Animal Emergency Clinic in other cities:
In retrospect, I wish I had given more thought to taking my dog here. My dog was making frequent diarrhea overnight and her regular vet could not get us in on a Sunday. Knowing that it was an issue that was ongoing, I did not want to wait a day to get to her regular vet so I decided to bring her here. They get 2 stars because they were able to have me bring her right away and because the tech who took her into the building as well as the tech who returned her were both polite to deal with, plus, they relieved her symptoms. I understand they cannot let clients into the building but sitting in your car in 80° sun is not pleasant, however my priority was my pet and they did warn me in advance. When I pulled up and called, the person on the phone could have been nastier but also couldve been a lot nicer. She asked me a series of questions and seemed impatient to run through the roster of questions and unfortunately, I guess some of my answers were not yes or no to fit into her little box. They came out to get my dog fairly quickly and I was able to give additional information to the tech. Dr. Kosofsky called me shortly there after, and keeping in mind I had very little sleep the night before and was getting confused as my dog had multiple recent visits to her regular vet, the vet seemed impatient and I agree with another reviewer, almost condescending. When you have a pet parent in an emergency situation, a bit of compassion would go a long way and even if youre busy, rushing through asking a client questions about their pet is not helpful or caring. Also, I wish the vet had explained what a Giardia test is because if she had told me what it was, I wouldve told her not to do it so I couldve save myself some money but so be it, I probably should have asked knowing that our regular vet already performed that test when we adopted the dog. There were a few higher priority cases that arrived after me so in total, I was waiting about an hour and a half to two hours for my pet to be returned to me, which I understood could be the case. For the cost, I wish they had done some of the testing that my original vet recommended we have done. So I guess I think of this like the ER, youre going to pay a lot and get the most basic remedy. They will treat the symptoms but not resolve the problem necessarily. My pets diarrhea stopped, which was the goal so for that, at least I had peace of mind. So my only other complaint is that yes, it is Covid, and I understand you dont want people in the building however, going back to the fact that it was 80° out, and I was drinking water in my car, I had to use the restroom after sitting there for an hour. I called and asked them to use the bathroom and they informed me that I could not come into the building and there are two gas stations down the road that I could try, so thats what I did. Overall I am relieved that my pets issue was attended to quickly and a basic issue resolved until I could get her to the regular vet today, but because of the attitude of the person on the phone as well as the vet, and the cost, I would not return here. If I ever need an emergency hospital again, I would consider driving further out of my way. They offered to keep my dog overnight and said I could pick her up in the morning to take her to the regular vet but I declined. I have no idea how much that would have cost but it was not worth it in my mind.
If my dog had a life or death emergency coming here would have killed her. My grandmothers dog had an allergic reaction and her face was so swollen she couldnt see, we waited 2 hours until the Benadryl we had given her at home kicked in. By that point the dog was fine, but we were told they had 2 people ahead of us and an emergency, you would think possible anaphylaxis is a bit more urgent than a two hour wait just to be told wait longer.
Dr Z;Not compassionate at all; wants money upfront, and if you dont have it oh well say goodbye to your pet for an emergency clinic the total experience was very stressful and shady. when your pet is in distress there is no other place to go in the area the way they operate is MONEY MONEY MONEY and not just in the best interest of the pet or the owner, money upfront or no service to your pet, I was told I dont make the rules this is how we operate...what a shame.
Just took My Dog here who woke up panting and heart pounding and because they were closing they decided not to do any test but sure charged Me over $200 and told Me to call My vet. Guess getting home is more important then the Animals to them. They are very unprofessional, I would say trash bags and only hope if they have pets this happens to them. Karma is a mother and it will get them. Do not come here if you have a choice.
If its a dire emergency bring your pet somewhere else. My dogs face was the size of a balloon and we were in the car for over an hour and never got called to go in. Thankfully as soon as we noticed her face was swelling we gave her benadryl so after an hour and 20 minutes the puffiness started going down so we just left and shes better now but if we didnt have benadryl my dog would probably not be here right now.
I was so glad they were open last week when our precious kitty had sudden onset saddle thrombus and had to be put down. They took such good care of our boy, and everything they did helped him feel more comfortable and calm in those last minutes. They saw him right away and let us be with him despite COVID protocols. I can’t thank them enough for the care and compassion they showed him and us.
Not so good. We called them at midnight when our beagle seemed to be having issues delivering her puppies and were told not to worry that it took some time to deliver all of them. At 5:30 am we called again and were told to bring her in. They did an x-ray and told us that one looked like it was breech but we came to them too late because they were closing soon and couldnt help. They charged us $300 and told us to go to a place in Brewster but would need $7000 for them to see us and help.Well after some calls and getting in touch with who is now our new Vet we ended up in an amazing Emergency Hospital in Katonah-Beford area.Wasnt $7000 and they actually refunded us some money after taking care of our Belle.
I brought my dog here last year when he past and the staff was very compassionate. Brought my Chihuahua in this past Sept because she was not feeling well and the Vet was great. I loved that he called me to consult with every step they had to take, to care for my dog. I appreciated that very much. Will always be my first choice.
CALLED ON SUNDAY EVENING THE GIRL THAT ANSWERED THE PHONE WAS RUDE SHOWED NO COMPATION FOR MY CATS CONDITION OR ME. WHAT A REAL GEM .I THOUGHT THATS WHAT PEOPLE IN THE MEDICAL FIELD SHOULD DO I GUESS I WAS WRONG! SHE DIDNOT WANT TO HEAR ANYTHING THAT HAD TO SAY BECAUSE SHE WAS OVERLOADED WITH PETS , MY CAT THAT WAS 17 YEARS OLD WAS SUFFERING AND DIEING . ALL I WANTED AT THAT MOMENT WAS TO RELEAVE HER SUFFERING BY PUTTING HER TO SLEEP , SHE DIDNOT WANT TO HEAR WHAT I HAD TO SAY. SHE KEEP THALKING OVER ME AND THEN TOLD ME SHE HAD NO TIME. ITS BAD ENOUGH TO LOOSE A PET AFTER 17 YEARS IT S TOTALY DIFFERANT TO WATCH THEM SUFFER . I THEN DROVE HER TO BREWISTER 4 HARDSCRABBLE HGTS..THAT MENT SHE HAD TO SUFFER FOR 35 MIN. LONGER ,TO GUARDIAN EMERGENCY VET. WELL LET ME TELL YOU THE CONCERN AND LOVE THAT THEY SHOWED TO MY CAT AND MY FAMILY WAS WAS SECOND TO NONE FROM THE TIME WE WALKED IN TO THE TIME WE LEFT. THOSE RUDE AND COLD HARTED PEOPLE SHOULD TAKE LESSONS FROM GUARDIAN. DONOT BRING YOUR PETS TO ANIMAL EMERGENCY CLINIC IF YOU LOVE THEM.TOO BAD THAT YOU HAVE TO GIVE THEM AT LEAST 1 STAR TO POST .
They killed my dog !!! I paid in cash $2176.38 for a down payment cash another $2000 when she would have been released. Her surgery was done at 4am even though she was there before 3pm. Dr. Said she came throuhj with flying colors. Then he called me back 3 hrs later saying she had a ripped trachea. Like she had that for awhile she would have been having complications years ago. I loved ♥ ❤ my poodle 11 years I handed herbright over to the BUTCHER NEVERV AGAIN.
Took my dog there because she was attacked by another dog. (I myself am a veterinary nurse) Was told my dog was fine and there was no severe injuries. Sent home with 5 days worth of amoxicillin and no pain meds. The next morning her entire neck was so swollen and she wouldn’t stop panting because she was in so much pain. Immediately rushed her to a real emergency vet (veterinary emergency group) where they sedated her clipped and cleaned the area. Changed antibiotic to something stronger and prescribed pain medications! Shame on this place its a joke. Shouldn’t be allowed to call themselves an emergency clinic. They just want money… they don’t have smart staff members either. Very rude receptionists and not so knowledgeable technicians. Stay away from this place!!
Granted, I shouldve called before I drove to this place but Im babysitting a dog and its tail is completely raw and he is visibly uncomfortable. When I arrived here and called, the woman who answered the phone said why didnt you call before you came here? Theres a 4 hour wait. You need to go BACK home and CALL again to see how long the wait is (even though she just told me its a 4 hour wait). I did not have time for stupid today so I called a different place and got an appointment. The rude, nasty service immediately turned me off.
I had a wonderful experience at this practice this past weekend. The techs were kind, understanding, and professional. Dr. Haumaier and Dr. Kosofsky were both responsive and gave me complete updates on my dogs condition. I never had to wait more than a few minutes for anyones attention. Dr. Haumaier performed surgery on my pup which was thorough and well executed. I was surprised with the small size of the incision given the extensive abdominal work that was needed. My pup is healing well. I am delighted with my experience here and I will absolutely return should the need ever arise. Thank you to the entire team working Memorial Day and night 2021.
If I could give this place zero stars i would. I would never bring my dog back here ever again! This place is a scam an all they care about is money .My dog hasn’t eaten her food in 24 hours an is throwing up. Due to covid I wasn’t allowed inside. $115 just for my dog to walk thru the door. Got X-rays done $204.46 all for the doctor to tell me he can’t see anything cause there seems to be fluid in her stomach… a bowl of water she drank 20 min prior. Doctor suggested her stay over night $1200.00-$1500.00 to keep her over night to keep a close eye on her which I refused cause that’s ridiculous. Still walking out with a bill for $450. Then when the women came out to give me my bill an dog she had the nastiest attitude as if I’m not doing the right thing cause I wouldnt pay someone that money to keep my dog overnight an had to sign paperwork stating I refused the stay. I highly suggest no one ever being there pet to this emergency clinic cause all it is to me an others I’ve spoke to outside while waiting is a money pit! They catch people in a vulnerable state of mind trying to care for there pets an try an get every dollar out of them.
OMG I will sing praised of this place from the rooftops if I have to. Dr. Zankoff, I think his name is, and his amazing nurse Stephanie are ANGELS. Guardian hospital had told me that my dog would either need an expensive $12k surgery or to be put down or surrendered and we pleaded with them for alternative solutions. Then we called Animal Emergency Clinic back and they did everything in their power to help our poor pup. We took him back this morning for another X-ray and they said the blockage was CLEARED. I was crying so hard with happiness. I wish he was a regular vet so I could take my baby to him every time we have a problem. They gave me hope when I was at the end of my rope. ILL FOREVER BE GRATEFUL TO THESE WONDERFUL PEOPLE.
I can not be more grateful to the Animal Emergency Clinic of the Hudson Valley. My 6 year old Greyhound got herself injured. A 3 cut on her hind leg down to the bone. Dr Zancope immediately calmed my fears very early on a Sunday morning. They took my baby in performed surgery. Updated me regularly. They cared for her until I could pick her up from work. All the while giving updates on her condition. Dr Zancope and the team at AEC of Hudson Valley have my sincerest Gratitude. I am so grateful to have an Animal ER close to home with competent caring Doctors and Staff.Again Thank you so much Dr Z and the medical Team at Animal Emergency Clinic of Hudson Valley.SincerelyScott MacPherson
My story is short and not so sweet I arrived at the animal emergency clinic with my dog who seem to be unresponsive and had been absolutely fine hours before. When I called I found out that Dr. Z was on as the vet he is the most uncompassionate veterinarian that I have ever experienced in my life. He had pressed grudges against me while I was a volunteer at the Dutchess County SPCA where he practiced very unprofessionally well I sat there and cried as this was my Second time of using their services I was scared to death for my animal. When did veterinarians stop being compassionate and make you feel like less than a human animal lover? The staff when I was yelling out because the vet was yelling at me she was screaming at me and telling me that I was the reason that veterinarians commit suicide due to this abuse? Seriously I am here with my dying dog, And of course with Covid you can’t go inside but I guarantee you they go in the grocery store!!! Their rooms are big enough to be sure to stay 6 feet apart and I’m sure we all had our vaccines. Dr. Marco Z Came out yelling at me asking me what I wanted to do we spent more time on the phone than them taking care of my dying dog ! This veterinarian had the nerve to ask me why I bought him a dog in this condition? Is he serious I thought that’s what an emergency vet did except he’s not qualified. He asked me to sign a paper to put her to sleep because I couldn’t afford $1500 to have tests done to A DYING DOG as he proclaimed!!! He then proceeded to yell at me and tell me that when I would come to the Humane Society which I think he meant the Dutchess County SPCA with my pets that I allowed to get so sick before them being seen that I was the bad person. When I was upset and yelling at him for treating me that way his vet tech a heavyset girl with red hair was screaming at me and telling me that I did not need to come back there to find somewhere else to go and treated me with so much disrespect that my last few minutes I had with my dog taking her last breath‘s they made to be the worst situation That anybody should have to go through with their beloved pet of 10 years. Please if you people love your animals do not go there they do not treat your animals humanely or their owners
My 15 lb dog got into 2 Hershey bars and I called all around and was grateful this place was open on a Sunday. They told me to come right away so I drove the 35 mins to get there. They told me to call when I got there because we couldnt go inside due to covid. I called and they said they would come out to do an assessment and then take her in. I waited 15 minutes and they didnt come out so I called again and they apologized and said they were coming right away. I waited another 45 minutes and no one came out. I ended up leaving and going to another vet and my dog started seizing on the way there. This is absolutely the worst vet Ive ever gone to. My dog could have died and these people never even made it outside to do an exam. I would have given them zero stars but that wasnt an option.
We had two visits in two weeks, and the care was good and caring both times. Our cat had lymphoma but the diagnosis from our regular vet was uncertain, and there was some hope that steroids could suppress it for a while. We first brought her in for fluids and steroids. Our vet was out of town and phoned instructions to the clinic. Then we brought her in 2 weeks later for euthanasia, as her situation suddenly became clear. On both visits we were treated competently and with compassion by all of the staff, the techs, the vet and the front desk. Thank you for helping us at a difficult time.
They did a wonderful job taking care of my dog after a surgery. They watched him for two nights, made sure he made it through to a great recovery! Especially wonderful vet techs, doctors were friendly and took the time to talk with me. Not sure why people had such a bad time, it’s an ER, so obviously it’s not first some first serve, but taken on a case by case basis. I had to wait so they could save a ferret who was having trouble breathing, not a problem at all in my book. Great emergency vet for when you, god forbid, ever need one.
We will NEVER return to this Emergency Vet. Office. I cannot believe they are still in practice, especially after reading other reviews stating similar feelings and experiences to what we experienced tonight. After my French bulldog, Frankie, had what appeared to be an extreme allergic reaction or heat stroke (common with the breed), we brought him to this care center for help. The vet was extremely passive and tried to convince my fiance and I that that our dog ingested weed. (Without even evaluating the dog, running any tests, etc.) I assured her that would not be possible as neither of us have and/or use that. She laughed and continued to make actual accusations at us both and refused to discuss any other possibilities as to why our dog was not feeling well and even assured us our dog was fine when he CLEARLY was not. She also stated the prices of blood work and an x-ray with the assumption that we could not afford or would not be willing to pay to have these tests done. When in reality, we would pay whatever it costs to ensure the life and safety of our dog. I have never felt more disrespected or belittled in my entire life. This is not correct practice for any health care professional(s).
I was not surprised to see that another person writing a review was not satisfied with the Doctor at this clinic. The atmosphere was very pleasant and welcoming when we first arrived and I loved their adorable office kitty. The lady at the front desk was very nice. The Dr. however was not very compassionate or understanding. Our cat had passed out that very evening and had other issues going on and he was not supportive and did not give any meaningful responses or advice. He was more passionate about himself and worried about his license than trying to put us at ease. He brags about doing this for 37 years yet gets defensive and takes it personal if owners get frustrated or upset. He also questioned how we would be able to pay $2000 for an MRI which I thought was rude to ask someone. He definitely does not know how to work with the public and its very unfortunate that we had this experience. I feel bad for other people who have felt this way and if you are reading this, please look for other alternatives.
The Veterinary that took care of our cat was awesome. We are still not sure the cat will be okay. We received a phone call 8am Monday morning from a person there asking why we haven’t picked up the cat yet. It was never communicated to us that we needed to do so. First off we have no idea if the cat is even okay and second we don’t need some rude person demanding and saying ‘I hope you are in your car on the way here’. RUDE RUDE RUDE. It’s very sad because the place was beyond helpful on a Sunday morning and we are thankful our Cat made it through the night. Please get someone with some compassion working that front desk. We are upset enough over the fact the cat may die and we are probably going get charged well over $1000 for the stay.
I cant say enough good things about this place and the staff. Over the past 15 years Ive had to bring my dogs here for various emergencies. From an emergency splenectomy at 2am to a more recent corneal ulcer for my senior English Bulldog they have always been compassionate and caring. They explained everything in great detail and treated my babies with the best care. They saved my boys life with emergency surgery at 2am when a tumor on his spleen ruptured and he was bleeding internally. I couldnt be more grateful for the care my dogs have received by them.
Thank god for this place. I was surprised to see so many negative comments. Thankful for a place to be open at 1 am. My dog ingested a nectarine pit. Nicole and Anna and the Doctor were excellent. They brought my pup in and within ten minutes they came out and my dog had puked up the pit. Very nice people here and should be appreciated more for the hours they work away from their families.
This was the worst experience I have ever had. Records/tests results were not gone over with me before tests were completed or afterwards. I had to call several times to get any information about the status of my dog. They fed her without my consent, which led to a delay in her receiving her necessary surgeries. When confronted about feeding my dog and delaying surgery, I was told that surgery could be completed anyway (this is unsafe given the use of anesthesia). My dog was injured on a Friday night, and it was hard to find any nearby surgeons. I was laughed at when I told them I would be going to a well known emergency surgery location 45 minutes away. I was told just to leave my dog in their care until Monday or Tuesday, when all other vets I contacted told me I needed to have the surgery done immediately. When I called to pick up my dog I was told her I had to wait two hours to get her. When I did pick her up the doctor did not meet with me.It is very clear that they are not compassionate to pet owners, dont care enough to go over full case issues, and do not have the knowledge to provide necessary treatments.DO NOT BRING YOUR BELOVED PETS HERE!!!!!!
My experience was similar to another post which i should have read before I called. I cannot tell you how the vet at this hospital was because the woman on the phone was more interested in getting me off the phone and letting me know if I go, they don’t take personal checks nor American Express. That seemed to be the most important thing to her...not the care of my pet so didn’t take her there. I never write reviews neither positive nor negative but felt compelled in hopes who runs the hospital will read it and make the improvements for compassionate care beginning at the first call in. I understand the hospital needs to be paid like all other service providers but there has to be a better way to make the point in such circumstance.
I would like to thank the Animal emergency clinic of the Hudson Valley. Putting down a pet is a very sensitive situation. The hospital handled our cat Clay with sensitivity and love, making sure he was comfortable throughout. We were able to give him plenty of love throughout the entire time. It felt very spiritual and unlike anything I ever experienced in the past. Thank you Dr. Kosofsky
I had to go there twice in a month and they were very helpful both time. The first time they diagnosed my cats condition correctly and the second time they did more than they had to for a 1 day old kitten. They are professional and humane which is a rare combination. And also very reasonably priced. So happy to have them available after hours.
Very kind, accommodating and knowledgeable staff! We went in on a Sunday morning after our kitten was up all night meowing and limping on his hind leg and we were greeted right away and taken in right away. The staff and the veterinarian were great and professional. This is the first emergency animal hospital that I’ve been too that didn’t rip me off. They took X-rays right away and wrapped up his leg and had us on our way. I was actually relieved that the bill wasn’t ridiculously expensive and that he was back to reeking havoc within a few days just like the veterinarian had stated.
I have had nothing but positive experiences with all the wonderful people at the Animal Emergency Clinic in Poughkeepsie! My father also had an emergency with his cat and wrote the following review:I was extremely pleased with your friendly, compassionate help in calming and diagnosing my cat Troubles problem. You followed through by treating him accordingly with further instructions, which I followed completely. He is now on an Insulin program and is responding well. Hes even walking much better which I feared might not come back after the loss of the functioning of his hind legs.**Thank you again and I appreciate your expert help. Trouble is doing fantastic and I am grateful you were there to help.
Had an emergency with our cat in middle of the night and as soon as we arrived they were amazing to us! Took care of our precious one in very professional and caring manner! Staff was very understanding to our concern for her and reassured us she was in good hands! Very pleased with the service we received and would recommend to friends!
This place is horrible misdiagnosed my older English bulldog. Refused to offer help.after this.was. brorought to their attention very rude and disrespectful on the phone. Both the receptionist and the doctor. I wouldnt bring my pet here if to was the last place on earth. $369 and they still cant tell me what is wrong with must dog. THIS PLACE IS GARBAGE
Horrible experience. They shouldn’t be aloud to call themselfs an emergency clinic. They lack compassion and care. They just want money. I thought veterinarians and vet techs choose those careers to make a difference and because they love animals but not here!! Do not bring your pets here!! CAME HERE A COUPLE of weeks ago with my cat only to be told it would coast $2200 to get the him treated for Lyme disease!! I told them no thanks and went to guardian specialty center( A real emergency clinic!)
When our cat (not geriatric) suddenly was dehydrated and listless (acute kidney failure!), she received the best care we could have hoped for. Everyone at the clinic was professional and courteous, and its obvious that many of them personally care about the animals and customers. While we were prepared for the worst, our cat inexplicably bounced back. I am sure that the impeccably attentive and compassionate treatment she received had something to do with it. Wish I had kept track of everyones names because I want to thank you all again, personally. Youre wonderful.
I was shocked to read these negative reviews. Ive been to this hospital with 3 different pets in the last month. The doctors and staff are very professional, caring and knowledgeable. On my last visit Dr. Kosofsky and her techs went above and beyond to make sure that my dogs horribly infected leg was treated with utmost care. Thanks to them she is on the road to recovery.
This place was awful. Without knowing my dogs history all the very condescending vet could recommend was to admit my dog for all kinds of tests stating that “you’d be lucky if it’s only $1,000 per day to treat him”. And when I was trying to explain his history and what my vet does to treat him all she was insisting on was admitting him. When I said no I can’t afford that she rudely said “what you can’t borrow a few thousand dollars from someone”. I was floored!! After saying no a few times she left the room and the vet tech came out and gave my dog what I originally said my vet does to treat him. In the morning I followed up with my regular vet and continued the treatment we’ve done in this situation before and he was fine within a few hours. So no need to admit him.... I think it’s awful a person would want to take advantage of people when they’re distressed and have their sick animal at their place in the middle of the night by recommending admitting to their hospital and unnecessary tests just to get paid...... I’ll never go back here and would recommend no one brings their pets here either.
This place is a pathetic excuse for emergency. Rushed my Sheba in because my vet said something about her stomach busting and all they cared about was the money upfront. I asked if they would take my diamond ring while I went to get the cash at home, they wouldnt. Asked if they could start treating her while my husband went home to get the cash and even with my staying there while he did, they wouldnt treat her. Finally after the hour ride there & back my husband came, we gave them the $2,500 cash, they took my Sheba in and it was too late. She died from waiting too long. What a fkn joke of a place and these people suck. Even the doctor. I should have sued them and gave the money to the SPCA. Find another emergency vet. Any doctor that puts money above a patients care, especially in an emergency shouldnt be a vet. Not human at all.
Vet is so beyond horrible. It’s one thing to not know but she legit did not even want to try to help... some brunette who was just so mean to my cat who was suffering and scared. Obviously this vet does not care about helping animals at all. Seems like she would let your pet die if it would be less of a hassle for her, as if you are inconveniencing her by being there. Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if people have lost pets because she did not help them the right way ... what a disgrace. Take the extra time and take your pet to another emergency clinic - Newburgh, New Windsor, even Westchester - ANYWHERE but somewhere you’re wasting even more time with someone who would probably be doing anything else than help you or your family. I have never regretted anything more than letting that woman treat my cat and I the way she did
Disgusting disgrace!! SHAME ON THIS PLACE!Ive had 8 dogs in my 40 years and have been to plenty of vets and pet hospitals...none have EVER set off my severe cat allergies....EVER. I assume its because they keep a clean facility as they should. I was in this office 10 minutes before i started scratching at myself, waiting for a Dr to walk into the exam room. I look down and my black shoes are covered in balls of white hair. I look over to my black poodle who had his face covered in white hairs from sniffing the floor. Meanwhile music was blaring from thr back somewhere and noone showed. I wiped his face off thinking, theyre probably dog hairs. Seconds later, the itchiness got worse and once I started to feel itch in my throat...I knew what was happening. I was going to need a hospital myself if i stayed, because I was about to have an asthma attack!I walked out as fast as I could without getting my poodle seen (for rectal bleeding). So now, 2 benedryls, 5 inhaler pumps and a nebulizer treatment later...I can breathe but still want to scratch all my skin off & he now has to wait till morning to be seen & treated in a CLEAN facility.Maybe they should focus on cleanliness rather than focusing on music. Effin ridiculous what I had to go through tonight with a visit to that hell hole for only a total of 20 minutes. Thanks for nothin!!
If I could give a less than a one star review, I would. My husband recently broought our Golden Retreiver there because he suddenly only wanted to walk in small right-hand circles, bumping into things, problem standing/walking, extremely restless and panting. We had multiple dogs for 20yrs, never encountered this prior. When he got there (3:30am, Sunday ) she performed 2 chest xrays, 2 EKGs, ultrasound and BP. After the exam she said that panting/heart rate was definitely the problem, diagnosing Supraventricular Tachycardia, prescribed BP med (which could have killed him), instructed going to a cardiologist for his heart and neurologist in case of a brain tumor/stroke, specifying going to a referral hospital for cardiac and neurology specialty, upstate NY. BUT, she never DID check his EARS, which was the first thing she should have done due to the presenting symptoms. My heart rate is going up just having to post this after all that happened! This vet faxed the paperwork to our vet. Upon bringing him there, he was officially diagnosed...with an EAR Infection due to collection of wax in the ear, was given an antibiotic and recovered in ONE(1) day.Not only did YOUR vet MISDIAGNOSE my dog, but she caused Us EXTREME STRESS...my dogs condition becomemuch worse during that weekend, only to go to our vet who quickly diagnosed the ear infection that he has recovered from in a day. He is now acting like himself again.
I cut my dogs nail way too short... and it started to bleed. .. pretty bad.so after he kicked off the little bit of clotting agent I had ...it got to the point that i was concerned. .. so we head to animal emergency clinic. ..covered in blood, my wife and I are greeted by a non-concerned reception. .. when 1000 questions needed to be answered. ..if hes a outside dog... did he eat today. ... on and on...after that we waited, 40 minutes later... the bleeding let up... so we walled out .thanked them for nothing...and ever looked back....
I called this emergency clinic after finding an abandoned newborn kitten. All the receptionist had to say was it would be very expensive for them to even see the kitten. Then, they would need to test it to make sure it wasnt a carrying for any cat diseases. THEN, it could try and help it but survival for a newborn kitten without a mother was so slim they really couldnt do ANYTHING for it.I called the Wappingers Falls Emergency clinic, who offered to see this kitten found in this AWFUL situation for free. They were going to help set us up with taking care of this newborn. Once the vet realized how sick it was they said we should turn over care to them, so they could do the best financially for the animal. Everyone was kind and caring during this heartbreaking experience.I would NEVER go to this animal ER with my own pets. I want compassionate people who love animals.
It’s 3:45 in the morning and just came back from this place. The vet tech Anna recommended that I bring my dog in because she was vomiting continuously after an earlier surgery that day. She mentioned gastric tortion. So off I went.. Anna was fine... Whomever this doctor is (male , lanky, goat tee) ... This was the most awkward vet visit I have ever experienced. Incoherent sentences from this person, he grabbed the surgical area on my dogs nose after I JUST told him where the stiches were... literally petting her roughly on the stiches. There’s a lot more but I will spare you. This guy was constantly sniffing.. incoherent.. and made and awful attempt at a scientific explanation. My gut was telling me the whole time that this guy is on drugs .. total tweaker. He then try to upsell me for some tests adding another $700+ to my $115 bill. DO NOT GO HERE.
A very uncaring place to go to. The website and the front desk told me I can get an immediate ultrasound done. Upon arrival I was told no. After a charging me $850 up front then an additional $1000 they misdiagnosed my dog and told me he didnt need an ultrasound. A few hours later they told me I should pick him up and bring him somewhere else because he absolutely needed an ultrasound and it is not their fault they got it wrong
As I lay with my dying dog this disrespectful doctor kept asking me to look at him and got loud when I said no. Don’t ever bring your animals here unless you want a disrespectful doctor to get mad when you lose a member of your family. Staff were friendly doctor acted like a scumbag end of story. Want to rate negative stars
I just spoke to a woman on the phone with a very poor disposition. I am not sure she is aware that people calling the animal emergency clinic are usually calling because there is something distressing going on with one of their loved ones. I was calling to gather information and ask questions. I will not be taking any of my animals here. Horrible. If there is a vet in the area that wants to be of great service to the community, may I suggest opening an emergency clinic with kind people.
From Debbie Mangione and FamilyIncredible and Compassionate experience! The entire staff, Cindy, Devon and Dr. Kosofsky were so very kind, gentle and honest with our emergency situation. If anyone needs an emergency service with their furry baby, please contact and visit this location. They all filled our broken hearts with love, hope and humane professionalism.THANK YOU AECHV ❤❤❤
I have been twice in the middle of the night and everyone was kind and caring. I am amazed that these professionals are up all night when all others are closed. They were considerate to explain costs and I was lucky that they had all the equipment needed right there to check out my cat fully. THANK YOU ANIMAL EMERGENCY CLINIC!

Left me and my sick cat sitting in a room, while he died in my arms, nothing is a emergency for them, except if you can pay or not... Trust me , go anywhere else but his place !!! And when I confronted the owner the next day, she said the did NOTHING wrong... Except maybe let my pet die on your watch !
My Romeo was having a very serious gi issue blood everywhere as hard as it was I left him overnight at the hospital for 2 nights and together as a group everyone got him well they were very professional loving caring and put up with a nervous doggy mom thanks to all the fabulous techs who took care of my baby the doctor was awesome I highly recommend this animal hospital ❤️
My friends brought their dog there last night and was told they would call if anything happened he had another seizure while in their care and didnt call also didnt give him his medication so I would advice anyone do not bring your sick pets here and also charge them over $800 just for one night

2021-11-23Don’t believe the low rating! Every single person I encountered today from the person who answered the phone, to the person who came outside for my dog, to the doctor treating him was extremely compassionate, kind, and professional. This is the exact team you would want in a stressful situation. My dog swallowed his gps AirTag today and after a quick Google search realized the lithium battery was deadly for him. We called ahead and they took down all our information and put us on the wait list. The whole process from the minute we got there until we left took about 30 - 45 minutes and the doctor called with updates twice. They even gave back the retrieved gps tag (which went right in the trash) along with the X-ray video. Honestly don’t listen to the other reviews! Call ahead, find out the wait time, get on the list, and be patient. It’s an emergency clinic so they can’t control how many other pets are there before you, just know they will take excellent care of your animal when it’s your turn.

2021-11-15My cat sustained a serious injury after climbing into the wheel well of a vehicle. The clinic saw him immediately/ triaged and started treatment. He was given pain meds to stay comfortable during treatment. The Dr communicated thoroughly and patiently with me. The tech and reception were also thorough and patient. Everything was curbside due to covid and I appreciated their concern for mine and their own well being.

2022-05-04If I could give 0 or even negative stars I would. This place, at least the staff that answers the phone for the overnight emergency care, lack compassion. They are rude and awful to deal with over the phone and offered me absolutely no help when my pet dying. I called to see if they could take my pet right away and they bluntly said that there was nothing they can do. They had no space/doctors available and told me to go to Guardian in Brewster (which is an amazing place by the way, but much further away). How is it that a 24-hour emergency vet cant accept patients? That is quite literally your purpose. I truly hope that if I am ever dying and I try to go to the emergency room at Vassar they dont say yeah, no one’s available you need to go somewhere else. To sum up I will never go here or recommend this place to anyone ever.

2022-06-11Compared to other local animal hospitals, this is by far the worst I have ever experienced with. I would never trust my pets lives with them again. The veterinary doctor has an attitude problem and shows little to no compassion.

2022-04-28I cant thank the staff enough for saving my girl last night. She managed to grab my albuterol inhaler off the back of the counter and punctured it. I did not know how serious this could be until she vomited and had labored breathing. She stayed overnight and was attended to every 2 hours to bring her heart rate down and electrolytes up.

2018-07-29My dog was diagnosed with Melanoma of the jaw four months ago, we brought her home to make her comfortable. A week ago, she started acting erratic and knew she was probably in the dying process. It was a Sunday and of course our Vet was closed. Lucky this is the emergency go to that are Vet suggested. We drove up there and was greeted by Cindy the sympathetic receptionist who took us to a room to make our dog comfortable. They came in and explained the process and did do so in a sympathetic manner which at that time was most appreciated. They were very respectful of our feelings. I certainly recommend them and if an emergency arises with my other pets will certainly bring them there. Dr Kasofsy was the Dr who euthanized my Lucy and was so caring. Thank you to her and the staff that made a heartbreaking decision easier, that we were doing right by my Lucy. I felt I had to post these photos of my dying dog, Lucy because of questions concerning the authenticity of my review, as you see, she had Melanoma of the jaw and was hemorrhaging. The staff made Lucy comfortable as can be considering her condition.

2022-02-22Last night around 7:30 pm I was driving and saw a little grey kitten that had been hit by a car on the road, unfortunately it looked like it’s back legs had been broken.I was able to get the kitten wrapped in a blanket and drove to the office after searching online for an emergency clinic nearby, luckily it was only 5 minutes away. I called on the way there, the secretary that answered the phone was kind and professional. They asked a few questions and told me to call when we were in the parking lot. As soon as I got there I called and a tech ran out immediately and took the kitten inside.Since I surrendered the kitten to them, with them promising to do everything they could, I’m unable to find out if they made it. But I just wanted to say thank you for what you do. I’m glad there was somewhere to bring that injured baby in the middle of the night, be it to get it the care it needed or end it’s pain, I am thankful.

2021-09-21Took our dog Tucker there this past Sunday night for a bad laceration on his leg that needed to be stitched ASAP. While they could not promise he would be immediately taken, for example if an animal came in not breathing, they would do their best to get him right in. When we got there we had to wait only a few minutes. They were very kind and did a nice job stitching him up (20+) and cleaning the area. They took the initiative to communicate with Tuckers primary vet and we received a call from them on the first day to check in and schedule his stitches to be removed. We are now on day 2 of having him back and he is doing fantastic. No infection, eating fine and bowels movements and such are great. Thank you Animal Emergency Clinic of Hudson Valley. Tucker and his family are very grateful.

2022-05-16Excellent every one was nice they cared for my babys pancreatitis he was also there 4 years ago thank god for this place. As far as the negative reviews do not believe them they are a business and are not a charity just like a dentist people do not pay that is why payment is rendered at time of discharge my family is very happy to have their services when needed yes animal care is not cheap.

2021-07-03I honestly would have given 5 stars, everyone is great! Skylar handled my dogs with care. She was so kind! Everyone who helped me was very pleasent, the other receptionist was sweet. The assistants that came out were all were kind and handled my babies with care. The doctor called me after seeing both dogs and went over in detail the exam and what was done. I loved it! They saw my pets in a timely fashion being an emergency facility, BUT THE RECEPTIONIST CINDY. I have never been spoken to in such a nasty unprofessional demeanor in my entire life! I was stressed as is with my pets emergency. This woman had no compassion. I don’t even know why she even works in the animal care field. As a fellow receptionist/assistant at another vet faculty that was closed, I never would ever speak to a person in such an unprofessional way under any circumstances. I was nothing but kind my entire visit knowing what it is like working in this field.
