We tried this place Sunday night on a whim because we had to leave our spot on the water because it was a little chilly. The place was empty, which should have been a sign, but it was actually very cute inside. We were hungry so we stayed. We ordered drinks which were good, Bellmore ice tea. The shrimp cocktail was $18 and you got 5 small (not jumbo shrimp) they did not taste very fresh either. The mussels were very tiny and had a fishy taste. My boyfriend liked his pasta dish with shrimp and clam sauce, but my shrimp Luciano was almost inedible except for the potatoes on the side. The shrimp was small and overcooked like it was already cooked before making the dish, the spinach was also over cooked and may have been frozen and a bunch of garlic was added to it, but really had no flavor. The server was nice, the owner or manager seemed friendly enough. The food was expensive and anytime I go out and think I could have made better it always feels like a waste of a good days pay. Either way I will not return here again. No we didn’t send anything back because in my experience if it’s at least edible it will not come out again any better. Overpriced and not good quality. I hope they seek a better chef and fresher seafood for the customers or it will not fare well in this struggling industry. There is so much better out there.
Anthonys is as good as it gets for legit authentic Italian food with GREAT, not rushed service.Let me say first, thanks to our server John for the exceptional service, and to Anthony the owner for introducing himself and making sure everything was perfect. Now onto the food.We started with a wedge salad, large enough to share and tasty with crumbled cheese and bacon bits. For entrees, I chose the Sunday Pot, Rigatoni with sausage, meatball, and bracciole, in a delicious red gravy, YES, I say gravy, and topped with a generous scoop of Ricotta which melted deliciously into the GRAVY!This was seriously as good or better than homemade, as they say, just like Grandma used to make, and the best Ive had in a long time. And an ample portion that of course I finished right down to scraping the bowl clean with the Italian bread. YUM!My other half had the Buccatini pasta with broccoli in a garlic and oil sauce, sprinkled with toasted and seasoned breadcrumbs that Anthonys calls sawdust. Another delicious and authentic choice. The Cabernet that we enjoyed with our meal was another great choice. And the Afogato dessert, a simple and not too common but delicious finale to our meal.We are both looking forward to returning and trying some other entrees as well.5 +++++ Stars for Anthonys!!!!
First visit we loved it. Returned New Years Eve with family. Got the rush the entire meal, tried to remove 1 plate 3 times! We were told we had table from 6-8pm, but were being pressured as early as 7:15pm. By the way, we ordered drinks, apps, meals dessert. Waiter was not friendly. Spend alot of $. Not happy. Wont be back.
What a wonderful wonderful restaurant !! We are so happy to have come upon this neighborhood gem. Every single thing we ordered was delicious (and it was hard to decide bc everything sounded amazing!) It has an intimate and welcoming dining room and the owner was lovely. We can’t wait to go back !
Great local Italian-American restaurant with delicious and freshly prepared food favorites and genuinely friendly customer service. They have parking in the rear and there is a nearby shopping plaza with ample parking that I assume one may use- check with the restaurant upon arrival. Louis, greeted us with a big friendly smile and he immediately seated us at the table of our choice. Our host and server Dina was spectacular! She was very cheerful, obliging and happy to help and provided us with world-class service. They offer a balanced menu and everything that moves around you looks and smells so good! The restaurant is very cozy with the correct amount of lighting, music genres and volume level. The bathroom is kept clean. For an entree, we both selected menu specials that they offered which change weekly. I had the Salmon Basilico and my wife had the Chicken Giardino. Dina immediately provided us with fresh baked bread which we coupled with Authentic Italian Olive Oil from Italy, lots of black pepper and a dash of salt to dip in. For our beverages, we had water with no ice and we each had a bottle of beer. Surprisingly, they offer no craft beer products which I am a huge fan of. However, they do offer Stella Artois and Peroni which you cannot go wrong with. I had the Stella Artois and my wife had a Peroni. Both dishes were outstanding, seasoned and cooked to perfection and the presentation was beautiful. The meat and vegetables were fresh and the sauces in both dishes were extremely tasty and not overpowering. My wife and I were to full too eat any of their delicious sounding desert items. All of their portions were generous and the appropriate size so come hungry and definitely request Dina as your server even if you have to wait!In closing, we always share our meals so we have two opinions about any particular dish and our empty plates essentially tell the story. Enjoy your meal and service at Anthonys Kitchen and Cocktails or order it to go! - Chuck Whigham

2022-05-08Anthonys was amazing. Great place, Anthony is very personable with everyone. Great service, delicious food. We had 5 different appetizers, everyone had main courses from stuffed veal, to the pork chop Sinatra, Grandmas veal, and lamb chops and every dish was fresh, great spread Anthony put out. Our waiter John was great and the bartender was on point with the espresso martinis. Great place we will be back.

2022-03-16We were looking for a local place for dinner and landed on a relatively new place named ANTHONY’S KITCHEN & COCKTAILS in Belmore. It is on the NORTHSIDE OF MERRICK RD. next to Oz General Contracting, replacing the Morpheus Greek restaurant (Figure 1). The inside is modest and still has the Greek Restaurant vibe, a fun family place (Figure 2). We opened with a round of drinks which included a fine Cosmopolitan and a Woodford Reserve™ on the rocks; both were generous pours (Figure 3). The cocktail and wine menu is a deep list of the classic drinks and a good selection of wine both by the glass and bottle. The prices were remarkably moderate. The beverage menu should be added to their website, allowing folks to map out what they will be enjoying that night. The food menu is straightforward, with a broad selection of traditional Italian favorites (Figure 4).For starters, we had the Shrimp Cocktail and Grandma’s Meatball. The Shrimp Cocktail consisted of five medium-size shrimp on a bed of mixed greens accompanied by cocktail sauce (Figure 5). Grandma’s Meatball is large enough to share, beef only, Meatball resting on a simple marinara sauce and accompanied by a generous dollop of Ricotta cheese and some shredded lettuce (Figure 6). The Meatball was tender, juicy, good flavor, and well worth revisiting. For mains, we had the Grandma’s Veal (Figure 7) and the Stuffed Veal Chop (Figure 8). Grandma’s Veal is a perfectly cooked generous portion of thin coated Veal. The accompanying sauce, wine, and lemon with butter and diced tomatoes. Plated with the Veal was sautéed spinach that complimented the Veal perfectly. The stuffed Veal was a large veal chopped pocketed and filled with Mozzarella, Prosciutto, and spinach, then finished with a light brown gravy including Mushrooms and Onions. The chop is plated with grilled asparagus and roast red potatoes. One could think of this dish as a slightly lighter take on a Veal Chop Valdostano one of my favorites but at a more modest price. The veal dish was paired with a glass of Dumini Amarone, which was a generous pour and complimented the heavy dish very well.Regrettably, we had no room for any desserts as the meal was so good and very filling, so we will need to return and explore the dessert the next time. Anthony’s was a pleasant local find and surprise. Good food, good service, good drinks, and all for a very modest price. We are looking forward to many more visits.

2021-02-06My wife and I went at the urging of a friend for a date night. Hard to come by those these days. Boy, are we glad we chose to spend it at Anthony’s. The ambiance is perfect. Warm, quiet, friendly(we were there at 6:45pm last night, Friday). We started with drinks. I got their take on an Old Fashioned that has Malbec added. It adds a tiny bit of fruit and was delicious from the first sip. My wife got the “Anthony’s Mule”. Bright, crisp, nice snap to the tongue. A perfect take on a Moscow mule.We got the sautéed artichokes in Francaise sauce as an app. Oh my lord, they were perfect. Just the right balance of salt, lemon, and a creamy for days. Our entrees were the veal special(can’t remember the name) and the Chicken Marena(I think that was the name. Both were on the specials menu). It’s chicken over a bed of risotto with a combination of olives, tomatoes, asparagus, and a special sauce. My description doesn’t do it justice. Moist chicken, the risotto was creamy, and the overall dish was awesome. We didn’t know anything about the place before going, but it got busy by 7:30 or so. Obviously, we’ve been under a rock because it was hopping by the time we left so people in the area know it.Service was great. We had Richie and a gentleman whose name I didn’t get. They checked in on us the “right” amount of times for a romantic evening. We were never left waiting to order or interrupted mid-conversation. The drinks were actually their suggestions based on the liquors we like.I’m looking forward to getting back there as soon as we can get another date night away from the little ones. If you haven’t been, then go with confidence.

2020-09-13My friend and I needed a girls night out. We made a walk-in reservation at a previous restaurant but there was a 1.5-hour wait. We decided to drive around the island.By chance, we were passing Anthony’s kitchen and cocktail and we decided to stop in a check it out. From the moment we called, customer service was perfection and accurate. We entered the space, it was warm and everyone was welcoming. We had calamari for our appetizer, which was delicious. Smelled great, perfectly seasoned, and plated. The drinks were great and not too strong. My friend has a slight issue with a taste she didn’t like, the owner came over swiftly and resolved it to smoothly. The way Anthony and his staff treated us was fantastic.I would recommend this place a thousand times over and I plan on visiting again soon.Congratulations on your opening and I wish you so much success, Anthony.All-stars across the board!Sorry for my long review but this place deserved it☺️

2022-01-24What a wonderful restaurant. The food was great, wine list was nice and John the waiter was so nice. I felt like I knew him for 25 years. Anthony himself stopped at the table several times and made us all feel at home. Pork chop, pasta special, veal....all was great. Its a small place so go early and make a reservation. Valet parking was nice to see in such a small place, thank you!!!

2021-12-26I was looking for a different place to eat in the area and found this place. The food was pretty good and the staff was very nice. Waiter was great and no long waits. This place is not big as I thought it was. Good place for two or a small party. Good spot for a dinner.. Parking can be a bit of a problem. I would come here again.

2022-03-26The Restaurant is small and so loud , we asked the owner Anthony , short , heavy set guy to please lower music, we were all yelling to talk. He was so rude , told me that was his atmosphere and pretty much if you don’t like it leave . He was so unprofessional , and has a flipping attitude . I would not recommend this restaurant ..

2022-01-05Excellent local option. Been there twice with my wife. Both times food and drinks didnt disappoint. My biggest problem is deciding between the pork chop Sinatra and the stuffed veal chop when Im there. Both are excellent. We will be back.
