Havent had a bad experience yet. I take both my dog and cat. The only reason why I wouldnt give 5 stars is because the staff (not Dr Rupert) made me feel guilty for not wanting to fix my dog and they provided me with an unsolicited estimate for the procedure. But other than that they are kind and helpful and you can tell they all LOVE animals and there jobs.
PLEASE READ!!!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. I don’t want what happened to me and my cat to happen to somebody else. I took my kitty here when she was showing serious weight loss, and the vet said all she was only suffering from was a UTI. We took her somewhere else off the island, and it turns out she had CANCER. She passed away 3 weeks later. Seriously, how unprofessional do you have to be to misdiagnose my pet that badly? Please...go somewhere else for your pets sake. Clearly only in it for the $$. So sad.
I agree with Ryan. I have had animals for over 25 years. In all the moves I have had I have taken my pets to a few different veterinarians. Never have I had such a terrible experience. The receptionist was AMAZING but the techs and vet had no bedside manner. How can you not be overly friendly when you get to examine a 3lb kitten?! My questions were dodged. I was made to feel like I was stupid. It was mentioned 3 times how I have not brought back my older cat in awhile to be up to date with shots. I expressed concern for my kitten and there was no empathy. They had no problems writing up estimates for everything my 3 animals needed in near future. I joking asked vet if she heard of a certain breed of cat because my cat had similar markings. I specifically made a point to say I know he is not that breed but thought it was cool he resembled that breed and the vet said in a not pleasant tone I hate to break it to you but hes just an average alley cat. Really? I know hes just a domestic cat. I was making conversation. I never write reviews but this has been bothering me so much. I brought my experience up to a few different people and couldnt believe they had similar experiences. Those people now bring their animals somewhere else and so will I.
I have never had a bad experience at Animal Kingdom and can only imagine that the other people giving poor reviews are maybe thinking of the OTHER animal hospital on the Island know for having a bad attitude and charging outrageous prices. We first went to Dr Ruth when our regular vet couldnt get us in many years ago. Our old dog Boomer had had constant ear infections his whole life, he smelled bad and was always itchy. But we loved him so our family spent thousands trying to treat him at our previous vet. He always seemed ok with meds but never got really better. At our first visit with Dr Ruth she suggested a blood test for his thyroid and we found out this was his underlying problem. Our other vet never even mentioned it!!! With the proper meds his ears cleared up, he didnt smell anymore and even lost weight. We were so grateful that he was finally comfortable for his last years. Our daughter brings her cats to this vet and weve been bringing or new dog Kaylee here too. The staff is always friendly and super helpful and the vet are honest and straight forward which he all really appreciate.
Not very friendly and the vet looked at my cats eye for 20 seconds, gave her a shot and eye drops to clear up her infection. Did not work. $200 visit and when I called to say so, they of course said I could come back in, pay for ANOTHER exam (20 seconds again Im sure). No thank you. Ill find a vet who actually cares.
I called to ask about possible surgery for my albino rat. I was rather coldly informed that they would not use their resources or time on a $2 rat. If I wanted to bring him in they could euthanize him though. Obviously this is only a business not at all concerned with animal care but with monetary interest.

2022-08-30Do not recommend. Lady on the phone was ignorant. I told her I couldnt do an appointment tomorrow I was only off work today. she turns around and calls my husband. Tells him I made an appointment for tomorrow. then calls me and tells me she needs a deposit for the appointment tomorrow. What kinda vet needs a deposit. Ive never hurd of that

2022-07-21Do not bring your ferret here. Im questioning if they are an actual exotic specialist, or at least someone who is experienced with a ferret.Besides them highly praising Marshall and Marshall ferret diet (equivalent to praising a puppy mill and an extemely low quality pellet literally filled with garbage for an obligate carnivore), they gave both distemper and rabies vaccine to one of my ferrets in one visit not even 15-20 minutes in between to administer if she wasnt allergic or having a bad reaction. One of my ferrets got very sick for couple days after the vaccine and its a shame I wasnt informed anything on such thing initially. THANK GOD she is okay, but after learning how common sense it was to be cautious with vaccinating a ferret, this place is a definite no for me.

2022-04-01It has taken me almost 6 months to write this review. One star is actually too many! We brought Amici to see Dr. Rupert on a Thursday in October, 2021. He was pretty sick. We were told he likely hurt his back, needed rest and medications. False hope looking back on that day now. The next few days were beyond awful. Saturday morning we decided it was his time. He was getting more sick and was suffering. We called the office to get him in and told, “sorry we can’t fit you in today”. You can bring him in Monday at 3:15. Really…have him suffer a few more days…where is your heart?? We had to search to find another vet to put our dog down. It made a traumatic situation more traumatic. If you truly cared about Amici you would have made the time that Saturday to help him and us.When we called you Monday to cancel the 3:15 appointment you would think your office would acknowledge our loss with a card or some jester to say I am sorry for your loss.

2020-11-10Great vet! My dog was very sick and my regular vet couldnt see her. Dr Rupert was awesome and diagnosed her with something completely different than what the other vet said. She had been throwing up daily and was miserable. Dr Rupert prescribed the proper meds and now shes doing great!

2022-04-07When I purchased my bearded dragon 4 years ago it was recommended I bring my lizard here with any issues. I had to in the beginning and had a good experience here. However, at other vets, price is mentioned and discussed prior to them actually doing things, so you know what it costs. Here it isn’t. So ask!! After you see the vet… they go perform whatever task they say they’re going to do.. and dont come back to talk to you…. A tech does.Yesterday, I had to bring my bearded dragon here. She was diagnosed with dehydration/constipation and was given an enema…fluids… and I was given a laxative to give orally. I got home and the lizard died. Now….. I understand that things happen. I understand she was sick and maybe nothing would’ve saved her. Idk if there was a better treatment plan because ultimately I don’t know what killed her but……something hard was in her abdomen …what about an X-ray maybe? If an X-ray was offered, I would’ve said yes. Idk. I wasn’t given options. When you’re worried, you aren’t always thinking clearly and I definitely didn’t walk out thinking my lizard is going to go home and die, right after I received care... I called and told them she died… thinking maybe a vet would reach out… no…. Unless it’s something basic…. Maybe go to a diff place for bearded dragons… This wasn’t just a lizard to us, pets are family

2020-09-13*** I feel like I should follow this up with what went on after I left this review. I received an email from this clinic that was full of gaslighting and basically said that I agreed to receive these phone calls, which I never did. I never signed anything giving consent and I certainly wasnt informed by anyone that this would be happening. The email states that their other clients have always had the opportunity to opt out of receiving those calls, an opportunity I was not given t because I was never informed about my personal information being given out. I certainly would have opted out had I known.I changed my rating to one star because of this follow up. I really dont appreciate people lying. If this was an honest mistake or oversight, admit to it and we can have a real discussion and resolution to the issue but the emphasis seems to be on trying to convince me that I was mistaken the whole time and this is my fault. My husband was with me during the visit when we were sold the supplements. No one spoke to us about being contacted by the company and being pressured to buy more. No one requested permission to hand over my private information to a third party. No one gave me the opportunity to opt out, let alone be aware of what was happening. ***I had to come back and change my review after getting plagued by spam calls from a company that sells the supplements this vet recommended I try. They have been calling for months trying to get me to order more of their supplements. The vendor of these products confirmed that the vet clinic provided them with my private information. They did this without my knowledge and certainly without my permission.Im really disappointed over this. I want to feel that my information is guarded and kept confidential, I never want to chose between my privacy and the health of the animals in my care so we will never be returning to this clinic.Theyve provided decent enough care to the animals, although I spent hundreds of dollars for them to not get to the bottom of a problem and had to get a second opinion elsewhere which ended in an overnight emergency stay at another clinic. I was frustrated that I had to put my dog through so much just to get her help but I know vet work isnt easy. The animals cant tell us whats wrong so its difficult for everyone.Selling/providing my information to a third party vendor was the final straw for me. Thats putting affiliates and profits over the care if my animals and is unacceptable to me. We will not be returning.

2019-08-10I adore this office. I think the negative reviews are perhaps the other vet on grand island... Because none of them describe the experience here at all. Everyone is always friendly, caring, helpful, and sweet! And they never call my 15 lb cat fat. They always put cute things on her report like tubby and hefty. I moved from grand island and will continue to always use them for all my babies.
