This place is so interesting! Theres cute dishware (I personally like the adorable ones with cats and other animals from Japan) and other kitchen supplies, jewelry, clothes, incense, and other trinkets. The staff is super kind and patient. This place is totally worth checking out!
I want to say I was absolutely thrilled to be taken care of by Vanessa last week who really was great at finding what I needed for all my Christmas gifts. Cannot ask for a better employee and hopefully she will be working there next year when I visit NY again. Great store, excellent prices, Stay in Business!
The shop is perfect in SO many ways! I would say that my favorite thing there is the jewelry made by local artists. I found an orgonite necklace for only $16 and online they are close to $40. The prices are perfect. The staff have always been very relaxed and helpful. The incense is great, and general selection is so amazing 😍
I adore this place. Has a good mix of high quality and beautiful gifts along with stocking stuffer cutesy type gifts. They have some musical instruments, servingware, drawing supplies, origami paper, magnets/pens/pins, clothes and socks, lights, perfumes... really they have a ton of stuff and such a wide variety and selection no matter what things you like, theyll have a thing for you. And their stock changes quite a bit, so its always a good option for a revisit monthly.
Well stocked with oddities and artsy gifts . It was a bit crowded. Its pretty popular. Oddities would be things like weird toys and novelties. You want a crazy cat lady action figure, they have her. You want dinosar toys or send effect key chains they have that. They also have some art supplies in small amounts, Dover publications color books and sticker and temporary tattoo books, and things of that nature, artist made greeting cards and hippy style clothing and hand bags, new age Crystals and gifts from foreign cultures. Prices arent bad . Basically its alternative culture hippy dippy artsy gifts central. Monroe ave used to have a dozen places with this d n a and Arcimage is one of only 2 or 3 left.
Ive been going to this store since the 90s and, overall, its much the same. There is a great selection of items. You can spend a long time looking around and finding amazing gifts and treasures.I do have a complaint, though. Twice in the past few months I have made the hour drive there to purchase some crystals. And both times, the employee at the back crystal display made it feel like a complete inconvenience to help us. No initial greeting. No smile or helpful demeanor. And giving off very inconvenienced vibes anytime we asked to see something. (And we only asked to see two things each time, Its not like we were asking them to pull out a dozen things.) We had planned to make a few big purchases here and decided against it due to this energy. Anyone who knows gemstones and crystals knows that youre guided to the right pieces by feeling. Its why we made the drive. We will try at Mythic Treasures next time.
Went here for the first time today and immediately fell in love. Theres so many amazing gems and always something cool, wherever you look. I ended up buying an Emily Dickenson lavender scented car freshener, a cute coffee mug, and an Upstate New York postcard. But this was only after I forced myself to put back about ten things so that I didnt overspend. Definitely recommend.
I LOVE this shop. Variety of giftable items for anyone 1 - 100. Seriously, plan on spending at least 1 hour in this store to take the time to look at everything. Staff is wonderful and has been there for years. The jewelry is especially good quality, they carry many fine pieces that can be worn daily and have an array of styles and design choices. It is hard to describe how much this store means to me, perfect place to stop on the way to a birthday party to find a last minute gift!
Lots of unique and fun stuff to explore! I love shopping here. My only complaint is that the young people on this strip of Monroe Ave must think theyre immune to Covid-19; NO social distancing at all and very few people in masks. This store was packed with people and little kids the Sunday afternoon I went. Glad I wore 2 masks before going in and had hand sanitizer!
Archimage has been a staple of Monroe Ave for ages and one that I absolutely love. You can spend a lot of time looking at all of their treasures. I honestly just love them so much and I frequently do my Christmas shopping in this store. A very charming shop that Rochester is lucky to have. ♥️
I love Archimage. Its a great small business! They have some really neat items, some of them for very reasonable prices. Its just nice to go in to a store like this and find something thats not $100. I get so many treasures here. I miss the HUB store across the street(bring it back guys!!!) but they have incorporated some of the items into Archimage.
My actual favorite shop in Rochester. I get nearly all my crystals here and they have a great sterling silver jewelry selection as well. Theres also art, pins, clothing, dishes, instruments, and lots and lots of miscellaneous unique items. I see mostly the same employees every time I go (and they are super kind and easy to strike up a conversation with!) so it must be a great place to work as well :) Definitely a must go if youre in the area!
Archimage is a great little shop. They carry an incredibly broad array of items, including original art, some by local artists, toys (anyone need a Librarian action figure with shooshing action?), instruments, incense, candles, art supplies, clothing, original jewelry, pottery and numerous other odds and ends. One of my favorite stops in the city.
One of my all-time favorite stores. Clothing prices are a little expensive but if you can find sale items they are more affordable. Jewelry is amazing and wellpriced as well as their gift items in the front of the store.I come here when I need to find a birthday gift for my friends and want something different and zen.
Great and varied selection. The aisles are a little cramped for me, and Im a pretty average build, and very not coordinated. Anyway, lots of weird stuff from modern and kooky toys, to novelty kitchen ware, to decorative, anatomically correct, carved resin skulls. The staff, I dont think they know how NOT to be nice. Incredibly helpful, insightful, too. Asked them if theyd have anything for my dad, a hearty drinking military guy; basically exactly the opposite of their vibe, but they helped me find something perfect for him and advised me of some traditions that went along with the gift. Always fun.
Sadly, I will never be returning to this store. It gives shopping local a bad reputation. Today I spoke with the owner of the store about a refund that went terribly sideways. She told me and my fiancé that we purchased the wrong item for our age, to only shop at large stores, and that the refund policy was posted at every counter, which it is not (as I pointed out to her at the counter we were speaking with her at). My fiancé and I spent an hour and a half in the store on Valentine’s Day looking for a gift for one another. She found a dinosaur lamp, which the owner claims was not a display item, even though it was unboxed on display with the other lamps. My fiancé had no idea that the woman at the counter grabbed it from the display, a lamp that had a few paint chips. She bought it in secrecy to surprise me, so when I opened it, to my dismay, it looked used. Upon trying to make the return today, the owner explained the return policy and made the comments above I mentioned. She also told me to take it down when speaking to her, yet I was not being loud or aggressive in any way. I am quite offended by the owner and will not return. Beware of their return policy and be prepared to be degraded if you do in fact try to return something; you should probably just buy from a large department store as she would say, ruining it for other local shops.
This place is so great , nextdoor from around alley and full of interesting and wondrous things that are pretty hard to find , they even have a didgeridoo and rain sticks, I love it its awesome if youre looking for decorative Chopsticks or little funny gifts you will definitely find them here
I love going to this store because they have such intricate stuff. You can find tapestries, stones, clothing, jewelry, wall decorations, and nick nacks. Park can be a little tricky at times. There is parking behind the building, but if thats all taken up, youll have to park on the street.
If youre visiting Rochester this place is a must visit location! Lots of great gifts for friends and family or for your own pleasure. The employees are sweethearts, very helpful, kind and open. Theres home decor, stickers, art supplies, knicknacks and jokester toys. Perfume, incense, magnets, belly dancing outfits, tie dyed clothes and stonwe. Go!!
This is my go to shop for gifts for any occasion, housewares, cards, jewelry, clothes, you name it. Ive been shopping at archimage for almost 20 years and it cannot be beat out by any other boutique in Rochester. You can find anything you want, plus a few things you didnt know you needed. This is a Rochester MUST visit.

2021-12-20I swear this place just keeps getting cooler. It was already fun here as a kid, but with the addition of unusual, fairly-priced rocks and an increased selection of tarot cards, and with all the handcrafted jewelry- its just great. Love this place. Something for everyone, maybe even your stick-in-the-mud uncle.

Great incense, jewelry, gems and stones, instruments, home decor, clothes, fashion accessories, locally made goods, journals, adult coloring books, toys etc. So much stuff crammed into a small store but all so cool! Worth the trip anytime, great place to find unique gifts.
