I am so grateful at Arcadia Pets. They have come to the rescue for me so many times over the years. They have ordered special birds and fish for me and we also got our beautiful family dogs here. I have always been very happy with the health of and the price of our pets as well as the customer sercice and specialized support they are always happy to provide.Most recently Arcadia Pets helped my family find a new home for two birds. These birds belonged to our beloved Mother who loved them very much but who so sadly just passed away. The time, effort and care they took to ensure that these two birds could stay together was something I will never forget and I will always be so grateful to them for.To know that our pets went free to a family who really wanted them makes our whole family feel so much better about having to part with my Moms sweet birds, Rainbow and Sky. We never could have that piece of mind without their help.Its not easy to find a family owned business that has so much to be proud of, now moving on to the next generation. I have had nothing but exceptional experiences with Arcadia Pets. My family has been doing business with them for 20+ years and we have had ten dogs from them between myself, my parents, and my siblings. They have always been there for us to make sure that our dogs are doing well and living their best lives. Tommy and Cynthia are such warm and wonderful people who care about their customers and have always been there to answer any questions or concerns. I read a few other reviews and can say with 110% confidence that their puppies are from breeders who provide the utmost care to their animals. I am a big supporter of small businesses and this mom & pop shop has everything you could need for your pets - from food to supplies - and they even offer grooming services. I truly wouldnt trust anyone else to help me with my pet needs and to help me when it comes to bringing home a furry friend. The shop is small, but their animals are happy and well taken care of. Highly recommend Arcadia to all of my friends and family!
I got my mini schnauzer (Ruth) back in September. The owner spoke with me over the phone before I left the shop. I felt that she took a personal interest in ensuring her animals were placed well. They recommended St. Francis vets (they have been phenomenal with Ruth). I also used Arcadia’s groomer, Donna. She did an amazing job and I was impressed. All around great experience
Arcadia Pets did such a great job with finding my family’s puppy. We truly could not have found more of a perfect fit for us and we thank Cynthia for everything. We’ve only had our puppy for 2 days but we already fell in love with her.So, a few weeks ago, we put our name on her list but it wasn’t until we went to the store that the process started. When we went to see if they had any available puppies on their Wednesday arrivals, we were put on the phone with the store owner, Cynthia. We told her we wanted a small hypoallergenic puppy and she let us know she had one available. We stayed in touch that week and let her know we wanted that puppy and that was that! We went to visit the puppy at her store a few days before getting her and she was so so perfect and still is. She has everything you need for the puppies in her store and takes such great care of them before going in to your hands. She really does care about her puppies and makes sure they are going to a great family. She has stayed in touch since we got her to make sure everything was going well as it really was! The puppy is breathtakingly adorable and so sweet! She has barely barked and she is just perfect. Thank you so much Cynthia and the Arcadia Pets crew!
One of the only good pet stores around here that isnt a chain. The staff are pretty knowledgeable, and for someone like me whos into naturalistic and bioactive terrarium and vivarium setups, its nice to have something nearby. I ordered animals through them and they came the next day, healthy. Its nice to see a place start to carry live plants and other things that would otherwise cost a crazy amount to ship overnight. I feel like most people on the island dont care about this, their pets are dogs or cats, not many reptile or amphibian keepers. This place caters to all, and is seemingly increasing their reach to other parts of the trade.
Arcadia pets is amazing. We have gotten a little teacup Yorkie, and Cynthia has been amazing all the way, answering any questions, concerns and resolving issues. The service is immaculate, she goes above and beyond for her clients which I appreciate very much, it is hard to find people like he nowadays. When we will be getting our second puppy we will definitely be going back to Arcadia. Thank you Arcadia!
Stop selling puppies from puppy mills for ridiculous amounts of money. Those puppies are inbred and have congenital diseases. Make sure when you buy that cute puppy you have 10,000 saved up for vet bills that are about to come along with it. Such a shame. Adopt dont shop people. seriously. Just disgusting because its all for the money. They dont care about those animals. Even the reptiles. Horrible horrible husbandry. Should be embarrassed.

Im very disappointed in the service I was provided at Arcadia pets. My boyfriend and I had vigorously been searching for dogs but due to the pandemic everyone have bought out the puppies in a lot of places. We love and frequent this shop because we always had good experiences coming in here and the knowledge of the employees on any questions we had were great however, today needless to say I am beyond upset. My boyfriend and I had called all week long asking about the next shipment of puppies coming in and we were told either Tuesday or Wednesday. My boyfriend called and an employee told him the shipment just came in and they had two aussie puppies in the mix of the delivery ( the exact breed we wanted ) I ran from work on a break across the island to meet my boyfriend to go look at this dog. It was instantly love only to be ripped from us by the store owner who said Dont fall in love with the dog yet cause one of them is on hold The person who he had it on hold for did not place a deposit on the dog and the dog was in the front displayed for the general public with no signage or anything. The owner apologized and said he was an honest man but really I dont think his business is really honest. How do you display a puppy for sale & say theyre on hold when there is zero deposit placed on this puppy or any indication of someone coming in that the puppy was indeed held...It was done for a family friend & Im sorry to me that is not how you treat your customers, family or not you have dedicated customers who always shop in your store and how would you feel if you put yourself in the shoe of the customer! Would you accept that answer and that treatment if you were shopping in a store you genuinely liked and then expect the customer to return? I doubt it...... we loved this dog so much my boyfriend was willing to pay MORE then the asking price and was still told no. Im beyond angry & am very disappointed in this establishment and the way we were treated. If youre so honest then you should do the HONEST thing and sell puppies the right way. We shouldve been notified the second we asked about the puppies. Dont tell us once weve held them, FURTHERMORE the dogs should not be on display if you hold them up for others. I will not be shopping here anymore. Thanks but no thanks you were of no help and just lost TWO good customers.
Went here for the first time today to buy a mouse for my snake and cant day Im impressed. It looks pretty dingy and I didnt see employees wearing a mask whatsoever. The cashier seemed friendly, however. Not a fan of the prices of the dogs they sell or the small cages and lack of toys/stimulation the dogs get. Very small and tight store so it was difficult to social distance. Im hoping to find better place to get live feeder mice from because I didnt like Arcadia Pets very much.

Cynthia is extremely helpful. We bought a beautiful toy yorkie from here and she walked us through everything perfectly. She is dedicated and shows that she cares. I highly recommend Arcadia if you are looking for a puppy to add to your family.
Worse pet store on Staten Island.. Dead fish in every tank. All the tanks have green algea on the glass. Just disgusting. Seen crickets on the floor. The store stinksCute puppies but they all dont look healthy. And good luck trying to find someone to help you... I someone to assist with something i could tell he got annoyed and felt bothered. I guess thats what happens when you have young teens dealing with the customers..And not for nothing they are very very expensive.. If you are lookkng for a nice variety of fish id recommend Fishatopia on Mindland Ave..
I had saw a red tail catfish in a holding container usually where you put the fish before they go into the bag to be sold, the catfish was living in this container. I had asked why and I was told that the fish was being picked on and that it was barely being fed. I felt bad and decided to purchase the fish. the catfish had no fins and no whiskers so this fish was getting attacked none stop. I didnt realize that until I left the store. after the fish acclimated for 20min I released him into the tank. he passed away one hour later. I told the store what happened and they gave me a hard time over the phone. I paid 15 dollars for the fish which is another reason I got him. it was a good deal but the fish was not in good condition. I took the dead catfish in so they were able see and they told me that I had pretty much got a great deal and since I did they were not going to do anything about it. They had this fish marked down for 15 dollars so maybe It was a good deal but thats what they decided to sell it for. The employee refused to give me my money back and told me that they only have a fish policy on certain fish.He also asked me why I purchased the fish if it was not in good condition I told him that I felt bad but the real question is why did they sell a fish that was messed up to begin with. It was not the owner or his son that gave me a hard time and and on the bright side they themselves are always nice to speak with and are always friendly.
Very disappointed with the service, I called inquiring about a assuie Shepard and was told that they have it in stock. Came to the pet store, the owner let me hold it and then was told it was On hold for another customer, which I asked if I can give a higher amount and was still denied. (For a family friend now apparently). They made me fall in love with a dog for them to take it away from me. I was willing to pay a little bit higher because I felt a connection with the dog. I was a continuous customer there buying fish, (fish tank), food, pet supplies and more. This has left a sour taste in my mouth about their business and business practices. As someone who has a M.S. degree in small business; I would have to say the business ethics is very poor and they’re dishonest people.
Very knowledgeable people working there, prices are comparable to petco, if not cheaper. The owner is super kind and helpful and honestly my favorite pet store to go to. They have so many amazing fish and other cool animals. Great prices and really nice people working there. I have to say that the bad reviews on this pet store are lies!!! The 2 girls saying that the dog on hold was unfair (sounded like the same girl... hmmm) if the dog was promised to someone else who are you to say a deposit must be put on them, you don’t own the pet store! If they want to GIVE the puppy to a family member, that’s their choice, their privilege! People talking about masks... REALLY? What does that got to do with how good of a business this is... if you’re afraid of COVID, don’t go out shopping for a pet, stay home...and someone mentioning the dogs don’t have eyes... yeah, okay... I’ve been going there for years and have NEVER seen a pet without eyes... people giving bad reviews to ruin someone’s reputation is repulsive... get a life!!!
One of my favourite places to go!!! The owners and staff are friendly, helpful and caring. The groomers are very good with the animals and very efficient and only book one dog at a time. A big plus. Its a great local family business and they treat their customers like family too!

I got my dog there and everything went great! The people were nice and helped out a lot. I also saw a review from megan k saying that she was mad that they had a dog on hold. Tbh megan it’s not at all bad that the dog was on hold it’s bad that you think you can act like that because another family wanted the dog. Anyway this place is great!
A couple of years ago I got a teacup chihuahua and now he is the size of a regular sized one. I love him dearly but I would like to get what I paid for. It doesnt smell to good in there but the staff is very good and helpful. I also got a bearded dragon and she is well grown. Overall I have been shopping there for a while I would recommend it.
I’ve been coming here for awhile and I’m very disappointed with how they have handled the pandemic. Half the staff do not wear masks or wearing them improperly (not covering nose) which is the same thing.It is a small store with a small area to pay so you are usually forced to stand near (about a foot or two away) an employee or a customer that isn’t wearing a mask.It is sad, they always seemed like good people to me, but they clearly don’t care about employee and customer health & safety.
I love this store ! Some of the things they sell is cheaper then Amazon !!!! So friendly ! Has new puppies all the time. Always ask you for help !!!! Always answers questions if they know the correct answers!!! Showed me all my options for tanks told me what the difference in each tank kit comes with !!!! Love it better then petco or petsmart !!! 100 percent ! Not as big but definitely couldn’t ask for better people ! The owner is so nice and comes to the store often! He loves his store and isn’t in just for the money!
Very helpful staff. They care a lot about the well-being of their animals. We purchased our dog from here a few years ago after doing a lot of research and she is a very healthy and happy dog today. Good prices on their dog food too.
I buy all my pet supplies here. Tommy the owner and angelina the manager and all the staff are so friendly and extremely helpful. If you do not see what you need, they will order it for you. They answer all your questions and take great pride in there work. I bought a beautiful golden retriever from tommy 10 years ago. His name is bandit and he is the best dog ever, i love him so much. I told tommy what i wanted and he got me my bandit at 2 months old. He is still so strong and healthy. Donna takes such pride in grooming all pets people bring in. She clips my little dogs nails all the time, and although peanut gives her a hard time, she treats him with so much love. I am a customer for life. I will never shop anywhere else for any of my pets needs.
To put it simply, Arcadia is the best. The owner, Cynthia, is very helpful and informative. She is always encouraging me to reach out if I have any questions. This is my second dog I have purchased from her, and I will continue to work with her in the future.
In conversation I heard that there was a pet store in Eltingville that sold puppies. I wanted just to check it out and see some puppies, as we had just lost our very sweet doggie on Thanksgiving weekend. There were several puppies to look at and of course I fell in love with one. Arcadia Pet Store has a great staff who are very dedicated and knowledgeable. The owner, Cynthia, actually gave me her cell phone number for any questions or concerns. The manager, Angelina, is a doll...very informative and so helpful, no matter how many questions you have. I felt very comfortable with the quality of their pets. My puppy couldnt be cuter....I highly recommend Arcadia Pet Store....
Wish I can give 0 stars ,Terrible place don’t give them your business I got about 4 reptiles from them and many fish and they all died in a short amount of time i did everything they told me to do and I went in with the fish the day after and they did nothing and gave me WRONG info about my fish tank DO NOT SHOP HERE . I heard very negative reviews about buying animals from pet shops. So before I purchased my puppy I visited this pet shop on three different occasions. Each time, I obsevered that they cared for the animals. They fed them, changed wee wee pads and just showed an overabundance of love. I also noticed that puppies were being bought quite frequently from his site because it seemed that each time I went there were new animals. I spoke with the sales person, Angelina, who ran the pet shop and I requested a havenese puppy. Once one arrived, not only did she notify me by phone, but she also sent me a picture. She was the cutest puppy I had ever seen, she almost didnt even look real. When I got to the pet shop, my puppy had already seen a doctor, received a microchip, and had been fully groomed, awaiting my arrival. It was at this time that I met the owner, Tommy Daluise. After speaking with him, it was clear that he was very knowledgable about how to care for puppies. He gave me great advice and offered suggestions on how to properly care for the puppy. He spent a considerable amount of time with me and made sure that I was satisfied with my purchase - he is a true professional.I am more than happy with my puppy. Her personality is superb; she is so lovable and she is a superstar wherever we go lol.
I do not understand...why they are saying these puppies are from breeders n not puppy mills... By now they should be selling from rescues. Very over priced... charging what breeders charge. Can be very nasty...n really not clean... I would not have a pet groomed here... not clean enough n too many puppies around that do not have shots.
Strange Pet Store Run by Petty People. First off, the place smells and is generally dirty. Second, they pack way too many puppies into the store to the point that they cannot possibly provide ample care for all of them. Many seem sick, and all are priced as high as possible. The store seems to put emphasis on profit before people or customer service and they literally care more about making $25 than about keeping a long term customer or maintaining positive reviews and recommendations. A small, correct, and fair business decision on their part would have easily saved them from me writing this bad review. Not only that, but Ill no longer recommend Arcadia Pets to my friends. So for a petty sum of money and to make even more profit, theyve angered me to the point of leaving this negative review and most likely hurt their own business to the tune of a lot more than a few dollars. These folks truly highlight the me, me, me Staten Island mentality.
The puppy look okay but the small animals are treated horrible! And they are missing eyes and screaming in small cages. They are all dirty and should be taken away from them or they should learn to take proper care

I had recently purchased a new puppy and he came down with pneumonia. Cynthia, Angela, Alex, Jonathan and the whole crew at Arcadia took Shea in and nursed him back to health. They were available day and night and answered all my million questions big and small. They have been with us every step of the way and will always be a part of Sheas life. This is the best place to buy a dog. They have great customer service. Very friendly. They explain everything about the dog you are purchasing. After if you purchased a dog from them they make courtesy calls to see how you and the dog are adjustiing. Very helpful and professional.
I have been a customer for about 8 months and buying Orijen dog food and first time I came they opened a card with my info and I was told after buying 12 bags 13 would’ve been free. Every time I come they have problem finding the card and in this modern day and time it’s not electronic and last time on 8/29 I was told next one is a free bag. I don’t keep receipts but have banking statements I made all those purchases. Today when I came to get the promised free bag they couldn’t find my card and I had to pay for free 13th bag even though I showed them proof I got one 8/29 and they said there is nothing they can do! “ Come and talk to the boss on weekday and maybe he can help you”If you promise your customers some program like that you should make sure you keep it and loosing a card is pitiful! Never Doing business with you ever again !
I got my dappled daschund Daisy when she was 4 months. The staff were courteous and Cynthia followed up continuously on Daisys progress. Daisy is such a love, I couldnt have asked for a better experience

I have to write this I bought a puppy yorkie. I wanted to get her first grooming my husband try she DONNA has experience ok keep in mine puppy 5 months. Ok she came out quote she all knotted she said I will give her buzz i thought a little buzz dog came out shaved completely . Ok she was not nice and said dog was crazy I should of walk out when i saw her Donna should HAVE gone with my gut feeling . Wait it gets worse dog CAUGHT KENNEL COUGH. PNEUMONIA I HAD TO PUT IN THE HOSPITAL FOR THREE DAY XRAY BLOOD TEST RESULTS NAME IT .MYI LITTLE THING . I URGE ANYONE PLEASE DO NOT GO IN THIS STORE TO BUY OR ESPECIALLY GROMMING THE WOMAN IS A BIT.....

Horrible grooming. Never asked what I wanted for my dog and instead decided for herself. She gave my dog a terrible haircut, and aside from that she was very nasty.

2022-04-24This pet store blew me away!! In business for over 30 years, and always run by family, this store has a selection of reptiles and amphibians that I have never seen in stores 3 times their size! With that selection needs some expertise, and they have it! The 2 young men I spoke to were very well informed about the animals they were in charge of, and seemed to care about them as well. I could have spent all day there, but my daughters would have killed me! If you havent been to this store, GET THERE NOW! YOU might find a new friend!!

2022-05-06Extremely excellent service I got a very friendly green cheek baby conure excellent health who cheers the household up. Thanks to the workers who prepared her for a new home she gets along with all of us. Today they gave me free millet spray just for being a customer. I would recommend this store to anyone.

2022-05-03If I could give this place zero stars I would. When I asked the owner who was extremely rude because I wanted to know where his puppy’s were coming from, he responded super nasty. I asked to see where they were coming from. Not only was he nervous about it, he couldn’t wait for me to leave the store. There are puppies in shelters who need great homes. These puppies and their poor mothers are being milled and tortured so you can walk away with a designer dog that shouldn’t even be created. Check the shelters bc they have hypoallergenic dogs. These poor dogs did not ask for this. Not to mention the Macaw parrot who’s caged and needs to be free. If you do your research you will find macaws need HUGE enclosures!!! Not the tiny cage it has :( the reptile cage, same deal. These poor things could barely walk around in there. I hope the owner and all of his workers come back in the next lifetime I’m a tiny little cage or a milled puppies. This is horrid. I can’t believe people still support this horror show. Karma. When there is no justice for animals…there is karma. Please think carefully before giving your money away to this nasty secretive rude owner.

2021-07-22Horrible husbandry for their reptiles. All of them are kept in improper enclosures, which are also way too small for many species. They also have a macaw there for a very long time, not sure if its the same one I saw when I was a kid, but its also in a pretty small cage for that type of bird. Its absolutely ridiculous and I cannot believe this store is still open.I went in to see if they had any reptile supplies, and I left feeling horrified. Please check out the photos below. If you know anything about these animals, then you know how bad this is. Its understandable to have smaller tank sizes for animals that will be sold soon, as long as they are not there for long. But I doubt these animals are moved into larger tanks since they are here for the majority of the day.Look at the bearded dragon for example. This animal needs a MINIMUM of 4 feet in tank length for both movement room and a temperature gradient. This dude has no spot to even bask.Do not shop here. Report them if you can. They should not be allowed to continue business because they do not care about their animals at all.

2022-03-11This is the one of a kind local pet store that everyone needs to visit. The staff is so helpful and attentive. They are also very knowledgeable and care about their animals and yours. Prices are very fair and the products and services are top knotch. I would not go anywhere else.

2020-12-03I got my miniature schnauzer at Arcadia and cannot thank them enough for giving me my best friend. Cynthia was amazing with answering any questions I had and to this day still keeps in touch to see how Homer is doing. I recently had someone stop me on the street during our walk and ask about my dog and sent him to Arcadia where he ended up getting one of his own. Can’t thank them enough for all they have done for me and highly recommend them!

2021-08-22This store is definitely not your typical puppy mills. They care for their animals and make sure they goYo good homes. The staff is excellent and very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend and buy from Arcadia again. The owner even gave me her personal phone number if I had an emergency with my new puppy. You don’t find that these days. Top notch place!!

2021-07-25Tom, the owner, is an awesome dude. The employees there are great! Great quality fish. Ive bought some aquatic plants from this shop and theyve been doing fantastic in my tanks. This is a local fish shop I would wholeheartedly support! This shop is a must-go if you are on the island for some aquatic life.
