag, keeping up with the routine was tough,Ms Ada work with me-- now its amazing what I can do.Class is one hour, you get the best/hardest workout! Like John Mellencamp says...Hurts so good...Im a better wife, mother and person - kicking my stress and blues away!Thank you Amerkick!xx Sunshine
Ive been going to Amerikick for a little over 6 years and I cant imagine a life without it. Ive learned so much and met so many amazing people throughout those six years. Ive become a more outgoing person and more confident in myself. I would DEFINITELY recommend taking classes at Amerikick.
Since I first stepped inside, I was welcomed by everyone and although it was my first time doing kickboxing, I felt very comfortable ! I learned quickly and the instructors pushed me and motivated me and I have reached my goal in only two months being there! I absolutely love it and cant wait to go back to class!
(Patricia Mena) Love kickboxing class! I have never liked working out, but somehow, I make it to kickboxing on a regular basis. It is such a friendly and fun environment, it feels like home, and that is thanks to the wonderful instructors and fellow kick boxers. First class I took, I could not keep up and had never sweat so much. I still continue to sweat profusely, and after two years, I continue to be challenged! It is a hard workout that feels great afterwards.
Although Ive only been to a few classes i must admit that i enjoyed it very much. The senseis are very supportive and will see to it that you pull through even when you feel like giving up. Its a pity Ill be leaving soon but i recommend Amerikick Martial Arts Park Slope to everyone.
This is a great Dojo for all skill levels...Everyone here is very encouraging and helpful!...specializing in programs for little kids, but have classes for all age and belt levels including contact sparring, they even have kickboxing... expert staff willing to help in every way!!!A great Family atmosphere at Amerikick Park Slope!!!
Hi my name is Maricarmen,I have been at Amerikick for three years .My experience there has been great ,because I learned self-defense but most of it the instructors motivate us and correct our movements .I have known great people , ladies that want to make themselfes to feel good as I do .I tried another sports before but it wasnt the same ,at Amerikick it worth the time you spend every peny . I really recomend AMERIKICK.;-)
My trial session exceeded my expectations. I was very thankful to Sensei Niko for his care and concern for me during instruction. I informed him that I was recovering from ankle surgery. Throughout the instruction, he kept a watchful eye on me to make sure I didnt injure myself. It was an honor to meet Sensai Alex. He noticed right away that I had some previous martial arts exposure because of the way I properly bowed and greeted him. Then the best two surprises of all is I discovered that I knew Sensai Phoebe and had no idea she was an instructor! and one of my friends was a member and I didnt know it. So it felt like I was among family from the time I entered the dojo. I will be continuing my training with Amerikick for sure! Anita M. Bailey, Brooklyn, NY
I began taking classes in the summer of 2005 after my younger brother began. i had been in sports for years prior so i expected much ease. boy was i wrong! being a high school student at the time and a diabetic, the physical training helped me keep in shape and regulate my glucose levels, but that wasnt the extent of my learning. i developed a better sense of self control and responsibility over my health and my life.the combination of Sensei Alexs cardio, Sensei Ross conditioning, Sensei Mannys acrobatics lessons and flexibility training and overall wisdom from each instructor has helped shape me into the man, student and instructor i am today. i am currently 25 and a 2nd degree black belt, NASKA team demo champion, Amerikick Champion and on my way to beginning my career in the premed field. i owe much of my growth to amerikick, they have helped arm me with the physical, mental ad spiritual skill which has enabled me to set my dreams into goals and realities. i suggest anyone looking for something in their life to challenge them, shape them or just help them enjoy their life, amerikick is the place!
Ive never been a fan of group exercise classes until I started doing Kickboxing at AmeriKick, Park Slope. The instructors are fabulous, the workout is intense, and the camaraderie with the other women in the class is wonderful. I dont know what I would do without it!
After constant requests for a great review, I feel obligated to be honest about my change of heart with this school. If interested in my reasons, feel free to inbox me. If youre affiliated with the school, kindly dont unless its to return the years worth of membership credit that you promised, but still owe us or the refund that it medically should have been. Very disheartened and disappointed with the treatment and injury that my son received there.
When I first started at Amerikick Park Slope, I didnt have a lot of confidence, was very overweight, unhealthy and didnt have much self-discipline. But now, that I reached my goal as becoming a black belt, I have built my confidence up, made smarter health choices, slimmed down in weight and became a better person, not just in karate but at home.
I lost forty pounds and decided it was time to tighten up everything that was loose on my body. I have done yoga, Pilates, weight training, step aerobics. This kickboxing workout doesnt come even close to anything. Not a single other work out will show you results like this. I was in pain at first, a lot of pain. I wanted to give up. Some days it didnt seem I would ever go back. But I did. After EVERY SINGLE workout I noticed small differences. My arms arent jiggling I now have biceps triceps and more defined shoulders. I only did it four about a month but now I am injured and had to stop on doctors orders. I am counting down days and hours to go back to this second place I consider home. Cardio, fat burning, adrenaline, camaraderie, family, self defense, therapy, new friendships, more energy, motivation, dedicated instructors that are so encouraging, I could probably go on forever and not run out of all the positive life changing things you get when you join Amerkick. I spend each day longing to feel the burn. Anticipating the sweat dripping off my body and drenching through my clothes. This is the life changer if there ever was one!
I just signed up on the online. I wanted to try it for 2 days for free. I just got charged for 25 dollars out of nowhere and I have not clue for what. There is no place on the app to manage your payment. They control your card. I cannot do anything. They dont explain what you are signing up for in detail. I thought I was getting the 6 week free trial but got 2 days for a dollar. My 2 days are not over and Im being charged for a week. Online isnt worth paying for.
After burning five hundred plus calories, as I rested on one of the side benches at AmeriKick studio, I glanced at the floor mat which read “Lessons for Life”. At that moment I realized what AmeriKick truly stood for. It is not just another way of keeping fit, it is an approach to life. It is about learning the art of understanding one’s true self, and answering one’s inner calling. Being a part of AmeriKick is like being part of a close knit family where everyone truly cares for you. From greeting to good bye, the whole experience is one of true exhilaration. This place is capable of transforming you for life, because it teaches you discipline, focus, hard work and sincerity. Anyone looking to find the true meaning of ability and agility, needs to come to AmeriKick.
An absolutely splendid location with amazing staff, divine equipment and spot-on instruction. If youve ever wondered whether martials arts is for you, then you can stop searching now, give a call and begin the first steps to a practice well invested. Dont wait, get to kicking!
All the stars for Amerikick! My son (4) started when he was 3. As a single mom, spending this amount of cash on any activity means making sacrifices in other areas. In the same lens, as a single mom I cant put a dollar value on the family and mentorship Amerikick gives my son.
Amerikick Park Slope has been my 2nd and sometimes 1st home for the last 11 years. It has been a sanctuary for all in the neighborhood. Youll find progress for all ages, genders, ways and walks of life...diversity at its finest. In a World that passes judgment so quickly, its a place where youll find Christuans, Muslims, Buddhists, Atheists, LGBT, Conservatives, Liberals, Vegans, Paleo, Men, Women, old and young. All getting along, everyday on the mat. Its has raised me into a better leader, better mentor, better student and overall person. Amongst the staff youll find more than just preachers...but practitioners of their own word. Beacons of success and positive influence. Theres no better!-Sensei Ricky

2022-06-25This is what I was looking for as a parent. The classes are physically rigorous while being enjoyable for children. The Sensei also includes the aspects of discipline, focus, organization, respect. As an educator myself I would call Sensei Alex a talented teacher/coach. His approach is a wonderful combination of being oriented to get results, increase focus/discipline in a friendly and respectful way.The school is very well organized. The front desk ladies and their communication are simply impeccable.

2021-11-02My 3 and 7 year olds both go there. They love it. All senseis are very kind and patient. Not only do they teach karate but they also instill discipline and respect. Ms Ada is very friendly and always helpful. My daughter has always been scared of camps and after school classes. We had to withdraw her many times from other places. Amerikick is the only place outside of school that she loves!

2021-11-03My name is Jeremy Medina. I’ve been going to Amerikick adult Muay Thai classes now for about 4-5 months. Honestly this place is great. Since the first class I’ve gone to the Atmosphere has been so welcoming. Amerikick is not only a place where you go to work out and learn how to defend yourself. It’s also a community where you’re accepted and pushed to become a better version of you. You meet people from many walks of life and get to learn from their experience. The training is intense and very enjoyable. Great music playlist to pump you up as you work out. Inspiring and Charismatic Sensei motivating you to keep going. Caring and knowledgeable students ready to give a hand or advice on your Technique. This places the reason why I’m more confident, healthy, and emphatic towards others. 10/10

2018-08-28My kids have been with Amerikick for at least 4yrs. They started off in sunset park then move the park slope school. They made the transition very smooth. The instructors and staff are excellent. They really understand kids and their behaviors. Its a great feeling when my son comes home and is excited to show me his new moves. Its not only karate there. They have kickboxing, boot camp classes, acrobatics and specialized weapon classes. Great weekday and weekend schedule.

2014-08-08Our 5 yr old has been attending Amerikick for close to a year. It has been a very rewarding experience for all of us. During his time at the school we have seen a number of new students join. They are a very diverse group with different energy levels, personalities and attention spans. Regardless of how the kids start out, the team at Amerikick is very good at adapting to the individual students pace. In our sons case this approach created a comfort level that is very valuable. We personally feel its the reason he has stayed enthusiastic about attending for so long. Well that combined with a very engaging program/class. When our son started he was on the shy end of the spectrum with average physical development. He has grown in both areas over the last year, becoming more confident and coordinated. We feel the Amerikick experience is perfectly suited to young children and are happy with our decision to introduce martial arts to our son through them. Would highly recommend to others.

2020-12-22My son has been taking classes at Amerikick for almost four years. He started when he was three years old. He has grown so much since taking karate. He has Childhood Apraxia of Speech as well as a phonological disorder. All of the instructors and office staff were (and continue to be) patient, supportive and encouraging of my son as well as all the students. Amerikick teaches karate, sparring, weapons, acrobatics, hyper tricks, and so on. Most importantly, they teach the students respect, focus and self-worth. My sons confidence blossomed once he started taking karate. Each Sensei, who has worked with my son, is amazing. Theres something special about each Sensei at AmeriKick. Ms. Ada, who manages the front desk, makes it a pleasure to walk into the karate studio each time. She makes you feel like youre family, and thats what Amerikick is ... a family. Since COVID-19, my son has been doing online classes with Amerikick, and he cannot get enough! Before the pandemic, my only complaint was my son never wanted to leave Amerikick, haha. Even when his classes were completed, he wanted to stay and watch the next class.

2019-04-17Amerikick has been so great for our boys. Although our son isn’t athletic it immediately built core strength as well as resiliency. The class is taught in such a way that the children are happy to work hard! They see positive outcomes it’s so encouraging. The kickboxing class has matured our boys in a short time and teaches valuable life lessons as well as physical acumen. We are so grateful we were introduced to this class. Both our boys have already shown positive achievements both in school at home!
