All of the sustainability facts provided at this exhibit are surface level one-liners, and meant to make the visitor feel guilty. The exhibit is little more than sustainability click-bait with its alluring lighting effects for selfies and mildly interesting handmade scenes.Arcadia Earth is a TERRIBLE example of sustainability-minded education. The whole focus is on how individuals should make sacrifices in their lives to help the planet. Its exactly this type of thinking that allows big corporations to turn the focus away from their actions and make people feel guilty about their personal choices. Do you want to thwart pollution and have society as a whole live sustainably? LEGISLATION is the only way to force big polluters to change their practices. No pre-established company makes profit sacrifices to decrease their impact on the earth. Their marketing teams come up with things like Arcadia Earth to stop people from looking too closely at the real problem: corporate greed.Want change? Talk about it. Hold those in power responsible and accountable. Vote for it.
Arcadia Earth is a very powerful, moving, and educational immersive art experience. The exhibit combines modern technology with recyclable product sculpture to tell the story of how wasteful habits have caused a serious impact on the planet. Not only is the immersion experience meaningful and educational, its also one of the more affordable choices available in NYC. Check out the gift shop, filled with reusable alternatives to single use plastic products (highly recommend LastTissue!). My only complaint was that my Android phone was not compatible with the accompanying AR mobile app, so I could not take advantage of that feature throughout the exhibit. It seemed cool, though!
This was a very educational installation and experience. Its an opportunity to really learn and think about how we hurt the planet we live on and how together, we can make an impact. The exhibits are beautifully made and the thought leadership behind each resonates if you want to make a difference. I highly recommend visiting.
Educational and eye opening. People know about the over flowing trash and see the garbage on the streets but when you actually see the visual representation of it in front you it’s… horrifying. We as a community really have treated our planet as one big dump site. If you go there think about all the times you dropped trash on the floor with the mentality oh it’s small it’s nothing to worry about but multiply that mentality by millions of people. It shows how reckless we are as a society and how much pressure we have caused the ecosystem. Go to the exhibit and see for yourself it’s insane.
Such an amazing and interactive experience! It’s a great place to bring your family and very educational also you feel like your making a difference as Arcadia allows you to donate to causes to help save our environment ! We loved every second of Arcadia and will definitely be back !
Really makes you open your eyes on how much harm we are doing to our planet! This place is so beautiful especially if your photogenetic lots of parts to take plenty. At the end they have many products that are natural and good for the environment. I came with friends here on a trip to NYC and recommend!!!
It was alright… pictures looked way cooler. The place wasn’t huge and it def could have been more fun and immersive if there wasn’t a guys voice narrating about the failing environment. Would have preferred to actually hear the nature sounds instead of a robotic voice. Also not very interactive. Cool to visit but not for 50$
The good reviews are just because they offer a discount on the ticket price if you write one and then show them. All the other one star reviews are right; its basically just a bunch of rooms with art made of trash and weird images being projected onto walls. The whole experience is condescending and basically just blames you for killing earth, and conveniently fails to mention that most of it is caused by the big corporations. If you want to pay $50 to get two or three good Instagrammable pictures then do it, otherwise save your moneyThe false advertising and paid reviews almost makes it a legitimate scam.
Its rare to have shows concerning the human impacts on our environment, thus it is worth the support. However, it only touch upon multiple issues on the surface level. The art insulations in combination with the phone app is interesting, but it was also more of a walking through and reading paragraphs from the wall. I thought it would be more immersive and interactive. I liked some parts of the show more than the others. Maybe instead of putting words on wall as the main part of the show, at the beginning, they could have used the exhibition or experience to provoke peoples curiosity, towards the end of the show. So people want to learn more instead of forced to read. Another problem I have is that, the announcer keeps on saying but you can help. Yes, while it is everyones responsibility for this planet, they should also acknowledge that there are flaws in our social structures and systems. The pressure should not only be on the individuals. But overall its a good start. Also, just an idea. Since people love taking pictures in there. Perhaps the design of the show can revolve a little bit around that too.
Avoid this place, cost $40 to educate on climate change and human consumption. But it is more a blaming content than an educating one, and technology was not really functionning. Additionally, we challenge the fact that for $40 a ticket, not a dime is allocated to help climate change... So I guess educate is one thing, but taking profit is their priority.
Great museum that’s not too expensive. really fun to go to with friends, immersive experience, each room is amazingly detailed and such a cool experience. i also really enjoyed the vr room and the gift shop. the museum theme also is very insightful and eye opening to the current state of earths nature and the environment around us.
Classic NYC bait and switch. We were extremely underwhelmed. It is like walking through some third graders project on trash. Our phones werent compatible with the app. The provided iPad stopped working a third of the way through the exhibit. Rooms were hot and uncomfortable. There is no where to sit, save for one exhibit room. The information to contact local representatives is out of date, undermining the credibility of the act now to protect our planet message. The exhibit also puts ALL the challenge of combatting climate change on the consumer, with nothing about corporations and industrys role in climate change. The exhibit dumps you into the retail shop before you leave - another confusing hypocrisy of the exhibit.Biased, basic and boring for $40 a head.
Decided to stop by on a whim, took about an hour to run through, pretty cool experience especially with VR and upgraded hololens. Didnt realize it was focused on environmentalism and most of the artwork is made from recycled/repurposed materials. Information isnt overwhelming and easily digestible. Great place for pics and employees were really well informed and friendly.
Very underwhelming. Getting all the AR things to work was a pain and at the end of the day the effects were not that interesting. It drained my phone battery which usually lasts me more than a day before I have to recharge. The VR headset didnt seem to be adjustable so the image was a bit blurry for me and the videos were too short. I work with AR and VR tech so maybe thats why I didnt feel that it was impressive. Maybe it would be interesting for kids on a field trip.
Conceptually this was a great idea, with interactive and VR aspects to all of the different rooms, however, I found that in reality there wasnt enough on offer for the entrance price and we ended up getting through the whole thing in just over 30 mins which didnt seem worth the $33 entrance fee.I did like the fact that it was trying to get a message across about what effect were having on the planet but maybe the message was over the top at times and took away from the fun aspect.
Pros:- Some of the art installations are really nice.- Staff is niceCons:- app was shotty and really didnt provide anything (not worth $1 let alone $30 (cost of ticket))- Felt like one big preachy marketing campaign - over half the links from the app to learn more ended up being donation sites- WAAAYY too much reading. If you want to read this much, buy an article or a book on climate and recycling - I brought a 10 and 12 yr old and they read some of the info, but grew bored VERY VERY quicklyClearly a lot of work went into this place, its just too bad I felt so disappointed. It felt like a series of large dioramas I used to build in 4th grade, but with interactive links to websites asking for money. I didnt even care about the +$100 to bring 2 kids, its more they didnt get much out of it. You would probably be better served if you watched one of the newer David Attenborough shows on Netflix with your kids.
Are you kidding me? The quality of the VR is terrible, the exhibition is poor, learning is basic school level about plastic and food pollution. Its a scam to pay this amount for something like this. I dont recommend it, dont waste your money.Edit: they gave their email address in the response but they never replied to my email so dont buy into their niceties
I expected a different muesum then what I found. Its very insightful and helps teach you about the pla et and how we need to save it. But like everyone I got alot of ads from this place on Instagram or Facebook and it definitely makes you think your going to a interactive immersive museum. I dont want to give away much but you should know the animals are only seen through your phone with the app you must download when you first enter. All in all I gave three stars because I feel its advertised as something its not. But if you love to learn about how to save our planet I would recommend going.
We were surprised that immersive experience is about pollution and climate change . The message gets lost in the beauty of the exhibit…instead of thinking about oh poor ocean polluted with fishing nets , you left thinking how amazingly gorgeous that room was . Overall my daughter, mom and I had an amazing time .
We visited there yesterday. For each individual it would cost 30$ ticket + 18$ service fee (???). It really didn’t worth 48$. Maybe 10 would be fair. Also, you have to use your phone to see the 3D cartoons. I wish they had goggles for it. Overall below expectations experience and highly overpriced.
This place is pretty chill from the shopping area that has good environmentally conscious products that are sold about the exact same prices that you will find the products in competitors stores. Cool staff. The inside is really interactive and its a lot to discover. Not sure if giving out email address to use the rental ipads is why i have spam email now.
Cool experience but quite expensive for what for what it is. I think the artists had really good intentions but the overlay with AR draws away from the messaging and just makes everyone be on their phones / taking pictures for Instagram. So many people were just there for the insta shots, definitely took away from the experience. Some of the staff are very friendly, while others can be quite rude and talk down about customers behind their backs - overheard multiple conversations about customers after they walked by...
Its more than worthy!!. This museum not only give you the whole experience you want but it makes you more aware of the pollution and what we can do to protect our planet. The price is 35$ which its ok because you will see the cost reflected into the different scenarios. To consider! There are some parts of the exposition downstairs and again upstairs so if you are on wheelchairs or have difficulty to walk, I recommend to send an email to see how they manage to help in this situations. At the end of the exposition you can buy lots of souvenirs that are ecofriendly like bamboo toothbrush.
I enjoyed Arcadia. It was a knowledge, immersive experience. You go through several rooms (more than I anticipated) and learn the many ways in which humans are destroying the planet lol. You also get to download an app that allows you to see 3D images on your phone in the different rooms. At the end you can take a picture with different statements that encourage people to do better in order to take care of the planet. The decor for all the rooms is superb. I would recommend everyone check it out.( btw I went during “Must See Week” and got two tickets for the price of one, maybe you can do the same :-))
The installations were interesting and impactful. The AR technology was cool, but didn’t add too much to the experience. We went on a Saturday afternoon and were never alone in a room but weren’t too crowded either. Great way to get people thinking about their environmental impact.
If youre a human who relies on the earth to continue living you should check this exhibit out. (Spoiler alert - that means you)There are maybe 10-15 separate rooms/exhibits that you flow one direction through, exploring different parts of our world, ecosystems, and just how massive and detrimental our presence is with our current carelessness. If the exhibits themselves arent cool enough youre given an iPad for a AR experience throughout the journey. Almost every room has a picture to scan to activate the AR for that room.
Upcycled art about climate change in a time when we need the most awareness possible? And it’s fun and not super depressing? Good stuff!Plus that gift shop is full of awesome alternatives to single use plastics and non-toxic gifts for anyone who’s trying to reduce their impact.
This installation was amazing. One of the best interactive “art” pieces I’ve seen good for all ages and very informative. Do make sure you have linked your phone to the App once there, as it has a life of its own !It has many rooms all very different with sound, projections and some with 3D ‘goggles’ that throw you off balance. I can’t recommend this place enough.
Some cool art but super underwhelming. Probably good for kids as it’s mostly depressing common sense facts about how we have trashed the planet (and really focuses on individual blame rather than the impact of government and big business). In hindsight I wouldn’t spend more than $7 on this.
2 stars and let me tell you why. Overpriced compared to museums that actually have something historical and PHYSICAL to show you. They will try and sell you off on this idea that using your phone to view animations over what they say is ‘art’ not saying that SOME of the projects there aren’t unique. One of the exhibits is just a virtual reality that you can experience with a friend who has a vr headset lol. Call me a hater but for the price per entry, this isn’t worth your money. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a fine course meal before you dish 66 dollars for you and your girlfriend. Only plus? You can get a cool pic in the trash bag exhibit.
This was a pretty cool place! I personally liked it more than the three other people I went with because I take more of an interest in environmental justice and sustainability. We were expecting it to be more of an earth-centric museum rather than art exhibits, but I appreciate the way they used trash to recreate endangered habitats. Their message came across loud and clear, and there were a few interactive pieces that were very cool, especially the VR headset that has you swimming in the ocean with a bunch of sea creatures. The topics can feel pretty heavy (and maybe a little guilt inducing) but never defeatist. I loved that in each room they outlined what was harming that specific habitat, but then gave concrete action items that you can take to do your part to help out. All in all this was a cool place to spend a bit of time, definitely wont take up a significant portion of your day, but perhaps the tickets are a little more expensive than what they felt to be worth. (But hey, given their work they are doing to help the environment, I cant complain too much.)
I will be honest: I hated this experience. The message (which funny enough is a recycled message) is that we need to use less plastic and waste less. In the very start of the exhibit the narrator name drops “sustainable brands” which is a nice little touch to the authenticity of the whole placeAll the exhibits are made from some sort of waste, which has been done for decades, with the same repeated basic voiceover messaging that matches a Facebook share post - check your carbon footprint, be mindful, blah blah blah. The artist even has a section where he’s virtually lecturing you on the importance of it all: never is it addressed that the private sector accounts for roughly 25% of plastic waste.I know that this artist and exhibit mean well, but there better, more meaningful and informed ways to to support this cause, and better art to spent nearly 50$ a person on.
Horrible; Arcadia earth barely offers what it advertises. For reference, I would still feel robbed even if I spent $5 on a ticket (but its $31 even with a student discount). Why this museum is not even remotely worth your money:-Only occupies about 30 minutes of your time, super short experience.-App is a glitchy mess and is borderline unusable.-Lackluster exhibits that are not interesting in the slightest-Barely interactiveReading the other google reviews, its stunning how many people gave this place 5 stars. They have to be bots or something! This museum was hands down the worst museum I have ever been to ever.
Cute, but underwhelming. The art is wonderful, and somewhat immersive when complemented with light effects. The exhibit celebrates the earth while teaching some valuable lessons (good for kids or anyone thinking that caring about the environment is a hippie thing). That being said, the augmented reality is ridiculous: you just watch glitchy lousy animations on your phone, that may have impressed me if Pokemon Go hadnt done it already years ago. People walk around looking at their phones, and were talking about saving our environment and being closer to nature? The virtual reality is almost non existent: less than 10 goggles available in the entire place; you wait your turn then feel rush to pass them along when you finally get them; and what you see is just the sea, a Savanah landscape with lions and a koala in a tree. Cute, but if youre looking to get wowed by how beautiful the earth is, just watch Planet Earth instead. In conclusion, it is a nice and important exhibit, but branding as an AR and VR experience is borderline false advertising. I appreciate the effort, and there is some true art in there, but the whole thing feels a bit phony (pun intended ;)
Not worth the 30 bucks... That kind of event is a serious damage for pro-climate change activist. They claim to plant one tree for every visitor maybe because they are shamed for such electricity waste.Technically you need to bring your own device. They dont have enough iPad.. oh and it has to be an iPad ios7 at least... So probably the message is if you are wealthy enought you can be concerned about climate change
What a fantastic piece of art !! Imagine a world worth fighting for. What if we brought nature back? What if the rivers, lakes and oceans were restored to thriving ecosystems full of life? What if we focused on ecosystem restoration instead of economic growth? Please support Valentino Vettoris magnificent creation and mission by visiting Arcadia Earth
Highly recommend this experience for anyone who is interested in learning more about the impact of global sustainability and what each of us can do to positively influence its outcome. Creative exhibits cleverly uses interactive participation to tell the stories of environmental care.Great value for the time, money and educational experience received.
A little too preachy even if you agree with the message. Installations/art are interesting, staff is friendly. Good use of tech but kind of underwhelming since augmented reality is in Pokémon Go but young kids will enjoy it. Corporate sponsorship shows through in some places. Neat items at the shop. Staircases, no elevator, not entirely accessible.
What an amazing place! The exhibits are stunning, powerful, and impactful. I love the way art is used to educate on the importance of sustainability and protecting our environment. I came here with my 4yo and 10yo and they really loved it. My 10yo is a nature lover and really got into reading everything and using the interactive displays. My 4yo was also really amused by the interactive displays, especially the animals that pop up with the iPad. Everyone here is super friendly and helpful. Any questions we had, whoever was near was so helpful in answering. Loved our experience!
Very misleading advertising. Says on the website that the exhibits promote sustainability, not that the entire place is made out of trash and a super downer. It is marketed as a very happy and cheerful place, by both the website and the demeanor of those that worked there. For such graphic and serious subject content the professional attitude should be a bit more solemn. The first two exhibits are pretty tame which reel you in, and before you know it you are trapped in a horrible garbage maze with only one way in and one way out. My group and I became extremely unsettled and anxious and had to walk through the back the way we came, passing by all the exhibits that had traumatized us once again. Although we understand the message and commend it as a great intention, it is EXTREMELY disturbing, very depressing, and borderline traumatizing. I will no doubt be in therapy for weeks over this experience. I was visiting from out of town and took a long expensive trip to make it to Arcadia Earth, and it ruined my entire trip. I have been in a depressive fog ever since I left and am having a very hard time processing my experience there. What we saw was so terrifying I wanted to close my eyes, and that is understatement. Although my experience may not be the same for everyone, it is without a doubt that the marketing highly misrepresents the actual experience.
App is very buggy on my pixel 3a. Froze many times. Icons disappeared randomly. I dont like it you have to use the phone a lot. When you are attending the exhibition, you are not suppose to look at your phone a lot. Plus the app broke down more than dozens of time during the visit.I cannot blame them for the emphasis about the environment, but I dont 100% agree with what they are doing. The audio there is always saying You, You, YOU!, YOU SHOULD!, They should have list how much they spent on the exhibition. They used 44000 plastic bags for one of the exhibitions, how is that affecting the environment and profiting the plastic bag industry. How much carbon release does it cost to run the lights of the exhibition and how much pollution they released into the environment by building the exhibition. If these are not justified, they are only protecting an ideology instead of the environment.
Really enjoyed this exhibit. I didnt know what to expect before I went in, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Its a fun way to learn about climate change and help us to appreciate how we can make even little changes that can make our earth better. I encourage everyone to go to this exhibit. I look forward to going to it again; the 1st time I went, it had just opened and there were a couple of technical issues, so Id like to see it in all of its glory next time.
I don’t know what la-la land all of the people with wonderful reviews went to (I’m guessing most of those are paid reviews or come from Arcadia employees/partners and such)— the exhibition is disappointingly limited in every way, superficial messaging, poor delivery. There are a few of low-quality in-app AR simulations, some school project looking “art” hanging from the ceilings, glitchy 3-min long VR sim; somewhat incoherent and lazily executed educational component … overall not much to see or learn… Would likely skip it even if it was free let alone almost 40 bucks.
What an stunning experience. The exhibits were very eye catching and informative. Love the fact that when using the AR App you can see a whole different world while navigating through the exhibit. Every single room in is unique in it’s own way. In addition to that, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely an Instagramable location ( we all love to take our cute pics here and there ).
Absolutely incredible, the definition of doing a lot with a little. Brilliant colors, brilliant exhibits, and a powerful message. Plus, the incorporation of interactive real-time maps and statistics, and AR technology (even if the AR is a bit clunky at times) is an exciting way to experience this amazing museum.
Very overpriced. The experience would have been better if the app they force you to use would work half the time. The employees were less than friendly and welcoming , the facility was dated, smelly and really not worth the $190.00 it cost to walk through in less than 30 minutes. I would not go back or recommend.
Overall the experience was underwhelming. The message gets lost and feels like the ultimate cash grab. There is nothing interactive about this museum and would recommend people instead go to Central Park or visit one of New Yorks amazing state parks to learn about the environment. If youre looking for a set to take photos in I would still not recommend this local.
Overall, we enjoyed it, but I was pretty underwhelmed. The pictures I saw beforehand made it seem to me like it was something bigger and better than it actually was. It was really short and you could easily be done in 30-45 minutes. Not quite what I was expecting for a 40 dollar entrance fee that ended up being $48 with tax. The overall message was mostly good, and they advocate donating to related causes — and even offer QR codes to do so — but ironically, none of the money they make on the near-criminal $50 charge actually goes towards helping the planet. The virtual reality and augmented reality were the best/coolest parts, and should be the focal and selling points of the exhibit, but it just left a bit to be desired and they definitely should try to augment (pun intended) that technology. If it was $20-25 and you were in the area, I’d say to give it a shot, but I wouldn’t pay a dollar over that.. just wasn’t worth it. A one and done thing for me. 2/5 stars for the current price; if it was half the price, I probably would’ve went with 4 stars.
Honestly very poor display for the cost. Idea was great in theory; Execution was worse than the Travis Scott apology video. Somehow. Also was very hot like 85 degrees inside. Workers were very judgmental and giving rude looks and we did not feel comfortable being there. Even a display that was setup with an LED strip worse than a frat boys room. Also PSA: restrooms were as dirty as the ocean.
So amazing! A beautiful message portrayed through beautiful art! I had an amazing time going through the exhibitions, using the AR app, and taking pictures. I saw a review saying how people were there for Instagram pictures and said it was a con, honestly I think that’s a wonderful thing! … why would you not want to photograph this beautiful art sharing this message with all your friends, families, followers making them want to go and get to experience this absolutely amazing experience on their own?! Also the price is great, especially for all you get, the employees were also great… so kind, helpful, and humorous!! Thanks Arcadia Earth for the out of this world experience :)
I was hopeful for, but disappointed by this experience. Its overall message that individual action is the way to a sustainable future is naive and uninformed. It also lacked of factual rigor and made mediocre use of digital media. This type of exhibit is harmful to the overall sustainability movement.
Enjoyed the exhibits and liked the initiative behind it. It was fun going through some of the rooms and taking photos. Didnt like that they charge a service fee on top since they made it look like it was only $33 for offpeak. Overall, I still enjoyed it. I would make sure to borrow an iPad from them as one of the stimulations didnt work so well with the app installed on the phone. Also expected more VR experiences, but the rooms were pretty cool!
Beautifully and thoughtfully presented, such a great experience and incredibly eye opening! First outing since pandemic with a few friends, felt very comfy safety wise, super friendly staff and well informed, and overall a lot of fun! Impressed with the depth of info on sustainability/climate change throughout, simplified in a way thats not overwhelming/harsh - whats happening now, whats going to happen, and how each of us can make small changes to help. The installations and tech are so sick, art installations are all made from repurposed/up cycled materials, and adding the AR/VR was super cool to experience. Will definitely go back again with other friends and fam!
Very creative art pieces. Very informative and interactive exhibits. One star knocked out for their glitchy app and how they didnt let us go back to an exhibit we skipped over initially due to it being overcrowded when we got there. Its covid times. That should be considered okay to do if we wanted to come back when we felt safer. Otherwise, good experience overall.
Staff was very friendly and nice so im giving this exhibit 2 stars. Other than that, this was a very lack luster experience. The price is outrageous for what you get. The most exciting part is a 2 minute underwater VR room where you sit on barstools in a circle while watching a blurry video of a repeating scuba diving scene... Bathrooms are disgusting and the app is a waste of cell phone space. I do not recommend.
Arcadia Earth was awesome! A must see for anyone who cares at all about the environment, nature, or our future lives and health in the next few years. I learned so much and love that there’s a whole exhibit on this. Definitely need a smartphone to attend tho! It’s a little bit expensive but so worth it, and I hope they use the profits towards bettering the environment and continuing the fight against climate change.I wish they would also highlight more, how of course there is strength in numbers and if all of use lived as sustainably as possible, we would make a big difference, BUT also how big corporations and governments and institutions supporting and investing in them often play an even larger role than most individuals do! They talked about this in one section of the exhibit but I wish they would emphasize it even more!I’m really glad they’re teaching and helping people to be more eco-conscious and eco friendly / zero-waste though!
The tour is absolutely overrated. Their AR app doesn’t work, even on the iPads they provide. They have a small VR show that’s not at all good (clips are way old and with a very bad resolution). The AR content has a lot of bugs. Also wanna bring up that they have a very bad customer support when asked for.
Waist of time. Waist of money. Misleading advertising. I visited with my family. Reading the description on the site I thought it is going to be about exploring our beautiful planet. However it was all about how human destroyed it. As much as I think this is an important topic, that’s not what Was portrayed on the site. The art was mediocre at best, the multimedia experience was made by hobbyist and we left very depressed.
Most instagramable/overrated place in NYC. The VR experience is laughable. The video is completely blurry and underwhelming. The app is mostly useless and the info on the walls lacks a lot of context. Absolutely NOT worth the price. And ITS NOT immersive in any way. Go there if you want to take photos. Thats it.
Loved this show as did our two kids aged 11+13. No complaining at all, hard to believe but it’s true! They loved it. Not once did I hear “I’m bored, can we leave now?” NOT ONCE! We all enjoyed the experience and could have stayed twice as long. Perfect thing to do on a Sunday morning. Our wait wasn’t too long. We arrived around 11:30 and waited outside for about 10 min. We had so much fun taking videos. It was a massive hit for all four of us. I would highly recommend it. We are a family trying desperately to use as little plastic in our life and every time we go to the beach, we take a bag and clean up. We all need to do our part to save our earth and make it a nicer place to live!
This place is actually pretty fun and beautiful, but I feel they charge way too much for the experience. They should have discounts for NYC residents. We all just went through some problems the past year and a half. The least they can do is give back to the residents. I love nearby, and would I go back again? Certainly, but only at a discounted resident price.
If I ve zero stars I will this is an edict place not a family all vedeos used are made by visitors the application is not working and there is no guide. Not recommend it except for educational ppl or ppl who want lose money and time the worst at all I think all five stars are from their friends. The website offers limited information & that is because the place offers little. The catch all gimmick is the short video of the deer in front of the young mom & her daughter, the shark swimming overhead, it offers none of that. At the ticket check in desk, I was told by the cold, aloof guy 10% off the show was inaccessible, I was not offered 10% off of my ticket price. The place is a series of twist & turns mirrored walls with 5th graders projects hanging all over & around. By the end of the exhibit, I didnt learn anything that I wouldnt have leaned by going to the shore of any city. Oh wait! Apologies Ive leaned that a) they may have created more of a mess that will ultimately ends in the sea b) Target is the biggest culprit theyre trying to expose as, they have made used an excessive amount of Target Bags to create their Art Exhibit -1 * would be more appropriate but, its only my opinion.
Definitely agree with the others who put a low review on this. The pictures and description oversell whats actually here, which is all pretty underwhelming.- low-immersion exhibits. the pictures make it seem really crazy, but there are just colorful lights and random mirrors and occasionally something hanging on the ceiling. almost all of the exhibits just lack a ceiling, making the rooms feel half-done.- super outdated tech--VR is pretty glitchy and underwhelming (tech from like 10 years ago, where youre being shown a badly clipped together video that you can see where the images overlap, instead of offering actual, easy 3d models that are seamless, like in videogames nowadays), or having you use an ipad or an app to scan qr codes to initiate bad animal models.- many of the facts are embarrassingly basic or news from years ago--things that are common knowledge for anyone who has already made the choice to visit an exhibition about the environment (fauna is good for nature! plastic is bad)- honestly, definitely feels like a capitalist grab to use peoples concern for the environment to profit. the exhibits seem to be made of plastic and foam (unrecyclable bags) or polyester netting which creates even more waste.I agree with that other guy--if it was $20 maybe then this would feel worth your time, but for $40-50? dont come here. Spend the money donating to environmental organizations instead, and go to the museum of natural history, or something.
Amazing experience. Love to see a beautiful space generating awareness for climate change, most importantly empowering us with solutions. Kids and adults will love it. The staff was very friendly and informative. The different Instagram moments are created with recycled materials in partnership with artists. After leaving the exhibit I had amazing pictures and also felt empowered to be a part of the solution. Highly recommend.
Really beautiful and very insta-worthy location. The shop attached to it is AM A Z I NG !!! If you are a vegan or trying to live sustainably or just inclined to believe that climate change is effecting us, this is a worthy experience. The app integration is a cool layer on top of an already interesting exhibition. They have a wonderful team of people working with the visitors experience, everyone was engaging and genuine!-this museum is not fully accessible at the moment--this museum needs to focus more on activism through representation and behavioral changes RATHER than just financial contributions made by museum patrons-
I thought it was just ok but the kids loved it -that’s what matters It definitely got the point across that we need to stop using plastic and save our marine life . They absolutely loved the VR of being under the ocean . It was their favorite part . Enjoyed writing message on thé walls . We hear they are expanding which is great . They need to have a section of clothing waste without a doubt .Staff were friendly and helpful . Check it out . It’s important .
We had a great time here, the artwork is amazing especially when you realize what everything is made of, and the interactive aspect is really fun, it makes you want to pay attention and learn about what unfortunately is taking place on the planet currently. The staff was friendly and helpful, and we loved the fact that with every ticket purchase they plant new trees around the world! Definitely recommend!
It was an amazing experience and exhibit. I found out through a friend about the show. As a former New Yorker, on my days off I would always find great museums, shows and new artist! Surprising that I didn’t hear about this sooner! Staff was really lovely and helpful as well (surprisingly in New York). Great merchandise as well at the end of the maze. I recommend for anyone, any age! Fun- interactive- personal- mirrors: a reflection of yourself in the midst of the climate emergency! I vow to care!!
It’s really just a pretty set up to take photos. The info they post is mostly about emphasizing environmental issues. Much smaller than I thought, and quicker too. I’ve been to a few museums themed like this and this was by far the most disappointing, save your 100 and go to superreal or spend half that and go to artechouse
What a phenomenal, well planned out educational and beautiful exhibition executed with heart and power! Yes the tech visuals are super cool however I was more blown away with the art installations all made using discarded materials. In times as dark as ours it is uplifting to see artists create beauty out of refuse. I know the take away is to say no to plastic bags however this installation had me wanting to wallpaper in them! I was with friends who had to leave but I fully intend on returning and checking out the shop filled with interesting gentle on the earth products. A full on WOW is my take away.
Very fun and informative. Would definitely recommend to my friends. The employees there were very helpful. Mario assisted my friend who was visiting from Peru with translating some things into Spanish, which was awesome. The app was easy to understand and worked most of the time.I would advise those who go to have at least 50% battery if you intend to use your phone (they offer iPads if you want as well for free) as the app they use to experience drains the battery. You could also bring a battery pack with you.
Arcadia Earth was a fantastic, eye opening and unique experience!! Each room has a different art installation with a different message about conservation... walking through was truly magical and breathtaking. I never experienced anything like it, and I definitely recommend to everyone looking for a cool experience! It takes a solid hour to go through, and you can get super cool pictures and videos along the way.
Arcadia inspired me to be more conscious and kinder to the planet. It’s a great reminder, very educational, and interactive & fun for all ages!! love & enjoy going to woods, hiking, beaches, diving or even just walking in the park with my dog. The Mother Earth takes care all that for us to enjoy nature, and it’s our job to be kinder and give our love & appreciation back to her so that we get to enjoy it, and next generations to inherit its beauty and benefits just like we have.I went with my friend and had so much fun but I’d highly recommend for children as well, it’d be a great school field trip! If I were a school teacher, I’d take my students there!I also loved the shop, from 100% earth friendly laundry & house cleaning products to bio toxins free clothing, jewelry, solar products, make up products... I’d highly recommend to check it out. You can make a difference!!Thank you ArcadiaEarth for the beautiful exhibit!!
I would give 6 stars if there was an option. First, the exhibit was visually stunning, unique, and overall extremely educational. We learned so much! Excellent job creating such an original, delightful exhibit!Secondly, the staff working this event was not only friendly and knowledgeable, but caring as well. The staff here went above and beyond when someone in our party became sick, and helped her out of the exhibit until she felt better, even offering to return if we decided to come back on a later date. Each staff member deserves a big thank you for showing amazing hospitality. This exhibit is worth the experience!
I brought my 3 and 5 year old nieces here to introduce the topic of plastic waste in a cool and interactive way. The 4 of us adults went through every room reading all the signs and tips about what we can do to help. I thought it was really well done, impactful and only took about 40 minutes to get through. The AR component in the app was a fun way for the kids to see how much pollution there is in our oceans. Bonus: at the end they have a great gift shop of sustainable products from small businesses.
OMGG! I LOVE coming here with family and friends! Such a great & knowledgeable experience to get familiar with what’s going on with our lovely planet Earth ❤️ Each room is designed so beautifully with different themes and facts about whats destroying our planet and what we can do to help save it. Also threw in a little virtual reality that you can use with a phone/tablet. I LOVE this place 10 stars!!
Strongly recommend! What an amazing opportunity learn about our planet through interactive technology. I was skeptical about the “augmented reality” and “VR” component, but actually thought it was well executed. Also, all the exhibits use recycled/re-purposed materials, so they live up to what they preach!
This is a beautiful art exhibit that really showcases the beauty in nature and the Danger that nature faces if we don’t make some changes. A unique blend of technology and physical art installations. A great family trip, and everyone can be part of it by using their smart phones.
Took a train from Connecticut to NYC just for this exhibit and it did not disappoint. I had an idea what this experience might be like from following ArcadiaEarth on insta, but nothing prepared me for how stunning this installation was in real life. The staff was super friendly and helpful from the time I entered and answered all questions I had. This exhibit was massive! Each installation was separated by rooms that dealt with different issues on climate change. My favorite part was that each exhibit was made from trash that we see every day and turned into colorful, imaginative works of art. My Favorite installments were by far the plastic jellyfish and the rainbow tunnel! The whole premise behind this exhibit was to raise awareness and I believe it accomplishes just that. The information gained at the end of this experience was profound and I’d recommend it to anyone. I’m 33 years old and never once felt like it was “childish” as some reviews have stated. Nor did I feel like i needed a child with me to feel purpose behind going. More people need to see this though I’d love it if this exhibition could travel! The ticket prices seemed reasonable, especially when I read what the proceeds would help fund! I think Arcadia Earth and the artists involved did a stunning job on this one 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Thank you for educating and raising awareness in a colorful, interactive, non-depressing way!
Amazing artists featured in this interactive experience! I loved how I felt transported to different worlds throughout the show. Being immersed in the materials that each room was talking about provoked many feelings and thoughts. Would absolutely recommend to all my friends and family!
What an incredible experience!! Not only is this experience about conservation but it’s also fun! I loved the whole installation. I already was aware of the footprint we are leaving but this opened my eyes to sooo much more ! I hope this continues for a very long time and that it educates people who are not aware of what’s going on with our planet. ❤️
Awesome interactive experience. Just the right length. They have iPads for use. A free coat check exists so you dont have to tote your things around. We had issues connecting to their wifi due to the sheer volume of people.and devices. Great for kids. I highly recommend.
Arcadia Earth provides much needed visibility towards climate change issues and it effectively reaches the people who can actually do something about it. The ones whose influence can cause actions. The media is smart and beautiful.I specially love how they are increasing the appreciation for the beauty and magnificence of animals without actually trapping whales or sharks or bees. It is quite magical. The interactivity of the VR is mind blowing and I am excited for the change it will cause. Staff was wonderful and attentive.
My Fiancé & I went on a Friday night around 6pm and absolutely loved it. They don’t allow too many people at one time, so we felt like We had the place to ourselves mostly, which was fun. I found the experience super relaxing, empowering and insightful. Not only does it raise planet awareness & share information most people do not know, it is also a cool educational date night idea with artsy photo ops. You will love it.
The experience was beautiful to take in alone, as well as with a loved one. Not only informative, but also entertaining. I would go back in a heart beat! I also want to mention one of the employees who guided me through my experience, Dallas. What an incredibly kind soul!! I don’t think I would have had quite so perfect a time if it weren’t for them.
It was basically looking at Some garbage and an old apartment building that they painted black And put garbage bags all over It was not the experience that I thought it was gonna be I really thought the visual would have been a little bit better They make you use your phone throughout the whole experience and its just basically youre looking for your phone with some filters of fish floating in it
Definitely NOT worth the money, and the exhibit was so “single issue” it was painful. Most of the VR goggles didn’t work, the exhibit didn’t offer tangible ways to supposedly help the environment, and also did not acknowledge the damage that is being done to marginalized populations negatively impacted by climate change such as indigenous people or those working as child slaves in less developed countries. For an exhibit located in such a diverse and progressive city, it felt like the exhibit was a cop out for people that don’t actually care about trying to make a difference and help others but only feel good for an hour and likely make other wealthy individuals richer, since they were so keen to have a gift shop at the end of everything. I would not recommend anyone waste their time here.
This was definitely a cool experience and we learned a lot while we were there. Eye opening learning about how some common items are used and disposed of in the manner in which they are. A noble undertaking and I hope that people who visit are more aware and make changes. We just felt that it was too expensive considering that we were in and out within a half hour. The videos promoting the event were also a bit misleading. A couple of rooms contained virtual reality lens, and that was the extent of the 4d experience.
STUNNING & So Educational!Absolutely loved every minute of my time at Arcadia and was so impressed with the artists designs, technology and most importantly the mission to educate people about climate change, caring about our planet and all sentient beings. Highly recommend this truly beautiful museum for children and adults. Its very inspiring!!!!
This was truly an amazing exhibit. My teenage nieces were not bored at all because ther is a lot of digital interaction. I would have given it 5 stars if the app was also designed for android. They do have ipads but there can be a wait. Overall is was very educational and beautiful.
Not bad my seven year old liked the interactive aspect and was visibly disappointed when some rooms were lacking in them. The artist is gifted; I’ve never seen plastic bags look so beautiful like an underground cave filled with white crystals. Also, Arcadia’s gift shop should just partner with Amazon and as a lot of their products can be found on Amazon for less....just a thought.
Pretty meh. Not worth the money. Some cool sculptures and cool moments, but overall did not get as much from the exhibit as I would have liked.HOWEVER: If you want some killer Instagram shots to make everyone else think you had a lot of fun, it can give you plenty of those...
I do not recommend this place, for me it seems like a scam. 1.-they have a room full of new plastic bags so they make an incredible waste contradictory to what they are preaching- lead by example.2.- in 5 devices for VR only one work, the other ones were out of battery.3.- the commercialization of a good cause selling products at the end- they promote consumers. Many of the exhibits seems to be brand oriented.I would not recommend this to anyone.
This place is an interactive, fun way to become environmentally aware. The different rooms take you into the different way society has harmed our environment. I especially love the room with the dangling plastic because it is so eye opening. I recommend going to Arcadia because it’s truly beneficial for you as well as making you aware of how you are contributing to environmental degradation.

2022-06-06Went for the first time and it was quite an experience. Really liked the artwork and the messages behind it. I could see there was a lot of thought put into each piece and I think the artists as a collective did a really good job. The staff were professional and friendly too. I only had a few issues. One, the price of the tickets is a little steep to me considering what the experience is overall. The VR headset was okay, but a bit heavy and I think it could be updated to a better model. Also, it seems like everyone has had different experiences with the app they tell you to download to interact with the art, but for me it really wasnt worth it. It was very slow and only worked on my phone for maybe 10 minutes, then just completely stopped working. Other than that, I liked the experience overall.

2022-02-08Definitely an interesting walk through experience! The staff were great and helpful. I think this experience has a bold message, but I took a star away because the app that goes with the experience is pretty awful lol Sometimes the app works, but it’s pretty slow. It’s a fun afternoon activity though! 🌍🍃🌲

2022-05-30This is the best museum I have ever visited! It’s fully interactive. 10 out of 10!✨ super interesting! You can calculate your ecological footprint as you move along the exposition 👍🏼💯As a scholar in ESG and Environmental Sustainability, I can confirm the content is up to date and the values delivered through the exhibits closely correlate with the current trends!

2022-03-30I liked it, didnt initially realize it was a climate pollution/damage focused exhibit which while important, I wasnt mentally prepared for so it was a bit of a bummer at first. They did present the information in really cool ways though and the interactive element was pretty neat. Ended up being a unique experience to learn about climate impacts.

2021-09-07Such a visually intriguing and educational exhibit! The installments are thoughtfully curated and definitely photo worthy. Super fun experience and ticket prices are decent. If you download the app, you can experience their AR as well which is a fun add-on. The overall theme was really fascinating, too. I’d definitely recommend!

2022-07-10Really good experience, the art was very nice and raises awareness about environmental issues which, in my opinion, is needed here in the US.However, 40$ per ticket isn’t worth it like at all. The VR experience isn’t that great, and I expected to spend at least an hour inside the exhibit but we were done pretty fast as it’s kind of always the same thing.

2022-06-20Cool art installation with a great message about climate change and sustainability. They provide actionable advice we can all take to reduce our carbon footprint. There’s a VR app they have you download which makes the experience a little better not it’s honestly not necessary. The art itself was pretty cool but the best part was the VR movie where you can get close to animals. I’ll say the price was pretty steep for what this is. $47 after fees for this was not worth it.

2022-04-21The museum taught me a lot of things about how to be eco friendly and help our earth. there were a lot of exhibits and the place isn’t terribly crowded. there was a confusion about the ticket dated but the manager handled the situation well and i was still able to go that day. all of the exhibits used materials that are recyclable and it was very fascinating. throughout the museum you have to download an app called, arcadia earth to make the experience more interactive and answer surveys. however, the app didn’t work for my brother or my father which lessened the experience for them. in my opinion, the best part was the VR room where you can watch different animals close up through a VR. there are many photo opportunities for instagram or facebook. overall, arcadia earth museum was fun but it could be made more interactive.

2022-02-27Interesting exhibit. It’s interactive with your smart phone/tablet devices. You scan the codes in each room and your smart devices shows stuff ie fish, animals, trash, etc… it didn’t say I need to view using their app when I purchase tixs. Which was annoying. Had I known, I would have downloaded the app before hand and made sure everyone had their own device to view. The girl working the front tix booth was very rude. The exhibit is not very big, most rooms had fact/artist info scans as oppose to interactive scans. Not worth the $40/pp tix.
