Okay I won’t say this store deserves a 0 but yeah it does deserves a 1. Things use to be cheap and some things are still cheap but now they are turning it pricey. Not only that there are a lot of things that I have seen expired. So my suggestion is before buying anything make sure to see the expiration date as it can be expired and very moldy with fungus, and later when you come back to return that item even with receipt they won’t return or refund. You have to be really careful while shopping here and plus people have no social distance here so don’t bring your kids!
I wish I gave this place - infinity stars. I happen to walk into the store for the second time the same day when all of the sudden one of the workers loses his cool at me, calls me crazy after I ask for something. Then I hop on a phone call, spoke Arabic over the phone, the same worker who screamed at me with the cap backwards and a vest follows me around and at one of the aisles he calls back up claiming I was in the store for 2 hours when in reality I was in there for 7 mins. Both workers who were Indian or Bangladeshi screamed at me while I was calm trying to explain I was here for 10 mins and not 2 hours but I ended up getting kicked out. If this store is business, why treat other people with different ethnicity differently?
I honestly can’t rate this place any less than 5 star.I’ve been coming here for the past 22 years, since when I was a kid. I used to shop here with my family. I still remember my father teaching me how to pick the right vegetables lol. Every time I go there, it reminds me of my father. My father is gone now but the memories remained 😪Anyway you could almost find any desi house items, groceries and vegetables, fruits here and it’s always fresh. The employees are great some are really friendly, however you can’t really rate this store by employees because they are always changing, but I good say great job. Recently they expended the store because Sabzi Mandi has closedown, so they took their spot. It was already huge now it’s even bigger.Who ever is managing this place is doing a great job. Keep it up 👍
I am never coming back to this shop again. They are thieves and keep one or two items after payment and the lady in the cash counter shouts with customer when she was asked politely, on top saying this is customer’s fault and started behaving bad with the customer. They handover the bags to customer and rush through because of long queues and not having enough counters or places in the supermarket moreover they are saying it is customer’s fault, like really!! Some more the management do not even look after how is their workers are behaving with the customers and how racist they are towards non indian customers!! It previously happened to me and today again same mistake of not giving the paid goods on my hand and do not even know how many times it happened before as I never checked!! Let’s say even mistakenly if customers left things then they can unpacked that and kept back in the shelves!! I do not understand really why no authority to audit this type of miscreants in USA! Also Management must not hire thieves and bad behaving racist people as this is USA not India and law is equal for all. Remember nobody will get away harassing the customers.
My husband and I visit every APNA Bazaar in every city we visit and this one in Jackson Heights is by far the best weve ever visited. They have SO much stock and absolutely everything we need for cooking. The prices were the best of any Indian store weve visited and we have visited a LOT of Indian Bazaars... we were absolutely thrilled with this store. If we ever have the opportunity, we will definitely go back. If anyone is living in the area- go to this store- you will be SO happy you did.
During the day, its really busy and theres lots of cashiers on staff to help with the checkout to make things as quick as possible. At night after 9pm, however, it can still be really busy and theres only a handful(maybe less) of cashiers on staff working checkout. The lines tend to be long and the wait to get to the front tends to be even longer. This location always has what I need though, so its worth the wait, sort of.
I was very disappointed to see how rude the behavior of most of the staffS, especially the manager with Bangladeshi people. Almost 80% of their customers are Bangladeshi. Every time I asked their staffs for any help they either ignore me or was rude talking to me. I felt discriminated and I think the reason is my nationality. The wired thing about this place is although majority of their customers are Bangladeshi but they haven’t hired a single Bangladeshi staff although they have Spanish people working for them. When a Bangladeshi customers try to communicate with them he/she either has to use Hindi or English to talk to them. Their staffs won’t use a single Bengali word to make it easy for their customer. I think unless they learn some Bengali to communicate or stop being rude, Bangladeshi people should avoid this place to shop.
I wish I could give them zero stars don’t even deserve one star.Selling expired with foul smell and bitter Paneer spoke to manager for exchange.Manager was rude to my wife refused to take care of legitimate situation selling Paneer expired on 4th Mar, 2020 on 9th April,2020.Manager kept telling No Exchange even after telling him about the expired product which they were selling. Had to call the cops. I would recommend everyone not to buy products from them. The entire staff is rude and uncooperative.
I purchased one of the spices on march 15 that they are selling over price. I went back to store next day exchange thay item but they refused to exchange it. I spoke with store manager SHARMA and show that receipt. On recipet clearly say refund or exchange with 7 days but he refused.
The MEAT department ( Mamas Halal Meats Inc {ms. choi} ) are apparently making too much money. The butchers are not trained to listen to customer requirements. You could spend $40 on goat meat and they dont care to listen to how you want it carved or dressed. Plus butchers are not trained to cut meat the way it should be done. Everything is curry cut in odd shapes and sized, as if cutting red meat was like cutting wood.
Great local spot for Indian food ingredients. Prices are the most reasonable Ive seen in NYC. $.99 avocados and eggplant less than $1 per pound. Its a bit of a hike to Jackson Heights from the city, but its worth it. Accept cash and credit including AMEX. Parking is difficult, but its very close to the E and F line.
I hate to do this, but I have to call racist on Apnabazar . Ive been shopping here for almost 15 years, but a few days ago I had the rudest encounter. I complained their Manager and owner but no response. I am exactly writing the phrase they told me. You Bangladeshi are disgusting and whatever my cashier did is right. All I requested the cashier not to throw stuff and please make the bag double because 10 pounds rice bag is heavy. I proud to be a Bangladeshi and my humble request to all Bangladeshi people who live in USA please dont go Apnabazar. If you spend a dollar at Apnabazar, you are just insulting your motherland.
1. Quality. Broken biscuits bags. Dirty racks.Frozen items price is different written andThe tagged one.2. Appeal. It doesnt appeal to be a good store. Nobody care for this. The employees pose as an owner, wrinkles on their faces, keep their arms in their armpit, if someone asks for help for any item help, first of theythey dont listen and wrongly direct.3. Service. Service is poor. I think the store policy is eating first then the customer. The cashier should be given time to eat outside instead of sitting down and start eating with their register open. If the customer ask them for charge, the cashier in a bad mood say you dont see I am eating go to another one. When there is everyone is owner, where the owner will go.Poor management.
I bought a large pack of mixed nuts home from apna bazar. When I went to go open it there were bugs in it and larvae! I had taken the package back to apna bazar to switch it out and found bugs in that one too! Upon this discovery, I informed the manager that this is a health issue and they should do something about that since it was a multiple occurence for me but the manager nonchalantly said it was not a big deal and that he would take care of it. He DID NOT seemed to be bothered that almost all the bags of mixed nuts had bugs in them! Double check your items from here as they might be infested. This is not ok at all!

2021-09-02Isles are too congested. Fruits are not that fresh most of the time. Vegetables and spices are much better compared to other items. Frozen fish is available but fridges are not well maintain to keep frozen fish in good condition. They have the most widest variety of rice that Ive seen so far. Price of the goods is very much competitive to any other store where bangladeshi, indian and Pakistani grocery is available.Sidewalk on both sides are occupied by them and rarely it is been cleaned.

2022-02-05This outlet has a large variety of veggies and fruits and other items. However you won’t find any MDH or EVEREST spices here . Also everything is in bulk/wholesale packets not prices though!Cold cut seems like a nightmare . I showed & told the person to cut a particular Raan. He pointed too but when I reached home I was given the meat that I use to serve dogs !However , the Sikh guy outside the store near the green coconut stack is pretty helpful and courteous and other senior staff as well.Ladies staff are courteous too. Only the two store looks a little messed up , over crowded & dirty .Recommend only in desperate needs due to prices

2022-05-04I dropped in here by chance when passing by to get some food but was appalled by the inappropriate attitude of the shop’s manager Kumar. Managers are supposed to be welcoming and considerate, but Kumar is clearly an exception to the rule and can’t care less about his customers and the shop’s reputation. It’s a shame that a lot of hard work is put into maintaining this store with so many entrepreneurs supplying their precious products here, but managers like Kumar completely nullify their value and fail to represent it with dignity and respect.

2018-08-18The store is alright. Quite cheap abd fresh fruit and vegetable. There are bunch different spices, chutneys. Some staff can be expired, so just check the dates before buying. Also, what I dont like is that you cant find prices on some products till you go to cashier. What I like is the store is open 24 hours and prices are good.

2019-11-12Always a pleasure coming to this supermarket. I love how they have fresh produces. People who work there are very welcoming and helpful. I love all the Indian snacks that they carry. Would definitely recommend everyone to go and fresh produces and snacks plus they have halal meat there as well.

2021-03-24This is a 3-star place, but i add 1-star for being 24/7 and 1-star for always stocking 15mo good tetley loose affordably (patel dropped this line). i echo most complaints here that employees are too busy and poor english to be much help, worse half the inventory isnt priced or shelf prices are not current and there is no customer self scan price kiosk, so you have to price check at a cashier which is impractical when they get busy. this really hurts their business because i would buy 50% more each visit if i knew what things would cost at checkout so i could actually comparison shop while walking the aisles. they dont sell Jyoti or other canned sides, only 9oz side packs from mtr, ashoka and haldirams (some are vegan). they do have an wide selection of low price asian rice varieties and bag sizes. i visit this bike friendly place every 4 months - sadly since their major renovation a few years ago, not much has improved here.

2021-03-27Apna is a supermarket with rather fair and efficient Customer Service and pricing. When Pandemics hit NYC in early 2020, almost all supermarkets had some sorts of logistics troubles which caused inventory and merchandise shortage and, then, price increase. Probably a few exception supermarkets in Queens is Apna which seems to be owned and managed by South Asians. The supermarkets mainly for sale of farm products [vegetable and fruit], mixed nuts, rice, flour, grain, dairy, south Asian bakeries, cooking ingredients, tea, and cooking equipment- did have human casualty or employees who were infected by Covid-19 virus, the supermarket closed a few days, set up plastics partitions in cashiers sections for Covid-19 risk management, changed inventory and delivery system, and it reopened to serve large number of customers in Jackson Heights and other Queens residents. To my surprise is that the supermarket did not raise any price on most food and non-food items from the beginning of the pandemics. Then, it seems that it also tries to source and sell any vegetable and fruit items, which are over production and supply, at even lower price in their stores. In recent days, Apana was selling blue berries at $ 1 for 4 6-oz containers and large naval orange at $ 2 for 5 oranges. and $ 3.99 for 4 pounds of chickpeas.I remember that in Mid May or June 2020, I did stand in line for a few supermarkets, including Key Food, Food Universe, and compare them to the price of Apana for low-fat Yogurt, eggs, and I was surprised that Apna was selling the same item- brand name and quantity- for about 30% to 40% lower in price.Apana does earn my respect for its customer-service consciousness and logistics efficient, and their fair pricing policy during Covid-19 pandemics.

2019-01-20First time coming back after they renovated the store and doubled their space. Compared to other Indian Supermarkets in the area, their vegetable prices were lower than what I had paid for 30 minutes ago. This should be your first stop and be happy with what you are getting as it is the same quality in Jackson Heights, but they have some much of it that they pass the savings onto the consumer.
