This place is amazing. We stopped by for dinner before we went to an off-broadway show and the food blew our minds.First of all, coming in, it is a small place, but don’t let that worry you. The service was immediately warm and welcoming, and we put in drink orders. The sangria was refreshing and not too sweet. Our waiter was also quick to answer our many questions about the menu (because we knew basically nothing about Ecuadorian food prior to eating here), and we settled on our entrees as chancho del nano, which is a roast pork in a beer and lime sauce, and seco de chivo, which is goat stewed in a sauce made from a sour Ecuadorian fruit. Our entrees were incredible. The meat was tender, and both entrees had incredible flavorful sauce. I truly felt like it was home-cooked food made with love (but presented very artfully!).We also asked our waiter for a coffee whiskey drink because we had been up since 4 am to get on a flight and still had several hours to go that evening, and he was super nice to brew coffee specifically for us and to bring us a full coffee service with creamer and sugar, which we did not expect at all.In sum, the food and service knocked this meal out of the park—definitely exceeded our expectations. We plan to return.
I took my father & cousin to try this Ecuadorian restaurant (both born & raised in Guayaquil Ecuador) they had the Caldo de Bola. Unfortunately they were not to pleased with it but they tried it out. I did enjoy the seco de pollo but my opinion is try it out yourself.
Excellent Latin food. The pan seared pork was super juicy and tender. The seafood gazpacho was a perfect blend of spices and not too fishy. The place is small so could be a wait at peak hours. Waiter is super attentive. The cocktails and mock tails were wonderful, especially those who like something sweet and fruity (they used real fruit juice)
A nice place to enjoy some Ecuadorean food and vibe. Can’t say if the taste is authentic or not but we ordered soup and pork entree. The soup was a little bland but the pork was delicious with many different flavours: sweet, sour, savoury. The hot chili sauce was so yummy! You gotta ask for some!! Price was mid-range.
Great experience!!! The food was more than amazing, the staff super attentive. Abel provided a great service. Highly recommend the appletinis!!! The Bolon was breath taking (starter)!!! And the Saco de Pollo was delicious, definitely going back soon!!! This is a very small location but it’s very cozy and you will have a great time for sure!!! (All the food looked delicious)
There arent many Ecuadorian restaurants, so when we found this one, we were elated. The food is fantastic, we had the Caldo de Bola as it was delicious. Make sure you get their sangria to go with the meal, perfect complement. The staff was friendly and professional. It is a fairly small space, even by NY standards, so call ahead or go during not so busy times.
The food was very good, but the service is so slow. The waiter was very nice, but took 10 min just to come to our table and ask us what drinks we wanted. We waited about 40 minutes for our meal even though there were only 2 other couples having dinner. Come if you have plenty of time, and do order the empanadas-they are soooo cheesy and delicious!
Poor customer service. The have some good meals and others are so bad. We made a reservation and showed up on time and the blame us for be on time because they have to mover other table. I know the place is very small but is just like they can take more of 2 people per table.
I had such an amazing experience at Nano tonight. Not only was my food incredible, the service was excellent. My waiter Aluna recommended my entire order, as it was my first time eating the cuisine, it was absolutely perfect. He chose the Encocado micro for me and it came to the table bubbling hot with a nice helping of rice. They don’t skimp on the meats and it tastes delightful. I was full and couldn’t stop eating! I will definitely be back.Thank you, Aluna, for excellent service and Nano for excellent food it a cozy little NY spot 💋
The food wasnt that great an VERY EXPESIVE FOR TWO BEERS, ONE CAN SODA AND THREE ENTRY WE PAID $145.00. THE SAME ORDER.IN.ANOTHER RESTAURANT PLUS SODAS COFFEE AND 2 HUMITAS WE PAID $75.54. AT ÑAÑOSWe have the tables outside of the restaurant and top of everything was very cold those fan Heathers did not did the job .
Decent food - I got the Tonga, which was the chicken yellow rice wrapped in banana leaf with peanut sauce. The banana leaf really enhanced the flavor of the dish, and overall, I enjoyed my food. Because its a small restaurant, the service was a bit slow and if you go on a Friday night - which we did, it could get very loud as they out the tables very close to each other.
My partner and I entered the restaurant just a few minutes after the kitchen closed but they still took our order. All the staff members were very friendly and attentive. The food and drinks were delicious. We order a canelazo which had an authentic flavor. I have to admit it is somewhat pricey but it’s worth the money. You get what you pay for.
The food is always so good and consistent here! I’ve been going here/getting take out for several years now. It seems they’ve done some rebranding and are trying to be a bit more upscale now. All of the food is $5-$10 more expensive than it used to be. Not a huge deal but a shame they’re making such delicious food less accessible!
I used to go here before the pandemic every time I missed home! The food is really good. A month ago I went for brunch…. I’m not sure what happened, if it changed owner or what but the vibe was different and it was pretty disorganized. The variety in the menu for brunch at least…. Wasn’t good…. It was most of the same thing with different presentation…. Made me sad! :(
I didnt like the treatment they gave us even though we where spending money and pay a bill of more than 500 of 4 people they literally kick us out to sit other people on our table and told us the kitchen is closed but after we getting out we saw the kitchen was open and they where serving drinks
Came by this place since we were in the neighborhood for a show, and it was an amazing find (and also on Open Table!) The place is really tiny but cozy and well decorated, and the service is extremely friendly and attentive. Everything about the service and the food make you feel like youre eating at someones house and getting home cooked food straight from their kitchen. When seated, we were presented with a bowl of plantain chips and green salsa - the salsa was really sour and extremely addictive. We had the shrimp ceviche, the caldo de bolas soup, the pork entree, and the orange zest chicken entree, along with two cocktails (they have their liquor license now!). Everything was delicious. The shrimp had the perfect doneness, the pork entree came with a delicious sauce, mashed yucca, and salad, and the chicken was tasty with the same sides. The cocktails were made by our waitress, and they were really well mixed and easy to drink (and gorgeously presented). The thing that was the biggest highlight for me, though,w as the caldo de bolas soup - a rich beef soup with yucca and green plantain dumplings filled with hard boiled eggs, vegetables, raisins, and beef. The taste was so complex, hearty, and delicious - its really hard to describe unless youve actually had it, but I highly recommend it. Id come back here just for this soup!Would highly recommend this place for couples or pairs, but a party any larger than four may be a bit difficult since seating is limited. So delicious!
FROM AN ECUADORIAN: I had low expectations for this place because I have only ever trusted Queens for authentic Ecuadorian food but this restaurant exceeded my expectations. I promise you its delicious and I even like it better than some restaurants in Queens!! Its pricey, yes, but worth it. Will go again.
Server named Alfonzo. Incredible guy with the best smile even through the use of a face mask:) Alfonzo recommended I try the Seco de pollo as that was a popular choice dish. It came served alongside a bump of yellow rice prefectly prepared, a few dashes of avocado strips and two platano maduros. The helping of protein was extremely generous if maybe the additions were alil subtle. In all, from other presentation of plates at other tables Id have to recommend trying this destination delight. The chef absolutely prepares dishes with flare and flavor and you will stop and stare purely from aroma. Hidden gem and worth the expedition.
An amazing place! We always wanted to find an authentic Ecuadorian restaurant in Manhattan and Ñaño did not disappoint. Every dish was delicious. The drinks were excellent and the service top notch. The owner is so warm and friendly and treats you like family. The restaurant is small but super cozy. We had a wonderful time here and cant wait to return.
With a balance of good food and service, regardless of which options you decide on, this is a great place for lunch and dinner.I have tried many dishes here and one of my favorites is the SECO DE POLLO. If you like stewed chicken, this one is a winner. For a quick appetizer before your meal, I would suggest trying the YAPINGACHOS or TORTILLA DE VERDE (EMPANADA).If you are in the mood for a drink, be sure to check out their selection. I lean towards sour tastes, so I order the ÑAÑO AGRIO.If you have a craving for something sweet, they have FLAN and TRES LECHES. Each a tasty option to compliment your meal.
Very small, cozy spot with fantastic food. Everything we ordered was great, I had the ceviche and could barely finish it - its not one of those restaurants where you pay $30 for a small dessert plate portion. The mixed drinks were also creative. The owner is incredibly thoughtful and nice too
Having been to Ecuador many times, I can safely say the food here is very good and close to authentic. The drinks are also great and average priced. Friendly staff with a tendency to hover because this place is so teeny. Best to make reservations, we didnt get a seat the first time we tried to eat here.
I loved this small and well decorated restaurant. Although the food was small in portion, the taste was unbeatable. I hope to go back and try their daily special that included an appetizer, entree, dessert, and unlimited drinks for just $45. Im definitely going back soon!
This place had some high reviews and thats why I took mother and entire family there for my moms birthday. We were less than happy. We are Ecuadorians living in the states, we hoped for food that reminded us of home. We did not find it here. Everything was salty, cold, burnt, and or flavorless, not to mention, absolutely overpriced for the quality. There was only one person working at this tiny, super tiny place and he was alright. My guess is that he didnt cook that himself. I felt awful bringing my family there. They barely ate their food. Lesson learned.

Hidden gem from the outside - down an unassuming block and easy to miss! A really small restaurant, but very authentic.Unfortunately, authentic doesnt always mean that the food is great and worth travelling for. The food was OK, hence the 3 stars. Pricing was average, and service was average, so for me this is not a place to travel for to dine. But if youre in the area and hankering for Ecuadorian food - why not?
We wanted to try ecuadorian food for the first time. We found Nano and decided, given its reviews, that this would be it. We arrived 15 minutes early and were able to be seated. First impression was great, but wow, the place is so small!!! you literally cannot seat more than 15-18 people (we counted the seats). They give you essentially hour slots to keep traffic moving and it seems to work well. This works well because the food comes out in about 10-15 minutes at the most. It was delicious and well presented! The food was nice and hot, we really enjoyed it. The bathroom is small but nicely decorated and the sole staff member does a good job of catering to all the tables at once. Great place to visit!
Went for dinner with my wife. Ordered some drinks, appetizers and a main course. The traditional drinks made were awesome as well as the food. Service was friendly and prompt. The restaurant has a few tables but we didnt have problems finding a place to sit. The prices were decent. Not cheap but alright. Recommend.
My wife is an immigrant from Manta Ecuador and is extremely picky about her countries food. She absolutely loved this small little place! The food and service was outstanding and authentic. The alcohol selection was a little small, this is an extremely small restaurant, I would suggest getting a reservation in order to get a seat.
Service and Food were both excellent. My first time eating Ecuadorian food so I dont know if it is good Ecuadorian but very similar to very good Peruvian food I have had in the past. The prices were good for anywhere much less NYC. I wish I would be able to go back but I doubt I will ever go back to NYC but if I ever do I will definitely go bac here.
I have been a loyal customer for 2 years. Whether dining there or getting delivery, the sushi has always been very good and reasonably priced for the neighborhood. However, over the last few months things have been going down hill very fast. Usually I would not post a review but I couldnt let all of this pass.
This place had very friendly service and was not afraid to show their support of the LGBT community with their rainbow flags flying so I applaud them for that. The only problem was the food was just kind of bland. It wasnt bad, but it wasnt like any Ecuadorian food Id had before and that includes in Ecuador itself.
I visited in March 2017 while in NYC. There are no Ecuadorian restaurants where I live and looked forward to eating delicious food. I was not disappointed. Food was authentic and filling and the restaurant had a cozy atmosphere. We were lucky to find a seat on a Saturday afternoon (only 5 tables in the restaurant). Our server was attentive and very courteous.
I passed by walking from school (JJAY) and vowed to come here, then the pandemic happened. It hasnt stopped this place from churning out delicious, authentic Ecuadorian food. I come here whenever I have a Drs appt uptown (which is a lot lately) and even brought my dad on Tuesday, and he loves it too. Theres honestly enough for two meals in their 10$ plate its so generous, but I recomend eating it all yourself!! It reminds me of back home entirely, cazuela, sopa de bolas, and seco de pollo are all amazing.
Want a hearty meal, Authentic Latin Cuisine, intimate and inviting scene !? Its here ! Food is made on the spot - so it doesnt have a fast food vibe ... and its cozy😊😁 ... in ÑaÑo theres a little something for everyone... I love breakfast for dinner and to see their breakfast options were still available at 5pm I was hooked🤭😏 and you are allowed to tailor (I only eat egg whites) - getting my meal, food to price ratio more than satisfying 😋 👌.Now:---this food is Heavy Hearty - ITIS LIKE A MUHG!🥴---i personally wasnt familiar w/ the drinks on menu--- they were more than happy to tailor a drink for me 😚😊 and the mixologist NAILED IT!
I don’t recommend this place at all. as an Ecuadorian born and raised in Ecuador, I can tell you, That the food is overpriced, expensive and not fresh. I had “muchines de yuca” as an appetizer. The owner claimed these muchines to be homemade when in fact they were frozen and didn’t taste fresh at all. Hot on the outside and cold on the inside. Every single entree tasted as if they were seasoned with Goya a little bit of salt and nothing else. To finish I had an orange juice which was literally Tropicana juice. It costs $7 a glass!! The entire experience was so bad and regret taking my friend there. We paid $80 for food that didn’t taste good and were uncomfortable because the place is so narrow. Avoid spending your money here. It’s a total scam.
Excellent food excellent environment. Ive never been to a restaurant where they actually treat you on a one to one relationship even by name. Its the little things that count. Food was top notch, prices were surprinsingly low, service was the best Ive had, and the music being hispanic was an excellent selection. Highly recommended!
I went to this location on Mothers day, no reservation was made however the waiter told my group there would be a table would be a table available within 30-45 minutes. They took our phone number and told us theyd call us within that time. My group went to a bar nearby to wait it out. Over an hour later they had not called us back so we called them. They told us they would have a table within 30min. It was raining and it was mothers day. We said no thank you. If you dont have available seating simply let us know so we can look elsewhere instead of giving us the run around.
A really great find for Ecuadorian food. I dont have much experience with this cuisine but the Seco de Pollo I had was really delicious. The rice and chicken itself was well cooked with an interesting sour/sweet/savory flavor that was complemented by the perfectly cooked rice. The service was great, although the place is tiny with just a few tables. Would recommend coming at off-peak hours and getting a few appetizers as well as the seco de pollo.
Great food and cozy atmosphere. Their seco de pollo is highly recommended. Another favorite of mine was carne en palito, but unfortunately theyve removed that as a main course and only have an appetizer under the same name, which is not the same thing. Lomito salteado is also delicious.
We were there today as a birthday celebrations good friend, like ñañas everything was good. We love the cholita cocktail, cazuela mixta, my Mothers steak ( with rice and lentils), caldo de bola. The birthday girl always love this restaurant when is about no cooking for us and has to be ECUADORIAN FOOD.
I had been wanting to try Nano Ecuadorian Kitchen for quite some time now. My boyfriend had suggested that we come here for dinner one night, since he had been before and he really enjoyed the food. We arrived at around 7 pm on a Tuesday, put our names, and were told it would be about an hour late and we will receive a text when our table would be ready. We got that text within a half an hour or so, which is pretty surprising, considering that the entire restaurant seats probably about 12 people. To start off, we ordered a couple of cocktails and an aguardiente yellow roof shot. Aguardiente, is an alcoholic beverage, containing between 29% and 60% ABV. Ecuadorian aguardiente is derived from sugar cane. I had never heard of it before, so I wanted to taste the liquor itself (sans cocktail ingredients) to gage whether or not I would like it. It almost reminded me of a sweet vodka. I had the Guavardiente (aguardiente, apple soda, guava juice) and really liked it. Im not normally a fan of cocktails because Im always afraid theyll make it too sweet. That was not the case here. I couldnt really taste the apple soda but the guava juice and aguardiente went well together.Dishes are on the pricier side but you do get a really big portion. We both ended up having leftovers. I had the Chaulafán (shrimp, calamari, pork, chicken, veggies, soy sauce fried rice). Be careful not to mix all of the soy sauce in or it might be too salty. Other than that, there were a lot of great flavors, and all of the ingredients tasted fresh. He got the special of the day, which was a whole roasted chicken. I was expecting it to be dry, as it typically is in these circumstances, but the chicken was actually extremely tender.Id deffo pay Nano another visit and perhaps try some of their other expertly-made cocktails - possible with a side of ceviche, or one of their other dishes.
Was just sitting here after cooking dinner and the husband and I started mentioning how we oughta come back to NYC JUST for some Nanos ❤️❤️❤️ We stopped for breakfast the day before our cruise and I knew I was in love when I caught myself using both fork and knife to shovel food in my face!! I legit have dreamed about their food!! YALL ARE AMAZING!!
This section of hells kitchen has a plethora of Latino restaurants, but this one might surprise you, as it did me. Never having tried Ecuadorian food, I assumed it was just a variant on Mexican. The place is very small, maybe six tables. On warm days the front is open. Christopher, the host on this Sunday, guided us through the menu with pride and signs of passion for his native cuisine. We chose the secco de pollo with rice and sauteed plantains, and the lomito salteado. Both were excellent with surprisingly subtle flavors. Not spicy at all, but full bodied.Really unique cuisine expertly prepared and served with friendship.
First timer here but heard nothing but great things about the food and service. Its a lil intimate 7 or 8 table spot with incredible food. We had the Fritada and Lomito salteado which was to die for. Staff was amazing and this will now be my frequent flyer spot for sure cus i must try the whole menu asap.... I give them 5 stars!
Of all my years of going to Manhattan restaurants, this was by far my worst experience. My boyfriend made a 7:30pm reservation for dinner. I arrived at 7:33pm, he was running a few minutes late. I asked the guy at the front desk if I could sit at our reserved table, which was empty, and order a drink. He mentioned that both parties have to be there to be seated. Its a tiny place and it was cold outside so I was just waiting by the door. Then I saw there was a guy sitting down texting and waiting for his dinner guest too, then 5 minutes later his phone rings and he picks up and instructs his friend its just right outside and he gets up and goes outside to meet his friend. At this point I decided to ask one of the guys there as to why the other guy was allowed to be sited and I was refused. He says it was a misunderstanding that the guy was actually sited with a lady and the lady stepped out and is coming back. At this point I looked at and saw that the other customers friend was actually a guy and realized why would he have to give phone instructions to his lady friend that just left him. This guy was lying to me. So I asked for an explanation, the guy was very rude. Never apologized, never explained as to why he treated his customers differently. He said lady what do you want to be seated you can. I said no, I would like an explanation as to why you lied? I said, I will leave a negative review, he then said then I cant serve you. I cant comment about the food but this was horrible service.
Very tasty Comida Casera presented in a diminutive space where, like with so many Manhattan establishments, the path to the restroom is generally via the kitchen.Good diversity on the menu - presenting vegetarian (not vegan) fare in addition to fish, fowl and meat entrees.Suitable for groups of 6 (absolute max) or less - but 4 and 2 tops are certainly comfortable.Inside/outside dining - Ecuadorian flair. Check out the pictures for additional insight.
Of all the restaurants, bars, diners etc. visited during our stay, this quaint small restaurant serves fantastic tasting food, the best service in our three weeks in the states, and value for money second to none. Big smiley from me.... :-) :-) :-)(Thanks, Laura & Abel for you great hospitality)
Nano is delicious and unpretentious food. Try the tortillas de verde (crisp, lightly fried plantain patties stuffed with an oozy cheese), Seco de Pollo ( a sweet and sour chicken stew served alongside rice and plantains) and Sudado Mixto (piping hot tomato-based shrimp casserole)

2022-04-03Tasty foods🇪🇨 Ingredients were simple, plantains, potatoes and eggs and just so delicious and healthy! Lamb rice was perfect, meat was well cooked and tender, like the sauce very much! Of course Tres leches cake for a perfect ending. Good proportion for two people👌 Restaurant was cozy, has outdoor seats. The location wasn’t too far from a subway station, easy to access! Prices are lovely too.We were staying too late, just a kindly reminder that to make sure the plates were empty then to clean the table. Still a wonderful late meal~

2022-07-05For those who would like to try Ecuadorian food and above all have the experience of its food and people (quality) El ñaño is the best place in New York, the attention is spectacular and fast, the food is very fresh and delicious, the owner is very friendly and always makes sure you are having a good time! I told him I was from Manabi and he was so excited that he played traditional music from my province and I felt at home! A place to come back

2022-04-03My friends and I had such a great experience here tonight. The staff was attentive and gracious (we might have been a *teeny* bit rowdy at times) and the margarita pitchers were amazing. We were a party of five people, and although we stayed for quite a while, we never felt rushed or pressured to give up our table. As others have said, the place is TINY and I think there was more seating outside than inside. However, I am a plus-size woman and I was comfortable at my table and felt like I had plenty of room despite the small space.I had the Seco de Pollo…the chicken was so tender and the sauce was amazing. I am not a plantain person at all, but I even found myself nibbling on those.I can’t really say too much about what my dining companions ordered, and I’m not sure any of them are going to remember, because did I mention the lovely margarita pitchers? All in all, it was such a welcoming environment and the food and drinks were reasonably priced. We will definitely be back!

2022-08-05As always this little spot delivered an amazing experience. The cazuela mixta as always came out boiling hot and flavorful. I paired my meal with white sangria. The restaurant is tiny but now they do have outdoor patio which made it easier getting a table

I tried all of them and it was so delicious. Very healthy, light but tasty.I would definitely come back! Thanks for this wonderful experience😊

2022-03-12Very cozy (small) restaurant serving excellent Ecuadorian dishes. Service was really friendly and if you are not familiar with this cuisine they were happy to explain and make recommendations. Expect to spend some extra time here waiting on your food as its all made fresh and I suspect a small kitchen. We had about 45 minutes wait on lunch. However they have a nice drink selection to tide you over with reasonable prices on cocktails and beer.

2022-03-21I turned 31 this year. I wanted to celebrate not only my birth but my upbringing. Food is so personal and Celebrating at Ñaños Ecuadorian kitchen was reminiscent of my childhood. My aunt taught me about my heritage with foodExcellent empanadas and excellent food! Order the Ñina Piña. #churrassco
