Rudest staff ever!! Although everything is so overpriced, I was going there because it is so close to my place. Two cashier women have always been rude to people, but today they passed the limit! Because I just did not understand what they said, they literally scolded me! Although my English is good, I had this experience, I can’t even imagine how they treat other international people who don’t know English well!! And when I told them that they are so rude, they even didn’t apologize and they became meaner!! Don’t go there!!! Never ever!! Besides the products are expired and spoiled!!!
Very large space, its like a grocery store, deli, salad bar, and CVS all rolled into one. I like you can make your own salad with any ingredients you want. There can be long waits, especially during lunch, so be warned if youre in a rush it.might not be the right place for you.
My favorite hot sandwich in the city. I havent been impressed with their cold sandwiches (you could easily make the same thing at home), but I havent had a bad hot sandwich from them, My favorite right now has grilled chicken, thick slices of fresh mozzarella, grilled red peppers, on a garlic-toasted hero. I eat it all the time.
Lovely shop; conveniently located which means turbo busy & staff remains pleasant & helpful. Love the prepped foods, particularly the pesto bow-tie pasta. Got a bad Califia cafe latte one time, brought it back & guy at register authorized quick replacement. Unbelievable variety here with all the essentials!
Not sure why I was followed out of the store after taking a photo of some Zyrtec for my boyfriend to see if it was the right kind. It wasn’t... so I put it back on the shelf and proceeded to the pharmacy next door. As I was walking down the street an employee followed me and asked if I had stolen the medicine. First of all, there is literally a camera directly above it. If he had been doing his job and watching it he would have clearly seen I put it back. I allowed him to check my bag and went on my way. My issue here is if I had stolen the Zyrtec why would I tell him I had and offer for him to check my bag immediately. You cannot follow customers a block outside of the store and question them. It’s frightening and anxiety inducing. I live across the street and buy ALL of my groceries here. I am a regular. Will not be coming back here, it’s overpriced anyway.
This place has some of the best customer service you’ll get in this area. The cashiers are always friendly and never rude. The prices are high, but on par with other grocery stores in the area. The only bad thing is that beggars often hang out in front of the store and bother people.
Coming from the suburbs, you might find this supermarket a little cramped and disorganized. However, they have a great selection of health foods and vegetarian/vegan delights if you can find them. A lot of the products dont have prices on them so you may be a little surprised when you hear your total at the check-out counter. I dont plan to frequent this grocery store because the prices are way too high ($6 for a 1 lb. bag of Jasmine rice - sheesh!) and my little fold-able shopping cart is still too big for aisles.
That is a hilarious photo that comes up for the store. Had a breakfast sandwich there today, which was good, but the chef clearly didnt hear me say to toast the bagel. The cashier didnt know the price and had to call the chef (via landline) in order to ring me out. Seems a little out of date. Other than that, worse selection for groceries than other markets in Morningside Heights. Hours arent great either, but it is the furthest south market on Amsterdam, making it the only choice at times.
I really like the Appletree Market because it is cute and convenient. I also love their baked goods, except that twice now Ive bought pastries from their deli/bakery department that are too stale to eat. One was a scone that was hard and crumbly, and today I bought a slice of carrot cake so stale I couldnt eat it. So that was a waste of money and I hope the store learns to rotate out its pastries as they age.
This is a good deli to pick up a few items if Im in a hurry. I wouldnt do any significant grocery shopping here though because its too expensive. Ive literally seen prices jump over a dollar on items in just a week. I also love that they resell Walmart branded items at a significant markup.
This 24 hour monopoly location seems to have become oblivious to the comfortably seated and dressed panhandlers facing the entrance on the wrong side of the bus stop. In particular one round spectacle wearing thug who barks gimme a dollar before I walk in. Management tonight countered with how do I know what they do? I had just told him. Oblivious. Get maybe a good deal here and there but the college credit cards swipe away at many inflated prices. Shame, been here since 66 and this is the worst. Get the panhandlers away from your goldmine.
I bought a bunch of grapes in Apple Tree yesterday, I put them on their public scales (just next to the grapes shelf), it showed 0.8lbs. However, at the cashiers, it showed 1.22lbs, I even double checked with the cashier, he said, the public scale is not accurate, everybody moves it. When I got home, I weighed the grapes on my own scale, it was indeed 0.8lbs. Apple tree charged me 50% more !

2022-06-20No quality standard. Okay when you watch them make the food but don’t order for delivery. They will send you whatever is leftover from last week. Got the driest, hardest pieces of chicken not even the cat would touch. And that at a premium. Stay away.

2022-01-09Beautiful supermarket! Very clean with a great selection of fruits, veggies, flowers, and honestly, anything else you need. The deli was super efficient and clean as well. Amazing food options. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

2021-08-02Pretty much the most convenient place to get groceries for those living on this side of Columbias campus. Things are a bit overpriced but I dont find it too egregious compared to the rest of New York. Only issue is that sometimes the produce selection isnt exactly the greatest, and they only have a limited amount of meats (like, chicken, steak, and pork--dont think Ive seen fish there). Not the place to go if you want perfectly fresh vegetables and such but its good enough. Staff is really nice too.

2020-10-06The sandwiches here are fantastic. Really friendly staff. I also ate the wings here , as well as some pastries. They were all delicious. The market portion has a great variety, you could even buy calculators and some school supplies. Great place to get groceries. Definitely check this place out. Their sandwiches dont miss.

2021-05-02I attended Teachers College, Columbia University which is right across the street from this Market. I wouldnt recommend going to this Market if you need groceries, it is extremely expensive for your everyday needs of groceries. Definitely go to someplace like Costco or Morton Williams of the street, with that said apple tree is still an amazing place to go to get some food and quick snacks and things like that. Since they are normally open 24/7, even if it is the dead of night and you are craving some chips you got some chips. I definitely recommend calling ahead and ordering anything you want from their Deli so that you can quickly come and get your order and leave. Do they do not take names for your order, you will see it ready for you as soon as you get there I promise.

2021-04-20Tiny little independent market by Columbia offers great made to order sandwiches and salads. Adjoining a stocked as it can be grocery. Not the place to go for big cuts of meat or fishes but ideal for daily shopping for the single.
