A favorite hidden place. Have to find narrow path leading into the woods. Not terribly difficult terrain. Small hills, lots of tree roots to navigate over. Beautiful creek, lots of wildlife, deer, good place for birding, or having a picnic. Minimal parking. Usually enough spaces but sometimes all full and stuck waiting for one. Worth the trip, beautiful gorgeous if you can find the path into the woods.
Ok, but pathetic as a state park. There is literally one big path, not a bench anywhere. Really nice veterans memorial nearby but I dont even think its actually part of the park. Its very open and spacious but not well-kept so not really a great place for a picnic. Id call this a truly natural park, good for hiking maybe, I dont know how far back they let you into the woods. But not a place you want to come for the day with kids, or one that you can ride or walk around in for exercise unless you like repeatedly walking up and down turning around and going back and forth.
This was incredible: Big open fields, narrow walking paths along the water, gathering areas for picnics, beautiful fauna - it’s got it all! You can walk through the narrow paths following the water for a more hike-like experience, or just stay around the large fields and lay out a picnic.
Incredible secret garden type of park. Its tucked away and a little difficult to find in the first place. When you do find it, it comes off as fairly basic and straight forward; a long gravel walkway, an open field full of apple trees, a bridge over a creek that leads to another open field. However, once you go off the path a little, you quickly discover this place is full of hidden areas and nooks and crannies. Theres a lot to discover here thats hidden away. Great place to kill some time if you like exploring woods. Also very dog friendly.
I had no idea this park existed. It was an amazing walk with a fairly even path, though in some cases you were walking over roots but still I would say an easy trail. Youre surrounded by trees and a creek. The trail ends at Glen Falls park in Williamsville - what a treat!! If you didnt want to walk back on the path, you can walk back via the sidewalk on Mill Street. HIGHLY recommend!!
Beautiful grounds. Old orchard with fruit trees and even a few Walnut trees. My dog absolutely loves it here! We found huge mulberry trees with ripe fruit too. I see deer almost every single time I go here. The creek is a gentle flowing babble at the park and so relaxing to walk along or admire from the bridge.
This is a hidden gem located in the heart of Amherst. There are plenty of trails to walk along and Ellicott Creek flows through the middle. its an incredible place to spend the day with the family or friends. Dont forget to hike through the park up to Glen falls Park and enjoy the falls as well. And dont forget to stop along the way to look for the crawfish in the creek; or the deer, squirrels, snakes, and turtles in the park.Bring a chair or something to relax in and always remember if you carry something in please carry it out.
You like big open green space? You like dogs? You like kids? You like to walk on grass or just take a stroll in fresh air? This place is for you! Exactly that...a huge open green space where you can occasionally spot deer family, have chat with people walking their dogs or watch kids running excitedly in the open ground :)
Overly-pretentious name for pleasantly-unpretentious park. No need to put on airs. Former apple orchard (?) thats now all roughly-mown lawn with a few scraggly old apples trees interspersed, clinging on to life, refusing to die, with only a few crabapple-like apples, good for whipping at your fellow-middle-schoolers in 1973. Follow the old road to a big bridge over a very shallow creek, four inches deep, good for splashing your parents. Keep going. An old tiny shed/building as I recall, perfect for graffiti (Zeppelin Rules!). Keep going, end up at the nursing home on on Reist (?) St. Turn around, go back, get your Mom to take you to Sweet Jennys for ice cream.
Really nice walk. Great place for photoshoots. An easy walk if you stick to the main paths, and tons of little paths through the trees by the river. Lots of good fishing and wading spots if you go down the little paths. And if you walk through the paths far enough, you can end up in Glen Park, which is nearby.
This is a very well kept park. The trails are mostly paved and level. If you want to see the water its best to take the dirt trail and go through the woods. In the back theres the foundation of old buildings where it looks like people graffiti and have bon fires. Overall a nice quick walk. Saw a deer.
This park has a lot to offer! Trails for the adventure seekers... Ellicott Creek for fishing, and a ton of open area for Dog walking! I spent many summers in this park as a child. Dont forget the eternal flame where the creek splits into two, a hidden gem! I highly recommend this park to people of all ages!
Very beautiful park, best kept secret in Williamsville! There are several trails, apple orchards, and several picturesque spots along Ellicott Creek- which offers many fishing opportunities within the park borders. It connects to Glen Park and features an impressive veterans memorial.
My walk to the end of the gravel path and back to my car was about a mile. Very nice and easy walk. Could hear several different bird species along the path. I believe it would be a nice walk for birders. Ellicott Creek runs through the park. I saw a few people fishing. There was a van unloading kayaks. Looked like there was empty of water in Ellicott Creek for kayaking. The park is worth a visit.
When its not crowded, and if you get there early, you can catch smallmouth bass, brown trout, sunfish and a few other species in the creek. Hiking is relaxing through the woods and if you try you can even get lost. Great place to relax and hard to believe it is in the middle of Main street Amherst.
This park is great for walking dogs, and enjoying a leasurly stroll with a friend. We went at the beggining of the season so the lawn needed mowing, but Im certain theyll get on this soon. There is an orchard, and ellicot creek runs lackadaisical across the walking path. Check it out some time.
This place is a hidden gem! I didnt know it even existed until recently and Ive lived in the area for over 15 years. Its got a wide open field as well as backwoods hiking trails with beautiful streams with running water. Definitely a good place to spend half an hour or a whole hour at.
Been coming here for over 10 years with my dog, Buddy :) its his favorite place in the world ;) Im shocked at the amount of people that come here now.. it used to be so quiet here, now theres always people! thankfully it is big enough if you want a little space :) tho, I dont like the new bright lights at night along the edge of the park. not good for wildlife, especially fireflies, and gets animals used to artificial light which can cause all sorts of issues.. the ones along the park should have been motion activated. I hope they have a plan to put more trees along the edge where the lighting is to give the main land area a little privacy. i used to love meteor showers here but now its too bright. :(
We bring our puppy dogs here and Im still not sure who enjoys it more, us or them!! Theres a crick that runs through the property which is shaded and cool, which on a hot summer day is refreshing for our dogs to splash around in!! Sometimes well have the whole park to ourselves it seems! Only occasionally will we bump into another group, and when we do, everyone has been pretty cautious regarding the behaviour of their dogs, and really not just looking out for the best interest of their own dog(s), but of anyone elses dog(s) as well, which leaves me feeling reassured and more at ease

2022-06-26We went on this trail today. It was a very nice walk. There’s a shallow river flowing within the park. The environment is calm, fresh and peaceful; a nice place to chill. I recommend this place if you just want to wind down and talk a walk.

2022-06-22Cute place to walk around on the trails (or off the trails if you would like to find a demonic tree). Advise you go more in the daytime cause it feels a bit creepy/scary at night with all the woods and greenery

2021-09-24Wonderful gem in the heart of Williamsville. Walk through the old apple orchard or make your own path thru the woods or creek walk, trails connect to Glen Park and falls. Dog friendly. Some trails are stroller friendly. Great place to reconnect with nature!

2022-06-19The park is in a beautiful location and the trails are very nice. The trees provide adequate shading and the scenes are quite scenic. The only problems with this park come with them gosh darn teenagers that seem to ruin it. GRRRRR. Broken glass, littered cans, and graffiti take away from the serene nature experience. At this point ban anyone under 30, they deserve it.

2022-04-18I grew up going to ASP and playing in the fields and I still go back to this day. They have done so much to improve the park over the last 15 years, including adding benches and officially creating some walking paths. I love walking my dog there and people are always friendly.

2021-10-12Nestled in the outskirts of Amherst is this hidden slice of a wild heaven, well maintained paths and trails and even an option to do a little off the path walking! Many places to sit by the water and get away from the bustle of the city. Pets allowed 🐕

2020-11-08Can be crowded on a nice day and the parking is limited so thats the only con really of this park. It was nice, clean, and plenty of paths to explore while social distancing with friends. Definitely welcome if youre in the area and looking for some fresh air. Check out the swing too!
