Had dinner last night, Tuesday, so could not see a view, and it was not very busy. Greeted warmly and were given a choice of seats. Very good wine list with selections at every price range. Great oysters and crispy porchetta appetizers. Very nice mignonette with the super fresh oysters The porchetta was fatty/salty/crispy delicious.... I wanted more! Dinner was the crispy polenta over a squash succotash, super crispy and delicious. The cavatelli exceeded any expectations I may have had.. A super creamy cherry ice cream was the cherry on top. Not rushed, service was very good. We will return.
Went for dinner on a Saturday night. Loved the ambiance. Food was good and our server was fantastic. After dinner our party of four, had cocktails in the cute little bar area were we met another couple celebrating their 50th wedding Anniversary. I guess it was last call (it was barely 10:00) because they suddenly pulled the gate closed, a little rude, they could have just told us. So when we all got up to leave they told us there was a sitting area around the corner to finish our drinks, again, rude! We were in the sitting area for maybe 20 minutes when a young gentleman came over and told us people were complaining that we were be loud. I assure you, we absolutely were not being loud. We were talking and laughing. Did I mention there was a wedding going on that night? The whole place was loud. When we all got up to walk out the person that told us we were loud was at the front desk. I asked him who complained and he said no one complained, he has sensitive ears and we were making his ears hurt. Well that did it for me. That was absolutely one of the rudest encounters Ive ever had at a restaurant. Wont be rushing back there anytime soon.
Very very disappointing. This restaurant does not fit with the level of its setting. The food was barely adequate. Two of us had Caesar salad with homemade dressing and chicken breasts added. It was just lettuce there wasn’t anything else not even shaved Parmesan cheese. The dressing had zero flavor and the chicken was totally dried out. For $22 each. I had the Bronzino with roasted broccoli Rabe. Broccoli Rabe was delicious. Bronzino was very plain, very small portion not even rice, potato, quinoa nothing. For $32. Ridiculously overpriced. I went home and needed to eat something I was still hungry. They very much need to step up their game. Best thing about the place was the service, the young women were lovely.
High atop a hill, looking west over the Hudson, the location can not be easily rivaled. We look forward to returning in the spring to enjoy a sunset. The meal was tasty, prepared and presented well with a nice selection. One expects that the menu will change seasonally. Unfortunately, our enjoyment was somewhat diminished by rushed service. We found it surprising that we could not get a glass of sherry or port....we were told there was none. We also were told only craft beers were served, thus no Stella Artois, Lowenbrau. etc. Also surprising was the fact that wait staff were dressed in jeans....more appropriate for a burger joint than a restaurant of this caliber.Your response gives a better understanding of wait staff dress code, thank you. I still have no understanding as to why we were told you had neither sherry, port or non craft beer when you state that you do. It appears as if staff needs to be better educated
Had a wonderful family dinner with my in-laws at Apropos in late September for their late summer menu. Everything was fantastic - the cocktails (we had quite a few!), food and service. Chef John and his team are so talented, Im looking forward to returning to Apropos again and again for celebrations and casual dinners. Also, the Abbey Inn & Spa is just gorgeous! A beautiful escape right in our backyard!
The food here was amazing - from start to finish. And the service was incredibly friendly. Everything tasted incredibly, and the setting/ambiance is lovely. Highly recommend for any occasion. Executive chef Jared Secor is so talented - going to Apropos for every occasion!
The food here is excellent. Everything is fresh and local, and the flavors are bursting! I recommend the crispy chicken, the pastas, the octopus panzanella salad. Also the panna cotta was probably the best I ever had. I definitely recommend coming to eat at this restaurant and maybe even hitting up the hotel spa before or after which was also a treat!
The food and drinks are overpriced, the service is irregular in the sense that sometimes you wait awhile before anyone comes to check on your table or else you have to flag someone down. My friend got the burger which had good flavor but the pork belly BLT had no flavor. The managers were at least attentive, otherwise I would have given it fewer stars. You pay NYC prices for mediocre service and flavorless food with a good view.
Amazing dinner tonight — the tomahawk short rib, creamy polenta and sautéed brussel sprouts with herbs. The short rib just falls off the bone and is very lean (braised for 14 hours, we were told). It was more than enough for my husband and I to share after starting our meal with the uni crostini (for me) and the baby kale salad (for him). We highly recommend.
30 minute delay to be seated for our 8pm reservation.30 minutes to get a drink an order food.Substituted my side for something I didnt want without even mentioning it to me.Food was decent and the server seemed to have at least somewhat cared. Cant see anyone eating at this place unless youre staying at the hotel.
The service was awful. I called ahead asking for vegan options and the server said there was the arugula salad. I got it and it was literally just salty and boring. My sister ordered a pasta dish and found it overly creamy and overly salty. Terrible experience and terrible food.
We had dinner in the courtyard, service was slow and the food was awful. I have dietary limitations and just asked for a minor substitution of my side dish and was told NO. I asked the server to speak to the chef but my request was ignored. I ended up eating a small dried piece of fish for dinner. I have never experienced this before at any restaurant. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We just had an excellent anniversary celebration meal from Apropos. There were heating instructions so the food was fresh for at home dining. The shrimp cocktail and ceasar salad were perfect appetizers to enjoy while we were waiting for our main course of glazed short ribs, polenta, roasted veggies, and frittata We are looking forward to tasting the tiramisu and fresh fruit once our tummys have more room. Would highly recommend them for a nice dinner out. The view looks spectacular too. It will be nice to actually eat there some day but in the meanwhile they will be on our short list for take out.

2021-09-25We had the option of sitting outside which was lovely! (Especially once we got a lantern since it was an 830pm res!) We sat right by the little koi pond. The food was yummy! Not the best Ive ever had but good. My husband enjoyed the cappiletti and the charred peach appetizer was to die for. I also enjoyed my strawberry Panna cotta for desert. Lovely vibe and staff. Cool experience overall because of the location

2022-01-29We went for lunch today and I had the saltiest burger ever, so disappointed. The view, the atmosphere and the server were lovely, but the food way under the expectations, never had such a salty meal.

2021-06-20Very beautiful views of the hudson river! High class ambiance inside the restaurant, everything is brand new!! The food was amazing and customer service was fantastic. Our server Ramona was personable, attentive, and everything a waitress is suppose to be! They have outside seating as well. Their food is Farm to table style so it’s super fresh :) The Marinated eggplant Panini and Pee Wee potatoes were SOOO GOOD!! We will be backSuggestion for improvements: Supposedly on Sundays the dessert menu has 1 or 2 items to choose from. More options are needed for the sweet tooth crowd!

2022-04-02My husband and I just had a lovely dinner here. It’s a spectacular site with amazing views of the Hudson River and Highlands. The service was warm and efficient, and the food was memorable! And they source much of their food and wine from local farms. I had a poached pear and blue cheese salad that was delicious, and the roast chicken was unusually presented, pretty and tasty.

2022-06-13Very nice atmosphere, Hudson River views available, albeit looking through the parking lot was a little distracting. Excellent service, Damien was great.. had the Halloumi appetizer, excellent, Cavetelli was very good (moderate to small portion), half roasted chicken is recommended as well. All in all a very good experience, walked around the grounds afterward, great views and amazing landscaping.

2022-04-25Apropos is PHENOMENAL!This restaurant is hands down the best in Peekskill, and one of my favorites in all of Westchester County. You can always count on an exciting, new seasonal menu with lots of yummy local goodness. The signature cocktails and drinks are fun (strong) and really, really good. One of the best espresso martinis, too! I get dinner here regularly, as well as the occasional brunch, and it’s a 10/10 every time. It is pricy, but it’s worth it: you get what you put for! Executive Chef Jared and his kitchen staff are incredible.

2022-05-01This might’ve been one of the biggest let downs. You think with such beautiful grounds they would have well-tasting food well they don’t. For starters we ordered the fries and steamed mussels this might’ve been one of the most disgusting items I have ever had, the french fries were cold and soggy since they were soaking in the mussels sauce. If I wanted cold soggy french fries I would’ve drove to McDonald’s ordered fries, and drove around for an hour before eating them. The mussels were bland and tasted like they were frozen and just warmed up. The other item we started with was the Burrata flatbread. This was not Burrata on top of the flatbread. When I went to go cut open the Burrata I was hoping for a nice creamy center to ooze out like Burrata should. Well I was wrong, the inside of the cheese was dry and the flatbread did not taste freshly made. For an entrée I had The Braised short rib and polenta. The short rib was cold and I had mostly fat on it, the polenta was not polenta at all and was more so like a grits consistency. Growing up in an Italian household I know what polenta should taste like and how Burrata should look since this was homemade every Sunday. The person I was with ordered the tagliatelle with turkey Bolognese. If your chef thinks it’s acceptable to make Bolognese sauce with turkey I recommend they go back to the culinary and take a class in making Bolognese sauce. The pasta was the most bland pasta I had in my entire life it seemed like they didn’t boil the pasta in salt water which pasta should be cooked in. I would not recommend this place to anyone, it’s a waste of money and a letdown, the only positive I will tell you about this place was the service was great.

2022-07-08CONS- They had an attitude with us literally as soon as we walked in- not sure if it was because we were not white… and it was a race issue, or if it was an attitude because we had young kids with us.- Few guests from our party headed to the bar from the table at 5:55PM- which I admit is late for happy hour ending at 6… but the staff were purposely avoiding us and we just kept waiting to be serviced… When they spoke to us finally it was 5:58 they said they couldn’t service us because happy hour ends at 6… well, it’s not 6 yet… but okay!- we put in our dinner order late I admit, but it took awhile to get the kids settled… it took an hour to get the food served, which is fine… but when we kindly asked on status on the order so we could decide on kids sleeping schedule- they just were immediately defensive, kind and unhelpful.- the managers demeanor was defensive the whole time. He has no sense customer service- instead of being apologetic and seeing how he can help the customer, he was just complaining about us as guests? This guy needed training in customer service and hospitality.- he at the end was excusing us of wanting a discount or wanting our meals comped? It is so insulting—- this made me again think he was discriminating toward us because we were not white. We are absolutely not looking for free food, we want good service and to be treated with respect- and tbh are willing to pay more for it.PROS- good food- amazing views
